Billy Horschel, Memorial

Horschel thus reached the total score of -13, targeting his seventh career victory on the Tour. The closest among the pursuers respond to the names of Cameron Smith and Aaron Wise, stuck at a score of -8, with five strokes away from the leader.

In the trio of players in fourth place there is also the name of Francesco Molinari. The blue is playing a very solid tournament, managing to bring his score to -7. There are all the conditions to make the Memorial the best tournament of the season for the Turin player who today managed to write 4 birdies against two bogeys on his card.

Together with the Italian we find the American Daniel Berger and the Colombian Jhonattan Vegas, with the first author of a great comeback. Also in the top 10 is Patrick Cantlay, twice winner of this tournament, who is in seventh position with a score of -6 together with Joaquin Niemann and the three big disappointed today, Luke List, David Riley and Denny McCarthy, who see walk away the dream of a success.

In the US, Francesco Molinari continues to grind game and shots. After the “moving day” of The Memorial Tournament, one of the most important tournaments of the PGA Tour, the Turin player is 4 / o with a score of 209 (71 68 70, -7), six strokes away from the summit occupied by Billy Horschel, author of a super test and new leader with 203 (70 68 65, -13).

At the Muirfield Village Golf Club (par 72) in Dublin (Ohio), Chicco Molinari gained another five positions thanks to a run in 70 (-2), with four birdies and two bogeys. With no successes since March 2019 (Arnold Palmer Invitational), the Piedmontese in the United States is in the running for the title.

Even though Horschel, with a lap in 65 (-7), with seven birdies, took off. In 54 holes played, the American, winner of the FedEx Cup in 2014, recorded only one bogey, moreover in the opening round of the competition. And now the Australian Cameron Smith (world number 3 and leading up to the middle of the race) precedes in the standings, second with 208 (-8) alongside Aaron Wise.

In the Top 10, seventh with 210 (-6), there is also Patrick Cantlay, outgoing champion (he won the tournament not only in 2021 but also in 2019) and best player on the PGA Tour last year. Rory McIlroy is more distant, 15 / o with 212 (-4) ahead of Jordan Spieth, 19 / o with 213 (-3).

Nothing to do for Jon Rahm. Scored in this event in 2020, the Spaniard (second in the world ranking), in the US is only 35 / o with 215 (-1).
