Tiger Woods turned down a high nine-digits offer for LIV Golf

Tiger Woods is a man everyone knows and it is superfluous to talk about all the records this man has broken. He has been on the golf scene for a long time, his life is full of scandals, and he attracts a lot of attention with his private life, but also with his sporting successes.

The LIV Golf International series is something that has been talked about a lot lately as well, and many have debated whether it is realistic for Woods to compete in that competition. Greg Norman, LIV Golf CEO, revealed in an interview with the Washington Post that Woods was offered a 9-digit number, a big number, but Woods decided to decline such an offer.

“Mind-blowingly enormous,” Norman said of the size of the offer, as quoted by yardbarker “We’re talking about high nine digits.”

Tiger Woods on the opportunities

Tiger Woods recently spoke to CBC sports about the opportunities that golfers, but also all athletes have.

Now he had an even greater opportunity to take the money, but Woods had his principles that he did not want to break. “I believe in major championships. I believe in big events, comparisons to historical figures of the past,” Woods said before the PGA Tour, as quoted by cbcsports.

He managed what few could, won a lot of money both in golf tournaments and through sponsorships and was the richest athlete for a time. No wonder why money is no longer his priority. However, some others have chosen money before anything, and we will see how they manage on LIV Golf.

“There’s plenty of money out here. The Tour is growing. But it’s just like any other sport. It’s like tennis. You have to go out there and earn it. You’ve got to go out there and play for it. We have the opportunity to go ahead and do it. It’s just not guaranteed up front.”
