Ghana’s Cedi Becomes World’s Top Currency in 2025

0

Ghana’s cedi has emerged as the world’s strongest-performing currency in 2025, appreciating nearly 50% against the US dollar since the start of the year. Beginning the year at around ₵15 to the dollar, the cedi has climbed steadily to trade just above the ₵10 mark, bolstered by improved investor sentiment and a wave of positive economic developments.

The rally has been underpinned by Ghana’s ongoing recovery from its recent debt default and economic turmoil. Investors have responded positively to the country’s strengthening fundamentals, particularly its performance in gold and oil exports, and its ongoing support from the International Monetary Fund (IMF). On Monday, the cedi opened at GH₵10.21, reflecting a 7% rise from the previous Friday’s close of GH₵10.25.

According to Bloomberg data, no other currency has matched the cedi’s gains this year. The turnaround is striking, considering that in 2022, the cedi was the world’s worst-performing currency, having lost over 55% of its value during a severe inflation crisis and sovereign debt troubles.

Falling inflation has played a critical role in stabilising the cedi, with the rate easing to 21.2% in April. The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has pursued a firm monetary policy stance to support the currency, including a surprise 100-basis point rate hike in March, raising the policy rate to 28%. These moves have been aimed at curbing inflation and attracting foreign investment.

In parallel, the central bank transitioned to spot-market forex auctions, moving away from speculative controls. This shift has enhanced dollar liquidity and curbed dollar hoarding, which had previously disrupted the foreign exchange market.

Ghana’s Cedi Becomes World’s Top Currency in 2025, Economic Revival

Ghana’s export earnings have been buoyed by record-high gold prices, which surged from $2,000 per ounce in 2024 to $3,400 in May 2025. The country, now the sixth-largest gold producer globally, saw gold export revenue rise from $7.6 billion in 2023 to $11.6 billion in 2024. The Gold Board’s policy requiring domestic gold purchases to be settled in cedis prior to export also played a vital role, boosting Ghana’s gold reserves from 9 tonnes in late 2023 to 31 tonnes today. Consequently, foreign reserves hit a record $11.4 billion in March 2025.

Oil and non-traditional exports have further supported Ghana’s external position, pushing its trade surplus to a long-term high of $4.3 billion in 2024.

The IMF’s $3 billion bailout, part of a three-year programme, has provided essential financial and technical support, focusing on restoring macroeconomic stability through demand-management reforms. Fiscal consolidation measures, such as suspending ₵65 billion in arrears payments and slashing Treasury bill yields from 28% to 15%, have helped ease debt concerns and re-energised investor confidence.

President Mahama’s administration has been credited with introducing sweeping reforms that have maintained political stability, another key factor in the cedi’s recent resurgence.

Despite the optimism, policymakers remain cautious. Bank of Ghana Governor Johnson Asiama has warned against complacency, stating, “Stability doesn’t mean fixation,” and highlighting the need to balance currency strength with export competitiveness. Economists have also noted that while the recovery is impressive, the BoG may delay monetary easing due to rising utility prices and lingering inflationary risks. With inflation still above the central bank’s 6–10% target band, premature rate cuts could threaten recent gains and expose the cedi to renewed volatility.

Cedi likely to stabilise between GHS11 or GHS12 by end of year

0

The Head of Finance at UMB Capital, Nelson Cudjoe Kuagbedzi, has projected that the Ghanaian Cedi will stabilise within the range of GHS11 to GHS12 against the U.S. dollar by the end of 2025, contrary to projections by Fitch and other analysts forecasting a return to GHS15.

The Cedi, between January and late May 2025, appreciated from approximately GHS 15.00 to GHS 10.20 per USD, reflecting a cumulative gain of about 32%.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Monday, June 2, 2025, Kuagbedzi said while the local currency has shown strong appreciation in recent months, it is not expected to continue strengthening indefinitely.

Expanding on his point, Cudjoe Kuagbedzi explained that the government has yet to undertake any major spending, which has helped ease pressure on the Cedi.

He added that unless large-scale expenditures resume, the Cedi is expected to stabilise within the GHS11 to GHS12 range.

“We don’t expect the Cedi to appreciate throughout the year; at a point, it will stagnate, and actually settle within a band. I do not agree with the projection by Fitch and others, saying that the Cedi will stagnate at Ghc15 by the end of the year.

“Within the short term, you will realise that the government is trying to build enough reserves to meet the demand of those who need the forex.

“Again, the government has not started paying out its payables, because those payables are still under audit. Even though we have not started servicing debts yet, since they came to power. So, we expect that once those expenditures set in, the currency will begin to shake again.

“We don’t expect it to go beyond Gh12 by the end of the year. I expect the Cedi to stabilise with the band of Ghc11 or Ghc12 by the close of the year.

“Currently, the government is embarking on a contractionary Economic Policy. They are not spending on or starting any mega project. So, there is enough reserve with the Bank of Ghana. As soon as they start spending, you will see that the Cedi will begin to shake. But it will stagnate within the band of Ghc11 by the end of the year,” he stated.

“Have You Heard Adutwum Squander Money?” — Prophet Kofi Oduro Challenges Political Blind Loyalty

0

Renowned preacher, Prophet Kofi Oduro, has called on political party loyalists in Ghana to abandon their “blind loyalty” and allow state institutions to function without interference, especially when dealing with individuals accused of corruption as reported by MyNewsGH.

Speaking during a recent sermon, Prophet Oduro addressed the growing trend of party supporters rallying behind political figures facing legal challenges.

His comments come in the wake of protests by members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the offices of the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) following the arrest of party stalwart Chairman Wontumi.

He cautioned against shielding corrupt officials under the guise of party loyalty, insisting that the law must take its full course when individuals are found culpable. “If there is a bad nut, let the law deal with them,” he stressed.

Using Education Minister Dr. Osei Yaw Adutwum as an example, Prophet Oduro praised leaders who have maintained integrity in office.

“Osei Yaw Adutwum… built STEM schools, but have you heard that he squandered money?” he questioned, contrasting that with others accused of financial crimes and lavish spending.

He criticized the tendency of some political figures to misuse public funds and then mobilize party supporters when held accountable. “They call on people to fight for them… No, the truth will liberate you,” he said.

Prophet Oduro’s message emphasized the need for accountability in governance and urged Ghanaians to support justice, not individuals, regardless of political affiliation.

The inconvenient truth: Corporate financing versus investment financing

0

In an era when headlines often overshadow genuine truths, discussions about Africa’s development are frequently derailed by complex jargon and the misapplication of financial models.

A crucial distinction in this dialogue lies between corporate financing and investment financing, which includes strategic equity positions.

While both are components of the financial ecosystem, they fulfil distinct roles. Blurring the lines between them represents a technical mistake that could affect an entire generation.

This issue extends beyond economics; it touches on sovereignty, legacy, and impact.

Different instruments. different outcomes

Corporate financing is typically transactional in nature. It provides short to medium-term financial lifelines, manages cash flows, facilitates payroll, issues credit lines, and supports working capital. While essential for operational continuity, it is not intended to fund generational transformation.

Investment financing, however, is a strategic endeavour.

It mobilises long-term capital, structures infrastructure deals, underwrites development bonds, syndicates complex financing instruments and enables public-private partnerships.

If corporate financing keeps the system functioning, investment financing determines what that system will become in 30 years.

LatexFoamPromo

The structural mismatch that hurts progress

Across the continent, however, corporate financing tools are frequently used to fund investment financing ambitions.

Countries borrow short and plan long.

They take out commercial loans with high-interest terms for projects that require patient capital.

The result is a dangerous mismatch akin to building a national hospital with a credit card and then wondering why the recovery room is in debt.

In Ghana, over 40% of the government’s revenue in 2023 was allocated to servicing debt, a significant portion of which was tied to short-term, commercial-style borrowing.

In Kenya, the Standard Gauge Railway was hailed as a symbol of progress.

Yet by 2022, Kenya was spending over KSh60 billion annually on repayments to the China EXIM Bank, while the railway’s revenue consistently fell below break-even.

The vision wasn’t flawed.

The financing was. In Mozambique, the infamous 2016 “tuna bond” scandal involved over $2 billion in hidden loans marketed as sovereign guarantees.

The fallout triggered a national debt crisis, led to the suspension of donor support, and pushed more than 1.5 million people deeper into poverty. It wasn’t just a financial scandal. It was a governance failure.

Short-term borrowing, long-term consequences

During the oil boom, Angola borrowed heavily against future oil revenues.

When prices collapsed in 2015, the economy buckled. Hospitals lacked basic supplies, and infrastructure projects were suspended.

A fiscal healing process prioritised repayment over resilience. South Africa’s Eskom has over R400 billion in debt from short-term loans for long-term infrastructure.

Lacking a capital strategy, its debt exceeded capacity, leading to blackouts, investor disillusionment, and bailout requests.

In contrast, Botswana’s Pula Fund invests diamond revenues for long-term returns, while diaspora bonds and domestic efforts fund Ethiopia’s Grand Renaissance Dam.

These examples show that national transformation needs more than vision; it requires sustainable financing.

Pension and sovereign funds: stewards of intergenerational dignity

Africa’s national pension and sovereign wealth funds were designed not just for capital management, but as intergenerational agreements.

Pension fund institutions, such as Ghana’s SSNIT, Nigeria’s PENCOM and South Africa’s GEPF, aim to offer stability, dignity, and security to those who supported their countries during crucial times. However, when analysed through the lens of political convenience, their true intent often diminishes.

What should serve as a foundation for national stability risks being reduced to tools for short-term financial relief.
Such misinterpretations are not simple mistakes; they signify a gradual decay of public trust and the honour of generational continuity.

Sovereign funds across the continent reflect this same tension. Increasingly, their national assets under management (AUM) are managed with a corporate financing mentality: preserving liquidity, minimising risk and deferring vision.

Managing short-term obligations is understandable, but it’s essential to remember the broader mandate: these funds aim to grow wealth with foresight and purpose.

Treating generational capital transactionally may bring temporary balance, but risks diminishing the intended generational impact of these institutions.

Learning from global models

Singapore’s Temasek Holdings, established in 1974, manages over $400 billion in long-term investments, driving innovation, education and infrastructure.

Canada’s CPPIB manages over $570 billion, guided by legislation and long-term strategy, not by the ballot box.

Norway’s Pension Fund converts oil revenues into future security through transparency, diversification and disciplined governance.

South Korea’s KIC oversees the country’s foreign reserves with a globally diversified investment portfolio to depoliticise national wealth and align it with national goals.

The UAE’s ADIA, managing over $850 billion, uses its fund not just to preserve oil wealth but to finance a post-oil future, investing in tourism, clean energy and logistics.

These examples show that institutional capital, guided by purpose and vision, can transform nations.

It’s not about how much a country has but how wisely that money is structured, protected and deployed.

From political slogans to financial blueprints

African leaders need to shift from applause-driven announcements to implementing generational financing, reducing reliance on donors, and prioritising long-term investments over electoral budget concerns.

Investment finance enables risk sharing, encourages strategic partnerships, and offers access to patient capital, creating enduring connections that last for the next 50 years, rather than just 4-5 years.

The Lagos-Calabar highway illustrates this: while ambitious, the financing model is unclear.

Africa has seen many grand visions fail due to poorly structured financing. Thoughtfully planned investment finance can help avoid these costly errors.

The human cost of mismanagement

Mismanagement of sovereign and pension funds affects individuals: the retired teacher awaiting a pension, the nurse who cannot afford medication, and the child in a nation prioritising short-term applause over long-term prosperity.

A flawed financial model and poor governance lead to budgetary constraints, thereby undermining long-term economic stability.

A continental clarion call

Africa must now institutionalise capital wisdom.

This is the century for building sovereign wealth institutions and investment authorities that are independent, competent and accountable. Let us:

• Embed investment logic into public sector leadership training.
• Include capital structuring in economic policy discourse.
• Elevate local professionals into strategic roles in national finance.
• Prioritise transparency, governance and citizen accountability.

Final reflection

The inconvenient truth is this: Sovereign and pension funds must be more than mere money set aside.

They must represent patient capital with a conscience, deployed wisely, shielded from election cycles, and guided by the long arc of nation-building.

Managing generational capital with a transactional/corporate finance mindset may balance the books, but it ultimately bankrupts the future.

Now, more than ever, as Africa shapes its path in a rapidly changing global economy, there is an opportunity to reaffirm the original investment intent of these funds.

With the proper balance of governance, professionalism, the hiring of the right personnel and board members, and a long-term vision, these funds can be pillars of resilience and instruments of transformation for future generations.

‘What happened was shameful and dangerous’ – Dr. Kwame Kyei addresses Holy Stars incident

0

Owner of Nations FC and Board Chairman of Asante Kotoko SC, Dr. Kwame Kyei, has delivered a scathing critique of the state of football in Ghana following violent and controversial scenes during Nations FC’s Ghana Premier League clash with Basake Holy Stars over the weekend.

Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM’s Ultimate Sports Show, the prominent businessman and football administrator expressed deep regret over his involvement in the sport, revealing he felt betrayed by what transpired during the at the Ampain AAK II Sports Arena.

“I regret getting involved in football,” Dr. Kyei said. “What happened on Sunday was shameful, dangerous, and a complete betrayal of the principles of fair play. This is not the football I signed up for.”

Nations FC walked off the pitch in protest after two penalties were awarded to the home side, Basake Holy Stars, in what the visitors described as a blatant case of biased officiating and inadequate security.

The situation quickly escalated into violence, with Dr. Kyei and Nations FC President Divine Kyei Boadu reportedly assaulted by home supporters amid the chaos.

“We were not protected,” he lamented. “How can a club president and a board chairman be attacked in front of everyone and nothing is done? The GFA must sit up.”

He also disclosed that pre-match security assurances were not honored, saying, “We agreed there would be adequate police presence. That never happened. We were left vulnerable.”

The controversial match could have significant implications for Nations FC, who are currently in the thick of the Premier League title race. Their opponents, Basake Holy Stars, are battling relegation, making the encounter a high-stakes affair.

With the match ending in turmoil and Nations FC refusing to complete the game, the outcome of the fixture—and potentially the title race—is in limbo.

“If this is how matches will be handled in a professional league, then we are not serious as a footballing nation,” Dr. Kyei stated.

The Ghana Football Association is now under intense pressure to investigate and act decisively.

Fake Doctor Saga: Sansa Daly has never served as President Mahama’s physician

L-R: Anne Sansa Daly, President John Dramani Mahama and Felix Kwakye Ofosu L-R: Anne Sansa Daly, President John Dramani Mahama and Felix Kwakye Ofosu

The Minister of State in Charge of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu, has refuted claims purportedly made by Anne Sansa Daly, whose appointment was revoked following public concerns about her medical credentials that she served as a physician to President John Dramani Mahama.

Addressing the claim that sparked public concern after the resurfacing of a purported Facebook post allegedly made by Anne Sansa Daly, Kwakye Ofosu stated that Sansa has never served as the President’s physician.

He clarified that she has never had any personal encounter with the President and emphasised that the President’s official physician is a highly qualified professional who has worked with him for years, even before he assumed the presidency.

“It is not true. I have known President Mahama’s physician, who has worked with him for several years. He is a prominent, highly qualified medical doctor. This lady [Sansa Daly] has never been close to the president before, and her claims are not true. I can tell you on authority that she has never been the president’s physician. Some people have flagged the post as fake,” the minister clarified in an interview with Oyerepa TV on June 1, 2025.

Kwakye Ofosu, who also serves as the Member of Parliament for Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese, further addressed the revocation of Anne Sansa Daly’s appointment as a board member of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), stating that her nomination was withdrawn and, as a result, she was not sworn in by the Minister of Health.

“The lady did not even attend the inauguration because at that time, her nomination had been withdrawn. The documents showed that her she wasn’t even having her appointment, and that goes to prove that the government took action even before the issue came out,” he continued.

Kwakye Ofosu reaffirmed the ruling government’s commitment to inclusivity, stating that they are willing to listen and respond to issues that may not yet have come to the government’s attention.

“As a government, we are ready to listen and act if people draw our attention to issues happening, we may not be aware of. It is a better way to serve people than to not act when you are being alerted on issues going wrong,” he added.

His remarks follow a viral post purportedly from Anne Sansa Daly and dated December 10, 2024, in which she congratulates President Mahama on his election and expresses gratitude for having served as his personal physician.

Although the authenticity of the post cannot be verified given that Anne Sansa Daly’s official Facebook page has been deactivated since the controversy over her credentials, Kwakye Ofosu suggested that the post may have been doctored by political opponents to create disaffection toward the government.

Six Bulk Oil Distribution Companies receive $20m from the Bank of Ghana Six Bulk Oil Distribution Companies receive $20m from the Bank of Ghana

Six Bulk Oil Distribution Companies (BDCs) have received a total of $20 million from the Bank of Ghana (BoG) in its latest round of foreign exchange forward auction, held on Wednesday, May 28, 2025.

The funds were allocated at a locked exchange rate of GH¢10.33 to the US dollar with bids submitted in the range of GH¢9 to GH¢10.

This auction forms part of the BoG’s ongoing efforts to bolster forex liquidity for the downstream petroleum sector, particularly in the face of continued volatility in global energy markets.

By directly allocating foreign exchange to BDCs, the BoG seeks to reduce pressure on the interbank FX market, ensure consistent fuel supply and cushion domestic fuel prices against external economic shocks.

The disbursement marks the latest installment under a $120 million second-quarter programme, launched in April 2025, which provides $20 million every two weeks to eligible BDCs to facilitate fuel imports.

According to the central bank, the initiative underscores its commitment to price stability and targeted liquidity support for key sectors of the economy.

Sharing her thoughts on Instagram, the actress posted a video of a woman wearing a revealing outfit at Ruby Ojiakor’s wedding. Alongside the clip, she wrote, “White weddings are meant to represent purity and decency, but these days, people show up looking almost naked.”

In her caption, Rita expressed concern about the effect this trend might have on younger people. She questioned what children would think when they see such images on social media, adding that it would almost be better for people to walk out of their homes completely undressed at least that way, their intentions would be clear.

“‘Ghanaians Will Show Him the Red Card’ – MP’s Chilling Warning to Mahama Over Anti-LGBT plus Bill

News Hub Creator2h

The Member of Parliament for Assin South, Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, has warned that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) could face a crushing defeat in the 2028 general elections if President John Dramani Mahama fails to sign the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill popularly known as the Anti-LGBT+ bill should he return to power as reported by Ghana Web

Speaking in a recent interview with Kafui Dey, Rev. Fordjour, who is also a co-sponsor of the bill, stressed that the legislation has become a critical issue among the Ghanaian electorate.

He cautioned that any president who fails to take a firm stance on the matter risks losing public trust, even if they are not seeking re-election.

“This bill speaks to the conscience of the Ghanaian people,” he said, adding that political parties cannot afford to ignore public sentiment surrounding the issue.

According to Rev. Fordjour, Mahama’s previous public opposition to LGBTQ+ practices has set expectations among supporters.

A reversal or failure to act on the bill, he warned, could be interpreted as betrayal. “If he doesn’t sign it, it will be the Ghanaian people who show him the red card,” he emphasized.

Meanwhile, Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin has confirmed that the bill will be reintroduced for its first reading in the current parliamentary session.

The bill seeks to outlaw LGBTQ+ activities and the promotion or funding of such causes in Ghana.

Driven by vision: Inside Ghana’s first world-class automobile museum

0

Nestled in the heart of the capital lies a stunning new landmark set to redefine how Ghanaians experience innovation and luxury. The Despite Automobile Museum, commissioned by His Majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II on June 1, 2025, is a celebration of possibility, an ode to engineering, and a moving tribute to Ghanaian ambition.

Conceived by celebrated Ghanaian entrepreneur Dr. Osei Kwame Despite, the museum opens the doors to a private collection decades in the making. From vintage masterpieces to sleek, modern marvels, this extraordinary showcase is the first time Dr. Despite’s lifelong passion for automobiles is being shared with the public—and it’s nothing short of breathtaking.

A museum with a mission

With the tagline “More Than a Museum. A Mission in Motion,” the Despite Auto Museum was built to do more than display shiny metal. Its mission? To inspire.

“This is not just a place to see cars,” the museum’s curators emphasize. “It’s a space to feel inspired, to spark imagination and to show that world-class experiences belong here in Ghana, too.”

Each exhibit is carefully positioned to take visitors on a journey through time—from the elegance of early 20th-century motorcars to the jaw-dropping speed and precision of today’s supercars. But beyond the aesthetics and adrenaline, the museum presents a story—of dreams turned reality.

What sets it apart

In a region where few have ventured to blend auto culture with heritage tourism, the Despite Automobile Museum stands out for three key reasons:

  • A Private Collection, Now Public: For the first time, car enthusiasts and the curious alike can view rare and historically significant vehicles, many of which have never been seen up close in Ghana.
  • Rooted in Ghana, Respected Worldwide: Built entirely in Ghana, this is a space designed by and for Ghanaians—yet curated to impress global visitors. It proves that Ghana can deliver an experience on par with the finest auto museums across Europe, Asia, or America.
  • Beyond Cars: The museum blends design, engineering, and storytelling. Each car is not just a machine—it’s part of a larger narrative about speed, style, ambition, and identity.

More than a passion—A legacy

Dr. Osei Kwame Despite’s childhood fascination with cars began with admiration, but over the decades, it evolved into a mission. The museum is his gift to the nation—a space for families, students, car lovers, and tourists to learn, dream, and be inspired.

From glossy European classics to muscular American icons, and even concept cars that seem to defy gravity, the Despite Automobile Museum offers something for everyone. Whether you’re a gearhead or a casual observer, a student or a seasoned collector, stepping inside is like entering a new dimension—one where history, innovation, and elegance intersect.

Visit and be inspired

Located in Accra, the museum is preparing to open its doors to the public. Those eager to be among the first can join the VIP list for exclusive updates, early access, and behind-the-scenes previews.

In a time when Ghana continues to assert itself on the world stage in music, fashion, art, and technology, the Despite Automobile Museum is yet another symbol of the country’s creative pulse and unstoppable drive.

So come take a walk through time—through chrome, curves, and roaring engines. The road to the future has a new starting point, and it begins right here in Ghana.

WHO sounds alarm on the deadly allure of flavored tobacco for youth

0

The WHO warned that such products would lead youth into a cycle of addiction The WHO warned that such products would lead youth into a cycle of addiction

In a shocking report released on May 30, 2025, the World Health Organization (WHO) highlighted the alarming rise in youth tobacco addiction, attributing much of this crisis to flavored tobacco and nicotine products.

A global health crisis disguised in sweet flavors

In a report by insightghana.com.gh, the WHO warned that these flavored items are luring millions of young people into a lifetime of addiction, with potentially deadly consequences.

Marking World No Tobacco Day, the organisation appealed to governments worldwide to take immediate action to ban flavors that mask the dangers associated with tobacco products.

WHO’s investigation revealed that flavored tobacco products, often marketed as “sweet” or “fruity,” are strategically designed to appeal specifically to youth, making it more likely for them to start smoking and subsequently become addicted.

According to the WHO, flavors such as menthol, bubble gum, and cotton candy are not harmless; they are deliberate tools used to attract young users and trap them in a cycle of addiction and disease.

These products are aggressively marketed in appealing packaging, making them particularly tempting for teenagers and young adults.

“Flavors are fuelling a new wave of addiction and should be banned. They undermine decades of progress in tobacco control,” stated WHO Director-General Dr. Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus.

A gateway to lifelong health risks

The WHO report emphasises the alarming rise in youth tobacco use, particularly in areas where flavored products are heavily marketed.

The consequences of this are dire: tobacco use claims over 8 million lives annually, with youth addiction exacerbating the epidemic.

The WHO highlighted that flavored tobacco and nicotine products not only encourage youth initiation but also make it more difficult to quit once an addiction is established.

These sweetened products are linked to severe health issues, including fatal lung diseases and chronic respiratory conditions.

Even traditional cigarettes, responsible for killing half of their long-term users, are now sold with flavor enhancements or come with accessories that allow for flavor additions.

Youth-friendly flavors hide a deadly truth

The WHO urges governments globally to take swift action by banning flavored tobacco products and enforcing stricter regulations to protect future generations from the deadly grip of tobacco addiction.

The organisation’s call to action is grounded in the mounting evidence that flavored products are often the first point of contact for young users.

The attractive aroma and taste of these products distract from their toxic ingredients, giving youth a false sense of safety.

This deceptive nature poses one of the most significant barriers to global tobacco control efforts.

WHO’s call to action: Protect the next generation

To safeguard children and future generations, the WHO is urging nations to implement strict bans on all forms of flavored tobacco and nicotine products—including nicotine pouches, cigarettes, hookahs, and e-cigarettes.

The organisation believes that only through bold policy actions can we avoid a looming public health crisis and curb the rising tide of youth addiction.

As countries review their tobacco control strategies, the WHO’s warning serves as a reminder that flavors are more than just a marketing tactic; they represent a serious danger to global health.

Will governments heed this warning, or will flavored tobacco continue to claim young lives?

The fate of millions hangs in the balance.

GCAA and GACL extend operational hours at Prempeh I and Tamale International Airports

Tamale International Airport (TIA) has been granted extension of operational hours Tamale International Airport (TIA) has been granted extension of operational hours

The Ghana Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) and the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) have announced the extension of operational hours at both Prempeh I International Airport (PIA) in Kumasi and Tamale International Airport (TIA).

Under the new schedule, Prempeh I International Airport will now remain open until 11:00 PM, while Tamale International Airport will operate until 10:00 PM daily.

This strategic adjustment aims to enhance domestic connectivity, particularly for passengers arriving from the United Kingdom, Europe, and other international destinations through Kotoka International Airport (KIA) in Accra.

Travelers can now connect to Kumasi and Tamale on same-day flights beyond 8:00 PM, eliminating the need for overnight layovers in Accra.

The move is expected to facilitate more seamless travel within Ghana and is aligned with the government’s broader economic revitalisation efforts under the “24-hour economy” policy.

This initiative forms part of the government’s Reset Agenda, designed to stimulate economic activity and improve livelihoods across the country.

Authorities believe this development will significantly benefit local communities, especially in Kumasi and Tamale, by supporting job creation, tourism, and regional business growth.

Airport concessionaires, including car rental services and food and beverage vendors, have welcomed the announcement, expressing optimism about the anticipated increase in passenger traffic and corresponding boost in revenues.

Domestic airlines have been encouraged to respond by increasing flight frequencies on these routes to meet rising demand, especially during evening hours.

To facilitate the implementation, a Notice to Airmen (NOTAM) has been officially issued to inform all airline operators of the revised operational timelines.

Ofori-Atta not resisting OSP, facing medical travel complications – Ibrahim Adjei

0

Ibrahim Adjei, former Assistant Secretary to the Office of former President Akufo-Addo, has clarified that medical complications, not any form of defiance, are preventing former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta from appearing before the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) as scheduled.

His comments follow heightened public interest after the OSP issued a stern notice directing Mr. Ofori-Atta to report in person to its headquarters on Monday, June 2, or face possible extradition proceedings.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily on Monday, June 2, Adjei dismissed suggestions that Mr. Ofori-Atta is evading the OSP’s summons, insisting that his medical condition is the only hindrance.

“He has to understand that it is not the unwillingness to travel, but the medical implications of travelling that are preventing Honourable Ken Ofori-Atta from coming. At no point has he said he won’t come. He has communicated where he is and the treatment he is undergoing while the OSP is away,” Adjei explained.

He added that Mr. Ofori-Atta’s legal team has submitted medical documents to both the OSP and the Human Rights Court, outlining his condition and pending surgical procedures.

“Nobody can accuse him of a last-minute excuse. His medical situation predates the current request. It’s really at the discretion of the OSP to say, given your circumstances, these are the issues we want you to answer, and he can do it.”

On Sunday, June 1, the OSP warned that if the former Finance Minister failed to appear on Monday, he would be reinstated on its list of wanted persons and formally declared a fugitive from justice.

The OSP also indicated it would begin the process of issuing an INTERPOL Red Notice—an international alert to locate and arrest a suspect for extradition.

Meanwhile, Mr. Ofori-Atta has requested a virtual session with the OSP due to ongoing medical complications.

T-bills auction undersubscribed raising GH¢3.53 billion in bids

Government reverts to undersubscription trend with GH¢353 Million Government reverts to undersubscription trend with GH¢353 Million

The government has reverted to its undersubscription trend in the latest Treasury bills auction raising GH¢3.53 billion, falling short by some GH¢353 million short of its GH¢3.89 billion target.

The shortfall comes on the back of a temporary rebound in the previous week when the government recorded an oversubscription of GH¢431 million following three consecutive weeks of auction shortfalls.

According to the Bank of Ghana’s auction results, the government aimed to raise GH¢3.89 billion but received total bids of GH¢3.53 billion.

Despite the shortfall, all bids across the tenors were fully accepted.

The government took up the entire GH¢2.69 billion tendered for the 91-day Treasury bill as well as GH¢554 million for the 182-day and GH¢286 million for the 364-day offers likely reflecting end-of-month liquidity needs.

Investor appetite for the 182-day and 364-day bills remained relatively weak.

A total of GH¢554 million and GH¢286 million were accepted for the 182-day and 364-day.

Yields on all three tenors declined marginally aligning with the Bank of Ghana’s current monetary policy posture aimed at fostering disinflation and reducing borrowing costs.

Ade Coker was politically civilised

0

Ibrahim Adjei, former Assistant Secretary to ex-President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, has paid glowing tribute to the late former Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Joseph Ade Coker, describing him as a “politically civilised” man who upheld decency in Ghana’s political discourse.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily on Monday, July 2,  Adjei expressed his condolences to the family of the deceased, the NDC, and the broader political community.

“My sincere condolences to his family and loved ones, and to the NDC and Ghanaian politicians as a whole. I have been on programmes with him for over 20 years. On those platforms, he always conducted his politics in a civil and principled manner. He stood his ground, and we would debate the issues, but when the cameras were off, we were brothers.”

Describing Ade Coker as a man of integrity and mutual respect, Adjei reflected on the late politician’s ability to engage in fierce political debate without allowing partisan differences to define personal relationships.

“He is a good name. We pray that the Almighty God will receive him well,” he added.

Citi News confirmed over the weekend that Joseph Ade Coker passed away on Saturday, May 31, 2025, at the Bank Hospital after a short illness. While the cause of death has not been officially disclosed, sources close to the family indicate that it followed a brief health complication.

Ade Coker was widely respected within the NDC and beyond for his bold political stance and consistent presence in national debates. First elected as the Greater Accra Regional Chairman of the NDC in 2009, he held the position for three consecutive terms until 2022, when he lost his re-election bid to Emmanuel Nii Ashie Moore.

Beyond politics, Mr. Coker also made notable contributions to sports administration, having served as Vice Chairman of the Ghana Football Association.

Cedi to gain as Ghana awaits $370m IMF tranche to boost reserves

Cedi to strengthen further this week – Reuters report

0

The Ghana cedi is forecasted to gain strength in the coming week, bolstered by continued remittance inflows and interventions from the central bank, while Kenya’s shilling is expected to remain steady, and Nigeria’s naira to stay range-bound, traders said.

GHANA

The cedi currency has jumped more than 40% versus the U.S. dollar this year, far outperforming its African and emerging market peers.

Data from the London Stock Exchange Group (LSEG) showed the cedi trading at 10.25 to the dollar on Thursday, compared to 11.55 per dollar at last Thursday’s close.

“The cedi has remained on the front foot for much of the last week, however, we’ve observed some increased hard currency demand from offshore players in the most recent sessions as they look to take profit from GHS investments,” Sedem Dornoo, a senior trader at Absa Bank Ghana, said.

“We reckon we’ll continue to see support around the current 10 levels in the very near term, however, the local unit will likely begin to rally again when this demand is cleared as the central bank continues to provide daily support to the market,” he added.

KENYA

Kenya’s shilling is expected to hold steady next week. The shilling traded at 129.00/50 per dollar, compared with last Thursday’s close of 128.95/129.45.

NIGERIA

Traders forecast Nigeria’s naira to maintain its trading range in the coming week, even amid demand from importers.

The naira’s stability is expected to be supported by the central bank’s weekly dollar sales and inflows from portfolio investors.

The naira was quoted around 1,587 to the dollar in intraday trading on Thursday versus last week’s closing quote of 1,586 naira.

The currency was changing hands around t 1,635 to the dollar in street trading on Thursday.

“I see naira trading between 1,580 and 1,590, supported by the central bank’s dollar sale. Though volatility remains possible, domestic policy and dollar inflows could help anchor the market,” one trader said.

UGANDA

The Ugandan shilling is expected to firm against the dollar, helped by inflows from this week’s Treasury auction, traders said.

At 0811 GMT commercial banks quoted the shilling at 3,627/3,637, compared to last Thursday’s close of 3,645/3,655.

“There was significant offshore (dollar) inflows into the bond auction, which I think will give the shilling a boost,” said a trader at one commercial bank.

The central bank this week held a large and rare private placement treasury bond auction where a total of 2.4 trillion Ugandan shillings ($661.70 million) worth of debt was on offer.

Select achievers as chiefs – Daasebre Ayebiahwe urges traditional kingmakers

Paramount Chief of the Odau people of Akyem Etwereso, Daasebre Ofosu Kwabi Ayebiahwe Paramount Chief of the Odau people of Akyem Etwereso, Daasebre Ofosu Kwabi Ayebiahwe

The Paramount Chief of the Odau people of Akyem Etwereso, Daasebre Ofosu Kwabi Ayebiahwe, has urged kingmakers in the various traditional areas of the country to select royals who are ambitious and development oriented as chiefs to advance the course of their communities.

According to him, the modern system provides diverse political and socio-economic challenges that require dynamic leadership to tackle. He stressed that being a royal alone is not enough for one to ascend to a throne in modern times if the chieftaincy institution is to continue to be respected and take its pride of place in society.

“People should not occupy chieftaincy positions just because they are royals; they must be royals who have good character and have made significant economic achievements. How can we make someone who cannot take care of himself a chief, how is he going to be able to bring development to his people when he cannot develop himself?”.

Daasebre Ayebiawhe made these remarks during the celebration of the 4th Akwasidae of the year which was marked with the entire Odau Traditional Council with colourful celebrations, traditions and culture at Akyem Etwereso.

Reacting to a proposal for the appointment of a chief for one of his towns, Daasebre Ayebiawhe said “Gone are the days when entire communities used to work and farm to sustain their chiefs. These days, the citizens expect more from their chiefs and it is incumbent on us to seek to influence resource allocation to develop our people.” he continued, “It is not enough to be a custodian of tradition. Chiefs must be agents of development. We must influence our citizens to invest in property and businesses in our hometowns and villages, we must influence our wealthy friends to invest in our communities. We must influence our national government to invest in our infrastructure, We must influence NGOs to invest and make a meaningful impact in our lives. We must influence international agencies to support the development of our people.

When we do these as Chiefs, then we are prioritizing the wellbeing of our people and therefore leading to the betterment of their lives.”.

Daasebre Ofosu Kwabi Ayebiawhe bemoaned the numerous disputes surrounding chieftaincy and vowed to work hard to bring those within his traditional area to peaceful settlements.

Daasebre Ayebiawhe capitalised on the Akwasidae celebration to introduce businessman, Nana Osei Afrifa, to his people as the nominated Twafohene of Akyem Odau Traditional area. Nana Osei Afrifa, an IT Specialist and businessman is the CEO of Afrifanom Limited, a Ghanaian IT Company that specialises in Software Development. He is the brain behind Ghana’s National Digital Address System. Nana Osei Afrifa is set to take his traditional oath of office as Twafohene on Monday 7th July 2025.

Daasebre Ofosu Kwabi Ayebiawhe was enstooled as the Paramount Chief of the Odau Traditional Area in 2021. The Odau Traditional area, which falls under the Benkum Division of Akyem Abuakwa, has 12 Palanquin Town Chiefs (Apakanfuo) and 46 Village Chiefs (Adikro).

It covers parts of the Asante Akim South District, Akyemansa District, Kwaebebrim District and West Akim District. Daasebre Ayebiawhe has since constructed a multi-storey palace complex at Akyem Etwereso, the traditional capital and is embarking steadily on other projects such as Kwaneakwa tourist site, a hospital and a Police Station.

He believes that the prosperity of his reign is in alignment with the well-being of his people.

Prophet Owusu Bempah Drops Revelation About Dr Anne Sansa Daly

Popular Ghanaian prophet, Isaac Owusu Bempah, has dropped some revelations about Anne Sansa Daly, who was recently removed from the NHIA board of directors.

Over the past few days, many have said that Anne Sansa Daly is the girlfriend of Prophet Isaac Owusu Bempah. This claim was first made by Afia Schwarzenegger.

The man of God has strongly denied claims made by actress and social media personality Afia Schwarzenegger. The man of God said that he doesn’t know the lady. He added that he married a woman and gave birth to all his children so there is no evidence to show that he is married to another woman who is Anne Sansa Daly.

Afia Schwarzenegger made the claims shortly after news broke that President John Dramani Mahama had sacked Anne Sansa Daly from the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) board due to concerns about her license to practice medicine in Ghana. The actress alleged that the woman was romantically involved with the popular preacher and used that connection to gain the board appointment.

But speaking during church service on Sunday, June 1, 2025, Prophet Owusu Bempah rejected the claims. He told his congregation that he has never had any romantic relationship with Anne Sansa Daly. “That lady is not my girlfriend. I don’t know why Afia Schwarzenegger is spreading lies about me,” he said.

The prophet added that he is disappointed in Afia Schwarzenegger for dragging his name into a matter he knows nothing about. He described her actions as dangerous and warned her to stop spreading false news. “I am sending this strong warning to Afia Schwarzenegger. Don’t mention my name in your lies again,” he said firmly.

This reaction comes just days after the presidency removed Anne Sansa Daly from the NHIA board. Sources say she was removed because she claimed to be a medical doctor without a valid license to practice in Ghana. President Mahama has since appointed Professor Dr. Ernest Yorke to take her place.

The Best Minister In Mahama’s First Five Month In Office Revealed

0

Ghanaians have spoken, and the results are clear. After just five months in office, President John Dramani Mahama’s new ministers are already making a big impact. Among them, one name stands out as the best-performing minister so far is Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, the Minister for Finance.

In a recent public opinion poll, many Ghanaians were asked to name the minister who has impressed them the most since Mahama returned to power in January 2025. The responses came from people across all regions of the country. While many ministers were praised for their hard work, Dr. Ato Forson received the highest number of votes.

Dr. Forson has been praised for stabilizing Ghana’s economy in a short period. One of his major achievements so far is reducing the exchange rate of the Ghana cedi to the US dollar. When he took office, one dollar was selling for 16 cedis. Today, it is around 10.2 cedis. This has brought some hope to businesses and ordinary Ghanaians who depend on imports.

Other ministers who received public praise include John Jinapor, Minister of Energy and Petroleum, and Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, who is serving as the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Dr. Frank Amoakohene, the Ashanti Regional Minister, also got recognition for his leadership in the region. Greater Accra’s Linda Ocloo was also mentioned among the hardworking ministers.

Also making the list were Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Minister for Lands and Natural Resources; Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, Minister of Health; Dominic Ayine, Attorney General and Minister of Justice; and Samuel Nartey George, Minister of Communications and Digital Technology.

Despite the strong performances of many of these ministers, Ghanaians have chosen Dr. Ato Forson as the standout minister in President Mahama’s government so far.

Today, lace remains a staple in women’s wardrobes, offering a delicate yet striking aesthetic that complements both casual and formal outfits.

One of the most captivating aspects of lace is its ability to enhance a woman’s natural elegance. Whether it’s a full-length lace gown, a lace-accented blouse, or a lace-trimmed skirt, the fabric adds a layer of texture and sophistication. For evening wear, black or deep-colored lace dresses exude mystery and allure, while white or pastel lace is often reserved for bridal wear and summer events due to its light and ethereal quality.

For instance, a lace crop top paired with high-waisted jeans offers a modern, chic look perfect for daytime outings. Alternatively, lace jumpsuits or trousers are making waves in the fashion world, bringing innovation to traditional lace usage.

Strong exports, remittances driving Cedi appreciation – UMB Capital Finance Head

0

The sustained appreciation of the Ghanaian cedi against major international currencies is being driven by a combination of strong export performance, rising remittances, and coordinated fiscal and monetary policies, according to Nelson Cudjoe Kuagbedzi, Head of Finance at UMB Capital.

Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Monday, June 2, 2025, Kuagbedzi pointed to key economic fundamentals that have contributed to the cedi’s continued stability and significant gains in the forex market.

Between January and late May 2025, the cedi appreciated from approximately GHS 15.00 to GHS 10.20 per USD—representing a cumulative gain of about 32%.

Explaining the reasons behind the strong performance, Kuagbedzi said:

“The appreciation of the cedi is a result of the performance of our traditional exports. Gold has been doing well, cocoa has also been doing well. Our non-traditional exports have also seen strong performance.”

He further noted that increased remittance inflows have boosted Ghana’s international reserves.

“As of the end of April, our growth in international reserves was about $10.7 billion, which represents about 4.7 months of import cover,” he stated.

Addressing the dynamics of the foreign exchange market, Kuagbedzi said:

“There is always the issue of demand and supply. As it stands now, the Bank of Ghana has enough forex to meet the demand of those who actually need it, especially those engaged in international transactions.”

He also praised the synergy between the Bank of Ghana and the Ministry of Finance for creating a stable macroeconomic environment.

“The BoG’s own monetary policy, in addition to fiscal strategies by the Ministry of Finance, is also playing the magic,” Kuagbedzi added.

Cedi to gain as Ghana awaits $370m IMF tranche to boost reserves

How Bawumia & Co Nailed Wontumi

0

By Richmond Keelson, Ontario, Canada

The persona of the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party, Bernard Antwi Boasiako—popularly known as Chairman Wuntumi—continues to stir emotions. His public image is laced with annoyance, buffoonery, and outright dejection.

On the flip side, however, there is a pretentious acceptance— that his irrational traits are, in fact, deliberate and carefully crafted to serve a specific agenda and its intended beneficiaries.

This record-breaking funding will revolutionize healthcare delivery This record-breaking funding will revolutionize healthcare delivery

Parliament has approved a monumental GHS10 billion allocation for the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) in 2025, marking a significant boost to Ghana’s public healthcare financing.

In a report by insightghana.com.gh, this record-breaking funding, up from GHC6 billion in 2024, will revolutionize healthcare delivery, providing millions with access to quality medical care.

Breakdown of the Allocation

The NHIA will disburse the approved amount as follows:

– Claims payment: GHC6.5 billion (65.1%)

– NHIA operational expenses: GHC1.2 billion (12.3%)

– District office support: GHC124 million (1.2%)

– Allocation to Ministry of Health: GHC984 million (9.8%)

New Priorities in 2025

Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, revealed that the increased funding will support primary healthcare delivery, fill revenue gaps created by donor withdrawal, and fund initiatives like the Ghana Trust Fund (also known as ‘Mahama Care’).

Notably, dialysis treatment will now be covered under the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS), a critical milestone for patients with kidney disease.

Focus on Chronic Diseases

The Mahama Care initiative will prioritise funding for chronic non-communicable diseases (NCDs) like kidney infections and stroke, which account for 45% of mortality in Ghana.

This development demonstrates the government’s commitment to ensuring quality healthcare for all Ghanaians, regardless of financial situation.

Funding Sources

The National Health Insurance Fund (NHIF) is financed through:

– National Health Insurance Levy (NHIL)

– SSNIT contributors

– Returns on NHIF investments

Impact on Healthcare Delivery

The GHS10 billion funding will enable the NHIA to:

– Expand coverage to more Ghanaians

– Improve healthcare infrastructure

– Enhance quality of healthcare services

– Reduce out-of-pocket expenses for patients

This historic allocation marks a significant step towards universal healthcare in Ghana.

Andy Appiah-Kubi is the lawyer for Chairman Wontumi Andy Appiah-Kubi is the lawyer for Chairman Wontumi

Andy Appiah-Kubi, legal representative for Bernard Antwi Boasiako (popularly known as Chairman Wontumi), has announced that his team will maintain a strict focus on the legal aspects of the case to secure his client’s release.

This decision comes as Wontumi, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), faces detention by the Economic and Organized Crime Office (EOCO) for allegedly causing financial loss to the state.

The arrest has sparked nationwide protests by NPP members and heightened political tensions.

In a report by insightghana.com.gh, despite the charged atmosphere, Appiah-Kubi emphasised in an exclusive interview on Friday, May 30, “I beg you, all of you; I will stay out of the politics and theatrics and I’ll do the work within the law.”

Appiah-Kubi confirmed that he and his team had successfully met the GHC 50 million bail requirement with two sureties, stating, “We have been able to provide the sureties; that one I can assure you.”

However, despite clearing the bail conditions, Chairman Wontumi will remain in detention over the weekend due to a new legal complication.

“We encountered a challenge, a legal challenge unknown to me; there was an application that prohibits us,” Appiah-Kubi revealed.

He added that this unexpected development would be addressed in court on Monday.

The lawyer thanked Bryan Acheampong for assisting in filing the necessary property documentation, assuring that the value of the submitted assets exceeded the required amount.

As the case unfolds, all eyes are on the legal system to deliver justice.

Appiah-Kubi remains optimistic that Monday could bring freedom for Chairman Wontumi once the newly emerged legal roadblock is addressed.

Meanwhile, the lawyer denied rumors of Wontumi’s alleged hunger strike, saying, “Two days ago in the evening, I had dinner with him. I’m going to see him now at EOCO. After that, he will respond whether this happened today or yesterday.”

The situation continues to draw attention, with NPP supporters condemning the bail conditions as “unreasonable” and politically motivated.

Kwasea, Keep Quiet – Okatakyie Afrifa Blasts Kwaku Manu Over Mahama Insult Controversy

Okatakyie Afrifa has once again found himself in the middle of controversy, this time taking direct aim at Kumawood actor Kwaku Manu over his comments regarding insults directed at President John Mahama. The outspoken media personality did not hold back, launching a scathing attack on Manu for what he sees as an attempt to shield Mahama from public criticism.

The dispute began when Kwaku Manu publicly called on Mahama to introduce legislation that would criminalize online insults against prominent figures, including the President and the Asantehene Otumfuo Osei Tutu II. Manu argued that social media has become a breeding ground for unwarranted attacks on respected individuals, suggesting that offenders should face a one-year jail sentence.

Afrifa, known for his fiery rhetoric, wasted no time in responding. He dismissed Manu’s concerns, arguing that public figures, especially politicians, must be prepared to face scrutiny and criticism. He accused Manu of attempting to silence dissent and questioned why similar calls were not made when other leaders faced harsh criticism. Afrifa’s response was blunt and unapologetic, making it clear that he believes freedom of speech should not be compromised.

The exchange has sparked intense debate across social media, with supporters of both men weighing in. Some agree with Manu, believing that Ghana’s political discourse has become too toxic, while others side with Afrifa, asserting that criticism—however harsh—is an essential part of democracy. The clash between the two personalities highlights the growing tension between respect for authority and the right to express dissent.

As the controversy unfolds, one thing is certain: the battle between political commentary and freedom of speech continues to shape Ghana’s media landscape. Whether Manu’s proposal gains traction or Afrifa’s stance prevails, the discussion underscores the delicate balance between protecting public figures and ensuring that citizens retain their right to voice their opinions. The coming days will reveal whether this debate leads to meaningful discourse or simply fades into the background of Ghana’s ever-evolving political scene.

Tears Flow as Prez Mahama Allegedly Demolishes Konadu Agyemang Rawlings’ House Amid Ken Agyapong

0

In a shocking turn of events, reports have surfaced alleging that former President John Dramani Mahama has orchestrated the demolition of a residence linked to Nana Konadu Agyemang Rawlings, the former First Lady of Ghana. The incident has sparked outrage, with Member of Parliament Kennedy Agyapong delivering a fiery response that has further fueled the controversy.

According to circulating reports, the property in question was situated on a Ramsar site, an area designated for environmental protection. The demolition has led to widespread speculation about the motivations behind the move, with some suggesting political undertones while others argue it was a necessary enforcement of land regulations.

Eyewitnesses claim that the demolition was carried out under the directive of authorities, leaving many in disbelief. Videos circulating online show emotional reactions from affected individuals, with some expressing frustration over the perceived injustice.

Never one to shy away from controversy, Kennedy Agyapong has reportedly reacted with intense criticism, condemning the alleged actions of Mahama. In a widely shared video, Agyapong is seen passionately addressing the issue, calling out what he describes as political victimization. His remarks have resonated with many, further polarizing public opinion on the matter.

The incident has reignited discussions about land ownership, political power struggles, and governance in Ghana. While some view the demolition as a necessary enforcement of environmental laws, others see it as an unjustified attack on a prominent political figure.

As the debate rages on, Ghanaians are left questioning the true motives behind the demolition and whether justice will be served. Will this controversy shape future political narratives, or will it fade into the background as another chapter in Ghana’s political history?

Hairstyles for Ladies: Enhancing Beauty and Expression

0

Hairstyles have long been a powerful form of self-expression, especially for women. A lady’s hairstyle can reflect her personality, lifestyle, culture, and even her mood. With a vast array of options available, choosing the right hairstyle can be both exciting and overwhelming. From timeless classics to modern trends, there’s a hairstyle to suit every face shape, hair type, and personal style.

One of the most popular choices is the bob cut. Whether it’s a sleek straight bob or a wavy textured version, this style is favored for its versatility and chic appearance. For women who prefer longer hair, layered cuts can add volume and movement, enhancing the overall look. Layers work particularly well for women with thick or wavy hair, creating a balanced and manageable style.

For those with curly hair, embracing natural curls has become a powerful trend. Styles like the curly afro, twist-outs, or braid-outs allow women to wear their curls proudly while minimizing heat damage. Meanwhile, protective styles such as box braids, cornrows, and twists are not only stylish but also help maintain hair health by reducing breakage and promoting growth.

Updos and buns are elegant options for formal occasions. A high bun or a French twist can give a refined, polished look, perfect for weddings, corporate settings, or social gatherings. On the casual side, ponytails, messy buns, and half-up styles offer a quick yet fashionable solution for daily wear.

Ultimately, the best hairstyle for a lady is one that makes her feel confident and beautiful. It should complement her features, fit her lifestyle, and reflect her individuality. With regular care and a touch of creativity, every woman can enjoy a hairstyle that enhances her natural beauty and personal flair.

“You kept calling and pleading with me to help cover you up… because you embezzled their millions,” Rita alleged. “As the rogue you are, you paid your way through.”

Ghanaians In Shóck As Prophet Kofi Oduro Confirms Death

0

A deeply emotional event has recently shaken the life of Prophet Kofi Oduro, the founder and lead pastor of Alabaster International Ministry. During his sermon on Sunday, June 1, 2025, the renowned preacher revealed a heartbreaking personal tragedy: the sudden death of a beloved family member.

Prophet Oduro shared with his congregation that his cousin had tragically collapsed without warning. Those present at the scene tried urgently to transport him to the hospital. However, his large physical build made it extremely difficult for them to move him quickly. Despite their immediate efforts, they were forced to seek help from neighbors to carry him. By the time they succeeded in getting him to the hospital, doctors sadly confirmed that he had passed away.

Clearly shaken, Prophet Oduro spoke with heartfelt emotion about the unpredictability of life and the inevitability of death. He reminded his congregation that no one knows the precise moment when life will come to an end. This painful experience, he said, serves as a sobering reminder of how fragile human existence truly is.

Using the tragic loss as a teachable moment, the prophet encouraged his followers to live godly lives and remain spiritually prepared. He highlighted the biblical truth that life on earth is temporary and that everyone will eventually face judgment. His message resonated as both a personal reflection of his grief and a spiritual call to repentance and dedication to God.

The congregation listened with great empathy, many visibly touched by the announcement. Their silent expressions of support reflected the heavy emotions in the room.

Prophet Oduro, widely respected for his fiery sermons and leadership, has received an outpouring of love and prayers from the Christian community in the wake of this loss. May his cousin’s soul rest peacefully.

‘You couldn’t have made $100,000 in six days without duping people’

Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah and Anne Sansa Daly Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah and Anne Sansa Daly

Media personality Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah has denied claims made by embattled self-styled medical practitioner “Dr” Anne Sansa Daly, who alleged that she made a staggering $100,000 during a six-day trip to Ghana from the United States.

In a video shared online, Anne Sansa Daly who has been exposed as a fake medical doctor, is seen displaying several bundles of dollar bills while boasting that she earned $100,000 through deals with just two hospitals in Ghana.

“Hammond, I want to give you some work to do for me. I want you to send this message to Foster that his Uber cars and his noisy Range Rover, which causes noise pollution… tell him that I said within my six days in Ghana, from just two contracts with two hospitals, I made not less than $100,000.”

However, speaking on his “For The Records” show on Sunday, June 1, 2025, Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah, who has been leading a campaign to expose Anne Sansa Daly as a fraud, dismissed her claims as outright falsehoods.

He asserted that Daly, who is allegedly known for duping unsuspecting individuals, could only have acquired that kind of money through fraudulent means with the support of US-based Ghanaian media personality Kevin Taylor, whom he accused of being her accomplice.

“It is a big lie. On record, she has not secured any contract deals with any hospitals. She does not own or operate any hospital in Ghana. If she claims to have made such an amount, it could only be through defrauding people with support from Kevin Taylor.

“That is what they do, they blackmail people into paying them. Some of their victims are in government, some are prominent individuals, and others are wealthy men, including one rich Nigerian named Femi. For certain reasons, I won’t mention his full name. This girl duped him for years, feeding him false stories after sleeping with him just once.”

Describing Anne Sansa Daly as a blackmailer, Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah displayed screen shots of messages from the former to some of her ‘victims’ where she alleged scammed people.

President John Dramani Mahama on May 28, 2025, revoked the appointment of Anne Sansa Daly from the Board of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA), following concerns about her lack of a valid license to practise medicine in Ghana and the US.
