I want a wealthy man with no baby mama drama

Tiwa Savage is a Nigerian musician Tiwa Savage is a Nigerian musician

Nigerian ‘Afrobeats queen,’ Tiwa Savage, who has been divorced since 2018 has stated that her love life is on pause, and she is blaming it on her sky-high standards.

In an interview on Apple Music 1, the singer spoke about her 2023 hit ‘Somebody’s Son’ and the kind of man she hopes to find.

The musician admitted that she is searching for love but will not compromise on her expectations, which include wealth, stability, and a life free of unnecessary drama.

I don’t think love is for me in this lifetime – Tiwa Savage

Tiwa Savage noted that she wants a man who already lives a luxurious lifestyle and is emotionally uncomplicated, explaining that she cannot handle a partner with unresolved family issues, especially involving children from previous relationships.

“I’m still looking for someone’s son. I don’t have any [partner]. And I think it is because I’m asking for specific things. Maybe I need to narrow my search down. I’m actually looking for someone who has a private plane, yacht; someone who doesn’t have baby mama drama because I can’t deal with that. Maybe that’s my problem,” she said.

Losing my dad and ‘adult’ tape leak was the lowest point of my career – Tiwa Savage

Her comments came after she disclosed in another interview with Zeze Mills that the only true love she has ever experienced is with her son, Jamil.

Looking back on her past relationships, the singer admitted that what she once thought was love was actually just infatuation.

“I’ve never felt true love except with my son. Looking back at my relationships, even my marriage, I realise it wasn’t love,” she said.

Tiwa Savage, who has spoken about her struggles in love before, also expressed doubt that she will ever find lasting romance.

“I’ve tried repeatedly, so maybe love isn’t meant for me in this lifetime. Maybe love isn’t for me because I have tried over and over again, so maybe love isn’t for me this lifetime,” she stated.

The singer married Tunji ‘TeeBillz’ Balogun in 2013, and they welcomed their son Jamil in 2015 but the couple divorced in 2018 and since then, Savage has remained single.

Brazil’s Stephanie Balduccini and Guilherme Caribe have been tagged as the new rising stars in the game at the 2025 Junior Pan American Games swimming competition in Asunción, Paraguay, after their electrifying performances.

Balduccini won her 7th gold medal of the meet, tying for first in the women’s 50 freestyle and anchoring Brazil’s winning 4x200m freestyle relay, while Caribe blazed to a junior Pan American record in the men’s 50 freestyle with a stunning 21.72.

Their exploits highlighted Brazil’s dominance, with the nation amassing 20 golds on the swimming medal table.

Stephanie Balduccini, the Michigan-trained Brazilian standout, continued her remarkable campaign at the Junior Pan American Games, securing her 6th and 7th gold medals on August 13, 2025.

In the women’s 50 freestyle, she tied with Colombia’s Isabella Bedoya at 25.42, sharing a junior Pan American record in a thrilling dead-heat finish.

Nollywood Actor Nosa Rex Issues Public Apology to Ghanaians After Controversial Piracy Outburst

0

Nigerian actor and filmmaker Nosa Rex has publicly apologised to Ghanaians following a heated video rant that sparked widespread criticism across social media platforms.

The controversy began on 12 August 2025 when Nosa Rex accused several Ghanaian television stations of broadcasting his latest film “Prince of Peace” without permission, just six hours after its YouTube release. In his initial video response, the Nollywood star launched into an angry tirade, hurling insults and curses at the alleged perpetrators.

The actor’s harsh words quickly went viral, drawing sharp criticism from both Ghanaians and Nigerians who felt his approach was inappropriate and disrespectful. Media personality Robert Klah was among those who publicly condemned Nosa Rex’s outburst, describing his behaviour as unprofessional.

Facing mounting pressure and backlash, Nosa Rex returned to social media to issue a heartfelt apology. He clarified that his words were never intended to insult the people of Ghana and expressed regret for the manner in which he handled the situation.

The incident highlights a growing concern within the film industry regarding unauthorised broadcasting of movies. This is not an isolated case, as other prominent Nollywood figures including Omoni Oboli, Bimbo Ademoye, and Ruth Kadiri have previously raised similar complaints about Ghanaian television stations.

Industry experts suggest that unauthorised broadcasting is significantly damaging the African film sector, discouraging investment in quality productions and undermining creators’ ability to profit from their work. The practice affects both emerging and established filmmakers who rely on legitimate distribution channels to recoup production costs.

Nosa Rex’s apology appears to be an attempt to mend relations with his Ghanaian audience whilst drawing attention to the serious issue of film piracy. The actor acknowledged that whilst his frustration was understandable, his method of expressing it was wrong.

The entertainment industry continues to grapple with piracy challenges, requiring better collaboration between content creators and television stations to establish proper licensing agreements and protect intellectual property rights.

Every bride dreams of a stunning traditional wedding that combines modern flair with timeless elegance. While sticking to traditional customs and rituals, adding a modern twist to your bridal beauty look can truly elevate your overall appearance on your special day. Here are some tips on how to add a modern twist to your traditional bridal beauty look:

1. Bold Lips: Instead of sticking to the traditional nude or soft pink lip color, consider opting for a bold lip shade like red, berry, or even a deep plum. A bold lip color can add a modern touch to your look and make a statement as you walk down the aisle.

2. Sleek Hairstyle: While traditional bridal hairstyles like buns, braids, or cascading curls are timeless, consider opting for a sleek and modern hairstyle. A sleek low bun, a polished ponytail, or a chic chignon can give you a modern and sophisticated look that complements your traditional attire.

3. Statement Earrings: Traditional bridal jewelry often includes delicate pieces like pearls or gold jewelry. To add a modern twist, consider wearing statement earrings that are bold and eye-catching. Opt for oversized hoops, chandelier earrings, or geometric designs to add a contemporary touch to your bridal ensemble.

4. Smoky Eyes: While soft and subtle eye makeup is a common choice for traditional brides, a smoky eye look can add drama and intensity to your bridal beauty look. Consider incorporating shades of gray, charcoal, or plum to create a sultry and modern smoky eye that will make your eyes pop in photos.

5. Dewy Skin: Instead of a matte finish, opt for a dewy and glowing complexion to add a modern and fresh touch to your bridal makeup. Use illuminating primers, highlighters, and hydrating setting sprays to achieve a luminous and radiant look that will make you glow on your wedding day.

By incorporating these modern beauty trends into your traditional bridal look, you can create a stylish and sophisticated appearance that is both timeless and on-trend. Embrace your individual style and personality to create a bridal beauty look that is uniquely you, blending tradition with modernity in a harmonious and elegant way on your special day.

Ghanaians ‘running on a treadmill’ as growth fails to deliver quality jobs — World Bank – Citinewsroom – Comprehensive News in Ghana

0

Ghana’s economy is expanding, but much of its workforce is “running on a treadmill”, that is shifting between jobs without significant improvement in income or security.

This is according to the World Bank’s latest Ghana Economic Update.

Between 2012 and 2023, the country added 720,000 jobs in industry and services but shed 470,000 in agriculture. Urban areas absorbed 2.4 million more working-age people, yet real wages fell by 3% over the decade.

The Bank says job creation is lagging behind population growth, youth participation in the workforce is declining, and about one million young Ghanaians now live abroad.

Medium-skilled sectors such as manufacturing, construction and domestic services — typically drivers of upward mobility remain among the slowest growing.

Education’s ability to lift incomes is also waning, with the supply of graduates increasingly outstripping the availability of quality jobs.

Women remain overrepresented in low-productivity roles and continue to face significant pay and opportunity gaps.

With Ghana’s working-age population projected to grow by 4.8 million to 25.3 million in the next decade, the World Bank is calling for bold reforms to attract private investment, raise productivity and create stronger pathways from education to employment.

Without decisive action, the Bank warns, many Ghanaians will keep “working hard but going nowhere.”

Farewell, our patriots – Graphic Online

0

Under the weight of collective grief, Ghana will gather at the Black Star Square today to bid a final, dignified farewell to the remaining six of the eight patriots whose lives were tragically cut short on August 6, 2025 in the military helicopter crash.

The state funeral, set for 8:00 a.m., represents not just a ceremony, but a national embrace of families shattered by loss and a testament to unity in heartbreak.

A 90-minute pre-burial service for the six, scheduled to start at 7:30 a.m., will pave the way for relevant rituals towards the burial of the six at the Military Cemetery in Accra, five days after the burials of the Minister of Environment, Science and Technology, Dr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, and the  acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, in accordance with Islamic protocols.

Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Operations, Stanislav Xoese Dogbe, at a media briefing in Accra yesterday, said the military-led ceremony would be conducted with full respect and adherence to protocols, given the expected large crowds.

He also assured of heavy security deployment to ensure law and order.

Mr Dogbe indicated that the Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah, had directed that all donations from institutions to the government in support of the funeral service should be shared equally among the families of the eight deceased persons.

Traffic protocols

On traffic control, the Director of Research, Education and Training at the Police Motor Traffic and Transport Department, Chief Superintendent Alexander Kwaku Obeng, said key access routes leading to the Independence Square would be managed to prevent congestion.

As a gesture of inclusion, the public was invited to contribute tributes for an official state funeral brochure, with submissions closing last Wednesday at noon.

Thousands of messages, from schoolchildren to traditional leaders, flooded the dedicated email ([email protected]), weaving a tapestry of national gratitude.

Eight lights extinguished

The victims, whose coffins will be draped in the national colours, represent a cross-section of Ghana’s dedicated public service and military excellence.

Samuel Sarpong, a former Ashanti Regional Minister and a Vice-Chairman of the governing party, was known for bridge-building, and Samuel Aboagye, a parliamentary candidate in the 2024 elections and a Deputy Coordinator of the National Disaster Management Organisation, praised for grassroots pragmatism, are among the martyred.

Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu, the co-pilot, and Sergeant Ernest Addo-Mensah were the Air Force crew whose vigilance safeguarded countless missions.

Minutes later, it vanished from radar before crashing into the forested hills of Adansi Akrofuom.

A post-impact fire left the victims unrecognisable, necessitating DNA analysis in South Africa for identification, a grim detail underscoring the tragedy’s brutality.

Ghana’s three days of national mourning saw flags fly at half-mast and books of condolence opened at ministries, military facilities and the NDC headquarters.

The global community, including the UN, African Union, UK, Germany, and Pope Leo, expressed solidarity, reflecting the victims’ international stature.

Muslim burial rites for Dr Murtala Muhammed and Alhaji Limuna were conducted last Sunday at Accra’s Military Cemetery, led by the National Chief Imam, Sheikh Osmanu Nuhu Sharubutu.

Their early burial, in accordance with Islamic tradition, deepened the week’s emotional gravity.

As families seek closure, President John Dramani Mahama confirmed that a transparent military investigation was underway, with the recovered flight recorder, commonly called black box, pivotal to understanding the crash.

Petrol, LPG prices to rise as diesel goes down from August 16 – Citinewsroom – Comprehensive News in Ghana

0

Fuel prices in Ghana are set for a mixed adjustment in the second pricing window of August, with petrol and liquefied petroleum gas (LPG) expected to edge up, while diesel sees a marginal drop.

The Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC) projects petrol prices at the pump will rise between 0.39% and 2.71%, with LPG increasing by 0.15% to 2.34%.

Diesel, however, is forecast to decline slightly by 0.21% to 0.72% from August 16.

COMAC attributes the shifts to varied trends in global petroleum product prices, a marginal depreciation of the cedi against the US dollar and product-specific supply and demand dynamics.

“Following the slight dip in crude prices, diesel fell sharply by 5.22%, while petrol and LPG rose marginally by 1.89% and 2.87%, likely due to product-specific demand and supply factors.

“For 1st August 2025 pricing window (based on average exchange rates from 27th July to 12th Aug), the Ghanaian cedi experienced a slight depreciation against the US dollar. The rate shifted from GHS 10.68 to GHS 10.77, reflecting a 0.87% decline,” part of the statement read.

During the review period, Brent crude fell 0.23% from $70.42 to $70.26 per barrel, weighed down by higher production from OPEC+ and non-OPEC producers, softer futures market sentiment and reduced speculative positions.

Diesel prices saw a sharper global drop of 5.22%, while petrol and LPG rose 1.89% and 2.87% respectively.

The cedi also weakened slightly against the dollar, sliding 0.87% from GHS 10.68 to GHS 10.77 per dollar, adding mild upward pressure on import costs.

COMAC noted that the projected pump prices broadly align with prevailing global market trends, with only minimal increases anticipated for petrol and LPG in the upcoming window.

“I hope Mahama will eradicate galamsey” – Son of late NDC Vice Chair

0

The son of late National Democratic Congress (NDC) Vice Chairman, Samuel Sarpong Jr, has urged President John Dramani Mahama to eradicate illegal mining popularly known as galamsey.

According to Samuel Sarpong Jnr, his father, Dr Samuel Sarpong, never liked galamsey.

Samuel Sarpong Jnr made this appeal on Wednesday, August 13, when he laid flowers in honour of his late father and seven others who died in the Adansi helicopter crash.

AWLN calls for immediate end to galamsey menace

0

The African Women Leaders Network (AWLN) Ghana Chapter, has expressed worry about the devastating impact of illegal mining (galamsey) and called for its immediate end, describing it as a menace the country has “no reason to continue.”

The network emphasised that the practice had caused extensive environmental destruction, ruined livelihoods, and led to needless loss of lives, including children born with deformities due to polluted water and women risking their lives in unsafe mining conditions.

The call was made yesterday in Accra when the group laid a wreath in honour of the eight victims of the August 6, military helicopter crash in the Adansi area of the Ashanti Region.

The tragedy claimed the lives of prominent Ghanaians, including Defence Minister Dr Edward Omane Boamah; Minister for Environment, Science, Technology and Innovation, Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed; Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator Limuna Mohammed Muniru; Vice-Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Sarpong; former parliamentary candidate Samuel Aboagye; and three Ghana Air Force crew members Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Manaen Twum Ampadu, and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

Speaking on behalf of the network, AWLN Ghana Chapter Chairperson, Dr Charity Binka, indicated that, “We have come to honour the departed for the sacrifice they made. Their blood should speak loudly that enough is enough. This illegal mining in our country must stop. We have no reason to continue.”

“AWLN mourns with President John Dramani Mahama, the bereaved families, and the people of Ghana,” she added.

The AWLN, which works to amplify the voices of women leaders in promoting peace, development, and human rights across Africa, said the loss of such distinguished national figures was a stark reminder of the urgent need to act against galamsey.

The Resource Mobilisation Chairperson of AWLN Ghana Chapter, Hajia Hamdatu Ibrahim Hussain, also mentioned that women and children suffer the most during national tragedies and welcomed President Mahama’s announcement of an endowment fund to support the children left behind.

“It is heartbreaking that a child will grow up only to be told that their father died in a plane crash. We mourn with the President, the nation, and especially the women who are now widows with young children,” she underlined.

Naa of Dagbon Kingdom, Naa Hajia Sawuratu Alhassan Tim-Tooni, also a member of the network, offered prayers for the departed, asking Allah to grant them peaceful rest in Jannah and to console the widows and families.

“Once a widow, I know God is always with widows,” she menioned.

The African Women Leaders Network Ghana Chapter reaffirmed its commitment to championing women’s voices in national issues and pledged to continue advocating for the eradication of illegal mining in Ghana.

Ghana’s youth can drive economic growth

0

The World Bank says Ghana’s rapidly growing youth population has the potential to significantly boost the country’s economy, but only if sufficient job opportunities are created.

In its 9th Economic Update for Ghana, titled Addressing Labour Market Challenges and Opportunities in Ghana’s Economic Landscape, the Bank projects a sharp increase in the number of working-age individuals over the next decade.

If these young people can secure quality employment, Ghana could reap substantial economic benefits.

However, without adequate job creation, this demographic advantage could be lost.

The report emphasizes the need to support youth in transitioning from education to employment by equipping them with relevant skills.

“A key focus should be on youth and their transition from school to work, ensuring they have the skills needed for a modern economy to provide strong employment opportunities – essential for realizing the demographic dividend,” the report stated.

Interbank Market: Cedi drops further to GH¢10.80 against the dollar on August 15

It also highlights the importance of enabling workers to move into higher-paying sectors, particularly agriculture and agro-processing, which hold promise for job creation.

Ghana’s economy grew by 5.7% in 2024 and 5.3% in early 2025, but challenges such as high inflation, elevated interest rates, and fiscal constraints persist.

To unlock the potential of its youth, the World Bank recommends that Ghana improve the business environment, address infrastructure gaps, invest in education and skills development, and promote private sector investment in high-employment industries.

Failure to act, the report warns, could mean missing a critical opportunity to harness the power of Ghana’s youth for long-term economic transformation.

Every NDC member is a potential human sacrifice due to Asiedu Nketiah’s vow – Kwamena Duncan

Johnson Asiedu Nketiah (L) and Kwamena Duncan play videoJohnson Asiedu Nketiah (L) and Kwamena Duncan

Former Central Regional Minister, Kwamena Duncan, has alleged that every member of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) is a “potential human sacrifice” due to what he describes as a “standing declaration” made by the party’s chairman, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah.

Speaking on a panel discussion on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo morning show on Thursday, August 14, 2025, Duncan referenced Proverbs 18:21, stating, “Death and life are in the power of the tongue, and those who love it shall eat its fruit.”

He explained that his comment stems from a public statement Asiedu Nketiah allegedly made in the past, in which he said the NDC was ready to sacrifice “anything and everything, including human lives,” for the party’s cause.

“At the time he made that statement, he had the potential to carry it out. When you declare such a thing to the whole world and it still stands unrevoked, it becomes a standing declaration of human sacrifice, which makes every NDC member a potential victim,” Duncan asserted.

‘We thank you for withdrawing from Tamale Central by-election but we are contesting Akwatia’ – Nketiah

His comments were made in the context of the recent military helicopter crash in the Adansi Akrofuom District of the Ashanti Region, which claimed the lives of several high-profile government officials and military personnel.

Speaking during the 10th National Delegates Congress of the NDC on December 17, 2022, Asiedu Nketiah stated, “You, the delegates of our party, have given us the mandate to secure the second independence of Ghana.

“We know the path will not be smooth, but we will stand up to the challenge, and we are prepared to sacrifice everything, and I mean everything, including our lives, to make sure this country is delivered.”

Son of late NDC Vice Chair urges President Mahama to take action against galamsey

The crash involved a Z-9 helicopter belonging to the Ghana Armed Forces and resulted in the deaths of, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, Minister of Defence, Dr Murtala Mohammed Ibrahim, Minister of Environment, Science, Technology, and Innovation, Alhaji Mohammed Muniru Limuna, Acting Deputy National Security Coordinator, Samuel Sarpong, former Central Regional Minister and Samuel Aboagye, former parliamentary candidate.

The helicopter crew also perished in the crash: Squadron Leader Peter Bafemi Anala, Flying Officer Malin Twum-Ampadu and Sergeant Ernest Addo Mensah.

GH¢100m allocation to deepen food security

0

Government has allocated GH¢100million this year to strengthen the National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO) and safeguard the country’s food reserves against potential emergencies.

The allocation, contained in the Food and Agriculture Ministry Medium-Term Expenditure Framework 2025-2028, indicates the amount will be used to strengthen the country’s food buffers to improve food security.

More importantly, the document explained that this allocation is intended to enable NAFCO purchase and store food – ensuring availability of essential commodities during emergencies and market disruptions.

The allocation underscores government’s commitment to food security and its recognition of NAFCO’s pivotal role in stabilising prices and preventing shortages.

The agriculture ministry said it forms part of wider measures to modernise agriculture, promote agribusiness, curb food inflation and strengthen national food security.

Last year, NAFCO faced a major test of its capacity to maintain strategic food reserves, mitigate the impact of disasters and emergencies and address potential shortages, as the country had to rely on external aid from the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) to secure grains for domestic consumption.

In September, Ghana received 500 metric tonnes of cereals from the ECOWAS Regional Food Security Reserve. The donation formed part of ECOWAS’s efforts to assist countries grappling with food insecurity arising from drought and other challenges.

The consignment included maize, rice, millet and sorghum, distributed as food grants to eight regions affected by prolonged dry spells.

However, agriculture stakeholders have said the recent events underscored the country’s need to maintain adequate food reserves.

Sector minister Eric Opoku described last year’s situation as less than ideal when he inaugurated a nine-member board for the National Food Buffer Stock Company (NAFCO) in June this year.

“This situation exposed the fragility of our food security system. Going forward, we want a new narrative. In times of crisis, the buffer stock stores should be able to say: “We have 10,000 or 20,000 tonnes of maize, rice or soybeans ready to stabilise the market,” he said.

Opoku stressed that the company must be proactive in intervening by purchasing surplus food during harvest seasons, storing it to maintain price stability and releasing it during lean periods and emergencies to curb price hikes on the open market.

He added that part of the funds allocated will be used to support buffer stock operations, enabling the company to procure and store food in anticipation of future shocks.

Modern African Fashion Dresses: Where Tradition Meets Trend

0

African fashion continues to capture the global spotlight with its vibrant prints, bold patterns, and unique silhouettes. In 2025, the latest African fashion dresses are a stunning blend of traditional craftsmanship and modern flair, making them a popular choice not only across the continent but around the world. These dresses highlight the diversity of African cultures while keeping up with contemporary fashion trends.

One of the most popular styles this year is the Ankara gown, which comes in a wide range of designs, from fitted mermaid styles to flowy maxi dresses. Ankara, known for its colorful patterns and wax prints, remains a staple fabric in African fashion. Designers are now incorporating asymmetrical cuts, puff sleeves, and ruffled hems to give these gowns a fresh, stylish twist.

Another trending style is the kente styles, traditionally from Ghana. Kente dresses are now being designed for both formal and casual wear. Modern Kente gowns often feature tailored fits and minimalist cuts, making them perfect for weddings, parties, or cultural celebrations. Designers also blend Kente with lace, satin, or chiffon for added elegance.

Dashiki dresses are also making a comeback, particularly in urban fashion scenes. These dresses, known for their loose fit and colorful embroidery, are now being reimagined with belts, off-shoulder designs, and layered fabrics, appealing to both young and mature audiences.

Moreover, African designers are gaining global recognition by showcasing their collections at international fashion weeks. Names like Lisa Folawiyo, Christie Brown, and Thebe Magugu are leading the way, combining traditional motifs with high-end fashion aesthetics.

In summary, the latest African fashion dresses are a powerful expression of identity, heritage, and innovation. Whether it’s through bold prints, elegant cuts, or a mix of cultural fabrics, African fashion continues to redefine global style while staying deeply rooted in tradition.

‘Daddy, why did you leave so soon?’ – Omane Boamah’s children mourn

0

Tears flowed freely at the Christ the King Parish in Accra on Thursday, August 14, as the children of the late Defence Minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah, poured out their grief in a deeply moving tribute.

“Daddy, why did you leave us so soon? Never in a million years would we have imagined this,” they said, their voices trembling. “Who will we call in the middle of the night when we have questions? Who will have the answers? You are irreplaceable, Edwardo.”

They remembered him as a loving and steady presence whose guidance, compassion, and values shaped their lives. “Your love was steady, your love was gentle, and it was the warmth that filled our home,” they recalled.

Even during official travels, they said, he never failed to call daily, never missed important family milestones, and constantly encouraged them to “dream big but stay grounded.” To him, success was never about personal glory but about the lives touched. “You showed us that compassion is strength, truth is a duty, and service to others is the greatest legacy one can leave,” they shared.

Why are we honouring foreign religions at the expense of traditional religions? – Asiedu Nketiah asks

0

Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah

The Chairman of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, has questioned why Ghana is giving more recognition to foreign religions while neglecting traditional religion.

Speaking to the media, Nketiah said it appeared imported religions had taken over the country, as if Ghana had no tradition or cultural roots.

He explained that although he is a Christian and a Presbyterian, the laws of Ghana do not make the country exclusively Christian or Muslim.

According to him, the constitution clearly states that Ghana is a secular state where everyone is free to practise their religion and culture.

Nketiah expressed concern that the state was now moving towards honouring foreign religions to the exclusion of traditional ones.

He said this was worrying, especially when chiefs and rulers were also turning to foreign religions.

He was worried about how some people claimed to deliver prophecies and play the role of God.

GFA GS Harrison Addo explains why Nsoatreman FC was still part of the Premier League clubs during the 31st Congress

0

Ghana Football Association general secretary Prosper Harrison Addo has explained to the general public of Ghana especially the Football fraternity in Ghana that, Nsoatreman FC was qualified to vote during the 31st annual congress.

“Nsoatreman Football Club is still a member of the Ghana Football Association.

They wrote to the FA that they want to be removed from all competitions, especially the Premier League, after they were charged by the Disciplinary Committee. He told Ghanasportspage.com.

“”Congress is always attended by all the clubs who played the season, and so at this congress you have all the teams that participated in the Premier League, including the relegated clubs, which is their last congress before they become a Division One club.

All the three relegated clubs (Nsoatreman, Accra Lions, and Legon Cities) will not be present as Premier League sides next season. Accra Lions and Legon Cities will be there as Division One League clubs.

“For Nsoatreman FC, they have been demoted to the lower leagues and will not take part in next season’s congress, but they were qualified for this one as a Premier League side, the same as the Women’s Premier League and the Division One League.

That’s why you saw the likes of Faith Ladies, Kotoku Royals, and other relegated teams.” He concluded.

Fuel prices to rise slightly in second pricing window of August – COMAC

0

The Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC) has announced that fuel prices are expected to increase during the second pricing window of August 2025.

In a statement sighted by GhanaWeb Business, COMAC estimated that petrol prices at the pumps will rise between 0.39% and 2.71%, while LPG is projected to increase by 0.15% to 2.34%.

In contrast, diesel prices are expected to decline by 0.21% to 0.72% starting August 16.

The changes are attributed to fluctuations in global petroleum prices, a slight depreciation of the cedi against the US dollar, and varying supply and demand levels for each product.

COMAC explained that global diesel prices fell sharply by 5.22%, following a modest drop in crude oil prices. Meanwhile, petrol and LPG recorded increases of 1.89% and 2.87%, respectively.

Interbank Market: Cedi drops further to GH¢10.80 against the dollar on August 15

For the first pricing window in August, based on average exchange rates from July 27 to August 12, the cedi weakened from GH¢10.68 to GH¢10.77 per dollar, representing a 0.87% depreciation.

This added slight upward pressure to import costs.

On the international market, Brent crude dropped marginally by 0.23%, moving from $70.42 to $70.26 per barrel.

The decline was influenced by increased production from both OPEC+ and non-OPEC countries, softer sentiment in the futures market, and reduced speculative activity.

COMAC noted that the anticipated pump prices are largely in line with current global market trends, with only minimal increases expected for petrol and LPG in the upcoming pricing window.

Chelsea Supporters have lambasted former Liverpool defender, Jamie Carragher for underestimating the value of the 2025 FIFA Club World Cup.

During The Overlap show, one of the fans told the pundit that Chelsea are the best club in the world at the moment after winning the inaugural edition of the FIFA Club World Cup.

In response, the Sky Sports pundit rejected the assertion, arguing that it is not a competitive competition, as some people claim, because some top teams did not participate.

He noted that the absence of La Liga champions Barcelona, Premier League champions Liverpool, and Serie A champions Napoli from the tournament makes it non-competitive.

In the course of the interactive session, one Chelsea fan said, “We are the greatest team in the world.”

Carragher retorted, “It’s not a proper competition; how can you be Champions of the World if the champions of England, Spain, and Italy weren’t even in it?”

This remark has sparked fury among Chelsea fans, who chided Carragher for being obsessed with the club by consistently making negative utterances.

Ghanaians Vows Never To Accept Nigerian Actors Apology Demands Nigerians Must Go

0

Tensions have escalated in Ghana between local citizens and Nigerian nationals following controversial remarks by a Nigerian actor that sparked widespread outrage. Despite issuing a public apology, the actor has failed to calm public anger, with many Ghanaians demanding his deportation and calling for stricter action against Nigerians accused of similar offenses.

The controversy began when the actor allegedly made derogatory comments about Ghana’s president and the country’s film industry. His statements quickly circulated on social media and were widely condemned as disrespectful to Ghana and its creative sector.

In an effort to ease tensions, the actor released a formal apology, claiming his words were misinterpreted and expressing remorse for any offense caused. Nevertheless, the public remained unsatisfied, with hashtags calling for his immediate expulsion trending online. Some users went further, urging that all Nigerians involved in comparable incidents be removed from the country.

Protests have been reported in Accra and Kumasi, where demonstrators carried banners reading Respect Ghana and Nigerians Must Go. Organizers argued that the apology came too late and highlighted a recurring pattern of Nigerian entertainers benefiting from Ghanaian hospitality while allegedly insulting the nation in return.

A protester in Accra emphasized that this is not an isolated incident, noting that Nigerian celebrities often leverage opportunities in Ghana and later show disrespect. The Ghana Immigration Service has yet to confirm any deportation proceedings, though sources indicate that the matter has been escalated to senior government officials due to the intensity of the public backlash.

Analysts warn that if mishandled, the incident could strain Ghana-Nigeria relations, given the countries’ strong cultural and economic connections. Similar disputes have arisen in the past, often amplified by social media debates and cultural rivalries.

As the situation unfolds, the actor has remained silent since issuing his apology, leaving many to wonder if Ghanaian authorities will act on the growing calls for his removal.

Akosua Jollof Faces Deportation as Dockets Prepared; Claims Sammy Awuku Should Cover Her Travel Cost

0

Ghanaian socialite and outspoken commentator, Akosua Jollof, is reportedly on the verge of deportation following alleged immigration-related issues. Reliable sources claim that official deportation dockets have already been prepared, indicating her removal from her current country of residence could occur at any time.

The situation gained further attention after Akosua Jollof declared on social media that the Director-General of the National Lottery Authority (NLA), Sammy Awuku, should bear the cost of her return to Ghana. While she did not provide full details, she hinted that Awuku was indirectly connected to her predicament, a statement that has sparked widespread speculation online.

Authorities have not released an official explanation for the deportation order, but insiders suggest that her immigration troubles may be linked to controversial remarks she has made in recent months. The preparation of deportation dockets is typically the final step before such an action is carried out.

In posts and voice notes circulating on social media, Akosua Jollof stated she had no regrets over her actions and insisted that her travel costs should not come from her own pocket. “If I am going back, Sammy Awuku should pay for my travel. He knows why,” she reportedly said.

Her comments have triggered mixed reactions, some interpret them as a sign of a personal or political dispute, while others dismiss them as a publicity stunt. Sammy Awuku has yet to respond publicly, and attempts by journalists to reach him have been unsuccessful.

Legal experts warn that if the deportation is enforced, Akosua Jollof could face a lengthy ban from re-entering the country involved. They also caution that linking her case to public officials could expose her to additional legal challenges.

For now, the decision lies with the authorities, and unless there is an unexpected intervention, Akosua Jollof’s return to Ghana seems inevitable.

Crop Top and Pant: A Stylish Duo for Every Occasion

0

The combination of a crop top and pant has become a defining fashion statement over the past few years. This duo blends comfort, style, and versatility, making it a favorite choice for people of all ages and body types. Whether for casual outings, parties, or even semi-formal events, pairing a crop top with pants offers endless styling possibilities.

Crop tops, which expose the midriff, add a youthful and playful vibe to any outfit. They come in various styles—from tight-fitting and ribbed to loose and flowy, and in countless fabrics like cotton, silk, and polyester. Pants, on the other hand, bring balance to the look. Depending on the style, they can either complement or contrast the crop top, creating different aesthetics. Skinny jeans, wide-leg trousers, high-waisted pants, or even tailored slacks can all be paired with crop tops for unique effects.

One of the biggest advantages of wearing crop tops with pants is the flattering silhouette they create. High-waisted pants, in particular, emphasize the waistline, enhancing the body’s natural curves while providing enough coverage to maintain elegance and comfort. This pairing allows for both showcasing and modesty, a balance many seek in modern fashion.

This style also adapts well to different seasons and occasions. During warmer months, a sleeveless or short-sleeve crop top combined with lightweight trousers or jeans makes for a breezy and chic look. In cooler weather, layering a crop top under a blazer or jacket while wearing tailored pants can produce a sophisticated, trendy ensemble suitable for work or social events.

Accessories and footwear can further elevate the crop top and pant combination. Sneakers and sandals offer a casual vibe, while heels and boots add a touch of glamour. Jewelry, belts, and bags help personalize the outfit, reflecting individual style and personality.

In conclusion, the crop top and pant pairing is a versatile and fashionable choice that continues to dominate wardrobes worldwide. Its ability to blend comfort, style, and adaptability makes it an enduring trend suitable for a variety of occasions and personal styles. Whether aiming for casual cool or polished chic, this combo offers endless possibilities to express oneself confidently and stylishly.

Unity TV And Unity FM Owner Sets Record Straight On Ownership Amid Misinformation

0

Ghanaian businessman Dr Mohammed Musah, popularly known as Mallam Mohammed, has clarified that he is the sole owner of Unity Television and Unity FM 87.7, both based in Kwahu in the Eastern Region.

Dr Musah said the two stations operate under the Mohammed Broadcasting Company Limited, and that he has documentary evidence proving his legal acquisition of the media outlets.

Speaking to journalists in Accra on Friday, August 15, 2025, Dr Musah said his decision to address the matter followed reports circulating on social media claiming that the founder of the Unity Group of Companies, Dr Kwame Kyei, owned Unity Television.

He described those reports as “misleading” and urged the public to disregard them.

Dr Musah also called on media organisations to correct what he described as damaging inaccuracies appearing in online search results.

In addition to Unity Television and Unity FM, Dr Musah owns North East Television and Unity Trust Pharmacy Limited.

“If Dr Kwame Kyei had registered Unity Television and Unity FM in his name, I could not have operated them for the public. These stations have been in commercial operation for the past six years,” he said.

Dr Musah stressed the need for accurate reporting, warning that false claims of ownership could harm his brand reputation.

Both Unity Television and Unity FM have won national and international awards, including the recent Glodochmea Award by the International Kingdom University for being the first television and best radio stations in Kwahu.

Speaking in an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu, on Eyewitness News on Citi FM, Oduro described the area as an accident hotspot, particularly around a nearby bridge.

Pianim diagnoses how Afenyo-Markin, other young NPP leaders can maximise Minority status better

Kwame Pianim (L) says Alexander Afenyo-Markin (R) is 'sitting near the heat' and could do better Kwame Pianim (L) says Alexander Afenyo-Markin (R) is ‘sitting near the heat’ and could do better

Economist and statesman Kwame Pianim has given his assessment of Minority Leader Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin’s leadership of the caucus.

Speaking in a video clip from a TV3 interview shared on Facebook on Thursday, August 14, 2025, Kwame Pianim expressed his dissatisfaction with the conduct of Afenyo-Markin.

Minority stages walkout ahead of 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review presentation

Asked if the Minority Leader is conducting himself well, Pianim responded, “No.”

He asserted that the Minority Caucus was not performing its oversight role of the government properly.

“He is sitting near the heat; he decides. Politics is not easy. Afenyo-Markin and his group in parliament are facing the heat. They are responding to some of the governance errors of the government to protect your human rights, to protect my human rights — that is what their job is supposed to be,” he said.

Pianim, a leading member of the NPP, indicated that one of the reasons the Minority Caucus is not performing well is that it lacks proper leadership from the party, which should be working closely with its leadership in the House.

“What has been lacking in the NPP is the centre that is not holding. If they have a good leader, in terms of a national chairman, who is advising, he will be telling them, let us do this, let us focus on this.

“So, when you are there and you don’t have those connections, that network, your messaging may go a little wrong,” he said.

He clarified that he does not mean the current chairman of the party is not a good leader, saying, “No, he is sick. He is not well. So, the 1st Deputy (Chairman) is now in the seat.”

“Daddy Lumba was more than a musician; he was a cultural icon whose music touched countless lives. His soulful voice provided the soundtrack to our love stories, and his poignant lyrics captured the poetry of our struggles, dreams, and resilience,” the statement read, in part.

Daddy Lumba’s daughter Denise celebrates birthday

Daddy Lumba’s eldest daughter, whom he welcomed with his first wife, Akosua Serwaa, celebrated her 31st birthday on Thursday, August 14, 2025.

Denise Nana Ama Fosu took to social media to pay tribute to the late singer on her special day.

She shared a video of them together, taken on her 21st birthday, which was exactly ten years ago on August 14, 2015.

A hearty Daddy Lumba could be seen in the video with his daughter as they attended her birthday party.

They both laughed together as he pointed out something to her on the birthday cake.

Denise explained that the laughter was because the caterer had mistakenly marked her age on the cake as 25 instead of 21.

“10 years ago today Dad. I miss you so much. How hard we laughed when they brought out the cake. They got my age wrong, ’25th’ instead of ’21st’. I can still hear your laughter. Those moments will stay with me forever,” she wrote.

The TikTok video of Daddy Lumba with his daughter is below.

Daddy Lumba cultivated a reputation of mystique throughout his career and was infamous for being stern, unaccommodating and impersonal.

His daughter’s video, showing a different side of the legend, has warmed hearts and stirred positive reactions from Ghanaians.

Kojo Choi Has Finally Opened Up On His Current Relationship With Mahama Amid Appointment Rumours

0

Ghana’s recently appointed Ambassador to South Korea, Kojo Choi, has opened up about his diplomatic mission, his professional journey, and the truth behind his relationship with President John Dramani Mahama.

In an in-depth conversation, Mr. Choi described his ties with the president as respectful but not political.

He said their interactions have mostly been about Ghana’s development and international opportunities rather than personal matters.

“President Mahama is a leader I respect for his vision for the country,” he stated.

Mr. Choi dismissed claims that his new role was a product of political favoritism.

He explained that his selection followed years of work in trade facilitation, cross-cultural projects, and advisory roles in international relations.

These, he noted, had prepared him to represent Ghana in a complex diplomatic landscape like South Korea.

Laying out his goals, the Ambassador said he intends to focus on boosting economic cooperation and cultural exchange.

He pointed out that Ghana’s natural resources, agricultural products, and youthful population could complement South Korea’s industrial strength and advanced technology.

“Partnerships between our countries can open doors for manufacturing, education, and tourism,” he said.

Mr. Choi also stressed the value of student exchange programs and technology transfer agreements, noting that South Korea’s success in building a modern economy offers lessons Ghana can adapt.

He believes that a shared focus on innovation could lead to long-term benefits for both nations.

On the challenges of the job, he admitted that diplomacy requires patience, strategy, and the ability to negotiate with care.

“You can’t force trust—it must be built over time through consistent action and honest communication,” he said.

Forget Linen, Satin Pants Are the Chic Trend That Pulls Together Any Outfit, Just Ask My Teen

0

There’s a test I run these days that’s a fool-proof way to know if an outfit suits me: I ask my teen daughter what she thinks. At 15, she’s brutally honest (perhaps to a fault) and has no problem saying she dislikes my picks when we’re shopping together. Recently, on a shopping trip before a vacation in Italy, I found a pair of pink, wide-leg, satin pants on a clearance rack. “What do you think?” I asked her with some trepidation. “Cute!” she exclaimed, which was good enough for me. Once I got my satin pants home and actually wore them, I fell in love, and so did my daughter.

I’ve ordered several more pairs since that shopping trip, like this dressy Halara pair, and now my daughter keeps borrowing them from my closet (we also have our eye on these satin joggers). We’ve worn these lightweight, soft, satin pants everywhere from Sunday-morning church to nights out with friends. Paired with a cute tank and a denim jacket, they’ve become my summer uniform—one that’s oh-so-comfy to wear, even in the hot temps.

Here are seven satin pants that will keep you cool yet elevated this summer, starting at $12.

Heipeiwa Wide-Leg Satin Palazzo Pants

I love this style of wide-leg, satin pants because it’s a bit dressier than drawstring varieties. While they still have the pull-on style of other satin pants, they have a button closure at the waist, which gives them a more tailored-looking fit. I also love that they come in black and white, two essential colors to have on hand to match any kind of top.

“Great stretchy waist,” wrote one five-star reviewer at Amazon. “They look super classy. Not too thin, not too thick. Like wearing pajama bottoms but with a beautiful line.”

Baczoe Satin Cargo Pants

Cargo pants are back in style, and yes, they even make them in satin fabrics. This style comes in colors like purple, black, and light blue, and is made of thick satin with a zipper front. Slightly long in length, reviewers praise these satin cargo pants for being “tall girl-friendly” and made with “good quality material.” Another Amazon reviewer wrote that they “got so many compliments” wearing them, and they comfortably wore them “all day.”

Halara High-Waisted Satin-Like Wide-Leg Pants

Another great pair of satin pants for the short girls, these Halara pants are cropped and have a relaxed, high-waisted fit. They’re a pair I grab again and again to wear with everything from padded camisoles to ribbed tanks, and my daughter does the same. I own them in black and pewter, but find myself reaching for the beautiful pewter shade more often because it’s light and reminds me of summer.

They’ve also held up great in the washing machine, something I appreciate since I live in Florida and have to wash sweaty laundry often.

Allegra K Drawstring Waist Satin Joggers

My daughter showed me this jogger-style satin pant and commented that they’d look cute with sandals and a tank. We ordered a pair and couldn’t believe how soft and comfortable they were. They also come in lots of colors, like pink, silver, and yellow, so there’s a pair to match anything in your closet.

“The fit is perfect,” said one Amazon purchaser. “These pants can be worn with heels with a nice blouse as dress-up or with sneakers and a tee as dress-down.”

Heipeiwa Pleated Satin Dress Pants

I love to have lots of classic black or white pieces in my closet, but I also love a pop of color. This style of satin pants comes in multiple colorways, from black to magenta to emerald green, and has a pleated front and cropped leg for a dressy look. The shorter inseam length makes them a great option for short people like my daughter and me.

“Being petite, most dress pants are either too long or have a very long inseam, so I usually have to choose which I can live with,” said one five-star reviewer at Amazon. “With these, I have the perfect pair! The satin is so rich-looking and soft.”

Swomog Satin Pants

My daughter and I love that these satin pants come in both solids and prints. With an elastic waist and wide leg, they’re ideal for wearing everywhere from the beach to a date night. And, because they’re just $12, they’re a great way to try satin pants and see if they’re your style.

These satin pants are made with a polyester and spandex blend, so they’ve got a bit of stretch for extra comfort. They’re also wrinkle-free and machine-washable, so you can pack them for traveling or wear them at home.

Quince Satin Silk Drawstring Wide-Leg Pants

These silky drawstring pants from Quince come in beautiful, subtle shades like smoke gray and navy, and are made with 100% mulberry silk with a satin finish. But, just because they’re silk doesn’t mean they’re hard to take care of: These silky, wide-leg pants are machine washable and get high marks from reviewers for comfort and style.

“These are fabulous for lounging,” one reviewer gushed. “I took them on a trip to Europe, as they’re lightweight, stylish, and easy to pack. Now they’re great for weekend lounging. Highly recommend!”

A composed, well-disciplined leader — Knights of St. John pay tribute to Omane Boamah – Citinewsroom – Comprehensive News in Ghana

The Knights of St. John International and Ladies’ Auxiliary have paid tribute to the late Minister for Defence, Dr. Edward Omane Boamah, describing him as a model of discipline and composure whose life will inspire future generations of the Order’s cadets.

Speaking to Citi News on the sidelines of a Vigil Mass at Christ the King Parish in Cantonments, Accra, on Thursday, August 14, 2025, the Supreme Subordinate Commandery President of the Knights of St. John International, Major General William Edmund Adjei, said Dr. Boamah’s personal qualities left a deep and lasting impression on the fraternity.

“Whilst we were with him in his office, one of the things I truly observed was a composed and well-disciplined man. It’s a lesson we will pass on to our cadets as we mould them into future leaders,” Major Gen. Adjei noted.

He revealed that the late minister, who had once been a cadet of the Order, had expressed interest in rejoining the Knights prior to his passing.

“A few months ago, we paid him a visit, and we were confident he was going to join the Knights. His death is a great loss to us, but as Catholics and Christians, we believe that although he has left us, it marks the beginning of a new life in heaven,” he added.

Britain’s Princess Anne celebrates her 75th birthday

0

Princess Anne, the late Queen Elizabeth’s only daughter and a former Olympic equestrian, turns 75 on Friday, with little fanfare planned in keeping with the royal’s disdain for making a fuss.

To mark the occasion, Buckingham Palace is releasing a new photograph of the horse-loving princess, who is often credited with being the hardest-working member of the British royal family.

Born in 1950, two years after her brother, now King Charles, and two years before her mother would become monarch, Anne became renowned as a young princess for her rather brusque, plain-speaking public demeanour – reminiscent of her late father, Prince Philip.

But she went on to gain acclaim for her horse-riding triumphs, becoming Britain’s first royal Olympian when she competed at the 1976 Montreal Olympic Games. More recently, she has been lauded for her campaigning for domestic and international charities.

A YouGov poll last week showed Anne was the third-most popular of the royals, just behind heir Prince William and his wife Kate, with 70% of those surveyed having a favourable view of her.

While other members of the Windsor family have become staple tabloid fodder, Anne has eschewed the limelight, although she was involved in one of the most dramatic royal events of modern times when an armed man attempted to kidnap her near Buckingham Palace in 1974.

She said her calmness in dealing with the incident – she told her would-be assailant “Not bloody likely!” when he demanded that she get out of her car – was due to her experience with horses that had helped make her prepared for the unexpected.

Last year, she spent five nights in hospital after suffering a concussion from an incident which involved a horse, but was back at work three weeks later.

“She just keeps her head down the whole time, keeps working away and leaves others to worry about column inches,” her son, Peter Phillips, said in a TV interview last year.

Ghanaian pressure group petitions EC to postpone Akwatia by-election following helicopter crash

0

Elections Watch Ghana, a pressure group, has petitioned the Electoral Commission, Ghana (EC) to exercise its discretionary powers to postpone the September 2 by-election in Akwatia.

According to the group, the recent helicopter crash that resulted in the loss of eight lives last Wednesday in Adansi-Akrofuom is still fresh in the minds of Ghanaians.

They argue that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) is currently grieving, making it challenging for them to campaign effectively.

Mike Ewusi Arkoh, Convenor of the group, emphasized on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 97.5FM that the EC is empowered under Article 296 of the 1992 Constitution to exercise its discretionary powers in a fair and just manner.

He argued that a brief postponement of the by-election would enable the NDC to adequately prepare, ensuring a level playing field for all parties involved.

Arkoh noted that granting this request would enable the EC to uphold the principles of fairness and impartiality, which are essential to the growth and development of Ghana’s democracy.

He further stressed that Section 13 of the Elections Act, 2002 (Act 651) empowers the EC to make regulations and take necessary steps for the conduct of elections anywhere in Ghana. This section, he added, also empowers the EC to adjust the timelines for the election scheduled for September 2, 2025.

Mark Ewusi Arkoh also referenced an EC statement that eulogized the late Dr. Edward Omane Boamah and his contributions to the EC. He claimed that “never has this happened in Ghana where an EC will speak so well of someone.”

He stressed that “the NDC is demoralized, and their preparations for the Akwatia by-election are not the best due to the death of the gallant eight.

“That is why we are appealing to the EC to postpone it briefly to allow the NDC to organize themselves well. It is not just about the NDC. If it happened to any other party, we would have spoken about it.”

Reform momentum key to sustaining Ghana’s economic gains – World Bank – Citinewsroom – Comprehensive News in Ghana

0

Ghana’s economy grew by 5.7% in 2024, maintaining strong momentum into the first quarter of 2025 with a growth rate of 5.3%, according to the World Bank’s 9th Economic Update for Ghana titled Addressing Labor Market Challenges and Opportunities in Ghana’s Economic Landscape.

The report credits progress in debt restructuring, easing inflation, and robust trade performance for boosting foreign reserves. However, it cautions that fiscal challenges in 2024 reversed earlier stabilization gains, underscoring the urgent need for structural reforms to strengthen fiscal discipline and macroeconomic stability.

Growth is projected to slow to 3.9% in 2025 as fiscal adjustments dampen domestic demand, inflation remains above target, and high interest rates persist. The World Bank warns that delays in debt restructuring, inflationary pressures, exchange rate volatility, and climate-related agricultural losses could threaten Ghana’s economic stability.

“Ghana’s success will depend on maintaining reform momentum and steadfast implementation,” said Robert Taliercio, World Bank Division Director for Ghana, Liberia, and Sierra Leone. “Energy sector reform, private sector participation, and improved management of public finances are critical for long-term growth.”

The update also examines Ghana’s labor market, projecting significant growth in the working-age population over the next decade. While this presents opportunities, the report stresses the need for a comprehensive job creation strategy, particularly targeting youth employment, skills development, and structural transformation.

Lead economist Kwabena Gyan Kwakye highlighted the importance of boosting agricultural productivity, expanding agro-processing value chains, and facilitating job-to-job transitions to enhance economic resilience.

To stimulate private sector-led growth and employment, the World Bank recommends:

  • Building physical and human capital through infrastructure investments and skills training.

  • Improving the business environment by addressing regulatory bottlenecks and expanding access to finance.

  • Mobilizing private capital for high-potential sectors such as manufacturing, textiles, electronics, and chemicals.

The Bank urges Ghana to balance short-term stabilization with long-term reforms to ensure sustainable economic transformation, stronger job markets, and resilience to external shocks.

The Golden Stool looks welded; nobody can command anything from the skies – Dormaahene claims

The Golden Stool and Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II play videoThe Golden Stool and Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II

Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, President of the Bono Regional House of Chiefs and Paramount Chief of the Dormaa Traditional Area, has stated that there is no iota of truth in the claim that a spiritual being can command things from the skies for them to materialise into the physical realm.

How the next Asantehemaa, a custodian of the Golden Stool, will be chosen

According to the Dormaahene, the Golden Stool of the Ashanti people, known as Sika Dwa Kofi, which is said to have been summoned down from the sky by the high priest Okomfo Anokye, appeared welded when it was displayed in public.

He, therefore, cast doubt on the historical account of it being commanded from the sky.

Speaking during the launch of the Bonokyempem Council in the Bono Region on August 14, 2025, Osagyefo Oseadeeyo Agyeman Badu II, known in legal circles as Justice Daniel Mensah and currently serving as a High Court Judge, stated, “If anyone tells you they can summon something to descend from the sky, I, Agyeman Badu II, am saying it is a lie.”

“Didn’t you see when the Golden Stool was recently outdoored, it looked welded? Didn’t you see?” he questioned.

President Mahama appoints Dormaahene as Chairman of UENR Governing Council

Meanwhile, according to history, the Golden Stool is said to have descended in a cloud of white dust, amidst thunder and landed on the lap of the first Asante king, Osei Tutu I, by the command of the Okomfo Anokye, a fetish priest.

Dormaahene, on the other hand, has been an astute critic of historical narratives, especially those he has described as distorted facts in the country’s history.

Even in disagreement, you can’t quarrel with him – Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu pays tribute to Dr Omane Boamah

0

Former Majority Leader Osei Kyei-Mensah-Bonsu has remembered the late Defence Minister, Dr. Edward Kofi Omane Boamah, as a man of remarkable versatility and disarming charm.

He said he was the kind of person with whom it was impossible to quarrel, even in moments of disagreement.

Speaking on JoyNews’ PM Express on Wednesday, in the wake of the tragic military helicopter crash that claimed Dr. Boamah’s life alongside seven others, the former Suame MP described his late friend as “a man of great versatility.”

The former Parliamentary Minister said the former Defence Minister’s personality left a mark on everyone who encountered him.

“Dr. Omane Boamah, I knew personally. He has a very versatile personality, is a medical officer, a former minister responsible for government communications, and was in charge of defence for the country. That indicates to anybody assessing him that he is a man of great versatility,” he said.

Recalling their rapport, the former Majority Leader said their interactions were always warm and light-hearted.

“We’ve known each other for quite some time now, ever since he came into the political limelight, and we have been having conversations on occasion. Anytime that we bump into each other, it’s always a joke that we share.”

He said Dr. Boamah had a rare gift for defusing tension, even in heated debates.

“He’s one person that even when you disagree with, you can’t pick up a quarrel with him, because he will end up making a joke of it, even if it is a big issue, and lighten the conversation. That was Dr. Omane Boamah for me.”
