Former world No. 1 Ana Ivanovic thinks Carlos Alcaraz is a very confident individual but also a very humble guy and she admits she is looking forward to watching him at the French Open. Ivanovic captured her lone Grand Slam title at the French Open in 2008 and now Alcaraz is looking to do the same – become a Grand Slam champion as a teenager at Roland Garros.

Alcaraz has accomplished a lot so far in 2022 as he is now a two-time Masters champion and is also enjoying a career-high ranking of No. 6 in the world. “I think [Carlos Alcaraz] has done really amazing in the last few weeks and I’m really interested in how he will do.

I haven’t seen much of his interviews but I have seen some and he seems quite confident and quite down to earth. It will be really interesting to see how he develops as a player,” Ivanovic said during her appearance on the Olympic Channel Podcast.

Ana Ivanovic, Amelie Mauresmo speak highly of Carlos Alcaraz

Mauresmo, who is set for her first French Open as the tournament director, is also looking forward to seeing Alcaraz in action at Roland Garros. When asked about Alcaraz, Mauresmo offered high praise and big words.

“What he is doing at his age is simply amazing. It immediately aligns statistics comparable to the very best. Beyond all that he does exceptionally, what impresses me the most is his head,” Mauresmo told Le Soir. “The way he manages it all meticulously, at 19!

I had met him three years earlier, when I was coaching Lucas Pouille and he already had this attitude, the attention to detail. We will see how far it can lead from here.” Alcaraz has won three clay titles in 2022 and he is considered among top favorites for the French Open crown. Alcaraz will kick off his French Open campaign by playing Juan Ignacio Londero in the first round.
