Prophet Ebenezer Opambour, a renowned Ghanaian prophet, has disclosed the crucial role he played in ensuring the success of President John Mahama’s inauguration ceremony.
In a live TV broadcast, Opambour revealed that his spiritual interventions saved the day, despite the event’s poor organization and unfavorable spiritual atmosphere.
The Minority Members of Parliament have strongly objected to Speaker Alban Bagbin’s description of their caucus as a “micro-minority.”
Leading the protest, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin expressed the caucus’s dissatisfaction during a parliamentary session, stating that the label was inappropriate and uncalled for.
The incident occurred during the session on Wednesday, January 8, when Speaker Bagbin referred to the Minority caucus using the contentious term, sparking discontent among its members.
Responding to the Speaker’s description, Afenyo-Markin noted “Mr Speaker, we do not have any micro minority. Mr Speaker, the minority caucus hereby protests the description given to us by Mr Speaker.”
He further highlighted the role of the minority caucus in supporting Bagbin’s election as Speaker, despite opposition from the majority.
“Mr Speaker, we seconded the motion for your election. When the so-called majority was even conspiring against you, we protested. We stopped them from that conspiracy. Mr Speaker, it was us, the minority of conscience,” he continued.
Afenyo-Markin insisted that the term “micro minority” was unacceptable and urged the Speaker to address them as “minority semplicità.”

Nana Akua Afriyie, the Parliamentary Candidate for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in Ablekuma North, has vowed to persist relentlessly in asserting her victory in the constituency’s parliamentary elections.
Speaking at the collation centre in Accra on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, Afriyie expressed her unwavering commitment to ensuring that the truth prevails in the electoral process.
“We have 281 polling stations in Ablekuma North. It was left with 62 and by the grace of God truth will stand. In the first place, I appreciate the justice system that we should go and collate, and I am firm. I want to say on record that I will fight till the end because I know I won,” she declared.
Afriyie highlighted her meticulous preparation, stating, “I have all my 281 pink sheets scanned. I did it immediately before the gentleman who came and tore everything from the EC.”
“…Gradually we are left with three polling stations. By the grace of God, I am leading comfortably and that is the fear.”
Meanwhile, the Returning Officer for the Ablekuma North Constituency, Vincent Obeng, has announced his decision to discontinue the collation of results in the area.
He informed the Electoral Commission (EC) to find a replacement, citing frustrations encountered during the collation process on January 8, 2025.
Obeng revealed that, out of seven polling stations, results from four had already been collated, leaving just three remaining.
The World Bank has acknowledged the significant challenges confronting Ghana’s cocoa sector and has pledged to offer recommendations to help revitalize the industry.
On January 8, 2025, during a meeting with President John Dramani Mahama, Ousmane Diagana, Vice President for West and Central Africa at the World Bank, emphasized the untapped potential within Ghana’s agricultural sector, with a particular focus on cocoa.
“On cocoa, Ghana is one of those countries where we have prepared what we call country-climate under-development. And we have indeed identified the potential that exists in the agricultural sector. Particularly is cocoa and at the same time what are the challenges the sector has faced?
“We have Ghana and Cote D’Ivoire together, even though there are similarities. We have some recommendations that the team can discuss with you at some point. In that regard, and see how we can use our existing programme because we have some dedicated programmes that exist already in Ghana in order to contribute to addressing those challenges that have been mentioned.
Ghana’s cocoa sub-sector contracted by 26% in the third quarter of 2024, marking its fifth consecutive decline and highlighting ongoing struggles in one of the nation’s most vital export industries.
This significant drop contrasts sharply with the broader economy, which grew by 7.2% during the same period. Excluding oil, Ghana’s economy expanded in current terms to Ghȼ254 billion, compared to Ghȼ194 billion in the third quarter of 2023.
The cocoa sector’s challenges, which began in the third quarter of 2023, have worsened throughout 2024. The first quarter recorded the steepest contraction of 20.2%, followed by back-to-back 26% declines in the second and third quarters, signalling a deepening crisis.
This prolonged downturn threatens the stability of Ghana’s cocoa sector, a critical driver of rural livelihoods and a major source of foreign exchange earnings.

Tuesday 7th January 2025 will go down into the annals history as one of the significant days in Ghana’s history or “her story”
This is the day Ghana inducted a female to the highest office of a Vice President. After Professor Naana Jane Opoku Agyemang took her oath of office. I wrote on my WhatsApp status; “I saw this in my lifetime” I was elated about this.
I’m still counting to the day we shall have a woman President. Which I’m optimistic will be soon.
It was a beautiful and colorful ceremony, the Black Stars Square saw a captivating transformation. Following the conversation on Facebook and other platforms the credit for the transformation and stellar production was going to one gentleman with the name Stan Dogbe. Mr. Dogbe, you and your team have done a great job.
If you are an ardent follower of my blog, you know my forte is in fashion. So my piece will focus on the fashion and looks i saw at the event.
My opinion is going to be factual devoid of preferences and straight to the point.
Those who put in the work will get their ccolades and those who decided to make a mess will get it straight and firm.
So let’s dive in;
The former Second Lady, Samira Bawumia. This lady is a trend setter and fashionista par excellence. I was expecting a final fashion showdown from her at the inauguration but Auntie didn’t. I didn’t like her outfit. It was so off brand for her.
Hon Zita Benson looking flamboyant in her kente. I love the choice of colour but not the illusion net around her neck area. The designer should have used a colour that blends well with her skin tone. Regardless she looked fab.
Hon. Zanetor Rawlings. To be honest I wasn’t expecting much. Zanetor is not your fashion girl. She’s all about her Tom boy looks. I love her choice of kente. Very regal.
Hon. Adepa Gyekye… love this on her. Choice of colour is 👌🏾🔥 her makeup simple. She ticks ✅ all the boxes.
I was telling a friend the other day i miss natural edges. The baby hair pandemic lately is crazy. Ms. Charlene said say no more. I will give natural silver hair edges. 😅 I love her elegant outfit. The entire look is 10/10 😍
Felicity Nelson. Facebeat and outfit is 💯 straight to the point with no exaggeration.
Hon. Benita Okity Duah, I wasn’t expecting anything less. She delivered. What do you expect from a fashion designer. She did it 😍

Obuobia Opoku is who she thinks she is. As for OB never to be caught unfresh oo. Rocking her Duaba Serwaa number. I wanted to see abit of kente littered in her outfit. Nonetheless beautiful. The game changer is her purse. Snake leather Christian Dior bag. OB u do all 🙌🏾😅

“So with the better bank, obviously the elements of ownership for government, client, partnership will be the order complementing the financial assistance that we are providing with the knowledge aspect because as a global institution, obviously we work with all of the countries and this has allowed us to gain a lot of experience.
“As we mentioned on the formality aspect, how we can bring resources into the economy, making sure that those are not part of financing the economy…In particular in West African countries, this challenge that Ghana is facing in that area is the same that we see in Senegal, Kenya, etc. So we are happy to bring our department working in the area into the conversation with Ghana and see how we can really widen the resource base, making sure that the domestic organisation part of financing the economy also increases.
“On cocoa, Ghana is one of those countries where we have prepared what we call the country climate and development and we had indeed identified the potential that exists in the agricultural sector, in particular, the whole of cocoa but at the same time the challenges the sector has faced.
“So we have some recommendations that the team can discuss at some point and in that regard see how we can use our existing programme because we have some dedicated programmes in order to contribute in that sector,” he stated.

Former Chief of Staff under the John Agyekum Kufour administration, Kwadwo Mpiani, has indicated that everyone in the outgone New Patriotic Party government became a sycophant.
He says they looked on even when things were going bad but could not tell truth to power.
Kwadwo Mpiani blames this on the fact that the political party gave power to just one person and since everyone wanted to be in his good books, they could not say it to his face when things were wrong.
When President John Mahama met the designer Bondaana at his shop for the first time, it marked the beginning of a significant and culturally meaningful collaboration. The designer, Bondaana, became widely known for creating the unique attire worn by Mahama during his inauguration. This outfit—a white Agbaza paired with Kente accents—symbolized Ghana’s rich cultural heritage and was a powerful statement on national identity. The fabric and design choice were not only visually striking but also reflected Mahama’s commitment to upholding the country’s traditions while embracing a sense of unity.
The inauguration outfit was meticulously crafted to convey a sense of pride in Ghanaian craftsmanship. The Agbaza, a traditional style of dress, was designed with intricate patterns, while the vibrant Kente accents added an element of modernity, creating a blend of the past and the present. It wasn’t merely a fashion choice; it was a statement of Mahama’s deep respect for the cultural values that define Ghana as a nation. This attire became an instant symbol of national pride and unity, especially during a time when the country was facing significant economic challenges.
As Mahama prepared to begin his third term in office, his attire served as a reminder of the importance of preserving local traditions amidst contemporary issues. The collaboration between Mahama and Bondaana was more than just about fashion; it was about representing the people of Ghana on a global stage with dignity and authenticity. The choice to wear locally sourced fabrics instead of foreign-made ones underscored the president’s commitment to supporting Ghanaian artisans and designers, which helped shine a light on local craftsmanship.
The warm reception of the outfit by the public and the media reflected Mahama’s awareness of the significance of wearing culturally representative attire during such a historic moment. The design, which fused both traditional and modern elements, highlighted the evolving nature of Ghanaian culture and its ability to maintain its roots while embracing progress.
The meeting between President Mahama and Bondaana at the designer’s shop not only signified the start of a collaboration that would impact the country’s fashion scene but also highlighted how fashion and culture could come together to form a powerful statement of identity. As Mahama’s inauguration attire was praised across the nation, it was clear that Bondaana’s design had achieved its goal of celebrating Ghana’s rich heritage in a fresh and exciting way. The partnership was one of many that showcased the vital role of local craftsmanship in representing the heart of a nation.

Elvis Presley‘s Graceland home is one of the most iconic of any entertainer. Millions of visitors enter its musical gates every year to celebrate the life and career of the King of Rock and Roll. However, there’s another stately home, Neverland, that housed another legendary entertainer, the King of Pop, Michael Jackson. What are the same elements between these homes? What are the key differences? Most of all, who lived in both places?
Elvis Presley’s Graceland: The facts
Elvis Presley purchased Graceland on March 19, 1957 for $102,500. The mansion is located in Memphis, Tennessee.
Graceland is a 17,552-square-foot home with 23 rooms, in total, spread out over 13.8 acres. Elvis spent over 20 years of his life enjoying the stately home, named in honor of Grace Toof, a relative of the original owners.
After Elvis’ death, Graceland remained a private residence until 1982, when it was opened to the public as a museum. It remains the second most visited home in the world, second to The White House.
Graceland was added to the National Register of Historic Places on November 7, 1991. In 2006, Graceland’s significance was further acknowledged when it was designated as a National Historic Landmark, a more exclusive recognition given to properties of exceptional historical importance in American culture.
Elvis died in the mansion on Aug. 16, 1977. His funeral took place in the home and he is buried in its Meditation Garden.
Michael Jackson’s Neverland Ranch served at his home and personal amusement park
Neverland Ranch was purchased by Michael Jackson in 1988. It is located in Los Olivos, California, about 125 miles northwest of Los Angeles.
The property is approximately 2,700 acres and cost the entertainer $19.5M. It is comprised of 18 rooms in total for the 13,500 sq. ft. home.
The home is named Neverland after the fantasy island in JM Barrie’s story of Peter Pan, the boy who never grew up. The property surrounding the home includes an amusement park, a petting zoo, and multiple trains and railroads that run through the property.
The ranch was a retreat where Jackson entertained children, friends, and family, often hosting charity events for underprivileged kids. However, it was also the place where Jackson allegedly molested several young boys.
Due to mounting debts, Jackson relinquished control of the property in 2008. However, Neverland remained owned by Jackson’s estate and Colony Capital. Forbes reported that in Dec. 2020, billionaire Ron Burkle, a friend of the late pop star, purchased the property for $22M. It has since been renamed Sycamore Valley Ranch.
Jackson died tragically in 2009 from a combination of anesthetic propofol and lorazepam. He died at Ronald Reagan UCLA Medical Center and is buried at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California.
Who lived in both homes?

Elvis Presley’s daughter, Lisa Marie Presley, lived at both Graceland and Neverland. She considered Graceland her primary residence from 1969 through 1977 when Elvis died. Lisa Marie visited Graceland after Elvis‘ death to visit family but eventually made California her home.
Lisa Marie continued to visit Graceland with her children Riley, Benjamin, Harper, and Finley throughout her life. She spent holidays at the home, visiting when it was not open for tours.
However, upon her marriage to Michael Jackson in May 1994, Lisa Marie also had the opportunity to reside in Neverland with Riley and Ben. It was not the couple’s primary residence, but they did spend time at the home.
Their marriage ended two years later, in 1996. Lisa Marie opened up on her blog, reprinted by Oprah.com, about her and Michael’s union.
Lisa wrote, “The hardest decision I have ever had to make, which was to walk away and let his fate have him, even though I desperately loved him and tried to stop or reverse it somehow. He was an amazing person and I am lucky to have gotten as close to him as I did and to have had the many experiences and years that we had together.”
Lisa Marie first met Michael in 1974 when she was six years old and attended his concert at the Sahara Tahoe. That was the first time her father, Elvis Presley, met him as well.

The Returning Officer for the Ablekuma North Constituency, Vincent Obeng, has announced his decision to discontinue the collation of results in the area.
He informed the Electoral Commission (EC) to find a replacement, citing frustrations encountered during the collation process on January 8, 2025.
Obeng revealed that, out of seven polling stations, results from four had already been collated, leaving just three remaining.
Speaking to Channel One News’ Hanson Agyemang, Obeng explained, “I hope you have all seen what is going on. Yesterday January 7, we were left with 7 polling stations to go. We came today [January 8], and we have been able to do four out of the seven.
“So we’re left with three more. We brought our presiding officers here, two came and they couldn’t authenticate the statement of the poll and the declaration form. One said she couldn’t come, so that is the three now.
“It’s so unfortunate for me to make this statement that I’m done with Ablekuma North. They should find a new Returning Officer to continue their work for them.”
In his response, the Director of Training, EC, Dr Serebour Quaicoe expressed regret over the comment by the Returning Officer.
Chaos erupted at the Greater Accra Regional Office during the resumption of the collation of results for Ablekuma North by the Electoral Commission (EC), sparking heightened tensions.
The incident stemmed from accusations by the National Democratic Congress (NDC) that the EC was collaborating with the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to manipulate election results in the constituency.
The NDC’s Constituency Organiser, Musa Kalamu, alleged that the EC was aiding the NPP in doctoring figures from pink sheets of outstanding polling stations.
The situation occurred after the EC resumed the collation of the results after it temporarily suspended the collation process for the Ablekuma North constituency due to unresolved issues with results from seven outstanding polling stations, on January 6.
This decision comes as the EC sought to verify and authenticate the results from these polling stations before proceeding with the final collation.
Out of the 20 outstanding polling stations before the collation exercise on Monday, January 6, presiding officers have successfully authenticated 13 of the pink sheets submitted by the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
Joyce Bawah Mogtari, Special Aide to former President John Dramani Mahama, has reiterated the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government’s commitment to abolishing the controversial Electronic Transfer Levy (E-levy) and the COVID-19 levy.
This pledge, a key feature of the NDC’s 2024 manifesto, aims to provide relief to Ghanaians burdened by these levies.
Speaking on the matter, Madam Bawah Mogtari assured the public that the government remains resolute in its determination to deliver on this promise, emphasizing its dedication to easing the financial pressures on citizens.
“The E-levy has been a significant concern for many citizens. In a country where several banks have collapsed, some intentionally, mobile money services have become the main avenue for financial transactions. It is critical to ensure that this platform remains accessible and affordable for all. These levies will be scrapped,” Joyce Bawah made these remarks during an interview on JoyNews’ AM Show.
She expressed disapproval of the 1.5% rate of the levy, comparing it to other nations where taxes are limited to 0.5%.
In her view, the increased rate has rendered the levy burdensome for the average Ghanaian, emphasizing its wider consequences, particularly its effects on international development.
“For those who have no other options but to transact business using mobile money, this levy is not just inconvenient but stifling.
“Many development partners used to distribute resources through mobile money platforms. However, the introduction of the E-levy has disrupted these processes, adding unnecessary strain to an already fragile system.”
Additionally, Joyce Bawah questioned the continued collection of COVID-19 by the Akufo-Addo administration years after the pandemic had subsided.
“If we still have these levies in place and yet have not completed crucial projects like Agenda 111, we need to ask ourselves whether these levies serve their intended purpose..”

The National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s vocal Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, is only one of many outstanding women who stand behind every powerful male. More than just a helpful spouse, his wife, Irene Amankwaa Karikari, is a driven and passionate individual leaving her mark on Ghanaian politics.
Political arenas are nothing new to Irene. She was an outspoken supporter of women’s empowerment and social development while serving as the NDC’s Deputy Women’s Organiser candidate in the Sunyani West constituency. Her dedication to promoting change within and outside of her community is demonstrated by her political activism. Despite her public appearances, Irene has drawn praise for her poise and tenacity for striking a delicate balance between power and solitude.
A Story of Purpose-Based Love
Before their recent marriage ceremony, which attracted public attention, the pair maintained a somewhat secret relationship. Close family and friends attended the small gathering in Greater Accra, demonstrating their love of closeness and lasting relationships. Their romantic tale was made more charming by the modest celebration, which reaffirmed their emphasis on purpose over extravagance.
A Power Couple That Is Flexible
Sammy Gyamfi has established a solid reputation for his tenacious support of the NDC, incisive political observations, and fierce speech. His capacity to enthrall people has cemented his rise to prominence in Ghanaian politics. Beneath his public image, however, is a spouse who not only matches his vision but also his passion and determination.
Sammy and Irene’s political activity enhances one another, creating a relationship based on advocacy and a common goal. In Ghana, power couples are increasingly using their positions to advocate for social and political reforms, as evidenced by their union. As Irene continues to shatter stereotypes and spur change, her role demonstrates the growing power of women in Ghanaian politics.
An Energizing Collaboration
Love, ambition, and dedication are embodied by Sammy Gyamfi and Irene Amankwaa Karikari together. Their tale is more than just a love story; it is an example of how collaboration may lead to a brighter future. Together, their platforms and efforts encourage the next generation to see the transformational power of solidarity and common objectives.
President John Dramani Mahama has expressed shock over the severity of the looming power crisis as he assumes office.
This follows concerns raised by John Jinapor, Member of Parliament for Yapei Kusawgu, regarding a severe fuel shortage threatening to plunge the country into an energy crisis, commonly referred to as “dumsor.”
Speaking after President Mahama’s inauguration on January 7, 2024, Jinapor revealed that Ghana’s fuel reserves are critically low, with only five hours of supply remaining.
Jinapor also criticised the outgoing administration for failing to secure adequate fuel supplies, leaving the incoming government in a precarious position.
During a meeting with a delegation from the World Bank, President Mahama emphasized the urgency of resolving the escalating crisis, stating that immediate steps are required to avert widespread power outages.
“The transition has taken place, it’s been smooth and cordial. But there are few surprises that have come up in respect of the energy sector, and some aspects of government decisions over the seven years. But Ghana has the human resources to deal with the situation and turn things around as quickly as possible,” he stated.
Meanwhile, the Institute for Energy Security (IES) urged President Mahama to act swiftly to avert the possibility of a dumsor.
On a lively episode of U Cook on UTV hosted by gospel singer Empress Gifty, outspoken entertainment pundit and artiste manager Bulldog, born Lawrence Asiamah Hanson, did not mince words about his political allegiance.
In the interview monitored by MyNewsGH, Bulldog openly declared his unwavering support for the National Democratic Congress (NDC) while offering a scathing critique of the previous administration under Nana Akufo-Addo, describing it as “one of the most ineffective in history.”
When Empress Gifty probed into his consistent criticism of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) during the show, Bulldog explained his position with characteristic candour.
“It’s not about being bitter or having a personal vendetta,” he began.
“I support the NDC because, under Mahama’s leadership, we saw tangible results—solid infrastructure, good policies, and genuine progress.”
In defending his stance, Bulldog brought up the contentious debate around the Free Senior High School (Free SHS) policy, which the NPP often touts as a cornerstone of its legacy.
“Let’s set the record straight,” he asserted. “The Free SHS initiative didn’t originate with the NPP. Mahama laid the groundwork before leaving office. They only implemented it, but the credit goes to the NDC.”
Bulldog’s pointed remarks didn’t stop there. Responding to Empress Gifty’s question about whether he was financially motivated to align with the NDC, he dismissed the idea with a laugh.
“I don’t need anyone to pay me to speak the truth,” he said. “I support the NDC because they deliver results, not because of money.”

The NPP MPs protested against Bagbin’s description of their caucus as ‘micro’
The Minority Leader of Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has raised objection with the description of his caucus as “micro” by the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, during proceedings on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.
While reacting to an MP’s objection to the Majority Leader’s use of the title “Osahen” on parliamentary records, the Speaker, in a jest, stated that it remains part of his duty to protect “the leader of the micro minority.”
The comment by the Speaker attracted a sharp objection by the NPP Caucus which had its members rising to their feet in protest.
Rising to his feet, the Majority Leader emphasised the caucus’s objection to the description.
The Speaker, in response, agreed to the Minority’s objection, noting it as justified and stated that he will forthwith not use the term on the caucus again.

Former Chelsea and Nigeria midfielder John Mikel Obi has suggested that Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta should step down if he fails to win the Premier League next season.
Speaking on The Obi One Podcast, Mikel Obi ruled out Arsenal’s chances of clinching the title this season despite their second-place position, trailing Liverpool by six points. He believes Arteta’s six-year tenure by next season should culminate in a league title or result in his departure from the club.
“If Mikel Arteta doesn’t win the league next season, I think he should leave the football club,” Mikel remarked.
He highlighted the increasing competition from top Premier League teams, predicting that Arsenal’s path to the title would be even more challenging in the coming season.
“Manchester City will come back stronger, we [Chelsea] will be stronger, Liverpool, Manchester United, and Newcastle are all improving. It’s going to be tough for Arsenal,” he explained.
Mikel Obi’s comments follow Arsenal’s recent 0-2 defeat to Newcastle United in the semi-finals of the English Football League (EFL) Cup.
The EFL Cup is no longer an option, therefore, Arsenal will bet their hopes on the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, and FA Cup for potential silverware this season.
Arteta, who has been praised for rebuilding the Gunners into title contenders, now faces heightened expectations as fans demand the ultimate prize— the Premier League title.

In an interview on Adom FM’s , Mr. Amponsah acknowledged that the announcement was sudden.
However, he stated that they anticipated this outcome once there was a change of government following the December 7 election.
“We were expecting this, but it is not surprising. Whether it came late or not, nothing would have changed. Bawumia conceded defeat, and we all prepared ourselves, but we didn’t expect it to come today,” he stated.
President John Mahama, on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, revoked the appointments of all Chief Executives of Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs).

Following the revocation, the Coordinating Directors of the various MMDAs have been directed to assume responsibility as acting Chief Executives until substantive appointments are made.
When it comes to summer fashion, nothing beats the comfort and versatility of beautiful shorts for ladies. Whether you’re lounging at the beach, strolling through the park, or meeting friends for a casual outing, the right pair of shorts can elevate your look while keeping you cool in the warmer months. Beautiful shorts are not just about style but also about comfort, making them a must-have in every woman’s wardrobe.
There are various types of shorts to suit different tastes and body types. High-waisted shorts, for example, can elongate the legs and provide a flattering silhouette. Pairing them with a tucked-in blouse or a crop top creates a chic, effortless look. For a more relaxed vibe, opt for flowy, loose-fitting shorts that provide breathability and ease of movement. These types are ideal for a laid-back day at the beach or a summer picnic.
Denim shorts remain a classic choice for ladies of all ages. Whether distressed for an edgy look or simple and sleek for casual elegance, denim shorts are timeless and versatile. They pair beautifully with graphic tees, button-up shirts, or even sweaters for a casual yet fashionable appearance. On the other hand, tailored shorts made from materials like linen or cotton offer a more sophisticated and polished look, perfect for lunch dates or semi-formal gatherings.
In terms of color, the options are endless. While neutral tones such as beige, white, and black are always in style, floral prints, vibrant hues, and pastel shades add a playful and lively touch. Floral or patterned shorts, in particular, can brighten up your summer wardrobe and are perfect for a fun day out.
The key to finding the perfect pair of shorts lies in selecting a style that complements your body shape and reflects your personal style. Beautiful shorts for ladies not only enhance your wardrobe but also provide the freedom to move comfortably, all while staying stylish and on-trend.
The results of the last election were a clear call for change. Ghanaians voted overwhelmingly for it, delivering a decisive victory to President John Dramani Mahama with an extraordinary margin of two million votes.
This historic comeback not only signals a shift in political direction but also underscores the nation’s deep desire for transformation.
In response to the ex-president’s State of the Nation Address, Hon. Emmanuel Armah Kofi Buah of Ellembele aptly captured the frustrations of the electorate: economic hardship, unsustainable debt, and a collapsing currency.
These are the burdens the average Ghanaian seeks to overcome. The grim reality is this: in January 2022, the cedi traded at 5 GH₵ to 1 USD, yet by December 2024, it had plummeted to 15.5 GH₵ per dollar—an astronomical depreciation of over 300%. Despite this dire economic performance, the former president claimed to be leaving Ghana in a better state. Was this delusion, denial, or sheer audacity?
President Mahama now carries the monumental responsibility of addressing these bread-and-butter issues. However, his position as a one-term president offers him a unique advantage.
Free from the pressures of re-election, he has the opportunity to take bold, necessary decisions that past leaders shied away from.
With four years at his disposal, he can cement a legacy that rivals Ghana’s most iconic leaders, such as Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, and establish a governance standard future presidents will aspire to uphold.
While working to alleviate the suffering of ordinary Ghanaians, the president must not ignore the grave misdeeds of his predecessor’s administration. Accountability is essential.
Those who have looted and squandered the country’s limited resources must be held to account through due process. The president must invoke the law on willfully causing financial loss to the state, which provides a critical tool for addressing these offenses.
In the landmark Quality Grain case(The Republic vrs Ibrahim Adams, et al), Justice Kwame Afreh of blessed memory, emphasized that foreseeability is key to the intention and the action of the state actor to fall foul of the law.
The law applies not only when a state actor directly benefits from their actions but also when it is foreseeable that their decisions could harm the state. Any state actor who fails this test has a case to answer.
A relentless pursuit of looters, reckless state actor may stem the tide of impunity that has put the state at the mercy of ‘fortune hunters”.
In conclusion, I humbly urge President Mahama to act decisively and courageously.
He must seize this moment to correct the injustices Ghanaians have endured over the past eight years and rebuild trust in governance. May he lead with wisdom and boldness, and may God bless our homeland, Ghana.

Chaos erupted during the re-collation of election results in the Ablekuma North constituency on Wednesday, January 7, 2025, over the authenticity of pink sheets.
The exercise, meant to clarify results from some outstanding stations in the constituency triggered heated exchanges among polling agents and agents of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) who accused the EC and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) of conspiring to rig the elections in favour of the NPP candidate, Nana Akua Afriyie.
Speaking to journalists on Wednesday, January 8, 2025, the Director of Elections for the NPP, Evans Nimako, emphasised the importance of adhering to legal procedures in resolving electoral disputes.
He reiterated that political parties had been directed to submit their copies of the Form 8A results, either in hard or soft copy, for verification by the EC.
According to him, this process is essential to maintain the integrity of the electoral outcomes.
“The public must allow the law to operate, we have 276 constituencies, of which 275 results have been declared. However, in Ablekuma North, seven polling stations are still pending due to unresolved issues,” he noted.
The EC temporarily suspended the collation process on Monday, January 6, due to unresolved issues concerning results from seven polling stations.
Out of 20 initially outstanding polling stations, presiding officers were able to authenticate 13 pink sheets submitted by the NPP.
This re-collation follows a High Court ruling that directed the EC to address the disputes and re-collate results in four constituencies, including Ablekuma North.
However, the process has only deepened tensions, raising concerns about transparency and fairness in the electoral process.

Former Black Star player Asamoah Gyan and Prophet Kumchacha
Popular Ghanaian pastor, Nicholas Osei, popularly known as Prophet Kumchacha, has cautioned former Black Stars player Asamoah Gyan over his comments alleging that the recent fire outbreak at Kantamanto was caused by one of the two major political parties in the country.
In a video shared on social media, Kumchacha noted that the comment from Asamoah Gyan is unwarranted and, therefore, he should render an apology to the victims who were affected by the incident.
“Asamoah, shut up! Stop what you are doing. How can you come on social media in a singlet and make such utterances? How can you make politics out of this issue? There is no sense in what you said online,” he said.
Background:
On January 2, 2025, Asamoah Gyan took to his social media to suggest that the recent Kantamanto fire outbreak may have been politically motivated.
In a passionate outburst, Gyan suggested that the incident could have been orchestrated by either the New Patriotic Party (NPP) or the National Democratic Congress (NDC) for political reasons.
Explaining the potential motives of the two main political parties, Gyan alleged that the NDC might have started the fire as part of a strategy to begin a new project in the area without directly displacing traders.
Broadcaster Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah has resigned as host of the ABN morning show
Ghanaian broadcaster, Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah, has announced his resignation as the Morning Show Host of Angel Broadcasting Network (ABN), effective January 8, 2024.
In a post on Facebook, Afrifa-Mensah cited differences in interests between the management of the company and himself as the reason for his decision.
“I am resigning as the morning show host of Angel Broadcasting Network, effective immediately.
“This decision was made due to differences in interests between the management of the company and myself,” he shared.
Afrifa-Mensah expressed his gratitude for the opportunity to serve ABN and the Ghanaian public.
He also assured his fans and family that he would share his next move soon.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to serve ABN and the Ghanaian public. To my fans and family out there, I will share my next move soon,” he added.
This comes after rumors in December claimed that Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah had been dismissed from Angel TV, though neither Afrifa-Mensah nor Angel Broadcasting Network (ABN) officially confirmed it.
Afrifa-Mensah, known for his direct approach on the morning show “Anɔpa Bɔfoɔ,” has often sparked controversies.
His comments about some high-profile individuals, including Prophet Opambour and Nuumo Gborbu Wulomo-Shitse, the Overlord of the Gadangme State, led to outrage and demands for an apology, which he refused, escalating tensions.
English Premier League side, West Ham United, are set to appoint former Chelsea manager, Graham Potter, as the club’s new head coach.
According to a report filed by renowned transfer journalist, David Ornstein, the English manager will sign a two-year contract with the Hammers, keeping him at the club until 2027.
If confirmed, Potter will become the third manager to coach Ghanaian star Mohammed Kudus within two years at the Hammers.
The former Brighton and Hove Albion manager will replace Spanish coach, Julen Lopetegui, who has been sacked by West Ham after nearly a year in charge.
Lopetegui joined the Hammers in May 2024, signing a two-year contract to replace David Moyes after his deal expired at the end of the 2023/2024 season.
The 58-year-old leaves with West Ham United positioned in the bottom half of the Premier League table, sitting 14th, with 23 points.
During his tenure, he guided the team to 6 wins, 5 draws, and 9 defeats in 20 Premier League matches.
Social media users trolled New Patriotic Party (NPP) vice Presidential candidate, Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh aka NAPO following the swearing-in of President, John Dramani Mahama.
NAPO, who was unmarried for many years, got married just as speculations started flying that the then ruling NPP planned to choose him as the running mate for Dr Bawumia.
That led social media users to speculate that he had only gotten married for political reasons, so that he will have a second lady once in office.
Following the party’s loss and the transition of power being formalized with the swearing-in of Mahama, some people took to social media to troll NAPO.
“My problem right now is what will NAPO do with the lady he got married to sake of vice president position?” one netizen loudly wondered.

Tensions flared during the collation of parliamentary results for the Ablekuma North constituency as agents from the National Democratic Congress (NDC) and the New Patriotic Party (NPP) clashed over the authenticity of pink sheets.
The Electoral Commission (EC) on Monday January 6 temporarily suspended the collation process for the Ablekuma North constituency due to unresolved issues with results from seven outstanding polling stations.
Out of the 20 outstanding polling stations before the collation exercise on Monday, January 6, presiding officers successfully authenticated 13 of the pink sheets submitted by the NPP.
The returning officer, Vincent Obeng, explained that the commission has been unable to reach the presiding officers for the remaining seven polling stations, prompting the decision to suspend the exercise for the day.
But the brawl erupted when the NDC agents accused the EC and NPP of conspiring to rig the election in favour of the NPP candidate, Efua Afriyie.
Kwadwo Twum Boafo, the former Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Free Zones Authority has questioned the sincerity of immediate-past president, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s decision to extend an olive branch to the newly-installed John Dramani Mahama government.
Contributing to a panel discussion on Metro TV ahead of the swearing-in and inauguration of the Mahama government, Twum Boafo outrightly rejected the gesture by Nana Akufo-Addo, asserting that the move is devoid of honesty and ingenuity.
In rubbishing the decision by former President Akufo-Addo, Twum Boafo who is a victim of state-sponsored harassment and persecution, pointed out the ill-treatment of John Dramani Mahama and appointees of his erstwhile government as justification for his stance.
The respected NDC member stated that John Mahama himself was not left out of the mistreatment as elements of the NPP forced him out of the building that served as his residence while he was serving as president.
Twum Boafo argues that but for the humiliating defeat the NPP suffered in the 2024 elections, Nana Akufo-Addo would have made no such offer.
“Suddenly President Akufo-Addo says let’s forgive each other. When did he discover brotherhood? When he flat-out terrorized some of us, appointees of President Mahama including President Mahama himself. They threw out his (John Mahama) things. People were sent to turf out a former president out of his residents.
“Today he has discovered that we are brothers. After terrorizing us, he has now discovered brotherhood. It was the verdict of Ghanaians that made him discover brotherhood,” he said on Metro TV.

His closest contender, Dr Mamudu Bawumia, outgoing Vice President and flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), polled 4,657,304 votes, representing 41.61 percent.
His massive victory takes him to historic realms of Ghana’s political history.

The First Vice-Chairman of the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA), Clement Boateng, has donated GH₵40,000 to support the reconstruction of the Kantamanto market, which was devastated by a fire on January 2, 2025, around 1 a.m.
During the donation, Mr Boateng emphasized the need for financial institutions to reschedule loan payments for traders affected by the fire.
He appealed to banks and other financial bodies to reconsider repayment timelines to ease the burden on affected traders.
He also urged Metropolitan and Municipal Assemblies to allocate a portion of the funds collected from traders toward insurance schemes. According to him, this would provide a safety net against similar unforeseen events in the future.
“I will take this opportunity to appeal to the banks because I know that there are a lot of people here who have taken some facilities from the bank. So, I want to make an appeal to all the financial institutions that our members have taken facility from, to please reschedule their facility arrangement, so that the time that they are supposed to repay the facility will be extended for them to have some bit of respite.
“For some time now, we have not had a well-structured market in the country. Almost all the markets we have are made by the indigenes. This is the time for the government to collaborate with the private sector so that we can build more well-structured markets for Ghanaians to trade,” The Director of Communications of GUTA, Joseph Paddy added.

However, he emphasised that the country’s strong human resources is the possible solution to deal with the impending challenge.
“But there are a few surprises that have come up in respect of the energy sector and some aspects of government decisions and actions over the last several years. Musician Nacee has admonished the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, to fulfill his promises to the people of Ghana.
According to him, these promises encouraged the young people of Ghana to vote massively for him, and therefore reneging on it will be a big blow for him.

Some members of the group also claimed they were at the refinery to seek employment under the new administration.
The situation required the intervention of TOR’s security personnel, who managed to calm the crowd and eventually persuaded them to leave the premises without any incident.
The refinery, which has a processing capacity of 45,000 barrels per stream day, has been non-operational for several months under the previous administration.
Attempts to secure a private partner to revive TOR’s operations were unsuccessful, leaving the facility idle.

Bournemouth forward Antoine Semenyo is in high spirits following a stellar first half of the 2024/25 season, having scored five goals and provided two assists for his team.
Semenyo’s strong performances have played a key role in Bournemouth’s bid for a European spot, with the Cherries firmly positioned in the race for European qualification.
The Ghana international feels this is the best he has felt physically and mentally since joining the Premier League club.
“I feel like feeling 100% is one of the things I’ve been hoping for the past couple of years,” he told Stadium Astro.
“There haven’t been any major problems, so that’s a good thing.”
Semenyo credits much of his progress to the guidance and support of his manager and teammates. “I feel like I’m developing my game a lot more, and that comes down to the manager.
He seems to be able to maximize my abilities and attributes, and it’s really nice to have the manager, his assistants, and my teammates pushing me to be the best that I can be.”
Looking back on his performance, he said, “So, it has been a good start, and the only way is up.”
This season, Semenyo has scored against defending champions Manchester City and Manchester United, helping Bournemouth rise to 7th place in the Premier League table.

Ghanaian social media users have heaped praise on the President of Burkina Faso, Ibrahima Traore, for the respect he showed Ghana’s Vice President, Professor Jane Naana Opoku during the inauguration on January 7th.
The Burkinabe military leader, who was one of the highest-profile leaders invited to the program, made headlines for two distinct reasons at the event.
First, there was a lot of social media discussion over his decision to greet the President, John Dramani Mahama, while still having his gun on him.
Ghanaians complained heavily that he should have been disarmed before going to meet the President.
However, Traore also made headlines for the right reasons after he was spotted taking off his military cap before greeting the Vice President, Professor Opoku Agyemang.
Netizens said his action showed he was a respectful man and properly trained to show respect to women.
“A man born of a woman must show respect 🔥if it is easy go run am,” one user commented.
Another wrote: “A respectful man…He obviously knows she’s older than him 👏😍”
The Founding President of IMANI-Africa, Franklin Cudjoe, has responded to the viral image of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia bowing to President John Dramani Mahama during the inauguration ceremony for his second term.
The ceremony, held at Accra’s Black Star Square, was a grand display of Ghana’s democratic strength, featuring speeches, music, and cultural performances.
However, one particular moment gained significant attention: Dr. Bawumia’s respectful bow to Mahama.
The image, shared on Facebook, quickly went viral, sparking various emotions among Ghanaians.
Some praised the former Vice President for demonstrating humility, maturity, and statesmanship.
They highlighted how his gesture showcased respect for political opponents and promoted unity in a politically divided country.
The bow was seen as a reflection of Ghana’s political values, emphasizing mutual respect and democratic principles.
But in an interview on Adom FM’s, morning show, Franklin Cudjoe shared his perspective on the moment.
He explained that the bow was a true reflection of Dr. Bawumia’s character, rather than a carefully orchestrated act for the cameras.
“That’s Bawumia for you—he’s not arrogant, and he’s always respectful. His gesture was simply to show respect for Mahama. It’s not about putting on a show or pretending” he said.
He continued, “People should not read too much into it. This is just his nature—he values competition but respects others. He even conceded defeat earlier, which was also a gesture of grace.”
Mr. Cudjoe concluded by stating, “Bawumia has a bright future ahead of him, and I believe his actions reflect his genuine values.”
Mr. Cudjoe, further urged Ghanaians not to overanalyze the gesture but to appreciate it as a sincere reflection of Dr. Bawumia’s humility and respect for the nation’s democratic ethos.
President John Mahama says Ghana has the expertise and human resources necessary to address the ongoing energy crisis effectively.
Speaking on the matter, President Mahama acknowledged the challenges but expressed confidence in the nation’s ability to overcome them.
“There are a few surprises that have come up in respect of the energy sector, in respect of some aspects of governments decisions and things over the last seven years.
“But I think that Ghana has the human resources to be able to deal with the situation and turn things around as quickly as possible,” he stated.
His remarks come in response to concerns raised by the Member of Parliament (MP) for Yapei-Kusawgu, John Abdulai Jinapor, who warned of a looming energy crisis due to insufficient fuel stocks for power generation.
Mr Jinapor revealed that the outgoing Nana Akufo-Addo-led government had failed to procure the necessary fuel despite multiple warnings.
“If you look at the heavy fuel oil and diesel fuel, we don’t have enough to last two days. So, in two days’ time, we are likely to run out of fuel,” he warned.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Grid Company Limited (GRIDCo) has stated that the incoming government will require $89.90 million to purchase liquid fuel in the absence of natural gas.
According to them, this is crucial to ensuring that electricity generation companies can produce sufficient power to meet national demand.
The West Africa Gas Pipeline Company (WAGP), which supplies natural gas to the country, is scheduled to undergo a major maintenance work, known as pigging, and will be unable to supply gas to Ghana for nearly one month.
In a statement issued by GRIDCo, the maintenance of the gas pipelines from Nigeria to Ghana by WAGP was initially set to take place in October 2024. However, the previous government postponed the maintenance to January 2025.
According to GRIDCo, if WAGP proceeds with the maintenance, the country will face a severe power crisis, resulting in frequent power outages, commonly referred to as dumsor, as the power producers do not have sufficient liquid fuel to generate more electricity.
