“It is unfair for us to abandon Bawumia; Because in our tradition, nobody has…” – Annoh-Dompreh
News Hub Creator3h
According to GhanaWeb, Minority Chief Whip Frank Annoh-Dompreh argues that it would be unjust for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to abandon Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
He supports his viewpoint by noting that no NPP flagbearer has ever won the presidency on their first attempt in the Fourth Republic.
As such, he believes Dr. Bawumia deserves another chance to run.
Annoh-Dompreh expressed his thoughts during a conversation with Bola Ray, emphasizing his respect for Kennedy Agyapong, acknowledging him as a dedicated party member.
However, he reiterated that it would be unfair to dismiss Dr. Bawumia given the party’s tradition of needing multiple attempts to secure the presidency.
“I will support Dr Bawumia. I respect Kennedy; he is a good man, and I think he is a true blue-party person but I think it is most unfair for us to jettison Dr Bawumia. Because in our tradition, nobody has won the presidency at a go,” he stated.
The NPP faced significant losses in the 2024 elections under Dr. Bawumia’s leadership.
As a result, some party members argue that his poor performance warrants a change in leadership for the upcoming 2028 elections.
They feel that a fresh candidate, rather than someone closely associated with Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, would be better positioned to revive the party’s fortunes.
The BBC has exposed an Indian pharma company manufacturing unlicensed, highly addictive opioids and exporting them illegally to Ghana, Nigeria and Cote d’Ivoire.
In Ghana, the BBC found packets of them, branded with the Aveo logo, for sale on the streets.
Narrowing in on Tamale, the Northern Region capital, BBC reported that many young people are taking illegal opioids.
One of the city’s chiefs, Alhassan Maham, has created a voluntary task force to disrupt the work of drug dealers.
“The drug consume the sanity of those who abuse them… like a fire burns when kerosene is poured on it.”
The BBC team followed the task force as they raided one of Tamale’s poorest neighbourhoods.
On the way they passed a young man slumped in a stupor who, according to locals, had taken the drug.
In India, pharma companies cannot legally manufacture and export an unlicensed drug unless the drug meets the standards of the importing country.

Frank Annoh-Dompreh is the MP for Nsawam/Adoagyiri
The Member of Parliament for Nsawam/Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, has expressed his astonishment at John Dramani Mahama’s return as President of Ghana following his victory in the 2024 general elections.
The lawmaker stated that he had completely dismissed the possibility of President Mahama making a political comeback to lead the country.
He explained that his conviction was based on feedback from several Ghanaians he had engaged, who expressed strong dissatisfaction with Mahama’s administration in 2016, further adding that they viewed him as a risk that citizens did not want to associate with.
“I never thought President Mahama would be president again. I believed it because from what I was seeing in the country and the feedback I was getting from people was that he was a risk they did not want to take due to his former governance,” he said during an interview on Starr FM on February 20, 2025.
The Minority Chief Whip recognised President Mahama’s remarkable achievement in garnering a large number of votes and increasing the margin of victory against the New Patriotic Party, which he had anticipated would win.
He added that, following the NDC’s victory, he conceded his previous misconception, realising that God governs the affairs of humanity, and not solely what man believes should happen.
“I have eaten my humble pie because of the margin with which he won, I realized that God can do anything,” he added.
President Mahama emerged victorious in the general elections, securing a total of 6,591,790 votes, which represents 56.42% of the vote, compared to the New Patriotic Party’s 4,877,611 votes, or 41.75%.

I’ve been dating this man for over five months. He’s not Ghanaian; he told me he was here for work and would eventually return to the United States, where he’s from. He always had a lot of dollars on him and would frequently ask me to exchange them for him.
Sometimes, he’d give me $1,000 or $2,000 to buy whatever I wanted. Even the hotel he was staying at was expensive, and he seemed to be spending a lot. He never mentioned what kind of work he was here for, but it was clear he had plenty of money.
Whenever I went to his place and we made love, he would clean me up. He had almost a bag full of white handkerchiefs, which he liked to use.
He said he wanted his women to feel good down there after sex so he prefers cleaning them with a new white handkerchief himself.
He would throw it in the bin right after, so I didn’t think much of it. I recently mentioned it to a friend, and she asked if I was the one disposing of the bin, to which I replied no.
She then suggested that he might be taking the handkerchief back after I leave and using it for something, so I should try to find out.
One time, after we were done and I was about to leave, I asked if I could take the handkerchief. He refused, asking why I needed it.
I told him I wanted to wash it and use it, but he still declined. Instead, he gave me $500 to go buy as many handkerchiefs as I wanted if that was my need.
I also asked him to give me one of his new handkerchiefs, but he insisted I use the money he gave me to buy a new set.
I became really scared, though I didn’t know why. I went home and told my mother about it, and she came with me to the hotel to see him. When we arrived, we were told he had checked out a few hours earlier.
Is it possible that he may have already done something to me? It’s been over a week, and I keep thinking,
‘What if something happens to me?’ I can’t reach him, and he is not reaching out either. Five months of a relationship down the drain? I’m really hurt because I thought he was being genuine.
Why would he check out of the hotel right after our first argument about a handkerchief?
I’m terrified and restless. I keep feeling like something is going to happen to me, or that I might die. What should I do now?

Mustapha Gbande, Deputy Director of Operations at the Presidency
The Deputy Director of Operations at the Presidency, Mustapha Gbande, has accused the Akufo-Addo government of neglecting the Jubilee House, leading to its deterioration.
According to him, due to mismanagement and neglect by the previous administration, Ghana’s presidential palace has fallen into a state of decline and disrepair.
Speaking in an interview on Asempa FM, Mustapha Gbande, who is also the Deputy General Secretary of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), expressed shock that individuals believed to be highly educated could reside in such an unkempt environment at the Presidency.
“…God will punish all of them. When you visit the Jubilee House now, you would ask yourself: were human beings living there? The entire Jubilee House has been reduced to nothing—very dirty, unkempt, misused, and lacking maintenance. Everything is in a mess at the seat of the President. That is where President Akufo-Addo operated from until January 7. I can describe it as a filthy place.”
He continued: “You would ask yourself, year in and year out, as the presidential budget ballooned at the expense of the ordinary taxpayer, what were they doing? The gardening is poor, the painting is neglected, the lighting is inadequate, and the furniture is misused. The entire building is unkempt. You would wonder: were intellectuals occupying the Jubilee House? People who wore Louis Vuitton suits, expensive watches, and luxury bags—people with a taste for dollars—were they the ones operating from the Presidency?”

An internal restructuring at the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) has led to the resignation of Marina Lamptey, the Centre’s Head of Diaspora Relations, Accra-based DAILY GUIDE has reported.
Ms. Lamptey, daughter of the late David Lamptey, a former Member of Parliament for Korle Klottey and a key financier of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) was recently demoted from her role following the assumption of office by GIPC’s new management.
The newspaper citing its sources within the GIPC said that Marina Lamptey, who played a pivotal role in establishing and nurturing the Diaspora Relations department at GIPC, was relieved of her position as department head.
The move has been described as part of an effort to “strengthen investment promotion efforts” and streamline diaspora engagement according to the newspaper.
As a result, the entire Diaspora Relations Desk is reported to have been dissolved, with its staff now reporting to the Head of Corporate Affairs. This shift effectively merges the once-independent unit into the Corporate Affairs Division.
Ms. Lamptey, who has been with the GIPC for over five years, was instrumental in positioning the Diaspora Desk as a key driver of foreign investment, particularly from Ghanaian expatriates.
Under her leadership, the department became one of the most dynamic units within GIPC, actively facilitating investment opportunities for individuals and businesses within the diaspora community.
Following her demotion from the Diaspora Relations Desk, DAILY GUIDE noted that it’s sources have confirmed that Marina Lamptey has decided to step down from her role, resigning from GIPC with immediate effect.
However, in a professional gesture, she has committed to completing all outstanding tasks before her final departure and assisting with the transition process.
She has also pledged to ensure a smooth handover of responsibilities to her successor, despite the circumstances surrounding her exit.
While the Centre’s new leadership has positioned the changes as part of a broader strategy to enhance investment promotion, the impact on the Diaspora Desk which is one of GIPC’s notable engagement arms remains to be seen.
play videoLate former President Jerry John Rawlings
Ghanaian football great, Philip Opoku Sampene, has recounted an interesting story of how the late former President Jerry John Rawlings gifted the players of the Black Stars a half-piece cloth for beating the Super Eagles (known then as Green Eagles) of Nigeria in a friendly match in 1983.
Sampene detailed in an interview with Dan Kwaku Yeboah that JJ Rawlings was impressed with the performance of the team and showed his appreciation by gifting them a half-piece cloth.
Opoku Sampene stated that the game was his second for the Black Stars and the most crucial one, as his performance in that game became the starting point for his continued stay with the Black Stars.
He mentioned that ahead of the game, the late Ghanaian coach, Emmanuel Kwesi Afranie, had a pep talk that motivated him.
He stated that the game was one of his best in Ghana colours as he controlled the midfield and established his name.
He credited coach Afranie for his role in his career, describing him as his favorite coach.
“Coach Afranie and Osam Duodo invited me to the Black Stars. They used to invite me, Joe Amoateng, Joe Odoi, and Karim Alhassan to join the Black Stars training. It was through that I got a chance, thanks to coach Afranie. He was my favorite coach. He brought me to the Black Stars and gave me a new pair of boots, warning that this was my chance.
“It was against the Green Eagles of Nigeria at the Ahmadu Bello Stadium in Kaduna, and he gave me jersey number 8. I had an excellent game, and we won 1-0. After our victory against Nigeria, JJ Rawlings gave us a half-piece cloth as our reward,” he said.
Unfortunately for Sampene and the Black Stars, Nigeria enjoyed sweet revenge as they defeated the Black Stars 2-1 in the reverse fixture.

Businessman Warns NPP: If You Bring Allan Kyeremanteng On Board, Your Party Will Collapse
News Hub Creator2h
A well-known Ghanaian businessman has delivered a strong message to the New Patriotic Party (NPP), warning of major changes ahead if the party does not address its governance issues. Speaking openly about the current political climate, he predicted a rise in independent candidates if the National Democratic Congress (NDC) fails to produce meaningful results.
The businessman began his critique by highlighting what he views as flaws in the NPP’s leadership, labeling the party’s governance style as “bad” and stating that “everything about it is bad.” He emphasized that Ghana, as a developing country, needs leaders who are committed to truth and transparency, urging the NPP to adopt these values. “As we strive to develop our country, it is essential that we uphold the principles of truth and honesty,” he stressed, underscoring that the Ghanaian people would hold the party accountable for its actions.

He also raised concerns about the potential inclusion of Allan Kyeremanteng in the NPP, warning that it could spell disaster for the party. “The day you decide to bring Allan Kyeremanteng on board, your party will collapse,” he boldly stated. He recalled the NPP’s previous criticisms of Kyeremanteng, calling him “greedy” and “an idiot,” and lamented that the failure to address these issues honestly contributed to a significant electoral defeat for the party.
Reflecting on the 2024 elections, the businessman spoke about the challenges Vice President Mahamudu Bawumia may face. While he had initially supported Bawumia, he revealed that there had been a shift in loyalty, with Bawumia’s own supporters reportedly working against his campaign. “We were initially supportive of Bawumia but ultimately worked against him, utilizing his own people to undermine his campaign,” he admitted.

Despite raising concerns over the commitment within the Black, Sam Johnson believes Coach Otto Addo can lead the Black Stars to the next World Cup.
Otto Addo has suffered backlash from Ghanaian’s due to his poor performance as head coach of the senior national soccer team.
For the first time in 20 years, the Black Stars will miss CAF’s biggest competition after falling short in Group F. The last time Ghana failed to qualify for the CAF’s biggest event was back in 2004.
Ghana struggled in the qualifiers, losing three and drawing three games across the period. Playing six games without a win, the West African powerhouse finished bottom on the standings in Group F, derailing the team’s AFCON qualification chances.
“Yes, I have confidence in Otto Addo. He can qualify us to the World Cup. But football is not only about the coach. I want something for myself, that’s why I’m playing football. If the coach is not good, what am I doing for myself on the field. Do something. We play for coaches who don’t know anything because maybe the coach is not good but he is a human,” said Foryoo.

A prominent pan-Africanist and civil society advocate, Akaneweo Kabiru Abdul, has launched a fierce criticism against President John Dramani Mahama, accusing him of compromising Ghana’s governance standards with the appointment of Dr. Johnson Asiama as Governor of the Bank of Ghana.
In a strongly worded Facebook post, Kabiru insisted that Ghana is not a “banana republic” and that its citizens will not tolerate decisions that undermine accountability.
Kabiru Questions Asiama’s Appointment
Kabiru described the appointment as “controversial and disgraceful,” arguing that Dr. Asiama was previously implicated in financial misconduct during his tenure as Deputy Governor of the Bank of Ghana under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration.
He highlighted two major allegations against Asiama:
1. Wilfully causing financial loss to the state – Over GH¢450 million was allegedly disbursed to uniBank recklessly and without due process.
2. Violating the Bank of Ghana Act – He was accused of breaching Section 46(h) of Act 612 and Section 46A of Act 918, key financial regulatory laws.
Kabiru expressed outrage that the Mahama administration’s Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, worked to dismiss the case against Asiama shortly after winning the 2024 election.
“Who Is the Real Clearing Agent?” – Kabiru Challenges Mahama
The activist accused Mahama of double standards, reminding him that he had once criticized former President Akufo-Addo for protecting corrupt officials.
“You called Akufo-Addo a ‘clearing agent’ for corruption. Now, tell us, Mr. President, what exactly are you doing?” he questioned.
He further warned that if the Council of State approved Asiama’s appointment, it would seriously damage their credibility.
Threat to Involve International Financial Institutions
Kabiru vowed to escalate the issue internationally if Mahama did not reverse the appointment.
“If you do not reverse this appointment, I will personally write to IMF Managing Director Kristalina Georgieva and the World Bank Country Director to alert them that the President of Ghana is enabling corruption under an IMF program,” he declared.
A Call for Accountability
Kabiru concluded by reaffirming his commitment to resisting state capture and fighting against corruption.
“For God and country, we will not allow you to gamble with our national resources,” he vowed.
As this controversy unfolds, all eyes will be on Mahama’s administration to see how it responds to growing criticism over key appointments and governance decisions.

“Change Your Approach, or After Retirement, You May Find Yourself Alone” – Nitiwul Warns Dampare
News Hub Creator2h
Former Defence Minister Dominic Nitiwul has advised the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, to reconsider his approach to leadership, cautioning that failure to do so could leave him without support after retirement as reported by Ghana Web on Friday, February 21, 2025.
Speaking in an interview on Asaasepa FM, Nitiwul stated that dissatisfaction with Dampare’s leadership exists within the Ghana Police Service and across political circles, including both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC).
He urged the IGP to focus on strengthening relationships rather than seeking public approval, warning that neglecting these concerns could have long-term consequences.
“If you retire and organize an event, a funeral, or any gathering, how many people will actually show up?” Nitiwul questioned, emphasizing the importance of maintaining strong connections.
He acknowledged that while Dampare has made efforts in his role, many within the NPP and NDC are unhappy with his administration.
Nitiwul stressed that leadership requires boldness and loyalty rather than an attempt to please the public.
The Bimbila MP further revealed that initial support for Dampare’s appointment has significantly declined, and he advised the IGP to reassess his approach before it is too late.

Ghana stands on the brink of an innovation breakthrough. With a wealth of research talent and a thriving entrepreneurial spirit, the country possesses all the ingredients for technological and economic transformation.
Yet, a critical gap remains—the disconnect between research, innovation, and commercialization. Far too many groundbreaking ideas never make it beyond the lab, failing to reach the market where they can drive real impact.
To address this challenge, a major push is underway to establish a solid legal and policy framework that will unlock Ghana’s innovation potential. Leading this effort is Heritors Labs, in collaboration with The RISA Fund, the UK’s Foreign, Commonwealth & Development Office (FCDO), and key industry and government stakeholders.
The collective goal is to facilitate the finalization of the long-awaited Ghana Innovation and Startups Bill—a landmark policy designed to empower innovators, attract investment, and drive research and innovation commercialization.
As part of this effort, leadership from Heritors Labs, along with officials from the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology (MEST), the Ghana Innovation and Research Commercialisation Centre (GIRC Centre), and consultants from the Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) working on the draft Ghana Innovation and Startups Bill, paid a courtesy call on the Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George.
Discussions focused on outlining a strategic roadmap for advancing the draft bill, emphasizing its critical role in shaping Ghana’s innovation landscape.
“The bill must be finalized and presented to Parliament by July 2025 before the legislative recess,” the minister stated.
“We must activate the bill process by May 2025 to ensure timely progress,” he added.
The minister reaffirmed the government’s commitment to transparency and inclusivity, stressing that “a wider public engagement process will be initiated before Cabinet submission to garner comprehensive stakeholder buy-in.”
Currently, the bill exists as a “zero draft”—a foundational version that requires refinement and stakeholder input before submission.
According to Christopher Lartey, Head of the Ghana Innovation and Research Commercialisation (GIRC), the draft will be shared in phases, undergoing a rigorous three-step validation process at the committee, zonal, and national levels.
This meticulous approach ensures that the bill aligns with the needs and aspirations of researchers, innovators, startups, industry leaders, and government policymakers. It is not just about passing a law—it is about creating a lasting framework that fuels innovation, attracts investment, and drives sustainable economic growth.
Nashiru Salifu, Deputy Director of Science and Technology at the Ministry of Environment, Science and Technology (MEST), reaffirmed the ministry’s unwavering support, stating, “MEST recognizes the strategic importance of this bill in positioning Ghana as a leading hub for innovation and entrepreneurship in Africa.”
The role of Heritors Labs as a key enabler in this process was also acknowledged, with a senior government official noting, “Heritors Labs, in partnership with The RISA Fund and FCDO, has been instrumental in aligning international best practices with Ghana’s unique innovation ecosystem.”
Kofi Ocloo, Vice President of Heritors Labs, stated, “The comprehensive report presented sheds light on the current innovation landscape in Ghana. By highlighting the challenges and opportunities faced by startups and innovators within the Ghanaian innovation economy, Heritors Labs has gathered critical data that provides a solid foundation for the draft bill—one that genuinely addresses the needs of Ghana’s innovation ecosystem.”
“Through collaborative efforts with policymakers, industry leaders, and technical experts, Heritors Labs continues to shape a policy landscape that fosters a conducive environment for startups, researchers, and investors alike,” he added.
Former Ghanaian international Sam Johnson “Foyoo” has expressed his concerns over the level of commitment of Black Stars players.
Foyoo’s concerns follows the team’s failure to qualify for the upcoming Africa Cup of Nations, which will be held in Morocco.
The four-time champions will now seek to redeem themselves in their subsequent games in the upcoming World Cup qualifiers where they will face Chad, Mali, Comoros and Central African Republic.
“Nobody can tell me that our current players are not good. Nobody can tell me that. We’ve been seeing them week by week at the club level, but one thing they have to know is that if you know you can’t risk your leg for the Black Stars, stay away, and Ghanaians will be okay.
Ghanaians don’t have a problem with you because you chose to do this, but if you come and you are playing like there is nothing at stake… they play like Africans when they are playing outside, and it doesn’t work like that,” Sam Johnson told Sporty FM.
Ghana will continue their journey in the World Cup qualifiers next month as they hope to beat Chad and Madagascar to keep their hopes of making to the world’s prestigious competition.

President John Dramani Mahama has failed to honour his campaign promise of ensuring that at least his cabinet is made up of 30% of women.
During the launch of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) manifesto for women ahead of the 2024 elections, then flagbearer John Mahama promised to ensure at least 30% of his cabinet positions will be filled by women if elected.
“I, together with the NDC I shall lead, offer you a social contract. Within the first 14 days of my presidency, I will nominate my Cabinet – 30% of whom will be women” Mahama said at the event held in Kumasi on Monday, September 30, 2024.

Sir Sam Jonah, Executive Chairman of Jonah Capital
The Executive Chairman of Jonah Capital and a well-known businessman, Sir Sam Jonah, has denounced the failure of UT Bank as one of the most obvious instances of economic injustice against the expansion of the private sector.
He claims that the government’s choice to close the bank six years ago has had a long-lasting effect, deterring business people from taking risks that can revolutionize Ghana’s economy.Ghanaian-inspired merchandise
Speaking at the publication of Prince Kofi Amoabeng’s The UT Story: Volume 3, Sir Sam Jonah underlined the importance of protecting companies from political meddling.
He warned that too much government intervention undermines investor trust and impedes long-term economic growth, and he urged authorities to create a stable and predictable business environment.
“This is perhaps the most profound and most painful chapter in Kofi’s journey, for it speaks not only of his success but also of betrayal, of the harsh realities of power and the fragile nature of businesses when it’s entangled with politics.
“The seizure of his bank was one of the most egregious act of Economic Injustice perpetuated by the state ; a move driven by malice ,deceit ,envy and jealousy,” he bemoaned.
“It was not only a collapse of a bank, it was a blow to the very idea that Ghanaians could build something of their own and succeed at the highest level. It sent a chilled message to entrepreneurs and innovators that no matter how hard you try ,no matter how hard you work , how well you play by the rules , your success can easily be undone done by those in power,” citinewsroom.com quotes him as saying.
Prince Kofi Amoabeng, who founded UT Bank and wrote the book, encouraged the younger generation and enterprises to make brave choices that will change the country and expressed hope that they will recover stronger.
“The vision should not necessarily be a bank coming back .The vision that I have now is bigger than the bank: it is about how we can groom and create leaders with the right values who can change the narratives,” he said.
The book’s initial copy sold for GH¢50,000. Prominent CEOs and business executives from many economic sectors graced the launch.
Bibiani Goldstars CEO Akwasi Adu is confident that all Ghana Premier League clubs are fully prepared for the league’s resumption in the 2024/2025 season.
Despite the suspension of competitive play, Adu explains that clubs have maintained all other aspects of operations, including player training, camp stays, and proper remuneration.
“Oh yes, I think all the Premier League clubs, along with our competitors, are eagerly awaiting the league’s resumption. That’s why we’ve kept our players in camps, ensured they are fed, paid their salaries, and invested in their training. We are all set for the league to resume.”
Adu’s optimism comes after the tragic incident on Matchday 19 during the clash between Nsoatreman FC and Asante Kotoko, which claimed the life of Francis Yaw Frimpong, also known as Nana Pooley, following a fatal stabbing.
Although the league is indefinitely suspended, Adu maintains that all clubs continue to train. The league is expected to resume soon.

These styles are perfect for everything from formal events to sophisticated everyday looks, making damask a versatile and chic fabric choice.
1. Elegant Damask Evening Gowns
Damask evening gowns exude sophistication and refinement. The fabric’s textured pattern catches the light beautifully, giving off a radiant and luxurious effect. Often designed with fitted bodices and flowing skirts, these gowns enhance a woman’s silhouette, making them perfect for formal occasions like weddings, galas, or black-tie events. The intricate damask patterns elevate the gown’s beauty, offering a timeless yet contemporary look that’s sure to turn heads.
2. Damask A-Line Dresses
For a more casual yet still stylish approach, damask A-line dresses are a fantastic option. A damask A-line dress can be dressed up with heels for a night out or paired with flats for a day event. The intricate damask designs, whether in muted or bold colors, add a touch of grandeur to this otherwise relaxed style.
3. Damask Blouses and Tops
For a more understated, yet equally fashionable look, damask fabric can be used to create stunning blouses and tops. These can range from fitted, button-up shirts with subtle damask prints to loose, flowy blouses with intricate detailing. These tops are perfect for pairing with jeans for a more casual look or with skirts and trousers for a more polished outfit. The beauty of damask in these garments lies in the ability to combine everyday comfort with high-end design.
4. Damask Jackets and Coats
In colder months, a damask jacket or coat is a great way to make a bold fashion statement. The rich patterns and textures of the fabric provide warmth without compromising on style. Whether it’s a sleek, tailored coat or a chic, oversized jacket, damask outerwear adds an element of luxury and sophistication to any ensemble. Pairing these with simple outfits helps the damask piece stand out and serve as the focal point of your look.
5. Damask Skirts
For a stylish yet practical piece, damask skirts are another excellent addition to any woman’s wardrobe. These skirts can be either fitted, flared, or pencil-style, and the damask fabric enhances each of these cuts with its intricate patterns. Whether you’re attending a formal event or a day at the office, a damask skirt paired with a simple blouse or top can add elegance and depth to your look.
Conclusion
Damask fabric offers a unique opportunity for women to embrace elegance, luxury, and texture in their clothing. Whether through stunning evening gowns, chic blouses, or statement jackets, damask styles are ideal for creating a refined and sophisticated look. With a wide range of options from formal wear to casual styles, incorporating damask into your wardrobe is a sure way to make a statement that combines tradition, style, and modernity.
Former Member of Parliament for Odododiodio, Nii Lantey Vanderpuye, has been appointed as the National Coordinator for the District Road Improvement Programme (DRIP). His new role will see him oversee efforts to enhance road infrastructure across Ghana’s districts, focusing on improving accessibility, safety, and overall transportation networks in rural and urban communities.
The appointment comes as part of the government’s broader strategy to address the challenges of poor road conditions, which have long hindered economic activities and mobility in many parts of the country. DRIP aims to rehabilitate and upgrade district roads to boost local economies, facilitate trade, and improve the standard of living for residents.
Vanderpuye, a seasoned politician and former Minister of Youth and Sports, brings extensive experience in governance and public service to the role. His tenure as MP for Odododiodio saw him advocate for infrastructural development, making him a strong fit for the task of spearheading road improvement initiatives nationwide.
Speaking on his appointment, Vanderpuye expressed gratitude for the opportunity and pledged to work diligently to ensure significant progress in Ghana’s district road networks. “Road infrastructure is a critical driver of development. My priority will be to ensure that DRIP effectively delivers on its mandate, providing quality roads that enhance connectivity and support economic growth,” he stated.
The initiative will focus on repairing potholes, resurfacing roads, and constructing new routes in underserved communities. Additionally, there will be an emphasis on ensuring transparency and accountability in project implementation, with Vanderpuye promising to engage local authorities, engineers, and stakeholders in decision-making.
While his appointment has been met with optimism, some industry experts have called for a clear roadmap and funding strategy to guarantee the programme’s success. “Road improvement projects often face delays due to financial constraints. It will be important for the new coordinator to push for efficient resource allocation and timely project execution,” a civil engineer noted.
As he assumes his new role, Vanderpuye is expected to provide leadership in tackling Ghana’s road infrastructure challenges, ensuring that DRIP delivers lasting benefits to communities across the country.

Gifty Klenam, a former two-term Member of Parliament (MP) for Lower West Akim under the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has officially defected to the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC).
The former MP publicly announced her decision on Thursday morning (January 30, 2025) after obtaining her NDC membership card in the Anlo Constituency of the Volta Region.
Addressing journalists, Klenam emphasized that the NDC aligns with her personal values and urged other disillusioned NPP members to be bold and make the switch.
“Upon consultation with my family, I decided to join the NDC because it aligns with my values and vision for mother Ghana,” she stated.
She also expressed confidence in the NDC’s 2024 manifesto, asserting that it provides the best blueprint for Ghana’s development. According to her, after analyzing the party’s policies, she believes John Dramani Mahama’s leadership will transform the country and deliver prosperity to Ghanaians.
While her exact role in the NDC remains unclear, Klenam has signaled her willingness to serve in any capacity. Her immediate focus, she said, is to connect with the NDC grassroots, empower them, and ensure they find opportunities within the country rather than seeking greener pastures abroad.
Klenam’s defection has sparked discussions within Ghana’s political landscape, as she was a prominent figure in the NPP.
She served in the Fourth and Fifth Parliaments of the Fourth Republic and later as CEO of the Ghana Export Promotion Centre (GEPC) in 2017 under the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia administration.

UCC Student Who Cannot Sit Receives New Car from ‘Yesu Dea’ VIP Buses Owner in Heartwarming Gesture
News Hub Creator12h
In a heartwarming act of generosity, a University of Cape Coast (UCC) student with a medical condition that prevents him from sitting has received a brand-new car from Mr. Yaw Amponsah-Marfo, the owner of the “Yesu Dea” VIP transport company. This benevolent gesture aims to alleviate the student’s daily challenges and enhance his mobility.
The student, whose condition necessitates standing at all times, has faced significant difficulties commuting to and from the university. Recognizing these challenges, Mr. Amponsah-Marfo decided to step in and provide a practical solution. The donation of the car is expected to significantly improve the student’s quality of life, offering him greater independence and ease in his daily activities.
Mr. Amponsah-Marfo is well-known for his philanthropic efforts. In 2017, he donated a 35-seater bus to the CILIA Home, demonstrating his commitment to supporting those in need.
This recent act of kindness has garnered widespread admiration, highlighting the impact that individual generosity can have on the lives of others.
Former Minister of Defence, Dominic Nitiwul, has cautioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP), Dr. George Akuffo Dampare, to reconsider some of his actions, warning that failure could leave him isolated after retirement.
According to Nitiwul, many individuals within the Ghana Police Service, as well as members of both the New Patriotic Party (NPP) and the National Democratic Congress (NDC), are dissatisfied with Dampare’s administration.
He warned that if these concerns are not addressed, they could have serious consequences for the IGP in the future.
“Since I got to know the IGP, it has been over three years that we worked together. He has had his ups and downs, but I believe that as an IGP, one must be bold and loyal, it’s as simple as that. He should not focus on pleasing the crowd. If you want to be effective in your work, you must avoid pleasing the public at all costs, as that could end up damaging the police service,” Nitiwul stated.
“He is doing his best, but it appears that many people are not happy with him, especially within the NPP. Even within the NDC, there are many who are dissatisfied,” he added.
The Member of Parliament for Bimbila further added, “I told him that people are complaining. A lot of people initially supported his appointment as IGP, but that support is no more. He needs to change his approach, or else, after retirement, he may find himself alone.
“If you retire and organize an event, a funeral or any gathering how many people will actually show up? If you’ve worked with both the NPP and NDC and invited them, but no one comes, you should ask yourself some serious questions,” Nitiwul said in an interview on Asaasepa FM, which was shared on social media.

Member of Parliament for Mpraeso, Davis Ansah Opoku
The Member of Parliament for Mpraeso, Davis Ansah Opoku, has called for an end to politically motivated dismissals, stressing that job security should be based on competence rather than political affiliation.
Speaking in Parliament on Thursday, February 202, in observance of World Day for Social Justice, he urged President John Dramani Mahama, and the Chief of Staff to put a stop to the widespread dismissal of workers following political transitions.
Opoku described the practice as unfair and detrimental to national progress.
“Mr Speaker, today is a day for reflection on fairness, equity, and inclusion. But how can we genuinely engage in discussions about social justice when hardworking Ghanaians are losing their jobs overnight—merely due to a change in government?” he questioned.
He shared his personal experience of being denied employment at the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) in 2017 despite being qualified and a member of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP).
“I have lived through this before and know how painful it is. No Ghanaian should have to experience that,” he recounted.
Opoku argued that the dismissal of workers based on political reasons has been a long-standing issue in Ghana’s governance and should not be normalised. “It was wrong in the past. It is wrong now. And it will remain wrong tomorrow,” he stated firmly.
He emphasised that public sector employment should not be tied to partisan interests, as it undermines national development and weakens public trust in governance.
Instead, he called for a merit-based system that values performance and dedication over political loyalty.
In his concluding remarks, Hon. Opoku made a direct appeal to President Mahama and the Chief of Staff, urging them to reconsider the ongoing dismissals.
“If we truly want to reset Ghana and bridge the gap through social justice, then we must start with ensuring fairness in employment,” he said. His statement resonated across the House, with many MPs acknowledging the need for bipartisan efforts to protect workers from politically motivated job losses.
As Ghana marked World Day for Social Justice, Mr Opoku’s message was clear: true social justice must begin with protecting every Ghanaian’s right to employment, free from political discrimination.

Defence minister, Dr Edward Omane Boamah has intimated that the New Patriotic Party’s damage to Ghana is beyond this generation.
According to him, the deep-seated damage caused by the now-opposition political party’s economic mismanagement is worrying and will take a long time to recover.
He explains that the February 20 cabinet meeting opened his eyes to the many ills of the previous government, indicating that Ghana is in a dire situation.
”Sadly, the signs showed their startling stature in bold unfiltered figures yesterday at our first Cabinet meeting, as the Finance Minister exposed the extent of the damage 💔 the NPP has done to Ghanaians and our economy.”
Regardless of how dire the situation is, Dr Edward Omane Boamah is hopeful because John Dramani Mahama is in the driving seat.
“However, I am hopeful! Hopeful because with President John Dramani Mahama in the driving seat, we shall fix the mess NPP has created.”
Read His Post Below
We’re Fixing The Economic Mess NPP Created!
Yesterday, we returned to the hallowed walls of the Cabinet Meeting Room at the Flagstaff House after eight (😎 years. How time flies…
We’re thankful to God almighty for sustaining our dear nation’s democracy.
BUT, what is not in doubt is the deep-seated damage the NPP government has inflicted on Ghanaians, generations to come and the nation as a whole.
It’s regrettable that a ‘We Told You So Moment’ is manifesting as a momentous messy national debt deliberately created by the NPP government.
Truth is six (6) years ago, in 2019 even before COVID-19 hit our territory, I cautioned ⚠️ against Ghana’s Steep Rising Debt in a widely publicised article:
I cited relevant authorities such as, George Carlin, “I think we ought to just go ahead and make “zillion” a real number. “Gazillion,” It seems to me it’s time to do this.”
And added that, “our debt situation is much higher than the reported figure.”
I further stated, “Like many Ghanaians, I am concerned about Ghana’s indebtedness because characteristic of all economic indicators, there are limitations; and for national debts which fuel budget deficits, one of such limitations is hidden debts or what Mankiw (2013) terms, “uncounted liabilities.””
With this background, I strongly advocated that urgent breaks needed to be applied to the reckless borrowing of the NPP government.
Unfortunately, my advice before COVID-19 was ignored!
Like many others, I knew the signs of economic gloom and doom were on the wall.
The NPP’s economic mis-management eventually consumed the investments of many a Ghanaian including the bonds of pensioners and the middle class.
Sadly, the signs showed their startling stature in bold unfiltered figures yesterday at our first Cabinet meeting, as the Finance Minister exposed the extent of the damage 💔 the NPP has done to Ghanaians and our economy.
The damage is deep!
However, I am hopeful!

Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor
The Minister of Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, has dismissed claims that the government is planning to sell the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG).
Speaking on Asempa FM’s Ekosii Sen programme on Thursday, 20th February, he clarified that the government is only seeking a partnership to improve revenue collection within the company.
“We have not said we are selling ECG. Let no one misquote me. We are only seeking partnership in the distribution end vis-à-vis billing, collection activities of their work,” he stated.
According to him, the move is aimed at addressing inefficiencies in ECG’s operations, particularly in revenue mobilisation.
Jinapor highlighted the challenges associated with ECG’s current billing and collection system, citing a personal example to illustrate the problem.
“I’m telling you the truth that in my house, for three months they have not even collected the bills, and that is one of the issues we are trying to resolve,” he revealed.
This, he said, demonstrates the urgent need for reforms to ensure that ECG becomes more efficient and financially sustainable.
The Minister assured Ghanaians that the government remains committed to strengthening ECG rather than privatising it.
He urged the public to disregard misinformation and support efforts to enhance the company’s performance, particularly in revenue collection, to improve service delivery across the country.

Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku
Ghana Football Association (GFA) President Kurt Okraku has dismissed claims that he neglected domestic football matters to campaign for a CAF position following the tragic death of Asante Kotoko fan Nana Pooley.
Okraku’s absence from key discussions after the incident sparked public criticism, with many questioning his priorities.
Speaking during his first meeting with Kotoko since the tragedy, Okraku clarified that his trip was for official GFA duties and personal medical attention, not a CAF election campaign.
“When the Nsoatre incident happened, I was out of the country, not for a CAF slot campaign but to work for the FA and seek medical attention. However, every action taken by the FA was under my directive, and we responded swiftly to the situation,” he stated.
He also renewed his appeal for anyone with information on Pooley’s killer to come forward.
“All of us have a role to play. It’s unacceptable for a single life to be lost. Someone witnessed what happened in Nsoatre, and that person must be honest enough to reveal the truth. It’s a painful moment, but also an opportunity to make a positive impact on Ghana football. The journey to reform our game is tough, but we will get there,” Okraku added.
His meeting with Kotoko is seen as a step toward convincing the club to reconsider their decision to boycott competitive matches until justice is served.
Meanwhile, the FA is working on the league’s return, with reports indicating a possible March 1 restart, while FA Cup fixtures are scheduled for this weekend.

Nana Aba Anamoah Defends Personal Attack on Okraku-Mantey, Claims Taxes Funded His Salary
News Hub Creator9min
Ghanaian media personality Nana Aba Anamoah has recently opened up about her personal attack on Okraku-Mantey, a high-ranking government official, explaining that her actions were driven by frustration over the use of her taxpayer money. In an interview, she clarified that the remarks made against Okraku-Mantey were not just a reaction to his policies or work but were personal. Anamoah emphasized that her taxes contributed to the government officials’ salaries, and as a taxpayer, she expected better accountability from those in power.
The media mogul’s comments sparked debate across the country, with many questioning the nature of her attack and whether it was appropriate for a public figure like Anamoah to express such sentiments in such a public manner. While some supported her view, arguing that public officials should be held accountable for how taxpayer money is spent, others felt that her criticism went too far and should have been more measured.
In a country where many citizens feel disconnected from the actions of their government, Anamoah’s comments resonated with many who are frustrated with the lack of progress in addressing the country’s challenges. She pointed out that, as a taxpayer, she had every right to question the actions and decisions of the government and its officials, particularly those who are paid through public funds.
While Okraku-Mantey did not immediately respond to Anamoah’s remarks, her statements sparked further discussions on the role of public figures in holding government officials accountable. It also raised questions about the balance between personal grievances and professional conduct, especially when dealing with sensitive political matters.
Anamoah’s outburst was not an isolated incident, as many Ghanaians have expressed dissatisfaction with the government’s handling of critical issues. This incident serves as a reminder of the growing desire among citizens for transparency and better accountability from their leaders.
