“If your transportation is more than your salary you must tell your HR to talk to management to help. It’s a must to consult management else you will turn out to be a thief or a liar,” he said.
He added that, “Never be in a position whereby you spend more than you receive. If you receive tips from your bosses then obviously you can depend on those tips to cater for your transportation but, if your transportation is more than your salary then it’s either you ask for an increment or resign.”

Spanish model, Georgina Rodriguez has popped up on social media trends after she announced her engagement to Cristiano Ronaldo, the father of her children to her over 60 million followers on Instagram on Monday, August 11, 2025.
Georgina Rodriguez and Cristiano Ronaldo have been together since 2016 and have 5 children (2 together) but they have constantly been bombarded with questions about when they were going to tie the knot after being together for close to a decade.
She posted her engagement on Instagram, sharing a photo of her hand adorned with a sparkling diamond ring alongside another hand believed to be Ronaldo’s and captioned it: “Yes, I do. In this and in all my lives.”
Today we delve into Georgina Rodriguez’s story and her rise to fame.
From a girl who wanted to be a professional dancer as a child but had to give up that dream because her family was too poor to enroll her into a dance school, Georgina Rodriguez has now risen to the very top of the fashion industry because of a single encounter with a stranger in a Gucci shop where she used to work as an assistant in 2016.
Cristiano Ronaldo and Georgina Rodríguez announce engagement
From her own Netflix series titled “I am Georgina”, she revealed that life was very difficult financially until she met the love of her life, Cristiano Ronaldo.
She revealed in her Netflix series that she was so broke that she ended up living in a flat that used to be a storage room because she couldn’t afford the rent in Madrid.
This according to her was around the time she was working as a Gucci shop assistant in Serrano, a street in Madrid famous for its handbag shops until the day the football icon walked into her shop.
She told Grazia that she was very “shy” around him but explained it was love at first sight for the both of them. A few days later they met again at a Dolce & Gabbana event where they could be more relaxed and started chatting.
She was later fired from her job after her relationship with Ronaldo became public. According to The Sun, Georgina’s bosses fired her because they thought the attention of fans would put off paying customers from entering the store.
From a girl who was unknown to the media and social media, Georgina instantly became famous after her relationship became public and fashion brands started chasing her for modelling gigs.
She started working with brands like Yamamay and Sheglam as a model and with a 29.3 million followers in 2021, she launched her own clothing line, OM by G.
On January 27, 2022, the fame of Georgina Rodriguez went to a different level after her debut series on Netflix titled “I Am Georgina” was released.
The series gave deeper insight into how she captured Ronaldo’s heart, and how she has made her own way in life, carving out a career for herself, despite her poor background.
Georgina Rodriguez now has an estimated net worth of $15 million, thanks to her successful modeling career, business ventures, and social media influence while her fiancée Ronaldo is worth $1.2 billion.

Residents of Abura Abaka in the Abura Aseibu Kwamankese District of Ghana’s Central Region are urgently appealing to President John Dramani Mahama to complete a Community-based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compound that has been left unfinished for over a decade.
The abandoned facility which was intended to serve Abura Abaka, Odumekyir, Edumfa, Egyirkrom and surrounding communities has been stalled since 2014. For years health services in the area have been operating from a single-room shop donated by a generous resident. Sadly, the benefactor has since passed away and his family has requested that the temporary clinic vacate the space.
According to residents, the CHPS compound project began in 2014 under the former Member of Parliament for the Abura Aseibu Kwamankese constituency, Hon. Anthony Christian Dadzie. However, after he lost his parliamentary seat in 2016, construction came to a standstill.
The building is reportedly at its final stage requiring only finishing works and the installation of medical equipment. Despite this it remains abandoned and overrun with weeds. Current Situation of the Abura Abaka CHPS Zone
During a visit to the temporary CHPS location, mrwoode.com interviewed some staff members who spoke on condition of anonymity. They explained that operating from a small shop without on-site accommodation has forced them to limit their services to daytime hours, from 7:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.
They added that in emergency situations at night, they are compelled to walk alone from their homes to the clinic putting their personal safety at risk and delaying urgent medical care.
On August 11, 2025, a team from mrwoode.com visited the office of Hon. Daniel Mensah Wardy the District Chief Executive (DCE) to seek clarification on the reasons behind the delay and to find out when the project might be completed. However, the DCE was reportedly unavailable. His secretary informed the team that he was not in the office and declined to provide contact information. The team waited until 5:00 p.m., but he did not return.
The people of Abura Abaka are calling on authorities particularly President Mahama and the relevant government agencies to ensure the completion of the CHPS compound. They believe that finishing the facility will guarantee uninterrupted healthcare services, improve response to emergencies and address the pressing health needs of their growing population.

A former President of the Ghana Catholic Bishops’ Conference and Bishop Emeritus of the Konongo-Mampong Catholic Diocese, Most Rev. Joseph Osei Bonsu, has advised clergy and prophets in Ghana to exercise restraint when delivering prophecies.
His call follows a directive from the Presidential Envoy for the Interfaith and Ecumenical Relations Office, Elvis Afriyie Ankrah, issued on Sunday, August 10, 2025, that any prophecy or spiritual insight concerning high-profile political leaders, governance, national security, or public stability should be formally submitted for urgent assessment.
The directive comes in the wake of viral videos on social media following the August 6 helicopter crash that claimed eight lives, including two cabinet ministers.
Speaking to Citi News on Monday, August 11, 2025, Most Rev. Osei Bonsu stressed that prophets should be discreet and sensitive, particularly when sharing revelations with potentially negative implications.
“If God has revealed something to you, find the right way to go about it. My concern is that these days, most prophecies focus on death or disaster. In the Old Testament, prophets were sent to preach God’s word and guide people to do what is right — they did not constantly prophesy doom and gloom. Our prophets should learn from that,” he said.
Meanwhile, Mr. Afriyie Ankrah clarified that while the government will not arrest any ‘man of God’ who defies the directive, prophets and spiritual leaders who ignore it will face public scrutiny.
“There is nothing like an arrest when they defy the directive, but society will judge them if they don’t obey. They used to complain that they did not have access to victims, and now they have been given that access,” he noted.

The victims’ remains were received in Accra in a solemn ceremony, with many Ghanaians expressing sympathy and honouring the fallen leaders.

Election Watch Ghana has formally requested the Electoral Commission postpone the September 2 by-elections in Akwatia, citing the recent helicopter crash that claimed eight lives.
The August 6 tragedy in Adansi-Akrofuom included Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, the National Democratic Congress’ Director of Elections and IT, who served on the EC’s Inter-Party Advisory Committee (IPAC).
The group argues the loss of such a pivotal figure warrants a brief delay under the EC’s discretionary powers. In a Monday statement, conveners Mark Ewusi Arkoh and Jude Balma emphasized Article 296 of Ghana’s Constitution, which mandates fair exercise of authority, and Section 13 of the Elections Act, allowing timeline adjustments for unforeseen circumstances. They contend postponement would honor Dr. Boamah’s legacy while ensuring fairness for the NDC to regroup.
Election Watch further called for an emergency IPAC meeting to discuss options, stressing that deferral would reinforce electoral impartiality. The by-election was triggered by the death of MP Ernest Kumi after a short illness. The EC has not yet responded to the appeal.

Speaking on The Point of View on Monday, August 11, 2025, Mr. Ablakwa said the nation lost a visionary leader who could have significantly transformed Ghana’s fight against the illegal mining menace.
“We have really lost people who had so much prospects, could have really changed the destiny of our country,” he said. “Look, I have no doubt that Dr. Omane Boamah would have solved this galamsey crisis.”
He recalled private conversations with the late Defence Minister, who was resolute in his decision to deploy troops without compromise.
“He told me, ‘Look, the Military will be deployed, I’m deploying them. I’m getting calls — sometimes he will show you who is calling — and it could be National Executive, Regional Executive. I’m not minding you. I’m not going to engage in any pretense. What we do in private is different from what we’re telling the public, No! These troops are in harm’s way, risking their lives and you want us to cut political deals? No, I won’t be part of that.’”
Mr. Ablakwa added that Dr. Omane Boamah had conveyed this stance clearly to President Mahama, who gave his full blessings.
“President Mahama said, ‘Look, you have my full blessings, go ahead!’” he said.

A 26-year-old farmer has been remanded into prison custody by the Nkawie Circuit Court in the Atwima Nwabiagya South Municipality of the Ashanti Region for stealing ginger at Gyankobaa near Nkawie.
Kwame Alugu, alias Jansarah, pleaded not guilty and will reappear before the court presided over by Robert Addo on August 22, this year.
Police Detective Chief Inspector Ntim Boadu, prosecuting, told the court that the complainant, Regina Agyei, had a ginger farm at Gyankobaa, where Alugu resided.
On May 26, this year, at about 1500 hours, the complainant went to the farm and met Alugu, who had harvested half a bag of the ginger valued at GH¢2,000.
Prosecution explained that the complainant managed to convince Alugu to carry the ginger home for both of them to sell and share the money, and he agreed.
On their way, the complainant called someone, started narrating what had happened on the farm, and Alugu, sensing danger, bolted with the ginger.
A report was therefore made to the Toase Police.
On August 6, he was arrested in another theft case, and the complainant went to the police station and identified him as the one who stole her ginger.
Alugu admitted in his caution statement and told the police that he sold the ginger to someone at Gyankobaa, but failed to identify the alleged buyer.
After further investigations, he was charged and brought before the court.

Commercial banks cemented their dominance in Ghana’s credit bureau activity in 2024, conducting 13.52 million searches, according to the Bank of Ghana’s latest Credit Reporting Activity Report.
This represented an 84.93 percent of total enquiries compared to the 77.38 percent recorded the previous year.
In contrast, the share of microfinance and microcredit institutions fell to 8.82% from 11.0% in 2023.
Per the data, savings and loan companies, as well as other institutions, recorded fewer searches than in the previous year.
The report attributes the overall rise in credit bureau activity to a surge in digital lending and stronger compliance with data submission requirements.
Overall, financial institutions and authorised users conducted 29.5 million credit bureau searches in 2024, more than double the 13.7 million recorded in 2023.
The monthly average climbed to 2.46 million, representing a 16.24% increase year-on-year.
Individuals accounted for 55% of all searches, while 44% targeted digital loan customers—underscoring the growing influence of fintech-driven lending in Ghana’s credit market.
The report also noted a 190% jump in loan data submissions, with credit bureaus receiving an average of 61.1 million records monthly.
Nearly all submissions (99.7%) were linked to individual borrowers, reflecting the expansion of digital credit.
Total credit information search surges
Overall, credit information enquiries on Ghana’s credit reference bureau databases surged to nearly 30 million in 2024, more than double the 13 million recorded in 2023.
Monthly averages rose 16.24% to 2.46 million from 2.11 million in 2023, reflecting greater reliance on credit histories for loan approvals, recoveries, and Know Your Customer (KYC) checks.
The report also highlights the growing role of digital lending. Individuals accounted for 55% of all searches, while 44% were linked to digital loan customers, underlining fintechs’ expanding footprint in Ghana’s credit market.
Loan data submissions soared as well, averaging 61 million records per month – a 190.33% increase from 21 million in 2023.
Almost all submissions (99.7%) related to individual borrowers, driven by the rapid growth of digital lending platforms.

The Government of the Republic of Ghana has signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Bengaluru-based Posspole Pvt Ltd to accelerate agricultural modernisation, rural infrastructure development, and electronics manufacturing in West Africa.
A media statement said that the agreement was signed between Peter Boamah Otokunor, Minister and Presidential Advisor for Agriculture and Agribusiness, Republic of Ghana, representing the Government of Ghana, and Kiran Rudrappa, CEO of Posspole Pvt Ltd, during the Minister’s visit to the company’s facilities in India.
The MoU will enable collaboration on product co-development, localised manufacturing in Ghana, and deployment of smart agri-tech solutions. Key focus areas include container-based modular farm housing, solar-powered irrigation systems and precision agriculture using drones, among others.
Under the first phase, scheduled for August-September 2025, both parties will finalise execution strategies. Pilot projects will begin in October, including agri-drone field trials in select Ghanaian regions. The third phase, post-November 2026, will target full-scale product deployment, regional exports, and ecosystem scaling.
It said that the partnership will prioritise smart agri-infrastructure, solar-powered irrigation, cold storage, farm housing, food packaging, and agribusiness logistics. It will be implemented under a public-private partnership model, combining co-investment in local manufacturing, PPP-led rural infrastructure projects, and joint centres of excellence for skill development and technology transfer.
Quoting Rudrappa, the statement said: “This partnership bridges Ghana and India to advance agriculture, grow industries, and build skilled talent. Ghana is on track to be West Africa’s agri-tech and electronics hub, and Posspole is proud to be part of that journey.”
Otokunor said the initiative aligns with Ghana’s ambition to become a manufacturing and innovation hub for West Africa while boosting youth employment and rural productivity. “Access to advanced technology and skills will accelerate Ghana’s agricultural transformation and industrial base,” he said.
Oscar Provencal has called on duty bearers to work towards a more united system
Ghanaian actor, Oscar Provencal has called on duty bearers to work towards a governance system that unites rather than divides the nation.
Speaking in an interview with GBC News in the wake of the recent military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of government officials, military personnel, and party executives, Provencal praised President John Dramani Mahama and his team for the smooth organisation of the state funeral.
He commended the organisers for their swift work within a short period and also described the decision to give the victims a military burial as a good call, noting that the military handled the ceremony professionally.
While acknowledging the good work done, he pointed out inefficiencies in the system, particularly in the initial handling of the crash site.
He said poor management of such sites could compromise forensic investigations, which are crucial in finding out the causes of such accidents.
Provencal expressed concern over the public’s rush to accident scenes to take pictures and videos, especially in the age of social media, where such content goes viral within seconds.
He urged the public to delete disturbing footage and praised responsible media outlets for their coverage.
However, he urged journalists to reflect on their reporting, stressing the need for sensitivity towards grieving families and capacity building in media practices.
He added that tragedy, which led to the demise of eight gallant men as well as the road accident that killed 15 people should serve as a wake-up call to fix weaknesses in the system.
Provencal stressed that unity should not only come from tragedy, adding that Ghanaians must live in peace, free from hatred and bitterness, regardless of political, religious, or ethnic differences.
“At the end of the day, politics should not divide us but unite us,” he stressed.

The Executive Director of Peace Watch Ghana, Madam Nyankonpa Daniels, is calling for a thorough investigation into the recent military helicopter crash, suggesting the possibility of sabotage.
Her demand follows the death of Defence Minister Dr Omane Boamah, who was reportedly investigating the disappearance of military ammunition.
According to Madam Daniels, the circumstances surrounding the crash “do not sound right,” and she believes authorities should “leave no stone unturned.”
She speculates that individuals within the military command may have orchestrated the crash to prevent the ongoing probe into the missing ammunition from becoming public.
Dr Boamah had confirmed in July 2025 that an investigation was underway into the transfer of military ammunition to the National Security Secretariat in 2024, which had gone unaccounted for.
He also revealed that the theft of ammunition had been discovered prior to the 2024 general elections. Daniels believes these investigations may have motivated some individuals to “tamper with” the helicopter.
Furthermore, she suggests that the removal of top military officers after the current government took office may have angered some, potentially leading to an act of revenge.
She emphasised the need for a non-political investigation, warning that politicising security agencies “exposes ourselves to danger.”
“I have been crying, asking questions, and speaking to myself, demanding answers,” Daniels said.
“The truth of the matter is that the helicopter crash must be investigated thoroughly. The two political parties, the NDC and the NPP, keep playing politics with our security agencies, especially the military and the police. I was alarmed when I heard some senior military officers had been removed.
“Some people are evil and will pat you on the back while plotting revenge. I am only expressing an opinion, so nobody should misconstrue what I am saying. If we take over government and do these things, we expose ourselves to danger.”
She continued, “For me, I suspect the plane may have been tampered with. All these prophets kept mentioning Omane Boamah, and the event he and the others were travelling to attend took long to plan, so some people may have taken the opportunity to tamper with the helicopter.
“He was investigating the missing ammunition at the GAF, a situation that may not have gone well with some people, so they took the opportunity to interfere with the aircraft.
“Omane Boamah was the Defence Minister and may have been blamed for supporting the President in removing them. Something may have gone on, and we want the investigation to be thoroughly done to reveal the true cause of the crash.”
Ghana international Abdul Fatawu Issahaku is not in a hurry to leave Leicester City despite the strong interest from English Premier League outfit Everton.
The young winger endured a tough 2024/25 campaign due to an ACL injury but has now returned to full fitness and is ready to make an impact again.
Fatawu lit up the Championship in 2023/24, scoring six goals and delivering 13 assists in 40 matches.
His flair and creativity were key in Leicester’s promotion push, earning him a permanent move after a successful loan spell.
On 1 July 2024, Leicester activated his buy clause and secured him for €10 million on a five-year deal, with an additional €7 million fee included.
Meanwhile, watch below the trailer for GhanaWeb’s upcoming documentary on teenage girls and how fish is stealing their futures:
Despite his major injury setback last season, Abdul Fatawu Issahaku is highly valued at Leicester City.
Amid the interest from Everton in the past week, sources have indicated that Issahaku remains committed to the English Championship side.
Leicester City are happy to keep the forward, but may be tempted to sanction his transfer if they receive a huge offer from the Premier League side.
For now, Issahaku remains a key member of the Leicester team and will be crucial in the 2025/26 campaign as the team pushes for a return to the top flight.
Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission, Dr. Nii Moi Thompson, has urged the government to tackle illegal mining ruthlessly following the helicopter crash, which claimed eight lives.
While sharing fond memories of the victims after signing the book of condolences at the NDC headquarters, Dr. Nii Moi Thompson stressed that the best tribute the government and Ghana as a whole can pay to the deceased would be to eliminate illegal mining.
Speaking to Channel One News on Monday, August 11, he said, “We shouldn’t let their deaths go in vain. They were flying there as part of an effort to fight galamsey, and so perhaps the most fitting tribute to their memory is that we manage to decapitate the galamsey monster.
“We shouldn’t share crocodile tears; we should work hard and make sure that their death doesn’t go in vain.”
This call comes in the aftermath of the August 6 military helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, which claimed the lives of Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah; Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed; Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Muniru Mohammed; former parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye; and NDC Vice Chairman Samuel Sarpong.

Dr. Omane Boamah and seven others lost their lives in the August 6 helicopter crash.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s The Point of View with Bernard Avle on Monday, August 11, Prof. Kpessa-Whyte described Dr. Omane Boamah as a leader who cared deeply about alleviating the suffering of others.
“I think he would want us to reflect on his values, which include being very compassionate, and he cared deeply about suffering people. He was someone who was deeply caring and compassionate, and if we can find a way to magnify that value and be compassionate to the needs of many people in the country. Whenever his soul and spirit are, he will smile,” he urged.
The crash claimed the lives of eight people, including Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, former parliamentary candidate, Samuel Aboagye, and National Democratic Congress (NDC) Vice Chairman, Samuel Sarpong, and Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator.

A state funeral for the victims will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Black Star Square in Accra.
The aircraft departed Accra at 09:12 local time (GMT) and was heading to Obuasi for an anti-illegal mining event. Its disappearance triggered an immediate search-and-rescue operation, which later confirmed that all eight people aboard had died.

The award-winning Master of Business Creation (MBC) program graduated the first cohort of international founders through the new MBC Global option this month at a celebration in Ghana.
The founders enrolled from countries across Africa and grew their businesses with support from applied curriculum, personal mentorship, marketing support, and more.
An estimated 18 founders are expected to graduate from the program in the inaugural cohort. The exact number will be determined following a final records review.
“The graduation celebration in Ghana is a great accomplishment for the African founders and the MBC program,” said Jeff Davis, the newly appointed director of all options of the MBC program globally.
“The founders gained the skills and confidence they needed to scale their incredible businesses. At the same time, the MBC program learned what it takes to offer a world-class program and is positioned for continued growth around the world.”
The MBC program is expected to expand to Europe next, with founders from that region projected to enrol in fall 2026.
Anyone interested in enrolling in MBC Global can apply and request information on the program website to be notified of expanding program options. Expansion to a global program began following years of growth in the U.S.
The MBC program was first introduced in 2019 as a first-of-its-kind program, and over 200 founders have enrolled in the program since then.
It matches the best of a business accelerator with a top-ranked university graduate degree to provide entrepreneurs with the information and resources they need to grow and scale their companies.
The program is offered in partnership with the Department of Entrepreneurship & Strategy and Lassonde Entrepreneur Institute at the Eccles School of Business.
The MBC Global program features all the core elements of the successful U.S. program.
The founders in the global program will have access to one-on-one mentorship from experienced entrepreneurs in their location, an applied and highly relevant curriculum, networking opportunities and more.
They will also join a growing, international network of MBC alumni, founders, faculty and mentors.
Residents in the U.S. can enrol in two formats of the MBC program. They can enrol online in a flexible, three-semester format or an in-person, full-time, two-semester option.
The MBC Global option is offered online, and founders join a cohort with other entrepreneurs from their region in a high-touch online offering with extensive peer learning.
“We are proud to be able to offer the world’s leading business accelerator plus a graduate degree for serious entrepreneurs in the U.S. and more and more locations around the world,” Davis said.
“We invite you to learn more about the program, what it can offer you, and stay tuned as we expand to new regions. We are looking for the best founders to grow the program as well as local mentors and coaches to assist their ventures.”
Dr. Bright Vandyke Okyere is one of the founders expected to graduate from the MBC Global program. He enrolled in the program from Ghana to grow Anidaso Eye Centre, a social-health enterprise committed to eliminating avoidable blindness and empowering lives through restored vision.
Okyere called his experience in the MBC program an “eye-opener.” The collaboration has helped shape a content strategy focused on storytelling, highlighting patient journeys, community impact, and the people behind the mission.
“Working one-on-one with the MBC team has been incredibly helpful,” he said. “It’s an eye-opener, and I’m excited about the direction we’re heading with our marketing.”
Jannifer Muthike is another African founder expecting to graduate from the MBC Global program in the inaugural class.
She enrolled for help to scale her business, Dudu Masters, a Kenya-based company that turns organic insect waste into sustainable farming solutions for smallholder farmers across the continent.
“Coming from a scientific background, I found myself a bit unsteady when I first faced the business world,” she said.
“The MBC program helped me with pricing, marketing, and even customer relationship management software.”

Speaking during the Speaker of Parliament’s visit to the family of the late Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Muniru Limuna, Mr. Ayariga reiterated that moments of tragedy should unite the nation rather than divide it.
The Bawku Central legislator described the victims as dedicated patriots whose service to the country should inspire national cohesion.

“We will continue to have memories of these wonderful people. We want to assure their families that we pledge to remain family members even though it is not possible to replace them.
“We will do our best as surviving family members to provide them the care and support that we can afford. We in Parliament will do what we can to remember them.
“A lot of discussions are ongoing on the radio, etc. I just want to assure Ghanaians that in moments like this, let us be united as a country. Helicopter Crash: Bagbin, parliamentary leadership commiserate with family of Alhaji Muniru
The Asanteman Council has set Thursday, August 21, 2025, as the date for the one-week observance of the late Asantehemaa, Nana Konadu Yiadom III.
The solemn rites will take place at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi, drawing royals, chiefs, and mourners from across the Ashanti Region and beyond in accordance with time-honoured Asante customs.
The announcement came during a council meeting at Manhyia Palace on Monday, August 11, marking the first official update since her passing on Thursday, August 7, at the age of 98.
Nana Konadu Yiadom III ascended to the role of Queen Mother in 2017, succeeding her late mother, Nana Afia Kobi Serwaa Ampem II, who died in 2016. Born in 1927 in Benyaade, Kwadaso, she was the eldest of five children. ‘
Before stepping into royal duties, she built her life through catering, farming, and petty trading.
The Kwabenya Circuit Court has sentenced a 58-year-old mason to 10 years’ imprisonment for having sex with his daughter.
Joshua Bledi got his 17-year-old daughter pregnant, who has now given birth. The baby is seven months old.
Charged with incest, Bledi pleaded guilty.
He appealed to the court to have mercy on him, saying the narration by the prosecution was true.
The court convicted Bledi on his on plea and sentenced him to 10 years’ imprisonment, after considering his age, premeditation of the act and the fact that he did not waste the court time by pleading guilty to the offence.
Prosecution, led by Chief Inspector Gershon Togbe Achondo, told the court that the practice was becoming too many in recent times.
Chief Inspector Achondo, therefore, prayed the court to hand down a harsh sentence to serve as deterrent to other like-minded persons as the offence was a cultural abomination.
Chief Inspector Achondo said the complainant was a social welfare worker at the Ga East Hospital.
The victim is a 17-year-old hairdresser apprentice who has a seven-month baby.
Prosecution said Bledi was the father of the victim and a resident of Musuku, Kwabenya in Accra.
Investigation revealed that the victim went to the Ga East Hospital to deliver and had challenges with the payment of her medical bills, the court heard.
Prosecution said the Social Welfare Department at the hospital intervened and her bills were waived.
However, enquiries were made as to who impregnated her and the victim disclosed to the complainant that Bledi was responsible.
Prosecution said the victim further stated that the accused had been having countless sexual intercourse with her since her mother asked her to live with him.
A report was, however, made to the Kwabenya Domestic Violence and Victim’s Support Unit and a Police medical report was issued for the victim to be examined at the hospital, based on which the accused was arrested.
Meanwhile the GNA has learned that the Abuse Relief Corps, a non-profit organisation, has gone to the aid of the victim and the baby.

The weeklong celebration of the festival was on the theme “From Unity and Heritage to Prosperity”.
The festival was climaxed with a durbar of chiefs and people of the two regions.

He urged the people to contribute their quota as well, adding that the fund would be utilized judiciously to promote viable development projects and could create jobs for the people.
He said the festival ought to evolve beyond cultural exhibitions, becoming a platform for resource mobilisation to accelerate regional development.
Nana Ama Kwaakyewaa, the Chief Executive Officer of Bonofie, organisers of Meko Bono festival said the celebration reflected a shared aspiration for strengthening unity and social cohesion.
She said: “What we have witnessed today is exactly what we envisioned, a festival that goes beyond celebration and channels its energy into progressive development.”
Nana Kwakyewaa said she was hopeful that the festival would evolve into an international tourism event, showcasing the region’s unique traditions and to boost cultural tourism and economic activities.
“The festival doesn’t only celebrate the region’s cultural heritage but also educates the younger generation about the customs and values of the Bonos,” Nana Kwakyewaa said.

The singer reflected on Chioma’s quiet entry into his life, which evolved into a vibrant and transformative presence.
“This is the most nervous I’ve ever been. You are my love, my peace. You walked into my life quietly and became the loudest and most beautiful part of it. God sent you to show me what unconditional love feels. We’ve known love only people can dream of, and pain only we can understand, and we are still here. I promise to protect you,” Davido said.

The Miami celebrations reportedly cost a staggering $3.7 million, ranking it among the most extravagant celebrity weddings of the year.

Spain’s women’s national team have parted ways with head coach Montse Tome and named Sonia Bermudez as her replacement.
The Spanish Football Federation said Tome’s contract will not be renewed when it expires on 31 August.
Tome, 43, became Spain’s first female head coach when she was appointed in September 2023, having acted as Jorge Vilda’s assistant until the 44-year-old was sacked amid the Luis Rubiales scandal.
She led the side to victory in the inaugural Women’s Nations League in February 2024, but Spain finished runners-up in the Euros after a penalty shootout defeat by England on 27 July.
The Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) thanked Tome for “her work, professionalism and dedication” but said she will leave her role on 31 August when her deal expires.
Bermudez won nine league titles during a playing career that took her to Rayo Vallecano, Barcelona, Atletico Madrid and Levante.
The 40-year-old played 61 times for Spain and had been head coach of the U23s until her promotion to the senior side.
She captained Spain and competed in the 2015 World Cup, when La Roja finished bottom of their group.

Tome knew her time in charge was likely to end going into Euro 2025, with her contract due to expire this summer and no apparent desire to offer an extension.
Women’s football director Reyes Bellver joined the RFEF in February, and sources in Spain say she made it clear she wanted to make deep and genuine changes to the structure.
After high-profile controversy and incidents involving former federation chief Luis Rubiales and World Cup-winning manager Jorge Vilda, Bellver wanted to create a fresh culture.
However, experts in Spain say the team’s performance at Euro 2025 – reaching the final before losing to England in a penalty shootout – delayed the decision to let Tome go, with some members of the board questioning the sporting justification for change.
A unanimous decision by the board was required, but they eventually agreed, with sources close to the Spanish players admitting Tome did not hold total authority in the dressing room.
Journalists and supporters in Spain are widely in favour of the decision to let Tome go, given that she was assistant manager to Vilda and part of the previously poor culture.
However, there is frustration over the RFEF’s decision to appoint Sonia Bermudez as Tome’s replacement, with some in Spain questioning her lack of experience and the fact that she was also part of the structure, albeit in the youth teams, when Vilda and Rubiales were involved.
Bermudez was a key player for Spain in her career and has had success at youth team level as a coach, so that does bring optimism, while her assistant Iraia Iturregi is experienced and has an impressive CV.
The expectation is that they will take on this highly talented group of players and try to ensure they retain their status as the world’s best at the 2027 Women’s World Cup.

Evans Nimako, Director of Elections for the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has dismissed claims that the party’s decision not to contest the upcoming Tamale Central parliamentary by-election was motivated by fear of defeat.
He said it would be “unnecessary” for the NPP to field a candidate, given the circumstances surrounding the death of the area’s Member of Parliament, Alhaji Hon. Dr. Murtala Mohammed.
The by-election follows the tragic death of Dr. Murtala Muhammed, who was among eight people killed in the August 6 military helicopter crash in Adansi Akrofoum, Ashanti Region. His passing created a vacancy in the Tamale Central seat, necessitating a by-election in line with Article 112(5) of Ghana’s Constitution.
Speaking on Eyewitness News with Umaru Sanda Amadu, on August 11, Mr. Nimako said the NPP’s decision should be commended rather than politicised.
“We lost our dear brothers under very bizarre circumstances. In order to give them a befitting burial and wish them well in their next world, it is not to go through a certain contestation. We’re saying that under the circumstances, there’s no need.
“This principle should be supported by all lovers of democracy in this country. I think you should rather pat the NPP on the back. This gesture by the NPP should rather receive some commendations from lovers of democracy,” he said.
In a statement signed by NPP General Secretary Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party said the decision was taken during a National Steering Committee meeting held on Monday, August 11, 2025, at its national headquarters.
The crash claimed the lives of eight people, including Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, former parliamentary candidate, Samuel Aboagye, and National Democratic Congress (NDC) Vice Chairman, Samuel Sarpong, and Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator.
The crew members who perished were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
The government declared a three-day national mourning period, which included a flower-laying ceremony from August 7 and a memorial service held on August 9.
A state funeral for the victims will be held on Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Black Star Square in Accra.

A 22-year-old man, identified only as Kwame, has been remanded by a court in Koforidua for allegedly robbing and raping a 25-year-old nurse undertaking her National Service.
The victim, who had rented a room in the accused person’s family house a few months ago, was reportedly deceived by the accused into believing that someone was looking for her in front of the Yiadom Hwedie Palace of the New Juabenmanhene.
While she was away, Kwame quickly changed his clothes, put on a mask, and sneaked into her bedroom.
Upon her return, the accused pulled a knife on her and demanded all her money. Out of fear, the victim handed over more than GH¢1,000 in cash. Kwame is said to have further demanded a mobile money transfer, but the victim had no funds in her account.
Under knife-point threat, the accused ordered the victim to undress and forced her into a doggy-style position, after which he sexually assaulted her.
Kwame fled the house immediately after the incident and went into hiding. However, the victim, who was able to identify him despite his attempt to disguise his voice, lodged a complaint at the police station, prompting a search for the suspect.
The accused later appeared at the police station with his father to plead for forgiveness but was immediately arrested.
The traumatized victim, upon seeing him, reportedly went into shock and began jerking. Out of frustration, she allegedly slapped him multiple times.
Police obtained a medical report on the victim, after which Kwame was charged with rape, robbery, threat of death, and threat of causing harm. He has since been remanded by the Koforidua court.
