Bawku mediation risks collapse if parties reject process – Austin Gamey warns

0

Renowned alternative dispute resolution (ADR) expert, Austin Gamey, has emphasised that mediation remains the most civilised and effective method for resolving protracted conflicts like the Bawku crisis—but only if all parties genuinely commit to the process.

Speaking on Joy Prime on Monday, 28th July, Mr Gamey cautioned that mediation can falter if the key stakeholders involved are not fully invested in its success.

“Mediation will normally not fail, and it has never failed before. It is the parties that may not accept to have the matter resolved and would like to go to the next level, if you like, arbitration,” he explained.

Citing the ongoing mediation effort led by the Asantehene, Mr Gamey noted that its outcome hinges on the credibility and goodwill of those participating.

“If it is really true that the parties voluntarily agreed to participate in the mediation process, and the cardinal guide that will trigger the process, and the consent to mediation, has been accepted by the parties, then normally the right people who are to participate in the decision-making process, that is to say, those who represent the owners of the conflict, must be present.

“Because the conflict has owners, and the owners must send their representatives that they have confidence in, such that at the end of the day, when a decision is made, it will be fully accepted,” he said.

Mr Gamey further warned that even with a structured process, outcomes could be compromised if mediators lack the requisite skill, experience, or understanding of the dynamics at play.

“If the mediators involved lack the necessary skill and understanding of the conflict, their efforts may fail to produce any meaningful outcome,” he cautioned.

His remarks follow a recent resurgence of violence in Bawku, which has led to the tragic death of two students and reignited long-standing tensions in the area.

Petition to Asantehene on CJ’s removal blocked by influential figures – Janet Nabla alleges

Janet Nabla, Chairperson of the People’s National Party (PNP), claims “influential government officials” are obstructing her campaign against the removal of suspended Chief Justice Gertrude Esaaba Torkornoo.

Nabla stated she was denied a scheduled meeting with Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on Friday, July 25,2025, despite an alleged confirmation from his office.

She had petitioned the Asantehene on July 1, 2025, seeking his intervention in the Chief Justice’s removal process.

Nabla expressed “disappointment” with the Manhyia Palace, noting that the Director-General of the Ghana Prisons Service, Patience Baffoe-Bonnie, reportedly met with the Asantehene around the same time she was denied access.

The PNP Chairperson directly accused “the presidency and other powerful government figures” of hindering her efforts.

Ghana, France sign debt restructuring pact

Finance minister, Cassiel Ato Forson (L) and the Secretary-General of Paris Club, William Roos (R) Finance minister, Cassiel Ato Forson (L) and the Secretary-General of Paris Club, William Roos (R)

France has become the first bilateral creditor to finalise a debt restructuring agreement with Ghana under the G20 Common Framework, marking a significant development in the West African nation’s recovery from its 2022 default.

The agreement gives legal effect to the memorandum of understanding (MoU) reached in June 2024 between Ghana and the Official Creditor Committee (OCC), co-chaired by France and China.

The deal is expected to pave the way for other creditors to follow suit and help unlock further disbursements from Ghana’s US$3 billion IMF programme.

Finance minister, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson described the bilateral agreement with France as a critical milestone in Ghana’s debt resolution process.

He said the signing capped two years of technical negotiations and political coordination, which began after the country suspended most external debt payments in late 2022.

Dr Forson noted that the deal with France, the first to be operationalised from the OCC’s framework, could act as a catalyst for agreements with other creditors.

He said the agreement would free up fiscal space for public investment in key sectors, including health, education, agriculture, and infrastructure.

The terms include a full suspension of debt service payments to France during the IMF programme period, alongside reductions in interest rates and an extension of maturities.

French officials said these provisions were intended to give Ghana both breathing space and leverage to secure deeper debt relief from private creditors.

William Roos, Secretary-General of the Paris Club and co-chair of the OCC, acknowledged the complexity of Ghana’s creditor landscape, which includes a mix of multilateral lenders, commercial bondholders, and bilateral creditors from both Paris Club and non-Paris Club countries such as China, India, and Saudi Arabia.

He said Ghana’s negotiating team had handled the process with professionalism, enabling the OCC to treat about 95 per cent of the eligible bilateral debt.

Roos also stressed the need for further improvements to the Common Framework process, noting that while Ghana’s case had moved faster than Zambia’s, delays still posed challenges to debtor countries.

He cited the 100 per cent suspension of debt service during the programme as a precedent-setting feature, aimed at encouraging private sector participation in the restructuring.

The French Ambassador to Ghana, Jules-Armand Aniambossou, said the agreement reflected the political will at the highest levels in Paris.

He added that President Emmanuel Macron had personally backed Ghana’s case due to the country’s strategic role in West Africa and the potential risks to regional stability had Ghana’s crisis deepened.

Ghana defaulted on its external debt in December 2022, following a sharp deterioration in its macroeconomic conditions.

Since then, the government has implemented fiscal adjustments and structural reforms as part of its IMF programme.

Dr Forson pointed to signs of macroeconomic stabilisation, including a decline in inflation from 54 per cent to 13.7 per cent, a rebound in reserves to cover 4.8 months of imports, and a 1.1 per cent primary surplus in the first half of the year.

Officials on both sides said the agreement opens the door for increased bilateral development cooperation.

Kevin Taylor Under Fire Over Alleged Attacks on Daddy Lumba Amid Sponsorship Claims

0

Controversial social commentator Kevin Taylor is once again at the center of a storm following remarks he made in the wake of the death of Ghanaian music legend Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly known as Daddy Lumba. Taylor’s comments, which many have described as divisive and insensitive, have ignited fierce backlash on social media, further deepening speculation about his motivations.

Taylor, who is often known for his confrontational style, has been accused by some critics of being sponsored by President John Mahama and his brother, Ibrahim Mahama, to disparage prominent individuals, especially those with ties to opposing political or social groups. These accusations have been amplified in recent days, particularly after his controversial take on the legacy of Daddy Lumba. The legendary highlife musician passed away recently, sparking a nationwide wave of mourning and tributes celebrating his immense contributions to Ghana’s music and cultural identity. While fans and colleagues alike praised Lumba’s enduring influence, Taylor’s remarks stood in stark contrast, prompting many to question his intentions and timing.

Among those speaking out are social media users and fellow media personalities who feel Taylor has crossed a line. The controversy comes amid Taylor’s ongoing public feuds with figures like Kwadwo Sheldon, with critics suggesting these disputes are less about accountability and more about clout-chasing.

“This is not the time for mudslinging,” one user posted on Facebook. “We are mourning a national treasure, not debating conspiracies.”

Others, however, argue that Taylor has every right to express dissenting opinions, even if unpopular. Still, questions persist: Is his brand of commentary constructive, or is it designed purely to provoke and divide?

As the debate rages, Daddy Lumba’s legacy continues to shine. Known for timeless hits and a career that spanned decades, his music united generations and broke boundaries across language, class, and culture. In contrast to the controversy stirred by Taylor, Lumba’s death has become a moment of collective reflection and national unity.

In an era where public discourse is increasingly polarized, the clash between Kevin Taylor’s rhetoric and Daddy Lumba’s legacy invites a broader question: What kind of voices do we uplift, and what values should guide our public conversations?Source

Ghana’s first Prime Minister and President, Dr Kwame Nkrumah, was captured in a now-viral photo observing a female factory worker operating a machine used for producing metal labels during a visit to a local industrial facility.

The visit, at the time, highlighted the government’s commitment to industrialisation and job creation in the post-independence era.

The image was shared by X user Kweku Opoku-Agyemang via his handle, @KwekuOA on July 28, 2025.

Throughout his tenure, Dr Nkrumah consistently championed state-led development and the expansion of local manufacturing as key pillars of Ghana’s economic transformation.

Dr Nkrumah and his administration also made deliberate efforts to promote technical skills among Ghanaians and reduce dependence on foreign imports.

As part of this agenda, the government invested heavily in industrial infrastructure and training to empower citizens and boost national productivity.

Dr Kwame Nkrumah is widely remembered for establishing numerous factories during his tenure, some of which remain operational today, while many others have become defunct.

These efforts formed part of a broader agenda to build a self-reliant economy and strengthen local expertise.

Explore Asian markets amid growing trade ties

Singapore Enterprise Regional Director for West Africa, Jean Ng Singapore Enterprise Regional Director for West Africa, Jean Ng

The Singapore Enterprise Regional Director for West Africa, Jean Ng, has urged Ghanaian investors and businesses to actively explore emerging opportunities in the Asian market.

Speaking during at a press briefing in Accra on July 24, 2025, Jean Ng stated that Ghana-Singapore trade has seen a notable 16 percent growth since 2020.

This growth was driven by strategic collaborations in manufacturing, agro-processing, energy and sustainability, the built environment, and general trade.

“Trade today is not just about physical goods crossing borders—it’s about ideas, digital services, setting global standards and partnerships. Our approach is collaborative. We want to create win-win partnerships where both sides grow together,” Jean Ng said.

She noted that the global economic climate, including trade tensions in key regions, makes it imperative for businesses to diversify their market reach.

Singapore’s call for deeper collaboration reflects its long-standing investment presence in Africa.

As of 2023, over $20 billion has been invested by Singapore-based companies, placing the country among the top ten investors on the continent.

Ng underscored Ghana’s attractiveness to foreign investors, citing political stability, a safe and friendly business environment, and the government’s commitment to building infrastructure that fosters business growth.

However, she also acknowledged several hurdles that foreign enterprises often encounter in Ghana.

These include difficulties in finding suitable business partners, challenges in accessing funding, a lack of quality data which affects transparency, and issues surrounding the licensing process for new businesses.

Despite these challenges, Jean Ng affirmed Singapore’s commitment to supporting startups through a robust entrepreneurial ecosystem and enhancing global connections that catalyze investment and innovation.

She also pointed to several high-potential products that Ghanaian entrepreneurs could introduce into Asian markets, including shea butter, African black soap, cashew nuts, rubber, chocolates, and real estate ventures.

Singapore’s outreach, she said, is part of a broader effort to reinforce cross-border partnerships and ensure sustainable trade growth between Africa and Asia.

There will be bloodshed in Akwatia if Mahama fails to act on Ablekuma by-election violence – NPP MP warns

0

The Member of Parliament (MP) for Assin South, John Ntim Fordjour, has warned that Ghana risks descending into electoral violence if President John Dramani Mahama fails to take decisive action against perpetrators of violence during the Ablekuma North election rerun.

Speaking in an interview shared on social media, the New Patriotic Party (NPP) MP cautioned that continued government inaction could spark bloodshed in Akwatia’s upcoming by-election and other future elections if political vigilantes are not punished.

Ntim Fordjour expressed concern over what he described as a growing culture of political violence allegedly perpetrated by elements within the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

“It’s not a strong signal, but if the president wants to continue his inaction in bringing the perpetrators to book, arresting them and prosecuting them, there’s going to be bloodshed in Akwatia and future elections. We don’t want bloodshed in future elections. Democracy cannot be traded for violence,” he stated.

He lamented that ordinary voters were becoming scared of participating in elections due to threats from political vigilantes.

“We don’t want a time where you put ballot boxes at polling stations and nobody will come out to vote because they fear being killed by political vigilantes.

“That is what the NDC is doing. It’s a dangerous trend, a national security threat that must be rooted out, and the president must show commitment. So far, he has demonstrated he doesn’t care,” he added.

The legislator also criticised the security agencies for what he described as a lacklustre response to the Ablekuma violence, alleging that only two people had been arrested out of more than 100 alleged hooligans involved.

“The minister has given his word that those engaged in the acts are going to be prosecuted. We heard yesterday that two people have been arrested.

“Two people? Out of how many? Over a hundred government-sponsored thugs were sent to exert mayhem, and you arrest two, and then we should clap for you? It’s shameful and disappointing,” he fumed.

According to him, failure to thoroughly investigate and prosecute the perpetrators will embolden political actors to replicate the same tactics in Akwatia and other upcoming elections.

The Assin South MP accused the NDC of using intimidation and violence to manipulate electoral outcomes during the 2024 elections.

The election, which saw the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate for Ablekuma North, Ewurabena Aubynn, elected as the Member of Parliament-elect for the constituency, was marred by violence.

Former Minister of Fisheries and Aquaculture, Mavis Hawa Koomson, was assaulted along with other party members during the chaos.

The rerun, held on Friday, July 11, 2025, followed months of controversy over the initial parliamentary results declared in December 2024, after rioting at the collation centre forced the suspension of vote counting from 19 polling stations.

Dr Bawumia’s call for unity resonates like Lincoln’s famous speech – Dr Acquah

0

Political Communications Consultant, Dr Ekow Acquah, has commended former Vice President of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, for using his solidarity address at last week’s NPP Delegates Conference to encourage the party members to embrace unity.

In an article authored by Dr Ekow Acquah, he described Dr Bawumia’s address as an “oratory masterpiece”, adding it reminded him of the iconic speech by Abraham Lincoln at his second inauguration which called on Americans to put their differences behind them and embrace unity.

“As the immediate past Vice President and Flagbearer, the mantle of delivering that all-important keynote address fell on Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. To a wounded party determined to heal and fight on, Dr. Bawunia had an onerous responsibility to deliver a masterpiece of a speech, to reinvogorate the over 5000 delegates gathered inside the stadium and millions of party members watching on televiosn across the country,” Dr. Ekow Acquah wrote.

He continued; “To the admiration of most inside the arena, and surely those watching live, Bawumia lived up to expectations. He was accorded the mantle of leadership at a crucial moment in the life of the NPP, he delivered and spoke like a leader.”

“First, he begun his address by telling the party stakeholders how he would have loved to be speaking to them “under different circumstances,” a clever introduction, which reflects the feelings of party members over the defeat the NPP suffered in both the Presidential and Parliamentary elections.”

“From that humble and apologetic introduction, Dr. Bawumia focused on conveying a sense of hope and optimism, and crucially, a rallying call for party unity, which resonated so well with party members.”

“The central theme of Bawumia’s address, unity, tolerance and respect for diversity, as well as the undying spirit of the elephant family to make a comeback from adversity, perfectly articulated the aspirations of party members,” he added.

“As I listened to Dr. Bawumia’s oratory masterpiece, rallying his party to embrace unity or perish, he reminded me of two iconic speeches in history: Abraham Lincoln’s second inaugural address, which passionately called on Americans to forget their difference and unite, after the Civil War, as well as the “Africa must unite” address by our former President, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, who called on Africa to unite for a stronger continent.”

Bawumia’s Congress Speech: an oratory masterpiece which will go down as one of his greatest

By Dr. Ekow Aquah, Political Communications Consultant

Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is renowned for his excellent oratory, which has often uplifted fellow NPP faithful in difficult situations.

So many times in the past, Bawumia’s oratory, has not only inspired, it has also provided much needed tonic to the elephant fraternity, when they have mostly needed it.

Whether at the Supreme Court facing the marauding Tsatau Tsikata; whether in opposition delivering piercing addresses against the first Mahama government; whether in government leading his cherished digitalisation drive or espousing feats chalked by the Akufo-Addo government, and whether on his own stage selling his ideas as Presidential Candidate, Dr. Bawumia’s deliveries have been excellent and invigorating.

Last weekend, when members of the NPP congregated at the University of Ghana for the first time after the 2024 election, for its Delegates Conference, it was a new reality for the party that ruled Ghana in the past eight years, under the leadership of Nana Akufo-Addo.

For Dr. Bawumia, it was a painful reality as the party’s Flagbearer for the 2024 Presidential electio. And as faith would have it, Dr. Bawumia delivered the “keynote address” of the crucial Congress following the coincidental absence of the party’s two ex leaders, Presidents Kufuor and Nana Akufo-Addo.

As the immediate past Vice President and Flagbearer, the mantle of delivering that all-important keynote address fell on Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. To a wounded party determined to heal and fight on, Dr. Bawunia had an onerous responsibility to deliver a masterpiece of a speech, to reinvogorate the over 5000 delegates gathered inside the stadium and millions of party members watching on televiosn across the country.

As Bawumia, flanked by his ever supportive wife made the long walk from the VIP section of the stadium to the podium at the centre of the pitch, he received a thunderous applause which only increased the weight of expectations.

To the admiration of most inside the arena, and surely those watching live, Bawumia lived up to expectations. He was accorded the mantle of leadership at a crucial moment in the life of the NPP, he delivered and spoke like a leader.

First, he begun his address by telling the party stakeholders how he would have loved to be speaking to them “under different circumstances,” a clever introduction, which reflects the feelings of party members over the defeat the NPP suffered in both the Presidential and Parliamentary elections.

From that humble and apologetic introduction, Dr. Bawumia focused on conveying a sense of hope and optimism, and crucially, a rallying call for party unity, which resonated so well with party members.

Being the exceptional communicator he has always been, Bawumia, in stressing the need for party unity, tolerance and respect for diversity, used the remarkable past of the NPP’s founding fathers, and how they came together from different parts of the country under different groups, to form the United Party (UP).

The central theme of Bawumia’s address, unity, tolerance and respect for diversity, as well as the undying spirit of the elephant family to make a comeback from adversity, perfectly articulated the aspirations of party members.

As I listened to Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, who called on Africa to unite for a stronger continent.

Like America under Lincoln, the situation the NPP faces now requires an urgent need for party unity. And at such a crucial gathering of stakeholders, party members needed to go home rejuvenated, with a sense of hope and purpose. The party needed a strong voice to lead, to rally and to inspire

In Dr. Bawumia, the NPP had its own Abraham Lincoln, who delivered an inspiring speech. Many years to come, people will look back at this powerful address by Bawumia, as one of his greatest political speeches, which did not only call people into action, but also inspired and gave millions hope.

A report by YenNews, a touching video of one of Daddy Lumba’s final performances has resurfaced on social media, leaving many fans emotional following news of his passing.

The legendary Ghanaian musician, Charles Kwadwo Fosu—popularly known as Daddy Lumba—passed away on Saturday, July 26, 2025, at the Bank Hospital in Accra. Shortly after the announcement, videos from his past shows, especially his 60th birthday celebration, began circulating online.

In one particularly emotional clip shared on X, Daddy Lumba gave what many are now calling a farewell performance. He expressed heartfelt appreciation to several individuals who had played vital roles in his life, including his former teacher, Mama Acheampong, and close confidant Nana Twum.

> “Mama Acheampong trained me from childhood. She was my Agric teacher. I was always top of my class until I left school. Many accuse my wife, Akosua Serwaa, of poisoning me, but that’s false. I had spine surgery. Mama Acheampong took me to the hospital, and Nana Twum paid all my bills. I’m grateful to you all,” he shared emotionally.

The highlight of the event was his performance of “Akwanoma”—a Twi word meaning “lone traveler”—which he revealed would be his last song of the night. The song’s message about giving one’s best in life before departing resonated deeply with fans.

> “My life is a sacrifice. I will only do what I can, and when it’s my time to go, I will leave,” he told the audience.

The footage, along with similar moments from other performances and his final visit to his radio station, DL FM, has led fans to believe Daddy Lumba may have sensed his time was near. His consistent choice of “Akwanoma” as a closing song and his frequent farewells left many wondering.

Mysterious condition reappears as Trump visits Scotland

0

Donald Trump appeared with makeup on his hands again during his trip to Scotland just weeks after the White House explained the president’s mysterious bruises.

The Daily Mail first reported on Trump’s mysterious hand bruising back in February, revealing that Trump’s glad-handing had brought on the result.

Earlier this month, Trump, 79, appeared at a White House press gaggle with what looked like makeup covering a patch on the back of his hand, sparking concerns.

‘This is consistent with minor soft-tissue irritation from frequent handshaking and use of aspirin, which is taken as part of a standard cardiovascular prevention regimen. This is a well-known and benign side effect of aspirin therapy,’ White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt recently divulged.

The president has spent the past few days in Scotland meeting with everyone from UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer to European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.

The makeup covering those bruises has been visible in multiple press photos throughout Trump’s trip.

Once again, the president appears to be using a lot of concealer to keep the bruise from showing up when he announced a new trade deal with the EU.

The makeup appeared to be concealing a raised circular area of skin that Trump’s team may have been eager to hide.

Donald Trump appeared with makeup on his hands again during his trip to Scotland just weeks after the White House explained the president’s mysterious bruises

Earlier this month, in a surprise statement from the podium during a press briefing, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt told reporters the president was checked out by his doctor after noticeable ‘swelling’ and revealed that Trump has been diagnosed with ‘chronic venous insufficiency.’

The splotch has been visible on other occasions throughout the past month, sparking a new round of questions about the cause.

The makeup appeared to be concealing a raised circular area of skin.

Leavitt said during her rare medical update that the president recently ‘noticed mild swelling in the lower legs’ and ‘in keeping with routine medical care and out of the abundance of caution,’ he was evaluated by the White House medical unit.

He underwent a ‘comprehensive examination’ which included ‘diagnostic vascular studies.’

‘Bilateral, lower extremity ultrasounds were performed and revealed chronic venous insufficiency,’ Leavitt stated.

She said it’s a ‘common condition’ in individuals over the age of 70 and there was ‘no evidence’ of deep vein thrombosis or arterial disease.

‘The president remains in excellent health,’ Leavitt said overall.

‘Importantly, there was no evidence of deep vein thrombosis or arterial disease,’ she added.

Leavitt said in response to a question that there was ‘no discomfort from the president at all.’

She then pointed to his daily activities. ‘And you probably all see that on a day-to-day basis, he’s working around the clock. As for the treatment, I can defer to the president’s physician,’ she said.

The letter released by White House Physician Sean Barbarella, DO, references ‘mild swelling’ in Trump’s lower legs, and states the diagnosis emerged after a series of vascular studies.

Neither Leavitt nor the letter addressed whether Trump would have to modify any of his routines, which include frequent golfing at his private courses on weekends, and his trademark dance moves to ‘Y.M.C.A.’ when he addresses rally crowds.

Leavitt said there was ‘no discomfort’ for the president at all.

Officials have previously mentioned Trump’s frequent handshaking – Trump regularly interacts with a large number of people at White House events and when he travels – as the cause of the bruising, but have not previously identified the aspirin issue.

The bruising had stayed with Trump from the presidential campaign through his return to the White House.

It had even been spotted during Trump’s Manhattan court fight in the Stormy Daniels case.

According to the Cleveland Clinic, chronic venous insufficiency occurs when leg veins are damaged, making it more difficult for blood to return to the heart.

It ‘causes blood to pool in your leg veins, leading to high pressure in those veins.’

The condition is fairly common, affecting one in 20 adults, and the risk increases with age. It can lead to achy legs, a feeling of ‘pins and needles,’ cramping, swelling and itching, as well as ‘Leathery-looking skin on your legs.’

Up to half the people who have had deep vein thrombosis later develop post-thrombotic syndrome within a year or two. That relates to scar tissue that can develop after a blood clot.

Trump was the oldest person to take the Oath of Office when he was sworn in in January at age 78.

He has said repeatedly that his predecessor Joe Biden, 82, had no idea what he was doing and this week opened a probe into an alleged ‘cover-up’ through his use of an autopen for a series of commutations.

Trump reposted an item in May calling Biden a ‘decrepit corpse,’ days after Biden got a prostate cancer diagnosis.

Trump has made a point of demonstrating his own physical and mental vigor – taking question after question from reporters inside the Oval Office, sometimes speaking for up to an hour.

NLA donates GHS100K to blind support for entrepreneurial programme

The National Lottery Authority (NLA) has presented a cheque of One Hundred Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS 100,000) to Blind Support, a non-governmental organization that supports persons with disabilities.

This is to enable them to carry out a skills training program aimed at equipping Persons with Disabilities and Affiliates with basic entrepreneurial and employable skills.

The Director-General of NLA, Mr. Mohammed Abdul-Salam, in presenting the cheque of GHS 100,000, commended Blind Support for initiating this project to support persons with disabilities and help keep them off the streets.

“This initiative by Blind Support is a laudable one. The individuals undertaking this project are men of honour and high repute, which helps to dispel the impression that persons with disabilities are bound to the streets as beggars. The initiative will help ensure that they are equipped with productive and industry-relevant skills, providing them with sustainable employment opportunities’’ – He said.

Citing Section 2 (3) of the National Lotto Act, 2006 (Act 722), which mandates the NLA “to operate a lotto with the object of providing care and protection for the physically or mentally afflicted, the needy, the aged, orphans and destitute children,” Mr. Abdul-Salam, said the NLA will continue to partner with Blind Support to enable them expand this project.

Mr. Anthony Gyening, the Project Coordinator of Blind Support and a lecturer at the University of Education, Winneba, recounted the difficult living conditions faced by persons with disabilities. He expressed sincere gratitude to the NLA for their generous donation, highlighting the significant and positive impact it will have on the lives of the beneficiaries.

He also thanked the Good Cause Foundation for its support over the years and looked forward to a continued partnership.

Mr. Abdul-Salam, the Director-General of NLA, also presented a cheque for Fifty Thousand Ghana Cedis (GHS 50,000) to the National Youth Authority (NYA) in support of their upcoming National Youth Festival, aligning with the Youth and Sports Development Pillar of the Good Causes Foundation to promote youth development.

The NLA Good Causes Foundation is the Authority’s charity arm, spearheading its corporate social responsibility. The Foundation operates on four pillars: Health, Education, Youth and Sports Development, and Arts and Culture.

The Health Pillar focuses on providing infrastructure support, training mental health workers, providing hospital supplies, and expanding nationwide medical outreach services for specific ailments.

The Education Pillar focuses on providing educational support to brilliant but financially disadvantaged students. NLA also supports educational institutions with the necessary logistics and sponsors programs and projects that meet the Foundation’s objectives.

The Youth and Sports Development Pillar encompasses enhancing the capacity of young people and supporting sporting activities, with a focus on promoting lesser-known sports. It also provides technical and skills support to SMES owned by young individuals to encourage innovation. Special emphasis is also placed on persons with disabilities and those with special needs who may be interested in entrepreneurship.

The Arts and Culture Pillar supports projects that safeguard and protect Ghanaian cultural events and educational programs.

The NLA Governing Board also determines discretionary projects that the Authority undertakes annually.

$7m cyber-defence software trial: Witness details ‘Ghana Must Go’ bag money movements from bank to accused persons

0

The first prosecution witness in the trial of former Director-General of the National Signals Bureau (NSB), Kwabena Adu-Boahene, and three others, has testified that he had been withdrawing money for the accused persons for the past five years.

Mounting the witness box to testify on July 18, the chauffeur, Frank Anane Dekpey, told the court that the money was mainly in large “Ghana Must Go” bags, and each time he went to the bank, the bank staff gave him a receipt to write his name, telephone number and append his signature.

He recalled sending the withdrawn money to either Mr Adu-Boahene or Madam Donkor, but never to Madam Adjei-Boateng.

“I normally took instructions from Mildred Donkor (wife of Adu-Boahene), with the envelope sealed, to the UMB Bank Labone.

“Then I gave it to one of the employees and waited until the money was ready, then I picked it up,” he said.

In court with Adu-Boahene are his wife, Angela Adjei Boateng, and another, Mildred Donkor, a former bank relations officer for the two and director of Advantage Solutions Limited (ASL), the sole shareholder of a private company that the prosecution alleged was used to receive the GH¢49 million.

Adu-Boahene and Angela have been accused of moving GH¢49 million, meant for purchasing the software for the state, into their private company through a complex web of companies ultimately owned by ASL.

On the other hand, Mildred has been accused of assisting the couple in moving the money, which the prosecution alleged had been used to purchase landed properties in Accra, Kumasi and London.

In all, the four accused persons — Adu-Boahene, Boateng, Donkor and ASL — have pleaded not guilty to 11 counts of offences ranging from defrauding by false pretences, one count of wilfully causing financial loss to the state, one count of using public office for personal gain and one count of obtaining public property by false pretences.

Deposits

In his testimony, the prosecution witness claimed Mildred Donkor often sent him to deposit or withdraw money at UMB or Stanbic Bank to be given to Mr Adu-Boahene at his office at Labone in Accra.

He said he used to collect money from the Labone branch of UMB Bank and also made deposits and withdrawals from the Airport branch of  Stanbic Bank on the instructions of Madam Donkor.

Anane Dekpey told the court that most of the time, he did not know the exact amount of money he withdrew because the cheques were sealed in an envelope and directed by Madam Donkor to be delivered to a specific staff member at the bank for cashing.

In his narration, the witness also mentioned Vertex Solutions Limited, where he made several deposits of money he had withdrawn from Stanbic Bank on the instructions of Madam Donkor.

During cross-examination, the defence lawyer, Samuel Atta Akyea, sought to know if the witness had worked with the National Security, to which he answered in the negative. Lawyer Atta Akyea further inquired into the arrest of the witness by EOCO.

The witness admitted that he was invited by the organisation, which he voluntarily honoured. Prosecution witness Anane Dekpey said he was detained for almost a week, interrogated and released on bail.

The witness said he was interrogated because his signature was found behind the bank receipts.

Further probing by the defence lawyer on the reason for the detention of the witness was objected to by the Deputy Attorney-General, who said the witness had already answered the question.

Meanwhile, Donkor, whom Mr Atta Akyea was representing, has decided to get a new lawyer.

Minority Chief Whip demands urgent briefing over mysterious killings

0

Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh has made a passionate appeal to Parliament, urging the Speaker to immediately summon the Interior Minister for a closed-door briefing following a series of killings across the country.

“It is very sad today, our colleague related a sad matter – killings of innocent citizens – and Speaker, I say this with a heavy heart,” he said on the floor of Parliament Friday, July 25.

Army deploys forces in Bawku

0

The government has escalated its security strategy in Bawku from peacekeeping to peace enforcement following renewed clashes that threaten the fragile peace process in the Upper East Region.

In this regard, the Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) have intensified operations, enforcing stricter curfew measures to restore order in the restive town.

A statement issued by the Spokesperson to the President and Minister for Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, warned that security forces would “take all necessary measures” to protect lives and property in the area.

The government acknowledged the near-successful mediation by the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, supported by the Nayiri (Mamprugu Overlord) and Zugraana (Kusasi Chief), which had nearly resolved the decades-old conflict before the latest violence erupted.

The Bawku chieftaincy crisis, primarily between the Kusasi and Mamprusi ethnic groups, dates back to colonial-era disputes over traditional authority.

Despite intermittent peace, the area has suffered recurrent bloodshed, displacing thousands and disrupting socio-economic activities.

Hopeful progress has been seen in recent months but fresh killings last week forced the government’s tough response.

Appeal for Calm

While regretting the inconvenience to residents, the statement urged full cooperation with security forces, and called on factions to “refrain from violence” and support dialogue.

It assured students and vulnerable groups of special protection as enforcement measures take effect.

Recent efforts

The Nayiri of Mamprugu, Naa Bohagu Mahami Abdulai Sheriga, recently offered to make some concessions in the Bawku conflict mediation efforts that would  bring lasting peace to the area.

President John Dramani Mahama consequently commended the Overlord of the Mamprugu Traditional Area for his “dignified and statesmanlike” role in mediating the protracted conflict in Bawku.

Speaking during a courtesy call by a delegation from the Nayiri at the Jubilee House, President Mahama revealed that the Nayiri had shown willingness to make concessions to resolve the conflict following collaborative discussions with the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

“I was with His Royal Majesty, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, two days ago, and he briefed me on the cooperation you have given him in finding a final traditional solution to the conflict,” President Mahama said.

“I commend you for the concessions you are willing to make to see lasting peace in Bawku,” he added.

The President pledged the government’s support to restore lasting peace in the troubled area.

He described Bawku, once a thriving commercial hub, as a “pale shadow of itself” due to the violence, which had displaced professionals and forced public workers to reject postings to the area.

Context

The protracted conflict has claimed hundreds of lives, with various commercial establishments, including banks, shutting offices in the area.

In 2024, the Judicial Service closed courts in the conflict area as staff lived in constant fear in the midst of the unending violence.

In April, this year, traditional ruler and Chancellor of the University of Education Winneba (UEW), Neenyi Ghartey, appealed to the government and other actors in the Bawku conflict to pursue efforts towards lasting peace with urgency.

He urged the government and relevant agencies to work to intensify efforts, including diplomatic, developmental and security-based strategies, to bring lasting peace to the area.

“This is not a Bawku issue.

This is a national responsibility. Let us not treat this as a distant conflict, but as a national wound that requires our collective healing,” Neenyi Ghartey said in a passionate appeal during an address at the second session of the 29th congregation of the UEW.

Neenyi Ghartey’s appeal came in the wake of the uncertainty that had enveloped the area for years as the violent conflict continued to impact education, health care and other aspects of the economy.

Two male students of Nalerigu Senior High School in the North East Region have been shot dead in a shocking gun attack believed to be linked to the long-running Bawku conflict, according to a myjoyonline.com report.

The tragic incident occurred on the evening of Saturday, July 26, 2025, when unidentified gunmen stormed the school premises and opened fire, killing the students on the spot.

The victims, identified by their first names as Lukman and Gideon, were reportedly in their dormitory at the time of the attack.

The incident has plunged the school and surrounding communities into mourning, with many expressing fear and outrage over the rising insecurity in the area.

Dr Ato Forson uncovers 14,000 ‘ghost names’ on government payroll

0

Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson

The Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has disclosed the discovery of fourteen thousand ghost names on the government payroll, raising fresh concerns about irregularities in public sector recruitment and wage administration.

Speaking in an interview on Accra-based Citi FM on Friday, July 25, 2025, Dr Forson revealed that the ghost workers were primarily found in the security, education, and health sectors.

This, he said, runs into several millions of Ghana cedis annually.

He indicated that these were recruitments made in the last quarter of 2024, but the individuals in question could not be validated.

The finance minister said his ministry, in collaboration with the Auditor-General, has commenced a comprehensive audit of the public payroll to sanitize the system.

He added that the ongoing audit, which is 90 percent complete, has also uncovered about 53,000 “separated staff” — individuals who have retired but are still receiving salaries.

“These are people who are no longer in active service and should not be on the payroll. Yet, they continue to draw salaries,” Dr Forson noted.

He noted that the Auditor-General is happy, and he is now working.

Despite the irregularities, the Minister stated that newly hired individuals who were engaged improperly will not be dismissed.

“Sacking them is not an option we are pursuing,” he said.

“They are Ghanaians,” he added in a measured tone, suggesting a humane approach to resolving the issue.

Dr Forson assured the public that the Ministry is committed to ensuring a clean and credible payroll system.

“Why Must I Wait for Lumba to Die?” – Lil Win Explodes as Critics Tear Down His Movie on Traoré

0

Actor Lil Win has reacted with strong emotions after being attacked online for working on a movie about Burkina Faso’s President Ibrahim Traoré. He didn’t hold back, especially when he mentioned the names of Kwadwo Sheldon and Scanty, who were among those questioning why he would focus on a foreign president instead of honouring a local legend like Daddy Lumba while he is still alive.

Clearly angry, Lil Win defended his work with passion. He couldn’t understand why people would compare the two topics as if they were connected. In his view, it made no sense to drag his name just because he had decided to create a film that highlights the story of a young African leader who has inspired many people across the continent. But the noise online kept growing, especially with some voices saying that Lil Win had ignored his own country’s greats and instead chose to shine a light on someone from another country.

This clearly touched a nerve. He did not remain silent. Instead, he hit back at his critics directly and by name. He said people like Kwadwo Sheldon and Scanty were only talking because they had platforms, but what they were saying was unfair. He strongly rejected the idea that he had shown any disrespect to Daddy Lumba, and made it clear he still admired the legend deeply.

He made his point very clearly and without hiding his feelings. His voice and tone showed that he felt hurt by the attack on his character and his work. As a creative person, he believes in telling stories that matter, no matter where they come from. The criticism that came his way for not “celebrating Daddy Lumba before his death” seemed, to him, not just unfair but also misleading. He seemed to be saying that honouring one person does not mean ignoring another.

Lil Win didn’t just defend himself with words, he also called out the people leading the attacks. He didn’t try to explain or apologise for the project. Instead, he stood firm and fought back with full force. His message was simple: he believes in the story he is telling, and no one will stop him from doing what he thinks is right.

To him, art is not about pleasing everyone. It’s about telling stories that move people, even if some others do not agree. He said the constant focus on pulling people down is what keeps Ghana from moving forward. He didn’t understand why people always want to wait until someone dies before giving them respect. And yet, when someone chooses to do something different, they are attacked and insulted.

Mahama Promises Major Infrastructure Investments for Oti Region

0

President John Dramani Mahama has announced comprehensive development plans for Ghana’s Oti Region, pledging significant investments in infrastructure and social services during his Thank You Tour finale in Dambai. The announcement outlined a multi-faceted approach to transforming the region’s economic landscape.

Speaking at a traditional durbar attended by chiefs, political leaders, and community members, Mahama detailed plans for a new regional hospital that would serve as a referral center for advanced medical care. The facility, he explained, would significantly reduce the need for patients to travel to other regions for specialized treatment.

Transportation infrastructure received particular attention in the announcement, with Mahama committing to complete the long-awaited Eastern Corridor Road project. This strategic highway development aims to improve connectivity between Oti Region and neighboring areas, facilitating trade and commerce.

A major bridge construction project over River Oti was also unveiled, promising to eliminate seasonal disruptions to transportation and enhance year-round access to communities previously isolated during rainy seasons. Additionally, multiple key roads throughout the region will undergo upgrades to modern standards.

“These developments are not just about concrete and steel,” Mahama emphasized. “They represent our commitment to unlocking the full economic potential of the Volta Basin and ensuring that the people of Oti Region receive their fair share of national resources.”

The former president highlighted the region’s strategic importance as a gateway to Togo and stressed that improved infrastructure would attract investment and create employment opportunities for youth.

Local leaders and residents welcomed the announcements, noting that many of these projects have been long-awaited. Traditional chiefs praised Mahama’s commitment, calling it a fulfillment of campaign promises made during his presidency.

The Eastern Corridor Road, in particular, has been a subject of political debate for decades, with previous administrations making limited progress on its completion. Mahama’s renewed commitment signals a potential acceleration of development efforts in the region.

Political analysts suggest these announcements may position Mahama strategically ahead of future electoral considerations while addressing genuine developmental needs in one of Ghana’s newer administrative regions.

I will shoot and kill Kevin Taylor if he sets foot in Kumasi-Man threatens

0

A Kumasi-based man has sparked outrage online after threatening to shoot and kill US-based Ghanaian journalist, social media commentator and NDC(National Democratic Congress) supporter, Kevin Taylor, if he visits the Ashanti regional capital, Kumasi.

Kevin Taylor, who is currently in Ghana, has been vocal in his criticism of the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and, on occasion, the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.

Ghana’s foreign policy must prioritise citizens -Quayson

0

Parliament on Friday vetted four presidential nominees appointed by President John Dramani Mahama.

The Deputy Minister-designate for Foreign Affairs, James Gyakye Quayson, answering questions from the appointments committee, said he believed that most of these so-called advanced countries were milking Ghanaians with visa application fees.

According to the Assin North MP, “most of these countries are using that as revenue to support their embassies and if “We don’t know that and we think that, they are rich countries so they are able to afford to set up embassies here in Ghana, that is not the case, most of the revenues are coming from us Ghanaians to support their embassies, and we’ve got to find a way to put an end to that.”

He was answering questions on whether he would push for a policy to ensure that visa application fees were refunded by foreign embassies when the application is denied.

Mr Quayson said, “I think it is an administrative sector policy” that ought to be looked at.

“On average, most African youth, because of a lack of opportunities, want to travel outside. A visa is not cheap. Even just the application form alone is about $160, which could be a month or two months’ pay for some of our youth on labour, and these embassies are collecting this money and denying almost 90 to 95 per cent of them their rightful visas,” he added.

He indicated that the country has to find a way to streamline this to save the youth, saying most of these countries are using that as revenue to support their embassies, if care is not taken people may think the rich countries are setting up their embassies to streamline the activities of foreigners wanting to enter their countries.

“That’s not the case because most of these revenues are coming from us to support their embassies, and we’ve got to find a way to put an end to that,” he added.

He said Ghana’s foreign policy must reflect the country’s interests.

“Foreign policy is not about protecting foreign nations only. First and foremost, it should be protecting us; it should be reciprocated. Our domestic policy is what we extend to the foreign policy,” he added.

The other appointees vetted were Dorcas Afo-Toffey, Member of Parliament (MP) for Jomoro, as Deputy Minister of Transport; Mohammed Adam Sukparu (MP) for Sissala West for the position of Deputy Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations and Grace Ayensu-Danquah (MP) for Essikado-Ketan as Deputy Minister of Health.

Hold tight policy rate to cement disinflation gains

0

The International Monetary Fund (IMF) is urging the Bank of Ghana to maintain a tight monetary policy stance to sustain recent progress in lowering inflation, even as some stakeholders call for interest rate cuts.

At a press briefing in Washington, IMF Communications Director Julie Kozack acknowledged Ghana’s encouraging disinflation momentum, noting that inflation had declined sharply from a peak of 54 percent at the end of 2022 to 13.7 percent by June 2025.

“Going forward, it will be important for monetary policy to remain sufficiently tight, consistent with bringing inflation down to the Bank of Ghana’s target range of 8 percent, plus or minus 2 percentage points,” she stated.

The IMF’s caution comes as Ghana’s headline inflation has fallen for six consecutive months reaching 13.7 percent in June, down from 23.8 percent in December 2024.

Despite this progress, the policy rate remains elevated at 28 percent, with some analysts and business groups advocating for easing in response to improved macroeconomic indicators.

“Ghana has made good progress since the beginning of the program in reducing inflation. Inflation was extremely high at the end of 2022 at 54%. It has now come down substantially to 14% at end June 2025″, she added.

The IMF’s remarks coincide with the start of the Bank of Ghana’s 125th Monetary Policy Committee meeting, which began today, Monday, July 28.

The three-day meeting will assess recent economic developments, including inflation trends, currency performance, and financial sector stability.

Ghana is currently under a $3 billion IMF-supported Extended Credit Facility aimed at restoring macroeconomic stability, ensuring debt sustainability and promoting inclusive growth.

High Court dismisses application to strike out suit against BoG

0

An application seeking to strike out the suit in which a retiree has sued the central bank over the depreciation of the cedi has been dismissed by the High Court in Accra.

In a ruling, the court, presided over by Justice Audrey Kocuvie-Tay, upheld arguments made by the retiree’s lawyers, saying the suit was not an abuse of the court process.

She added that the plaintiff’s suit was founded on gross negligence, a justiciable cause of action, dismissing claims by lawyers for the Bank of Ghana (BoG) that there was no reasonable cause of action for the retiree to bring the matter before the court.

The application was filed by lawyers for the BoG, who believed the suit was an abuse of the court process.

With this out of the way, the court will now go into the merit of the substantive case, in which Balbir Violet Allan, a resident of Adabraka, has sued the BoG and Dr Ernest Addison for allegedly failing to develop or implement any credible plan consistent with the law to stabilise the currency.

Background

In a writ filed at the Accra High Court, the plaintiff, Allan, who has sued the BoG and Dr Addison, contends that the Governor assumed office in February 2017 at a time when the cedi-dollar exchange rate was GH¢4.26 to $1, but left office in February 2025 with a surged rate of GH¢15.49 to $1, representing a depreciation of approximately 264 per cent.

The plaintiff claims that the significant decline in the cedi’s value has caused substantial losses in her investments’ value and purchasing power in government treasuries, particularly ESLA Bonds.

She argues that while the law mandated the Bank of Ghana, through its Governor, to provide the state with a stable currency, the second defendant allegedly chose to allow the value of the cedi to be determined solely by market forces, including demand and supply on the foreign exchange (forex) markets, leading to its instability and volatility.

Reliefs

Ms Balbir said that unless the court granted an order to recover her losses, she would have no recourse for recovery or restitution of the lost value of investment capital.

She is, therefore, asking the court to lift the corporate veil shielding the Bank of Ghana and to hold both the bank and the former Governor jointly and severally liable for her investment losses.

Among other reliefs, the plaintiff is seeking a declaration that the second defendant had been grossly negligent, allegedly in the management of the cedi through the first defendant (BoG).

Also, a declaration that the exchange rate losses she had suffered were enforceable against both defendants, jointly and severally.

‘COA-72 not approved by FDA for clinical trials for HIV’

0

The COA Research and Manufacturing Limited Company (COARMLC) has officially denied claims suggesting that its product, COA-72, is undergoing clinical trials as an anti-HIV drug.

According to the company, a widely circulated report published by the Daily Graphic on Wednesday, July 16, 2025, is inaccurate and does not reflect the facts presented during a recent visit by the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health to its facility.

In a statement signed by management and released on Monday, July 28, 2025, COARMLC described the media coverage as misleading and reiterated its commitment to scientific integrity, regulatory procedures, and honest communication with the Ghanaian public and international partners.

“The publication misrepresented our position. Nowhere did we state that COA-72 is in active clinical trials for HIV treatment,” the company emphasized. “We are compelled to issue this clarification to prevent the public from being misled and to reaffirm our integrity as a science-driven institution.”

The controversy arose from a working visit by the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health to COARMLC’s facility on Monday, July 14, 2025.

While the visit aimed to showcase the company’s ongoing research, COARMLC says the Daily Graphic article inaccurately suggested that COA-72 had entered official clinical trial stages.

Following the publication, COARMLC promptly contacted the Daily Graphic, which later issued a rejoinder published on Thursday, July 17, 2025.

The Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) Ghana also released a disclaimer confirming that no clinical trial on COA-72 for HIV treatment had been approved—further validating COARMLC’s position.

“We commend the FDA for their swift response in correcting the public narrative,” the company stated.

COARMLC further clarified that its founder and CEO, Samuel Ato Duncan had shared his long-standing vision of discovering a natural solution to HIV during the committee’s visit.

“On November 30, 2005, Duncan publicly committed to researching a natural cure for HIV. That vision has guided nearly two decades of plant-based pharmaceutical work,” the statement noted.

This research has led to the development of several products—including COA Mixture, COA Plus, COA-MT, and COA Capsules—but none of these, including COA-72, are currently approved for HIV treatment.

The company explained that COA-72 is a new formulation that has shown promising results in pre-clinical and internal studies. While early findings suggest potential antiviral and anticancer properties, COA-72 has not undergone formal, FDA-sanctioned clinical trials.

“At no time did we state that COA-72 is undergoing FDA-approved clinical trials. What we did do was introduce the product as a promising development and appeal for support to begin formal investigations,” the statement emphasized.

COARMLC estimates that if COA-72 proves successful through official trials, it could contribute as much as $76.8 billion annually to Ghana’s economy and create thousands of jobs.

In 2019, COARMLC formally applied to the FDA to initiate clinical trials on COA-72. The application was acknowledged through a letter dated October 29, 2019, referenced as FDA/SMC/CTD/CTA/19/0059.

The letter outlined the requirements for beginning clinical testing. However, the company has not yet fulfilled all conditions necessary for approval.

“Though preliminary studies—both local and international—have yielded encouraging results, such as reduced HIV viral loads and, in some cases, viral clearance, these must not be misconstrued as clinical evidence,” the company stressed.

“They do not replace the need for formal, FDA-approved clinical research.”

COARMLC reaffirmed its commitment to working within regulatory frameworks and with credible global institutions.

“We remain dedicated to working with the FDA, WHO, and accredited research institutions to advance COA-72 responsibly. Public trust and regulatory compliance are not optional—they are non-negotiable,” the company concluded.

COARMLC also expressed regret over any confusion caused by the misreporting and called for greater responsibility in health-related journalism.

COA-RMLC Sets the Record Straight on COA-72 Clinical Trials

The management of COA Research and Manufacturing Limited Company (COA-RMLC) wishes to clarify recent media reports regarding the status of COA-72, following a publication in the Daily Graphic on Wednesday, 16th July 2025, headlined: “COA-72 Undergoes Clinical Trials as Anti-HIV Drug.”

This statement aims to address the misinformation in the said article and reaffirm our unwavering commitment to scientific integrity, regulatory compliance, and transparent communication with the public.

On Monday, 14th July 2025, the Parliamentary Select Committee on Health paid a working visit to our facility. During this engagement, COARMLC management discussed ongoing research and development efforts. Unfortunately, subsequent media reportage inaccurately suggested that COA-72 is currently undergoing clinical trials for HIV treatment.

To address this, COARMLC contacted Daily Graphic, resulting in a rejoinder published on Thursday, 17th July 2025. We appreciate the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA) Ghana for issuing a public disclaimer that affirms no clinical trial involving COA-72 for HIV treatment has been approved, which aligns with our official position.

During the meeting, our Founder and CEO, Mr. Samuel Ato Duncan, shared his personal and professional journey, which continues to fuel our mission:

On November 30, 2005, Duncan publicly committed to pursuing a natural cure for HIV.

This commitment has led to extensive research in plant-based medicine and the development of key products including COA Mixture, COA Plus, COA-MT, and COA Capsules.

These products are not approved for HIV treatment, but the research behind them laid the foundation for the development of COA-72—a new formulation that early studies suggest may have antiviral and anticancer potential.

At no point during the visit did COARMLC claim that COA-72 was undergoing FDA-approved clinical trials. Instead, management took the opportunity to:

Introduce COA-72 as a promising product based on internal and collaborative research.

Emphasize the need for further rigorous scientific studies.

Appeal for support from government and institutions to begin formal clinical trials, which require substantial resources.

COARMLC believes that if validated through clinical trials, COA-72 could contribute approximately $76.8 billion annually to Ghana’s economy and create thousands of jobs.

Regulatory Status Clarified

In 2019, COARMLC submitted a formal application to the FDA requesting approval to begin clinical trials on COA-72.

The FDA acknowledged this application via a letter dated October 29, 2019 (Ref: FDA/SMC/CTD/CTA/19/0059), titled: “Acknowledgement: Application for Anti-HIV/AIDS Clinical on COA-72.”

The letter outlined specific steps required to initiate the trial, including partnerships with accredited research institutions and adherence to international protocols.

As of today, COARMLC has not met all the FDA’s conditions to begin these trials.

Key Clarifications

COARMLC has never claimed that FDA approval has been granted for COA-72 clinical trials.

While pre-clinical and pilot studies have shown promise—including reduced HIV viral loads and, in some cases, complete viral clearance—these do not constitute formal clinical evidence.

The company remains committed to scientific, ethical, and regulatory standards at all stages of product development.

Our Commitment Moving Forward

COARMLC remains dedicated to:

Fulfilling all regulatory requirements as outlined by the FDA, WHO, and other global health bodies.

Collaborating with qualified stakeholders to secure funding and support for formal clinical trials.

Engaging in transparent, respectful communication with the public and global health community.

We regret any confusion the media coverage may have caused and trust that this statement provides clarity on the status of COA-72.

COARMLC remains focused on responsibly advancing plant-based medicine for public health and national development.

Trump’s FBI Deputy Director Is A Podcaster Who Thinks The Election Was Stolen

0

“Folks, the FBI is at it again. I don’t trust these people at all,” the conspiracy theorist once wrote on social media.

President Donald Trump tapped a conservative media personality and conspiracy theorist for a big job in his administration.

Dan Bongino, a former U.S. Secret Service agent who later hosted a Fox News show and pilots a popular right-wing podcast, is deputy director of the FBI despite having no leadership experience at the department. His appointment did not require a Senate confirmation.

Bongino, who unsuccessfully ran for Senate in 2012, is a major promoter of some of Trump’s favorite conspiracy theories about the 2020 election and COVID-19. He’s also a “significant shareholder” in the right-wing video platform Rumble, the company said.

Here are some of the biggest whoppers he’s spread.

He’s a superspreader of 2020 election lies.

Researchers have identified Bongino as one of the most effective spreaders of misinformation around the 2020 election, noting he spent hours of his podcast and posted widely shared videos on social media promoting debunked claims about ballot harvesting and suspicious votes.

“The FBI and the CIA, members of it, unquestionably tried to rig both the 2016 and 2020 election,” he once told his listeners.

Bongino, who has nearly 6 million followers on Facebook, had over 7.7 million interactions on Facebook the week of the 2020 election, The New York Times found at the time.

In May 2024, he warned his listeners that they should still be leery of Democrats “stealing an election” from Trump. “Do not let them fleece this thing again,” he said on an episode of his podcast.

Dan Bongino speaks onstage during Politicon 2018 at the Los Angeles Convention Center on Oct. 20, 2018.

He hinted that DEI policies and corruption were to blame for the assassination attempts against Trump.

Bongino, who claimed the FBI was “irredeemably corrupt” after its agents raided Mar-a-Lago, raised diversity, equity and inclusion policies as a possible culprit behind the Secret Service’s failure to prevent an assassination attempt on Trump last summer.

“They put out a thousand tweets about all this DEI stuff,” he said of the Secret Service. “Do I know that’s related here? I don’t, I’m just saying, like ― you have one job and only one job.”

After another person was apprehended for plotting an assassination attempt on Trump in September, Bongino asked whether there could be a “mole” among the agents assigned to protect Trump or that one of them could be mishandling information about his whereabouts.

“Is there a honeypot trap going on in the Secret Service?” he asked on an episode of his podcast. “Is there a guy or a woman in the Secret Service having a relationship with someone who is not who they say they are?”

In an August episode of his podcast, Bongino questioned the integrity of the FBI’s investigation into the assassination attempts. “Folks, the FBI is at it again. I don’t trust these people at all,” he wrote on social media alongside a clip from his podcast.

Dan Bongino photographed in Stuart, Florida, in 2021.

His FBI conspiracy theories don’t end there.

Bongino has also claimed that footage the FBI released of the Jan. 6, 2021, pipe bomb suspect may have been “manipulated” and that something sinister is afoot.

“Something is going on here. Where is the video of him dropping the bomb? Why don’t we have it? Why does it appear manipulated?” he said in a January 2024 episode.

“Ladies and gentlemen, somebody’s hiding something, and it’s not small. They are hiding something freaking huge,” he continued.

He’s also pushed the theory that President Barack Obama’s administration had at least one FBI agent tasked with spying on the 2016 Trump campaign. While discussing the idea on Tucker Carlson’s Fox News show at the time, Bongino simply cited “reporting.”

He was kicked off YouTube for spreading COVID-19 misinformation.

In 2022, YouTube temporarily suspended Bongino’s account, which had around 900,000 subscribers, for spreading misinformation about the COVID-19 pandemic. Notably, he claimed masks were “useless” at preventing the virus’ spread despite research to the contrary ― something YouTube said violated its misinformation policy.

When Bongino tried to circumnavigate the ban by posting from another account, the video platform banned him permanently.

Shortly after, Google pulled all ads from Bongino’s website. He said one of the pieces of content Google cited was about Anthony Fauci, then the chief medical adviser to President Joe Biden, and said that his “use of masks despite being vaccinated had nothing to do with science.”

Dan Bongino at his Senate campaign headquarters in 2012.

He propped up Russia’s baseless claims about a U.S. attack.

In 2022, Bongino suggested Biden’s administration may have been responsible for the explosions that ruptured a set of natural gas pipelines — Nord Stream 1 and 2 — running between Russia and Germany. The act of sabotage, the Wall Street Journal reports, was carried out by Ukraine, though Russia blamed the U.S.

Bongino backed up the Kremlin’s claims in an episode of his podcast.

“Is the Biden administration crazy enough to do this to light a spark that might cause World War III?” he asked. “The answer is, ‘I wouldn’t be surprised, and I bet neither would you.’”

Daddy Lumba called me after his death- Ajagurajah drops deep secret about Lumba’s death

Prophet Ajagurajah has finally reacted over the death of legendary musician kwadwo Fosu alias Daddy Lumba. The news of Lumba’s death has sent shockwaves throughout the nation, with fans, friends, and fellow artists paying tribute to his memory.

Ajagurajah allegedly stated that he received a call from Daddy Lumba after his passing, only to hear Lumba’s wife crying uncontrollably. He also claimed that Lumba’s death wasn’t due to illness or spiritual attack but human error. https://youtu.be/8pNvY2Yfrws?si=y-2w8sjR6CtK3I2f

It’s worth noting that Prophet Ajagurajah has previously interacted with Daddy Lumba, notably during the musician’s 60th birthday celebration. Ajagurajah made headlines for making money rain on Daddy Lumba during the event, showcasing their connection. Additionally, Ajagurajah has spoken about Daddy Lumba’s spiritual protection in the music industry, suggesting that artists like Lumba have safeguarded themselves against unforeseen circumstances.

It appears that Daddy Lumba is alive, contradicting the premise of Prophet Ajagurajah’s claims about his death. Without further confirmation of Lumba’s passing, it’s challenging to assess the validity of Ajagurajah’s statements. Nevertheless, the prophet’s previous interactions with Daddy Lumba highlight their connection and Ajagurajah’s influence in spiritual and celebrity circles.

Apostle Prof Opoku Onyinah slams ‘100% lies’ about National Cathedral project

Apostle Prof Opoku Onyinah, a former Chairman of the Church of Pentecost and Chairman of the National Cathedral Board of Trustees, has expressed concern over what he describes as “absolute lies” being spread about the National Cathedral project.

In an interactive session with some church leaders, Apostle Onyinah recounted his ministry experiences and the challenges he faced in initiating major church projects, noting that criticism and opposition are not new in the work of God.

He revealed that, just as he faced opposition when establishing the Pentecost International Worship Centre (PIWC) during his tenure as a leader of the Church of Pentecost, similar and even worse falsehoods are now being circulated about the National Cathedral.

“Some of them were very, very disturbing. I mean, especially those that are absolute lies. Some people try to tell complete lies, as they are talking about the Cathedral, and some comments are 100% lies about these things,” he lamented.

Apostle Onyinah stressed that his focus remains on fulfilling what he believes to be God’s will, regardless of opposition or misinformation.

“I said, No, I need to pursue what God wants us to do. So, I look forward to the Lord who has told me and who wants to do something, and I believe that at least the will of God will be done,” he added.

The former Chairman of the Church of Pentecost shared these sentiments while narrating how the idea of PIWC was born out of the need to accommodate young people returning from tertiary institutions who felt disconnected from traditional church services.

According to him, despite early criticism, the PIWC has grown into a significant arm of the church, showing that challenges are a natural part of executing divine assignments.

Meanwhile, following a scathing audit report, President John Dramani Mahama has ordered the dissolution of the National Cathedral Secretariat and initiated legal processes to disband its Board of Trustees.

The directives were announced by Minister of State in charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, who stated that the Secretariat was dissolved as of May 1, 2025.

The action follows a Deloitte and Touche audit of the National Cathedral Secretariat’s operations from 2021 to 2023, which uncovered a litany of financial irregularities, procurement breaches, and a “general lack of due process.”

The minister said the findings “rock the very foundation of the project and the work of the Secretariat and raise serious questions about the use of public funds.”

Beyond the immediate dissolutions, the government is taking further steps to address the pervasive issues. The full Deloitte and Touche audit report will be published to ensure transparency, the minister stated.

The Auditor-General has been requested to commission a comprehensive forensic audit into the operations.

The Attorney General and Minister of Justice is tasked with taking legal steps to lawfully terminate the contract for the National Cathedral project, a measure aimed at “preventing further costs and losses to the state.”

The minister affirmed that “decisive action will be taken regarding any impropriety determined and the future of the project itself” once the forensic audit is complete.

Your Thorne Is Made of Cardboard – Agya Koo Tells Lilwin For Claiming He Is King of Ghana Movies

0

In a surprising twist in the world of Ghanaian cinema, according to a report by Ghbase News, veteran actor Agya Koo has taken aim at fellow actor Lilwin following the latter’s bold proclamation of himself as the “King of Ghana Movies” and the “President of African Movies.”

This declaration, made on social media, has sparked a lively debate among fans and industry insiders alike, but Agya Koo’s response has stolen the spotlight, hinting at a brewing rivalry that could reshape the landscape of Ghanaian film.

Agya Koo, a prominent figure in the industry known for his impactful performances and contributions over the years, did not hold back in his critique. With a cryptic yet pointed post, he remarked, “Wow, the king of the movie industry paa? Must be a throne made of cardboard.

True greatness is shown through deeds, not just claims. Indeed, empty vessels make the most noise.” His words, dripping with sarcasm, resonate with many who believe that accolades should be earned through tangible accomplishments rather than self-appointed titles.

The exchange has ignited a firestorm of reactions across social media platforms, with fans passionately weighing in on the ongoing debate. Some supporters of Agya Koo argue that his extensive body of work and dedication to the craft make him a more legitimate contender for the title of king.

On the other hand, Lilwin has cultivated a significant following, particularly among younger audiences, and his claim has garnered attention, perhaps reflecting a generational shift in the industry.

Adding fuel to the fire, Agya Koo teased his audience with a hint of a comeback, stating, “I haven’t started anything yet oo… I need to come back like I never left.

I was just warming up.” This cryptic message has left fans buzzing with anticipation. Could Agya Koo be planning to return to the screen in a big way, reigniting his career and possibly challenging Lilwin’s newfound status?

As the tension builds, the question arises: what does it mean to be the “king” in the Ghanaian film industry? Is it about box office success, critical acclaim, or the ability to connect with audiences?

The ongoing rivalry between Agya Koo and Lilwin may reflect deeper questions about legacy, influence, and the future of Ghanaian cinema.

Industry insiders are watching closely as this drama unfolds. With both actors having considerable fan bases, their rivalry could potentially lead to a significant shift in viewer preferences and industry dynamics.

Collaborations or confrontations could emerge, each actor vying to prove their dominance in a field that has seen its share of ups and downs.

As the movie kingship battle heats up, fans can only speculate what lies ahead. Will Agya Koo make a triumphant return to the screen, or will Lilwin solidify his claim to the throne through new projects and performances?

One thing is certain: the Ghanaian film industry is in for an exciting chapter, and audiences are eager to see how this rivalry will unfold. The stage is set; let the games begin!

Mahama’s Emotional Final Republic Day: Daddy Lumba Serenades Seniors at Jubilee House

News Hub Creator9h

In a heartfelt tribute to Ghana’s senior citizens, former President John Dramani Mahama marked his final Republic Day in office with an emotional celebration at the Jubilee House on July 1st. The occasion, steeped in national pride and reflective grace, brought together some of Ghana’s most revered elders, cultural icons, and former statesmen — all in honor of the generations who laid the foundation of the nation’s republic.

The evening was made even more memorable by a moving performance from highlife legend Daddy Lumba, whose music stirred nostalgia and joy among the audience. His presence added a deeply personal and cultural layer to the event, underlining the connection between music, memory, and national identity.

President Mahama, delivering a short but poignant address, paid tribute to the role of senior citizens in Ghana’s development. “We owe much of our national identity and stability to the wisdom and resilience of our senior citizens,” he said, receiving warm applause. He emphasized the responsibility of the current generation to preserve Ghana’s legacy and ensure that future generations understand and honor the sacrifices made by those who came before.

The highlight of the night came when Daddy Lumba stepped onto the stage, delivering renditions of classics like Theresa and Aben Wo Ha. As he sang, many in the crowd were visibly moved — some smiling through tears, others clapping and singing along, lost in memories.

“It wasn’t just a performance,” one guest commented. “It was a tribute to a whole generation — and a fitting farewell to a president who has always valued tradition and culture.

IGP visits Asawase after killings – Orders thorough search of vehicles

0

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has ordered security personnel deployed to various checkpoints within Asawase to thoroughly search vehicles including tricycles to foil any intended attacks in the area.

With the Regional Security Council’s (REGSEC’s) ban on motorbikes after 7 p.m. following the killing of two people on separate occasions last week, he said violent elements might resort to the use of tricycles and other vehicles to carry out their criminal activities.

“If they realise that one strategy is not working, especially after the ban on the use of motorbikes, they will resort to tricycles and other vehicles to outsmart security personnel to undertake their nefarious acts,” he said.

Fact-finding visit

Mr Yohuno made the remarks when he led some members of the Police Management Board (POMAG) on a fact-finding visit to Asawase in the Ashanti Region last Saturday, following the recent killings.

The team visited the two scenes where the people were killed and the various checkpoints set up within the area after the killings to engage with officers and community members.

The visit was also to assure the people of their continuous safety despite the killing incidents.

Naa Abdul-Malik Azenbe, the Kusasi Chief in the Ashanti Region, was shot dead at the Kumasi suburb by unknown assailants who reportedly attacked him on the night of Tuesday, July 22, 2025.

Until his death, the chief also served as the Kaadi Divisional Area Chief in the Binduri District of the Upper East Region.

According to some eyewitnesses, the unidentified gunmen, each on a motorbike, approached the chief and shot him at close range before fleeing the scene.

Last Friday, another man was shot dead in broad daylight at Sabon Zongo, also in Asawase, marking the second fatal shooting in the area within a week by unknown assailants riding motorbikes.

The assailants shot the yet-to-be-identified man just as he was about to enter his vehicle, near OTEC FM in Sabon Zongo, close to the Manhyia roundabout.

No arrests have been made so far.

No stone unturned

The IGP urged the officers to leave no stone unturned, and instructed them to thoroughly search motorbikes to prevent the transfer of weapons within the area.

“You can realise that one of the killings occurred during the night after 8 p.m., and the other in broad daylight. This shows you that anything can happen at any time, and, therefore, you must be vigilant at all times,” Mr Yohuno told the officers.

He urged the personnel to maintain a high level of agility at all times to prevent any attack on unsuspecting members of the public, emphasising that there must be zero tolerance for the use of weapons against the personnel.

While commending the officers on the grounds for their efforts, Mr Yohuno assured the residents that the police administration was committed to ensuring that Asawase and Kumasi remained safe so that people could go about their activities without fear.

“We will not allow criminal elements to destabilise the peace in the region as such a situation tends to scare people away, especially investors, from coming into the region to do business,” he said.

REGSEC’s ban

The Ashanti REGSEC banned motorbikes after 7:00 p.m. and suspended an inter-tribal football competition following the incidents.

At its emergency meeting held on Wednesday, July 24, 2025, the REGSEC banned the riding of unlicensed motorbikes or those without functioning lights.

Additionally, REGSEC has deployed joint police and military patrols to hotspots to ensure peace and safeguard lives and property.

“The REGSEC assures the general public of the government’s unwavering commitment to maintaining law and order and fostering a peaceful society.

All necessary measures are being implemented to bring the perpetrators of this heinous acts to justice,” the statements signed by the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, said.

LynneX Ventures (LXV), a dynamic force in global arts, culture, entertainment, wellness, and community development, is making significant strides in promoting sustainable initiatives across continents.

Under the visionary leadership of its Founder and CEO, Miss Cynthia Raymond, the organization has combined entertainment and advocacy to effect real change—particularly for children in underserved communities.

In a remarkable fusion of music and mission, LXV has partnered with celebrated Jamaican reggae artiste Hezron Clarke also known by his African name as Kwame Bonsu, embarking on a series of impactful projects and international tours aimed at cultural exchange, unity, and humanitarian support.

A Reggae Journey to Africa.

In 2023, LynneX Ventures proudly facilitated Hezron Clarke’s inaugural visit to Africa, specifically Ghana, marking a poignant return to his ancestral roots. The fully financed tour by Cynthia Raymond was not just a musical milestone, it was a powerful reconnection to heritage.

During the tour, Hezron met with some of the most respected and revered figures in Ghana, including His Royal Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, the King of the Ashanti Kingdom, and Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, Ghana’s National Chief Imam. These historic encounters symbolized the bridging of cultures and the shared values of peace, unity, and heritage.

West Africa Tour: “Man on a Mission”

In 2024, LXV expanded its vision, sponsoring Hezron Clarke’s largest African music tour yet, dubbed the “Man on a Mission West African Tour.” The journey took the reggae icon through Ghana, Togo, Benin, Nigeria, and Côte d’Ivoire, drawing diverse audiences and promoting African unity through music.

But the tour was more than a concert series it was a platform for outreach. Cynthia Raymond and Hezron visited an orphanage in Cape Coast, in Ghana’s Central Region, where they donated essential food items, beverages, and funds to support the children. This heartfelt act marked the genesis of Cynthia Raymond’s passion project: The “Save the Children” Campaign.

Award recognition: Presidential Lifetime Achievement awards.

Miss Cynthia Raymond was awarded the prestigious Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award by the White House, recognizing her exceptional commitment and over 500 hours of impactful volunteer service.

Presented under the auspices of AmeriCorps and the President’s Council on Service and Civic Participation, the award honors individuals whose dedication to community service fosters both national and international goodwill.

In October 2024, during the 3G Media Awards Night in Bronx, New York, by certifying agency Mac/Ban Arts. Miss Raymond received a signed formal congratulatory letter and an honorary pin from President Joseph R. Biden, symbolizing her outstanding contributions.

Miss Raymond was recognized for her unwavering self-dedication, tireless work ethic, and deep compassion for children. Her service has touched countless lives and continues to inspire meaningful change in communities both locally and globally.

The Birth of a Global Campaign: “Save the Children”

Inspired by Hezron’s deeply moving song “Save the Children,” the campaign seeks to secure a brighter future for vulnerable children worldwide. The song’s message resonated so profoundly with Cynthia that she adopted its title and spirit to lead her global philanthropic drive.

“The aim is to give every child regardless of circumstance a chance at life, joy, and opportunity,” said Cynthia. “We’re using music not just to entertain but to educate and uplift.”

Canada Tour: Music Meets Mission.

In 2025, LXV continued its unwavering support, backing Hezron’s ongoing journey—this time to North America for the “Man on a Mission Canada Tour.” The highlight came during the Vancouver Reggae Soundsplash, where Cynthia Raymond personally attended.

At the event, Hezron’s emotional performance of “Save the Children” brought tears to many including Cynthia, when he was joined on stage by children, including a young girl with a disability. The powerful moment, captured in the smiles of the children and the love shared by the audience, became a defining image of the campaign.

A Call to Action: Join the Mission.

Motivated by the joy on the little girl’s face, Cynthia made a heartfelt vow:

“I’m going to make sure every child is as happy as this little girl,” she whispered to herself through tears.

Today, LynneX Ventures is calling on individuals, institutions, corporate bodies, nonprofits, and philanthropists across the world to join the “Save the Children” campaign.

The initiative aims to reach more children with food, education, health care, and emotional support—empowering them with the hope and happiness they deserve.

“Our mission is to elevate individuals and communities to achieve their full potential, ensuring each voice is heard and talents recognized on a global stage. Through LXV, we commit to bridging gaps, nurturing environments, promoting a healthier and a more inclusive world.”
