The people of Tarkwa-Nsueam will face severe challenges in accessing potable drinking water.
The Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has announced the closure of the Bonsa Headworks, which provides 75% of Tarkwa-Nsueam Municipality’s potable water in the Western Region.
The decision according to GWL stems from the severe impact of illegal mining, or “galamsey,” on the Bonsa River, making water extraction and treatment unfeasible.

The crash occurred on Thursday evening, and emergency responders worked tirelessly to rescue the victims.
DOII Anthony Kwesi Rhule, the Apam District Fire Service Commander, who led the rescue operation, stated that it took firemen several hours to free one of the victims who had become trapped in their vehicle. According to initial reports, a Honda Pilot 4×4 with the registration number DE 3440-13, traveling from Apam towards Winneba, collided head-on with a sprinter minibus with the registration number GW 5064-24. The collision caused the Honda Pilot to spin and crash into a Kia truck (GW 8308-21), which was loaded with pineapples and heading in the opposite direction towards Winneba.
All victims were transported to the Trauma and Specialist Hospital in Winneba for medical treatment. Preliminary investigations suggest that excessive speeding and improper overtaking by the driver of the Honda Pilot may have been factors contributing to the crash.

As Ghanaian artiste Marwake’s latest single, “Change,” gains traction for its uplifting message of resilience and hope, the musician has found himself embroiled in controversy over his decision to shoot the music video at the recently burned-out Kantamanto Market.
This move has sparked mixed reactions, with some praising his creativity and others calling it insensitive.
The incident
A few hours after the devastating fire that gutted parts of the Kantamanto Market on January 2, 2025—leaving many traders counting their losses—Marwake and his team were spotted among the debris, shooting scenes for the music video of “Change.” The fire, which is currently under investigation by the police, has raised concerns about the safety of the affected area and the plight of traders who have lost their investments.
Snippets of the video shoot, shared on social media, show Marwake and his crew navigating the charred remnants of the market. The footage quickly went viral, drawing sharp criticism from netizens and industry stakeholders.
Criticism
Critics have labelled the artiste’s actions as opportunistic and lacking empathy. “This is a place where people’s livelihoods have been destroyed. Using their pain for personal gain is deeply insensitive,” one X user stated.
Others questioned the timing and intent behind the shoot, arguing that it overshadowed the plight of the affected traders. “…focus on assisting the victims rather than turning their misfortune into a backdrop for your career,” another critic added.
Defending the decision
However, some fans and commentators have come to Marwake’s defense, highlighting the symbolism in his choice of location. They argue that the market’s ruins align with the themes of “Change,” which centers on overcoming adversity and rebuilding from the ground up.
“Art is about reflecting the realities of life, even the harsh ones. By shooting there, he is shining a light on the resilience of those affected,” a supporter commented.
Others see his actions as a bold statement, emphasizing the idea of finding opportunity in difficulty. “Even if he capitalized on the disaster, there’s nothing wrong with that. Artistes often draw inspiration from real-life events,” another defender noted.
Marwake’s next step?
As the debate continues, Marwake has yet to publicly address the criticism or explain his decision to film at the market. Whether this controversy will affect the reception of “Change” remains to be seen.
For now, the music video—capturing scenes of hope amidst destruction—is set to become as much a topic of discussion as the song itself. Marwake’s message of resilience is now intertwined with a broader conversation about sensitivity, artistry, and ethics in creative expression.
Ekow Vincent Assafuah, Deputy Minister for Local Government, Decentralization and Rural Development
A man identified as Quaicoo, widely known as Oboy, has been pointed to by Deputy Minister Ekow Vincent Assafuah as the potential mastermind behind the devastating blaze.
Speaking passionately on Asempa FM, the deputy minister suggested that the act was not random but deeply political, fueled by tensions from the recently concluded general elections.
“Anybody who knows Kantamanto will tell you that these are people who live as one community,” Mr. Assafuah remarked, lamenting how the market’s unity had been disrupted.
He revealed that Quaicoo, a polling agent for the opposition NDC, had recently fallen on hard times following a divorce that left him financially dependent on market associates.
“But due to politicking…” he added, leaving the implications to linger.
Eyewitness accounts further stirred the controversy. “A woman at Kantamanto told me that on Wednesday around 11 p.m., she saw this man passing by, and not long after, the market was in flames,” Assafuah disclosed.
“For the purposes of protecting the identity of the person who provided this information, I will keep their name confidential.”
These allegations have rippled through the market community, adding to the anguish of traders who have lost everything.
For many, the fire’s cause is secondary to the immediate need for recovery. Yet, the narrative of sabotage has left a bitter aftertaste.

Richard Amo Yartey, Director of the Inspectorate at the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO), has urged traders affected by the fire outbreak at Kantamanto to remain hopeful as the organisation works to assist them in rebuilding their lives.
Speaking to journalists during a visit to the site on Thursday, Mr. Yartey expressed sympathy to the traders, emphasising the need for hope in these trying times.
“It’s quite unfortunate that this happened at a time when we should be celebrating the New Year, but this is not the end of life. We are doing our best to support those affected and ensure they get back on their feet,” he said.
The fire, which engulfed a large section of the Kantamanto Market on Wednesday evening, destroyed hundreds of shops and property worth millions of Ghana cedis, leaving the affected traders devastated.
Many traders were seen salvaging what they could from the debris, with some attributing the outbreak to suspected arson.
Mr. Yartey disclosed that NADMO had initiated steps to assess the extent of the damage and register the affected persons to determine their individual needs.
He assured traders of transparency in the process, noting that the leadership of the market’s Traders Association was involved.
“We are setting up a desk for registration and assessment. Once we gather all the necessary information, we will develop an action plan to help them recover. While it’s difficult to provide timelines, we have already started work,” he added.
At the market, some traders were seen trying to extinguish pockets of flames that continued to smolder, while others counted their losses.
Mr. Kwabena Charles, a dealer in second-hand shoes, described the ordeal he faced after learning about the fire.
“I was home in Abeka when one of my workers called and told me to come to the market quickly. By the time I arrived at 3:00 a.m., everything had been burnt.”
“We tried to save what we could, but it was impossible. I’ve lost goods worth nearly 500 million Ghana cedis. The fire service didn’t do anything to help; don’t even mention them,” he said angrily.
The traders, many of whom have lost their entire capital, are appealing to the government and benevolent organisations for support to rebuild their businesses.
As the community grapples with the aftermath of the inferno, NADMO has called for calm and pledged to ensure that help reaches those in need.
Meanwhile, investigations into the cause of the fire are ongoing.
Fire outbreaks at the Kantamanto market have become an annual ritual.
Swiss football manager Nora Hauptle has left the country after her contract as head coach of the Black Queens expired.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) announced the appointment of the Swiss as the manager of the Ghana women’s national team, replacing Mercy Tagoe-Quarcoo who had been in charge since 2019.
However, Hauptle has left her role after deciding not to renew her contract with the GFA, which expired on December 31, 2024.
During her tenure, Hauptle qualified the Black Queens for the 2025 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) tournament which is scheduled to be hosted in Morocco later this year.
However, she lost out on qualifying the Queens for the Olympic Games after losing to Zambia’s Cooper Queens.
As earlier reported by Ghanasoccernet.com, Nora Hauptle is expected to be appointed as the head coach for Zambia’s Cooper Queens. She is expected to sign a two-year deal with a monthly salary of $7,000.
Her appointment was approved by the Executive Committee of the Zambia FA on 21 December.
Meanwhile, the Ghana FA is looking for a replacement for Nora Hauptle for the 2025 WAFCON.
Freddie Blay, the former National Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has described the party’s loss in the 2024 elections as unexpected, especially given the economic progress achieved under the Akufo-Addo-led administration as reported by Ghana Web on Thursday, January 2, 2025.
In a recent interview on GHOne TV, Blay highlighted the efforts of President Nana Akufo-Addo’s government in steering the country through economic challenges, emphasizing their strides in governance and maintaining peace.
He stated that these achievements should have been enough to secure the NPP another term in office.
“This defeat is surprising,” Blay said, reflecting on the election outcome. “Despite the challenges, the government made significant progress in economic recovery and governance.”
The 2024 elections delivered a landslide victory for the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC) in both presidential and parliamentary races, a result that has raised questions within the NPP.
While some party members have pointed to governance failures as the cause of the loss, Blay firmly believes the administration did its best under the circumstances.
He acknowledged the tough economic climate inherited by the Akufo-Addo government and stated their efforts to rebuild the economy.
“We faced significant hurdles, but we made remarkable progress. We truly believed the results would favor us,” Blay stated.
The defeat has sparked intense reflection within the NPP as they grapple with the reasons behind the unexpected outcome and look to rebuild for future elections.

Accra, Jan.03, GNA – A 12-member Election Review Committee has been constituted by the National Council of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to review its performance in the 2024 Presidential and Parliamentary elections.
The Committee, chaired by former Speaker of Parliament Professor Mike Aaron Oquaye, has three months to work and make appropriate recommendations to enable the Party to bounce back stronger in future elections.
This was in a statement issued by Mr Justin Kodua Frimpong, the General-Secretary of the Party in Accra.
The Committee is expected to engage all party stakeholders and the public and submit a comprehensive report to the Council within three months.
The report would set the stage for the Party’s reflection, rebuilding, and restructuring efforts to bounce back stronger in future elections, the statement said.
It implored all stakeholders, particularly party executives, and the members of the Party to cooperate with the Review Committee to ensure a success.
Other members of the Committee were Prof. Yaa Nitamoah-Baidu, Prof. Kofi Osei Akuoko, Prof. Samuel Bert Boadi-Kusi, Dr Felix Yamoah, and Dr Joseph Agyapong Darmoe.
The rest were Dr F. F Anto, Mr Kwaku Domfe, Madam Gifty Kusi, Abdulai Abanga, Seidu Nasigri and Mr William Yamoah.
The NPP lost the 2024 presidential elections, with its flagbearer Dr Mahamudu Bawumia polling 41 per cent as against its main contender Mr John Dramani Mahama of the National Democratic Congress, who garnered 56 per cent of the total votes cast.
In the parliamentary elections, the opposition NDC has, so far, swept more than 180 seats in Parliament with the ruling NPP winning less than 90 seats.
Samuel Obeng, the Executive Director of the Parliamentary Network for Africa, has praised the selection of Alexander Afenyo-Markin as the Minority Leader for the 9th Parliament, calling it a positive signal for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as it moves forward.
This follows the decision by the National Executive Committee (NEC) of the NPP to appoint the Member of Parliament for Effutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, as the Minority Leader.
Speaking on Eyewitness News on Thursday, January 2, 2025, Obeng underscored the importance of having a seasoned and capable leader at the head of the minority caucus.
He emphasized that Afenyo-Markin’s extensive experience, particularly during his time in the opposition, has equipped him with the skills needed to provide effective oversight and offer constructive alternatives to the government.
“It is a wise decision by the party…you may have to put your best foot forward. Experience counts. This is not the time for experimenting.
“So, they decided to opt for the people who have been doing this work already. As a majority or a minority leader, you have to be firm on the parliamentary select committee and other committees.
“Also, the selection of people who are supposed to serve on the various committees. So, the experience that comes with having served on these teams over the last couple of months helps to make sure that they will hit the ground running right from the beginning,” he stated.
The NPP also made the following selection in its leadership for the 9th parliament.
Alexander Afenyo-Markin as Minority Leader.
Patricia Apiagyei as Deputy Minority Leader.
Frank Annoh-Dompreh as Chief Whip.
Habib Iddrisu as First Deputy Minority Whip.

SEOUL, SOUTH KOREA: Thanos is one of the most polarizing characters in ‘Squid Game’ Season 2. Some viewers are fond of him, while others find him unbearable, and many have been puzzled by his use of English.
Among the contestants, he stands out as the most eccentric; with his purple hair, Infinity Stone-inspired nail paint, and carefree attitude, he often appears high on whatever substances are hidden in his necklace, even as others tremble during the brutal games.
A distinctive feature of Thanos is his switching between Korean and (often amusing) English. For instance, when he meets Player 125, he says, “What’s up, nice to meet you my brother, welcome to the Thanos world.” Additionally, some of his rap lyrics incorporate English words.
In the series, Thanos, also known as Player 230, is portrayed by Choi Seung Hyun, known professionally as T.O.P.
Why does Thanos speak in English in ‘Squid Game’ Season 2?
According to Dexerto, Thanos often speaks in English in ‘Squid Game’ Season 2 because it’s a common practice among Korean rappers and K-hip-hop artists to incorporate English lyrics into their music.
Rapper T.O.P’s character Thanos in ‘Squid Game’ Season 2 often speaks in English on the show (Netflix)
For instance, South Korean rapper Gaeko’s ‘Smoke’ begins with the line, “Light it up,” and includes other English phrases like, “I’m a south side baddie, collect all these veggies” and “Man, I can’t curse to you ’cause you already die for it.”

Another rapper Loopy’s track ‘Rrrr’ also features a long section where he raps, “Turn off the f**kin’ phone, now we get it” repeatedly. RM (formerly Rap Monster) is another example, as he raps in English in songs like ‘Wild Flower’, which opens with “Flower field, that’s where I’m at,” and ‘Come Back to Me’, which is almost entirely in English.

In K-dramas, it’s also common for characters to occasionally switch to English. For example, in Bong Joon-ho’s ‘Parasite’, one character says, “I’m deadly serious.”

Fans on Reddit have also explained why Thanos switches to English in ‘Squid Game’ Season 2.
A user explained, “Also…not sure if anyone else has mentioned this but TOP (the actor—from the Kpop group Bigbang) is fluent in English. They probably wanted to humor a western audience since Bigbang already has a pretty big international fan base.”

A person stated, “In certain countries (like mine) speaking in English shows that you’re more cultured, educated and upper class. And people who can’t speak English tend to look at you in a different more awe light if you do. Since Thanos was a LOT of ego, he was probably speaking in English like that to show off his superiority.”

Someone else chimed in, “Yeah I understand that people do that but in the context of the show he was specifically the only one who did. I was wondering if it’s something Korean rappers are known for doing.”

Inveting.com — Shares of Tullow Oil (LON:) jumped over 10% on Friday following a favorable outcome in a crucial arbitration case, providing the company with a financial and strategic advantage.
In a stock exchange filing, Tullow disclosed the favorable decision from the International Chamber of Commerce regarding a long-running tax dispute with the Ghana Revenue Authority.
The case focused on the applicability of the Branch Profit Remittance Tax to Tullow’s operations under the Deepwater Tano and West Cape Three Points Petroleum Agreements, which include the Jubilee and TEN fields off the coast of Ghana.
The ICC tribunal ruled that Tullow Ghana, a subsidiary of Tullow Oil, is not liable for the $320 million BPRT assessment that had been issued by the GRA.
The tribunal determined that BPRT does not apply to Tullow’s operations in Ghana, as it falls outside the tax framework stipulated in the Petroleum Agreements between Tullow and the government.
This ruling effectively eliminates any financial obligation tied to the disputed tax, securing Tullow Ghana from future BPRT claims related to its operations in the region.
“Tullow continues to engage with the Government of Ghana on two further disputed tax claims, which were referred to the ICC in February 2023, with the aim of resolving these disputes on a mutually acceptable basis,” the company said in a statement.
The company’s chief executive, Rahul Dhir, expressed hope for productive talks with the government of Ghana to settle the remaining claims, emphasizing the importance of optimizing value from the Jubilee and TEN fields.

Ghana’s parliament has approved a provisional budget worth 68.1 billion Ghanaian cedis, preventing a government shutdown. This decision comes as John Dramani Mahama is set to assume the presidency. The budget passage coincides with critical issues including an energy sector crisis and ongoing debt challenges.
In a pivotal session that stretched into late Thursday, Ghana’s parliament passed a provisional budget, thereby allowing the government to function without disruption.
A Former Prime Minister of Mali Choguel Maïga has been accused of embezzlement by the body that is responsible for controlling public spending.
A report by the authority points to numerous instances of embezzlement, involving significant sums of money. The former leader is said to have covered up some of the incidents or benefitted from them.
According to the auditor, there was ‘’undue expenditure on staff’’ over the entire 2020-2023 period. This includes phone subscriptions amounting to nearly €20,000, and equipment such as WiFi and computers that were meant for use in schools.
Maiga served as Prime Minister from June 2021 until November 2024, when he was dismissed by junta chief Col Assimi Goïta. The move came after criticism by Maïga of the junta’s lack of clearness about a once-promised transition back to democracy.
He has so far refused to comment on the embezzlement allegations.
Maiga has previously commented on the report when the auditor began its research, insisting that he had a ‘clear conscience’.
Accra, Jan 03, GNA – The Committee for Public Accountability (CPA), has condemned the alleged biased actions of Mr Raymond Archer and his team, particularly against Mr Daniel McKorley and other business leaders.
The CPA emphasised the importance of professionalism and fairness, cautioning against using the Oral Team to settle personal scores.
At a Press Conference in Accra, Mr Collins Amankwa, the Leader and Executive Chairperson of CPA, also addressed the alleged recent claim by the Ghana Airport Company (GACL) that McDan Aviation Company owed the Company $3 million.
“…Evidence suggests that this claim is exaggerated, with the actual amount due being around $600,000,” he said.
The CPA therefore questioned the motives behind GACL’s actions, wondering why the Company would want to undermine a successful Ghanaian business.
“This move has resulted in the shutdown of the private terminal, which is crucial for upcoming events, including the president-elect’s inauguration,” Mr Amankwa said.
According to the CPA, McDan Aviation, had allegedly made significant payments in the past and had plans to resume further payments in January 2025 adding that “The company also refuted claims that it owes GACL $3 million for the terminal, describing such reports as erroneous,” he said.
Mr Amankwa told the Press that CPA was ready to defend the interests of Ghanaian citizens, especially the business community, and would take legal action if necessary.
He also emphasised the state’s responsibility to support and protect businesses, allowing them to thrive for the collective benefit of society.
The management of GACL has shut down the McDan Aviation Private Jet Terminal due to an alleged outstanding debt of over $3 million.
The debt, which included land leases, rentals, and terminal charges accumulated over a period, was allegedly not cleared despite being given until Christmas to settle the amount.
This marks the second time McDan Aviation has faced such a shutdown.
In February 2022, GACL indefinitely barred McDan Aviation from operating its private jet services at Terminal 1 of Kotoka International Airport (KIA) following operational breaches.
This move came after McDan launched its private jet services at the airport despite not meeting the required terms and conditions set by the airport authorities.

Ayew missed the Foxes’ 2-0 defeat to Manchester City at the King Power Stadium on Sunday, December 29, 2024, due to an accumulation of yellow cards.
The 33-year-old received his fifth yellow card of the season in Leicester’s 3-1 loss to Liverpool on Boxing Day, after scoring to put his side ahead.

Ayew, who joined Leicester from Crystal Palace at the start of the 2024/25 season after seven years at Selhurst Park, has been a key player for the Foxes.

Franklin Cudjoe is the Founding President of IMANI
The Founding President of IMANI Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has called for legislative action to prevent “non-performing” politicians from receiving ex-gratia payments after leaving office.
After reports surfaced regarding such payments to outgoing government officials, Franklin Cudjoe expressed his concerns over the payment of emoluments to politicians, particularly those classified under Article 71 of the Constitution.
He criticised the poor performance of some of these officials, arguing that they had overseen reckless borrowing that pushed the country into massive debt and worsened the economic situation.
In a post on X on January 2, 2025, Franklin Cudjoe highlighted the loss of the ruling government in the recent general elections as a key indicator of their underperformance.
He also lamented the state of the economy and the impact on ordinary Ghanaians.
“So, Parliament is discussing ex-gratia for Article 71 holders behind closed doors? They had better remind themselves that almost all the recipients performed abysmall, recklessly borrowed us into a debt iceberg, junked our economy, and pushed nearly a million Ghanaians into shackling penury and deep poverty. Ultimate scorecard: 38%,” He posted.
He further stated that a law be passed to prohibit politicians who have performed poorly from receiving ex-gratia payments, arguing that their performance does not justify such emoluments.
“We must pass a law that bans politicians who fail from getting such emoluments. Alas, everyone lives at the expense of the state. Hope John Dramani Mahama keeps his word that he will cancel ex-gratia!” he added.
Franklin Cudjoe’s comments come in the wake of reports about closed-door discussions in Parliament regarding ex-gratia payments for Article 71 officeholders.
These individuals include top officials such as the President, Vice President, Speaker of Parliament, Deputy Speakers, Members of Parliament (MPs), as well as the Chief Justice, justices of the Superior Courts, the Auditor-General, Ministers, Deputy Ministers, and members of the Council of State.

So Parliament is discussing ex-gratia for Article 71 holders behind close doors? They had better remind themselves that almost all the receipients performed abysmally- recklessly borrowed us into a debt iceberg, junked our economy and rendered close to a million Ghanaians…
Blakk Cedi, former manager of Stonebwoy, is making the headlines for working with Shatta Wale’s team during the recent “Freedom Street” concert in Jamaica, hosted by dancehall icon Vybz Kartel.
Blakk Cedi, who had largely kept a low profile since his 2019 fallout with Stonebwoy, joined Shatta Wale’s entourage for the international event.
Following the concert, he penned a heartfelt message of gratitude to Shatta Wale, praising his respect, trust, and work ethic during their collaboration.
“It was an honour to step in and contribute to your vision,” Blakk Cedi wrote on social media. “Your unwavering respect, trust, and love throughout this process truly humbled me,” he added.
His involvement with Shatta Wale sparked mixed reactions online. Some supporters of Stonebwoy accused Blakk Cedi of betrayal, given his close past ties to the Burniton boss. Others lauded his maturity and ability to work across rival camps, emphasizing the importance of professionalism in the industry.
Blakk Cedi and Stonebwoy parted ways in 2019 due to undisclosed internal disputes within the Burniton Group. The split ended a longstanding personal and professional bond, with Blakk Cedi having been one of Stonebwoy’s most trusted allies.
Despite the backlash from certain quarters, Blakk Cedi expressed his pride in supporting Shatta Wale’s artistry and wished him continued success, concluding his message with “1 Perfect Love.”
This development highlights Blakk Cedi’s evolving career as he continues to entrench his influence in Ghana’s music industry.
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has shed light on its decision to appoint former Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Mike Oquaye, as the chairman of the 2024 Probe Committee.
The committee, tasked with conducting a post-mortem on the party’s defeat in the 2024 presidential and parliamentary elections, comprises 12 members, including Prof. Yaa Ntiamoa-Baidu, Prof. Kofi Osei Akuoko, and Dr. Felix Yamoah.
According to the NPP, Prof. Oquaye’s rich institutional memory and experience made him an ideal candidate to lead the committee.
His role will involve carrying out an assessment and review of the party’s constitution, particularly in relation to electoral college and polling station elections, as well as the roles of party officers.
A sub-committee, comprising Dr. Joseph Agyapong Darmoe, Lawyer Seidu Nasigiri, and Abdulai Abanga, among others, will serve as the fact-finding team.
This team will visit all 276 constituencies to gather data on the causes of the party’s defeat.
The data collected will be incorporated into the main committee’s report, providing a comprehensive document for the party to work with.
The party yesterday at Alisa Hotel, Accra, constituted the committee, which is expected to submit a comprehensive report to the party within three months, which will serve as a foundation for the party’s reflection, rebuilding, and restructuring efforts.
However, the NPP has assured its members and stakeholders that the committee’s chair and members can carry out a thorough job that will best serve the party’s interests.
The party has also implored all stakeholders to cooperate with the Review Committee and provide the necessary support and assistance.
Ghana’s President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, is set to deliver his final State of the Nation address today, January 3, 2024.
This key constitutional event, outlined in Article 67 of the 1992 constitution, marks the end of his tenure as he prepares to vacate office.
The address, scheduled to take place in Parliament at 10 am, will offer a comprehensive overview of the nation’s current state, particularly focusing on the economy. As per tradition, President Akufo-Addo is expected to reflect on his leadership, providing a detailed account of the country’s progress under his administration. This speech is poised to highlight achievements, challenges, and the trajectory Ghana is expected to take moving forward.
With the president’s tenure drawing to a close, many will be looking for insights into how his policies have shaped the national landscape, setting the stage for the incoming leadership. The event is expected to be a significant moment in Ghana’s political calendar as the country transitions to a new phase.
ACCRA – Ghana’s parliament has passed a provisional budget that allows the government to spend 68.1 billion Ghanaian cedis ($4.65 billion) through March, the chamber’s speaker said, narrowly averting an unprecedented government shutdown.
Parliamentary Speaker Alban Bagbin said the parliament had approved the provisional budget in a sitting that stretched deep into Thursday night.
John Dramani Mahama is set to take office as the West African country’s president next week after winning a Dec. 7 election, staging a political comeback after serving as Ghana’s president from 2012 to 2016.
Outgoing President Nana Akufo-Addo was due to present his last state of the nation address later on Friday after eight years leading the gold- and oil-exporting nation.
A provisional budget is typically passed in November during election years to cover the gap until the president-elect takes office.
But the presentation of the provisional budget had dragged this time after an impasse over whether the outgoing New Patriotic Party (NPP) or the incoming National Democratic Congress (NDC) party has a majority of seats in the House.
Finance Minister Mohammed Amin Adam told the joint business and finance committees the late passage of the provisional budget would not affect government business.
“It averts a government shutdown and (the) likelihood of worsening Ghana’s ongoing debt default saga,” Seth Terkper, a former finance minister, told Reuters.
Almost a third of the approved amount is earmarked for payments to energy-sector service providers, according to the provisional budget.
Mahama, the president-elect, said last month that Ghana was going to face a critical situation in the energy sector, adding that preliminary estimates showed that arrears exceeded $2.5 billion at a time when the power supply was erratic.
Mahama, who contested the election as the main opposition leader, is returning to power amid an economic resurgence from Ghana’s worst crisis in a generation. REUTERS

Ernest Kumi has been announced as the Member of Parliament (MP)-elect for the Akwatia constituency
The Koforidua High Court has issued an injunction preventing Ernest Kumi from being sworn in as the Member of Parliament (MP)-elect for the Akwatia constituency, as reported by citinewsroom.com.
This ruling comes in response to a lawsuit filed by Henry Boakye Yiadom, the National Democratic Congress (NDC) parliamentary candidate, against the Electoral Commission (EC), Ernest Kumi, and the Clerk of Parliament.
Yiadom’s legal action seeks to delay Ernest Kumi’s swearing-in until the case is resolved.
The Akwatia constituency was among the contested seats in the 2024 general election, with the results re-collated and declared by the EC at the National Police Training School in Tesano.
Following the final collation, the EC declared Ernest Kumi of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the winner with 19,269 votes, while Henry Boakye-Yiadom received 17,206 votes.
After reviewing the case, the court granted the injunction, halting Kumi’s assumption of the role of MP-elect for Akwatia until further notice.
Former Arsenal midfielder Adrian Clarke has put forward a bold suggestion for how the club could fill the void left by Bukayo Saka’s injury, with Ghanaian international Mohammed Kudus being the ideal candidate to step into the role.
Saka was forced off with an injury during Arsenal’s 5-1 victory over Crystal Palace on Saturday, December 21, 2024.
The England winger limped off in the first half and was later seen leaving Selhurst Park on crutches, with reports indicating he could be sidelined for several weeks.
With forward Raheem Sterling also out due to an injury sustained in training, Arsenal now faces a shortage on the wings.
This has led Clarke to suggest that the Gunners should make a move for Kudus, who he believes could be the perfect replacement for Saka.
Speaking in an interview with talkSPORT, Clarke said, “Kudus is a player Arsenal have shown long-term interest in. He’s an ideal replacement for Bukayo Saka and can contribute up front as well. He’s a brilliant dribbler and a wonderful ball carrier. Could Arsenal test West Ham’s resolve with a bid this month?”
Since arriving in England, Kudus, 24, has made 61 appearances for West Ham, scoring 17 goals.
His impressive performances have caught the eye of several top clubs, all vying for his signature.
Simone Biles has once again proven why she is a global icon. The 27-year-old gymnast was crowned Sports Illustrated’s 2024 Sportsperson of the Year.
This follows her breathtaking performance at the Paris Olympics.
SIMONE BILES’ COMEBACK AT THE 2024 OLYMPICS
Biles secured three gold medals and one silver, cementing her legacy as the most decorated gymnast of all time, according to Sportskeeda.
With 11 Olympic medals and 30 World Championship titles, her achievements speak for themselves.
The announcement on 2 January praised Biles for transforming gymnastics and sparking change across sports.
SIMONE BILES’ RESILIENCE AND LEADERSHIP
Sports Illustrated highlighted her resilience and leadership. “She continues to speak out about issues that matter to her.
And after facing one of the darkest periods of her career, she returned stronger than ever.”
Biles dazzled the world in Paris last year. Her gold medals in the team event, balance beam, and floor exercise were a testament to her skill and determination.
Her silver in the uneven bars added to her Olympic tally.
THE TOKYO OLYMPICS
South African fans can take inspiration from her comeback, especially after her struggles at the Tokyo Olympics in 2020.
In Tokyo, Biles withdrew from several events due to “the twisties”. This is a condition that disconnects the mind and body mid-air, making routines dangerous, according to Dallas News.
She prioritised her mental health, setting a precedent for athletes worldwide.
Reflecting on that period, Biles said, “The pressure feels heavy… I had to focus on my mental well-being.”
Her triumph in Paris wasn’t just about medals. It symbolised resilience, proving that setbacks can lead to greater success.
SIMONE BILES AND GYMNASTICS
Biles described her latest accolade as “a huge honour.”
Speaking to Good Morning America, she admitted she was shocked by the recognition.
“I know people love gymnastics during Olympic years, but I was still surprised,” she said. She hopes this award will keep gymnastics in the spotlight.
Her humility is part of her charm. Despite being the face of gymnastics, she remains grounded. “I’m always shocked when I win awards or receive honours,” she added.
THE CEREMONY
Biles will accept her award at a glittering ceremony on 7 January at the Wynn Hotel in Las Vegas, according to ABC.
Hosted by comedian Keegan-Michael Key, the event promises to celebrate her achievements in style.
This honour will join her already staggering collection of accolades.
Away from the gym, Biles shares a glamorous life with her husband, Jonathan Owens.
SIMONE BILES’ MARRIED LIFE
Owens, a safety for the Chicago Bears, met Biles on the Raya dating app during the COVID-19 pandemic.
The couple married twice in 2023—first in a quiet courthouse ceremony in Houston, and later in a stunning beach wedding in Cabo San Lucas.
Biles wore a gown by Galia Lahav, while Owens donned a custom Adam Ross Leibold suit.
Their love story is a reminder that even the world’s greatest athletes find time for romance.
OVERCOMING ADVERSITY
South African athletes and fans can draw lessons from Biles’ journey.
Her ability to overcome adversity, advocate for mental health, and excel under pressure is a beacon of hope.
With her latest honour, she proves that greatness is about more than medals—it’s about heart and resilience.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) has formed an 11-member committee to probe its loss in the 2024 general elections.
Chaired by former Speaker of Parliament, Prof. Mike Oquaye, the committee is tasked with analyzing the factors behind the party’s defeat and proposing solutions to strengthen its future prospects, as reported by Citi Newsroom.
According to NPP General Secretary Justin Frimpong Kodua, the committee has been given a three-month mandate to review internal party elections, evaluate campaign strategies, and identify key challenges that contributed to the loss.
The findings will be presented to the party’s National Council for consideration and action.
The 2024 elections marked a significant political shift, with former President John Dramani Mahama reclaiming the presidency after securing a decisive victory over the NPP’s candidate, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
The Electoral Commission (EC) announced on December 9 that Mahama garnered 6,328,397 votes, representing 56.55% of the valid votes cast. In contrast, Bawumia received 4,657,304 votes, or 41.61%.
Mahama’s victory was accompanied by substantial gains for the National Democratic Congress (NDC), which secured a majority in Parliament.
Over 180 parliamentary seats have been confirmed for the NDC, including constituencies that were previously strongholds of the NPP.
This outcome not only bolsters Mahama’s mandate but also positions the NDC with significant legislative power as he prepares to assume office.
The NPP’s loss has raised concerns about its campaign approach and internal dynamics. The establishment of the committee reflects the party’s commitment to introspection and rebuilding.
By identifying areas for improvement, the NPP aims to regain political strength and address voter concerns ahead of future elections.
Prof. Oquaye’s leadership of the committee brings extensive political experience and insight to the task.
His role will be crucial in ensuring a thorough examination of the issues that contributed to the party’s performance in the 2024 elections.
The committee’s work is expected to set the foundation for strategic reforms within the NPP as it seeks to recover from this significant electoral setback. The findings and recommendations from the investigation will likely shape the party’s approach to re-engaging with voters and rebuilding its political momentum.
The National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) has successfully disbursed GH¢270 million to healthcare providers nationwide to cover claims submitted and vetted up to October 2024 and part of November 2024.
In a statement signed on January 3, Dr Da-Costa Aboagye, Chief Executive of NHIA, said the payments are within the agreed-upon three-month reimbursement period and currently has no outstanding vetted claims to pay.
“This latest payment brings the total amount released by the NHIA over the past four months to over GH¢1.2 billion, reinforcing the Authority’s ongoing commitment to supporting healthcare providers and ensuring the sustainability of the NHIS.”
Dr Da-Costa Aboagye urged NHIA healthcare facilities to submit their claims promptly, as claims should not cover a period exceeding 90 days.
In addition to this current payment, the NHIA has also made significant disbursements in recent months. On December 1, 2024, the NHIA released GH¢200 million for claims covering September and part of October 2024, following an earlier disbursement of over GH¢335 million on October 9, 2024, for claims related to August 2024.
In September 2024, the NHIA began disbursing GH¢402 million to health facilities to cover claims for June and July 2024. These payments demonstrate the Authority’s dedication to fulfilling its financial obligations to healthcare providers and strengthening the healthcare sector for the benefit of all Ghanaians.

From Shuja Asad to Sehar Khan, these stars really made a mark this year and cemented their places in fans’ hearts.
It’s always refreshing to see emerging talent make its mark in the television industry, especially when they introduce a fresh perspective and bring dynamic energy on-screen.
The heart of a democracy lies in its promise of transparency and accountability. Yet, Ghana’s Parliament has opted for opacity in deliberating the controversial emoluments and ex gratia payments for Article 71 officeholders.
The current compensation arrangements for Article 71 officeholders—enshrined in Ghana’s 1992 Constitution—remain very contentious.
FIFA has unveiled the official list of Ghanaian referees approved to officiate international matches for the 2025 calendar year. The list comprises 10 Center Referees, 10 Assistant Referees, one Futsal Referee, one Beach Soccer Referee, and one Video Assistant Referee (VAR).
In accordance with FIFA regulations, it is mandatory for each Member Association (MA) to propose new referees or renew the appointments of existing ones on the FIFA list annually. The selection process involves rigorous requirements, including successful completion of FIFA-approved fitness and medical tests.
The Referees Committee of the Association oversees the nomination process, ensuring that all candidates meet FIFA’s eligibility criteria. Once the nominations are finalized, the list is submitted to the Executive Council for approval before being forwarded to FIFA for final validation. FIFA retains the authority to reject any nominee who fails to meet the stipulated standards.
Approved referees earn their FIFA badges for the calendar year, from January to December.
Their re-nomination for subsequent years depends on their performance and other considerations deemed necessary by the GFA. It is important to note that the FIFA badge remains the exclusive property of the Member Association, not the individual referee.
This announcement underscores the importance of maintaining high standards in officiating, as these referees will represent Ghana on the global stage. The approved referees now have the responsibility to uphold the integrity of the game and showcase the quality of Ghanaian officiating in international competitions.
This development highlights FIFA’s commitment to ensuring the best officials are selected and signals an opportunity for the nominated referees to excel in their respective roles.
Attached herein is the list of officials approved by FIFA.
The Ghana Water Limited (GWL) has announced the shutdown of the Bonsa Headworks, which supplies 75% of potable water to the Tarkwa-Nsueam Municipality in the Western Region.
This decision, according to GWL, is due to the severe impact of illegal mining activities, commonly referred to as “galamsey,” on the Bonsa River, rendering it impossible to extract and treat water for distribution.
In a statement dated January 2, 2025, and signed by Wisdom Doe Akoto, the Tarkwa District Manager of GWL, the company noted that all efforts to curb the pollution caused by galamsey activities have proven unsuccessful, leaving no choice but to suspend operations at the facility.
GWL expressed concern over the persistent pollution and called on stakeholders, including local authorities and security agencies, to take decisive action to address the issue and restore the river’s quality.
“We have tried all that we could but to no avail, hence the shutdown. The river is still being monitored for acceptable parameters to enable us to restart production, and until then, the plant remains closed.
“We promise to update the public on any development with regard to the current situation,” he said.
This closure is expected to affect water supply to residents and industries in the municipality, further highlighting the devastating impact of illegal mining on essential resources.
The Bonsa Headworks Plant Manager, Paul Bawa, speaking to Citi News on the shutdown said the situation was necessary as the plant 1982 installed capacity of 1 million gallons per day had been reduced to just about 400,000 gallons per day due to the raw water pollution by “galamsey”.
“The installation capacity is 1 million gallons which is about 5,400 cubic metres but because of the problems over the years from when it was commissioned in 1982, the raw water quality deteriorated and now we are doing three thousand cubic metres which is far below what be doing and the activities have intensified so much that the water is just mud.
“The pumps cannot lift that much for us to pump, then we have to shut down. As at the shutdown we were doing between 1,800 to 2,000 cubic metres and finally, the thing cannot pump so we have to shut down,” he said.

Recent rumors on social media that Ghana’s betting tax has been repealed are untrue. This deceptive remark comes after John Mahama was declared President-Elect, despite the fact that he has yet to be inaugurated into office.
The Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) began withholding 10% of all gambling platform wins in August 2023, following the adoption of the Income Tax (Amendment) Act, 2023 (Act 1094). The levy was implemented as part of a package of measures aimed at increasing gaming sector revenue.
While both leading presidential candidates, John Mahama and Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, promised to abolish the betting tax throughout their campaigns, this pledge has yet to be accomplished. According to Article 174 of the 1992 Constitution, taxes can only be levied, altered, or repealed by an Act of Parliament. No notification has been made to Parliament regarding the abolition of the betting tax.
The Ghana Revenue Authority has likewise not published a statement announcing the removal of the tax. Thus, statements that President-Elect Mahama has eliminated the betting tax are false and deceptive.
Ghanaians are reminded to rely on verifiable information from trustworthy sources to avoid falling victim to fake news. The public is also reminded that policy changes, such as tax cuts, must go through legal channels and be approved by parliament.

The Bonsa Headworks, which provides 75% of the Western Region’s Tarkwa-Nsueam Municipality with drinkable water, is closing, according to a statement from Ghana Water Limited (GWL).
According to GWL, this decision was made because of the detrimental effects of illicit mining operations, often known as “galamsey,” on the Bonsa River, which make it hard to extract and purify water for distribution.
In a January 2, 2025, statement signed by GWL’s Tarkwa District Manager, Wisdom Doe Akoto, the business stated that it had no alternative but to halt operations at the facility because all attempts to reduce the pollution brought on by galamsey activities had failed.
Concerned about the ongoing contamination, GWL urged all parties involved—including local government and security organizations—to move swiftly to resolve the problem and improve the quality of the river.
“The shutdown was necessary because we tried everything we could, but to no effect. The plant stays closed until the river is monitored for suitable criteria that will allow us to resume production.
He declared, “We pledge to keep the public informed of any developments pertaining to the current situation.”
This shutdown is anticipated to have an impact on the municipality’s water supply for businesses and residents, underscoring the disastrous effects of illicit mining on vital resources.
Despite CHASS’s plea to postpone the reopening, the Ghana Education Service (GES) claims the Senior High School reopening date has not changed.
The Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) recently cautioned that the reopening process would be hampered if the financial difficulties affecting the second-cycle schools are not resolved by January 3, 2025.
In a statement released just days ago, it went on to strongly caution against the reopening of schools.
Nonetheless, nothing has changed, according to a statement released by the Ghana Education Service (GES) on Thursday, January 2, one day prior to the reopening date. According to the statement, the academic calendar for 2024–2025 will go on as planned.
The GES informed parents, students, staff, and the public at large that the academic schedule has not changed.
Primary and junior high school students are scheduled to begin studies on January 8, 2025, while senior high school (SHS) students are anticipated to return on January 3, 2025, according to the official announcement.
The administration of GES also stated that they are actively working with the Ministry of Education to resolve the issues brought up by the Conference of Heads of Assisted Secondary Schools (CHASS) management.
According to the GES, it is striving for a prompt resolution of these issues in order to guarantee a seamless start to the school year.
It called on all parties involved to remember these crucial dates and make the required preparations in order to get ready for the start of the upcoming school year.
The statement underlined the significance of following the schedule in order to guarantee a successful reopening of schools nationwide.

Former Black Stars captain Asamoah Gyan has reflected on his illustrious career, shedding light on the internal challenges he faced within the national team camp.
During an Instagram live session on Thursday, December 2, 2025, Gyan revealed a disturbing plot that sought to undermine his authority.
The former Sunderland striker shared how, during his tenure as captain, certain individuals within the team worked to sabotage his influence on younger players.
According to Gyan, his reputation initially endeared him to new players, who would eagerly seek his guidance.
However, within days, their behavior would change, and they would begin to avoid him.
“The kids would come into the team, all excited to see me, but then three days later, they would avoid me because they had been brainwashed,” he said.
Gyan further explained how these incidents cost him the respect of the younger players and impacted the team’s performance after his departure.
“People brainwashed the kids against me, so they didn’t respect me. After my departure, you can see the effect. Go back and look at the kids who were brainwashed—where are they now?” he questioned.
The retired striker remains Ghana’s all-time leading scorer with 51 goals in 109 appearances. His six goals at the FIFA World Cup make him the highest-scoring African player in the tournament’s history.
In June 2023, Gyan officially retired from professional football after an illustrious 18-year career.
Getting older has a few perks — wisdom, greater perspective on life and senior discounts among them — but most of us associate aging with the harsh reality of wrinkles, joint problems and a decline in intimate performance.
Even though intimate activity does tend to decline with age, the link between age and intimacy dysfunction isn’t as strong as you might think — and the reality might not be so harsh. It’s often possible to maintain your swagger well into old age, as long as you adopt good behaviors and habits when you’re younger.
Below, we’ve looked at the science behind aging and intimacy to explain when most men start to experience a decline in their performance and incline in instances of dysfunction.
We’ve also shared a few actionable tips that you can use to maintain a healthy, enjoyable intimate life in your 60s, 70s and beyond.
When Do Men Stop Making Love?
Since male drive and physical health can vary hugely from person to person, there’s no specific age at which most men give up on intimacy. There’s also no real answer to the question, “What age does a man stop getting hard?”
That’s right, fellas. Don’t let the “old men making love is weird” or “old people making love is a myth” comments bother you — they’re nonsense.
However, research suggests that most men stop making love around 75 to 85 years of age.
In a 2010 study conducted by the University of Chicago, researchers looked at the link between age and intimate activity in men and women throughout the United States.
The study used data sourced from large-scale surveys of the US population and found that 38.9 percent of men between 75 to 85 years of age remained intimately active.
It also noted that 70.8 percent of intimately active men reported that they had a “good quality” intimate life. Good on ya, gents!
Interestingly, the men who reported being in either very good or excellent health were more likely than their peers to maintain a high level of interest in intimacy, which helps confirm that keeping up with your health as you age is crucial for more than just living longer.
In short, most men remain well into retirement age, with the majority of intimately active senior men happy with their intimate lives.
Male Libido and Age
Libido tends to decrease with age in men and women. Part of this is due to natural changes in your production of testosterone that occur as you get old, but there are a few other key factors that contribute, as well:
Testosterone Levels
Medical Conditions
Medications
Mental Health
Testosterone Levels
Testosterone is responsible for the pitch of your voice and the amount of muscle mass on your frame, and most importantly for regulating your intimacy drive.
It’s normal for your testosterone production to slowly decline as you age. Most men begin to produce less testosterone after age 30, with testosterone production dropping by about one percent every year.
FYI: Women experience a similar drop in hormone levels, with estrogen production declining after menopause. Who needs his and hers bathroom towels when you can have his and hers hormonal chaos, right?
Medical Conditions
Fellas, it’s a natural part of life — as we get older, we stop being as spry as we used to be. Medical conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and others become more prevalent, and some of them can — and do — have a negative effect on performance and libido.
Medications
Certain medications used to treat age-related issues — like blood pressure medications or antidepressants — can also affect your intimacy drive. Check the side effects of your current medications and ask a healthcare provider questions about what libido issues you might experience.
Mental Health
Finally, your mental health is important (and not just for your libido, but definitely for your libido). Mental health conditions such as depression, anxiety, and stress — which often develop in middle age or later in life — can also have a negative effect on your desire. (Learn more at Senior Intimacy: Tips for Older Men)
Can a 50+ Year-Old Man Be Intimately Active? Our Best Tips
While it’s normal to experience some amount of slowdown in your desire as you grow older, entering your 60s, 70s or even your 80s doesn’t mean that you need to throw in the towel.
It’s absolutely possible to enjoy satisfying relationships well into old age by doing the following:
Below, we’ve explained how.
Maintain a Healthy Lifestyle
When it comes to staying Intimately active as you grow older, good physical health usually equals good healthy desire.
Simple things like exercising regularly, eating a balanced diet, getting good sleep each night and treating sleep issues like sleep apnea and avoiding unhealthy habits such as drinking alcohol excessively all have a positive impact on your health and ability to maintain a healthy intimate life in your 60s and 70s.
Use ED Medication
ED can affect men of all ages, but it’s particularly common in the older crowd.
In fact, research suggests that men have about a 40 percent risk of developing some form of ED in their 40s, with this risk increasing by 10 percent with each additional decade.
Modern ED medication is the route that most men take because it can make it easy to maintain getting hard.
Popular medications for treating ED include:
Used before intimacy, these medications make it easier to get and maintain hard, allowing you some solid hanky-panky without having to worry about ED.
There’s also some new evidence that suggests that certain ED meds are associated with a decreased risk of heart attack, stroke, and overall mortality — just another reason to talk to a healthcare provider and see if they’re right for you. (Learn more at ED Cures for Seniors: How to Get Hard at 65+)
Treat Any Underlying Medical Issues
Many intimacy performance issues that affect older men are either directly caused or made worse by chronic health conditions, including:
High blood pressure
Cardiovascular disease
Type 2 diabetes
Obesity and sleep apnea
If you have a chronic disease or other health issues that could affect your intimacy function, make sure to treat it — ideally with your healthcare provider’s support.
It’s also important to take a proactive approach to check for age-related medical issues (like prostate cancer if you’re between the ages of 55 and 69) that could affect your performance and quality of life.
By being proactive about your health, you’ll be able to deal with issues as they arise and maintain good health and performance at any age.

The statutory public holidays for 2025 include:
1. New Year’s Day: January 1 (Wednesday)

Lace gowns have long been a symbol of elegance, sophistication, and femininity in fashion. In recent years, lace has made a major comeback in modern designs, offering a beautiful mix of intricate detailing and contemporary silhouettes. Whether for a wedding, a gala, or a special evening event, lace gowns provide a stunning look that combines timeless appeal with current trends. From intricate full lace designs to delicate lace accents, there are now a variety of styles to suit every occasion.
1. Full Lace Gowns
Full lace gowns remain a classic choice, offering a delicate and luxurious feel. These gowns often feature all-over lace patterns, from floral to geometric designs, providing a rich and textured look. Modern variations include lace gowns with sheer panels, allowing for a peek of skin while maintaining a graceful and sophisticated aesthetic. The addition of lining in strategic areas ensures comfort and coverage, making these gowns ideal for formal occasions like weddings or galas.
2. Lace and Satin Combo
The combination of lace with satin or silk is a popular trend, blending the softness of satin with the intricate beauty of lace. Satin skirts or bodices paired with lace overlays create a smooth yet textured look that radiates luxury. These gowns often feature lace detailing around the neckline, sleeves, or hemline, adding a subtle touch of elegance while keeping the overall appearance sleek and modern. Perfect for evening wear, these gowns are often seen in rich jewel tones or soft pastels.
3. Sheer Lace Accents
Another trend in lace gowns is the use of sheer lace accents. These gowns incorporate lace in sections such as the neckline, sleeves, or back, offering a hint of sensuality without being overly revealing. Sheer lace panels on the sides or along the back create a stunning effect, adding depth and dimension to the gown while allowing for a more breathable and light look. This style is perfect for those looking for a balance between elegance and modern flair.
4. Off-the-Shoulder Lace Gowns
Off-the-shoulder designs have become a popular choice in lace gowns, showcasing a woman’s neckline and shoulders in a graceful and alluring way. The lace fabric often covers the bodice, while the open neckline creates a feminine and flattering silhouette. This style is perfect for weddings, evening events, or cocktail parties, offering a refined yet bold look that highlights the beauty of both the lace and the wearer.
5. Lace Fit-and-Flare Gowns
Fit-and-flare lace gowns offer a flattering shape that accentuates the waist while allowing freedom of movement. The fitted bodice, often adorned with lace, transitions into a flared skirt, creating a feminine and flattering silhouette. These gowns often incorporate lace at the hem or in layers, adding volume and texture to the skirt while keeping the top portion sleek and structured. This style is perfect for women who want a gown that combines elegance with comfort.
6. Lace with Embellishments
To add a modern twist to classic lace designs, many designers are now incorporating embellishments like sequins, beads, or pearls into lace gowns. These additions bring an element of glamour and sparkle, making lace gowns perfect for special occasions or evening events. The combination of lace and embellishments creates a captivating visual effect, adding both texture and shine to the gown.
Conclusion
The new beautiful lace gown styles for ladies offer a variety of options for every occasion, from classic full lace designs to modern combinations with satin, sheer panels, and embellishments. Lace continues to be a timeless fabric that brings elegance, romance, and sophistication to any gown, ensuring that every woman feels special and confident in her look. Whether you’re attending a wedding, a gala, or an evening event, there’s a lace gown style that will make you shine.
