Suspected criminal killed in gunfire exchange with police in Tamale

0

A suspected criminal has been killed in a said gun fire exchange with the police in Tamale in the Northern Region.

The police team reportedly encountered a violent confrontation during an intelligence-led operation at the Aboabo Forest enclave in the Tamale Metropolis.

While advancing through the area in search of criminal gangs, who were said to be involved in robbery and the trafficking of illicit drugs, the policemen reportedly came under a sudden gunfire attack from a group of armed suspects.

Acting in line with police rules of engagement and legitimate self-defence protocols, the policemen reportedly returned fire to neutralise the said threat.

One suspect was struck during the exchange, and he died.

The remaining armed individuals fled the scene with their weapons as reinforcements closed in.

The team approached the injured suspect with the intention of providing assistance and transporting him to the Tamale Teaching Hospital.

Graphic Online understands that upon arrival, the attending medical officer pronounced the suspect dead.

The body was subsequently deposited at the mortuary for preservation pending autopsy.

According to a police source, the confrontation confirmed earlier intelligence indicating that the criminal elements within the area were heavily armed and prepared to violently resist arrest.

‘I have cursed the NDC for making me lose the election’

A former Member of Parliament for Ablekuma North, Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie, has cursed the National Democratic Congress over what she describes as the party’s role in denying her victory in the Ablekuma North parliamentary election rerun.

Speaking to the media on the sidelines of the launch of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) amended constitution on Tuesday, December 3, 2025, she stated, “I have cursed the NDC for what they did to me at Ablekuma. God is a just God, and I know they will pay for it.”

Nana Akua Afriyie insisted that she won the seat with a margin of 414 votes.

“I won the Ablekuma North elections, and I keep repeating I won with 414 votes, and the original pink sheet bears me out.

“I’m not in Parliament today only because my party is not in power, and someone thinks her party is in power and so she would take the seat from me by force. We went to court, and the judge asked us to return to the EC, but because it wasn’t my party in power, they orchestrated for the EC to rerun the elections in 19 polling stations,” she alleged.

Ewurabena Aubynn of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) won the Ablekuma North parliamentary seat, defeating the New Patriotic Party (NPP) candidate, Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie, by a narrow margin of 209 votes.

The rerun, conducted in 19 polling stations, overturned Afriyie’s initial lead and ended the NPP’s 28-year dominance in the constituency, which it had held consistently since 1996, except for the 1992 Election when the party boycotted.

The rerun was organised to resolve disputes over the 2024 general election results in the constituency.

With each edition, Stonebwoy strengthens his role as a cultural ambassador for Ghana and an influential contributor to the African music movement.

His ability to fuse reggae, dancehall, Afrobeats, and highlife with modern global elements makes him one of the continent’s most consistent performers.

For many observers, the 2025 festival symbolises more than entertainment.

It signals a new chapter for Stonebwoy and revives the conversation around his potential to secure a Grammy Award.

With his talent, strategic collaborations, and international footprint, many believe the time has come for a renewed and intentional Grammy-focused campaign.

A Strong Case for a Grammy Push

“Ayee” reaffirmed Stonebwoy’s ability to merge different cultural identities into a universal musical language.

This kind of collaboration demonstrates his readiness for greater global acclaim and positions him as a strong contender for international recognition.

Major International Collaborations Strengthening His Global Brand

Stonebwoy’s journey has been shaped by multiple high-profile international collaborations that have expanded his musical identity and global reach.

His work with Grammy-winning Jamaican superstar Sean Paul elevated him into new Caribbean and American markets.

His collaboration with the Queen of Dancehall, Spice, showcased his ability to blend Ghanaian rhythmic patterns with hardcore dancehall flavors.

His linkup with reggae and dancehall legend Beenie Man highlighted his credibility and acceptance among icons of the genre.

Beyond these, Stonebwoy has collaborated with other major names including Keri Hilson, Davido, KiDi, Burna Boy, Morgan Heritage, Diamond Platnumz, and Jahmiel.

These collaborations have not only cemented his place in the African music powerhouse circle but have also opened doors across diverse territories such as Europe, the Caribbean, and Latin America.

Such partnerships reinforce why many believe Stonebwoy is fully prepared to pursue and potentially secure a Grammy win.

Staying Focused and Ignoring Distractions

With his unmatched talent, global fan base, and renewed determination, the dream feels closer than ever.

Hearts of Oak dumped out of FA Cup by Division Two side True Life

Hearts have been dumped out of the FA Cup Hearts have been dumped out of the FA Cup

Accra Hearts of Oak suffered a stunning early exit from the 2025–26 MTN FA Cup after being knocked out by Division Two side True Life at the Hearts of Oak Complex at Kpobiman on Wednesday, December 3, 2025.

The defeat marks yet another painful chapter for the Phobians at this venue, where they were similarly shocked by a lower-tier opposition two seasons ago.

The match began with Hearts showing early urgency. In the 5th minute, a neat build-up saw Adams thread a pass toward Duku, only for the final ball to run slightly long.

Three minutes later, Hearts earned a freekick, but the delivery was comfortably handled by the visitors’ defence.

By the 11th minute, Karikari made an impressive run before being hacked down, though the resulting freekick also came to nothing.

Despite Hearts’ early pressure, it was True Life’s discipline, organisation, and confidence that gradually took control of the game.

The visitors, unbeaten in their Division Two campaign and sitting top of their league, played like a side far above their tier, absorbing pressure and breaking forward with sharp counters.

How Laura Woods collapsed on live TV during England vs Black Queens game

Hearts head coach Didi Dramani had hinted before kickoff that this fixture would be used to give fringe players valuable minutes while managing workloads ahead of a crucial league match this weekend.

But that decision seemed to backfire as Hearts struggled to find rhythm, creativity, or cutting edge in the final third.

True Life, buoyed by their fearless form, grew stronger as the match wore on and capitalised on Hearts’ lack of urgency, eventually finding the decisive goal in the 78th minute, which sent shockwaves through Kpobiman.

Despite late attempts to respond, Hearts looked short of ideas, and the visitors held firm to complete a memorable upset.

For a club still haunted by past cup stumbles at this ground, Wednesday’s defeat will sting deeply, while for True Life, it marks one of the biggest wins in their history.

I don’t charge my colleagues for shows

0

Popular Ghanaian gospel singer Mavis Asante has revealed that she does not charge her colleagues when they invite her to minister at their events.

She said this during a recent interview on Joy Prime, where she disclosed that she has never demanded money for performing at events organised by her colleagues.

When asked about her band members, Mavis Asante stated that she often forgoes her band when performing at such occasions because her colleagues already know the nature of the work and make preparations.

“It’s free. When it’s with a colleague musician, I normally don’t go with my band. Because they know the nature of the work, they make sure they provide good instrumentalists,” she stated.

Mavis added that while some might offer to send her a token after the performance, she politely declines unless the gift was sent without prior discussion.

“Some of them, when you finish, they’ll call you to send you something but I’m like, ‘no, I’m not interested.’

“Unless you sent it before telling me that ‘Oh, I’ve sent you something.’ But if you ask me before you want to send it, I’ll tell you it’s okay,” she said.

Asked to explain the motives for her ministering for free, she stated, “The person is my colleague. I might need him or her for my own show. With me, when you are my colleague and musician and you invite me for a show, I don’t charge.”

NDC has betrayed voters’ trust – NPP

0

NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong has criticised the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, accusing it of failing to deliver on key campaign promises and misusing state power.

Speaking on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, during the unveiling of the NPP’s amended constitution, Mr. Kodua said Ghanaians had given the NDC an “overwhelming mandate” in the 2024 elections, expecting decisive action on illegal mining, stronger governance, and improved security.

“Nearly a year later, those expectations remain unmet,” he said, adding that the fight against illegal mining, or galamsey, has worsened, posing an “existential threat” to the nation’s environment.

He also alleged that state agencies are being deployed to intimidate political opponents and silence critical media voices.

“We have witnessed an escalation in abuse of incumbency and state-sponsored intimidation of political opponents in the media,” Mr. Kodua said.

He further accused the government of withdrawing court cases to shield officials accused of misappropriating public funds and attempting to influence independent state institutions, including moves to overturn NPP-held parliamentary seats.

Mr. Kodua also criticised the executive’s handling of the judiciary, highlighting the removal of former Chief Justice Gertrude Torkonoo.

“Sadly, the judiciary, which should be the final defender of the rule of law, has been captured by the executive. Judges now fear dispensing justice impartially for fear of reprisals,” he said.

Ghana urges restraint as post-election violence escalates in Tanzania

By James Amoh Junior

Accra, Dec. 3, GNA – Ghana has expressed deep concern over the rapidly deteriorating political and human rights situation in Tanzania following the country’s general elections held on October 29, 2025.

It urged restraint, accountability and transparency from all actors involved.

In a statement issued in Accra on Wednesday, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the post-election environment in Tanzania “has unfortunately been characterised by significant security developments.”

This, it said, included “loss of lives, street clashes and violent stand-offs between the security forces and protesters, with considerable implications for the long-term stability of the country.”

Ghana extended condolences to bereaved families and sympathy to those injured in the violence, stressing its regret over the civilian casualties that have emerged from the tensions.

“Ghana particularly regrets the civilian casualties and extends heartfelt condolences to all the families who are grieving their loved ones lost to the unwarranted violence. We also wish speedy recovery to all those who have suffered injuries,” the statement said.

The Ministry affirmed its support for assurances by Tanzanian authorities to address impunity and uphold accountability, justice and respect for constitutional order.

It emphasized that effective policing and public order measures must form part of broader strategies aimed at protecting human rights, especially for protesters, and called on the Tanzanian government to ensure its security forces and related institutions uphold these obligations.

According to the statement, Ghana stressed “the need for enhanced efforts on the part of all stakeholders, including the authorities, political parties, civil society, protesters and the security forces to respect the rule of law and democracy while upholding good governance and safeguarding the civic space critical to preventing any violations and abuses.”

As a member of the United Nations Human Rights Council, Ghana aligned itself with calls made by the African Union, the Commonwealth and the United Nations for maximum restraint and credible investigations into the post-election disturbances.

The statement said, “a fair, inclusive and equitable process anchored in the rule of law will provide the victims, including those detained and the alleged perpetrators, access to due process guaranteed under international human rights law.”

Ghana also urged the international community to extend necessary support to Tanzania as the country navigates its post-election challenges.

NPP amends Constitution to address 2024 election defeat

0

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has revised its party constitution to establish a strategic framework aimed at addressing factors that contributed to its loss in the 2024 General Elections.

At the launch of the amended constitution on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong highlighted member neglect and a breakdown in communication strategy as key reasons behind the party’s defeat.

“Many of the issues that culminated in our loss in the 2024 election have been addressed in this amendment,” he said, noting that voter apathy and dissatisfaction among former party executives significantly influenced the outcome.

To tackle these challenges, the NPP has expanded its electoral college, granting former executives at both district and national levels voting rights.

“We all know that one of the reasons why we did not get the needed vote to win the election was voter apathy, and it also stemmed from the fact that there were several former party executives who felt that they were neglected.

“But in our current constitution, we have expanded our electoral college to make room for our former executives at the district level and the national level to have a voting right. All of these are to address the issue of apathy in our party.”

Kodua also acknowledged criticism of the party’s communication strategy, noting that despite numerous achievements, a lack of coordination among communication directors hampered effective messaging.

“Another reason why we lost is that many people criticised our party’s communication. We had done so much, but we were not communicating them, and there was no coordination among the various communication directors,” he added.

The General Secretary emphasised that the amendments reflect lessons learned from the 2024 elections and are intended to strengthen party structures, engagement, and messaging ahead of future electoral contests.

Ofankor-Nsawam Road: Over $70m paid to contractor

0

President John Dramani Mahama has revealed that over $70 million has been paid to contractors to jumpstart work on the long-delayed Ofankor-Nsawam Road, resulting in significant progress.

Speaking during a working visit to the construction site on Wednesday, December 3, President Mahama said the payment followed months of stalled work caused by non-payments and other constraints.

“One was the inability to make some demolitions to allow the contractor to work, but the major one was non-payment for work done for a very long time. So ofcourse, I ordered the Roads and Finance Ministers to make sure that payment was made to the contractor. More than $70 million was paid,” he stated.

The President expressed satisfaction with the speed of progress since the funds were released, noting that what was once a “road moving at a snail’s pace” is now advancing steadily.

He urged the contractor to maintain momentum, adding that completion could come ahead of schedule.

“The last time I came, he assured us that by July next year, he will be able to hand over the road, but if I look at the road I am sure that by April next year, if you guys push hard, you will be able to finish this road and hand it over so that we can use it,” he said.

Here is why NPP has amended its constitution

0

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has amended its constitution as part of measures to build a strategic framework aimed at addressing the factors that led to its defeat in the 2024 general elections.

Speaking at the unveiling of the amended constitution on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, the General Secretary of the NPP, Justin Kodua Frimpong, stated that neglect of party executives as well as weakness in communication contributed to their defeat.

National Delegates Conference: NPP delegates to vote on over 50 motions to reshape the party

“Many of the challenges that resulted in our defeat in the 2024 Election have been addressed through this amendment. We are aware that one reason we did not secure the necessary votes to win the election was voter apathy, which was also fueled by the neglect felt by several former party executives.

“Under the revised constitution, we have expanded the electoral college to include former executives at both district and national levels with voting rights. This measure seeks to tackle the issue of apathy within our party,” he explained.

Justin Kodua also acknowledged criticisms regarding the party’s communication strategy.

Flagbearer Race: NPP’s final five slug it out for the top spot

He noted that despite the party’s numerous achievements, lack of coordination among communication directors limited the effectiveness of its messaging.

“Another factor contributing to our loss was criticism of our communication. We had accomplished a lot, but failed to communicate these achievements effectively, largely due to poor coordination among our communication directors,” he said.

Justin Kodua said the amendments reflect lessons learned from the 2024 Election and are designed to strengthen party structures, engagements, and messaging ahead of future contests.

He said, “This is getting out of hand, this is a dangerous situation, I know what fans can do, I know what people can do, and this is putting Natasha at risk.”

He appealed to fans, friends, and family to “cease fire” and allow the couple to resolve their issues privately. According to him, disagreements in relationships are not unusual, but the current frenzy around his marriage has gone beyond acceptable limits.

“It is not fair on anybody to face this kind of thing, so I need everybody to calm down, I need everybody to cease fire, we are going to resolve all these issues. People dey get issues for house, no be today, but this is getting out of hand. Friends, family, everybody, cease fire, I am perfectly fine. I did not post that post, please, I am okay.”

This comes amid earlier reports that the singer was briefly detained by UK police after an alleged altercation with Natasha during his October tour.

The matter resurfaced during an Instagram Live session with broadcaster Daddy Freeze, where the couple was heard arguing in the background, fuelling speculation of a marital crisis and raising concerns over the singer’s well-being.

Ola Michaels Makes a Bold Statement in a Video

Ghanaian radio presenter Ola Michael has shared his thoughts on why the late Daddy Lumba relocated to Ghana.

Speaking on Neat FM, he dismissed claims that the late highlife legend returned to Ghana to seek medical treatment.

Ola Michael claims Daddy Lumba ‘used’ Akosua Serwaa

Ghanaian entertainment pundit Ola Michael has disclosed that the late Daddy Lumba left behind his first wife and newborn in Germany to have an extramarital affair with Odo Broni, who was a teenager.

Speaking as a host on Neat FM on December 2, 2025, he claimed that the late singer deceived the world by saying he was returning to Ghana to seek medical treatment after his wife took a loan to help him secure German citizenship.

He added that, based on the information presented in court concerning Daddy Lumba’s marriage to Odo Broni, the musician returned to Ghana around 2010, the same year the marriage reportedly took place.

“If he relocated to Ghana in 2010 and it was said in court that he married Odo Broni in 2010, then you’re telling us the reason why Lumba left abroad. He didn’t leave abroad because he was sick; he left because he wanted to marry Odo Broni,” he said.

“Because he got a woman in Ghana, he left his children and the woman who helped him gain German citizenship. If anyone would say he returned to Ghana because he was sick, then the person would be a liar,” he shared.

“The letter Akosua Serwaa brought stated that in 2018, she confronted Lumba, asking him whether he had a wife in Ghana. According to her, he left her for another woman after she went through pain, different types of abuse and trauma.”

“There were also rumours that she poisoned Lumba, but they’re not true. It means he abandoned his family to start a new one,” he explained.

Ghanaians react to Ola Michael’s video

Some social media users have applauded radio presenter Ola Michael for speaking the truth about the late Daddy Lumba’s marital issues. YEN.com.gh has compiled some reactions below:

Mavis Amin stated:

“May god continue bless you bro.”

Nana Yaw Owusu stated:

“Oh no Ola na onim nyansa saaa May God grant him more wisdom, strength and long life.”

Anabi Issah Lamini stated:

“God bless Ola. May God protect and guard ur marriage. More peace and endless blessings.”

Van Der Waal stated:

“If not in Ghana, where else could this nonsense happen?.”

Ola Michael says Daddy Lumba was unfaithful

The radio presenter said that, in his judgment, Lumba had connections with other women throughout his time with Akosua Serwaa, which resulted in children.

According to him, these situations highlight the challenges she supposedly suffered.

“Mind you, when Daddy Lumba was married to Akosua, he was still dating other women and had children with them, so you can imagine what the woman has gone through all these years,” he said.

Ola Michael further criticised the legal representatives said to be associated with Daddy Lumba, accusing them of being one-sided in the matter.

“The lawyers who claimed to be representing Daddy Lumba are also being biased. They were supposed to represent everything and everyone surrounding Lumba, but they chose to be one-sided,” he added.

Abena Moet cautions married women about joint properties

Earlier, YEN.com.gh wrote about Ghanaian media personality Abena Moet, who warned married women against making joint investments with their husbands.

Abena Moet used the late Daddy Lumba’s first wife, Akosua Serwaa, as a case study in her lawsuit.

Some social media users shared mixed reactions online.

WASSCE Results: A nation fixated on national averages

0

Every year, when WASSCE results are released, Ghana erupts into the same familiar debates: Did the national pass rate go up or down? Is Free SHS working or failing? Almost always, the conversation revolves around one number: THE NATIONAL AVERAGE. But our obsession with this single figure hides more than it reveals.

The truth is simple: national averages tell us nothing about what is really driving performance in our schools.

Beneath the headlines sit hundreds of Senior High Schools performing at dramatically different levels. Some continue to excel, recording four-credit pass rates of 60 to 90 per cent.

Others have been stuck below 20 per cent for years. If we continue fixating on national averages, we will never understand the real forces shaping our educational outcomes.

A recent look at school-level WASSCE performance between 2017 and 2023 (shown in a cluster of anonymised schools labelled AA to JJ) makes this painfully clear. While schools such as AA, BB, HH, II and JJ consistently push national averages upward, others like CC, DD, EE and FF rarely cross the 20 per cent mark. Their chronic underperformance drags the national average down year after year.

Yet when the national results are announced, we never ask the most important question:

Which schools improved, which declined, and why?

It is the same mistake economists would make if they tried to analyse inflation without looking at the specific items driving prices up or down. To understand inflation, you do not examine the overall rate alone; you break it down. Is it food? Transport? Rent? Only then can you craft targeted solutions.

Education is no different.

If we want to raise national WASSCE performance, we must abandon the lazy comfort of national averages and embrace the hard work of MICRO-LEVEL ANALYSIS. Policymakers must be able to point clearly to which schools are improving, which are deteriorating, and what factors, teachers, facilities, leadership, and student preparation, explain the differences.

This is how real interventions are designed.

A school that has recorded 8 per cent pass rates for five straight years does not need the same support as a school steadily performing at 70 per cent. Yet our policies often treat them as though they face the same challenges.

They do not. Until the Ministry of Education and the Ghana Education Service shift from broad national conversations to detailed school-level diagnostics, many struggling schools will continue to be invisible in the data and in the policy response.

Ghana does not have a national performance crisis; it has a distribution crisis. A relatively small group of persistently low-performing schools determines whether the national average rises or falls.

If even a fraction of these schools were supported to move from 10 per cent pass rates to 35 or 40 per cent, the national picture would change dramatically. WASSCE analysis must therefore evolve.

It must stop being an annual ritual of political point-scoring and become a serious exercise in identifying the real drivers of educational performance. A nation that measures properly can intervene properly. A nation that analyses deeply can improve meaningfully.

Until then, Ghana will continue to be fixated on national averages, while ignoring the granular realities that truly shape the future of its children.

MTN Shareholders Approve Mobile Money, Mobile Money Fintech Merger

A TOTAL of 1,443,918,868 beneficiary shareholders of Scancom PLC (MTN Ghana) has, by a majority vote of 99.95%, approved the merger of Mobile Money Limited (MML) and Mobile Money Fintech Limited.

Additionally, a total of 88,092 were against the merger, while 4,445 of the shareholders abstained from either approving or disapproving the merger.

This indicates that shareholders have agreed for all businesses, assets, liabilities of MML be transferred to the newly incorporated company, Mobile Money Fintech Limited.

Also, 1,203,029,241 beneficiary shareholders totaling to 99.95% have approved the waiver of a fairness report, a document which typically contains the assessment of the fairness of a merger.

The move which was done during the extraordinary general meeting in Accra forms part of MTN’s efforts to comply with Bank of Ghana’s directive requiring dedicated electronic money issuers to maintain at least 30 percent Ghanaian ownership in line with the Payment Systems and Services Act of 2019 (Act 987).

The CEO of Mobile Money Limited (MoMo), Shaibu Haruna, said following the approval by beneficiaries during the voting period, Money FinTech Limited will merge with Mobile Money.

“And obviously, Mobile Money Fintech Limited will become the surviving entity. For that reason, what this means is that it’s a structural change with no real customer impact in terms of the name—Momo from MTN will still remain, and our customers will continue to enjoy the great services that we have,” he said.

He added that the new development allows the company to be more innovative highlighting the collaboration with the bank of Ghana, saying, “we will be actively supporting bank of Ghana’s initiative to drive financial inclusion and ensure that every single Ghanaian has access to digital spend.”

According to Mr. Haruna following the authorisation and approval from shareholders, said, “obviously no objection to this arrangement, and there is also a court process that will bring finality to this process. So we, by the virtue of this approval that we have, we are strengthening to go the next level in terms of making sure that all the regulatory steps are taken to ensure that our business is fully compliant with all the laws of Ghana.”

Chairperson of MobileMoney Fintech Limited, Victoria Bright, speaking with journalist explained that the companies seek to focus on completing a digital transformation and achieving operational independence from Scancom PLC while emphasising that the company would focus on enhancing governance and leadership structures in preparation for the eventual listing.

Free SHS not to blame for 2025 WASSCE failures

The Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy cannot be blamed for the sharp decline in the 2025 West African Senior Secondary School Certificate (WASSCE),

Dennis Miracles Aboagye, Special Aide to former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has said.

Speaking in an interview on Channel One TV and monitored by GhanaWeb on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, he entreated stakeholders in the education sector to investigate what actually caused the poor performance of students in 2025 instead of politicising the issue.

“Anybody who says that Free SHS is the reason for these failures is not being intelligent.

“It is an ill-informed comment and does not hold water. We need to stop politicising this issue,” he said.

WAEC says the 2025 WASSCE recorded one of the most drastic declines in years, with Core Mathematics passes dropping by more than 96,000 and the pass rate falling to 48.73 percent.

Nearly a quarter of candidates failed both Core Mathematics and Social Studies.

A man believed to be a member of the Ghana Drunkards Association has been discovered dead in what authorities suspect to be a suicide at Ablekuma-Olebu in the Anyaa Sowutuom Constituency of the Greater Accra Region.

According to a metrotvonline.com report on December 3, 2025, the association’s president, Moses Drybone, disclosed that the deceased had been battling personal difficulties, particularly tensions at home.

He noted that the man had recently expressed frustration over his wife’s behaviour, which had deeply affected his emotional wellbeing.

Drybone stated that the troubled situation often drove the man away from home to spend time with friends in search of relief.

However, his sudden disappearance for several days raised alarm among acquaintances.

His body was later found hanging in his room, with a sponge fastened around his neck.

Inflation drops for 11th consecutive month in 2025 Inflation drops for 11th consecutive month in 2025

Ghana’s headline inflation has dropped to 6.3% in November 2025, down from 8.0% recorded in October 2025.

This represents a 1.7 percentage point decrease.

It marks the eleventh consecutive month of slowing inflation and is the lowest rate recorded since February 2019.

According to the latest data from the Ghana Statistical Service (GSS), this aligns with economists’ projections and places inflation within the Bank of Ghana’s target band of 6–10% by the end of 2025.

Food inflation eased to 6.6% in November compared to October, while non-food inflation fell to 6.1% from 6.9% in October.

At the announcement, the Government Statistician, Dr Alhassan Iddrisu, noted that the main drivers of the decrease were food and non-food inflation.

Overall, prices rose by 0.9% between October and November 2025.

Ghana’s inflation drops to 8% in October 2025

On the regional front, the North East Region recorded the highest inflation rate at 12.3%, while the Savannah Region registered the lowest at -0.02%, indicating a slight reduction in its inflation rate.

The GSS described the decline as a positive indicator of progress toward macroeconomic stability, attributing it to ongoing measures to strengthen the cedi, supported by the Bank of Ghana’s recent monetary policy rate.

Kano gov mourns bandit attack victim

Abba Kabir Yusuf is the Kano State Governor Abba Kabir Yusuf is the Kano State Governor

Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, on Tuesday, paid a condolence visit to the family of the late Zahra Allalai, the woman killed during the recent bandits’ attack on Kamaye village in Tsanyawa Local Government Area.

The development was contained in a statement issued on Wednesday and signed by the governor’s spokesperson, Sunusi Tofa.

Zahra’s killing occurred amid a series of coordinated assaults across settlements along the Kano–Katsina border, a corridor that has suffered repeated incursions and abductions in recent months.

Describing Zahra’s death as “a painful loss to her family, community, and to the entire state,” Yusuf prayed for Allah to grant her eternal rest and comfort her loved ones.

After the condolence visit, the governor proceeded to meet with troops of the Joint Task Force deployed across Shanono and Tsanyawa LGAs, where he received an operational briefing and assessed current security deployments.

At the Forward Operating Base in Faruruwa, Commander of 3 Brigade, Brigadier General A.M. Tukur, briefed the governor on recent encounters, including the November 1 ambush that claimed the lives of two soldiers and a vigilante and destroyed two military gun trucks.

Tukur explained that although the armed groups have shifted deeper into border communities, troops remain fully committed to protecting residents and clearing the area of criminal elements.

Yusuf described the situation as alarming, particularly the killing of Zahra Allalai and the continuing abductions in Tsanyawa.

“It is unfortunate that the infiltration is widening day by day. Bandits are killing people, rustling cattle, and kidnapping residents. But with the JTF deployed, the situation is improving,” he said.

He disclosed that he had briefed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on the matter, adding that the President directed the Chief of Army Staff to send reinforcements with additional personnel and equipment.

“We will support you in whichever way necessary to neutralise this cancer,” the governor assured the troops.

Addressing residents of Tsanyawa, Yusuf pledged that the government would not relent until all abducted victims were safely reunited with their families.

“These security challenges are new to Kano. But by Allah’s grace, we will do whatever it takes to defeat the bandits,” he said.

He reaffirmed the administration’s commitment to providing logistics, welfare and operational support to security agencies while assuring residents that the affected communities would not be abandoned.

Parliament’s 8-year-record exposes ex-health minister’s lies about Zipline funding

ECG, GWL must improve services following new utility tariffs

0

The Deputy Ranking Member on Parliament’s Energy Committee, Collins Adomako-Mensah, has called on the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and Ghana Water Limited (GWL) to significantly enhance their service delivery following the recent approval of new utility tariffs, which will take effect in January 2026.

Under the revised tariff structure, electricity rates are set to increase by 9.86% across all customer categories, while water tariffs will rise by 15.92% over the five-year regulatory period.

Speaking to Citi News on Wednesday, December 3, the Afigya Kwabre North MP emphasised that such adjustments must be matched by improved service quality.

“Ordinarily, any Ghanaian would not be excited about an increase in tariffs, but I am comforted that it was not the full amount the utility agencies were requesting. We have always advocated that when you request a tariff hike, Ghanaians should see a commensurate level of service.

“With this increment, I am hoping that ECG services will improve, and that all other utility agencies will also enhance their performance,” he said.

The case involving two suspects: Bright Aweh and Thomas Zigah, in the alleged murder of immigration officer Stephen King Amoah appears to have hit a snag due to the judge’s absence in court.

The two suspects were brought before the Kaneshie District Court under strict police supervision on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, but the case was adjourned once again to December 17, 2025, with proceedings stalled.

Court issues arrest warrant for new suspect in Immigration Officer’s murder

Speaking to the media at the court premises, a family member of the late immigration officer confirmed the judge’s absence and the adjournment of the case.

He expressed his frustration, stating that they had waited in court for the hearing, which eventually did not take place.

According to him, they were informed that the police and court would have to wait for advice from the Attorney General.

“We have been sitting and waiting for hours but the judge was absent. The case has been adjourned to December 17 and so, we will show up on that day. We have been told that unless the Attorney General presents his recommendation before the case can proceed.

“Since they have yet to receive it, the case will continue to be adjourned and the suspects remanded to prevent them from securing bail. We now await the Attorney General’s advice,” he said.

Aweh and Zigah are being held for their alleged involvements in the murder of the late Stephen King Amoah.

On July 3, 2025, Amoah went missing after leaving his home to meet Aweh at Ashongman Estates.

Amoah’s body was discovered days later in a drain at Abom Junction. Investigations revealed that the meeting had been arranged following WhatsApp exchanges involving images of cash, allegedly to settle a debt.

Aweh claimed he had given Amoah GH¢500,000 to pay off a debt and retain the balance, but inconsistencies in his account raised suspicion.

He was initially charged with kidnapping and later arrested for Amoah’s murder after police found a bloodstained camouflage fabric and a fufu pestle wrapped in polythene at his residence.

Access Bank’s Board Diversity Success Highlights Ghana’s Political Gender Gap

0

Access Bank
Access Bank

Access Bank Ghana’s recognition as the nation’s second most gender diverse board reveals a striking pattern: corporate Ghana is advancing women’s representation faster than its political institutions, creating what governance experts describe as a troubling disconnect between boardroom progress and parliamentary stagnation.

The bank secured its second place ranking with 44 percent female board representation, significantly above the national average of 25 percent, according to the Ghana Board Diversity Index Report 2025 published by The Boardroom Africa and Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE). That achievement stands in sharp contrast to parliament’s mere 14.9 percent female representation, with women occupying just 41 of 276 parliamentary seats.

The divergence grows more pronounced when examining leadership structures. Access Bank operates with a woman board chair and woman chief operating officer alongside 50 percent female non executive directors. Meanwhile, Ghana in January 2025 inaugurated its first female vice president, marking what advocates consider overdue progress in political representation.

Corporate Ghana shows uneven but measurable advancement. Fourteen out of 36 listed companies achieved 30 percent or more women board representation in 2024, representing 39 percent of listed firms. That figure represents a seven percentage point improvement from 2023, though overall female board presence declined one percent to 24 percent as some companies reduced director numbers.

Political institutions lag dramatically. The 2023 Inter Parliamentary Union (IPU) report ranked Ghana 147th out of 193 countries, placing the nation behind regional neighbors Rwanda, Senegal, and Namibia. District level elections in December 2023 produced 95.9 percent male assembly members, with females constituting just 4.1 percent.

The contrast reflects different mechanisms for change. Corporate boards respond to shareholder pressure, international investment standards, and research linking diversity to performance. Companies chaired by women show 80 percent likelihood of achieving 30 percent diversity thresholds, compared to 26 percent for male chaired companies, demonstrating how leadership composition influences recruitment.

Politics operates under different constraints. Ghana’s single member district or first past the post electoral system is known by scholars as woman unfriendly, with candidate selection occurring through party primaries that research shows disadvantage female aspirants through financial barriers and structural bias.

Access Bank Managing Director Pearl Nkrumah emphasized institutional commitment drives results. The bank’s diversity represents strategic planning rather than compliance, she noted, with policies spanning leadership training, targeted recruitment, and mentorship programs designed to build female leadership pipelines.

That contrasts with political pathways where women candidates win in proportion to their candidacies, meaning if they represent 10 percent of candidates, they secure 10 percent of positions. The challenge lies not in voter discrimination but in barriers preventing women from becoming candidates initially.

Regional comparisons underscore Ghana’s political underperformance. Rwanda’s parliament shows women holding 63.8 percent of Chamber of Deputies seats and 53.8 percent of senate positions, achieved through constitutional provisions mandating minimum representation. African parliaments overall show women constituting 26 percent of lower houses and 21 percent of upper houses.

The corporate sector faces its own limitations. Financial services, despite having the highest aggregate number of women directors at 32, shows only 29 percent of sector companies achieving the 30 percent threshold. Some sectors perform better, with telecommunications, fast moving consumer goods, and publishing showing 100 percent of companies exceeding diversity benchmarks.

Access Bank Chair Ama Sarpong Bawuah connected board composition to business outcomes, arguing organizations reflecting market diversity gain advantages in innovation and sustainability. That business case reasoning influences corporate behavior differently than political incentives, where Ghana ranks 119th out of 146 countries in political empowerment according to the 2024 global gender gap report.

The persistence of male only boards highlights remaining work. Fourteen percent of listed companies maintained boards with no female directors in 2024, up from 11 percent in 2023. Progress appears neither linear nor guaranteed without sustained institutional pressure.

For observers tracking gender equity, Access Bank’s achievement illuminates both possibility and paradox. Corporate structures demonstrate Ghanaian women can occupy leadership when systems support advancement, while political institutions reveal how electoral mechanisms and cultural barriers combine to restrict representation despite women comprising 50.7 percent of Ghana’s population.

The question confronting policymakers involves whether corporate lessons translate to political reform, or whether fundamentally different incentive structures require separate strategies for achieving gender parity across public and private sector leadership.

Kevin Taylor Exposed OSP For Leaking Sensitive Petitions Against Them To The Media

0

The political commentator Kevin Taylor has accused the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) of leaking sensitive petitions to the media. Speaking on his show “With All Due Respect”, he revealed that one of the petitions, which President Mahama had forwarded to the Chief Justice for review, was reportedly leaked to Citinews.

According to Taylor, the Chief Justice sent a copy of the petition to the OSP seeking their response. However, instead of handling it privately, the OSP allegedly shared the petition with Citinews.

Kevin Taylor claim the media report claiming they intercepted the petition directly from the Chief Justice is not true as the OSP themselves gave the petition to the news outlet.

He described these actions as part of several “diabolic” moves by the OSP, aimed at manipulating public perception and creating misinformation. Taylor expressed concern that such leaks could undermine the integrity of sensitive investigations and compromise public trust in state institutions.

The petition in question is part of a series of complaints sent to President Mahama, requesting the removal of the Special Prosecutor and some Electoral Commission officials.

Once the President receives such petitions, they are sent to the Chief Justice, who examines them to see if there is a strong case. Only after this review can further action, including forming an investigative committee, take place.

Taylor’s revelations have sparked debate among the public about the conduct of the OSP. Many are questioning how an institution created to fight corruption could be involved in leaking sensitive information.

Citizens have called for transparency and strict adherence to rules, especially when handling petitions that could affect important national institutions.

The OSP has yet to respond to Kevin Taylor’s accusations. Meanwhile, the Chief Justice is expected to continue reviewing the petitions, while the media and the public watch closely for further developments.

NDC failing in galamsey fight, abusing state power

0

The General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Justin Kodua Frimpong, has slammed the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), accusing the administration of failing to deliver on major campaign promises and engaging in what he described as abuse of power.

Speaking on Wednesday, December 3, 2025, during the unveiling of the NPP’s amended constitution, Kodua said Ghanaians gave the NDC an “overwhelming mandate” in the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections with the expectation that the party would curb illegal mining, restore ethical governance, and strengthen national security.

According to him, almost a year into the NDC’s tenure, those expectations remain unmet.

Kodua asserted that illegal mining, or galamsey, has deteriorated under the current administration, posing an “existential threat” to the country’s environment. He further alleged that key state institutions were being used to intimidate political opponents and suppress critical journalism.

“We have witnessed escalating abuse of incumbency and state-sponsored intimidation of political opponents in the media,” he said.

“We have seen the disturbing pattern of filing nolle prosequi to free their members who are standing trial for allegedly embezzling huge sums of money from the state. We have seen attempts to capture our institutions, including the judiciary, and efforts to take parliamentary seats we have won.”

Kodua also accused the government of compromising the judiciary, referencing what he described as the controversial removal of former Chief Justice Gertrude Torkonoo.

“Unfortunately, the judiciary, which is supposed to be the last vanguard of the rule of law, has sadly been captured by the executive,” he claimed.

“Today, in Ghana, judges fear delivering justice according to the law because they fear they will also suffer the same consequences as Justice Torkonoo did.”

Remit Choice’s Millions Cedi Christmas Redefines Customer Rewards in Ghana

0

This festive season, Remit Choice is making a remarkable statement in Ghana’s digital remittance space. The Ghana Millions Cedi Christmas campaign, estimated at 30 million cedis, is shaping up to be one of the largest reward initiatives ever seen in the country. Beyond the festive cheer, this campaign signals both celebration and a strategic re-entry following Remit Choice’s reinstatement earlier this year after successfully navigating regulatory requirements.

Scalable Rewards That Grow with Participation

At the core of this initiative is a scalable reward system. Unlike traditional campaigns with fixed budgets, Remit Choice has tied the prize pool to participant engagement. As users send money, refer friends, and engage with the platform, the overall pool can grow—potentially exceeding the initial 30 million cedi estimate. This design ensures that every customer contributes to a collective achievement, creating a sense of shared success across the Ghanaian diaspora.

Industry observers note that this approach not only motivates existing users to remain active but also attracts new customers, reinforcing Remit Choice’s position as a dynamic, user-centred fintech platform.

Referral Structure: Connecting Communities and Rewards

The referral program is a central feature of the campaign, providing an opportunity for participants to earn substantial rewards while helping others join the platform. The program includes:

  • 600 GHS for the first two successful referrals
  • 300 GHS for each additional successful referral
  • 300 GHS for new users completing their first qualifying transfer

For example, a participant who successfully refers six friends who each send over 1,400 GHS to Ghana could earn 1,800 GHS, demonstrating the tangible benefits of active engagement. This tiered reward system encourages users to leverage their networks, effectively turning social connections into financial incentives while supporting families back home.

Christmas Bonus for Top Participants

Beyond referrals, the campaign rewards overall participation with a Christmas bonus. The top 1,000 qualified participants will each receive 2,050 GHS, provided they meet eligibility criteria that combine transfer activity, referrals, and social engagement. This performance-based approach motivates users to be consistent and strategic in their participation, ensuring that top performers are rewarded fairly for their contributions.

Elite Prizes: Recognizing Top Performers

Adding excitement and prestige, Remit Choice is offering two iPhone 17 Pro devices. One device will go to the top referrer, while the other rewards the highest-volume remitter. These elite prizes celebrate exceptional performance and create aspirational benchmarks for participants, elevating the campaign beyond standard monetary rewards.

Tech-Enabled Transparency

Transparency and real-time tracking are essential to the campaign’s success. Participants can monitor their referrals, transfer volume, rankings, and the growing prize pool through a dedicated in-app dashboard. This feature not only encourages ongoing engagement but also fosters friendly competition and accountability, giving participants the tools to strategize and maximize their rewards.

A Christmas Campaign Rooted in Commitment

This festive initiative highlights Remit Choice’s dedication to the Ghanaian community. Launching a campaign of this scale during the Christmas season underscores the company’s long-term commitment while spreading holiday cheer. It reassures customers and stakeholders alike that Remit Choice is a permanent and trusted player in the country’s digital remittance ecosystem.

A Redefined Approach to Customer Rewards

Through a combination of a scalable prize pool, performance-based ranking, and interactive engagement mechanics, Remit Choice is setting a new standard for holiday campaigns. The initiative not only incentivizes individual participation but also encourages the growth of the platform’s community, reinforcing loyalty and fostering stronger connections between the diaspora and families back home.

By merging festive spirit with strategic marketing, Remit Choice demonstrates how innovative fintech solutions can deliver meaningful impact while rewarding users. The Ghana Millions Cedi Christmas campaign exemplifies the potential for digital remittance platforms to combine community empowerment, customer loyalty, and growth, redefining expectations for holiday promotions in Ghana and beyond.

The investment price of the Bank of Ghana’s (BoG) gold coins continues to surge, a development attributed to the Ghana cedi’s depreciation against the US dollar.

The Central Bank introduced these gold coins as a strategic measure to discourage the hoarding of US dollars and absorb excess liquidity in the market, ultimately aiming to strengthen the cedi against major foreign currencies.

As of Wednesday, December 3, 2025, the BoG reported the following updated prices for its gold coins:

Here’s how much the Bank of Ghana’s gold coins are selling for now

• The 0.25 oz coin is now selling at GH¢12,935.78.

• The 0.50 oz coin is priced at GH¢25,121.76.

• The 1.00 oz coin is selling for GH¢49,540.14.

Bobi Wine likens his campaign trail to war

Opposition NUP presidential candidate Robert Ssentamu at a campaign Opposition NUP presidential candidate Robert Ssentamu at a campaign

Opposition National Unity Platform (NUP) presidential candidate Robert Kyagulanyi Ssentamu, known as Bobi Wine, told supporters in Luweero District on Tuesday that his campaign faces conditions resembling a war, citing alleged government interference and intimidation.

Addressing three rallies in Kalule, Zirobwe, and Kyegombwa, Bobi Wine said the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), led by President Museveni, spends billions of shillings on soldiers, police, vehicles, and other logistics aimed at disrupting his campaign.

Campaign-linked injuries and fatalities have been reported at multiple Bobi Wine rallies, amid clashes involving armed forces firing live rounds.

“Our campaign is not an ordinary campaign. We are almost at war. You can see the soldiers and vehicles deployed. These people even knock and kill our supporters,” Bobi Wine said at Kalule playground in Nyimbwa Sub-county.

Through out his campaign activities on Tuesday, Bobi Wine appeared to put on a bulletproof vest, similar to the protective gear worn by journalists in conflict zones.

During Sunday night’s NTV presidential debate, Bobi Wine called for cutting funding to security forces and redirecting the money to key sectors such as education, health, and infrastructure.

Two days later, he accused the NRM of turning a blind eye to land grabbing in areas including Luweero, saying, “It is ok for the NRM when our people are losing land to the grabbers and it is also ok when our people are failing to get all the other basic services. But I tell you that this is not ok. We shall recover our land when we vote out the NRM on January 15, 2026.”

Bobi Wine added that roadblocks, arbitrary arrests, police interference, and tear-gassing of supporters have marked his campaign, especially in the Buganda region, an opposition stronghold.

“Even as we talk, one of our supporters has just died because of injuries. This is the kind of campaign that we are going through. Our victory is assured, and this is why Museveni and his government are acting desperately,” he said.

Inspector General of Police Abas Byakagaba early this week defended security crackdowns at opposition rallies saying: “There is need to collocate the right to political expression with the rights of other members within the same ecosystem. It is our duty as police to ensure that both sides enjoy their rights, and whoever breaches the law is handled appropriately.”

Meanwhile, the rallies in Luweero were also addressed by NUP members of Parliament from Luweero, including Woman MP Brenda Nabukenya, Denis Ssekabira (Katikamu North), and Kirumira Hassan (Katikamu South), who highlighted illegal land evictions and disputed cases allegedly orchestrated by powerful actors in government.

“Our people have lost land to land grabbers,” Nabukenya told the candidate.

Luweero, with a 2024 population of 616,242, is part of Uganda’s cattle corridor and was the epicenter of the early 1980s war that brought the NRM (Museveni) to power.

The Electoral Commission lists 297,752 registered voters in the district, where Bobi Wine won 70.45% of the 2021 presidential vote.

Unlike previous public gatherings, Tuesday’s rallies were largely peaceful. However, confrontations occurred along sections of the Zirobwe-Gayaza road, where security forces reportedly engaged NUP supporters with tear gas.

“OSP Is One of the Most Useless Institutions Nana Addo Ever Created” – NPP’s George Opoku Explodes

News Hub Creator1h

A member of the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) communication team, George Opoku Amponsah, has launched a scathing attack on the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), describing it as one of the most “useless institutions” established under former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo.

Speaking during a media engagement, Amponsah argued that the OSP has failed to deliver any meaningful results since its creation. According to him, the institution has not lived up to its core mandate of fighting corruption and recovering stolen state funds, despite the huge expectations and resources invested in it.

He claimed that rather than becoming a strong anti-corruption force, the OSP has turned into a toothless agency that has made no significant impact on Ghana’s governance or accountability processes. Amponsah questioned why the NPP government allowed the establishment of an institution he believes has “brought nothing meaningful to the country.”

His comments add fuel to the long-running public debate about the effectiveness of the OSP. While some Ghanaians believe the office still holds great potential, critics argue that it has failed to prosecute high-profile cases and has become entangled in political controversies.

Amponsah’s blunt remarks have triggered mixed reactions, with some supporting his concerns and others blaming political interference and lack of resources for the OSP’s struggles.

As discussions intensify, the future of the Special Prosecutor’s office remains a hot topic in Ghana’s anti-corruption discourse.

Ghana’s Inflation Drop Creates Christmas Shopping Opportunity for Consumers

0

Inflation
Inflation

Ghanaian households preparing for Christmas celebrations will find their budgets stretching further this year as inflation hits its lowest point in over four years, creating favorable conditions for holiday spending.

The Ghana Statistical Service (GSS) announced that headline consumer inflation dropped to 8.0% year on year in October 2025, down from 9.4% in September, marking the tenth consecutive month of decline. This represents the lowest inflation rate since June 2021, offering families significant relief as they plan festive purchases.

The price moderation has been widespread across consumer categories. Food inflation fell to 9.5% in October from 11% in September, while non food inflation declined to 6.9% from 8.2% over the same period. Government Statistician Dr. Alhassan Iddrisu emphasized that the sustained decline demonstrates Ghana’s disinflation process remains firmly on course.

Month on month data revealed even stronger improvements, with overall consumer prices falling by 0.4% in October from 0.9% growth in September. This marked the first negative monthly inflation reading since June 2021, indicating that prices are not merely rising more slowly but actually declining in some categories.

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) responded to the improved inflation outlook by cutting its benchmark monetary policy rate by 350 basis points to 18% on November 26, 2025. This represents the third major rate cut of the year and brings the cumulative reduction to 1,000 basis points throughout 2025. BoG Governor Dr. Johnson Asiama stated the committee remains optimistic about maintaining price stability, with projections showing inflation will remain stable around the target through the first half of 2026.

The favorable economic conditions translate into tangible benefits for Christmas shoppers. Food staples including cereals, cooking oil, fish and vegetables have experienced the sharpest declines in price growth, reflecting improved agricultural yields and stable fuel prices. The transport sector recorded deflation of 4%, reflecting stable fuel prices and improved cost conditions.

Beyond food items, clothing and footwear prices eased from 11.0% to 9.5%, making apparel purchases more affordable for families planning festive wardrobes. Housing costs, including utilities, also moderated, leaving more disposable income available for discretionary spending.

The interest rate reduction will gradually translate into lower borrowing costs for consumers. Households considering purchases of appliances, electronics or other high ticket items through credit or installment plans should find financing more accessible in coming months as commercial banks adjust their lending rates downward.

Financial analysts attribute the disinflation success to tight monetary policy, fiscal consolidation and improved food supply conditions. The International Monetary Fund reached a staff level agreement with Ghana in October on the fifth review of the country’s ongoing loan programme, signaling continued confidence in economic management.

Regional variations in inflation remain significant. The North East Region recorded the highest inflation at 17.3%, while Bono East Region posted the lowest at just 1.1%, reflecting differences in food production, market access and transportation costs.

Consumer strategy experts recommend shoppers take advantage of current conditions by comparing prices across different markets and neighborhoods, as variability in local pricing persists despite overall moderation. Prioritizing essential goods, particularly food staples where price relief is most evident, can maximize household budget efficiency.

For larger purchases, the lower interest rate environment makes installment payment plans increasingly attractive. However, consumers should verify that commercial banks have passed through the central bank rate cuts to retail lending rates before committing to credit based purchases.

Economic risks remain despite the positive trajectory. Global commodity price swings, foreign exchange volatility or supply chain disruptions could affect imported goods prices. The cedi has appreciated approximately 30% against the US dollar this year, helping dampen import costs, but currency stability cannot be guaranteed.

Dr. Iddrisu advised policymakers to sustain gains through fiscal discipline and food system investments, stressing that government focus on irrigation, storage and efficient distribution networks would prevent price shocks. He emphasized the importance of making stability a lasting achievement rather than a temporary reprieve.

The confluence of falling inflation, reduced interest rates and stable exchange conditions provides Ghanaian households with an unusually favorable window for Christmas spending. While vigilance regarding potential economic headwinds remains prudent, current indicators suggest consumers can approach holiday purchases with greater confidence in their purchasing power than they have experienced in recent years.

Retailers and market vendors report increased foot traffic as consumers begin festive shopping, with many noting that customer confidence has improved noticeably compared to previous holiday seasons when double digit inflation constrained spending capacity.

In a 155-page decision shared by TheLawPlatform, the Tamale High Court held that non-compliance with electoral regulations had materially affected the integrity of the vote.

The petitioner, National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate Daniel Nsala Wakpal, had argued that the December 7, 2024, election was marred by irregularities challenging the legitimacy of the results from the December 7, 2024, election.

The official results annulled by the High Court showed Nyindam winning with 27,947 votes (53.47%) against Wakpal’s 24,213 votes (46.33%).

Renowned Ghanaian gospel musician, Evangelist Edward Akwasi, has recounted how his ex-wife divorced him after years of marriage.

In an interview with Akoma FM, shared on X on December 2, 2025, Evangelist Edward Akwasi revealed that his marriage began to fall apart after he cheated on his wife 20 years ago.

According to him, although his ex-wife stayed with him when the incident happened, everything changed when he later became financially unstable.

“My wife didn’t divorce me when I cheated on her during the time I was financially stable. Back then, I used to travel abroad, so she stayed with me and even gave birth to three children. My kids are now 20, 16, and 14 years old.

Edward Akwasi Boateng’s ex-wife drags him to court, demands 50% of property

“But she started complaining about the cheating that happened 20 years ago, at the time when I had lost all my money. She made it look like the cheating happened recently. Because of that, she even left the house and stayed somewhere else for six months until I went to plead with her to come back,” he said.

Evangelist Edward Akwasi further explained that despite his constant apologies, things became even worse after his wife built her own house and bought a car.

“So when she came back, she became financially stable and bought a car and even built a house. That was when things became worse. She said she couldn’t be with me anymore and that even if the Pope begged her, she wouldn’t listen. So we have been divorced for the past six years,” he added.

Dunyo was detained by US customs and border patrol officers Dunyo was detained by US customs and border patrol officers

A 35-year-old Ghanaian national living in London, identified as Patrick Kwaku Dunyo, has been apprehended, detained, and removed by US Customs and Border Protection officers.

Dunyo was detained at the Washington Dulles International Airport on Saturday, November 22, 2025, after he was flagged as being wanted by London authorities on alleged child rape charges.

According to a report on the official website of cbp.gov, Dunyo, described as a “wanted fugitive,” arrived on a flight from Frankfurt, Germany, after being sought by the London Metropolitan Police Service on charges of raping a 16-year-old and sexual assault during an incident alleged to have occurred on November 21.

The report added that London law enforcement learned of Dunyo’s departure on a flight bound for Dulles Airport, prompting a coordinated effort between the Metropolitan Police Service and the US Immigration and Customs Enforcement Homeland Security Investigations attaché at the US Embassy in London to ensure he was detained upon arrival at Dulles Airport.

Customs and Border Protection officers are reported to have verified Dunyo’s identity, determining that he was inadmissible to the United States.

The officers then allowed him to withdraw his application for admission and returned him to London, where he was arrested by local authorities.

Christine Waugh, the Customs and Border Protection Area Port Director for Washington, DC, said that by capturing criminals who attempt to flee across borders, the agency helps ensure that victims receive justice.

“Dulles airport may be about 3,700 miles from London, but this apprehension proves that authorities working together across the globe can ensure justice for all… CBP helps victims to have a voice by working with our law enforcement partners, both stateside and overseas, to capture wanted fugitives and return them to justice,” she said.

Additionally, Ricardo Mayoral, the Homeland Security Investigations Assistant Director of International Operations, stated that Dunyo’s removal demonstrates their commitment and efforts to protect victims.

“The successful removal of Patrick Dunyo, who was sought by London authorities in connection with serious child exploitation charges, demonstrates the unwavering commitment of Homeland Security Investigations to safeguarding the most vulnerable among us,” he said.

Why Wait Until December To Book Artistes? – Nana Kojo Mula

0

Nana Kojo Mula

Entertainment pundit, Nana Kojo Mula, has expressed concern over the trend of event organisers waiting until December to host events, arguing that this practice hinders the progress of the entertainment industry.

Speaking on the “Entertainment Guide” segment of DGN Television, hosted by Prudent, Nana Kojo Mula tackled the question: “Are Ghanaian artistes hosting their own December events helping the industry or pushing event organisers to look outside for talent?”

He questioned the rationale behind organisers postponing events until December, stating, “I don’t think event organisers are fading out. The real question is, why are they waiting until December to organise an event before booking artistes? There are 12 months in a year!”

Nana Kojo Mula emphasised that the desire to host major shows in December is detrimental to artistes. “If I’m an artiste and I’ve had a successful year, I wouldn’t wait until December to host my own event. Instead, I would perform at my friends’ events and plan my own for January or February. Imagine if Medikal filled a stadium in January; the buzz would carry right into the Telecel Ghana Awards (TGMA),” he said.

He further pointed out that the rush to host shows in December is largely due to the event calendar, where artistes feel pressured to have a significant show before being considered for the Artiste of the Year category, saying, “This cycle of waiting only contributes to stagnation in the industry.”
