What Rafael Nadal has achieved is only within reach of chosen ones

Former world No. 9 Nicolas Almagro says Rafael Nadal’s French Open record is absolutely remarkable as he is certain we won’t ever again such a dominance by a player at one particular event. Last Sunday, Nadal saw off Casper Ruud in the French Open final to win a record 14th title at Roland Garros.

Nadal, who captured his maiden French Open title in 2005, is 14-0 in his French Open finals. Nadal’s dominance at the French Open is one of the most impressive things in all sports as he now owns a record 22 Grand Slams.

“Winning 14 Grand Slams in the same place, we are not going to see again in history. What he has achieved is only within the reach of the chosen ones and Rafa is one of them,” Almagro told Marketing Registrado, per Sportskeeda.

Almagro predicted Nadal would dominate the French Open for many years

In the 2008 French Open quarterfinal, Nadal handed Almagro a 6-1 6-1 6-1 loss. After the match, Almagro made an interesting prediction. “He is going to win Roland Garros 40 years in a row.

He is going to be 65 years old and he is going to keep winning,” Almagro said 14 years ago. Nadal was doubted going into this year’s French Open as some feared his foot would not hold for two weeks straight. “For me personally, it is very difficult to describe the feelings that I have.

It is something that I have never believed. To be here at 36, being competitive again on the most important court of my career,” Nadal said during the trophy ceremony. “One more title means a lot. It means a lot of energy to try and keep going.

I don’t know what can happen in the future but I am going to keep fighting to try and keep going”. Nadal is now undergoing a treatment for his foot and hoping to be fit for Wimbledon.
