According to circulating video footage, a green Sprinter bus is seen at the scene, having rammed through the wall and broken part of it.
TV3 reports that three passengers sustained serious injuries during the accident and were rushed to the hospital for medical attention.
“A trotro driver has driven into the fence wall of former President Akufo-Addo’s residence in Nima. Three individuals have allegedly been injured due to the accident and rushed to the hospital,” the TV3 report stated.
Several bystanders were also seen at the scene assessing the situation.

A major highlight of the event was the official signing of an ambassadorial agreement with musician and digital advocate Edem, who has been named the CSA’s Brand Ambassador for the campaign.
In his remarks, Edem underscored the importance of digital safety for Ghana’s future.
“This is more than a campaign, it’s a movement. If we don’t act now to educate, inspire, and protect our people online, especially the youth, we will pay for it in ways we cannot afford,” he remarked.
The “Safer Digital Ghana” campaign is expected to roll out nationwide educational activities, social media engagement, and community outreach programmes in the coming months.

A 53-year-old man, Alhaji Abdulai Sayuti, has been arrested by police for allegedly possessing and selling restricted drugs in Tamale.
The arrest followed an intelligence-led operation conducted on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, at 1:30 p.m.
According to the police, the suspect was apprehended at his over-the-counter chemical shop near Victory Cinema in Aboabo, where he was found with 368 blisters of Tramadol (120mg) and 298 blisters of Tramaking (120mg).
Further investigations at the suspect’s residence at Fuo, a suburb of Tamale, led to the discovery of an additional 447 boxes of Tramadol and 11 boxes of Tramaking in a warehouse.
Confirming the incident to Graphic Online, the Northern Regional Police Public Relations Officer, Chief Inspector Alhassan Luckman Neindow, indicated that the suspect was arraigned in court on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, where he pleaded guilty to charges of possession and unlawful sale of restricted drugs.
He said the court remanded the suspect into prison custody, with his next appearance scheduled for July 21, 2025.
Chief Inspector Neindow reaffirmed the command’s commitment to combating the illegal drug trade and urged the public to assist law enforcement by providing credible information.
“We encourage the public to volunteer information to help us fight this menace in our communities,” he stated.

“I have not heard them at all. We are focused and working. There is a lot to put in place. I am sure Malik is also focused. I condemn violence, and nobody can ask me to sympathise with a woman who has put so many people to suffer. I am her direct victim,” Dr Bisiw-Kotei, added.

Lawyers for controversial evangelist and former priestess Nana Agradaa, born Patricia Asiedua, have reportedly filed an application requesting that her ongoing civil case be transferred to a court in the Eastern Region, citing logistical challenges.
The move follows her incarceration at Nsawam Prison, where she is serving a 15-year sentence for unrelated criminal charges.
According to a lawyer for Empress Gifty, speaking to the media on July 16, 2025, Nana Agradaa’s legal team argued in court today, that frequent transportation from Nsawam to Accra is burdensome and affects the handling of the case.
“Today, Nana Agradaa’s lawyers came up with another application that the place she is being kept is too far from the court. So they appealed that the case be moved to a court in the Eastern Region… When the time comes, the court will hear that application,” he said.
However, Empress Gifty’s lawyer maintained that the current court location should not affect the substance of the case, and they are prepared to argue against the motion for a change in venue.
The lawyer also clarified that the ongoing case is distinct from the criminal case that led to Nana Agradaa’s conviction.
“That issue was a criminal issue, this one is a civil issue, there is no jail time involved in this case,” he emphasized.
What happened:
Empress Gifty, in May 2025 filed a GH₵20 million defamation suit against Nana Agradaa, accusing her of making vulgar and damaging false claims, including allegations of promiscuity and bestiality, during a live social media broadcast.
In June, the Tema High Court dismissed her motion to strike out the case, ordering her to pay GH₵6,000 in costs, and confirmed the defamation case will proceed despite her concurrent 15‑year prison sentence for fraud.

The Member of Parliament for Asunafo South, Eric Opoku, is set to contest the flagbearer position of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) ahead of the 2028 general election.
According to Omanhene Kwabena Asante of Asempa FM, his sources confirm that the current Minister for Food and Agriculture is prepared to join the race, which includes prominent party figures such as the current Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, as possible contenders.

“Let this Parliament not be found wanting,” the statement said.
“We must uphold the rule of law and protect Ghana’s international standing as a stable mining jurisdiction,” the Minority added.

The Member of Parliament for Ofoase-Ayirebi, Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, has introduced a Private Members’ Bill aimed at amending the Public Financial Management Act.
The proposed amendment seeks to prevent the Minister for Finance from allocating funds to any Ministry, Department, or Agency (MDA) that does not have a development plan certified by the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC).
Furthermore, the bill also proposes a ban on the authorisation or retention of Internally Generated Funds (IGFs) by MDAs unless their programmes are certified by the NDPC.
Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, July 16, Oppong Nkrumah—who also serves as the Ranking Member on the Economy and Development Committee of Parliament—said the move is designed to improve public financial accountability and bolster efforts to safeguard the national purse.
“I’m blocking that hole where MDAs spend Internally Generated Funds. There are a lot of MDAs who will tell you that they are using their own money and not taxpayers’ money,” he said.
“Before you collect that money, there are fees and charges that need to be passed. That’s public money. Its use must be in consonance with the national development plan. And so, what this Bill seeks to do is to block that hole and help protect the public purse,” he added.

Tamale, July 16, GNA – An awards-based competition on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) has been held for female students from selected Senior High Schools (SHSs) in the Northern Region.
It was to raise awareness and deepen students’ understanding of the SDGs while promoting innovation, critical thinking, and empowering girls to lead change in their schools and communities.
It was organised by Norsaac, a civil society organisation, in partnership with ActionAid Ghana on the theme: “Climate Action for a Sustainable Future”.
Members of the Young Female Platform (YFP) project, an initiative being implemented in SHSs to bridge the gap in female leadership, from Ghana SHS (Ghanasco), Northern School of Business SHS, Bimbilla SHS, Yendi SHS, and Gushegu SHS were the participants.
They pitched innovative solutions aligned with SDGs four, five, eight, and 13, under themes such as “Empowering Women and Girls: Promoting Gender Equality in Schools and Workplaces”, “Trees for Tomorrow: From Seeds to Shield”, “Green Ghanasco for Future Generations”, “Girls for the Green Future”, and “Breaking Barriers: Empowering Students for Gender Equality”.
At the end of the competition, Ghanasco emerged overall winners and received GHc5,000 and a certificate, Gushegu SHS placed second and received GHc3,000 and a certificate while the Northern School of Business SHS came third taking home GHc2,000 and a certificate.
Bimbilla SHS and Yendi SHS placed fourth and fifth respectively.
Madam Salimah Abdulai, YFP Project Officer at Norsaac, speaking during the competition in Tamale, said it was not solely about winning but about evaluating the students’ creativity and innovation.
She said it was also to inspire girls to confidently express their ideas and aspire to leadership roles.
She urged the award winners to make prudent use of the funds to ensure the sustainable implementation of their proposed projects in their schools.
Madam Alia Mumuni, a Programmes Officer at ActionAid Ghana, expressed satisfaction with the confidence, intelligence, and creativity displayed by the students describing it as a strong indication of their determination, resilience, and readiness to shape their future.
Mr Mashud Zakaria, Chief Inspector of Schools, Northern Regional Directorate of Education commended Norsaac and ActionAid Ghana for implementing the project saying it complemented government’s efforts to promote inclusive education.
Miss Osman Muslimah Maligu, a student from Ghanasco, described the competition as a wonderful experience.
She said her school would embark on planting 50 mango trees to help preserve the school’s environment.
Former Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Mavis Hawa Koomson, has rejected claims that she was responsible for the violence that erupted during the parliamentary rerun election in the Ablekuma North constituency.
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen show, the former Fisheries Minister said she is not a violent person and would never endanger lives.
“I have children and brothers. Why would I want to harm someone’s child? I won’t allow anyone to kill, and I certainly won’t do it myself,” she said.
Her comments come in the wake of last Friday’s violent incident at St. Peter’s Methodist Church polling station, where the rerun took place across 19 polling stations following disputed results from the December 2024 elections.
According to reports, the violence broke out when unknown individuals overpowered police officers at the polling centre.
Viral videos from the scene captured the moment Hawa Koomson used pepper spray to defend herself as a crowd advanced toward her.
Responding to the incident, she said she was shocked by the attack and had no intention of causing confusion.
“I was surprised. I went there peacefully, but they attacked me. I had to defend myself,” she explained.
Touching on past incidents, Hawa Koomson also addressed claims from the 2020 general elections, where she was accused of firing gunshots in Kasoa.
“In 2020, nobody was killed in my constituency. It was the NDC that attacked me, and I fired a warning shot in self-defence,” she stated.
She also denied any confrontation with the NDC parliamentary candidate during the recent 2024 campaign.
“I never met with the NDC contender during the entire campaign period. I didn’t go near her or her events. So I was surprised to hear that I was being blamed for causing confusion,” she added.
The July 11 rerun was marred by tension and controversy, but Hawa Koomson insists she was targeted unfairly and that her actions were only in response to threats.
“I didn’t go there to fight. I was attacked, and I only tried to protect myself,” she concluded.

Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Yakubu Abanga Alhassan, has denied allegations linking him to illegal mining activities, commonly referred to as galamsey, describing the claims as “baseless, malicious and calculated attempts” to damage his reputation.
His response follows a directive from the Attorney-General and Minister for Justice, Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, for the Economic and Organised Office (EOCO) to launch a full-scale investigation into alleged illegal mining operations involving both Mr. Abanga and Joseph Yamin, the NDC’s National Organiser.
In a letter dated July 15, 2025, the Attorney-General called on EOCO to invite the two party officials for questioning, citing intelligence reports and public concern over ongoing galamsey operations that are severely affecting Ghana’s environment, including forest reserves and major water bodies.
Dr. Ayine further urged EOCO to broaden its probe to include others mentioned in previous reports, particularly the Prof. Frimpong-Boateng report on illegal mining. The Minerals Commission has also been asked to collaborate with EOCO to ensure a comprehensive investigation.
Speaking in an interview on Citi Eyewitness News Wednesday, July 16, Mr. Abanga stated:
“Let me state categorically clear that I have never been involved in any illegal mining activities at any point in my life or behind any taskforce that is said to be extorting monies from miners. Those allegations are baseless, malicious and calculated attempts to tarnish my hard-earned reputation.”
Abanga also indicated his readiness to cooperate with EOCO if formally invited, stating that he is confident the investigation will vindicate him.

Late President Muhammadu Buhari’s daughter, Hadiza Mohammed, has said that one of the lessons her father taught her and her siblings while he was alive was never to take what belongs to another person.
Popularly known as Nana, Hadiza, who spoke with newsmen today July 16, at her father’s private residence in Daura, Katsina State, recalled an incident that stuck with her mind on her father’s teaching on being of good moral behaviour.
“I will not forget years ago when we were children, we were asked by Baba to go buy exercise books, and after doing so, there was a change of N15 left.
Instead of taking back the balance to our Baba, we decided to spend the money instead and stopped at a shop and used the money to buy sweets.
When we came back to the house, Baba asked us about the remaining change, and we told him we had spent it.
He said to us, ‘You were supposed to come back and give me the change, and it’s left for me to choose to allow you to keep it or not.
He then told us not to ‘eat what belongs to other people’, or ‘take what belongs to other people’, and we thank God for the good upbringing we received from Baba.” she said
After the Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association’s July 15, 2025, meeting with the Fair Wages and Salary Commission, the government has decided to agree on three of their allowances.
The three include the book and research allowance, uniform and fuel allowance.
According to the leadership of GRNMA, the allowances will be included in the mid-year budget to be presented on July 24, 2025.
Executive Director of Africa Education Watch, Kofi Asare, has warned against any move to abolish the teacher licensure examination, stressing its importance in safeguarding quality standards in Ghana’s education system.
His comments come in the wake of a recent directive from the Ministry of Education, which instructed the National Teaching Council (NTC) to collaborate with its Registrar to organise a final sitting under the current licensure framework by August 30.
The directive, issued by Education Minister Haruna Iddrisu during the inauguration of the newly constituted NTC board on Tuesday, July 15, is part of a broader plan to transition to a new system for assessing teacher qualifications.
Appearing on The Point of View on Channel One TV on Wednesday, July 16, Mr. Asare clarified that the teacher licensure exam has not been scrapped and remains vital for quality assurance.
“Teacher Licensure examination hasn’t been abolished. It’s still very relevant, and for me, we need it for quality assurance. If we abolish that particular examination conducted by that external body, we will be admitting many people whom I reviewed their scripts personally, who couldn’t put together a sentence in English,” he said.
He stressed the need for the exam to remain under an independent body to ensure its credibility and objectivity.
“They will be admitting all of them to our classrooms, and that would be a disaster. So, we need the Teacher Licensure Exams. The fact that it is conducted by an independent body and not the faculty it’s very important,” he added.
Mr. Asare’s remarks come at a time of growing debate over the future of the teacher licensure regime, with calls for reform from some stakeholders and student-teachers who have criticised the exam’s structure and outcomes.

Private legal practitioner, Lawrence Kwesi Botchway Jnr, has petitioned President John Dramani Mahama to establish an independent Commission of Enquiry to investigate the violent incidents that marred the Ablekuma North parliamentary election rerun held on Friday, July 11, 2025.
In an 8-page petition dated Tuesday, July 15, 2025, and addressed to the Presidency and copies served on the Council of State and the Speaker of Parliament, Botchway invoked Article 278(1)(a) of the 1992 Constitution, which empowers the President to commission an enquiry into matters of public interest.
The legal basis of the request, the petition noted, is firmly grounded in constitutional provisions and supported by past legal precedent.
“Article 278 (1) of the 1992 Constitution provides that the constitutional mandate of the President… can be invoked at the pleasure of the President or upon the advice of the Council of State or at the request of Parliament to investigate certain matters of public interest,” the petition reads.
Botchway argued that the July 11 rerun, ordered after months of legal disputes and unresolved results from the 2024 general elections, was marred by a wave of violence, intimidation, and human rights violations which warrant urgent and impartial investigation.
Citing several graphic incidents captured in video evidence submitted with the petition, the lawyer described what he called “a coordinated campaign of violence” against party officials, journalists, and observers.
Among the most shocking incidents was the assault on former Member of Parliament and Minister of State, Mavis Hawa Koomson, who was attacked by more than 20 unidentified men at the St Peter’s Society Methodist Church Polling Station.
“Despite having accreditation to monitor the elections on behalf of the NPP candidate, Hawa Koomson was attacked and stomped by unidentified macho men,” the petition stated.
Other victims included Joy News journalist Sally Martey, who was slapped and shoved by a masked attacker during live coverage of the voting process, and Amansan TV reporter Vida Wiafe, who was pepper-sprayed by security officers, leading to her collapse on the scene.
GHOne’s Kwabena Agyekum Banahene and Chris Lloyd Nii Kwei Asamoah, the Deputy National Organizer of the NPP, were also subjected to unprovoked physical assaults.
“This petition borders on the fundamental human rights of citizens, injustice, abuse of power, and unfair treatment… These matters are of considerable significance and weight to satisfy the pleasure of the President,” Botchway stated.
The petition emphasised that electoral violence continues to threaten Ghana’s democratic credentials, noting that more than three decades into democratic governance, the nation has yet to guarantee violence-free elections.
Citing the precedent set in 2019, when a similar Commission of Enquiry was established following the Ayawaso West Wuogon by-election violence, the petitioner argued that Ghana must not wait for further deterioration before taking action.
“It is unfortunate that, over three decades of practicing democracy, Ghana cannot hold violence-free elections… The petitioner deems it necessary to bring to the notice of the President activities of violence which… warrant the establishment of a Commission of Inquiry.”
Among other key demands, the petitioner is specifically seeking investigations into violations of the fundamental rights and freedoms of individuals cited in the petition.
He contends that these individuals suffered unfair treatment and grave injustices during the conduct of the parliamentary rerun.
In his petition, the lawyer also raises concerns over the abuse of power by personnel of the Ghana Police Service, particularly in incidents involving a GHOne TV journalist and an Amansan TV reporter who were allegedly assaulted while carrying out their journalistic duties.
Furthermore, he is questioning the failure of the National Election Security Taskforce (NESTF), established in 2024, to deploy officers to maintain law and order on the day of the rerun.
He argues that since the rerun formed part of the 2024 electoral process, the absence of adequate security presence constituted a major breach of responsibility under the election security framework.
Additionally, the petition calls for an investigation into the role of the Minister of Interior, particularly in relation to the issuance of instructions or orders that may have influenced the conduct complained of.
Botchway stressed that the minister either failed to exercise proper oversight or demonstrated a lack of leadership necessary to prevent or respond effectively to the violations in question.
The legal practitioner further seeks compensation for the victims, to be determined by the President or the commission of inquiry, depending on the findings and severity of the injustices suffered.
“The petitioner herein brings this matter before the President for his consideration, based on the President’s legal mandate to establish a commission of inquiry to enquire into the matters espoused,” the petition states.
Botchway emphasised that the issues raised go beyond individual grievances and touch on the core values of justice, accountability, and the rule of law, necessitating presidential action in the public interest.

Nana Agradaa is the founder and leader of the Heaven Way Church
A woman who identifies herself as Tema Agrasco has strongly defended Evangelist Patricia Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa.
Tema Agrasco called on the authorities to reduce Agradaa’s prison sentence, arguing that she had not committed any violent crime.
“She didn’t kill anyone. Has Agradaa ever murdered someone or pointed a gun at anyone?” she asked, questioning both the media and the public.
“Everywhere in the world, people do what they want,” she added.
Speaking boldly during an interview, she asked the presenter, “If someone asks you to bring 10,000 cedis and promises to double it and they actually do, does that mean they are doing magic? Because that’s exactly what she did.”
She insisted that Agradaa fulfilled her promise and added, “Today is her first and last.”
Tema Agrasco ended her statement with a cryptic warning, “Wait and see what will happen.”
The mining site where 20 young men are believed to have been stuck
Following the collapse of a mining pit, rescue operations are still underway at Akyem Wenchi in the Eastern Region’s Denkyembour District.
Sources say that about 20 young guys are still thought to be stuck below, and four have supposedly perished.
There is still no clear cause for the collapse. Personnel from the Ghana Police Service, Ghana National Fire Service, Ghana Ambulance Service, and the National Disaster Management Organization (NADMO, however, have been sent to the location, according to a report by citinewsroom.com.
They are frantically trying to save the lives of those who are still trapped in the pit by collaborating with locals.
Rescue efforts are ongoing, but emergency personnel say the precarious condition of the collapsed site is impeding efforts.

He made this statement during the Safer Digital Ghana Campaign 2025 – Soft Launch and Ambassador Signing Ceremony held on July 16, 2025.
Ghana’s digital landscape is experiencing unprecedented growth, with over 38.3 million cellular mobile subscribers and internet-enabled technologies now integrated into schools, businesses, and households.
“Ghana has embraced this transformation,” Agbeti emphasised, referring to Data Reportal’s Digital 2025: Ghana report.
This surge in connectivity is revolutionising how Ghanaians communicate, access information, and conduct business, he said on the sidelines of the event.
“It’s an honour to welcome you to this significant milestone in our collective effort to create a safer and more secure digital Ghana. His Excellency President Lourenço today alongside Prince Harry, Duke of Sussex
Prince Harry traveled to Angola earlier this week and met the country’s president to discuss demining efforts, almost three decades after his mother’s memorable visit to the south African nation.
The Duke of Sussex shared his vision of a “mine-free country” in an audience with Angolan President João Lourenço on Tuesday, according to the international NGO, the HALO Trust.
“We thanked him [Harry] for his extraordinary dedication to and investment in the vision of a mine-free country, and he expressed his intention to continue to support our work with a further significant contract for the next three years,” the CEO of the non-profit, James Cowan, said in a statement.

Images of Diana, then one of the most famous people in the world, walking along a cleared path in an active minefield are credited as helping mobilizing public opinion against the deadly devices.
Foreign and national actors littered fields, villages and towns with landmines and explosives over decades of fighting in Angola, in the bloody fight for independence from Portugal – and the ensuing civil war from 1975 to 2002 – killing and injuring thousands of people.
Human rights agencies repeatedly called for an international treaty ban on landmines, which eventually came into effect just months before Diana’s death in August 1997. In September 2019, Harry retraced his mother’s footsteps along the minefield in Huambo.
Around 88,000 Angolan people were casualties of landmines, according to the HALO Trust. But the searing impact of that brutal legacy is still being felt today.
In 2019, the mother of an eight-year-old landmine survivor recalled her grief over the death of her nephew, Frederico, aged 10, who was killed after the two boys happened upon a landmine while playing football.
The blast so severely wounded her son, Manuel, that the child had his leg amputated. “The war ended a long time ago,” Ermelinda told CNN at the time.
“A lot of people pass by that spot. There are always a lot of people there and they had never found that,” she said. “It had to be on the day when the children were there.”

Kumasi, July 16, GNA – President John Dramani Mahama has reaffirmed his government’s commitment to completing all viable infrastructure projects in the Ashanti Region, regardless of which administration initiated them.
Speaking at a durbar in Kumasi to thank the chiefs and people of the region for their overwhelming support in the 2024 elections, President Mahama assured that no beneficial project would be abandoned.
“The Ashanti Region plays a vital role in Ghana’s national and economic development, yet it has borne the burden of neglect and unfulfilled promises for too long,” the President stated.
President Mahama promised to complete the Afari Military Hospital, KNUST Medical Centre, the Second phase of the Kejetia redevelopment project, Suame Interchange project, Sewua Hospital and KATH’s maternity block.
Other Projects to be completed are the Krofrom and Mampongteng markets.
President Mahama also announced that the Accra-Kumasi Expressway would be constructed to enhance safe and efficient travel between the two major cities.
On the Boankra Inland Port Project, he said an audit was underway and that his administration would act on its findings to ensure timely completion.
“The completion of these strategic infrastructure projects will unlock the Big Push Agenda and restore the region’s development integrity,” he stated.
He further noted that since assuming office, the government had prioritized economic stabilization to boost business confidence and generate employment across the region.
Touching on other national issues, the President reiterated his administration’s commitment to fighting illegal mining (galamsey), which he described as a major concern.
President Mahama also mentioned that assembly members were now on a regular income and promised to sustain the policy as a motivation for improved local governance.
He called on the people of Ashanti to continue supporting the government to restore dignity, hope, and create opportunities for all.
Nana Boakye Agyeman, Asafohene, representing the Asantehene, urged the President to ensure that Asanteman receives its fair share of national development. He also called for deeper involvement of traditional leaders in national planning and development.
Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister, commended the President for the visible transformation witnessed across the country in the past six months.
Bishop Joseph Amo, who led a delegation from the clergy, expressed strong support for the 24-hour economy policy and pledged continued prayers for the President’s success.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) is set to introduce U15 Girls Colts Leagues in each of the ten football regions.
This policy is in line with the GFA’s implementation of its Women Football Strategy and FIFA’s Women’s Development programmes.
Working with the support of FIFA Women’s Football Development, the Association is developing the U15 Regional Colts Leagues for Girls under the age of 15 years.
FIFA’s support follows an application by the Women’s Football Development Desk of the GFA Technical Directorate led by Prof. Joseph Kwame Mintah as part of the strategic pillars for sustainable growth in women’s football in Ghana.
The U15 Girls Regional Colts Leagues will provide a platform for young girls to showcase their talent and develop their skills in a structured and competitive environment.
The League will inspire and empower the next generation of female footballers in Ghana to solidify GFAs’ vision of making women’s football a key pillar of its development agenda.
It will serve a step in creating a pathway for young players under U15 to transition into higher levels of the game, including the national women’s teams.
There will also be avenues to educate those involved in the delivery of the game to enhance the development and retention of players, referees, and coaches.

The RFAs will benefit from this programme to implement the girls colts leagues to help close up the huge gap between boys and girls football and to create the same opportunities for the girls.
The leagues will be played by 80 U15 Girls Teams across Ghana and will engage over 3,300 girls. This includes the Catch Them Young girl referees who will be part of the officiating team.

Hawa Koomson was accused of being responsible for the death of an NDC member during the 2024 polls
An old video from the aftermath of the electoral violence that led to the death of a member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Awutu Senya East constituency during the 2024 general election has resurfaced.
The video re-emerged following the assault of the former Member of Parliament for Awutu Senya East, Mavis Hawa Koomson, at a polling station during the recent rerun of the 2024 parliamentary election for the Ablekuma North constituency.
The said video showed the Director of Eagle Eyesight Spirit, Patrick Tagoe, raining curses and threatening Hawa Koomson, who was the candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the constituency’s parliamentary election.
Patrick Tagoe accused the former legislator, who was Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development under former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, of being responsible for the death of the NDC member.
He threatened to storm Hawa Koomson’s home with his guys should the police fail to take action against her, adding that posterity will judge her.
“Hawa Koomson, are you okay? Are you normal? If nobody is going to advise this woman, time will. When your son was stabbed, all hell broke loose. Today, you have sent your boys to go and kill someone because of an election.
“You have killed someone’s child, and you are expecting to enjoy life with your children… if that happens then the God we serve is not alive,” he fumed.
“A time is coming… If God exists, I send a sickness that has no cure to Hawa Koomson, her husband and her children… This is very painful. It is not that the person has done something to you, but you made them shoot him,” he added.

Speaking on Daybreak Hitz on Hitz FM, Merqury Quaye dismissed critics questioning why a top-tier artiste like Shatta Wale would perform for free at a high-profile national event, arguing that such moves reflect a deep understanding of brand visibility and long-term relevance.
“When you take great events—events with great visibility, strategic artistes know the value that these platforms hold to the development of their career and shaping of their relevance,” he stated.
He revealed that none of the global superstars who have performed at the Super Bowl, including Dr. Dre and Beyoncé, have received a performance fee.
“There is a show called the Super Bowl. This is more like the epitome of showcasing. It is every artiste’s dream to be on that halftime show. This year, the show commanded 127 million eyeballs—an increase from 2024’s 123 million. Now, no musician has received a performance fee for that event,” he explained.
“So if Shatta Wale does this, knowing very well the visibility the event comes with, he is being strategic. And look at the reviews he is receiving as a result of this appearance. That is the value, and it is bigger than any amount that he would even want to charge for it,” Merqury Quaye asserted.

Good Evening Ghana show host Paul Adom-Otchere has made damning allegations against National Security, claiming they helped Kevin Taylor enter the country unnoticed despite a bench warrant for his arrest.
Speaking on his show aired Tuesday, July 15, 2025, Adom-Otchere alleged that security operatives, in defiance of a bench warrant issued by the courts, met Taylor at the airport and granted him access to Gate 19 at Kotoka International Airport, a section he claims is reserved exclusively for high-profile officials and diplomats.
“This is what we have been told, but we just hope it’s not true. He arrived as Kevin Taylor and went through gate 19 at the airport, which is ordinarily reserved for high-profile diplomats. He was met by national security in gross violation,” Adom-Otchere alleged.
According to him, his arrival in the country with the help of the state security apparatus constitutes what he describes as a ‘gross violation of a court order’, one that cited Kevin Taylor for contempt over allegedly scandalising the judiciary.
“Ministers and the president may or may not be aware. He has arrived in Ghana in gross violation of a court order. The court order was against contempt of court. He spoke about certain things that the court believed were scandalising.
“…This guy sits in America, scandalises the court in the name of politics, a bench warrant is issued, his party is in power, so the state security apparatus sponsored by the taxpayer goes to pick the guy who has scandalised one of the most important institutions of democracy, the courts, and they bring him in,” he indicated.
Adom-Otchere further alleged that, with the help of National Security, Taylor was accommodated at Prestige Link, the official residence reserved for the Vice President of Ghana, raising questions about the rationale behind such actions by state security operatives.
He condemned the development, raising concerns over how someone like Taylor, who, according to him, has a reputation for verbally attacking prominent figures and institutions in the country, could be allowed to stay at a residence regarded as highly prestigious.
“He came by United Airlines flight U A 996, according to the story, from Washington, D.C. with an entourage. The report is that they sent him to Prestige Link to go and live in the house that is reserved for the vice president of Ghana. This is the same house that John Dramani Mahama lived in as vice president and even as president. When President Mahama was exiting his presidency in 2016, this is the house that he wrote to Nana Akufo-Addo, and Nana Akufo-Addo agreed that President Mahama could have it. Later on, party hawks prevailed on Akufo-Addo by force that President Mahama cannot have it and so, President Mahama had to relocate and find his own place where he has been living until he was re-elected as president,” he continued.
He further expressed his disgust, saying, “This house is where Aliu Mahama lived. It’s a COCOBOD house that is reserved for the vice president of Ghana. This is the house that has been given to ‘Mr Sansa Daly’ and his entourage to stay in the official residence of the vice president of Ghana. This guy sets up a media organisation to basically drop down insults on every important Ghanaian. He supports and assists the political party; there’s no problem. Every political party supports their own, but you cannot support your own by using taxpayers’ resources to bring in somebody like that.”
Adom-Otchere went on to suggest a possible motive behind Taylor’s arrival in the country, revealing that Taylor has filed an application at the apex court, possibly in relation to the bench warrant issued for his arrest.
“He is now worried about the bench warrants, so he has filed an application at the Supreme Court. This is very interesting, and it should be worrisome if it is true that he is staying in the official residence of the Vice President of Ghana. Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang appears to have her own house she’s comfortable with, and doesn’t want to move, so the vice president’s official residence is vacant. This is the place where a fugitive from justice, against whom there’s a bench warrant, is protected by the state apparatus to go and stay.”
He therefore cautioned the government over its actions, calling on officials to be held to account.

Ghanaian singer and songwriter Kwame Nsiah Apau, popularly known as Okyeame Kwame, has opened up about the most challenging part of fatherhood, saying he has accepted that children cannot be taught everything.
Speaking in an interview with Giovani Caleb on Showbiz 360, Okyeame Kwame revealed that he has come to realise one is not truly a good father until their children are grown and well integrated into society.
“The most challenging part of fatherhood is accepting that I can’t teach my children everything. I’ve come to realise that you’re not a good father until your children are old enough and well integrated into society. Everything we are doing is trial and error,” he said.
According to him, he initially thought he understood fatherhood because he had read several books on parenting, but he soon discovered that reality was different.
“I thought I knew about fatherhood. I read a lot of books, but no, I don’t know anything. Some of the things that work for others don’t work for me. So I try to work with my children, and I see that each child is unique,” he explained.
He continued, “For example, my son is very smart but also very divergent. He has a lot of energy like me; he can’t sit in one place for 15 minutes. He wants to move and play, but we want him to learn. I’ve come to see that you can’t teach a child anything.”
The Yeeko hitmaker added that his approach has shifted from instructing to guiding his children.
“I have to find a way to draw out of them what they want to do, which is positive. That’s a challenge because the modern father’s responsibility is to make sure they don’t transfer their fear onto the children. And since I’m afraid for the child, it’s challenging for me to watch him get hurt, but I have to let him, because that’s what he wants to do.”

Following recent events at Ablekuma North, some residents have been expressing their concerns and calling for an end to the violence that overshadowed the rerun of the elections in the constituency.
Some of them said the incident is not new to them since it has been recurring, particularly for the main political parties in the country.
One of them said, “It’s something that has been a recurring issue for some time. I believe it has become a standard practice for all parties involved. Instead of focusing on development to inform their votes, our political leaders have resorted to violence to ensure their candidates are elected. If we don’t put an end to this, it will become the norm for everyone.”
Another resident who spoke with GhanaWeb said he is convinced that political parties regard violence during polls as the way to go in order to win elections and get their preferred candidates into political office.
“Every party that seeks power will think that using violent means is the way to get their people into positions of authority. I would advise that the government should refrain from empowering police and using the military when it comes to elections, as some of these individuals may not be able to protect politicians when they face aggression or attack, particularly when the government is currently in power. Violence is not a path to national development,” said Abba, one of the residents.
Since the violent scenes in the Ablekuma North Constituency, tensions have remained high, highlighting the urgent need for peace and stability.
Another resident, Addo, added, “It wasn’t fair because I’m sure there were many people who would have liked to go out and vote, but due to the events that transpired, they stayed indoors. This will not yield a fair result.”
Residents have voiced their dismay and fear, emphasising the need for a peaceful environment for the electoral process.
A woman remarked, “If you look closely, Akua Afriyie won, and now they say it’s down to three candidates, and later, it was reported as nineteen. Not everyone participated in the voting; some were frustrated and chose not to vote, which contributed to the situation we experienced. Like it or not, whoever is elected is still our leader.”
Community leaders and organisations are stepping up their efforts to mediate and promote peace, with hopes of restoring calm and fostering a sense of unity.

The Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Jinapor, has stated that the collapse of the Power Distribution Services (PDS) deal was caused by the actions of a few greedy individuals closely associated with the agreement.
According to him, the deal itself was not a flawed concept and presented a viable approach to enhancing private sector participation in the power sector.
Speaking during the Government Accountability Series on July 16, 2025, Jinapor emphasised that involving the private sector in electricity distribution was a sound strategy. However, the PDS arrangement was undermined by self-serving interests.
“We are not going to use the PDS approach in bringing in the private sector. PDS was not a bad idea in terms of private sector involvement. The only bad thing was that a few greedy individuals decided to cannibalise the process and sell the shares among themselves,” he said.
The minister lauded the potential of the PDS deal, noting that it initially served its intended purpose.
He highlighted that ECG’s revenue began to rise under the PDS arrangement, but the deal eventually collapsed due to political interference.
“If they had started what we are doing now, ensuring value for money, a competitive process, and less political interference, even in its flawed form, we saw ECG’s revenue increasing. So it means that if we do it better, we can achieve real results,” he added.
Jinapor made these remarks in the context of the government’s ongoing plans to engage the private sector in improving the performance of state-owned enterprises.
“I have assured you that we will not get involved in the shares of the new private sector participation,” he stated.
The PDS deal, signed in March 2019 under the administration of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, awarded a 25-year concession to PDS to manage the operations of the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG). However, the agreement was suspended in July of the same year following allegations of fraud.
