The life story of Asantehemaa, Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III

0

Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III was born in 1927 to the 13th Asantehemaa, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem III (1977-2016), and Opanin Kofi Foffie, also known as Koofie or Keewuo of Besease near Atimatim, a suburb of Kumasi.

He was a carpenter by profession. Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III, the 14th Queen of Asante, was the firstborn of Asantehemaa Nana Afia Kobi’s five children, the youngest of whom is Asantehene Otumfour Osei Tutu II.

In her teens, traditional puberty rites were performed for her to usher her into womanhood. After that, she got married to Opanin Kwame Boateng, a blacksmith by profession who hailed from Aduman, near Kumasi.

At a very early age, just when she was a little over a year old and being breastfed, Nana Panin was separated from her biological mother and given to her aunt (mother’s sister), Nana Afia Konadu, at Ashanti New Town (Ash-Town), a suburb of Kumasi.

Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III, who, known in early life as Nana Panin, became well educated for life through informal palace education, though she did not go through any formal education.

In 1959, at the age of about 22, Nana Panin was christened and baptised into the saviour church of Ghana with the Christian name Ruth.

She was also of the Anglican church by convention, for every Asantehene and Asantehemaa is an automatic member and patron of the Anglican Church.

By occupation, Nana Konadu Yiadom III was a caterer who specialised in local dishes. She was also into food crop farming and petty trading.

Her hobbies were cooking, music, and dance. In 2016, when her mother, the Asantehemaa, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem III, passed on to eternity at the age of one hundred and eleven (111), Nana Ama Konadu (Nana Panin) was chosen to take her place on the 6th of February, 2017, with the stool name Nana Ama Konadu Yiadom III.

This fulfilled the prophecy of the Kwaku Firi Shrine through Baafuo Osei Akoto, a senior Linguist of the Asantehene.

During her reign from 2017 to 2025, Nana Konadu Yiadom III was known to be fair and firm, honest, and a good advisor. She had her own court where all her judgements were hailed as fair.

The saviour church of Ghana has named a school at Bonwire after her, Nana Konadu Saviour School.

May she rest in perfect peace.

NDC has lost a great strategist – Sodzi-Tettey

0

The Chief Executive Officer of the National Vaccine Institute (NVI), Dr. Sodzi Sodzi-Tettey, has paid tribute to the late Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, describing him as a principled and selfless leader who dedicated his position to serving the interests of many rather than his own.

“He was there for a larger cause than himself,” Dr. Sodzi-Tettey said.

Recalling Dr. Omane Boamah’s role in the 2024 campaign, Dr. Sodzi-Tettey noted that the former minister was instrumental in dispelling doubts about the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) ability to compile electoral votes.

Speaking during an interview on Channel One TV’s The Point of View on Monday, August 11, he described Dr. Omane Boamah as a pillar to his family, a great leader to the nation, and a strategist for the NDC.

“Prior to Omane Boamah, there was a standing joke that the NDC was not able to compile electoral votes. I was actively involved in the 2024 campaign, and in many places that I would go to, people would call me and ask, ‘Are you guys going to be able to secure the votes?’. This was the fear; many people took it for granted that we would win. They were not sure whether we would be able to secure the votes or not.

He added, “The moment President Mahama appointed Dr Omane Boamah, I knew this was not going to be business as usual. Omane put together a training manual and trained not less than 160,000 polling agents. Today, that theory about NDC not being able to secure votes is erased. Thanks in large part to the leadership of Omane. His family has lost a pillar, the country has lost a great leader, and the NDC has lost a strategist. It’s sad we have lost all these people at the prime of their lives.”

Dr. Sodzi-Tettey also highlighted the late minister’s influence on the medical profession, saying he inspired doctors to pursue leadership roles beyond the consulting room.

“He excelled at all his roles. And because of that powerful example he set, any doctor anywhere can aspire to great things and not be constrained to the consulting room. If you can be a doctor, you can be a politician. And I think that was a powerful example he set. The ability to diversify in all of these roles,” he said.

The helicopter crash claimed the lives of eight people, including Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, former parliamentary candidate, Samuel Aboagye, and National Democratic Congress (NDC) Vice Chairman, Samuel Sarpong, and Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator.

The crew members who perished were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

A state funeral for the victims will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Black Star Square in Accra.

The programme is designed as a hands-on, immersive experience targeting entrepreneurs, business owners, team leads, frontline managers, product designers, marketers, operation managers, and programme heads in both the private and public sectors.

It promises to move participants from theory to practical application through guided individual and team-based sessions.

Salis Abdul Samed draws Turkish interest but keeps focus on Europe’s elite leagues

Ghanaian midfielder Salis Abdul Samed Ghanaian midfielder Salis Abdul Samed

Turkish sides are keeping a close watch on Ghanaian midfielder Salis Abdul Samed after his return from a loan spell with Sunderland.

Kayserispor is said to be working on a loan offer and actively trying to win over both Lens and the player.

Basaksehir is also showing interest.

The 25-year-old had a challenging season in England, hampered by a long psoas injury, but finished on a high as Sunderland secured promotion to the Premier League. The former Clermont Foot midfielder made eleven appearances for the Black Cats. He has since gone back to French side RC Lens, where his contract runs until June 2028.

While Turkish clubs push to bring him in, sources suggest Abdul Samed is leaning toward a fresh challenge in one of Europe’s top five leagues. His commitment to that goal is strong despite tempting approaches.

Elsewhere, CSKA Moscow has been linked with him, but geopolitical issues have ruled out any move to Russia. Transfer market values the Ghanaian midfielder at a 5.50 million.

Outrage as baby dies after genital mutilation in The Gambia

0

An attempt to allow FGM in The Gambia once more was thwarted by campaigners last year An attempt to allow FGM in The Gambia once more was thwarted by campaigners last year

The death of a one-month-old baby girl who was the victim of female genital mutilation (FGM) in The Gambia has sparked widespread outrage.

The baby was rushed to a hospital in the capital, Banjul, after she developed severe bleeding, but was pronounced dead on arrival, police said.

Although an autopsy is still being conducted to establish the cause of her death, many people have linked it to FGM, or female circumcision, a cultural practice outlawed in the West African state.

“Culture is no excuse, tradition is no shield, this is violence, pure and simple,” a leading non-governmental organisation, Women In Leadership and Liberation (WILL), said in a statement.

Two women had been arrested for their alleged involvement in the baby’s death, police said.

The MP for the Kombo North District where the incident happened emphasised the need to protect children from harmful practices that rob them of their health, dignity, and life.

“The loss of this innocent child must not be forgotten. Let it mark a turning-point and a moment for our nation to renew its unwavering commitment to protecting every child’s right to life, safety, and dignity,” Abdoulie Ceesay said.

FGM is the deliberate cutting or removal of a female’s external genitalia.

The most frequently cited reasons for carrying it out are social acceptance, religious beliefs, misconceptions about hygiene, a means of preserving a girl or woman’s virginity, making her “marriageable”, and enhancing male sexual pleasure.

The Gambia is among the 10 countries with the highest rates of FGM, with 73% of women and girls aged 15 to 49 having undergone the procedure, with many doing so before the age of six years.

WILL founder Fatou Baldeh told the BBC that there was an increase in FGM procedures being performed on babies in The Gambia.

“Parents feel that if they cut their girls when they’re babies, they heal quicker, but also, because of the law, they feel that if they perform it at such a young age, it’s much easier to disguise, so that people don’t know,” she said.

FGM has been outlawed in The Gambia since 2015, with fines and jail terms of up to three years for perpetrators, and life sentences if a girl dies as a result.

However, there have only been two prosecutions and one conviction, in 2023.

A strong lobby group has emerged to demand the decriminalisation of FGM, but legislation aimed at repealing the ban was voted down in parliament last year.

FGM is banned in more than 70 countries globally but continues to be practised particularly in Africa’s Muslim-majority countries, such as The Gambia.

Zara’s use of ‘unhealthily thin’ models ‘socially irresponsible’

0

Zara’s use of ‘unhealthily thin’ models has been criticised as ‘socially irresponsible’ by the advertising watchdog.

The Advertising Standards Authority (ASA) received a complaint in May about two product listings on Zara’s website, which showed a model in an oversized pocket shirt and another in a voluminous short dress.

The complainant argued the images were irresponsible because the models appeared dangerously underweight.

The fashion giant defended the listings, saying both models had worked for reputable fashion brands and held medical certificates confirming they were in good health.

The company added that the photos were only edited for minor lighting and colour adjustments.

However, the retailer has since removed the images and amended the listings following the complaint.

The ASA said the low-cut design of the shirt in the first ad drew attention to the model’s upper chest area, creating a focal point around her collarbone, which was protruding.

In addition, the positioning of her arms, while wearing a baggy shirt, created the impression that her arms, shoulders and chest were very slim.

The ASA said: ‘Overall, we considered that the pose of the model and the choice of clothing in the ad created the impression that the model was unhealthily thin.’

The watchdog said the styling and lighting of the second image and the choice of clothing meant the ad created the impression that the model was unhealthily thin.

The ASA said: ‘For the above reasons, we concluded that the models… appeared unhealthily thin and that the ads were irresponsible.’

A Zara UK spokesman said: ‘We note the ASA’s decision following an individual complaint regarding two images on our website which we removed when the ASA made us aware.

‘We are committed to responsible content and follow stringent guidelines and controls in the selection and photographing of models, as well as in the selection of images.’

It’s not the first time that the fashion giant has been under fire for its advertising.

In 2023, it had to row back on its advertising campaign featuring mannequins with missing limbs and statues wrapped in white that triggered calls for a boycott by some pro-Palestinian activists.

Some online drew parallels between the mannequins wrapped in white sheets and the distressing images of bodies in white shrouds which have come out of Gaza since October 7 amid the war between Israel and Hamas.

Critics accused the retailer of insensitivity towards deaths in war-torn Gaza after images from the fashion shoot featured mannequins with missing limbs and a model in a wooden box and surrounded by rubble.

Other images, which have since been removed from the firm’s Instagram page, show supermodel Kirsten McMenamy posing with mannequins wrapped in white cloth and plastic.

‘Unfortunately, some customers felt offended by these images, which have now been removed, and saw in them something far from what was intended when they were created,’ Zara said in a post on its Instagram account.

It added the photoshoot took place a month before the Hamas attacks of October 7, which triggered the ongoing war in Gaza.

Helicopter tragedy a profound loss to Ghana – NPRA

0

The National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA) has joined the nation in mourning the eight lives lost in the August 6 military helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, describing the tragedy as a profound loss to Ghana’s governance, security, and development.

In a statement issued on Monday, August 11, the Authority expressed deep sorrow over the deaths of cabinet ministers, senior officials of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), and military officers who, through their service and dedication, made significant contributions to the country.

The victims included Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah; Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed; Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Muniru Mohammed; former parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye; and NDC Vice Chairman Samuel Sarpong. Also among the deceased were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

The NPRA extended its condolences to the government, grieving families, and loved ones, acknowledging the deep pain of the loss, particularly for the spouses and children left behind.

Ghanaians paid their final respects to Dr. Murtala Muhammed and Muniru Mohammed on Sunday, August 10. A state funeral for all victims is scheduled for Friday, August 15, at the Black Star Square, where their service and legacy will be honoured.

The NPRA further commended the unwavering dedication of the emergency responders, security
services, and medical teams who arrived first on the scene.

“Their bravery and professionalism offer a beacon of hope amid our sorrow,” they added.

Harry and Meghan sign new multi-year Netflix deal

0

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have announced they are extending their deal for films and TV shows with Netflix.

This has been described as a “multi-year, first look deal”, which would give Netflix a first option on proposals from Prince Harry and Meghan’s Archewell production company.

It’s a looser arrangement than their previous deal, but it disproves claims that the Sussexes and Netflix are going to completely part company.

Meghan said that she and Harry were inspired by the partnership with Netflix to “create thoughtful content across genres that resonates globally, and celebrates our shared vision”.

It’s not known how many years the deal is set to last or what financial arrangement is attached. The previous deal, launched in 2020, was believed to be worth about $100m (£75m).

The announcement comes ahead of the second series of the cookery show, With Love, Meghan, being screened later this month.

Audience figures from Netflix showed the first series was not even in the streaming service’s top 300 most popular shows in the first half of 2025.

With Love, Meghan, a lifestyle series which showed Meghan cooking with celebrity friends, had 5.3 million views. In comparison, the most-watched programme on Netflix during that time was the drama Adolescence with 145 million views.

A previous Netflix documentary, Harry & Meghan, recounting the couple’s departure from their lives as “working royals”, had a bigger audience, with 23.4 million views following its launch in December 2022.

Archewell has also announced a special Christmas season edition of With Love, Meghan, which invites viewers to “join Meghan in Montecito for a magical holiday celebration”.

With Love, Meghan has been accompanied by a food and drink range, called As Ever, which includes rosé wine and jams.

And there will be a show on Netflix later this year, with Harry and Meghan as producers, called Masaka Kids, A Rhythm Within, about an orphanage in Uganda being a beacon of hope in a situation “where the shadows of the HIV/Aids crisis linger”.

Bela Bajaria, Netflix’s chief content officer, said: “Harry and Meghan are influential voices whose stories resonate with audiences everywhere.

“The response to their work speaks for itself – Harry & Meghan gave viewers an intimate look into their lives and quickly became one of our most-watched documentary series.”

Set aside differences, honour legacies of helicopter crash victims – NUGS ex-leaders

0

Former leaders of the National Union of Ghana Students (NUGS) have expressed deep sorrow over the August 6 helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight prominent individuals, including former NUGS President, Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, and former Secretary-General of the All-Africa Students Union (AASU), Alhaji Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.

In a statement issued on August 11, 2025, the 2002/2003 NUGS leadership described the tragedy as “a collective blow to Ghana’s education, governance, and youth development sectors.”

Both men, the statement noted, were comrades-in-arms during their student leadership days, remembered for their “unwavering commitment to advocacy, justice, and the empowerment of Ghanaian students.”

The group called for national unity in the wake of the tragedy, urging Ghanaians to honor the legacies of the victims by championing education, equity, and national progress.

ORC to implement key reforms to’ reset’ Ghana’s business environment

0

Office of the Registrar of Companies Office of the Registrar of Companies

The Office of the Registrar of Companies (ORC) has announced plans to roll out key reforms to“reset” Ghana’s business environment.

Maame Serwaa Peprah, the Acting Registrar of Companies, said the reforms formed part of the ORC‘s mandate to modernise business registration and regulation, with a strong focus on enterprise risk management to enhance compliance and service delivery.

Speaking at the launch of the 2025 ORC Week Celebration in Accra on Monday, she said the reforms would include operationalising a call centre, upgrading digital registration systems, and expanding service delivery through a Prestige Centre.

Peprah added that the ORC was in the testing phase of an online platform that would enable businesses to complete registration processes remotely, without visiting the office.

“We are set to roll out these reforms by the end of the year, though strict timelines are difficult to give because these processes are time-sensitive,” she said.

This year’s ORC week celebration is on the themed: “Resetting the Business Environment: The Role of Enterprise Risk Management.”

As part of the celebration launch on Monday, the ORC hosted a Business Clinic at its head office, offering walk-in services for company registration and enquiries.

Peprah said such clinics provided “a one-time opportunity” for clients to have their issues resolved promptly while receiving education on compliance requirements.

On Tuesday, a stakeholder symposium will be held at the Alisa Hotel to discuss practical strategies for improving regulatory compliance, enhancing service delivery, and positioning the ORC as a driver of Ghana’s economic transformation.

The celebration will be climaxed on Wednesday with a public float through Accra to engage traders, entrepreneurs, and the public on the importance of business formalisation.

The First Deputy Registrar of Companies, Benjamin Zigorsh-Nyakpenu, and other senior staff joined Peprah in engaging clients during the opening day’s activities.

She said the event was to raise public awareness of the office’s services, address client concerns, and engaging stakeholders in shaping the future of business regulation.

“We are focusing on the various risks that affect the operations of companies, especially non-compliance with statutory obligations like filing annual returns and maintaining proper financial records. These are crucial to business health and the wider economy,” she said.

The Acting Registrar said under the Companies Act, the ORC was mandated to register sole proprietorships, partnerships, companies limited by shares and by guarantee, professional bodies, and to oversee company restructuring and winding up processes.

Participants in the Business Clinic praised the smoothness of the registration process and called for regular engagement sessions to strengthen relationships between the ORC and the business community.

The ORC Week Celebration runs from August 11 to 13, with a focus on strengthening Ghana’s business environment through compliance, collaboration and innovation.

Ghanaian music icon Daddy Lumba’s one-week observance will be held at the University of Ghana Sports Stadium in Accra on August 30, his family confirmed today.

The decision follows massive public turnout at recent vigils honoring the late highlife legend, born Charles Kwadwo Fosu, who passed away July 26 after a short illness at Accra’s Bank Hospital.

Choosing the stadium reflects the scale of national mourning for the artist, whose candlelight tributes overflowed with fans. “The family acknowledges the overwhelming love shown and seeks a space befitting his legacy,” a representative noted. Thousands of admirers are expected to gather for the ceremony.

Final funeral rites will occur later in Daddy Lumba’s ancestral Ashanti Region, though dates remain undecided. His passing at 60 marks the end of an era for Ghanaian music; the “Aben Wo Ha” hitmaker influenced generations with his distinctive blend of highlife and contemporary sounds.

As Accra prepares for the stadium observance, street vendors already sell tribute cloths bearing his image. The event underscores how deeply his music rooted itself in Ghana’s cultural identity.

Ghanaian music sensation Epixode lit up the stage at the 14th edition of the The Hague African Festival (THAF), delivering one of the most electrifying performances of the event’s closing weekend at ZuiderparkTheater.

Backed by the dynamic all-female Infinity Band, Epixode thrilled audiences with a high-energy set that fused Afro-dancehall, storytelling, and heartfelt tributes — a performance that affirmed his standing as one of Africa’s most versatile live performers.

Fresh from winning the 2025 Music for Good Award, Epixode’s appearance embodied the festival’s 2025 theme: “Changemakers.”

His artistry, message, and stage presence resonated powerfully with fans from across Europe and the African diaspora, as he used his platform to blend entertainment with conscious storytelling.

The Hague African Festival, under the visionary leadership of Augustina “MS.ABA” Austin, transformed the city into a vibrant celebration of African music, fashion, and cultural exchange.

This year’s multi-week celebration brought concerts, film screenings, exhibitions, and community activations to venues across The Hague.

Alongside Epixode, the vibrant entertainment lineup featured Senegalese artist Omar Ka, Tanzanian rising star Yacyn Wastara (a graduate of THAF’s talent program), and a stunning sustainable fashion showcase by Ghana’s own Dzogbefa, who wowed with naturally dyed textiles and bold silhouettes.

Her impact extended beyond the runway through a powerful initiative producing reusable menstrual products for girls — a nod to the social impact ethos at the heart of the festival.

Other standout moments included the Elevate Talent Program, led by Renato Saeroon, spotlighting fresh voices like 12-year-old prodigy Jayce, and thought-provoking events like the “Africa Living Room Sessions,” the film screening of Nawi, and the moving “Female Icons” exhibition.

Curated by MS.ABA, a celebrated multimedia personality and connector of global African creatives, THAF 2025 went beyond entertainment. It stood as a movement for African cultural pride, talent development, and international collaboration.

The Hague African Festival 2025 was made possible by Stichting Nteasee with generous support from the Municipality of The Hague, Fonds1818, Amare Den Haag, VSB Fonds, Mercure, Filmhuis Den Haag, ACE Medical Insurance, Stichting Topaz, and Badabing Visuals7.

Rwanda emulates ‘Ghanacard’ as it launches national digital identification system

Reports indicate many Rwandans have embraced the move and have started registering for the card Reports indicate many Rwandans have embraced the move and have started registering for the card

Rwanda has emulated Ghana’s successful national biometric identification system by launching its own “Rwandacard”, a national biometric identification system for the East African nation.

Ghana has become one of the few countries in the world after successfully implementing a nationwide digital identification system for all citizens and residents, which also serve as base document for multiple identification documents.

Rwanda now intends to join the fray, and its National Identification Agency (NIDA) has launched a nationwide registration exercise.

Biometric capture of citizens, however, is expected to kick off in September, NIDA Director General, Josephine Mukesha said, ahead of the roll of the new national digital ID billed for 2026.

Reports indicate many Rwandans have embraced the move and have already started registering for the biometric national card.

Like the Ghanacard, the initiative is aimed at providing every Rwandan citizen, refugee, and foreign resident in Rwanda with a secure biometric digital identity, which will facilitate access to a wide range of public and private sector services.

DCE lauds iron ore exploration in Kadjebi Akan District

0

Dr Sam Suraj Issaka, the District Chief Executive of Kadjebi Akan District in Oti Region, is upbeat about the prospects of exploration of iron ore in the district.

The DCE, in his address during the handing over ceremony of the core drilled iron ore for testing, believes the project will create jobs for the youth and stimulate development in the area.

Dr Issaka also commended the youth on their active participation during the drilling of the first face of the iron ore, which will go a long way in their lives with the skills and knowledge they had acquired so far.

The exploration project led by Africa Exploration and Minerals Group Limited (AEMG) in partnership with the Ghana Integrated Iron and Steel Development Corporation (GIISDEC), has reached a significant milestone with the handing over of the first core drilled iron ore sample.

Stakeholders, including officials from GIISDEC, AEMG, the Ghana Geological Survey Authority (GGSA), Traditional leaders, Republic Bank, Assembly Members, witnessed the ceremony.

Philip Opong Amponsah, Operation Deputy Chief Executive Officer, GIISDEC, emphasized that the exploration project would benefit all Ghanaians, particularly the Asato Gyamono community and the district at large.

He highlighted the importance of iron ore in Ghana’s economic development.

The samples would be taken to Australia by Ntertek Minerals Limited for testing, and if successful, commercial iron ore extraction will commence.

Osaberima Osei Bonsu V, the Paramount Chief of Asato Traditional Area, expressed hope that the project would contribute to the development of the area, particularly in healthcare delivery and youth development.

Abudulai Batiah Santi, Deputy CEO, Strategy and Investor Relations, GIISDEC, assured community members that the government would prioritize their welfare and development because the project involved local investors which would help government gain more access to participate to develop the country as compared to other minerals exploration in the country.

Dr Benjamin Dzoboko, the Managing Director of Republic Bank, highlighted the importance of mineral exploration in driving economic growth.

Republic Bank, the project’s sponsor, believes that supporting mineral exploration will not only benefit the bank but also contribute to the development of the community.

“In our area of expertise, we believe in seeing before investing but we believed in the proposal of AEMG before seeing the project and we are optimistic that the project would go a long way in the development of Ghana and Africa as a whole,” Dr Dzoboko said.

Isaac Obeng Darko, Chief Executive Officer of Africa Exploration and Minerals Group Limited, expressed his gratitude to the chiefs and people of the Asato and Gyamono community for their unwavering support during the drilling period and making the project a success.

He emphasized that the commitment of the youth had made the job easy with no casualty being recorded and wish to work with them after the results of the samples are out after a few days of testing.

At the end of the ceremony, over 15 young men were awarded with citations for their dedication to the success of the project.

Why Brazilian Wool Hairstyles Are a Game-Changer in African Hairdressing

0

Over the past few years, Brazilian wool has taken the African hairdressing scene by storm, becoming one of the most sought-after materials for creating bold and beautiful hairstyles. Its unique ability to mimic the texture of natural Afro hair, combined with its strength and vibrant color options, makes it a favorite for stylists and clients alike.

“Brazilian wool gives women the freedom to express themselves creatively, while also protecting their natural hair,” says Sarah Nkem, a Lagos-based hairstylist with over a decade of experience. “It’s lightweight, affordable, and the styling options are endless.”

What Makes Brazilian Wool So Popular?

Unlike traditional synthetic braiding hair, Brazilian wool is soft, lightweight, and exceptionally versatile. It can be used to achieve sleek, elegant styles or big, voluminous looks—depending on your mood or the occasion. Available in an array of rich colors, from jet black to fiery red and pastel tones, Brazilian wool opens up a new world of hair fashion, particularly for African women who love to switch things up.

Trending Brazilian Wool Hairstyles

Here are some of the most fashionable Brazilian wool hairstyles dominating the scene today:

1. Brazilian Wool Box Braids

This classic style remains a top favorite for good reason. Box braids made with Brazilian wool are fuller and more textured than those done with regular extensions. They’re easy to maintain and can be styled in countless ways—updos, ponytails, or left loose. Whether you’re dressing up for a wedding or just heading to work, box braids never go out of style.

2. Brazilian Wool Crochet Braids

Crochet braids offer a fast and convenient protective style that doesn’t sacrifice beauty for ease. With Brazilian wool, crochet braids become even more appealing. They deliver fullness, bounce, and curl definition, without weighing the scalp down. Plus, installation is quick, making them ideal for those with tight schedules.

3. Brazilian Wool Senegalese Twists

If you’re in the mood for something bold and elegant, Senegalese twists made with Brazilian wool are a top pick. The wool’s texture adds a smooth, silky finish to the twists while maintaining structure. These twists can last for weeks, offering a chic and low-maintenance option for fashion-forward women.

4. Brazilian Wool Faux Locs

Faux locs are the perfect style for anyone who wants the look of dreadlocks without the long-term commitment. Using Brazilian wool, stylists can create locs that are lightweight, soft, and natural-looking. These locs can be worn long or short, and are often accessorized with beads or metallic cuffs for added flair.

5. Brazilian Wool Ponytails

For a sleek, high-impact style, Brazilian wool ponytails are a go-to. Whether you want a smooth high ponytail or a curly puff, this hairstyle gives a modern twist to a classic look. It’s a great choice for both everyday glam and special occasions.

Why More African Women Are Choosing Brazilian Wool

Aside from being affordable and easy to work with, Brazilian wool offers protective benefits. It reduces tension on the scalp compared to heavier synthetic extensions and minimizes breakage. Plus, it’s perfect for women who want to explore new styles without compromising the health of their natural hair.

Final Thoughts

Brazilian wool is more than just a hair material—it’s a creative tool that empowers African women to embrace their individuality and culture through style. Whether you’re going for box braids, faux locs, or a dramatic ponytail, there’s a Brazilian wool look that fits your vibe.

Crystal Palace Beat Liverpool On Penalties To Win Community Shield

0

Dean Henderson saved two penalties as Crystal Palace fought back against Liverpool to win the Community Shield in a shootout after a 2-2 draw at Wembley.

Henderson kept out spot-kicks from Alexis Mac Allister and Harvey Elliott, after Mohamed Salah had missed the first penalty, as Palace added more silverware to their collection, having secured their first major trophy with FA Cup glory in May.

Liverpool summer signing Hugo Ekitike opened the scoring on his competitive debut in the fourth minute, assisted by another new addition, Florian Wirtz, before Jean-Philippe Mateta drew the sides level with a 17th-minute penalty.

Arne Slot’s Premier League champions restored their lead four minutes later through another debutant, Jeremie Frimpong, before Ismaïla Sarr’s 77th-minute equaliser forced penalties.

Justin Devenny wrapped up a 3-2 victory for the Eagles in the dramatic shootout.

The Football Association Community Shield is an annual match in English football contested at Wembley Stadium between the champions of the previous Premier League season and the holders of the FA Cup.

There were disappointing scenes as a small group of Crystal fans failed to observe the minute’s silence in memory of Diogo Jota ahead of Sunday’s Community Shield final – moments after Liverpool supporters booed the national anthem once again.

The match was Liverpool’s first competitive fixture since the tragic passing of the Portuguese star and his brother.

On July 3, Jota and his brother, Andre Silva, died when their car crashed in the early hours in northern Spain.

The 28-year-old forward had recently married his childhood sweetheart at a ceremony in his native Portugal following a campaign culminating in trophy-winning successes for both club and country.

Reds legend Ian Rush and Palace chairman Steve Parish were seen laying wreaths on the side of the pitch in memory of the two brothers.

The Liverpool half of the stadium was awash with banners and flags dedicated to Jota while TNT Sports cameras even spotted a Palace fan with his name on his shirt.

I wasn’t surprised when Mahama appointed Omane Boamah as Defence Minister – Nitiwul

Mon 11th Aug, 2025 18:43

Former Defence minister Dominic Nitiwul has said the late Edward Omane Boamah was one of the loyal politicians God gave Ghana. He said this at the Defence Ministry on August 11th 2025 where he went to sign the book of condolence for the late Defence Minister.

Ghana’s harrowing Wednesday, and the pain that still grips us

0

I was in my office on the afternoon of August 6, 2025, focused on work when my phone lit up with the news. At first, I thought it was just a routine update. But the moment I read that a military helicopter carrying some of our most respected state officials and military men had crashed, I froze. My heart sank. It felt unreal.

Around me, the office went quiet as everyone looked on their screens in shock. I could feel the weight of the news deep inside me. This was not just a story on the radio or television. It felt very personal to me.

That day, a Z-9 military helicopter left Accra for Obuasi on a mission to meet communities as part of efforts by the government to fight illegal mining. Shortly after take-off, it was said to have disappeared from radar.

Later, we learned it crashed in the forest near Sikaman in the Ashanti Region. All eight on board were killed.

His Excellency John Dramani Mahama declared a three-day national mourning, and flags were lowered to half-mast. This loss hurt us all because these were not strangers. They were people known to the public because of their service to the country.

Who we lost

State Officials

*Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Defence Minister.

*Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment Science and Technology.

*Dr Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman for the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

*Alhaji Limuna Mohammed Muniru, Acting Deputy National Security Coodinator.

*Samuel Aboagye, Acting Deputy Director General in Charge of Relief and Protocol at the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO).

The Crew

*Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala (Pilot).

*Flying Officer Manaen Twum-Ampadu (Co-Pilot).

*Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah (Crew member).

These individuals were committed to their duties, dedicated and brave. This painful memory will remain in our minds forever.

The pain of duty

As a public servant I feel this tragic loss deeply because I know it can happen to anyone. This is not politics, it is pure heartache. We lost a generation in a moment! Dying in the line of duty in such a horrific manner is painful. These men were serving our dear nation selflessly, and they gave their all. We cannot question God’s will, but I pray that such tragedy never happens in our country ever again. For their sacrifice and selflessness, my heart goes out to their families, especially their children. May God give them strength in this difficult time.

 National grief

President Mahama cancelled his engagements. The nation stopped. Flags were flown at half-mast. In my mind, I joined the families in grief, feeling the loss!

I was also with my boss, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Exim Bank (GEXIM) Honourable Sylvester Mensah and other colleagues when we laid a wreath at the Jubilee House on Thursday in memory of our fallen countrymen. One could see that we were not the only individuals badly affected both emotionally and physiologically by the unfortunate incident. Everyone else who gathered at the Jubilee house was visibly shaken. It was unforgettable!

These sorrowful moments have shown how united we can be as Ghanaians. In the face of this tragedy, the whole country came together. Millions have expressed their grief, shared heartfelt messages of condolence, and stood with the families as they mourn. It has been touching to see people from all walks of life showing concern and support. The leadership and members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) joined in expressing their sympathy, which is commendable. In times like this, we are reminded that beyond politics, backgrounds, and differences, we are one people. This unity is a strong indication that we can stand together, not only in sorrow but also in building a stronger, more united nation for all.

 A quiet reflection

Is it not surprising how quickly life can be taken away? Just hours earlier on that fateful day Wednesday August 6, 2025 these men were alive, full of purpose. Now they have become memories.

Life is indeed short and unpredictable. The sudden loss of our cherished brothers in this tragedy should remind all of us that no one knows what tomorrow holds. Let us love one another while we have the chance, speak kindly, forgive quickly, and support each other. Let us serve with patriotism and dedication, let us give our best to our nation in whatever role we play just as these victims of the helicopter crash did. In the end, love and service to others are the true legacies we have to leave behind.

Let us focus on working to make our beloved nation great and strong!

May their souls rest in perfect peace.

The writer is the Vice Chairman for the USA chapter of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

A call for respectful discourse in Ghana

0

In recent times, insults have unfortunately become a common feature in Ghana’s political and governance landscape and this regrettable phenomenon permeates both traditional and social media platforms.

The situation has worsened to the extent that the elderly, clergy, traditional rulers and other respected figures in society are targeted incessantly.

The advent of social media has amplified this trend as it provides a platform for all manner of individuals, particularly the youth to engage in unrestrained verbal attacks, intemperate vituperations and vitriolic abuses.

Whilst criticism is an essential part of democracy and nation-building, the use of insults erodes the moral fabric of society and undermines national cohesion. No nation in history has been built on the foundation of insults and Ghana must not chart that path.

History shows that the most advanced countries, such as the United States, Canada, the United Kingdom, Germany, Japan and others were not built through personal attacks or verbal abuses.

Their progress came from constructive dialogue, mutual respect and a collective vision for national growth.

Ghana, aspiring to achieve similar heights must therefore abandon the culture of insults in the political discourse. Insults do not solve problems, create policies, or drive development; they only deepen divisions, incite hatred and may sometimes distract people from the pressing issues that require national attention.

The issue becomes more worrying when the targets of these insults are people of high standing in society; traditional rulers, clergy, statesmen and national leaders.

In Ghanaian tradition, certain figures are accorded high respect because they serve as unifying forces in times of crisis. When these individuals are consistently insulted, they risk losing the reverence they need to mediate in national matters.

If there were to be serious conflict or national unrest, such individuals might be called upon to intervene. However, insults and public ridicule could weaken their moral authority and make them ineffective in resolving disputes.

Nation-building thrives when there are individuals whose words carry weight and whose presence commands attention.

These individuals; be they traditional leaders, religious figures, or experienced statesmen must be safeguarded from the corrosive and abrasive culture of insults.

Having said that, it is equally important for these leaders to conduct themselves in ways that do not invite unnecessary criticism or anger from the public.

Clergy and traditional rulers must avoid acts that could be perceived as partisan, unjust or morally questionable.

The Bible offers clear guidance on such matters: Proverbs 15:1 reminds us that “A gentle answer turns away wrath, but a harsh word stirs up anger.”

Leaders, therefore, must act with integrity, humility and wisdom to ensure that their actions do not inadvertently provoke disrespect.

The media also plays a significant role in this discourse. In recent times, some journalists have resorted to insults in their commentaries and interviews. Whilst they may claim to be engaging in criticism, the language they use often crosses the line into personal attacks and vitriolic abuses.

Such a conduct is not only unprofessional but also damaging to the values of responsible and professional journalism.

Children and young people often learn from what they see and hear and when the media normalizes insults, it indirectly teaches the next generation that verbal abuse is acceptable in public discourse.

Globally renowned journalists, whether from the BBC, CNN or Al Jazeera, are known for their ability to challenge authority and hold leaders accountable without resorting to derogatory language. Ghanaian journalists can uphold the same standards by maintaining professionalism, accuracy and decorum.

Politicians also bear responsibility in this matter. Some political figures are known to sponsor individuals or groups to engage in insults against opponents, thinking it will earn them political advantage.

This practice is dangerous for democracy and detrimental to national unity. Insults may deliver short-term political excitement, but they inflict long-term damage on the political culture of the country.

Politicians who truly love Ghana must rise above the temptation of verbal attacks and instead promote respectful, fact-based debates.

Ghana’s path to development requires unity, respect and constructive dialogue. Insults will not build roads, improve schools or strengthen the economy.

They will only deepen partisan divisions, create mistrust and cause distractions to nation-building.

It is time for all Ghanaians; leaders, journalists, politicians and ordinary citizens to embrace a new culture of respect in political discourse.

A nation is not built by tearing down its people through words, but by lifting each other up, even in disagreement. The call is clear: Ghana must reject the politics of insult and build its future on the solid foundation of respect, dialogue and mutual understanding.

Ghana Urged to Seize AfCFTA Edge Ahead of Critical Trade Fair

0

Capture Kk X
Capture Kk X

Ghana’s business leaders are sounding the alarm: the nation isn’t capitalizing on hosting the AfCFTA headquarters.

With the Intra-Africa Trade Fair (IATF 2025) in Algiers just months away, the Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) met Algeria’s ambassador to push for a stronger export push.

“There’s an opportunity situated in Ghana, and we’re not leveraging it,” warned GNCCI First Vice President Emelia Assiakwa. “If we don’t, we’re not helping ourselves.”

Her message was blunt—Ghana must pivot from exporting raw materials like cocoa, shea butter, and cassava to selling value-added goods. “How do we partner to add value here before exporting?” she challenged, urging businesses to pursue deals advancing agribusiness and industrialization. To maximize participation, the Chamber set no restrictive criteria: MSMEs and large firms alike can join if “ready to find partners.”

Algerian Ambassador Mousad Louhaidia confirmed advanced preparations, including talks on direct Accra-Algiers flights. “We’re enthusiastic to see Ghanaian businesses participate massively,” he stated, acknowledging Ghana’s pan-African leadership role.

AfCFTA Head of Communications Grace Khosa framed the stakes higher. Amid global trade tensions, she invoked Kwame Nkrumah’s vision: “Africa can insulate itself, or realize we can depend on each other.” IATF 2025, she stressed, is where “business meets policy, innovation meets capital, and African ambition meets African opportunity.” She highlighted tools like the Pan-African Payment System (PAPSS) breaking down trade barriers.

With Ghana’s AfCFTA headquarters offering a strategic edge, the pressure is on: will its businesses seize the lion’s share of the US$3.5 trillion African market—or let the privilege slip?

The Universal Concept of Mental Arithmetic System (UCMAS) celebrated academic excellence by awarding 350 pupils at its 14th National Competition, held from August 9–10 at the Pentecost Convention Centre in Kasoa, Central Region.

Under the theme “UCMAS: A Requisite Medium for Training 21st Century Students to Solve Global Challenges,” the event brought together 150 students from 140 schools across the country to showcase their mental arithmetic and logical reasoning skills.

The competition culminated in an awards ceremony where 350 pupils were recognized for their outstanding performance.

Many of the young awardees expressed deep gratitude for the impact UCMAS has had on their academic growth.

“Because of UCMAS, my logical thinking has improved. I used to be third in my class, but now I consistently rank first,” one pupil shared joyfully

Another student highlighted how the program has strengthened her abilities in mathematics and other subjects, noting significant academic improvement since joining UCMAS.

Caroline Acquah-Danstil, Area Manageress for UCMAS at Effiduase Asante Mampong, emphasized the transformative effect the initiative has had on pupils.

She acknowledged that while UCMAS is predominantly active in private schools, efforts are underway to collaborate with the government to extend the program to public basic schools.

Girish Gurbani, Managing Director of UCMAS Ghana, reflected on the organization’s fruitful relationship with the Ghanaian government since 2007.

He noted that despite UCMAS’s strong ties with private institutions, successive governments have consistently supported the initiatiative from former Education Minister to the present administration.

The event not only celebrated academic achievement but also reinforced UCMAS’s mission to equip young learners with the cognitive tools needed to thrive in a rapidly evolving world.

Ghana Gold Coin has created new avenues for wealth preservation

BoG Gold Coin is an investment tool BoG Gold Coin is an investment tool

The First Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr Zakari Mumuni, has explained the decision to introduce the Ghana Gold Coin (GGC) as an alternative investment tool.

According to him, the coin is a high-purity, investment-grade gold product designed to serve as a store of value, act as a hedge against inflation, provide an alternative investment asset class, and serve as a monetary policy tool to manage excess liquidity.

He made these remarks during CNVERGE ’25, Africa’s premier trade banking thought-leadership event on Wednesday, August 6, 2025.

“Overall, the GGC has opened new avenues for wealth preservation and portfolio diversification for the populace, especially in times of market uncertainty,” Dr Mumuni stated.

He also lauded the Domestic Gold Purchase Programme (DGPP), noting its positive impact on the bank’s reserves through strong reserve accumulation, exchange rate stability, and easing inflation.

‘Invest in hard times’ – Rev Eastwood cites Man United’s $201m spending as lesson

The Founder of Fountain Gate Chapel, Reverend Eastwood Anaba, has used Premier League giants Manchester United’s spending in the 2025 transfer season to encourage Christians to be generous.

He noted that despite Manchester United’s underwhelming performance in the 2024/2025 season, finishing 15th in the Premier League, the club still invested heavily ahead of the new campaign.

The clergyman pointed out that the Red Devils’ ability to spend about $201 million on new players to strengthen their squad is a reminder that people should be willing to invest even in challenging times.

“Manchester United, which is struggling, ranked 15th, has just spent $201 million on footballers. Because Manchester United can’t die like that, money has made them resilient,” he said, as shared on his X page on August 10, 2025.

Rev Anaba used the scenario to admonish Christians to be financially generous when it comes to church activities to reap benefits.

He warned that churches will soon collapse if people don’t pay offerings and invest when needed.

“If we don’t recover from our financial slumber, many of our churches will die. When a pastor holds a meeting at a convention center or elsewhere and doesn’t receive an offering, do you see how packed the place is? They say, ‘Oh, they did the meeting without receiving an offering.’

“They did the meeting, but someone behind the scenes paid for it. Someone gave $300,000; someone gave $1,000. May you be among those who support behind the scenes and make things happen,” he added.

Prophecies on national security must be coordinated – Adawudu

0

Member of the National Democratic Congress’ (NDC) legal and communications team, Victor Kwadjoga Adawudu, has called for a coordinated approach to handling prophecies that touch on matters of national security, urging religious leaders to exercise wisdom and responsibility in delivering such revelations.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily on Monday, August 11, he acknowledged the role of prophets in offering spiritual direction but warned against the influence of false prophecies, especially in moments of national distress.

“In as much as prophets give direction, we also know that there are some false prophets; that is why we need to sanitise. I am happy that it is being coordinated now, and once it is coordinated, what needs to be done to avert it will be done,” he said.

His comments come after the Presidential Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, urged religious leaders to formally submit any prophecy or spiritual insight of national significance for urgent review.

Mr. Adawudu also expressed confidence in the military and the presidency to investigate and address all concerns arising from the recent helicopter crash, which has sparked a wave of public speculation.

“I have full trust in the military and the presidency, and so they will want to find out and bring closure. Everybody should be rest assured that all issues that are being raised will be looked at, and I am sure that if there is need for collaboration, government will do that,” he assured.

The call for coordination follows a flurry of prophetic declarations after the August 6 military helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District, which claimed the lives of eight people, including top government officials and military personnel.

The August 6 crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region claimed the lives of Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence; Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation; Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Samuel Aboagye, former parliamentary candidate; and Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC)

Also on board were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, all of whom perished.

Dr. Murtala Muhammed and Muniru Mohammed have since been buried, with an inter-denominational state funeral for all the victims set for Friday, August 15, at the Black Star Square.

Meanwhile the  Presidential Envoy for Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations have urged  religious leaders to formally submit any prophecy or spiritual insight of national significance for urgent review.

Ghana will host the first major stakeholder meeting for the Sixth Africa Sustainability Report and Think Energy SDGs Awards on August 28 in Accra.

The gathering, spearheaded by the Minister of State for Climate Change and Sustainability alongside the newly formed Association of African Sustainability Practitioners (AASuP), aims to turbocharge the continent’s race against the 2030 SDG deadline.

Policymakers, bankers, energy executives, and global agencies will draft Africa’s blueprint for November’s COP30 in Brazil. Central to talks: unlocking a slice of the world’s $40 trillion sustainable finance pool. “Africa’s struggled to access these funds due to capacity gaps,” admits an organizer. “We’re creating frameworks to turn pledges into bankable projects.”

The event formally launches AASuP—Africa’s largest sustainability practitioner network—to bridge the divide between climate policies and on-ground implementation. Its flagship program will retool skills across ministries, universities, and private firms, addressing what insiders call a “critical disconnect” in climate action.

Awards will spotlight standout SDG contributions, but the real prize is tangible progress. As one participant notes, “Talk won’t cool the planet. We need deals that deliver clean energy and jobs.”

The Accra talks set the tone for October’s flagship report and awards at Movenpick Hotel—where Africa’s green ambition meets accountability.

Salah (L) questioned UEFA over Suleiman's death Salah (L) questioned UEFA over Suleiman’s death

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah has come under fire from Israeli netizens after questioning UEFA’s tribute to Palestinian football legend Suleiman al-Obeid, who was reportedly killed by Israeli forces while seeking humanitarian aid in Gaza.

UEFA posted on X mourning Obeid, known as the “Palestinian Pele”, describing him as “a talent who gave hope to countless children.”

Salah responded with a pointed question: “Can you tell us how he died, where, and why?”

According to the Palestine Football Association (PFA), Obeid, 41, was fatally shot in the southern Gaza Strip on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, as he queued for aid.

He played 24 matches for Palestine, scored over 100 career goals with local clubs, and leaves behind a wife and five children.

Israeli settlers and users accused Salah of implying that Israel was responsible for Obeid’s death, and expressed outrage that he did not issue a similar statement when Israeli footballer Lior Asulin was killed during the Hamas-led October 7, 2023, attacks.

Some demanded UEFA post a tribute to Asulin as it did for Obeid.

The backlash comes amid Salah’s history of advocating for Gaza; in October 2023, he urged world leaders to ensure humanitarian aid reached civilians to “prevent further slaughter of innocent souls.”

Israeli military spokesperson Lt. Col. Nadav Shoshani responded to Salah on X, claiming no initial records of Obeid’s death existed and requesting more details.

The PFA says Obeid’s killing raises the toll of Palestinian athletes lost in the ongoing conflict to 662.

Ivory Coast protesters demand inclusion of opposition leaders in presidential race

Waving Ivory Coast’s national flag, protesters brandish a banner of PPA-CI leader Laurent Gbagbo Waving Ivory Coast’s national flag, protesters brandish a banner of PPA-CI leader Laurent Gbagbo

Thousands flooded the streets of Abidjan on Saturday, rallying against the exclusion of key opposition figures from Ivory Coast’s October presidential election.

The demonstration, according to an AP report, began in Yopougon, one of the capital’s most crowded suburbs, with banners declaring, “Enough is enough!” and “No true democracy without true justice.” Protesters voiced outrage over the electoral commission’s earlier decision to bar four major opposition leaders, among them former President Laurent Gbagbo and ex-Credit Suisse CEO Tidjane Thiam, from the race.

Gbagbo and Thiam, who formed an alliance earlier this year to challenge 83-year-old President Alassane Ouattara, have become the rallying point for dissent. “We are millions saying YES to Gbagbo and Thiam,” read another placard held high in the crowd.

'We Need A Quiet Winner, Not A Loud Loser’ – Bawumia’s Camp Fires Back At ‘Weak’ Claims

0

Spokesperson for Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s 2024 presidential campaign, Dennis Miracles Aboagye, has hit back at claims from Kennedy Agyapong’s camp, revealing that the NPP vice-presidential candidate is “too weak” to lead the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in 2028 as reported by ModernGhana.

This response follows comments from Agyapong’s campaign spokesperson, Kwasi Kwarteng, who argued that Bawumia’s performance in the 2024 elections did not warrant a second chance as the party’s flagbearer.

Kwarteng, in a social media post on August 10, suggested that Bawumia’s 2024 election results a total of 4.65 million votes were insufficient, citing the NPP’s historical preference for fresh candidates.

He pointed out that the party has historically favored candidates whose first attempts brought in stronger support.

Miracles Aboagye swiftly responded, calling these claims “a cherry-picked, context-free distortion of facts.”

He contended that Dr. Bawumia’s performance should not be judged by mere numbers but by the extraordinary political and economic challenges that shaped the 2024 election.

According to Aboagye, Bawumia’s ability to secure nearly 4.7 million votes in the face of adversity speaks to his electability and resilience. “The NPP rewards resilience, not just raw numbers,” Aboagye added.

Aboagye also took aim at Agyapong’s campaign strategy, describing the Member of Parliament for Assin Central as “a loose cannon” whose approach is based on “insults and threats.”

He warned that Agyapong’s combative style could harm the party’s chances in the 2028 election, stressing that a unifying leader is essential.

The NPP is set to elect their flagbearer for 2028 on January 31, 2026.

Lovely Gown Designs Fashionable Moms Can Sew With Any Fabric

0

Mummy-inspired fashion is no longer just a quirky nod to history or Halloween—it has become a striking trend in contemporary haute couture. Today’s designers are reimagining the mystique and allure of ancient mummies with modern flair, resulting in captivating gown styles that are both edgy and elegant. Fortunately, you don’t have to be wrapped in actual bandages to channel this aesthetic. The key lies in subtle design elements—like draping, layering, and texture—that evoke the timeless essence of the mummy look.

Whether you’re headed to a glamorous gala, a red carpet event, or simply want to elevate your evening wardrobe, mummy-inspired gowns offer a unique blend of drama and sophistication. These gowns often feature flowing fabrics such as chiffon, satin, or organza, which create soft yet structured silhouettes reminiscent of ancient wraps.

For a bold statement, opt for a full-length gown with detailed pleating or ruched fabric that mimics the intricate wrapping of a mummy. Add some edge by pairing it with chunky metallic jewelry, a bold clutch, and strappy heels. If you prefer a more relaxed interpretation, consider a midi dress with asymmetrical hemlines, uneven textures, or layered panels that still nod to the theme without overwhelming the look.

What makes mummy-inspired gowns truly captivating is their ability to balance eerie elegance with modern sensuality. Far from being outdated, these designs speak to a fearless sense of style that dares to be different.

So, if you’re looking to stand out and embrace a fashion-forward approach, consider stepping into the world of mummy-inspired gowns.

My Prophecy About Black Sherif Hasn’t Changed-Prophet

Black Sherif

One Prophet Ogya has maintained that his prophecy about musician Black Sherif that he would no longer produce hit songs remains valid.

On December 31, 2024, during a watch night service, the prophet told his congregation that God had revealed to him that Black Sherif’s music career would face a decline due to opposition from within the music industry.

In the months that followed, however, Black Sherif released a hit single and his Iron Boy album, which has topped charts across streaming platforms and gained widespread popularity both in Ghana and abroad.

Speaking on radio on Friday, Prophet Ogya said the prophecy was “still hanging in the air” despite the artiste’s current success. He explained that some prophecies take time to manifest and that prophets often face mockery or disrespect when predictions are not immediately fulfilled.

He noted that many people have labelled him a fake prophet because Black Sherif’s career appears to be flourishing. Nonetheless, he insists that something will eventually happen to make the musician “unheard of” unless he seeks guidance from powerful men of God.

“The reason some preachers avoid sharing certain prophecies is that, if there’s an imminent incident they could pray against, many Ghanaians, especially the youth do not respect the prophetic ministry. My prophecy about Black Sherif has not changed; it is still in place. I advised him that if he wanted to remain popular, he should seek spiritual guidance,” the Prophet stated

NPP to abstain from Tamale Central Parliamentary by-election

0

Accra, Aug. 11, GNA – The New Patriotic Party (NPP) will not participate in the Tamale Central Parliamentary by-election for a replacement of the late Dr Murtala Muhammad, the Member of Parliament (MP) of the Constituency.

Dr Muhammad was among the eight Ghanaians who lost their lives in the tragic helicopter crash at Adansi in the Ashanti Region last Wednesday, while on their way for a national assignment at Obuasi on August 6, 2025.

A statement issued and signed by Mr Justin Kodua Frimpong, the General Secretary, NPP, said the decision was taken at a National Steering Committee meeting held on Monday, August 11.

The statement said the Party considered many factors, including the circumstances under which the seat became vacant and that it would be inhumane to participate in the election.

“The NPP is of the belief that it would be inhumane and unconscionable to subject the nation to a competitive process in search of a replacement for the departed MP,” it said.

“The Party believes that the tension and acrimony often associated with the conduct of by-elections in the country should be avoided.”

The NPP said the greatest tribute that the Party and the rest of the nation could pay in honour of the departed was not only to win the fight against illegal mining but also to ensure a smooth and peaceful replacement for the good people of Tamale Central.

“Consequently, the NPP, hereby, announces that when the Electoral Commission of Ghana opens nominations for the Tamale Central by-election in line with Article 12 (5) of Ghana’s Constitution, the Party will, in accord with the national interest, not take part in the contest,” the statement said.
