The founder and leader of Alabaster International Ministries, Prophet Kofi Oduro, has lashed out at the Office of the Special Prosecutor over what he views as the office’s lack of interest in the activities of the Ghana Football Association (GFA).
Prophet Kofi Oduro is unhappy that the GFA, which he views as the most corrupt institution in the country, has not undergone any probe by the anti-corruption body.
He lamented the Black Stars’ trophy drought, which has spanned over four decades, and questioned the supposed investment in the team.
“Ghana Football Association are the most corrupt people in Ghana, but they have never been investigated. They are wasting resources. They are the team that wins nothing except shame. You have a team that for over forty (40) years has nothing to its name, and we have administrators who cannot resign by themselves, and we have a Special Prosecutor who cannot even arrest a chicken,” he said.
Prophet Kofi Oduro’s outburst comes on the back of pressure from a section of the public on the new Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, to cause the removal of Kurt Okraku, the President of the GFA.
Veteran football administrator, Alhaji Grusah, is one of many Ghanaians demanding a change in the current leadership of the GFA.
Speaking in an interview with Asempa FM, Alhaji Grusah highlighted the challenges facing Ghana football and joined the growing chorus of Ghanaians calling for changes at the top of the GFA.
“We performed woefully in Ivory Coast and still failed to qualify for AFCON, despite being in a group with Niger, Sudan, and Angola,” Grusah lamented.
He further criticized the current administration and urged President Mahama to take bold steps to address the issue.
“The government should sack them and not fear a FIFA ban because FIFA didn’t create Ghana football. If the government truly wants to improve Ghana football, they need to overhaul the Football Association,” he added.

Forgiveness is often seen as a noble act, but radical forgiveness goes beyond simply letting go of resentment—it is a transformative process that can unlock deep personal growth, emotional freedom, and lasting inner peace. Unlike traditional forgiveness, which may still carry emotional scars, radical forgiveness reframes painful experiences as opportunities for healing, learning, and self-empowerment.

Vintage fashion has made a strong comeback in recent years, with its timeless appeal and ability to blend elegance with simplicity. Among the most sought-after vintage styles are short dresses, which exude a charming and playful vibe. These dresses, often inspired by the 1950s and 1960s, are perfect for ladies who appreciate classic aesthetics with a modern twist.
The latest vintage short dresses for ladies focus on clean lines, flattering silhouettes, and minimalistic designs that still capture the essence of retro fashion. One of the most popular styles is the A-line dress, which is flattering on almost every body shape. This design accentuates the waist and flows gently over the hips, creating a balanced and feminine look. The dress may feature details such as subtle pleats or a button-down front, adding to its vintage charm without overwhelming the outfit.
Another trend is the fit-and-flare dress, which mirrors the styles of the ’50s. The dress features a fitted bodice that transitions into a fuller skirt, creating an hourglass silhouette. These dresses are often made from lightweight fabrics like cotton or linen, making them ideal for warmer weather. They can be paired with simple accessories, such as a thin belt, to accentuate the waist and complete the vintage look.
For those who prefer a more casual yet stylish option, vintage-inspired shirt dresses are perfect. With their button-up fronts and structured collars, these dresses combine simplicity with sophistication. Available in a variety of prints, from polka dots to floral patterns, these dresses are versatile and can be worn for various occasions, whether it’s a day out with friends or a casual workday.
In terms of color, pastel shades, like soft pinks, mint greens, and powder blues, are popular choices. They evoke a sense of nostalgia while still feeling fresh and modern. For a bolder statement, deep reds, classic navy, and black offer an air of sophistication.
In conclusion, the latest vintage short dresses for ladies provide a perfect blend of timeless style and modern sensibility. Whether opting for an A-line, fit-and-flare, or shirt dress, these pieces embody the essence of vintage fashion while offering comfort, versatility, and elegance. Whether dressed up with heels or kept casual with flats, these dresses are a must-have in any woman’s wardrobe.
Senator Prince Ned Munir Nwoko has firmly refuted recent rumours alleging that he plans to marry Nollywood actress Chika Ike as his seventh wife and that she is pregnant with his child. In a statement issued on February 17, 2025, Mr. Nwoko described these claims as “entirely baseless and a product of malicious speculation.”
The rumours gained traction following the deactivation of Nwoko’s wife, Regina Daniels’ Instagram account, leading to public speculation about their marriage. Nwoko addressed these unfounded reports, emphasizing his focus on his political duties and urging the public to disregard such misinformation.
The statement also addressed false claims regarding Mr. Nwoko’s comments on polygamy and his alleged support for singer Tuface Idibia’s marital decisions, labelling them as untrue and highlighting the challenges public figures face with fabricated stories.
Mr. Nwoko’s office has called on media practitioners to verify information before dissemination and advised the public to rely solely on official statements from his office.
Fidelity Bank, arguably, the largest indigenous bank in the country is poised to deliver on its promise of making a difference in the lives of its customers and stakeholders.
To this end, the bank has underscored the need for the public to build a strong savings culture to create wealth and help alleviate poverty.
Managing Director of Fidelity Bank, Julian Opuni, speaking at the bank’s media forum, for some selected journalists from the Western and Central regions in Takoradi, bemoaned the situation where Ghanaians preferred keeping their money at home rather than saving it with a financial institution.
He indicated that increased education by financial institutions is needed to help reverse the trend, and give Ghanaians a better understanding of the essence of savings.
“Fidelity, is a wholly owned Ghanaian Bank so saving at our bank can help keep one on track when there are temptations to spend money anyhow,” he said. “Saving at the bank will also enable individuals to fall on their money as and when they will be in need of it to deal with pressing financial issues.”
Mr. Opuni pointed out that the bank’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) is mainly in the area of youth development, health, education and agriculture.
“We give funds to support health projects, grants to build businesses and money to build schools among others. So far, we are assisting in constructing about 15 schools. We have done 12 already and we have three more to go. We believe in impacting positively on others by giving out loans with low interest rates,” Mr. Opuni added.

Ace broadcaster Collins Atta Poku has disclosed that concerns about his safety contributed to his decision to resign from Wontumi FM.
He explained that his mother had a dream about a funeral and cautioned him to be wary of what he consumed at work.
The sports journalist stated that his mother gave him a directive to give money to a colleague who was allegedly envious of his success at the radio station, which he did.
Atta Poku indicated that after fulfilling the directive, he felt the need to leave Wontumi FM and join another media outlet for his peace of mind.
“My mother called me and cautioned me to be careful with what I eat and drink because she had a dream that she was at a funeral. She gave me a directive to put money in my pocket in a white handkerchief and give it to the first person I met at work. She told me that the person was grieving at work because I was overshadowing him.
“So, I saw Kanta at the gate first and gave it to him, saying he had lost his dad, and I had too. My time was up, so let’s not make an issue out of it,” he said in Twi on Wontumi FM.
The broadcaster further clarified that he did not leave due to a grudge with Wontumi FM’s owner, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, well-known as Chairman Wontumi, as alleged by some individuals.
“There was no problem with Chairman [Wontumi]. If the work environment is toxic, you have to leave,” he added.
Afterwards, Chairman Wontumi implored the sports journalist to return to his radio station to strengthen the team.
“He [Atta Poku] should come back from wherever he is at the moment,” he said in Twi.

President John Dramani Mahama officially declared his assets yesterday to the Auditor-General, marking a significant step in ensuring public accountability and fighting corruption.
The declaration, which was made public at the Jubilee House, is in fulfilment of the Declaration of Assets and Disqualification Act 1998, (Act 550), which mandates the President and public office holders to provide detailed accounts of their financial holdings, physical properties, and other assets.
It is also in line with Article 286 of the 1992 Constitution, which mandates public officials to declare their assets upon assumption of office.
The President has also warned all his appointees to declare their assets, stating that a failure to do so by the end of the first quarter of 2025, will result in severe sanctions, including possible removal from office.
President Mahama, in a brief remark after the presentation of documents, reiterated the importance of publicly declaring his assets, a move which highlights the importance of transparency in rebuilding public trust.
He said, “In times past, I would privately present these forms to the Auditor-General in fulfilment of my statutory obligation. I have taken the step of presenting these forms publicly as a way of injecting some openness and transparency into the process of asset declaration.”
The President maintained that while it is all well and good to punish corruption, a more effective way of addressing the canker is preventing it from occurring in the first place.
“I honestly believe that if properly created and enforced, the asset declaration can become a sustainable tool for tackling corruption,” he added.
Warning
On the warning to his appointees to fulfil the constitutional requirement by end of first quarter of the year, the President said he has taken this step to send an unmistakable signal to all public office holders, especially those that he have appointed that, he take the declaration of assets very seriously and expect full compliance from them.
“I have asked the Chief of Staff to send word to all appointees to ensure that they declare their assets by the end of the first quarter of this year, that is by 31st March 2025. I wish to stress that any appointee failing to meet the deadline will face severe sanctions, not excluding removal from office,” he added.

The governing National Democratic Congress (NDC) says it has secured a court order for the recall of Parliamentary election results in three constituencies in the Ashanti Region.
The three, namely, Obuasi East, Ahafo Ano South West and Ahafo Ano North, were some disputed constituencies that were declared in favour of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the aftermath of the 2024 Parliamentary poll.
Speaking in an interview on the Channel One Newsroom, Deputy Director of Elections and IT for the NDC, Rashid Tanko Computer indicated the party’s resolve to unseat all NPP MPs who were declared winners after the re-collation exercise through legal means.
“Three seats are being chased in Ashanti region. We have gotten the court to rule that we should serve them using substituted service. Obuasi East, Ahafo Ano South West and Ahafo Ano North, these three constituencies, we are chasing them. In fact, we filed election petitions against them.
“You know, they used the same modus operandi they used for Okaikwei Central, Tema Central and Techiman South by manufacturing pink sheets. And because they know they have electoral officers who are so corrupt that they can use them to do their bidding, then they will also accept those manufactured pink sheets and use it to declare them. That is why we have run to court.”
Accra, Feb 19, GNA – Ghana has recorded one case of Human Metapneumovirus (hMPV).
This is the first case detected since the country begun testing for human metapneumovirus hMPV in January 2025.
Mr Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, the Minister of Health, announced this on Tuesday in a brief to Parliament on ongoing disease outbreaks in the county.
He said the testing commenced in response to recent increases in respiratory cases in China and some temperate countries in December last year and a case was detected from an elderly person.
“So far, a total of ninety (90) samples have been selected for testing, and only one positive case has been detected for hMPV,” he said.
The Minister assured the public that the risk of HMPV in Ghana remains low, stating that the county has a robust surveillance systems in place to monitor for respiratory viruses, including HMPV.
“The systems have been strengthened in recent years, particularly following the COVID-19 pandemic,we assure the country that any case of HMPV will be quickly identified and managed to prevent spread,” he said.
Mr Akandoh said the Ministry of Health is fully committed to working with its partners to control the ongoing outbreaks and to protect the health of all Ghanaians.
He said Ghana had strengthened her surveillance to detect and track cases and will continue to raise public awareness about prevention and control measures.
The Human metapneumovirus (hMPV) is a respiratory virus that can cause a range of respiratory illnesses, from mild cold-like symptoms to severe pneumonia.
While it can affect people of all ages, it is most commonly seen in young children, older adults, and those with weak immune systems.
The World Health Organisation says the virus spreads like other common cold viruses do, through infectious respiratory particles that spread through the air from a sick person to others.
This means a person can catch the virus when they are close to a sick person or sharing a closed space with them. It can also enter the body by touching contaminated surfaces like doorknobs or handles and then touching the eyes, nose or mouth.
According to the WHO , hMPV infections can be prevented by wearing a mask in crowded or poorly ventilated spaces.
It said the public can improve ventilation where possible by opening a window for air flow.
The WHO says the virus can be prevented by cleaning hands regularly and thoroughly, with either soap and water or an alcohol-based hand rub.
It advised the public to avoiding touching eyes, nose or mouth without cleaning hands first.
“Having a strong immune system can also help fend off infections, eating a balanced diet, exercising regularly, and sleeping properly helps,” it said.
When someone is sick, they can avoid making others sick by staying at home if they feel ill and covering nose and mouth with a tissue or bent elbow when coughing or sneezing.
The WHO says there is currently no vaccine licensed for use against hMPV, but research is ongoing.
I’m in my final year at university, and we’re supposed to submit our project work before graduating. My supervisor is very strict, so people are usually intimidated to approach him.
I wanted to pay a classmate to help me, but the person isn’t done with their own project yet. I’ve been feeling stressed, and I don’t know how to handle this.
One day after lectures, my supervisor asked me to see him. I got nervous and started wondering what I could have done to get called by someone so strict.
When I went to meet him, he asked if I would be free that night because he wanted us to meet at a lounge to discuss my research project. I agreed, thinking it would just be a normal mentoring session.
When I arrived at the lounge, he had already ordered drinks. I greeted him and showed him the progress I had made on my project.
Then he told me that I was stressing myself too much. I had brought my laptop with me, but he asked me to put it aside and join him in drinking. The cocktail he ordered was so good that I ended up drinking more than I intended, forgetting there was alcohol in it. Before I knew it, I lost control.
He suggested I get more of the cocktail if I wanted, so I kept ordering until I completely lost myself. We started chatting like friends, laughing together, and having fun. The man everyone was afraid to approach was now sitting here with me, and I was genuinely surprised.
Then, suddenly, he began complimenting me, telling me how intelligent and smart I was. He said he admired my confidence, and he was just sweet-talking me.
I don’t even remember how we left the lounge. The next thing I knew, we were at a hotel. That’s when I realized what he meant by “I’m stressing myself.” I intentionally asked him why we were there, and he told me that I wasn’t a kid.
He said if I did this with him, I wouldn’t need to worry about my project anymore.
I’ve been crushing on him secretly but I couldn’t speak up because he is always reserved and unfriendly.
He is so handsome and breath-taking. Then I made the first move, I kissed him so passionately first and I know he will be wondering why that happened.
That’s how we started romancing each other, then he went down on me. He kept saying I’m very neat so he could lick me till the next day without him getting tired.
I really enjoyed the foreplay, then few minutes later we started making out. As he was enjoying the sex, he started professing his love for me and how he wouldn’t want me to give my body to any other man aside him.
I was just asking myself that, is he saying all this because he is enjoying the intimacy? But I was happy though because I’ve always wanted him. After everything, we were just lying down staring at each other.
I was still drunk so he asked me to get some sleep since I’m tired and weak. I slept off and when I woke up, I realised he had left.
The next day I went to lectures and I tried talking to him because of the things he told me when we were together.
Guess what? He ignored me. I was shocked, like what’s going on? This man was just acting as if we never met or nothing transpired between us.
Does that mean he took advantage of me? Even though he has confirmed I’ve submitted my project work already but my feelings for him just kept growing. What should I do to get his attention again?

Africa must take decisive action to strengthen tax systems and curb illicit financial flows (IFFs) to close the continent’s significant financing gap, President John Dramani Mahama has stated.
Speaking at a high-level side event on ‘Africa at the Forefront: Mobilizing African Investment and Financing for Implementing Agenda 2063’, at the African Union Commission Headquarters, he emphasised that domestic resource mobilisation is key to achieving the ambitious goals of Agenda 2063 and Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
However, with financing still a challenge, he stressed: “To address the financing gap, we must take a multifaceted approach. Domestic resource mobilisation is crucial. By improving tax administration, combatting illicit financial flows and fostering a culture of tax compliance, we can significantly increase our revenues.”
The financing gap for Africa’s development is estimated at approximately US$402billion annually until 2030.
This gap represents critical investments in infrastructure, education, technology and healthcare, which are necessary for the continent’s transformation.
“To achieve sustainable development, we envision that strategic investments in health, education, energy, technology and infrastructure are essential.
However, the financing gap for these investments is substantial – estimated at approximately US$402billion annually until 2030 in order to achieve the ambitious targets of Agenda 2063 and meet the (SDGs).
“This financing gap is not merely a statistic – it represents the unrealised potential of millions of Africans whose dreams for a better life depend on our ability to invest wisely,” President Mahama noted.
He added: “Our challenge, therefore, is to mobilise domestic and African resources effectively, reducing our dependency on traditional external financing and charting a path toward self-reliance and sustainable growth”.
He lauded the African Union Commission’s ongoing efforts to build capacity among member-states and advocate for fair and equitable international tax rules.
Economic outlook and challenges
Despite economic resilience, Africa’s real gross domestic product (GDP) growth slowed to 3.1percent in 2023 from 4.1percent in 2022. However, projections indicate a rebound, with growth expectedly rising to 3.7 percent in 2024 and 4.3 percent in 2025.
“This optimistic outlook highlights the inherent strength of our economies and effectiveness of our policy interventions,” Mr. Mahama said.
He noted that Africa continues to grapple with structural challenges, with many economies remaining dependent on low-productivity sectors while geopolitical tensions, climate issues and pandemics disrupt growth.
As such, he stressed that without strategic investments in key sectors, economic growth would not translate into significant per capita income improvements.
He highlighted the need to improve tax systems and increase the median tax-to-GDP ratio by 13.2 percentage points to 27.2 percent of GDP by 2030.
He also welcomed ongoing global efforts such as the United Nations Framework Convention on International Tax Cooperation, aimed at eliminating the base erosion and profit shifting which undermine Africa’s tax revenues.
However, he cautioned that domestic efforts alone would not suffice and called for global financial architecture reforms to ensure equitable resource distribution.
Multilateral financial institutions
President Mahama underscored the role of African Multilateral Financial Institutions in financing sustainable development, saying: “These institutions are uniquely positioned to address significant trade, investment and development gaps across the continent”.
Establishing the Alliance of African Multilateral Financial Institutions (AAMFI), also known as the Africa Club, was highlighted as a critical initiative to strengthen Africa’s financial sovereignty.
“This initiative enhances the capacity of these institutions to advocate for homegrown solutions to our continent’s challenges,” he stated.
He also highlighted the African Virtual Investment Platform (AVIP) launch by the African Union Commission to foster sustainable investment.
“By aggregating comprehensive data on investments and related policies, this platform will provide the evidence-based foundation for informed policymaking,” he said.
He further stressed the urgency of accelerating implementation of African Union Financial Institutions, including the African Central Bank, African Investment Bank, African Monetary Fund and Pan-African Stock Exchange.
“By mobilising resources, facilitating trade and financing infrastructure projects, these institutions will help reduce dependency on external aid and foster a self-sustaining African economic ecosystem,” he stated.
Political will and strategic partnerships
President Mahama urged governments, private sector players, civil society and development partners to renew their commitment to mobilising resources for Africa’s development.
“Strong political will and effective policy coordination are crucial for the successful implementation and impact of our financial institutions,” he said.
Ghana, he added, remains committed to advocating for the expedited establishment of these institutions, recognising their significance in advancing Africa’s economic transformation.

Ace sports journalist Patrick Osei Agyemang, alias Countryman Songo
Ace sports journalist Patrick Osei Agyemang, alias Countryman Songo, has told the Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, that his first major act as sports minister should be the termination of Otto Addo’s contract as head coach of the Black Stars.
Songo, who has never hidden his dislike for Otto Addo, maintains that he is not the right person to lead the Black Stars and that Kofi Adams must give him the sack.
He reasoned that the performance of the Black Stars so far speaks to poor performance under coach Otto Addo and that his continued presence is a threat to the progress of the Black Stars.
“The Black Stars have been destroyed. His first major job should be the dismissal of the coach. They should forget about the compensation and fire the coach. Ghana football is in a mess because of corruption,” he said.
Kofi Adams appears not to be a fan of Otto Addo, as he has said that the numbers from the Black Stars’ matches played under Otto Addo do not support his continued stay as head coach.
He also questioned the rationale behind making changes to the backroom staff while maintaining the head coach.
“The data is very poor—terrible. If we were looking at just the data, there’s no way this decision would have been made. That’s why the GFA chose to remove the entire backroom staff. It was surprising, however, that the head coach was retained while the rest were let go. Looking at the numbers alone, it’s a clear no,” he told Metro TV.
However, Adams acknowledged that there might be underlying reasons for the GFA’s decision and stated that the ministry will engage with the FA to assess the rationale behind it.
“Something must have influenced that decision, perhaps financial considerations or enhancements to the technical team. An engagement with the GFA will help clarify what led to this choice.”
The President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, has called on the management of Angel FM to reconsider and change the title of their midday news program, ‘Orgasm News,’ to a more appropriate and professional name. According to him, the current title undermines decency in journalism and does not align with the ethical standards expected from media houses.
Speaking at a media engagement event, Mr. Dwumfour emphasized that journalistic content should uphold societal values and promote responsible broadcasting. He explained that while creativity in media programming is encouraged, it must not compromise ethical principles or offend public sensibilities.
“The use of the word ‘orgasm’ in a news bulletin creates unnecessary controversy and raises concerns about professionalism in journalism. Media houses must ensure that their branding reflects the core principles of integrity, decency, and responsibility,” he stated.
The call by the GJA President comes amid growing concerns from media experts and listeners who believe that the choice of words in news branding plays a crucial role in shaping public perception. Many argue that ‘Orgasm News’ may be misleading, especially to younger audiences, and could contribute to the trivialization of serious news reporting.
In response, some media analysts have defended Angel FM, stating that the station likely intended to use the term figuratively to signify excitement and enthusiasm in news reporting. However, others insist that a more appropriate and socially acceptable title should be adopted to maintain the station’s credibility and uphold public trust.
Angel FM’s management is yet to officially respond to the GJA President’s request. However, industry watchers believe that the station may consider a name change in the interest of maintaining professional standards and avoiding unnecessary controversy.
The Ghana Journalists Association remains committed to upholding ethical journalism and has urged all media houses to prioritize responsible content creation in their programming.
Confusion in NPP as Kennedy Agyapong Threatens Legal Action Against Gabby Otchere Darko’s Company
News Hub Creator3h
Kennedy Agyapong’s communication team has issued a stern statement condemning a report by an Asaase FM reporter, which falsely claimed that the MP was denied entry to the Prempeh Assembly Hall during the Ashanti Region Council of State elections. According to the team, the report is completely inaccurate. They assert that upon his arrival at the venue, Kennedy Agyapong was warmly greeted and invited to enter; however, he ultimately chose to leave of his own accord.
The team demands an immediate retraction and public apology from the reporter, warning that legal action will be taken if their request is not met. They accuse the reporter of a flagrant deviation from journalistic ethics and deliberate misrepresentation of the facts in order to damage Agyapong’s reputation.
In an official statement released by the communication team, they denounced the misleading account published by the Asaase FM reporter in Kumasi during the Council of State elections. “In what can only be described as a flagrant deviation from journalistic ethics, a reporter from Asaase FM published a grossly inaccurate and misleading account of events this afternoon,” the statement read. The team emphasized that such a report is inconsistent with the fundamental tenets of professional journalism and distorts reality in an unacceptable manner.
For the avoidance of any doubt, the statement categorically affirms that at no point was Hon. Kennedy Agyapong denied entry into the Prempeh Assembly Hall. Instead, upon arriving at the venue, he exchanged pleasantries with several dignitaries, including former Minister of Education Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum and Appiah Stadium, a well-known National Democratic Congress (NDC) activist.
The communication team’s strong words underscore their determination to protect Kennedy Agyapong’s reputation and hold the media accountable for irresponsible reporting.

Many designers and brands now offer collections specifically tailored for mothers and daughters, ensuring that both outfits are chic and on-trend. Moms can wear a sophisticated dress or a stylish blouse with pants, while their daughters can rock a cute version of the same design, making the whole look cohesive yet age-appropriate.
Matching outfits also make family photoshoots extra special. The coordinated looks help create beautiful, timeless photographs that capture the essence of the family bond. Whether it’s a casual outing in coordinated tees or a more formal event in matching dresses, these moments become lasting memories.
Moreover, matching outfits foster a sense of belonging and connection. For young children, seeing their mom in a similar outfit builds confidence and a sense of security, as they feel more closely connected to the person they look up to the most.
In conclusion, matching outfits for mom and daughter are more than just a fashion statement—they are a celebration of love, unity, and shared style. Whether it’s for a casual day out or a special occasion, these coordinated looks are a perfect way to highlight the special bond between mothers and daughters.
The police from the Twifo Atti-Morkwa District Command have arrested a 15-year-old girl and her boyfriend (names withheld) in the Mfantseman Municipality of the Central Region for allegedly stealing GH¢41,000 and some gold from a gold shop in Twifo Praso.
The two suspects were arrested on Sunday, February 16, 2025 at Anomabo following a tip-off, which led the authorities to apprehend them.
According to reports, Superintendent Charles Addei Boateng who made the disclosure indicated that the suspects were seen in a CCTV footage entering the gold dealership shop and believed to have bolted with an amount of GH¢41,000 and some gold.
The incident occurred on January 28, 2025, when the girl, accompanied by an eight-year-old girl, visited the gold shop, pretending to inquire about purchasing gold. While the shop attendant, Enoch Boateng, was briefly away, the teenager seized the opportunity to steal the cash and gold.
The girl is said to have shared part of the stolen cash with her accomplices, including her boyfriend, who allegedly received GH¢15,000.
The immediate arrest of the two lovers by the police followed an intense manhunt after operators of the shop submitted footage of the incident showing how the teenager stole GH¢41,000 and some gold from the shop.
Following their report at the police station, Enoch Boateng, who spoke with the media, was unable to ascertain what motivated the girls to commit the crime, which has left the community in shock and disbelief. He also revealed that the two girls were strangers in the town who visited his shop and asked for assistance to purchase gold.
The shop owner, Gifty Owusu, has urged the Police Service to ensure justice and more importantly retrieve the gold and money stolen by the suspects.

The Minister for Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has confirmed the detection of a single case of Human Metapneumovirus (hMPV) in the country.
He made this known while briefing Parliament on the prevailing cholera and meningitis outbreaks yesterday, following a directive to submit a comprehensive report within a week.
He noted that the Ghana Health Service (GHS) began testing for the Human Metapneumovirus early this year after noting an increase in respiratory cases being recorded in China and some temperate countries in December 2024.
He said, “In response to a recent increase in respiratory cases in China and some temperate countries in December 2024, as part of our routine surveillance, we commenced testing for Human Metapneumovirus this year in January 2025.”
According to the minister, the case was detected in an elderly adult, noting that it was out of 90 samples tested.
“So far, 90 samples have been selected for testing, and only one positive case has been detected for hMPV. This was detected from an elderly person,” he stressed.
The minister assured the public that the risk of hMPV in the country remains low, explaining that the country’s disease surveillance systems have been built up after the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We have a robust monitoring system in place for respiratory viruses, including hMPV. Any detected case will be quickly identified and managed to prevent further spread,” he added.
Human Metapneumovirus (hMPV) is a respiratory virus that can cause cold-like symptoms, bronchitis, or pneumonia, particularly in young children, older adults, and immunocompromised individuals.
Cholera
Mr. Akandoh stated that as of February 13, 2025, the cholera outbreak has spread to multiple regions, resulting in 6,145 recorded cases, 719 confirmed cases, and 49 deaths being recorded in the Greater Accra, Central, Western, Ashanti, and Eastern regions.
Despite the concerning statistics, the Health Minister highlighted some positive developments.
“It is worth noting that the situation is improving with active cases now concentrated in the Central Region only,” he stated.
Civil society organisations have committed to tracking the government’s progress on its educational promises, particularly those outlined in the electoral manifesto for the 2024 general elections.
On Friday, February 14, STAR-Ghana Foundation organised a convening in an effort to ensure that CSOs present a unified voice on key education issues. This was ahead of the National Education Forum which started Tuesday, February 17.
The event brought together key stakeholders in the education sector to discuss strategies for monitoring government commitments and driving accountability in education service delivery while serving as a preparatory step towards the government’s planned National Summit on Transforming Ghana’s Education System.
Speaking to the media, Mr Raymond Danso, Portfolio Manager, Right to Services at STAR-Ghana Foundation said “The forum is a good platform for CSOs to coordinate our efforts, ensuring that the issues we want to amplify are not fragmented.”
He added that “We aim to prioritize the key problems in education, reflecting on past solutions, identifying what worked, what didn’t, and offering new alternatives.”
He explained that one of the primary goals for CSOs at the National Education Forum would be to influence the government’s education policies, particularly in areas like financing, teacher deployment, and infrastructure development.
He said by presenting a collective perspective on what has been successful in the past and what needs improvement, CSOs are hoping to provide the government with actionable insights for shaping future educational reforms.
“Beyond this meeting , CSOs are committed to tracking the government’s progress on its educational promises, particularly those outlined in the electoral manifesto. The fragmentation of efforts in the past has hindered greater accountability, but by coming together, CSOs aim to provide a more unified approach to monitoring the government’s commitments.
“We are optimistic that this meeting will allow us to present viable solutions to the government,” said Danso. “We are also committed to ensuring that there is continuous accountability, especially around promises made for the education sector.”
Addressing participants, Ms Eunice R. Abgenyadzi, Head of Programmes, STAR- Ghana Foundation, noted the National Education Forum promised to be a critical moment for civil society to influence policy decisions that will shape the future of education in the country.
Access to affordable internet is crucial in today’s digital economy, yet Ghanaians continue to pay more for data services in the sub-region although the country has been ranked second in terms of lowest average price per one gigabyte.
But what is driving these high costs, and what can be done to make data more affordable?
Mobile data has become an essential part of daily life, driving business operations, education, and social interactions.
Yet, a closer look reveals that Ghanaians are paying significantly more for data, especially those who do not take advantage of promotional packages from telecom providers.
According to UK-based research firm Cable.co, the average cost of 1GB of data in Ghana stands at $0.40. However, the National Communications Authority (NCA) estimates the average price at a much higher $0.96.
But what do consumers think? In an interview with Citi Business News, opinions were divided, with many insisting that data prices remain high.
Nana Yaw is a content creator and entrepreneur he opines that the prices of mobile data is making life for a start-up difficult.
“The current cost of data is really impacting me. Basically, I spend an average of GHS 50 on mobile data ,this is about 3 or 4 GB. I have had to reduce the number of hours I spent over the internet,” he said.
For Patrick Opoku who is a freelancer, he explains that although the cost of data is high he just has to cope with the prices.
“If the prices can come down especially with MTN it will be okay but Vodafone is quite better. But this is a case you need the data that much so you will have to ignore the amount and just get”, he explained.
I interacted with a few more people. Some are exploring the promotional packages being offered by the various telecom providers including Just4U, 2Moorch, Big Time Data and more, but the sentiment about high cost of data is no different.
Interestingly, while Ghana’s prices may seem steep, neighboring countries like Togo and Côte d’Ivoire charge even more—$1.56 and $1.97 per GB, respectively.
The Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications attributes Ghana’s data costs to factors such as high taxes, infrastructure expenses, and regulatory policies.
Speaking to Citi Business News, the, Chief Executive of the Chamber, Dr. Kenneth Ashigbey, emphasized the need for a balanced approach in addressing structural issues within the telecom sector to ensure fairness for both consumers and network operators.
” It is always important to situate these conversations in context. A proper disaggregation of inflation will indicate that telecommunications don’t carry much wait. But be as it may the price build up and inputs are very expensive,” he explained.
He added that it would be in the interest of the telcos for the charges to go down further to increase usage.
Meanwhile, the Minister for Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovation, Sam Nartey George, has inaugurated a committee tasked with developing a roadmap to reduce data costs in Ghana. The committee has 14 days to present its recommendations to make mobile data more affordable and accessible to all citizens.

Ghana, in the next three years, must tackle the root causes of its macroeconomic imbalances and build the foundations of a robust fiscal system in order to support the country’s long-term growth and development, the World Bank latest report, has stated.
It said the country’s recent debt crises and macroeconomic challenges weighing on the country’s growth and development was fuelled by weak expenditure controls, inefficient public spending, and underperforming revenue collection and costly borrowing.
The report titled: ‘Ghana Public Financial Review Building the Foundations for a Resilient and Equitable Policy,’ provides an in-depth analysis of the efficiency, equity and impact of public revenue and expenditure aimed at informing Ghana’s fiscal consolidation efforts as the country seeks to recover from successive and overlapping crisis.
The World Bank indicated that a lack of budget discipline since 2010 had resulted in booming public spending marked by volatility, high interest payments and mounting rigidities.
“Overall spending has risen sharply while non-discretionary spending has severely limited the fiscal space. Government expenditure in Ghana doubled between 2010 and 2022, surpassing the pace of economic growth and reaching unprecedented levels,” the report explained.
Additionally, it noted that Ghana’s borrowing became more expensive, and a growing interest burden started crowding out capital expenditure.
“Between 2020 and 2021, Ghana spent two to four times more on interest payments than key comparators, highlighting a growing debt service burden to bilateral and commercial creditors,” the report revealed.
Again, the World Bank disclosed that Ghana’s domestic revenue mobilisation had declined in recent years and remained below structural peers.
“Collected revenues as a share of Gross Domestic Product declined from 15.7 per cent in 2017 to 13 per cent in 2021. Except for turnover and excise taxes, collection from all major taxes declined. In particular, the persistent fall in revenue from income taxes and VAT stood in direct contrast with the trends over in peer countries,” the report revealed.
Among other suggestions, the World Bank called on the government to put measures in place to entrench fiscal discipline through a fiscal rule to limit the repetitions of such challenges, more effective spending controls, and better oversight of contingent liabilities.
Furthermore, it disclosed that Ghana’s ability to contain contingent liabilities and reduce rigid expenditure would be crucial to sustaining the consolidation efforts, adding that, “It was key to consolidate and deepen sector reforms to limit contingent liabilities, notable in the energy and cocoa sectors.”
“Ghana needs to sustainability and equitably improve domestic revenue mobilisation. This will require the steadfast operationalisation of the country’s Medium-Term Revenue Strategy and the implementation of key reforms including removing Value Added Tax Exemption, reforming the CIT by phasing out tax holidays and exemptions, and strengthening safeguards against profit-shifting, reducing customs exemptions, and enhancing the progressivity if Personal Income Tax,” the report elaborated.
Commenting on the report, the World Bank, Country Director for Ghana, Sierra Leone, and Liberia, Robert Taliercio, said the country’s macroeconomic outlook had improved, but remains fragile.
He warned of a “Premature return to international capital markets that could send the wrong signal to markets and a reversal to unsustainable borrowing cost.”
“Not fully completing the adjustment programme – reducing debt to Gross Domestic Product ratio to 55 per cent by 2028 – could jeorpadise the credibility of policy reforms and the fundamentals for long-term growth,” Mr Taliercio stated
Founder and leader of Heaven’s Gate Ministries, Prophet Kumchacha
Founder and leader of Heaven’s Gate Ministries, Nicholas Osei, popularly known as Prophet Kumchacha, has expressed his thoughts about marriage and the challenges it comes with.
In an interview with Zionfelix on February 19, 2025, Kumchacha noted that marriage does not have any significant value since it involves a lot of problems if couples are not compatible.
He went on to assert that if Jesus Christ had married, he might have missed heaven due to the temptation marriage brings, which could have led him to act contrary to his teachings.
“If marriage were an easy thing, Jesus Christ would have gotten married himself. If Jesus had gotten married, he might as well have missed heaven, especially if he had married a bad woman. Prominent people are crying behind closed doors because of marriage.”
“Marriage comes with a lot of drama, and if we were to come back to life again, I would plead with God to make marriage a contract so people can renew it when they are happy with it. If marriage wasn’t created by God, I would have said it is useless,” he said.
Prophet Kumchacha also noted that a lot of married people are going through depression and other forms of abuse due to settling down with the wrong partner.
“A lot of people have died because of marriage. Because of marriage, people are going through depression and a whole lot of abuse. I see marriage as a poison. If we were to come back to life after death, I would plead with God to stop marriage itself,” he added.

Mobile money vendors in the Berekum municipality of the Bono region on Tuesday, called on the police to beef up personnel visibility in the Berekum township.
In an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA), they said the call was being made in the wake of recurring armed robbery attacks on their economic activities, which often led them to conduct their operations in fear and anxiety.
Stephen Baah, a mobile money vendor in the town, said “We are now vulnerable due to the persistent attacks on some of our colleagues,” and called for police protection.
He said due to the brisk economic activities in the Berekum municipality, traders and buyers as well as many people thronged the township, especially on Thursdays, being the market days to transact various kinds to businesses.
Mr Baah indicated that the mobile money vendors’ contributions to economic development remained enormous due to the growing trend of their activities, hence the need for the police to also protect them as well.
Another mobile money vendor, Linda Attaa, also expressed similar sentiments, worrying that it was difficult for them to identify criminals who transacted businesses with them, saying “some of the people just come to spy on our activities in the pretext to transact business and later launch their attacks”.
They appealed to the Ghana Police Service to treat their plea with urgency to help save lives and their businesses.

Former President of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Kwesi Nyantakyi, has condemned the inhumane act by an individual who stabbed Asante Kotoko fan Francis Yaw Frimpong, also known as Pooley, to death.
According to him, the perpetrator intentionally planned to stab Pooley to death, considering how the incident occurred during a chaotic scene at Nsoatre.
The former GFA boss noted that the demise of the Kotoko fan raises concerns about safety at various match venues for football officials.
“People get agitated over refereeing decisions. The May 9, 2001, incident remains one of the biggest disasters in Ghana football history. We always pray against such incidents, but this is a deliberate action to kill someone.
“The perpetrator might have been remorseful by now, but it’s too late. You have hurt the deceased’s wife and family,” he said in Twi during an interview with Kessben FM.
Nyantakyi called on clubs and footballing authorities to embark on intensive sensitization on hooliganism at stadiums and its repercussions.
“So, club officials, referees, and other stakeholders should educate people on how to comport themselves at the stadium. We should not take the law into our hands and take someone’s life, because there is no return. There should be thorough education on hooliganism in football to prevent similar incidents in the future,” he advised.
Pooley was stabbed during Kotoko’s game against Nsoatreman on February 2, 2025.
The Ghana Police Service have arrested some individuals believed to be involved in the chaotic incident that led to the demise of the Asante Kotoko supporter.

‘I have Been in Law for Too Long’ – Joe Ghartey Reacts After Court Ruling for Afenyo-Markin
News Hub Creator2h
Following the Supreme Court’s landmark ruling on November 12, 2024, which declared the Speaker of Parliament’s decision to vacate four parliamentary seats unconstitutional, lawyer Joe Ghartey, lead counsel for plaintiff Alexander Afenyo-Markin, shared his exclusive views on the historic judgment.
The case, which focused on the interpretation of Article 97(1)(g) and (h) of the Ghanaian Constitution, was initiated after the Speaker declared the seats of four MPs vacant due to their expected absence in the upcoming parliamentary term. In a 5-2 majority ruling, the court determined that MPs could only lose their seats during the current parliamentary term, not due to future absences. This decision effectively reinstates the MPs involved.
On X, Joe Ghartey praised the Supreme Court’s decision, describing it as a critical clarification of constitutional law and parliamentary procedure. He emphasized, “The ruling upholds the sanctity of the Constitution, ensuring that MPs cannot be removed from office based on anticipated absences. This decision strengthens the legal framework that governs parliamentary conduct.”
While acknowledging that two justices had raised concerns about the case’s jurisdiction, Ghartey highlighted that the ruling marked a significant development in addressing debates on the limits of parliamentary authority and the Speaker’s powers. He concluded, “The Supreme Court has set an important precedent, and we look forward to the written judgment, which will offer further clarity on the interpretation of our Constitution.”
The case has sparked ongoing discussions about the relationship between Ghana’s legislature and judiciary within the context of the country’s growing democracy.

Deputy Chief of Staff (Operations) at the Presidency, Stanislav Xoese Dogbe, has taken strong action against alleged false statements made by Adakabre Frimpong Manso on Neat FM.
Through his legal representatives, R.O. Solomon Consulting, Dogbe has formally demanded an immediate retraction and public apology from the journalist and the radio station.
A couple in north-east Pakistan has been detained on suspicion of murdering a 13-year-old girl who worked for them as a maid, for allegedly stealing chocolates.
The girl who goes only by one name, Iqra, succumbed to multiple injuries in hospital last Wednesday. A preliminary police investigation said she had been tortured.
The case in Rawalpindi has sparked widespread outrage and posts with the hashtag #JusticeforIqra having garnered tens of thousands of views and reignited a debate over child labour and the mistreatment of domestic workers.
Laws pertaining to child labour can vary across the country, but children under the age of 15 cannot be employed as domestic workers in the province of Punjab.
“I felt completely shattered inside when she died,” Iqra’s father, Sana Ullah, told the BBC.
He said that he had received a call from the police about Iqra last Wednesday. When he rushed to the hospital, he saw Iqra lying on a bed, unconscious. She died minutes later.
Iqra began working as a maid from the age of eight. Her father, a 45-year-old farmer, said he had sent her to work because he was in debt.
After working for a few employers, she went to work for the couple two years ago, who have eight children of their own. She was earning about £23 ($28) per month.
Police said Iqra had been accused of stealing chocolates from her employers, adding that a preliminary investigation showed that Iqra had been tortured.
Police also say there was evidence of frequent abuse. Pictures and videos obtained by the BBC showed multiple fractures in her legs and arms, as well as a serious injury to her head.
An autopsy is being conducted to assess the full extent of her injuries, and the police has told the BBC that they were still awaiting the final medical report.
“My heart cries tears of blood. How many… are subjected to violence in their homes every day for a trivial job of a few thousand?” activist Shehr Bano wrote on X. “How long will the poor continue to lower their daughters into graves in this way?”
Others have pointed out that her murder was allegedly triggered by something so minor.
“She died over chocolate?” asked one Pakistani user on X.
“This is not just a crime, it’s a reflection of [a] system that enables [the] rich to treat [the] poor as disposable,” another said.
Iqra’s employers, Rashid Shafiq and his wife Sana, have been arrested, along with a Quran teacher, who worked for the family. The teacher had brought Iqra to the hospital and left after telling hospital staff that the girl’s father had died and her mother was not around.
Police told the BBC it was unclear if she believed this to be the truth.
Iqra’s father says he wants to see “those responsible for my daughter’s death punished”.
Despite the public outrage such cases usually garner, they are typically settled out of court and it’s rare for suspects to be successfully prosecuted.
In2018, a judge and his wife were sentenced to three years in jail for torturing their then 10-year-old maid in what had been a highly publicised case that sparked outrage across the country. But they later had their sentences reduced to one year.
Tayyaba was found with severe injuries, which the Pakistan Institute of Medical Science said included burns to her hands and feet. Pictures of the girl also showed cuts and bruising to her face, along with a swollen left eye. She told prosecutors she was beaten for losing a broom.
Under Pakistani law, victims or their families have the right to forgive suspects in a number of serious crimes. To do so, they have to state in court that they forgive a suspect “in the name of God”.
In reality, legal observers say that the primary motive for that “forgiveness” is normally financial, and paying victims is not illegal.
About 3.3 million children in Pakistan are engaged in child labour, according to the United Nations Children’s Fund (Unicef).
Moreover, women and young girls make up the vast majority of Pakistan’s 8.5 million domestic workers, according to the International Labour Organisation (ILO).

Fifteen different research projects being implemented by the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) are on the verge of “extinction” following cutbacks in America’s foreign aid agency spending.
The projects, which the Savanna Agricultural Research Institute (SARI) is implementing as parts of efforts to boost productivity of the agriculture sector, are funded by the United States Agency for International Development (USAID).
The Management of the CSIR expressed concern over the development when Mr Ibrahim Murtala Muhammed, the Minister of Environment, Science and Technology, paid a working visit to the CSIR and some of its institutions in Accra on Tuesday.
The visit formed part of his familiarisation tour to the various agencies under his supervision to apprise himself of their operations.
The SARI is one of the 13 institutes of the CSIR, located in the Tolon District of the Northern Region of Ghana.
The USAID has been supporting SARI to improve the effectiveness of its agricultural research to ensure smallholder farmers in northern Ghana had access to quality seeds and technologies.
Professor Paul P. Bosu, the Director-General, CSIR, told journalists that the Council was exploring ways to continue with the affected projects.
“We are going to have serious shortfalls with the projects that we are implementing. We have to get ourselves ready,” he said, adding that the Council would present a paper to the sector minister to discuss ways to bridge the funding gap.
Other issues discussed included declining donor support, lack of private sector investment in research and development, lack of modern laboratories and facilities, and encroachment on CSIR lands.
The Council briefed the Minister on interventions it was undertaking to swap some of its prime lands to raise funds in support of its operations and solve the funding challenges.
Mr Muhammed expressed delight about those innovations and reiterated his vision to ensuring the commercialisation of their research findings to raise revenue.
He said the CSIR could develop varieties that had the potential to reduce the millions of dollars spent on the importation of essential food items such as rice, tomatoes, and poultry products.
The Minister tasked the various institutions under the Council to present to him a paper and make a “compelling case” to attract funding and investment to boost their operations.
“If we can find a way for some of the institutes to take up the responsibility of providing some of the basic needs of state institutions such as the School Feeding Programme, and build the capacities of our SMEs, we can build upon that,” he said.
Former Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Joseph Osei Owusu, popularly known as Joe Wise has accused the incumbent Speaker of Parliament, Alban Kingsford Bagbin, of being a dictator in the discharge of his duties in Parliament.
Speaking on Asetena Pa with Akoto Mansa in an interview shared on YouTube, the former Member of Parliament for Bekwai stated that the Speaker assumes powers beyond his remit and perceives himself as Parliament itself, leading him to act outside his designated role.
“Honorable Bagbin has a different approach, and I don’t agree with him on many things. He approaches the Speaker’s position as though he is Parliament. However, according to parliamentary architecture, the Speaker is not part of the proceedings in the House. Decisions about Parliament are not made by the Speaker; his role is merely to facilitate members in making those decisions. But with Bagbin, even when a letter is addressed to Parliament through him, he quickly responds, which is not right. There are many things he does without consulting MPs. I believe that because he has previously served as both Majority and Minority Leader in Parliament, he now behaves as though he is the leader of the House.”
He continued: “Before the LGBTQ issue arose, he had hired someone to write his memoirs. When that person came to interview me, I told him that I disagreed with the Speaker on many issues. The Speaker behaves as though he is Parliament. Matters that should be addressed by Parliament as a body are often preempted by him. As Muntaka has said, he behaves like a dictator, but that is not how a Speaker should act. A Speaker must create a platform for members and serve only as a guide. While the Speaker can express personal opinions on certain issues, Bagbin acts as though he is the sole voice of Parliament in all matters. That is why I strongly disagree with him on many counts. He even took actions that seemed to deliberately frustrate government business when the NPP was in power.”
Joseph Osei Owusu, who previously served as the Chief Executive of the Driver, Vehicle, and Licensing Authority, noted that during his time as Deputy Speaker, former Speaker Prof. Mike Oquaye never attempted to direct him on how to manage proceedings. However, he claims that the same cannot be said for Speaker Bagbin.
“Bagbin gave me instructions on multiple occasions regarding how to manage proceedings. If you observed, I once stated that when a Deputy Speaker or any presiding member is in charge, they exercise the same powers as the Speaker. Bagbin may be the Speaker in terms of administration, but when it comes to presiding over the House, I am not his subordinate to the extent that I must follow his directives.” Osei Owusu stated.

The Ghana Tuna Association has expressed concern over the current fishing licence regime, describing it as too expensive.
The Association said its previous concern over the amount and dialogues to have it reduced yielded no results.
Speaking to B&FT, the Association’s president, Frank Aihoon, said the US$135 per gross registered tonnage (GRT) for industrial vessels and tuna boats – which was imposed on the industry in 2020 – has been eroding gains of fishers, particularly in the tuna sector.
The previous license fee hike, from US$35 to the current rate, compelled the Association at the time to initiate a court action against the Ministry of Fisheries and Aquaculture Development.
At the time, the sector ministry said the increment implemented to protect fishermen and reduce depletion of the country’s fish stock.
But Mr. Aihoon argued that the pole and line fishing technique, which is the dominant tuna fishing method among Ghanaian fishers, is collapsing and not lucrative as it was due to current prevailing factors in the tuna industry.
This method, he said, is less expensive than purse seine net fishing, which most Ghanaian fishers cannot afford due to price of nets involved.
The Fisheries Commission grants six different types of licencing to various categories of fishers in the country. The categories of licences include artisanal fishing, aquaculture and recreational fishing, canoe fishing, foreign fishing vessels, Tuna fishing and licencing for research vessels.
“Among these categories of the licencing regime, the tuna licencing rate is one of the highest and it is impacting us negatively,” Mr. Aihoon said.
The Tuna fisheries industry
Tuna fishery is one of the most important fishery sectors in the country. There are about thirty registered tuna vessels in Ghana operating with average annual tuna production of about 74,000 tonnes, according to data from the Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA).
Ghana’s tuna fishing vessels catch lots of varieties, including pelagic and migratory species. Most tuna vessels are operated on joint-venture basis, with Ghanaian owners having at least 50 percent of the shares as required by the Fisheries Act 625 of 2002.
The country is a major exporter of fish and one of the countries in West Africa that structurally exports fish and fishery products to the European Union (EU).
As the country’s tuna is endorsed and approved by the EU, Italy accounts for 73 percent of Ghana’s tuna exports; France, four percent; and Spain, three percent.

Controversial Ghanaian pastor Florence Obinim has found herself at the center of a social media storm after making a shocking statement about her husband, Bishop Daniel Obinim, and actress Benedicta Gafah. During a recent interview, Florence claimed that she was not aware of any marriage between her husband and Benedicta Gafah, despite the ongoing rumors and speculation about the two’s alleged relationship.
Her statement quickly caught the attention of netizens, many of whom expressed disbelief and anger at her remarks. Social media users took to various platforms to criticize Florence, questioning how she could be unaware of such a significant event, especially when it involves her own husband. “When the talking becomes plenty, it means the truth dey inside,” one user posted, implying that Florence’s denial may be an attempt to cover up the truth.
The allegations of an affair between Bishop Obinim and Benedicta Gafah have been circulating for some time, with rumors suggesting that they are in a romantic relationship. However, the claims have never been publicly confirmed by either party. Despite this, the persistent rumors have continued to fuel speculation, and many fans believe that there may be more to the story than Florence is letting on.
Netizens were quick to point out that Florence’s statement seemed odd, given the high level of public attention surrounding the alleged marriage. Some even questioned the authenticity of her denial, suggesting that she might be trying to protect her husband or avoid further drama. Others criticized her for appearing out of touch with what was happening in her own relationship, further fueling the debate about the couple’s private affairs.
While some fans have expressed sympathy for Florence, arguing that she might genuinely be unaware of her husband’s actions, many others are less convinced by her claims. The situation has sparked an online debate about trust, loyalty, and the nature of public relationships in the entertainment and religious sectors.
As the drama unfolds, it remains to be seen whether Florence will address the backlash or clarify her statement. Meanwhile, netizens continue to weigh in, with many eager to hear more details about the alleged affair between Bishop Obinim and Benedicta Gafah.
In a controversial move, lawyer and historian Anokye Frimpong has defended the recent raid on former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta’s residence, calling on critics to stop pointing fingers at Richard Jakpa, and arguing that sometimes the law must be bent for the sake of national security.
Speaking on Asempa FM on February 15, 2025, Frimpong stated, “When it comes to investigations, if the state is always required to obtain an arrest warrant and a search warrant, then the government may not be able to conduct crucial investigations, leading to potential embarrassment for the country.”
Frimpong provided a hypothetical scenario to illustrate his point: “Take it like a Bank of Ghana worker has stolen the country’s money and is travelling with it. If you receive a tip-off, would you wait to get a warrant before searching the person?”
His comments come in the wake of a military-style operation on February 13, where armed individuals led by Richard Jakpa, reportedly stormed Ofori-Atta’s home in Cantonments, Accra, while he was out of the country. The exact reasons for the raid remain unclear, and there has been no official statement from authorities.
In further remarks, Frimpong emphasized that strict adherence to legal procedures can sometimes hinder effective state action. “Sometimes, if you are supposed to follow the law, you will lose a lot of things. So, you go against the law and do what is necessary to protect the state,” he said.
He suggested that if authorities receive credible intelligence about substantial sums of money being hidden, waiting for a warrant could allow a suspect to escape or destroy evidence.
“Sometimes, there is no need to follow due process. If your information is correct, the country benefits, and if nothing is found, you apologize,” Frimpong concluded.
Ken Ofori-Atta, who served as Ghana’s Minister of Finance and Economic Planning from 2017 to 2024, co-founded the Databank Group and was its executive chairman until 2012.

Former Minister of Information, Fatimatu Abubakar, has criticized the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, calling for his resignation for spreading falsehoods regarding a fabricated raid on the home of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
During a press conference held last week, the Special Prosecutor asserted that intelligence indicated the raid on the residence of the former minister—who has been placed on the wanted list for his ties to corruption-related cases—was fabricated or executed by imposters trying to undermine the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
