The Match live updates, highlights from 2022 golf contest

All times Eastern

9:51 p.m.: Allen’s shot bounces off the green and lands in the bunker behind it. Mahomes drives his to the right, and it hooks into the crowd in the mulch. Brady sends his drive into the front-right bunker. Rodgers’ shot bounces off the front of the green and on.

9:42 p.m.: Rodgers makes the putt for birdie. Mahomes also sinks his birdie putt, as the Mahomes-Allen team stays up by a stroke.

9:42 p.m.: Brady rolls a hybrid shot past the pin. Allen’s long putt for birdie is wide to the right. Brady’s first putt is wide to the right. He’s given the bogey. Allen misses wide on the second putt.

9:37 p.m.: Brady’s iron shot is short of the green. Rodgers lands his on the green in range of a birdie putt.

9:35 p.m.: Taking their iron shots from the hole over, Allen lands his first shot on the ninth green. Mahomes’ carries up the hill and then rolls back toward the hole. Short putt for a birdie that could be a big difference-maker on the scoreboard.

9:30 p.m.: Allen hooks his ninth hole drive well to the right into the mulch. Mahomes’ drive carries even farther to the right. Brady has a great drive off the tee, sending his straight down the fairway. Rodgers’ looks like it’s off to the left.

9:22 p.m.: Brady’s birdie putt is wide left of the hole. He’s got par though. Rodgers’ putt didn’t break enough to the right, so the Brady-Rodgers’ pairing stays at par. Mahomes though sinks the birdie putt as he and Allen take the lead.

9:17 p.m.: Brady’s shot his the hill above the green and rolls back down onto it. Rodgers’ shot winds up in the creek.

9:15 p.m.: Allen hooks his iron shot on the eighth hole, but it stays on the edge of the green and avoids the water. Mahomes couldn’t have asked for a better shot as his rolls nicely along the green and is within range of a short putt for birdie.

9:09 p.m.: Allen misses his birdie putt, but walks in a par putt. Mahomes misses his attempt at a birdie and is given par. The Match remains tied with five holes left.

9:08 p.m.: Brady’s birdie putt is a few inches short, and he’s given the par.

9:08 p.m.: Mahomes’ shot from the edge of the green is a bit too far, but it stays on the green and sets him up with a putt for birdie.

9:06 p.m.: Allen, whose shot landed near the tees of the fifth hole, has a nice chip shot back on to the green that sets him up well. Rodgers’ chip shot carries a bit past the hole.

9:03 p.m.: From the bunker, Rodgers flips his ball short of the green. Brady has a nice approach with his shot laying a few yards away from the hole.

9:02 p.m.: Mahomes’ second shot hangs up a bit past the green. Allen’s carries too far to the left, and he’s not happy with his shot.

9 p.m.: After some relief, Brady uses a wedge and drops a shot in the rough a few yards in front of the creek. Rodgers spots his shot in a similar position.

8:53 p.m.: With a long drive challenge on the par 5 seventh hole, Allen sends a powerful shot, but it carries over the crowd on the right side of the fairway. Mahomes drives a long stinger down the fairway. Brady’s, like Allen’s, carries to the right and scatters the crowd. Rodgers’ bounces into the crowd to the right as well. Mahomes wins the driving challenge as the only golfer to stay on the fairway.

8:39 p.m.: Brady’s putt is a bit past the tee and Rodgers’ hooks just to the left. They settle for par. Mahomes makes the solid putt for par.

8:37 p.m.: Allen with a nice approach with a hybrid chip shot. Within putting range for him. Mahomes’ shot carries a bit past the cup.

8:34 p.m.: Brady lands his tee shot on the green, the best shot so far on the par 3 sixth hole. Rodgers has his carry a bit past the hole, but also on the green. Either one could be the ball to putt from.

8:33 p.m.: Allen’s mulligan either landed in the creek or in the mulch. His first shot on the hole was better.

8:31 p.m.: Mahomes and Allen both send tee shots on the sixth hole, and they both go wide right, but Mahomes’ stays just wide right of the green. Allen chooses to use his one mulligan, and earns it by throwing a football at a giant cardboard cutout of Barkley held up by Jake from State Farm.

8:26 p.m.: Mahomes’ putt stops just short of the hole, but he finishes it for the birdie. The Brady-Rodgers’ duo settle for par. Tie game.

8:24 p.m.: Rodgers’ putt carries past the flag. Brady’s putt is barely wide to the right.

8:21 p.m.: Brady’s shot appears to have landed on the wrong course. He lifts his over the crowd and onto the green of the correct hole. Allen, from the mulch, lines a shot that rolls across the green and to the edge. Rodgers, from a few feet next to Allen but behind a tree, has a nice approach considering the circumstances. Long putt coming up.

8:17 p.m.: Allen’s shot follows right behind Rodgers, but Mahomes finds his on the green. He’ll have a chance to putt for eagle.

8:15 p.m.: Trevor Immelman told Brady on his drive to swing to the right. Playing off Rodgers’ drive, Brady hits his well far to the right into the crowd across the fairway. Rodgers’ shot goes back toward the fans.

8:10 p.m.: Brady’s drive hooks around the left corner, but it stays in the rough. Rodgers drives his to the edge of the rough next to the fairway.

8:09 p.m.: Starting the fifth hole, Allen’s drive cuts to the left perfectly around the corner and lands on the fairway. Mahomes’ drive carries his too far and into the crowd.

8:04 p.m.: Par for both teams. Brady and Rodgers still lead by a stroke.

8:02 p.m.: 40-foot putt by Brady is just to the right of the hole. Should be an easy putt for par coming up. Rodgers’ is wide left. He could also make the easy par putt. Allen chips his up a few feet from the hole. Mahomes’ chip shot hooks a little around the edge of the hole.

7:57 p.m.: Brady’s tee shot lands on the green, but is a bit short of the tee. Brady still didn’t love his shot and called it, “a little chunky … a little Josh Allen-y.” Rodgers’ tee shot carries to the right and goes into the crowd. The Brady-Rodgers’ pairing will have the best chance at a birdie, but it’ll be long odds.

7:56 p.m.: Splash down in the pond on Allen’s tee shot. Mahomes’ shot carries a bit over the green.

7:48 p.m.: Mahomes’ putt from the edge of the green carries just a bit past the hole, but it’s set up well. Allen rolls his far to the right. They settle for the birdie on the hole. Rodgers makes his putt for par.

7:47 p.m.: Brady uses a hybrid club and rolls his shot past the tee. Rodgers can’t reach the green with his second shot.

7:43 p.m.: Allen and Mahomes each have strong drives, but Mahomes’ “swing juice” of Coors Light saw his drive stop just short of the green.

7:42 p.m.: Rodgers’ tee shot carries a bit into the rough, but rolls back down onto the green. Brady’s drive carries way too far to the left.

7:41 p.m.: Brady and Rodgers have been going over strategy. Mahomes has begun drinking. Time for the par 4 third hole.

7:34 p.m.: Brady’s putt for eagle is just wide to the left, but he’s given the birdie. Mahomes misses his putt for birdie but makes the par try.

7:33 p.m.: Rodgers’ third shot from the green could be within putting range for par.

7:31 p.m.: Allen has to make his approach shot from down by the creek, and he lands it on the green. Mahomes flips his shot from the mulch behind the green that takes a nice roll down the ridge and set himself up in a good spot for a birdie.

7:29 p.m.: Brady lands his shot on the green in range for a potential eagle on the par 5 course. Rodgers’ shot doesn’t reach the green, and rolls down the hill a bit.

7:28 p.m.: Sounds like Allen hit a fan with his tee shot and he gave him a glove for his trouble. His next iron shot isn’t much better as it again gets lost by the tracking camera. Mahomes’ shot carries over the green.

7:23 p.m.: Allen slices his drive into the right side of the crowd. Mahomes’ shot isn’t much better as it might’ve cut even farther to the right.

7:22 p.m.: Brady’s shot off the tee hooked straight to the left on a line and might be a bit far into the rough. Rodgers keeps his straight down the fairway again. That will be where the Brady-Rodgers’ team start.

7:19 p.m.: Rodgers makes the birdie putt, and the Brady-Rodgers pairing are leading by one.

7:18 p.m.: Mahomes’ birdie putt is a bit wide, but he makes the putt for par to keep him and Allen even on the first hole. Brady makes his par putt. Rodgers will have a chance for a birdie.

7:17 p.m.: Brady’s putt hooks to the right, away from the flag. Mahomes and Rodgers to putt now.

7:16 p.m.: Allen went with the putter, and it put him in a good spot for a par putt coming up. This after Brady showed him his golf ball, which has the Lombardi Trophy on it, and asked him if he’s ever seen one of them.

7:13 p.m.: Brady’s iron shot hits the green and puts him in putting range. Rodgers’ shot hits the green and spins back toward the hole. He’ll have the shortest putt for a birdie coming up.

7:12 p.m.: Allen lifts an iron shot a bit past the green, but it sticks on the edge. He thought he might have a putting chance, but the broadcast lets him know that won’t be in the cards. Mahomes drops his with a few feet of the tee with a perfect approach.

7:11 p.m.: Brady explains his bad drive was all part of the mental game to make his younger opponents underestimate him. He also said he doesn’t want to waste a good drive when his partner had a good one.

7:08 p.m.: Allen’s tee shot goes a bit further into the left of the rough. Mahomes’ shot stays on the fairway.

7:07 p.m.: Brady sends a stinger with the driver that hooks a bit to the left and into the rough.

7:06 p.m.: Rodgers sends a clean drive straight down the fairway. Brady will now take his tee shot.

7:05 p.m.: Slight delay to the start of The Match as it appears Brady was lost on the course.

7:03 p.m.: Introductions for the match are underway. Rodgers will be the first to tee it up.

6:49 p.m.: Josh Allen has a unique golf ball that he’ll be using on Wednesday.

6:38 p.m.: Aaron Rodgers and Charles Barkley make a wager for the upcoming golf match in Tahoe that if Barkley wins, he can cut off Rodgers’ man-bun. Barkley says if Rodgers wins, he’ll donate to a charity of Rodgers’ choice.

6:35 p.m.: Allen is sounding like an early fan favorite. Plenty of Bills fans cheering him as he warms up on the driving range.

6:21 p.m.: The smack talk continues on, and even Josh Allen’s teammate is taking aim at him and the Bills.

6:04 p.m.: Tom Brady is getting ready with some practice swings ahead of The Match.

And Josh Allen is repping the Bills Mafia with his bag in the Match.
