Golf has the potential to unlock Nigeria’s tourism industry, Ufit Fly Chief Operating Officer, Evangelist Ajibola Ogunkeyede has said.
Speaking in Ibadan during the week, the Absolute Success Travels & Tour boss highlighted many benefits derivable from well-articulated collaboration between sports and tourism, using golf as an example.He said Nigerian political leaders have not been able to the elitist nature of game of golf to the country’s benefit, and called on the Federal Ministry of Sports to look into fashioning out a healthy collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Tourism.
“There are many benefits derivable from a good synergy between tourism and sports, especially this game of golf that involves large personnel when a big golf tournament is being organized.“We have identified that in Ufitfly and that is why we always invest in golf. Golf has great potential to boost tourism industry if it was well harnessed.
“I pray our government opened this vista and key into the vision,” he said. Ogunkeyede, a member of Ibadan Golf Club (IGC) has pledged to work with the present executive of the club to institute and solely bankroll a kitty for beginners as part of efforts to support and develop golf at the grassroots.
