All set for GCU Relays 2021 in Ughelli — Sport — –

The Third Edition of the Government College Ughelli – GCU Relays will hold on November 13 2021. It will take place at the school modern Tartan Tracks built on the exclusive Athletics Grounds.

It was revealed yesterday that the confirmation of the date also came with the reconstitution of the Relays Organising Committee.

President General of the GCUOBA Worldwide, Arc, Ovo Charles Majoroh disclosed that the Annual Relays defaulted last year due to the global COVID-19 epidemic. He stated that invited athletes and officials would arrive a day before and depart the day after the event.

Arc Majoroh has also promised that this year’s edition will be better and bigger in comparison to previous editions.

The Last edition in 2019 featured Over 30 schools drawn from across the country, including Igbobi College Lagos, Yewa of Ilaro and Government College Afikpo.

About 50 schools have already confirmed their participation in this year’s event.

Support for the Meet is spearheaded by the Old Boys and Corporate Nigeria, including the provision of the Tartan Tracks.

The revelation of the second edition was the discovery of Sunday Akintan from Yewa College Ilaro, who made great impact in both the 100 meters and 200 meters races.

The captain of Team Nigeria to Nairobi 2021 U-20 Athletics Championship, Godson OgheneBrume of Afiesere Grammar School, stole the show in the maiden edition winning both the 100m and 200m races for Boys.

The Relays was the icing on the cake for the lad that has all the physical traits of Divine Oduduru.

Key to the GCU Relays is the revival and enhancement of healthy sports rivalry among secondary schools in Nigeria.
