Football enthusiasts from within and outside the Lagos West Senatorial zone are in for thrilling times at the Proposed Palace Playing Ground, Igando, where 12 teams drawn from the district have gathered for the Seventh Prince Gbadamosi Adebola Sulaimon (GAS) U-17 Championship.
The competition, which kicks off today, is a football championship that will see 15 teams contesting for honours, including jerseys and various cash prizes.
Participating ion the championship are Anointed FC, Future Stars FC, Sam Jason FC, Stars United, King Best FC, Prince Word FC, Zico FC and Hanem FC.
Also involved in the competition are Future Hero, Christ Embassy FC, Junior United and All Stars FC.
The competition will kick off today with Anointed FC of Egan taking on Hanem FC of Badagry in the opening match, which is expected to attract such dignitaries as Elder David Akere, Mr. Idowu Ogundipe, the sole administrator of Igando/Ikotun Local Council, Mr. Samuel Ojo, former Special adviser on Hosing to the Lagos State Governor, Jimoh Ajao and the Baba Oja of Ijegun, Mr. Adele Ganiu.
Tomorrow’s matches on the same ground would pitch All Stars FC against Future Stars, Sam Jason FC versus King Best FC and Junior United against Stars United.
According to Prince Sulaimon, who is the coordinator of the competition, the winning team will go home with a set of jerseys, a trophy and a cash prize, while the second placed team will receive a trophy and cash prize.
