Love has crossed borders as singer and music executive Mr Eazi has married Temi Otedola, daughter of Nigerian billionaire Femi Otedola, in a white wedding ceremony in Iceland.

According to sources close to the family, Hallgrímskirkja Church in Reykjavík was the venue for their special day.

The church, adorned with flowers, was closed to the public to ensure a private and intimate celebration.

Only close family and friends were present, but the guest list was still star-studded.

Among those who attended were Nigerian comedian Broda Shaggi, Africa’s richest man Aliko Dangote, Temi’s sister DJ Cuppy, and their mother.

Some rare glimpses of the ceremony surfaced online after Broda Shaggi shared clips on his Instagram Story.

One video showed him spending time with Mr Eazi and Aliko Dangote in Iceland, capturing the joyful mood of the occasion.

Mr Eazi and Temi’s relationship has been in the public eye for years. In April 2022, they announced their engagement, with Temi posting a video of the proposal on Instagram.

The couple had previously hinted that they preferred a small and private wedding, and they stayed true to their word.

DVLA vows to take legal action over alleged sale of 37 office

0

Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA)

The Board of the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Authority (DVLA) has accused the previous government of unlawfully selling its former Greater Accra Regional Office land, located behind the Ghana Police Church, to private individuals, despite the site having been compulsorily acquired for a now-defunct public project.

Speaking at a press conference in Accra on Monday, the Board Chairman of the DVLA, George Spencer Quaye, alleged that the land, originally taken over by the state for the proposed “Energy City” initiative, had been sold to private developers after the project failed to materialise.

He described the move as a breach of trust and a violation of the original purpose of the land acquisition.

“We were relocated from this property for a national project, but as we speak, there is no Energy City here. Instead, the land has been sold off to private developers. This is a clear breach of the purpose for which it was taken,” Quaye said.

According to him, part of the land is now being used by a Swiss-owned company as a vehicle warehouse, while other parcels are reportedly being sold at market rates of up to $3 million per acre.

Quaye argued that, under Ghanaian law, land acquired by the government for a specific public purpose must revert to its original owner if that purpose is not fulfilled, stressing that the continued sale and private use of the property violates both legal and ethical standards.

The Chief Executive Officer of the DVLA, Julius Neequaye Kotey, also condemned the actions of the previous administration, calling them a betrayal of public trust.

“This land still belongs to DVLA. If the Energy City project failed, the land should have been returned to us — not sold off,” he stated.

MKotey further revealed that the DVLA’s current regional office at Haatso-Bohye, where it was relocated after the original land acquisition, is not registered in the Authority’s name. A land title search, he said, shows the property belongs to a private developer, Unique Development Groups, rather than the government or DVLA.

“We are now occupying land that doesn’t belong to us and are expected to pay the private owner for using it. Meanwhile, our own land has been given away,” he lamented.

He added that the current site poses significant operational challenges due to traffic congestion, which discourages customers and affects the Authority’s revenue.

Kotey pledged that the DVLA Board would pursue legal and administrative remedies, announcing plans to petition the Attorney General, the Office of the Special Prosecutor, and the National Security Secretariat.

“We will not relent until this land is returned to DVLA,” he vowed. “We are committed to building a proper public office that serves the Ghanaian people, not watching as public property is handed over for private profit. We will not defend the mistakes of the past, but we will do everything necessary to correct them.”

Jeremy Doku proposes to his girlfriend in Dubai after Ghana visit [Video]

Manchester City star Jeremy Doku has proposed to his girlfriend just before the start of the new season. The Belgian international of Ghanaian descent is looking to wed his girlfriend, Shireen Erin Lyannda Raymond.

In a video shared on his social media page and re-shared by Pulse Ghana, Shireen was visibly surprised by the proposal as they walked up to a beautiful decoration made with flowers and candles.

The soon-to-be couple both donned all-white outfits as they immersed themselves in the moment. Shireen, pleasantly surprised by the whole glitz and glam, asked Doku if he was serious, and he assured her of his decision to marry her.

The 23-year-old confidently told her:

You’re my girlfriend, but I don’t want you to stay my girlfriend. I want you to be my future wife.

Where did you get this from? I’m actually shaking. Where did this come from?

However, before she could fully realise what was happening, Doku kneeled, opened a box containing a beautiful ring, and popped the golden question while mentioning her full name.

Shireen answered in the affirmative. Doku put the ring on her finger, and they kissed.

Jeremy Doku chills in Ghana

Doku recently travelled back to his family’s homeland of Ghana for a touching visit to Madina, where he gave back to the community that means so much to his heritage.

On Monday, July 14, 2025, the winger arrived at his family’s house, catching up with relatives and old neighbours.

The trip wasn’t just about visiting family, though. Doku set up his football tournament called the Jeremy Doku Cup to encourage young local players and show them what’s possible.

While he plays for Belgium’s national team, Doku has never forgotten his Ghanaian roots. He speaks perfect Twi, loves Ghanaian music and food, and says his heritage has made him the person he is today.

Doku, per officials, requested the passport during his time in Ghana, where he undertook a few charity initiatives, met the Asantehene Otumfuo Nana Osei Tutu II, and some government officials.

Flawless and outstanding Ankara designs suitable for special occasions and other events

News Hub Creator5h

Because of their adaptability and ability to be recreated in a variety of ways, Ankara patterns have long been a well-liked option for use in the context of special events and occasions. The versatility of Ankara fabric allows it to be fashioned into any pattern imaginable, from a straightforward and elegant look to one that is elaborate and ornate. This versatility is the source of the fabric’s aesthetic appeal.

With their one-of-a-kind and stunningly gorgeous patterns, Ankara designs have the power to set you apart from the rest of the crowd at important celebrations and events. The floor-length gown is one of the Ankara patterns that is used for formal occasions the most frequently. Because it provides the wearer the impression of royalty and elegance, this style of gown is ideal for formal occasions, such as weddings or parties that need black tie attire. The gown’s use of the Ankara fabric lends it an additional layer of glitz and sophistication, which makes it look even more stunning.

The Aso Ebi style is yet another Ankara design that is appropriate for formal events and gatherings. This look, which is prevalent among Nigerian women, entails dressing in a fabric and ttern that are identical to those worn by other attendees at an event. When done correctly, it is an attractive method to demonstrate solidarity and unity, and it also looks good. The Aso-Ebi fashion can be used to create a wide range of garments, from voluminous and floor-length dresses to chic jumpsuits.

Dresses and skirts made of well-tailored Ankara can nevertheless make a statement, even if the wearer favours a more understated fashion aesthetic. It is possible to create a trendy and elegant style that is ideal for any special occasion by pairing a straightforward Ankara dress or skirt with a number of eye-catching accessories.

How Ghana’s DTI is tackling youth unemployment through TVET

0

In a country where thousands of young people graduate each year into a job market with limited opportunities, Ghana’s Design and Technology Institute (DTI) is providing a bold and practical solution: Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET).

Located in Accra, DTI is redefining education by offering hands-on, industry-relevant training in disciplines such as robotics, welding, and creative arts — skills that align directly with current market demands.

From the Classroom to the Workshop

For students like Frederick Agbedanu and Sanata Zerbo, DTI offers more than just a traditional learning experience. It’s a launchpad into a future built on practical skills, innovation, and entrepreneurship.

“I never imagined I’d be building functional robotic systems,” says Frederick, beaming as he demonstrates one of his class projects. “Here, we don’t just learn theories — we build, we create, and we solve real problems.”

Sanata, one of the few female students in the architecture programme, shared how TVET is empowering her to break barriers in a traditionally male-dominated field.

“I’m learning skills that make me employable and independent. I can start my own business or work anywhere in the world,” she said confidently.

Innovation Meets Opportunity

Behind the scenes, Ebenezer Dadzie, Head of Design and Innovation at DTI, is leading efforts to ensure the institute stays ahead of the curve.

He emphasised the institute’s ongoing investment in modern equipment, tools, and technology to foster a creative environment that supports innovation and entrepreneurship.

“We’ve secured significant funding to expand our facilities and introduce cutting-edge tools. Our students are trained on the same equipment used in global industries,” he said. “This is how we bridge the skills gap — by aligning education with the demands of the workforce.”

Education That Works

Ama Akor, Registrar of DTI, believes that Ghana’s path to reducing youth unemployment lies in embracing TVET as a cornerstone of education reform.

“The narrative around TVET needs to change,” she said. “It’s not a second choice. It’s a smart choice  one that leads directly to jobs, self-employment, and real-world success.”

She added that DTI is also working with industry partners to ensure students graduate with both skills and professional connections.

A Model for the Future

With its strong emphasis on practical learning, innovation, and industry collaboration, DTI is positioning itself as a model for how technical education can address one of Ghana’s most pressing challenges  youth unemployment.

As more young Ghanaians enroll in TVET programs, the hope is clear: build a generation that is not just educated, but employable, adaptable, and entrepreneurial.

In a job market that rewards skills over certificates, DTI is proving that TVET is not the future  it is the present.

Kumchacha explains why he was seen copying tribute in Daddy Lumba’s book of condolence

On July 29, 2025, the family of late Highlife legend Daddy Lumba opened a book of condolence to the public, allowing loved ones to pay their final respects.

Since then, many notable personalities have visited the late singer’s private residence to sign the book and share their memories.

However, a video that surfaced on social media on August 1, 2025, showed Prophet Nicholas Osei, popularly known as Kumchacha, appearing to copy another person’s tribute while attempting to write his own.

In an interview on Onua FM, shared on the station’s social media platforms on August 8, 2025, Kumchacha clarified what actually happened that day.

According to him, it is not wrong to learn from someone who knows more than you, adding that even Ghana learns from other nations.

He explained that when he first opened the book, he mistakenly wrote a message wishing Daddy Lumba a long life, something clearly inappropriate for someone who had passed away.

Kumasi candlelight vigil for Daddy Lumba postponed indefinitely

A person standing nearby corrected him, advising that he should instead write something positive about the late singer.

The man of God added that he had even considered using his thumbprint in the book instead of signing his name because that was what he was most comfortable with.

“In this world, if you don’t know something, you learn. Even in Ghana, we learn from America and the UK. I didn’t even notice I was being recorded. The mistake I made was wishing ‘long live’ in the Book of Condolence for the deceased.

“Someone pointed out to me that we don’t write ‘long live’ for a person who has passed away. They informed me that I should write something good about the person instead. Unfortunately, I couldn’t think of anything positive to write. In the end, I just wrote my name and signed it.

“I even considered using my thumbprint as a signature, but there was no option for that. In fact, I usually stamp with my thumb when I go to the bank,” Kumchacha said.

In a letter dated August 5, 2025, and signed by the Acting Oti Regional Director of Education, Irene Jacquelinda Attabra, the directive was issued to Solomon Bagme following his alleged unauthorised media engagement on August 4, 2025.

During the engagement, he reportedly solicited public support to feed WASSCE candidates at the school without prior approval.

“I am directed by the Director-General of the Ghana Education Service to instruct you to step aside from your duties as Headmaster of Nkwanta Senior High School, Nkwanta South Municipality, with immediate effect.

“This directive follows your alleged unauthorised media engagement on August 4, 2025, during which you reportedly solicited public support for the feeding of students during the ongoing WASSCE without prior approval,” the letter stated.

According to the letter, the headmaster is to cease all official functions and refrain from making public statements on the matter while an independent investigation is conducted.

“You are further required to hand over all school property and administrative responsibilities to the Regional Director of Education immediately, pending the outcome of the investigation,” the letter added.

10 Bible Verses to Bring Comfort to Individuals and Families in Times of Grief

Grief can feel like an overwhelming storm — sudden, unrelenting, and deeply personal. Whether it’s the loss of a loved one, the end of a relationship, or a painful life change, the emotional weight can be hard to bear. For many, turning to the Bible provides not only spiritual comfort but also the reassurance that they are not alone in their suffering.

The Bible offers numerous verses that speak directly to the pain of loss, the promise of God’s presence, and the hope of healing. Below are ten powerful Bible verses that can help both individuals and families navigate the difficult journey of grief.

Bible Verses That Help Deal With Grief

1. Psalm 34:18 – “The Lord is close to the broken-hearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.”

This verse reassures us that in moments of heartbreak, God draws near. It reminds grieving individuals and families that they are not abandoned — God’s presence is especially near when we feel most broken.

2. Matthew 5:4 – “Blessed are those who mourn, for they will be comforted.”

Part of the Beatitudes, this verse is a promise from Jesus Himself that mourning will not last forever. Comfort is not just possible — it is guaranteed to those who grieve, even if it comes in unexpected ways.

3. Revelation 21:4 – “He will wipe every tear from their eyes. There will be no more death or mourning or crying or pain.”

This verse paints a picture of the eternal hope Christians hold — a time when pain, loss, and sorrow will be no more. It’s a reminder for families that grief is temporary compared to the joy promised in eternity.

4. Psalm 147:3 – “He heals the broken-hearted and binds up their wounds.”

This verse presents God as a healer, not just of physical ailments but of emotional pain. It’s a promise of restoration, showing that even deep emotional wounds are not beyond His reach.

5. John 14:27 – “Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives.”

Grief can often bring chaos and unrest to the heart. This verse reminds believers that God’s peace is different — it’s not dependent on circumstances, and it can steady even the most unsettled soul.

6. Isaiah 41:10 – “So do not fear, for I am with you… I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.”

This verse offers strength and courage for those feeling overwhelmed by loss. It assures the grieving that God’s power will sustain them when their own strength is gone.

7. 2 Corinthians 1:3-4 – “The God of all comfort… comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble.”

This passage highlights not only God’s role as the ultimate comforter but also the way grief can shape us to support others. Families who receive comfort in their time of need can later offer the same to others.

8. Psalm 23:4 – “Even though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil, for you are with me.”

Perhaps one of the most well-known verses of comfort, it depicts God as a faithful shepherd who walks with His people even in the darkest times. It reassures families that they will not walk through grief alone.

9. Romans 8:38-39 – “Nothing… will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

In seasons of loss, it’s easy to feel abandoned. This verse reminds believers that no matter what happens — not even death — can separate them from God’s love.

10. 1 Thessalonians 4:13 – “We do not want you to be uninformed… so that you do not grieve like the rest of mankind, who have no hope.”

This verse doesn’t deny the reality of grief, but it reframes it through the lens of hope. For Christians, grief is accompanied by the assurance of reunion with loved ones in the presence of God.

Grief is one of the most challenging experiences anyone can endure, but the Bible offers a source of comfort that goes beyond human understanding. For individuals and families, these verses can serve as a lifeline — reminders that God sees, hears, and walks with them through their pain.

Whether read in moments of solitude, spoken during family prayer, or shared at a memorial service, these scriptures can help anchor hearts in hope, even in the midst of loss.

Samanta Virginio on the romance of whimsical dressing

0

Few garments truly ignite joy at first glance – but Samanta Virginio’s creations do. Her designs radiate the carefree spirit of an endless summer: a blend of airy textures, pastel florals, and vivid palettes that whisk you away to sun-drenched days in the Hamptons or along the Adriatic coast.

Raised between Italy and New York, Samanta draws deeply from her bicultural roots. Each item is steeped in narrative, paying homage to American dreamscapes and Italian elegance, while spotlighting new-age heroines.

After completing her BA in Womenswear at Central Saint Martins, Samanta launched her brand with no grand blueprint – just a desire to make honest and joyful clothing. Her breakout SS23 collection, Leonesse, married 1920s Italian allure with 1990s American optimism. Since then, recurring motifs – chunky knits, argyle prints, citrus hues – have been reimagined across subsequent collections like The Vixen Garden, Futura and most recently, Senza Rossetto.

Worn by muses including Suki Waterhouse, Tanya Lou Reynolds and Mia Regan, Samanta’s designs exude fairytale romanticism with cross-continental flair.

Once you meet her, the designer’s work makes total sense. Like her sartorial creations, Samanata is magnetic – grounded yet whimsical, with a playful spirit that feels part pixie, part fashion savant. Most of the time, you’ll catch her wearing her own clothes – which hold a mirror up to her effervescent character.

Step into Samanta’s enchanting world of style and uncover the magic behind her ethereal aesthetic below.

The Fashion Insider Diary with Samanta Virginio

Date Night:

I wore this outfit for Valentine’s Day. The lipstick print from my SS25 collection felt perfect, even though it’s not actually inspired by kisses. It’s based on the story of when Italian women voted for the first time and had to remove their lipstick to avoid staining the ballot. It was freezing that night, so I paired it with a long knitwear coat. Romantic but practical.

Holiday Style:

I love this swimsuit from my new collection. It’s reversible, so it feels like having two looks in one, which is ideal when you’re packing light for a weekend escape. In this photo, I was in Biarritz during the off-season for a quick two-day break before my London summer pop-up. I spent time offline, reading by the ocean, and just enjoying the calm. It was a dream.

A Day at Work:

When I’m doing showrooms abroad or pop-ups, it’s really important for me to be comfortable but still feel put together. I always wear flat shoes since I’m standing most of the day. In this photo, I’m in Paris in June, hosted by the restaurant Derrière. I’ve also just finished a really exciting project designing their new uniforms.

A Chic Sunday Stroll:

This was taken on Easter Sunday. It was the first time I spent Easter in London without my family, so I wanted to still make the day feel special. Dressing up helps me mark those moments, and I chose a bright, spring-inspired outfit. I went for a walk in Richmond and ate lots of chocolate. It was a small but meaningful celebration.

A Outfit That Sparks Confidence:

This dress is one of my favourites I’ve ever designed. The knitwear technique is inspired by filigrana, a traditional Venetian glassmaking style. I wore it to my florist takeover event in February and felt so confident in it. Even though it’s quite revealing, the stretch fabric meant I didn’t have to fuss or adjust it, I could just move freely and enjoy the moment.

Can you describe your personal style in a few words?

Colourful but balanced, happy and chic.

What’s your go-to outfit for a busy day of work or events? How do you balance comfort and style?

Comfort is key for me. I think in order to move and speak confidently, you have to feel at ease in what you wear. That doesn’t mean sweatpants, but breathable fabrics or stretchy knits always help. For a busy day, I’ll usually go for flat shoes and a cotton button-down shirt paired with a fun skirt. It instantly makes you look put together. In winter, I’m a big believer in a great statement coat so you can stay cozy underneath and still elevate your look from the outside.

What are your go-to brands?

Mine! I do love shoes though, which is one category I haven’t explored for my brand yet. I also really love discovering and supporting London-based, female-owned brands, which is part of why curating the Spicy Sisters pop-ups is such a treat. I would say people should come to those to find my go-tos in real life.

What is your favourite celebrity Samanta Virginio look so far?

Honestly, my favourite thing is seeing how my friends and clients style SV into their everyday wardrobe. That’s what makes me happiest.

What kind of woman do you design for?

The women who surround me. My friends from all over the world, my mum, and myself.

Do you have any fashion icons or inspirations that influence your designs? How do they inspire you?

There are so many inspiring women, both past and present. Recently, I read a beautiful Italian memoir called La Portalettere, which tells the true story of the first postwoman in southern Italy. It reminded me how progress happens at different paces in different places, and how much work is still needed for global gender equality. I also loved the film The Six Triple Eight. I had no idea about the true story of this women’s battalion in World War II and was so moved by their courage. Those two stories actually inspired my SS26 collection, which comes out in the fall. You’ll see nods to post-war style details, like vintage buttons and certain colour palettes and silhouettes. As for fashion icons, I love Donyale Luna.

How did your transatlantic upbringing influence your designs?

I think it made me very observant and visual. I was constantly exposed to different cultures and aesthetics, especially because I travelled a lot as a child following my parents for work. I still remember doing an Ebru water marbling workshop in Istanbul when I was twelve. The colours were unforgettable. Visiting glass blowers in Murano and lace makers in Burano, near my hometown in Italy, also left a big impression on me. From the American side, I think the fast-paced lifestyle gave me the mindset to build a business and be a creative entrepreneur.

Accessories can make or break an outfit. What are your must-have accessories, and how do you use them to elevate your look?

A good-sized bag is essential, especially one that can fit all my essentials and an umbrella because, well, London. I also always go for comfortable but fun shoes. I really dislike boring black ones. I actually don’t think I even own a black bag or a plain black shoe. I’m not big on jewellery in the daytime, but I love a fun hair clip. At night I love statement earrings and stacking fun rings, it elevates even the simplest outfit!

How do you stay up to date with the latest fashion trends and do you incorporate them into both your own wardrobe and collections?

I don’t really follow trends or read reports. What I do instead is go into stores, speak with sales teams, and see what’s on the rails. I look at the materials other brands are using, where they’re made, and how they’re priced. I want my products to reflect the quality, craftsmanship and creative process behind them. Trends come and go, but transparency and quality last. I also just design what I believe in and what fits into real daily life. For example, I love a short skirt, so I often build shorts into them.

Can you share some of your styling tips for mixing and matching pieces?

I’m lucky that the women in my family have always loved fashion, so when I wear something that’s not from my own brand, it’s often pieces from my mum, grandma, or aunt’s youth. My friends always laugh because whenever someone compliments something I’m wearing, I usually say, “Thanks, it’s vintage, from my mum.” I believe each piece in your outfit should have space to breathe. If I’m wearing an intricate top, I’ll pair it with a simpler bottom and a standout shoe. It’s a bit like makeup, where you balance bold lips with subtle eyes, or the other way around.

What’s your strategy for creating memorable looks for evening parties?

I have one saying: you can never be overdressed. And always make sure you can move and dance in it.

10 healing songs to help you navigate grief, loss, and the pain of death

songs to help you navigate grief, loss, and the pain of death

Music has long been a balm for the soul, especially in times of grief. Whether mourning the death of a loved one, grappling with loss, or facing the overwhelming emotions that accompany death, the right song can provide more than comfort, it can offer a profound sense of connection, empathy and hope.

Music is healing. This isn’t mystical thinking, t’s backed by science. A 2017 study found that 94% of respondents intentionally turned to music during their grieving process. Similarly, a 2013 pilot study revealed that music could help individuals cope with bereavement, offering both emotional release and psychological support.

Sometimes, simply pressing play can offer immense relief, helping you process the whirlwind of emotions—anger, confusion, sadness, denial, that so often accompany grief. And while the journey through grief is unique to each individual, music can serve as a common thread, weaving a sense of solidarity between strangers who have experienced similar pain.

Her performance honoured the thousands of African soldiers who fought and died to restore peace to Europe.

These songs serve not only as expressions of mourning but as tools for healing. Whether you are grieving, remembering, or simply navigating the complex emotions of life and death, let this playlist remind you: you are not alone, and music is always there to help carry the weight.

Col. Festus Aboagye remembers Omane Boamah’s openness, commitment to national cohesion

0

Retired security analyst Col. Festus Aboagye has shared a poignant memory of the late Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, describing him as a leader who was open to ideas and deeply committed to fostering unity in the country.

Speaking on Newsfile in the wake of Wednesday’s helicopter crash that claimed Dr. Boamah’s life along with seven others, Col. Aboagye recalled an exchange earlier this year when he presented a communication strategy on the Bawku conflict to the minister.

Professor Poku Sampane questions necessity of sending helicopter crash victims’ remains to South Africa

0

A renowned Ghanaian histopathologist, Prof. Paul Poku Sampene Ossei, has raised eyebrows by stating that Ghana possesses sufficient facilities to conduct a forensic audit on the bodies of the eight individuals who perished in the recent helicopter crash.

According to Dr. Sampane, the country has the necessary human and infrastructure resources to identify the charred bodies, making it unnecessary to send them to South Africa solely for identification purposes.

Eleven domestic workers arrested over illegal abortions in Hong Kong

0

Eleven domestic workers have been arrested in Hong Kong on suspicion of “child destruction” and illegal abortions, police have said.

The women, in their 30s and 40s, were rounded up after one was found at her employer’s home with a dead foetus, later confirmed to be at least 28 weeks old.

Police also found drugs they suspected were abortion pills – which eventually led them to the 10 other women.

Five have since been charged, while five are on bail and one has been remanded in custody for further investigation. If found guilty of the most serious charge, child destruction, they could face a life sentence.

The investigation began in June after paramedics were called to help a 39-year-old domestic worker, who had collapsed at her employer’s home.

Paramedics then found the foetus hidden in a laundry basket in her room, police said, which had not been born alive.

When questioned, the woman admitted buying the pills from a friend – another foreign domestic worker.

She was arrested in July, with police eventually carrying out a series of raids between 29 July and 8 August, during which another eight domestic workers were detained.

Inspector Lam Ho-yin, of the Yuen Long district crime squad, said it did not appear to be a crime syndicate. Instead, preliminary findings showed “the 32-year-old foreign domestic helper… brought them back from another country” and had been allegedly selling them on.

It is not clear what each woman – whose nationalities police would not reveal – has been accused of.

Abortion is legal in Hong Kong, but only under strict conditions – under 24 weeks when continuing with the pregnancy would damage the mother’s life, or if the physical or mental health of the pregnant woman is at risk, or in the case of severe foetal abnormality. Over 24 weeks, abortions can only be carried out if the mother’s life is in danger.

People found guilty of supplying or using drugs for abortion can face up to seven years of jail time.

On Friday, police asked employers to get their domestic workers to speak to a medical professional if they were pregnant.

Hong Kong hosts some 368,000 foreign domestic workers, according to government statistics. Most – some 55% – come from the Philippines, while 42% are from Indonesia.

Most earn a government-fixed monthly minimum wage of HK$4,990 (US$636; £473).

Be sensitive, wrong words deepen grief – Counselling Psychologist

0

Bishop Fred Korankye-Mensah, Counselling Psychologist and Pastor of the Transformation Assembly, has urged Ghanaians to exercise greater sensitivity when consoling families affected by tragedies, particularly in the wake of the recent military helicopter crash that claimed the lives of eight prominent Ghanaians.

Speaking on The Big Issue on Saturday, August 9, Bishop Korankye-Mensah advised mourners to prioritise their presence over hasty words, noting that the wrong comments, however well-intentioned, can deepen grief.

“Instead of being in a hurry to speak, just be there with your presence. In the time of grieving, your presence is very important. Your words are secondary. So just be there with your presence, study the environment and say the right things,” he said.

He explained that non-verbal gestures, such as a gentle touch or holding hands—if permitted by tradition or culture—can offer more comfort than spoken condolences.

“When they are crying, you can give them a touch, you can hold their hands if it is allowed by their tradition and by their culture and then just be there with your presence. The things you say can worsen their situation,” he cautioned.

Recalling his own experience of loss at the age of nineteen, Bishop Korankye-Mensah revealed how a clumsy comment from his pastor left him unsettled rather than comforted.

“I remember when my father died… my pastor told me that it is God who has taken my father, and I was like this doesn’t make sense. I need my father here to pay my school fees, what does God need him in heaven for? If you can’t say the right things just keep quiet and be there with your presence.”

His remarks come at a time when the nation is mourning the deaths of senior government officials and military personnel, with many offering condolences to the affected families.

The helicopter crash on Wednesday, August 6, claimed the lives of Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence, and Dr. Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, Minister for Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation.

Others confirmed dead were Muniru Mohammed, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator; Samuel Aboagye, former parliamentary candidate; and Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC).

The crew members who perished were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

Earlier, the Ghana Armed Forces reported that the Z-9 helicopter, carrying three crew members and five passengers, had gone “off the radar.”

The aircraft departed Accra at 09:12 local time (GMT) and was heading to Obuasi for an anti-illegal mining event. Its disappearance triggered an immediate search-and-rescue operation, which later confirmed that all eight people aboard had died.

A flower-laying ceremony is currently underway as part of a series of national mourning events leading up to the state burial scheduled for August 15, 2025. The flower-laying ceremony started on Thursday, August 7.

Asiedu Nketiah speaks on replacing himself with Dr Sarpong in helicopter crash

0

National Chairman for NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah National Chairman for NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah

The National Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has recounted how he narrowly escaped being on the Ghana Air Force helicopter that crashed on August 6, 2025, killing eight people, including two ministers.

Speaking during a courtesy call on the families of the bereaved, Asiedu Nketiah revealed that he had initially been scheduled to join the flight but had to attend to another engagement.

As a result, he delegated Dr Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the NDC, to represent the party in his place, a decision that tragically cost Sarpong his life.

“I was supposed to be on the flight, and then at the last minute I directed my vice chairman, who is Sarpong, that he should go and stand in for the party.

“In your human ways, you will be thinking that had I not sent Sarpong, maybe it would have been me. But who knows? God might have decided that if this was his time, he would be knocked down by a trotro in Accra.

“So, we don’t question what Allah wants to do. In all this, we have to give thanks to Him, because if this hadn’t happened, something worse might have happened.”

The crash occurred while the delegation was on its way to the launch of the Responsible Cooperative Mining and Skills Development Programme (rCOMSDEP) at Black Park, near the Obuasi Len Clay Sports Stadium in the Ashanti Region.

The accident claimed the lives of, Dr Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, Minister of Defence, Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed, Minister of Environment, Science and Technology, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Dr Samuel Sarpong, Vice Chairman of the NDC, Samuel Aboagye, Deputy Director-General of NADMO, Squadron Leader Peter Baafemi Anala, Ghana Air Force, Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu, Ghana Air Force and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah, Ghana Air Force.

“These actors were allegedly part of an international criminal organisation that conducted romance scams and business email compromises, stealing over $100 million from dozens of victims,” the FBI stated in an official post on Thursday, August 8, 2025.

The alleged scheme involved tricking victims, both individuals and businesses, into sending large sums of money under false pretences.

The FBI has intensified its crackdown on such cyber-enabled crimes in recent years, working with law enforcement partners across borders to bring perpetrators to justice.

Romance scams typically involve cultivating fake online relationships to exploit victims financially, while BEC schemes target companies by compromising business email accounts to redirect payments to fraudulent bank accounts.

How Kofi Boat and his “sakawa” gang allegedly swindled over $100million from American ‘clients’

0

In a shocking case that has spanned nearly a decade, four Ghanaian nationals have been indicted for allegedly masterminding a sophisticated criminal enterprise that defrauded vulnerable individuals and businesses of more than $100 million.

The accused, Isaac Oduro Boateng, alias “Kofi Boat,” Inusah Ahmed, known as “Pascal,” Derrick Van Yeboah, referred to as “Van,” and Patrick Kwame Asare, dubbed “Borgar”, are said to have orchestrated a web of romance scams and business email compromises, targeting victims across the United States, including the Southern District of New York.

According to the unsealed indictment, the group operated under the guise of “sakawa,” a Ghanaian term for internet fraud. The scheme preyed on lonely, often elderly individuals, who were deceived into believing they were in romantic relationships with fictitious personas created by the defendants.

“Once trust was established, the victims were manipulated into transferring money to accounts controlled by the Enterprise, which they believed belonged to their romantic partners,” the court documents revealed. The conspirators chillingly referred to these victims as “clients” and their stolen funds as “clean money,” as the victims were unlikely to immediately report the transactions as fraudulent.

The indictment further detailed how the group expanded their operations to include business email compromises, a tactic where they impersonated company employees or associates to divert funds.

By creating email accounts with slight variations of legitimate addresses, they tricked businesses into wiring large sums to accounts under their control. This method, dubbed “ali baba” by the conspirators, involved forged authorization letters and fake signatures to lend credibility to their requests.

The stolen funds were laundered through a network of middlemen in the U.S., who operated shell companies purportedly involved in automobile sales, food imports, and freight shipping. These middlemen took a cut before funnelling the remainder to West Africa, where the profits were distributed to high-ranking members of the organisation, including Boateng and Ahmed, who held the title of “chairmen.” Van Yeboah and Asare, also key figures, played active roles in executing the scams, with Van Yeboah personally engaging in romance fraud.

The long arm of the law finally caught up with the group after a collaborative effort between U.S. and Ghanaian authorities. Boateng, Ahmed, and Van Yeboah were extradited to the U.S. on August 7, 2025, and appeared before a magistrate judge the following day. Asare remains at large. U.S. Attorney Jay Clayton condemned the defendants’ actions, stating, “Offshore scammers should know that we, the FBI, and our law enforcement partners will work around the world to combat online fraud and bring perpetrators to justice.”

FBI Assistant Director Christopher G. Raia echoed these sentiments, emphasising the emotional and financial toll on victims. “Deceiving businesses and exploiting vulnerable elderly individuals through fraudulent companionship is not merely appalling but illegal,” he said.

The defendants face multiple charges, including wire fraud conspiracy, money laundering, and receipt of stolen money, with maximum sentences ranging from five to 20 years per count. Authorities have also moved to seize assets linked to the illicit gains, vowing to recover every possible dollar for the victims.

As the case unfolds, it serves as a stark reminder of the perils of online fraud and the global reach of law enforcement in pursuing justice. For now, the spotlight remains on the alleged “sakawa boys,” whose lavish lifestyles, built on the backs of their victims, may soon come crashing down.

GES calls for stakeholders’ approach to purge schools of immorality and violence

0

The Ghana Education Service has called for a stakeholders’ approach towards purging immorality and violence in school communities, especially second cycle schools.

The Acting Deputy Director General of the Ghana Education Service, Prof Smile Gavua Dzisi, said that while her outfit takes measures to sanction perpetrators of unlawful acts, teachers and school managers have bigger roles to play in nipping the canker in the bud.

She outlined teenage pregnancy, lack of interest in academic activities, surfing social media for pleasure, watching pornography, violent attacks, occultism, shooting, and stabbing among others as occurring incidents in the second cycle schools, that needed to be tackled.

She was speaking at the 9th Conference of Heads, Chaplains, Managers, and Directors of the Evangelical Presbyterian Church, (COHCEP) held in Sogakofe in the South Tongu District of the Volta Region.

“What is happening? What are we not doing right? All of us, it is our collective responsibility and we must try and get it right”, she said.

Teachers must position themselves to be seen as role models

Prof Smile Gavua Dzisi entreated teachers to be proactive stewards in guiding their students to become responsible adults to help advance the development of society.

She also advised teachers to devote themselves to the worship of Christ and be guided by the word of God in taking care of His creation, while ensuring their practices are bound by the Code of Ethics.

She underscored the imperative need for teachers to invest in building their capacity to be able to handle complex situations in schools and train their students.

“So as educators, let us prepare ourselves. Let us have the skills to reach out to people. Let us have interpersonal skills, work as a team, and work on yourself first before you go to others. You must be highly knowledgeable so that you can be ahead of other schools”, she stressed.

Immorality in Schools; E.P. Church’s Approach

The Moderator of the General Assembly of the E.P. Church, Rt. Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. (Rtd.) Bliss Divine Kofi Agbeko expressed deep concerns about the increasing trend of immorality in educational institutions.

He stressed that the Church would continue to guide E.P. Church mission schools to prioritize instilling discipline and moral values in students.

He reiterated a collective approach towards changing the current narrative of violence in schools, students physically assaulting teachers, cases of sexual assault, occultism among others.

“As mission schools, we have some objectives, moral objectives. God loving, God fearing objectives to be inculcated into students so that they come out as disciplined, well-behaved, well-mannered and cultured people to be viable in society, anywhere they are placed”, he said.

Proposed AI curriculum for second-cycle schools

Rt. Rev. Dr. Lt. Col. (Rtd.) Bliss Divine Kofi Agbeko proposed that managers of second-cycle schools should develop an AI curriculum for their students.

This he believes would play a crucial role in equipping students with the requisite skill set to make them viable and competent in the fourth industrial revolution.

He posited that it is incumbent on the education sector to help in producing a workforce that would advance the country’s development agenda by harnessing the potential of the fourth industrial revolution.

“This is why we think that our educational unit should introduce a curriculum that will help prepare, teach, and make students capable of engaging or using artificial intelligence at the workplace, at home among others. We must address our needs through the kind of education that we offer”, he said.

He pledged the Church’s commitment to providing the needed capacity building for teachers in moderating artificial intelligence training and financing the procurement of the required logistics as well.

The President of COHCEP, Pastor Ernestina Doris Peniana said Conference was convened to enable members to build their capacity and align with the recent trends of teaching and managing school communities.

She underscores the crucial roles of teachers and managers of schools in the nurturing of students to become leaders of tomorrow and urges them to put their hands to the wheel.

“As we stand at the intersection of faith and education, our calling is sacred. Our schools are not just centres of learning-they are gardens of hope, where character is cultivated, faith is deepened, and leaders are born. The role each of us plays-as a Head, Chaplain, or Manager-is vital to this noble cause”, she said.

Participants at the conference were taken through topics such as; building relationship: a strategic imperative for heads and chaplains in educational institutions.

The rest were harmonizing hearts and minds: re-enacting the role of music in holistic education in Ghana and Identifying and managing mental health issues in our schools and colleges.

Ghana’s economy to exceed its 2025 targets – IC Research

0

Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, Minister of Finance Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, Minister of Finance

The latest report from IC Research has shown that Ghana’s economy is on course to outperform its 2025 macroeconomic targets, driven by strong first-half results.

According to the report, improvements in inflation, exchange rate stability, interest rates, first-quarter GDP growth, and gross international reserves were the key contributors to the positive outlook.

Reviewing the 2025 Mid-Year Budget, IC Research noted that fiscal performance in the first six months delivered a “sizable fiscal adjustment,” surpassing both government targets and its forecasts.

Oil prices set for weekly drop amid tariff fallout

“Our analysis shows renewed discipline in spending and a halt in arrears accumulation, supported by solid tax revenue, despite weaker non-tax revenue. Given the stronger-than-expected fiscal results, the government remains confident in meeting end-2025 macro-fiscal goals, all of which were retained,” the report said.

The report added that the robust first-half performance has alleviated short-term fiscal concerns for 2024, although it cautioned that execution risks remain.

However, authorities have identified key threats and proposed credible mitigation strategies.

Total revenue and grants for the first half of 2025 stood at GH¢99.3 billion, or 7.1% of GDP, 3.2% below target but 8.3% above IC Research’s forecast, boosted by enhanced tax compliance.

Can an African player win the 2025 Ballon d’Or?

Salah (L) and Achraf Hakimi (R) have been shortlisted for the 2025 Ballon d'Or Salah (L) and Achraf Hakimi (R) have been shortlisted for the 2025 Ballon d’Or

GhanaWeb Feature by Benjamin Sackey

Ahead of the 2025 Ballon d’Or ceremony, much has been said about the players likely to lift the prestigious accolade with African players firmly in the conversation.

After the official announcement of the final 30 nominees, Egypt’s Mohamed Salah and Morocco’s Achraf Hakimi were the only African players to make the list.

While Hakimi won a treble with French giants Paris Saint-Germain, Salah clinched only the Premier League title with Liverpool.

This feature dissects both players’ chances of winning the much-coveted award

Uganda defeat Guinea 3-0 to secure first win of CHAN 2025

Achraf Hakimi

The Moroccan star has a legitimate chance of winning the Ballon d’Or following his standout performances for PSG in the 2024/2025 season.

Performance statistics:

In Ligue 1, Hakimi made 25 appearances, scoring four goals and providing eight assists.

In the UEFA Champions League where PSG defeated top European sides to emerge champions, he played 17 matches, scored four goals, and made five assists.

In the Coupe de France, he played five games, contributing one goal and one assist.

Hakimi was also instrumental in the inaugural edition of the revamped FIFA Club World Cup.

During the tournament, he played seven matches, scoring twice and registering two assists.

Across the 2024/2025 season, he won 19 aerial duels, completed 142 tackles, and made 37 blocks. As of Matchday 25, he ranked 52nd in Ligue 1 based on defensive metrics.

In total, Hakimi played approximately 55 matches in the season, scoring 11 goals and providing 16 assists.

Trophy-wise, he achieved a historic treble with PSG, winning the UEFA Champions League, Ligue 1, and the Coupe de France.

Praised as one of the best full-backs in the world due to his contributions both in defense and attack, Hakimi has built a strong case.

Top 5 football clubs with the most Ballon d’Or winners; a legacy of excellence

Mohamed Salah

Mohamed Salah delivered one of the best individual seasons of his career, though he lacked major silverware to back it up.

Performance statistics:

Salah had a stellar campaign in the 2024/2025 Premier League season, finishing as the league’s top scorer.

The Egyptian made 38 appearances, scoring 29 goals and providing 18 assists for a total of 47 goal contributions.

Despite Liverpool’s exit in the Round of 16 against PSG in the Champions League, Salah played nine matches, scoring three goals and assisting four.

In the EFL Cup, the Egyptian captain played five games, scoring twice and adding one assist.

Overall, Salah made around 55 appearances during the 2024/2025 season, netting 34 goals and delivering 23 assists.

Though his only major trophy was the Premier League title, his outstanding individual performance could place him among the top contenders for the Ballon d’Or.

Do these players stand a chance?

Salah and Hakimi are certainly in contention for the accolade based on their performances throughout the 2024/2025 season.

However, players like Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal, and PSG’s Ousmane Dembélé and Vitinha are widely regarded as favorites to win the award.

If Salah or Hakimi wins, it would mark only the second time an African player has received the prestigious award after Liberia’s George Weah.

However, whether their performances will be enough to convince Ballon d’Or voters remains to be seen.

The black box is not ‘black’

The black box plays a crucial role in facilitating investigations when incidents occur The black box plays a crucial role in facilitating investigations when incidents occur

Many Ghanaians may have heard about a “black box” for the first time following the fatal helicopter crash at Adansi Sikaman, which claimed the lives of eight high-ranking government officials and Ghana Armed Forces personnel.

For starters, the black box is not actually black, as the name suggests. It is a small, orange-colored metallic device that records and stores flight data and cockpit audio from helicopters and airplanes.

The black box plays a crucial role in facilitating investigations when incidents such as crashes or accidents occur. It is designed to be crash-resistant, capable of withstanding fire, explosions, high-speed impacts, and even water immersion to a certain extent.

A black box has two key components:

1. Flight Data Recorder (FDR): Records more than 80 different types of technical data, including altitude, airspeed, flight heading, vertical acceleration, pitch, roll, autopilot status, and engine performance.

2. Cockpit Voice Recorder (CVR): Records all sounds within the cockpit, including conversations between pilots, engine noises, and radio transmissions.

These recording devices are housed inside a unit typically made from strong materials such as steel or titanium. They are also insulated to protect against extreme heat, cold, and moisture. To safeguard the black box, it is usually installed near the tail end of the aircraft, where the impact during a crash is generally the least severe.

With the helicopter’s black box recovered, investigators can now make significant headway in determining the circumstances and causes of the crash.

Among the victims of the Z-9 helicopter crash was Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Minister for Defence. The crash also claimed the life of the Minister for Environment, Science, and Technology, Dr Ibrahim Murtala Mohammed.

Other victims included Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna; former Ashanti Regional Minister Dr Samuel Sarpong; and Samuel Aboagye, a former parliamentary candidate.

The helicopter’s crew members who perished were Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Malin Twum-Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

The helicopter crashed on August 6, 2025, while en route to Obuasi for a government mission related to illegal mining (galamsey), as part of ongoing national efforts to curb the menace.

Prices of brent crude falls as President Trump hikes India's tariffs Prices of brent crude falls as President Trump hikes India’s tariffs

Crude oil prices were headed for a steep weekly drop on August 8, 2025, as a combination of tariff fears and OPEC+ production weighed heavily on market sentiment, fueling bearishness among traders.

Brent crude was trading at $66.39 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate stood at $63.79 per barrel, both lower than their August 7, 2025, closing prices.

Prices fell despite US President Donald Trump’s decision to impose an additional 25% tariff on all Indian imports as punishment for India’s purchases of Russian crude. Analysts estimate the new tariffs could jeopardise about 3.5 million barrels per day of oil supply.

According to ING commodity analysts, news of a possible meeting between President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin also put pressure on oil prices.

The meeting is seen as pivotal, as it could influence whether secondary tariffs on India remain in place, depending on the outcome of discussions.

However, President Trump’s deadline for securing a Russia–Ukraine peace deal expires on Friday, August 8, 2025, leaving open the possibility that the US will tighten sanctions against Moscow.

Meanwhile, reports indicate that Indian refiners are seeking alternative oil supplies. Reuters noted that two state-owned majors had secured approximately 22 million barrels from non-Russian sources for delivery in the coming months.

On the bullish side, China’s crude oil imports rose in July by 11.5% year-on-year to an average of 11.2 million barrels per day. However, this figure was 5.4% lower compared to June, when imports surged to 12.14 million bpd, the highest in nearly two years.

The June spike reflected both restocking after refinery maintenance and opportunistic buying by independent refiners taking advantage of steep discounts on sanctioned barrels.

Do I keep hanging out with my crush even though she’s not interested in romance?

0

DEAR ABBY: I am a college student finishing up my final year. There’s this girl I have liked since my sophomore year. Unfortunately, things didn’t pan out. After I asked if we could hang out one-on-one, she explained that she didn’t like romance.

We ended up being friends, though. However, I have noticed we are hanging out less and less often, and I’m usually the one making the effort. It bothers me because we get along quite well, and when we do hang out, it’s for a long time. We have good conversations and have shared personal stories.

The last time we were together, I told her I would leave the initiative with her, and she should tell me when she next wanted to get together. That was two months ago, and I’m getting the feeling she probably isn’t going to ask me. It makes me really sad.

If by the end of the semester she doesn’t reach out, should I send her a message expressing my disappointment but wish her well? Or should I ask if I could meet her once more before leaving? (I doubt I will see her again after graduation.) I suppose this would be going back on my word about leaving it up to her, but I don’t want to feel regret. — SMITTEN IN INDIANA

DEAR SMITTEN: From what you have written, this young woman has been trying to let you down gently, but her message hasn’t gotten through. She is not interested in a romance with you. What do you think you would accomplish by asking to see her “one more time”? Speaking as an unbiased spectator, it could be awkward for her and painful for you. If you would like to text her a message wishing her well, it might be a better way to close this chapter of your life.

DEAR ABBY: I’m an older gay male with many gay friends, but I have never come out to family, although I’m confident most of them know or suspect my sexual orientation.

I invited my cousin and her husband to a small get-together before an event here in the city near my house. I also invited a few close (gay) friends who were attending the event. I’m fairly close with this cousin, but have never talked about my sexual orientation with her.

One of my friends is very open about his life, and I asked him politely to refrain from talking about it when meeting my cousin and her husband for the first time. He agreed, although he was a bit taken aback. He later called me a “homophobe.” Was I wrong to ask that those personal details not be a part of the conversation? — DISCREET IN THE EAST

DEAR DISCREET: You state that you suspect that some of your family members are aware of your sexual orientation. You have the right to invite anyone you wish to your social gatherings, but having done so, you shouldn’t attempt to censor who they are. Because you have some gay people at a party does not necessarily mean you are gay, too. That said, this might have been a missed opportunity for you to open that closet door a few inches wider.

Dr. Frank Amoakohene Receives Widespread Criticism After Photo Circulates Online

News Hub Creator32min

Ashanti Regional Minister Dr. Frank Amoakohene is facing widespread public criticism after a controversial photo from his visit to a helicopter crash site went viral on social media. The image shows the minister sitting casually in a forested area, a demeanor many find inappropriate given the gravity of the official inspection.

The photo has sparked strong backlash from Ghanaians who view his relaxed posture as insensitive and disrespectful to the tragedy. Many have accused Dr. Amoakohene of prioritizing public applause and media attention over genuinely addressing the emergency.

This incident has fueled growing frustration among citizens who feel some politicians focus more on building their social media image than on providing effective leadership. There are demands for accountability, with many questioning whether the minister’s actions reflect a sincere commitment to public service.

Critics argue that this episode is part of a larger pattern where optics and staged photo opportunities take precedence over meaningful engagement with critical issues. The minister’s casual attitude during such a serious investigation has raised doubts about his grasp of proper official conduct.

The timing of the photograph, captured amid an ongoing helicopter crash inquiry, has particularly angered the public, who expected solemnity and professionalism from their elected representative. Many interpret the image as a symbol of performative governance—where managing appearances outweighs addressing the real challenges.

This controversy highlights broader concerns about political leadership in Ghana, with observers noting a troubling shift toward publicity-driven politics rather than genuine problem-solving. The public increasingly demands that officials show authentic concern and responsibility during crises, instead of orchestrating staged media moments.

The Traders Advocacy Group Ghana (TAGG) has expressed deep sorrow over the fatal helicopter crash that claimed the lives of several high-profile Ghanaians, including government ministers and military personnel, on August 6, 2025.

In a statement issued on August 7, TAGG described the tragedy as “one of the most devastating in Ghana’s history”, plunging the nation into “deep mourning.”

The organisation extended condolences to the bereaved families, the Government, and all Ghanaians, noting the exceptional service and national commitment demonstrated by the deceased.

“Ghana has lost visionary leaders. They will be forever remembered,” the group stated.

TAGG, which represents traders across the country, made an interfaith appeal, urging Muslims and Christians to unite in prayer for the souls of the departed and for strength for the grieving families.

The group also called on the government to conduct a full and transparent investigation into the crash to rule out foul play and help prevent future tragedies of this nature.

“Government must act swiftly to uncover the cause and put safeguards in place,” the statement emphasised.

The statement was signed by several national executives of TAGG, including:

Kwadwo Amoateng, President

Nana Poku, General Secretary

Samuel Asare Addo, Vice President

Irene Victoria Odoom, Treasurer

Juliet Kusi, Deputy Secretary

Abraham Yao Fianu, Protocol Officer

TAGG concluded with a patriotic appeal:

“May their souls rest in perfect peace. Long live TAGG, long live Ghana.”
