Physician and former Minister for Communications of Ghana, Dr Edward Omane Boamah’s old post on Facebook educating his followers on safe travels has emerged after Ghana’s military helicopter crash claimed his life.
A Facebook post dated March 14, 2019, of Dr Omane Boamah educating his followers on how to survive a plane crash has gone viral on social media.
Many people have quoted that post and expressed how awed they were that the post related to his experience in the Ghana Air Force crash on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, which unfortunately claimed his life.
The ghastly accident claimed the lives of seven others including Environment, Science and Technology Minister Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed; Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Muniru Mohammed; Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Dr. Samuel Sarpong,
Other victims include, Former Parliamentary Candidate Samuel Aboagye, and the three crew members: Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
In sharing the post, the late Ghanaian politician wrote “FYI”, which is an abbreviation for For Your Information.
In the comment section, many people talked about how the passing of Dr Omane Boamah had affected them emotionally. They talked about how much they would miss his wise words.

Founder and leader of Heaven’s Gate Ministries, Prophet Nicholas Osei, popularly known as Kumchacha, has strongly condemned the wave of prophecies that emerged after the recent military helicopter crash in the Ashanti Region.
Speaking as a guest on United Showbiz, Kumchacha described most of the prophecies surrounding the tragic incident as “nonsense” and unnecessary, stressing that they lacked any logical or spiritual basis.
He cited one particular prophecy from a self-acclaimed prophet in Kumasi, Ashanti Region, who claimed the crash occurred because evangelist Nana Agradaa had been imprisoned warning that more crashes would happen if she was not released.
Kumchacha dismissed such statements outright, calling them baseless and misleading. He cautioned the public against falling for sensational religious claims, noting that tragedies should not be exploited for attention or personal gain.
The respected man of God urged Ghanaians to remain prayerful and discerning, especially in times of national tragedy.

As calls mount for the government to seize the momentum from the recent military helicopter disaster to intensify the fight against illegal mining, the Chief of Abosso in the Western Region, Nana Akwasi Appiah, has appealed to the Lands and Natural Resources Ministry and the Interior Ministry to take swift action against escalating social vices in his community.
Addressing a press conference at Abosso in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality on Sunday, August 10, Nana Akwasi Appiah expressed grave concern over what he described as a “galamsey-infested” environment that is breeding drug abuse, prostitution, and other destructive behaviours among the youth.
He explained that although the government had shut down the community mining programme in the area, a section of the site, popularly known as gangway, had been taken over by unidentified youth engaging in illegal mining activities and promoting harmful social practices.
“Illegal mining at the gangway site is destroying the culture and moral fabric of our youth,” he lamented, urging the government to permanently close the area and restore order.
Abosso, long known as a hub for both large- and small-scale mining, has historically attracted an influx of young people from across the country. However, the chief warned that without urgent intervention, the community risked losing an entire generation to the adverse effects of galamsey-related vices.
Nana Akwasi Appiah dismissed suggestions that his public outcry was politically motivated or that he was acting out of personal loss.
“We have seen that the current government has discontinued Community Mining, and therefore, we want the land to be reverted to us, the owners, and the illegal miners removed.
“We, the traditional leaders of Abosso, tried to have discussions with the current operators of our gangway mining site, but our discussions have not been fruitful.
“So they have to stop the gangway operators because of the drug abuse going on there, including Indian Hemp, Tramol, and red-red, which we, the chiefs, don’t want here.
“We therefore call on the Ministers for Interior and Lands and Natural Resources to help the chiefs stop. The place is infested with fake Rastafarians, which is not good for the town. This will pave the way for the new government proposals to work,” he said.

Ghana’s Ambassador-designate to South Korea, Kojo Choi, has expressed deep sorrow over the tragic loss of eight Ghanaians in the recent helicopter crash.
In an interview with Accra-based TV3, shared via their X account on August 10, 2025, Choi described the incident as a profound loss to the nation.
He revealed that on the morning of August 6, 2025, he had spoken to one of the victims, whose name he did not disclose.
Choi also hinted that the scale of the tragedy could have been even greater, though he did not elaborate on what led him to that belief.
Reflecting on the impact of the loss, he emphasised that the tragedy is particularly painful because Ghana has lost some of its most brilliant leaders and individuals who were actively serving the country at the time of their passing.
“This is different because we have lost the most brilliant leaders who were not only going to change Ghana but also make an impact beyond its borders. This is actually one of the greatest losses Ghana has experienced in decades. I am pretty much coming from the airport; I was on a short mission outside Ghana. I can’t speak much, but I was in touch, I actually spoke with one of them in the morning, and later in the evening, I heard about the crash of the helicopter.
“I trembled because it could have been a much bigger calamity. Even today, what we are seeing is beyond what meets the eye. It came as a great shock,” Choi said.

GOT Foundation, in partnership with Mastercard Foundation and Digital Opportunity Trust (DOT), has launched the Youth Empowerment Project Through Skills Acquisition (YEPSA) Project to empower 65 youth in Accra and Bono East Region.
The YEPSA project is a fully funded initiative to equip economically disadvantaged young individuals particularly school dropouts, teenage mothers, and unemployed groups by enrolling them in hairdressing and beautician skills training and providing start up support for sustainable careers and economic independence.
The fully-funded eighteen-month project, is under the Mastercard Foundation’s Employee Innovation Fund, which supports youth led and indigenous organizations in creating sustainable solutions to critical social and economic challenges. This milestone reflects the shared mission of GOT Foundation, Mastercard Foundation and Digital Opportunity Trust to unlock the potential of Africa’s youth by providing pathways for dignified and fulfilling work.
Launching the YEPSA project at Manhean in Accra on August 9, 2025, GOT Foundation’s Executive Director Jennifer Akologo Nabil, said YEPSA empowers marginalised groups with vocational skills for financial independence.
She stated that beneficiaries get training, mentorship, and some start up support to start businesses and create jobs, “targeting young women and girls aged 15-35 in marginalised Greater Accra and Bono East communities.
“In the Bono East Region, we’ve enrolled 30 participants,” the Executive Director of GOT Foundation, disclosed.
Furthermore, Ms. Akologo Nabil noted that YEPSA seeks to inspire and cultivate entrepreneurship among economically disadvantaged young people.
“It is GOT Foundation’s objective to support economically disadvantaged females, helping transform their state through mentorship, education and employment opportunities” she added.
The Project Officer of DOT, Harriet Setsoafia, charged participants to take ownership, be curious, bold and relentless.
“These skills will open doors and help build your futures,” she added.
DOT, she said, is Canadian-based not-for profit organization, with locally managed offices across 6 countries in Africa and Middle East: Tanzania, Ethiopia, Rwanda, Kenya, Lebanon and Jordan.
DOT also reaches Ghana, Uganda, Côte d’Ivoire, Malawi, and Zambia via local partnerships with youth-led and youth-serving organizations.
“DOT’s youth-led model created impact in over 25 countries over decades, mobilizing underserved youth with digital literacy, 21st-century skills, and self-confidence for the digital economy.
Mastercard Foundation, she said, is also Canadian, one of the world’s largest private foundation with $35 billion assets. Its mission advances financial inclusion and education to improve lives of those living in poverty. Programmes focus on Africa and Canadian Indigenous communities, aiming for 30 million youth to access dignified work by 2030.
Established in 2006 by Mastercard, it operates independently. “To date, programmes have benefitted 146 million people,” she stated.
Beneficiaries speaking to media were elated and commended GOT Foundation and partners.
Elizabeth, a beneficiary, said, “I am excited as this project offers financial independence and enables job creation.”
Another beneficiary, Sarah Domkwawe, stated, “God bless GOT Foundation, Mastercard Foundation and DOT for launching this for marginalised people.”
GOT Foundation is a Ghanaian non-for-profit organisation, founded in 2022 by Jennifer Nabil Akologo. It emerged from her passion to empower girls and women from underprivileged communities via education, skills, mentorship, and social initiatives.

Former Member of Parliament for Tarkwa Nsuaem, George Mireku Duker, has claimed that a wave of hostility directed at him from within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) at the national level is fueled by perceptions of his potential to become President of Ghana.
Speaking to grassroots party supporters at his Tarkwa residence, Duker asserted that certain national-level individuals view him as a threat due to his political prospects and the Western Region’s strategic economic importance.
Unlike his predecessor, Gifty Kusi, whom he described as “only useful for serving food to colleagues in Parliament,” Duker questioned why a prospective leader from Tarkwa should be deemed a political danger.
“Even individuals from Kyebi, Bole, and other places have risen to the presidency. It appears that if you’re from Tarkwa and the Western Region, you automatically become a threat to those nurturing presidential ambitions. I find that deeply unfair,” he said.

A solemn burial ceremony is being held at the Forecourt of the State House for Dr. Ibrahim Muhammed Murtala, former Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, and Alhaji Muniru Limuna Mohammed, former Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator.
The two were among eight people who perished in the August 6 Ghana Air Force helicopter crash in the Adansi-Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region.
In line with Islamic tradition, Janazah prayers are being held, after which interment will follow at the Military Cemetery near Burma Camp.
Dignitaries at the burial service include: President John Dramani Mahama, Vice President Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang, Speaker of Parliament Alban Bagbin, National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osman Nuhu Sharubutu, families of the victims, government officials, Members of Parliament, the Muslim community, and members of the public.
An inter-denominational state funeral for all eight victims is scheduled for Friday, August 15, 2025, at the Black Star Square.
The August 6 helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom district claimed eight lives, including Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence; Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation; Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Samuel Aboagye, former parliamentary candidate; and Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The crew members who perished were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
The Ghana Armed Forces earlier reported that the Z-9 helicopter, carrying three crew members and five passengers, had gone “off the radar” shortly after departure from Accra at 09:12 GMT. The aircraft was en route to Obuasi for an anti-illegal mining operation. A search-and-rescue mission later confirmed that all eight on board had died.

“It’s not the time to put blame and all that stuff, but I think we as Ghanaians should be able to ask better questions, and we need to stop this mediocre stuff that we work with. I believe if everything was checked right, I don’t know all the extra stuff around it.
“I don’t understand why a helicopter carrying top government officials will just crash. If it’s not like someone wanted them to die, that shouldn’t be happening, because whenever I’ve heard anything to do with this stuff in the West, it means some guys were on the plane that had some patent of something, you know, like the Malaysian airliner that disappeared.
“We heard later on that some people were on board who had some patent stuff that was important to other people. Or you hear now that the Titanic, which sank so many years ago, it turns out somebody else had insurance taken on it, and then in the end… do you get what I mean?
“So with these things, it makes me start thinking, wait, is this just fate? What is this? If it’s not connected, then why does this happen? It shouldn’t be happening. And if someone didn’t do some checks and this happened, then we should make sure we raise our standards, and for these things, we should be able to prevent them. It’s such a short journey from here to Obuasi on a chopper to experience that,” Kwame Yeboah stated.

Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh and IGP COP Tetteh Yohuno received the DNA forensic results
The forensic results for the remaining six victims of last week’s military helicopter crash have arrived in Accra on Sunday August 10, 2025, and were formally handed over to Health Minister Kwabena Mintah Akandoh.
The tests, conducted on samples taken from all eight fallen service members, were carried out to confirm their identities and facilitate the release of the bodies to their families.
The samples of the two Muslim victims were prioritised and analysed first. They arrived in the country on Saturday, 9 August 2025, enabling the final Janazah (Islamic funeral) prayers to be held earlier today, Sunday, 10 August 2025, in accordance with Islamic tradition.
Businessman Ibrahim Mahama covered the full cost of the trip to bring the results home was represented at the handover by his special aide, Rafik Mahama.
After receiving the results, Minister Akandoh handed them over to the Inspector-General of Police, COP Tetteh Yohuno for safekeeping.
“We have taken delivery of the final results concerning the remains of our deceased comrades and soldiers to aid in their identification and support ongoing investigations,” he said.
He noted that the development represents a critical step toward providing closure for the bereaved families.

The ill-fated journey was meant to take the delegation to Obuasi for the launch of the Responsible Co-operative Mining and Skills Development Programme (COMSDEP), an initiative aimed at curbing illegal mining.
The helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, claimed the lives of Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, and Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation.
Others confirmed dead were Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Samuel Aboagye, former parliamentary candidate; and Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The crew members who perished were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
Earlier, the Ghana Armed Forces reported that the Z-9 helicopter, carrying three crew members and five passengers, had gone “off the radar.”
The aircraft departed Accra at 09:12 local time (GMT) and was heading to Obuasi for an anti-illegal mining event. Its disappearance triggered an immediate search-and-rescue operation, which later confirmed that all eight people aboard had died.

According to the Ghana Police Service, a coordinated snap check operation led to the arrests across two regions — Greater Accra and Eastern.
The incident occurred at about 12:30 a.m. when officers at the Ablekuma Borkorborkor checkpoint in Accra stopped a green pickup truck carrying three passengers in its open bucket. As the police approached, two of the passengers fled, shouting that they had been attacked by armed men who had hijacked their fuel tanker near Nsawam the previous night.
The driver of the pickup sped off, abandoning the third passenger, who was arrested after a brief chase.
Police said the victims, both tanker drivers from Tema, were handcuffed and transported in the pickup by the suspects until the intervention at the checkpoint. They later confirmed the stolen tanker’s registration as GT 2493–20.
Following this lead, police intelligence led to the arrest of six additional suspects at Asikwa Junction near Bunso in the Eastern Region. Officers there recovered the stolen tanker, another tanker with registration GN 804–13, and a pumping machine believed to have been used to transfer the stolen fuel. A Volkswagen Golf (GW 5185–Z) linked to the suspects was also seized.
All seven suspects are in police custody and will be arraigned. The recovered fuel tankers and other exhibits remain with the police as investigations continue.
The police have assured the public that further action will be taken and that the suspects will face justice for their role in the high-profile robbery.
The Ghana Police Service also commended the officers whose swift response and coordination led to the successful arrests.

The Ghana Police Service says it has made progress in investigating the murder of Stephen King Amoah, the Immigration officer whose burnt body was found in a drain at Ashongman Estates.
Chief Inspector Apewah Achana told the Kaneshie District Court that police had retrieved exhibits linked to the crime, which forensic experts need to examine.
A postmortem has been conducted, but the full report is pending.
He said efforts were ongoing to arrest other accomplices and arraign them, hence the request for an extension of the accused person’s remand.
On July 25, 2025, police arraigned Bright Aweh, also known as Robert or “Highest Bright,” as the prime suspect in Amoah’s murder.
The court preserved his plea after reading the charge.
Amoah went missing on July 3, 2025, after leaving home to visit Aweh at Ashongman Estates in Accra.
His charred body was later discovered in a drain at Aboum Junction, near Kwabenya.
Investigations revealed that the two had arranged a meeting following WhatsApp images showing bundles of cash, allegedly to settle a debt.
Aweh claimed he gave Amoah GHC 500,000 to pay off a debt and keep the balance, but inconsistencies in his account raised suspicion.
Aweh was first arraigned at the Circuit Court in Kwabenya on a charge of kidnapping.
Subsequent investigations at his residence uncovered stained camouflage fabric and a bloodied fufu pestle wrapped in polythene.

They have described the deaths of the eight men as a huge loss to the country and expressed their commiserations to the bereaved families, the government and the State.
In honour of the victims, the NDC in the constituency has scheduled a vigil for Friday, August 8 at London Bridge in Cape Coast.
The devastating crash, which happened near Adanse in the Ashanti Region, claimed the lives of Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence; Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, and Alhaji Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator.
The rest are Dr Samuel Sarpong, Vice‑Chairman of the National Democratic Congress, Mr Samuel Aboagye, former parliamentary candidate, Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala (pilot), Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu (co‑pilot), and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

Mr George Elvis Korankye-Taylor, the Chairman of the party, said the tragic incident was least expected and had crumbled a better of the government machinery.
He paid glowing tribute to Dr Omane Boamah whom he described as a strategist and tactician given his knowledge in and approach to politics.
He recounted his first encounter with the late Defence Minister in 2011 in Sunyani and narrated how they collaborated effectively to secure victory for late President Atta Mills during the party’s congress.
“That was the first time I met Omane Boamah but his relationship with me was perfect; as if he knew me from Adam,” he said.
“Indeed, Omane Boamah and the rest of the executives brought the party to power and they were working to salvage it,” he added.
Mr Korankye-Taylor also shared some fond memories of Dr Murtala Muhammed and Dr Sarpong, describing them as geniuses and perfect gentlemen.
“The NDC and the country as a whole have lost great individuals.
“We cannot bring them back. The harm is already done and all we can say is that we commit their souls into the hands of our Father in heaven,” he said.
Madam Caroline Aboagye Awusi, the NPP Chairperson for the constituency, visibly sombre, could not come to terms with the tragedy.
She said she was sent reeling by the news when she heard it around 1400 hours on Wednesday.
“On behalf of the Cape Coast South Constituency branch of the NPP, we express our condolences to the whole country,” she said.
As great men who died in service to their country, she said they deserved to be honoured in a befitting way, devoid of partisan politics.
Madam Aboagye Awusi recalled the warm reception extended to her by Dr Murtala Muhammed when they met for the first time in 2023 at the University of Cape Coast.
“He was surprised to see a woman chairing a constituency like Cape Coast South and urged me on.
“From that moment, I began to like the man because of his humility,” she recounted.
She encouraged the nation to come together and pray for God’s guidance and protection to avert similar tragedies in the future.

The Member of Parliament for New Juaben South, Michael Kofi Okyere Baafi, has backed President John Dramani Mahama’s proposal to acquire new aircraft for the Ghana Armed Forces.
In an interview with Channel One TV on Sunday, August 10, Mr. Okyere Baafi endorsed the President’s call for a transparent investigation into the recent helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight prominent Ghanaians.
He further argued that the current fleet of military aircraft is outdated and unfit for purpose, making urgent procurement necessary.
“These helicopters and aircraft we have are not so suitable. We have to support the government to get new aircraft as a matter of urgency.”
Mr. Okyere Baafi also voiced concern about how politics continues to divide the nation, urging Ghanaians to put the national interest above partisan lines, especially during times of tragedy.
“Politics has created a lot of mess in the country, and this is the time for us to see this unfortunate incident as a call to place the future of Ghana above politics. I believe this is the time Ghana must forge ahead in unity because politics has destroyed the country.”
His remarks come amid a period of national mourning and growing debate over the state of Ghana’s military assets, following the military helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region that claimed eight lives.
The government declared a three-day national mourning period from Thursday, August 7, which included a flower-laying ceremony. An evening of reflection and memorial service was also held in their honour on Saturday, August 9.
The helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, claimed the lives of Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, and Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation.
Others confirmed dead were Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Samuel Aboagye, former parliamentary candidate; and Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The crew members who perished were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.
Meanwhile, the burial rites for Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation and MP for Tamale Central, and Alhaji Limuna Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, will be held on Sunday, August 10.
In accordance with Islamic tradition, Janazah prayers will take place at 2:00 p.m. at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra, followed by burial at 2:30 p.m. at the Military Cemetery, Accra.

The Book of Condolence for the eight compatriots who died in the GAF Z9 helicopter crash is now open from today, Sunday, August 10 to Thursday, August 14, 2025, at designated locations across the country.
It will be opened simultaneously at the Ministry of Defence, the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, the Ghana Armed Forces Headquarters, the National Democratic Congress headquarters, and the head office of NADMO.
The Paramount Chief of the Lower Axim Traditional Area, Awulae Attibrukusu III, has warned that any Chief under his jurisdiction found to have masterminded illegal mining (galamsey) activities in his traditional area and arrested will automatically abdicate his throne.
He decried the wanton destruction of the land and water bodies, which serve as the main source of livelihoods for the predominantly farming population in the area. Awulae Attibrukusu III gave the warning to chiefs and queen mothers during the Lower Axim Traditional Council meeting in Axim in the Nzema-East Municipality of the Western Region.
According to him, this serves as a final warning to any Chief who is deeply involved in illegal mining activities in their area to cease galamsey activities.
The Paramount Chief, who is the President of the Lower Axim Traditional Council, mentioned specific towns in his jurisdiction where galamsey activities had become rife.
The towns are Awukyire, Kegina, Anagye, Nduabesa, Agona and Edelesuazo. Awulae Attibrukusu III said he had done a lot by reporting Chiefs in those communities to the authorities and would not intervene when they were arrested.
Awulae Attibrukusu III entreated the Traditional Council to rise up and deal ruthlessly with galamsey activities to restore the Council to its former glory.
He questioned the chiefs on how the excavators and Chanfangs passed through their towns before getting to the bushes to undertake galamsey activities.
The Paramount Chief said illegal miners had invaded his rubber plantation in the last few days, destroying a farm he cultivated through his hard-earned resources.
He advised his chiefs and queen mothers to “support the government, and the Lands and Natural Resources Minister, Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, who is a son of the Nzema area, to succeed in the fight against galamsey.
The warning follows the helicopter crash, which occurred in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, claiming the lives of Defence Minister Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Environment Minister Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, and six others, including soldiers. They were en route to a mining event.

Accra – Ghana is stepping up efforts to move households away from firewood and charcoal, which are still used in 78 percent of homes and contribute to deforestation, indoor air pollution and carbon emissions. The government is promoting cleaner cookstoves as a safer, more efficient alternative.
The Clean Cookstove Initiative is focused on cutting wood fuel demand and reducing the health risks linked to smoke inhalation – particularly among women and children. It also aims to help curb climate change and protect forests.
The programme is targeting smallholder farmers and rural households in five regions: Western, Central, Ashanti, Eastern and Upper West. There are plans to extend it to more parts of the country.
The stoves are designed to use around 60 percent less wood than traditional models. They are being developed and distributed in partnership with Envirofit International, a US-based clean energy company.
The project is one of six climate mitigation schemes in Ghana backed by the KliK Foundation, a Swiss organisation that has pledged about $850 million in funding.
Cleaner cooking could save 4.7 million lives in Africa by 2040, IEA says
So far, more than 180,000 families have taken part in the programme. Many have reported saving money on fuel and noticing fewer health problems linked to smoke.
Aminatu Hakim, a mother of six from Pullima near Tumu, in the Upper West Region, says the savings she has made from using the new stove have allowed her to reinvest in her small business.
“I’ve invested the savings in my onion business,” she told RFI. “The proceeds are now supporting my family’s daily needs.”
She described the clean cookstove as fast, efficient and significantly less reliant on charcoal than traditional cooking methods.

The government plans to distribute another 500,000 clean cookstoves over the next three years, with a continued focus on rural and underserved areas.
Across Africa, around four in five people still cook with polluting fuels such as firewood, charcoal and kerosene – often over open flames in poorly ventilated spaces.
The World Bank estimates that this leads to around 600,000 premature deaths each year, making dirty cooking a bigger killer on the continent than malaria.

A Ghanaian pastor has criticised preacher Samuel Henry, popularly known as Prophet Roja, over his prophecy about a flight crash earlier in 2025.
Prophet Roja had claimed that God revealed to him a vision of a domestic flight crash in Ghana.
According to him, the vision showed a plane travelling from Accra to Kumasi that would crash shortly after takeoff on July 29, 2025.
He said the crash in his vision would be severe, with fewer than 20 people surviving. Because of this, he called on Christians in Ghana to pray to avert the disaster.

The employees said they have to persistently to ‘chase the payments’ of their outstanding salaries
Aggrieved employees of Zoomlion, a waste management and sanitation firm, in the Atebubu/Amantin Municipality of the Bono East Region have called on the government to intervene in the payment of their 20-month outstanding monthly salaries.
According to the employees, mostly women, despite their efforts to keep the towns and communities in the district clean, the company has failed to pay their monthly salaries, putting their families through economic difficulties.
Addressing a news conference at Atebubu, the Municipal capital, Madam Alice Osei, the spokesperson for the aggrieved employees, said the situation was even affecting their marriages, as they could no longer contribute to the upkeep of their respective families.
She said the employees had persistently “chase the payments” of their outstanding monthly salaries but to no avail, and appealed for urgent intervention from the government.
Mad Osei, also the Vegetable Queen at the Atebubu Market said: “some of us are also single mothers and we can’t even afford to pay our children’s school fees”.
“In fact, the surest way the company will listen to us and pay our monthly salaries and arrears is for the government to intervene because they have not shown any concern that they are sensitive to our plight”, she stated.
Madam Osei said despite their outstanding salary arrears, the employees still remained at post working to keep the environment clean.

European allies have rallied behind Ukraine in a renewed surge of support, insisting that any peace talks with Russia must include Kyiv.
A joint statement issued by the leaders of the UK, France, Italy, Germany, Poland, Finland and the European Commission came ahead of US President Donald Trump’s meeting with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin in Alaska on Friday.
A White House official has said that Trump is willing to hold a trilateral meeting, which would also include Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky, but, for now, it remains a Trump-Putin summit, as initially requested by the Russian leader.
Zelensky has said any agreements without Kyiv will amount to “dead decisions”.
Trump has previously suggested that he could start by meeting only with Putin, telling reporters he planned to “start with Russia.” But the US president also said that he believed “we have a shot at” organising a trilateral meeting with both Putin and Zelensky.
Whether Putin would agree to this is unclear – he has refused several opportunities to hold direct talks, and the two leaders have not met face-to-face since Putin launched a full-scale invasion of Ukraine more than three years ago.
Speaking on Friday, Trump also suggested that there “will be some swapping of territories” in order for Moscow and Kyiv to reach an agreement, to which Zelensky reacted strongly.
“We will not reward Russia for what it has perpetrated,” he said on Telegram. “Any decisions against us, any decisions without Ukraine, are also decisions against peace.”
“The Russians… still impose the idea of ‘exchanging’ Ukrainian territory for Ukrainian territory, with consequences that guarantee nothing but more convenient positions for the Russians to resume the war,” he added defiantly.
CBS, the BBC’s US media partner, has reported that the White House is trying to sway European allies to accept an agreement that would include Russia taking the entire Donbas region in eastern Ukraine, and keeping the Crimean Peninsula.
The European leaders, in their statement released late on Saturday night, stressed that “international borders must not be changed by force”.
