Beautiful Women’s Formal Suits: Elegance and Empowerment

0

A well-tailored formal suit is one of the most powerful fashion statements a woman can make. Beyond its professional appeal, a beautifully crafted formal suit exudes confidence, elegance, and sophistication, making it a wardrobe essential for every modern woman. Whether you’re heading to a business meeting, a formal event, or a special occasion, the right suit can elevate your look and empower you.

Tailored Blazers: A Timeless Essential

The foundation of any great formal suit is a perfectly fitted blazer. A sharp, tailored blazer creates structure and emphasizes the shoulders, offering a polished, commanding silhouette. For a chic, timeless option, a classic black or navy blue blazer will never go out of style. Alternatively, for a more modern twist, consider blazers in bold colors such as emerald green, deep burgundy, or soft pastels, perfect for showcasing a unique personality while maintaining professionalism.

Slim-Fit Trousers: Sleek and Sophisticated

Pair your blazer with a pair of slim-fit trousers for a sleek and contemporary look. Tailored trousers that fall just above the ankle can add a touch of modernity, while wide-leg pants exude a vintage charm. High-waisted trousers are another popular choice, creating a flattering silhouette while elongating the legs. Choose a fabric like wool or linen for comfort and breathability, perfect for all-day wear.

The Power of a Skirt Suit

For women who prefer a more feminine touch, a skirt suit is an excellent option. A pencil skirt, paired with a fitted blazer, gives a streamlined and polished appearance. Midi-length skirts can also offer sophistication and comfort, making them suitable for both the office and after-work events. Skirt suits in luxurious fabrics like tweed, silk, or satin can elevate your outfit, making you stand out while still keeping things professional.

Adding Personal Touches

While classic styles are timeless, adding personal touches to your formal suit can make it uniquely yours. A silk scarf, a brooch, or a statement belt can transform a simple suit into a work of art. When it comes to shoes, pointed-toe heels or sleek loafers are always an excellent choice for a polished appearance.

Conclusion

Women’s formal suits are more than just professional attire—they are a symbol of empowerment and grace. A well-chosen suit can make a lasting impression, whether you’re attending an important business meeting or stepping into a formal event. Embrace your personal style by selecting suits that make you feel confident, comfortable, and powerful. With the right fit and accessories, a formal suit is a timeless investment that speaks volumes about your poise and sophistication.

World number one Sinner banned for three months

0

Jannik Sinner has won three of the past five men’s Grand Slam titles – all of them on hard courts

World number one Jannik Sinner has accepted an immediate three-month ban from tennis after reaching a settlement with the World Anti-Doping Agency over his two positive drug tests last year.

The 23-year-old Italian, who won the Australian Open last month, is suspended from 9 February until 4 May.

He will be eligible to play at the French Open – the next Grand Slam of the year – which starts on 19 May.

Sinner had previously been cleared of any wrongdoing by an independent panel after testing positive for the banned substance clostebol in March.

Wada had been seeking a ban of up to two years, having launched an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (Cas) over the 2024 decision by the International Tennis Integrity Agency (ITIA) not to suspend Sinner.

In a statement on Saturday, Wada said it accepted the three-time Grand Slam champion “did not intend to cheat”, that the drug “did not provide any performance-enhancing benefit” and that this happened “without his knowledge as the result of the negligence of members of his entourage”.

It means the Cas hearing will not take place, but Sinner will serve a three-month suspension as “under the code and by virtue of Cas precedent, an athlete bears responsibility for the entourage’s negligence”.

In a statement released by his lawyers, Sinner said: “This case had been hanging over me for nearly a year and the process still had a long time to run with a decision maybe only at the end of the year.

“I have always accepted that I am responsible for my team and realise Wada’s strict rules are an important protection for the sport I love.

“On that basis, I have accepted Wada’s offer to resolve these proceedings based on a three-month sanction.”

Tennis has seen some high-profile doping cases over the past six months, with leading female player Iga Swiatek accepting a one-month suspension in November after testing positive for a banned substance when she was world number one.

News of Sinner’s positive tests was announced in August, shortly before the US Open – which he would go on to win.

The ITIA said at the time that the panel found Sinner bore “no fault or negligence” for testing positive for low levels of a metabolite of clostebol – a steroid that can be used to build muscle mass.

It accepted he had been inadvertently contaminated by his physiotherapist, who was treating a cut on his hand with an over-the-counter spray, which was later found to contain the banned substance.

But Wada lodged an appeal with Cas last September, stating at the time that the finding of “no fault or negligence” was not correct under the applicable rules, with a hearing scheduled for 16-17 April.

Wada has now officially withdrawn its Cas appeal and, having accepted the ban, Sinner will not be able to train until 13 April.

The next tournament he can play is in the clay-court Italian Open, which begins on 7 May.

He will miss prestigious hard-court tournaments in Indian Wells and Miami – where he is the defending champion – as well as many of the clay tournaments before the French Open.

The ITIA says Wada’s outcome supports its initial findings.

Will he lose his number one ranking?

Sinner currently has 11,830 points in the ATP rankings, a lead of more than 3,000 over Germany’s world number two Alexander Zverev (8,135), with Spain’s Carlos Alcaraz third (7,510).

The Italian’s ban means he will not be able to defend points gained at tournaments last year and will lose ranking points.

For example, he will miss out on defending his title at the Miami Open which is held from 19-30 March and is worth 1,000 points.

Indian Wells, the Monte Carlo Masters and the Madrid Open are the other 1,000-point tournaments he will miss. The rest of the tournaments are worth either 250 or 500 points.

Losing his top ranking would also rely on his rivals winning multiple tournaments.

What have other players and pundits said?

Former British number one Tim Henman says the ban is “too convenient” and believes it will leave tennis fans with a “pretty sour taste”, while Australia’s former Wimbledon finalist Nick Kyrgios called it a “sad day for tennis”.

“Obviously having just won the Australian Open, to miss three months of the Tour and therefore to be eligible to play at Roland Garros, the timing couldn’t have been any better for Sinner, but I still think it leaves a pretty sour taste for the sport,” Henman told Sky Sports.

“When you’re dealing with drugs in sport it very much has to be black and white, it’s binary, it’s positive or negative, you’re banned or you’re not banned.

“When you start reading words like settlement or agreement, it feels like there’s been a negotiation and I don’t think that will sit well with the player cohort and the fans of the sport.”

In a post on X, Kyrgios wrote: “So Wada come out and say it would be a 1-2 year ban. Obviously Sinner’s team have done everything in their power to just go ahead and take a three month ban, no titles lost, no prize money lost. Guilty or not? Sad day for tennis. Fairness in tennis does not exist.”

Sinner’s lawyer Jamie Singer said on Saturday: “Wada has confirmed the facts determined by the Independent Tribunal. It is clear that Jannik had no intent, no knowledge, and gained no competitive advantage. Regrettably, errors made by members of his team led to this situation.”

Accusations that Sinner has received preferential treatment, because of his status, were disputed by the ITIA.

Karen Moorhouse, chief executive of the ITIA, said: “The way we manage cases does not change, irrespective of the profile of the player involved.”

World number four Novak Djokovic said in October that Sinner’s doping case was “not helping tennis at all”, while Australia’s Kyrgios previously said: “Two world number ones both getting done for doping is disgusting for our sport. It’s a horrible look.”

British player Tara Moore, who was provisionally banned for two years while challenging a doping charge of which she was eventually cleared, suggested top players were “treated differently”.

But two-time major finalist Casper Ruud concluded there was “no discrimination” in favour of Sinner if “you have read the documents”.

What has Sinner said about the case?

Sinner has always maintained he had done nothing wrong but said it created a “difficult” build-up to his US Open victory last September.

After the win in Melbourne, Sinner said he has always maintained that he has a “clear mind”.

But he has accepted responsibility for the actions of his team and in the lawyers’ statement on Saturday, it said he was “acknowledging his partial responsibility for the errors made by his team”.

The ITIA’s investigation found that Sinner – who said in September he was “surprised” and “disappointed” that Wada had appealed – had been inadvertently contaminated with the anabolic steroid by his physiotherapist Giacomo Naldi.

Naldi was treating a cut on his hand using an over-the-counter spray, which had been provided by Sinner’s fitness trainer Umberto Ferrara.

Three days after the doping case emerged last August, Sinner parted ways with Naldi and Ferrara.

Sinner was allowed to continue playing after testing positive because his legal team successfully appealed against the provisional suspensions that were automatically imposed after each of his failed tests.

After his first positive test, the ban was lifted after one day, and after the second test, it was lifted after three days. Those four days count towards the three-month ban he has now accepted.

Attorney-General whitewashing former NDC officials – Godfred Dame

0

Former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame Former Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Godfred Yeboah Dame

Godfred Yeboah Dame, the immediate past Attorney-General and Minister of Justice has accused Dr Dominic Ayine, the current Attorney-General, of “whitewashing” some officials of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) through the withdrawal of high-profile criminal cases.

He said Dr. Ayine is doing everything possible to give some NDC officials perpetual immunity, shielding them from prosecution for offences committed against the state.

At a press conference in Accra on Friday, Mr Dame stated that the posture adopted by the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice threatens to undermine Ghana’s democratic and good governance structures.

It will be recalled that Dr. Ayine, on Wednesday, February 12, held a press conference to justify his decision to discontinue the prosecution of some high-profile criminal cases over what he described as “unethical conduct”.

But Godfred Dame, in a rebuttal, noted that the decision was an attempt to shield NDC members who had been arraigned for crimes against the state.

He said the President, through his Attorney-General, had “become the clearing agent to indemnify their allies who have duly been put before the courts for the commission of crimes”.

“I am, however, reassured by the fact that Ghanaians are discerning enough to discover the illegitimate motives for the discontinuance of the cases in question,” he said.

Mr Dame noted that when Dr Ayine was sworn into office on Wednesday, January 22, 2025, by the following Friday, he had filed a notice of abandonment of the appeal by the state in the Republic v Ato Forson and two others.

On Tuesday, January 28, Dr. Ayine withdrew the case against Stephen Opuni and two others, resulting in the complete “whitewash of their crimes by an acquittal and discharge through the backdoor”.

On January 29, he entered another withdrawal in the Republic v Ofosu Ampofo and another, again resulting in an acquittal and discharge of the accused.

Dr. Ayine also withdrew two different cases the following day against Johnson Asiama, resulting in his acquittal and discharge in one, and a discharge in the other.

“There are more withdrawals and nolle prosequi to be entered by the NDC-led government through the Attorney-General in the subsequent days,” Dame said.

Michael Asare Bediako Steps Down as MiDA CEO, Alex Mould Poised to Take Over

Michael Asare Bediako
Michael Asare Bediako

Michael Asare Bediako, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Millennium Development Authority (MiDA), has resigned from his position, effective 12 February 2025.

Bediako, who has led the organisation for the past year, submitted his resignation letter to the Secretary to the President, Nana Bediatuo Asante, citing the need for fresh leadership to steer MiDA’s future.

Under the terms of his contract, Bediako is required to provide a three-month notice period. However, the government may opt to pay him for the notice period to allow for an immediate transition. Sources indicate that Alex Mould, former CEO of the Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) during the John Mahama administration, is likely to succeed Bediako at MiDA.

In his resignation letter, Bediako expressed gratitude for the opportunity to serve and highlighted his achievements during his tenure. “It has been an honour and privilege to serve as the CEO of MiDA,” he wrote. “While public service has been one of the greatest honours of my life, I believe that at this stage, fresh leadership and perspectives will best serve MiDA and the citizens of Ghana.”

Bediako’s resignation follows discussions with top government officials, who mutually agreed that new leadership would be necessary after the National Democratic Congress (NDC) assumed power following the 7 December 2024 elections. During his time at MiDA, Bediako oversaw significant milestones, including the authority’s transition from a compact-funded entity to a subvented organisation, ensuring its long-term sustainability.

He also played a pivotal role in advancing key projects such as the Economic Enclaves Project (EEP) and the Digital Youth Hub, which have positioned MiDA as a critical player in Ghana’s agriculture-led industrialisation and digital transformation efforts. “Over the past year, MiDA has made significant strides in advancing Ghana’s national development agenda,” Bediako noted. “I am proud of the work we have done, particularly in transitioning MiDA to a subvented organisation and driving high-impact projects.”

Additionally, Bediako strengthened MiDA’s role as a Project Implementation Unit (PIU) under the Office of Government Machinery, showcasing its capacity to deliver large-scale national development initiatives. He also engaged the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC) to explore opportunities for a potential future Compact, building on MiDA’s legacy of successful project execution.

In his letter, Bediako extended his gratitude to President Nana Akufo-Addo for the trust placed in him and to the MiDA Board for their unwavering support. “I express my deepest gratitude to His Excellency, the President, for the trust and confidence reposed in me to serve in this capacity,” he wrote. “I am also thankful to the MiDA Board, which supported MiDA’s mission during my tenure.”

Bediako reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring a smooth transition, pledging to work diligently during the notice period to facilitate the handover process. His departure marks the end of a transformative chapter for MiDA, as the authority prepares for new leadership under Alex Mould, whose experience in public service and resource management is expected to drive MiDA’s next phase of growth.

As Ghana continues to pursue its development goals, the transition at MiDA underscores the importance of strategic leadership in achieving sustainable progress. Bediako’s legacy of innovation and commitment to national development will undoubtedly shape the authority’s future endeavours.

The massage and movement involved in face yoga stimulate collagen, keeping your skin firm.

You can work on face muscles with your fingers to get a sculpted, plumped up look.

Looking for a natural way to stay youthful and vibrant? Yoga, an ancient practice that combines movement, breath and awareness, offers more than just physical fitness. When you bring in practices like pranayama (breathing techniques), asanas (postures), and mudras (gestures), you tap into a powerful source of keeping your energy high, your body ageless and your skin radiant like the Himalayan yogis. Simultaneously, you can work on face muscles with your fingers to get a sculpted, plumped up look.

Face Yoga
  • Begin by gently tapping the top of your head and moving towards the back.
  • Next, tap along your face and neck.
  • Move to your upper back, chest, stomach, and lower back, ensuring even stimulation.
  • Tap along your left arm, covering both directions, including the armpits and sides.
  • Finally, tap down your legs, from your thighs to your ankles, then back up.
  • This technique boosts circulation, supports skin health, and leaves you feeling refreshed and energized.

B. Forehead Smoother

Face Yoga

  • Place your index finger and middle finger just above your eyebrows.
  • Apply gentle upward pressure to lift the skin.

C. Under Eye Yoga

Face Yoga

  • Sit comfortably with a straight spine and relaxed shoulders.
  • Place your index fingers gently under your eyes, just above the cheekbones.
  • Apply light pressure and look upwards while slightly squinting your eyes.
  • Hold for 5-10 seconds and then release.
  • Repeat the movement 8-10 times daily for best results.
  • Relax your face after completing the exercise.

D. Cheek Puff Exercise for Toned Facial Muscles

Face Yoga

  • Sit comfortably with a straight back and relaxed shoulders.
  • Fill your mouth with air, puffing up your cheeks completely.
  • Hold the air in your mouth for 10-15 seconds, moving it from one cheek to the other.
  • Release the air gently and relax your face.

GFA meets Accra Hearts of Oak and Asante Kotoko on Monday

0

The Ghana Football Association will meet with Accra Hearts of Oak SC and Asante Kotoko SC on Monday, February 17, 2025, to discuss the remaining proposals sent by the two clubs to the Association.

It must be noted that the GFA has already addressed all the safety and security aspects of the proposals through the newly introduced Enhanced Matchday Safety and Security Protocol 2025, which has since been shared with the clubs and all stakeholders of the Premier League.

It must further be noted that the Autonomous Premier League, which is the brain child of the FA President, and backed by the Executive Council, has already been registered as a company with the Registrar of Companies under Ghanaian law and its bank accounts opened by the Implementation Committee headed by His Majesty Togbe Afede XIV.

Thus, the Association has, in effect, handed over the Autonomous Premier League company to the Premier League clubs, since the Implementation Committee members will only be replaced on the Board by the directors of the 18 clubs.

The process reached a stage where each Premier League club was to submit its rightful board representative (Director) to serve on the Board of the Autonomous Premier League Limited.

The Football Association, being a promotor of the Autonomous Premier League, is very eager for the clubs to move the implementation forward.

The Association is pleased to be meeting Accra Hearts of Oak SC and Asante Kotoko SC to further engage on their remaining proposals.

The Association also looks forward to another meeting with all the Premier League clubs in the coming week on the Enhanced Matchday Safety and Security Protocols and other issues in relation to the Ghana Premier League.

Make use of our legends before they pass away – Amanzeba Nat Brew tells GTA

Ghanaian Highlife musician Amanzeba Nat Brew Ghanaian Highlife musician Amanzeba Nat Brew

Ghanaian Highlife musician Amanzeba Nat Brew has urged the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) to involve veterans who have significantly impacted the creative arts industry in their initiatives.

In an interview with GhanaWeb’s Joseph Henry Mensah on February 14, 2025, Amanzeba emphasised that involving personalities like Azumah Nelson and others would help generate revenue for the country.

He stated that the ministry and other relevant institutions should not wait for these veterans to pass away before recognising their value.

“The Ministry of Tourism must wake up and start thinking right because tourism can give us more than the galamsey and everything we are doing here that is causing havoc to the environment. We have most of the legends walking on the streets of Accra, such as Azumah Nelson, and we are just looking at them until they pass away,” he stated

Amanzeba pointed out that Azumah Nelson, a member of the ‘World Hall of Fame’, and Robert Mensah, Africa’s number-one goalkeeper, are just two examples of individuals whose names and images could be leveraged to boost tourism.

“Azumah Nelson is in the World Hall of Fame, for Christ’s sake… Africa’s number-one goalkeeper, Robert Mensah, is a Ghanaian. Do you know what we can do with his name and image in respect of tourism? They shouldn’t sit in the office, cross their legs, and think that we are going to get funding,” he added.

Amanzeba further stated that involving such personalities in the daily operations of the ministry could generate revenue for the country without relying on international funding.

“There are initiatives we can undertake that would generate funds on their own, without needing government contributions or efforts from international bodies. Let them come to us… Let’s stop borrowing money from others,” he concluded.

Travel to America and look for Ofori-Atta – Kpebu to Special Prosecutor

0

Private legal practitioner, Martin Kpebu Private legal practitioner, Martin Kpebu

Private legal Practitioner, Martin Kpebu, has called on the Special Prosecutor to travel to the address of the former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, in the United States of America, to interview him regarding the pending investigation on the alleged corruption and corruption-related offences against him.

He said this move is possible, as the OSP, during his investigation on the Airbus scandal, traveled to the United Kingdom to dig deeper for more information.

Speaking on TV3’s The Keypoints, monitored by GhanaWeb, the legal luminary said this advice, when adhered to, will squash claims that the declaration of the former finance minister was a political witch hunt.

“I disagree with his reasons for declaring Ofori-Atta wanted. I side with Mary Addah that Kissi Agyebeng should rather travel out to the US; Mayo Clinic or the address given and look for Ofori-Atta there.

“He has done that in the past. My understanding is that when he was doing the Airbus investigation, he went to the UK, etc. Even if he has never done it, he can always do so, so that we don’t do it in such a manner that it will be seen as a political witch hunt,” he stated.

Martin Kpebu also said the Special Prosecutor must look into the medical claims of Ofori-Atta to determine whether they are factual before making further comments.

He said, “Once Ofori-Atta’s letter predates Kissi Agyebeng’s request for him to come and answer, I think we should tread cautiously, investigate the bona fides of the medical claim, go into it and see that no, there is a ruse, he is not really sick, etc., then we can be on your side.”

The private legal practitioner also noted that he has an issue with the timing of the pursuit of the former finance minister.

He questioned why the OSP would wait for Ofori-Atta to leave the country before going after him when the corruption-related offences have been in existence for quite some time.

Ken Ofori-Atta is wanted by the OSP for cases being investigated, including the loss reduction contract between ECG and Beijing Jao, procurement over National Cathedral, contracts awarded by the Health Ministry to Service Ghana Auto Limited/Ambulances, and the SML-GRA deal.

Lawyers of Ken Ofori-Atta had responded to the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) officially informing them about the inability of the former finance minister to honor an invitation to be physically present for investigation into alleged corruption charges.

They stated that he was receiving medical care from the Mayo Clinic in the United States of America.

Miss Universe Nigeria, Adetshina’s  mother arrested in South Africa

South African authorities have arrested Anabela Rungo, the mother of Miss Universe Nigeria, Chidimma Adetshina, over allegations of fraudulently obtaining a South African identity document.

The Department of Home Affairs confirmed that Rungo, a Mozambican national, was apprehended at a hideout in Cape Town on Saturday in a joint operation by Home Affairs investigators and the South African Police Service reports local news platform, Sunday World.

Department spokesperson Siya Qoza was reported to have stated that Rungo had been declared persona non grata in September 2024 after officials uncovered irregularities in her residency status.

“Investigators from the department, assisted by SAPS, detained Anabela Rungo at a property in Cape Town. The Department withdrew Rungo’s South African documentation in September 2024 after finding that it had been fraudulently obtained, rendering her ineligible to continue residing in South Africa,” Qoza said.

Rungo’s status came under scrutiny following the controversy surrounding her daughter’s participation in the Miss South Africa beauty pageant.

It was later revealed that Adetshina was ineligible to contest, as she was not a South African citizen.

At the time of her arrest, Rungo was reportedly with Adetshina’s minor child, prompting the authorities to engage the Department of Social Development and SAPS Child Protection Services to ensure the child’s welfare.

Qoza accused Rungo of deliberately defying the country’s immigration laws, despite being declared undesirable.

“It appears that Rungo has defied her ‘undesirable’ status through her Mozambican passport. Investigations are ongoing into further potential misrepresentation and fraudulent conduct.

“After being processed by Home Affairs over her illegal continued residence in South Africa, she will be handed over to SAPS, as she is also the subject of an ongoing Hawks investigation,” he added.

The PUNCH reports that Adetshina with Nigerian origin, withdrew from the Miss SA pageant and later contested in Miss Universe Nigeria, where she emerged as the winner following the revelation of her immigration status.

She would later finish first runner up at the Miss Universe pageant in Mexico last November.
