Jurgen Klopp honest over ‘real beast’ Erling Haaland; Carragher has words of caution

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp says “unfortunately” the signing of Erling Haaland is “really good” for title rivals Manchester City.

City announced on Ruesday they had agreed a deal with Borussia Dortmund for the signing of Norway striker Haaland. Pep Guardiola’s men will pay the 21-year-old’s release fee of £51m, making the initial transfer fee a bargain.

But the deal will top £85m in total when agent fees, Haaland’s signing on bonus and other costs are considered, according to Sky Sports.

Haaland has passed a medical in Brussels and City now have to agree personal terms with the prolific striker.

The German coach has previously labelled the former Red Bull Salzburg star a “real beast” and believes he will score goals next season.

Former Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher was also asked for his opinion on City’s deal for Haaland. And a player with 85 goals in 88 appearances for Dortmund tells its own story. But Carragher did have some words of warning.

Carragher issues Haaland caution

Carragher told Sky Sports: “Brilliant signing, it really is. Not just for Man City, but for the Premier League.

“I think we’re all intrigued to see how he’ll do. Him and (PSG’s Kylian) Mbappe feel like the next two superstars who are going to eclipse [Lionel] Messi and [Cristiano] Ronaldo and you’re just delighted that he’s at the Premier League.
