Ameenu Shardow is the Team Manager of the Black Stars
Black Stars Team Manager Ameenu Shardow has offered a surprisingly optimistic perspective on the recent stabbing of Francis Frimpong, popularly known as Pooley, a passionate supporter of Asante Kotoko.
Pooley was fatally stabbed during Kotoko’s clash against Nsoatreman on Sunday, February 2, 2025.
The incident occurred after an on-field altercation between players escalated into the stands, resulting in the horrific tragedy.
Despite the alarming nature of the event, Shardow believes it could serve as a crucial turning point for Ghanaian football, sparking necessary reforms to address long-standing issues in the sport.
Speaking on Happy FM, the Black Stars Team Manager expressed his dismay over the incident, lamenting its potential negative impact on an already struggling local football scene.
“It’s a terrible situation because we’re already facing challenges with attendance and other issues in our local football. Incidents like this only make things worse. When I heard about it, I was really hurt because we are working hard to develop our game, and something like this sets us back,” he said.
However, while acknowledging the tragedy as a symptom of deeper issues plaguing Ghanaian football, Shardow believes it can serve as a wake-up call for stakeholders to take decisive action against hooliganism. He also extended his condolences to Pooley’s family.
“This is the result of behaviours that have been allowed to persist over time. If it takes such a tragic event for us to finally address the problem of hooliganism, then the only positive we can take from it is the opportunity to bring real change. But my heart goes out to the family—I can feel their pain and anguish,” he added.

The Majority Leader in Parliament, Mahama Ayariga, has taken a swipe at the Minority, accusing them of failing to fully utilize their numerical strength in legislative proceedings.
In a sharp critique on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, Mahama Ayariga, speaking on the floor of Parliament, implied that despite the Minority having 88 Members of Parliament (MPs), the opposition party was not maximizing its representation in parliamentary affairs.
The Majority Leader made these remarks while refusing an assertion by Minority Leader Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin that he is not able to marshal his members to sittings of the House.
“Mr. Speaker, it is factually inaccurate for the Minority Leader to say that, in the approval of the ministerial nominees, this House did not have a quorum but for the participation of Minority members. Mr. Speaker, is the Minority Leader [Afenyo-Markin] suggesting that Minority members are not part of this House or that they have no obligation to constitute a quorum?,” he questioned.
“Mr. Speaker, if I start citing members of the Minority who are absent from the Chamber, we will not finish… Look at them at all times, they don’t even have one-fourth of their numbers present. Mr. Speaker, as we speak, they are not even up to 18,” Ayariga remarked.
He continued, “Ghanaians gave them 88 seats in the elections, but they are using only 18. In the next election, we will reduce it further,” Mahama Ayariga said as his remarks was met with cheers from the Majority side of the House.
The Majority Leader’s remarks highlight concerns over the Minority’s level of participation in key decision-making processes in Parliament, fuelling public perceptions of inefficiency and a lack of commitment from the opposition in fulfilling their parliamentary duties effectively.

Cape Coast, Feb. 12, GNA – Osabarimba Kwesi Atta II, Omanhen of the Oguaa Traditional Area has appealed to the government to construct a helipad or aerodrome in Cape Coast if the proposed Cargo Airport was technically not feasible in the historic Central Regional capital.
He said an airport in Cape Coast, a nexus for tourism, education, and trade, will improve connectivity and reduce travel time for both domestic and international tourists and businesspeople.
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the former Vice President, announced during the launch of the New Patriotic Party’s 2020 manifesto in Cape Coast his government’s committed to constructing a new harbour and airport in Cape Coast to boost tourism and development.
He emphasised that Cape Coast’s location between Greater Accra and Kumasi made it a hub for economic activity and an airport would further drive infrastructural growth, but that dream was not fulfilled.
Nonetheless, Osabarimba Kwesi Atta in an interaction with the new Regional Minister, Mr Ekow Payin Eduamoah at his Emintsimadze Palace on Tuesday, regretted the previous government’s move to construct the proposed Cape Coast Airport near Komenda.
He could not fathom why a Cape Coast Airport would be built in Komenda in the Komenda-Edina-Eguafo-Abrem Municipality having advocated as such for two decades.
He said: “We have made a request for an airport to be built in Cape Coast, but we were told at a meeting at the Coordinating Council sometime back the facility has been taken to Komenda.”
“Baffled by the explanation, I enquired from them if the people of Komenda have made such a request, and they said no.
“We made the request so if for any technical reasons making an airport in Cape Coast is impossible, it is only prudent and fair we are given prior notice if an appropriate measure could be worked out but that was not done.
“If the length of the runway among others makes it impossible in Cape Coast, then give us a helipad or an aerodrome, that is our request to you.”
The visit served as an opportunity for the Minister to officially introduce himself to the Oguaa Traditional Council and the people before commencing his duties.
In appreciation and honour of the visit, Osabarimba Kwesi Atta committed the Traditional Council’s support to the new Minister to spearhead development across the region, with Cape Coast as the prime focus.
Osabarimba Kwesi Atta however, regretted how some government officials and high-profile dignitaries often visited the regional capital without paying homage to the traditional authority in the community saying, “that is a sidestep of our culture and traditions.”
“Let us not allow the foreign culture influence destroy our beautiful culture. It is improper to disregard the chiefs and people in this regard.
“We are Ghanaians, and our culture should not be trivialised or traded for anything, else we lose our identity,” he advised.
Mr Eduamoah, in a brief remark strongly refuted the pervasive “poverty tag” associated with the region, urging residents to work together to reverse that long-standing narrative.
The Minister expressed his conviction that the region’s vast arable lands, significant tourism potential, status as the cradle of education and industrious human resources provided a solid foundation for economic transformation, and not poverty.
“I don’t know where the narrative of our region being poor emanated from and who did the research because it can’t be true based on our endowment.
“Our region is not poor because we have major education institutions here and is the tourism hub of Ghana so we can’t be poor,” he said.
The Regional Minister reaffirmed President John Dramani Mahama’s economic reset agenda to emancipate the country from the economic doldrums through job creation and agriculture business revolution.
With a focus on inclusivity and equal access to opportunities, he promised to address the pressing concerns of unemployment and skills mismatch that had for long plagued the youth of the region.
“We are intentional about job creation. It is not about how many factories government will set up but being intentional to support productive ventures of all people regardless of political inclination.
“Our land is good for many crops including coconut so if you support us, instead of weeds, there will be coconut. We will make sure every vacant land is occupied with a crop.
“This will make our food crops to attract and retain investment for economic growth,” he said.
He intimated that “until we focused on our gains and build this nation together, we would always be blaming a group of people without focusing on what we could achieve if we come together and contributed our quota to developing Ghana.”
“Governance is a shared responsibility and the earlier we as citizens and politicians look at Ghana at the bigger picture against our parochial interest, the better it will be for all of us,’’ Mr Eduamoah added.
Domestic petroleum revenue recorded in the second half of 2024 decline by 62.63% dropping to US$517 million from US$840.77 million,
According to the Bank of Ghana’s (BoG), Petroleum Funds Report, despite the decline, total annual petroleum revenue reached a record US$1.3trillion, marking Ghana’s highest earnings since oil production began in 2011.
The report, covering up to December 31, 2024, detailed key revenue sources including US$369 million from five crude oil liftings between July and October from the Jubilee, TEN, and Sankofa Rye Nyame (SGN) fields.
It also captures about US$144 million in corporate taxes from oil sector companies, and US$74,000 in Surface Rental fees from Planet One Oil and Gas Limited realising US$3.67 million in accrued interest from the Petroleum Holding Fund.
The report indicated that out of the US$454 million allocated to the Ghana Petroleum Funds, an amount totaling US$136.2 million was sunk into the Ghana Heritage Fund (GHF), which preserves wealth for future generations, while US$317.8 million went to the Ghana Stabilisation Fund, intended to reduce the impact of oil price volatility.
Oil production largely continued on a downward trend, despite the revenue growth in early 2024 while the Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) has also urged the government to prioritise reversing production declines through increased investment in exploration data, and regulatory reforms to attract fresh capital into the sector.
According to PIAC, these measures are essential for revitalizing the petroleum industry and securing Ghana’s long-term energy revenues.

The Noyam African Dance Institute has been honoured at the recently concluded Ghana Dance Industry Awards for its outstanding contributions to the development of African contemporary dance in Ghana.
The Ghana Dance Industry Awards seeks to recognise Ghanaian dance icons, groups, and stakeholders who have played a significant role in advancing the dance industry within the year under review.
Speaking after the event, Ghanaian choreographer and Artistic Director of the Noyam African Dance Institute, Nii-Tete Yartey, expressed that receiving the award was a profound honour and a testament to the dedication, passion, and hard work of everyone involved in Noyam’s journey.
“This recognition is not just for Noyam, but for the entire dance community in Ghana, as it highlights the importance of contemporary African dance as a vital and evolving art form. Over the past 26 years, Noyam has been at the forefront of developing and promoting contemporary African dance in Ghana,” he stated.
“This dream, which began with the late Prof. Nii Yartey, has grown into a powerful genre within the repertoire of Ghanaian dance expressions. Prof. Yartey’s vision was to create a space where African dance could evolve, innovate, and inspire, and today, we see the fruits of that vision. This award is a celebration of his legacy and the collective efforts of all the dancers, musicians, artists, and supporters who have contributed to our growth,” he added.
Nii-Tete Yartey further noted that winning the award served as a reminder of the responsibility industry players bear in continuing to push the boundaries of contemporary African dance.
“This award reinforces our commitment to artistic excellence, cultural preservation, and community engagement. It also serves as motivation to keep inspiring the next generation of dancers and artists to dream big and work hard,” he remarked.
He urged young and aspiring dancers to take their education seriously, as it forms the foundation for transforming their careers and the entire dance industry.
“By combining your artistic skills with knowledge, you can innovate, lead, and elevate the art form to new heights. Education empowers you to understand the history, theory, and cultural significance of dance, enabling you to create work that is both meaningful and impactful.
“This award is a milestone, but it is also a call to action. Let us continue to celebrate the beauty, richness, and diversity of African culture through dance. Let us keep nurturing talent, fostering collaboration, and inspiring change. Together, we can ensure that contemporary African dance remains a vibrant and dynamic force in Ghana and beyond.
“Thank you to everyone who has supported us on this journey, and here’s to many more years of growth, innovation, and excellence,” Mr Yartey emphasised.

The Minority in Parliament has opposed the suspension of the implementation of the National Roads Authority Act, describing it as illegal.
The Act merged the Ghana Highway Authority, the Department of Urban Roads, and the Department of Feeder Roads. However, just a few weeks into its implementation, Roads and Highways Minister, Kwame Governs Agbodza, has suspended it.
The Act, passed in July 2024, aimed to streamline road infrastructure management by merging the Ghana Highway Authority, Department of Urban Roads, and Department of Feeder Roads.
Minority Member of Parliament (MP) Kennedy Osei Nyarko criticized the move: “It is an illegal attempt by the Ministry of Roads and Highways to suspend an Act passed by Parliament without any recourse to the House.”
He said if there are issues with the Act, “the proper procedure is to return to Parliament and ensure the right process is followed”.
Minister Kwame Governs Agbodza defended his decision citing unrest among agencies under his ministry: “Its implementation has generated significant unrest between entities under my Ministry—Feeder Roads, Urban Roads, and Highways.”
He stated that a consensus was reached for temporary suspension after consultations.

“Our goal is to ensure that all road users receive certification and are qualified to carry passengers or loads,” he explained.
He assured that, they will soon be introducing regulations to formalize and license the okada business, enabling them to operate freely and legitimately.
Regarding potential changes in service costs, the minister stated that they will assess the services provided and adjust pricing accordingly.
“Our experience suggests that customers are willing to pay for improved services, particularly if they result in quicker delivery,” he said.
Engagement with Stakeholders
Mr. Bukari Nikpe said they have initiated discussions with stakeholders, including Okada riders, to establish mutually beneficial agreements.
“While we cannot disclose details at this stage, we are confident that our collaborative approach will yield positive outcomes,” he added.

Kwame Kyeretwie-Amponsah is Director of External Affairs of the NPP
The Director of External Affairs of the New Patriotic Party, Kwame Kyeretwie-Amponsah (known as Stonash), has reacted to the ongoing issue of Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa’s rented Airport Hills residence.
Speaking to Asempa News over the weekend, Kyeretwie-Amponsah, who coordinates the diplomatic and international engagements of the NPP, stated that per international diplomatic standards, whoever represents a nation as its foreign minister must be like Caesar’s wife; beyond suspicion.
He said this will create the trust and camaraderie needed to engage and work within the diplomatic and international community.
“The Hon Ablakwa has started on a really bad footing as foreign minister of our country with his rented Airport Hills residential controversy hanging on his neck. His dilly-dallying on the important questions like how much he pays per year, among other pertinent ones, is a grave cause for concern,” he said.
He added that “The statement from his landlord is not specific enough to address the major concerns of the public.”
Kyeretwie-Amponsah also indicated that this will become a matter of concern and worry for the diplomatic community who will assume the impression that the Okudzeto Ablakwa is not straightforward and lacks credibility to be trusted in diplomatic engagements.
“Such a perception by the diplomatic community about our country’s foreign minister is not good for the image of our country. I, therefore, urge Hon. Ablakwa to come clear on his financial obligation to his Airport Hills rented house as demanded by the tax paying Ghanaians, to help redeem his fast tarnishing image in the eyes of the diplomatic and international community,” he said.

Despite the backlash he has since received after announcing his breakup with Annie Idibia, 2Baba has confirmed a new relationship with the Deputy Majority Leader of Nigeria’s Edo State House of Assembly, Natasha Osawaru.
Prior to this revelation, rumours of their relationship had been circulating, with netizens even sharing photos revealing that the two had been involved for quite some time, even when 2Baba was still with Annie.
The rumours heightened on Monday, February 9, 2025, when 2Baba appeared at the Edo State House of Assembly during a plenary session.
Excerpts of videos from his presence at the assembly went viral, seeming to confirm his relationship with the politician.
In the wake of these speculations, 2Baba has taken to Instagram to confirm that he is indeed in a relationship with Natasha and even expressed his intention to marry her.
He shared a picture of Natasha and captioned it: “Now this is my world. Make una help me beg am to marry me.”
In a follow-up video, 2Baba addressed the situation, stating, “She has nothing to do with what’s happening between me and Annie. But I see everybody trying to allegedly rope her into everything. Yes, I love her. She is amazing, she is cool, I want to marry her.”
He urged netizens to refrain from spreading claims that Natasha was the cause of his marital problems with Annie, emphasising that she is not responsible for the tension.
“I said what I said. All of us will be alright… Honourable Natasha, I see she has been dragged, called all sorts of names, and labelled as a homebreaker. She is a young, brilliant, and amazing woman,” he said.
Meanwhile, investigative journalist Stella Dimoko Korkus has reported that 2Baba and Natasha are expecting their first child together.
These developments have sparked massive reactions on social media, with condemnation and disappointment towards 2Baba growing steadily.
2Baba’s announcement of the end of marriage to Annie
On January 26, 2025, 2Baba took to his Instagram stories to state that he and Annie have been separated for some time and have now officially filed for divorce.
He wrote, “Hello to my beautiful people of all federations. Well, this thing I have to say is short but also long… Annie Macaulay and I have been separated for a while now, and we’ve currently filed for divorce.”
2Baba further explained that he will release a formal statement soon, not because it is anyone’s business but because he wants to clear the air about his actions.
“I will grant a press release soon to share my story. Not because it is anyone’s right to know about my personal life but because I love my people and I need them to know my innocence or offense. Stay blessed, my people. I love you all,” he added.
The couple’s 12-year marriage has been in the public eye, particularly with claims of infidelity involving 2Baba.
2Baba’s extra-marital relationships
It will be recalled that Annie recently disclosed that she met 2Baba when she was a teenager, adding that he has been the only man she has ever been with.
However, she said even after their marriage, 2Baba fathered children with two other women.
Annie, in an emotional moment during the second season of the Young, Famous and African Netflix series, disclosed that after their marriage, her first child with 2Baba was his fifth.
2Baba has three children with Pero Adeniyi, his baby mama in the United States, and two children with another woman, Sumbo Ajaba.
Annie disclosed how she discovered 2Baba was still visiting his other baby mamas, especially Pero, and still having affairs with them.

A member of the Ghana Football Association’s (GFA) Safety and Security Committee, Saint Osei, has disclosed that some Asante Kotoko officials attested to the fact that Francis Yaw Frimpong, also known as Pooley, was stabbed outside the stadium at the Nana Konamansah Park in Nsoatre.
He explained that witnesses from Kotoko and other suspects the committee interrogated about the incident said that Pooley was indeed stabbed outside the stadium.
The GFA Security and Safety Committee member mentioned Aduku, Akuriga, David Kwadwo Sakapa, and Baba Iddi as some of the witnesses from Kotoko who made the claims.
Speaking in an interview with Sporty FM, Osei clarified that Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Lydia Donkor’s claim about Pooley being stabbed outside the stadium was factual.
“Witnesses from Kotoko, including Aduku, Akuriga, David Kwadwo Sakapa, Baba Iddi, and others, can attest that Madam [DCOP Donkor] did not speak out of a vacuum.
“Ghana police investigation basically centers on criminality and then GFA’s own has to do with arrangements and ensuring that certain incidents do not occur so we shouldn’t confuse the two, he said.
This comes after some Kotoko fans and a section of the public criticized DCOP Donkor for claiming Pooley was stabbed outside the stadium, allegedly to vindicate the police.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service have arrested some persons believed to be involved in the chaotic incident that led to the demise of the Asante Kotoko supporter.
Pooley was stabbed during Kotoko’s game against Nsoatreman on February 2, 2025.
Popular relationship counsellor, Charlotte Oduro, has finally spoken out about her much-publicised divorce, revealing that she now feels a newfound sense of freedom.
During an exclusive conversation with Oheneyere Gifty Anti on The Standpoint Show on GTV, she expressed that, for the first time in her life, she feels free to love and explore new relationships.
Addressing the ongoing public scrutiny surrounding her divorce, Counsellor Oduro admitted that the journey has not been easy, but she has chosen to embrace this new phase of her life with optimism. She disclosed that even her children have encouraged her to socialise, have fun, and meet new people, reinforcing her belief that life does not end after divorce.
“My 18-year-old son has been telling me to stop worrying about them and go out and have fun. My kids are wonderful. They recently asked me if I had friends or people I hang out with, when I couldn’t give them an answer, they asked me to stop stressing and focus on my life. Serving God doesn’t mean we should look like villagers. This experience has taught me a lot.” She stated.
Her remarks come in the wake of intense debates and criticisms over her previous advice to women on marriage and relationships. Many have accused her of urging women to endure difficult marriages, making her own divorce a subject of public discourse.
Despite this, she maintains that she is focused on moving forward and embracing happiness on her own terms.
Counsellor Charlotte Oduro’s candid revelations have sparked mixed reactions, with some applauding her for embracing her truth, while others continue to question her past teachings and demanding that she apologized for deceiving women.
Regardless, she remains confident in her decision and is ready to welcome whatever the future holds.

How to Dress as a Woman to Look Classy and Make a Lasting Impression at Any Event
News Hub Creator1h
When aiming to dress in a way that exudes class and leaves a lasting impression at any event, it’s important to focus on a few key principles. Start by selecting clothing that fits well, as a well-fitted outfit immediately elevates your look, regardless of the occasion. Loose or overly tight garments can make you appear disheveled, so opting for pieces that flatter your body shape is crucial. Neutral tones and classic colors, such as black, navy, and white, create a sophisticated aesthetic, while adding a pop of color through accessories can bring freshness without overpowering the overall look. Fabrics such as silk, wool, and high-quality cotton are timeless choices, as they tend to hold structure and add a sense of refinement to your outfit.
Choosing simple, elegant silhouettes over overly trendy or flashy styles will ensure that you don’t date yourself while maintaining a sense of elegance. For example, a well-tailored dress or a blouse paired with a pencil skirt or trousers creates an image of poise without excessive fuss. Accessories should complement, not dominate your look. A tasteful handbag, delicate jewelry, and a pair of chic shoes can transform an outfit from ordinary to striking without needing to make a statement.
The key to creating a lasting impression is confidence. When you wear what makes you feel comfortable and self-assured, your entire demeanor exudes poise. Pay attention to grooming, as clean, styled hair and a natural makeup look can enhance your appearance without drawing attention away from your outfit. Above all, remember that elegance is rooted in simplicity and attention to detail, and when you focus on these elements, your presence at any event will undoubtedly be remembered.
Obiba Sly Collins, a renowned Ghanaian highlife musician who has worked with a lot of veteran musicians says Afrobeat, which incorporates highlife, originated from Ghana.
The musician, who has regularly penned several songs to encourage love and harmony among Ghanaians, insisted that Afrobeat was invented in Ghana and not Nigeria.
He is pleased that young people are attempting to turn highlife into Afrobeat and the majority of the veteran musicians, including Gyedu Blay Ambolley are also performing Afrobeat.
The history of Afrobeat began in Ghana when the musicians combined West African regional music with Western jazz and calypso.
Obiba Sly Collins revealed that the late Nigerian musician Fela Kuti is credited with making Afrobeat famous in the 1970s. He started off with highlife before switching to Afrobeat.
The celebrated Ghanaian musician said, “I can tell you with confidence that Ghana is where Afrobeat originated not Nigeria, as some people have suggested.”
Sly Collins, who spent years living in Nigeria, returned to Ghana in 1994 to release his debut album, ‘Don’t Forget Your Culture’.
According to him, hiplife music which is currently well-liked by Ghanaian youth, was also influenced by highlife music.
“Every nation has its own music, so why do we have to abandon highlife to pursue other genres that don’t advance our culture?”he quizzed.
Obiba Sly Collins indicated in an interview with Prudent on DGN that Ghanaians have not only failed to invest in highlife music but have also failed to support the growth of the genre.
He went on to say that because the younger generation do not take pride in Ghana’s status as the birthplace of highlife music, they have also failed to learn from the veterans.
He hinted that the survival of highlife music is greatly threatened by the rise of other musical genres, stressing that highlife must be loved and promoted at all costs.
Dissatisfied with the situation of indigenous highlife music, the renowned musician voiced concern over the genre’s slow decline into obscurity due to its rebranding into other musical genres.
He asserts that highlife music is a beautiful genre that, if promoted, will gain recognition abroad and strengthen the nation’s music industry.
He was of the view that highlife music will succeed if we come together and work as a team to inspire the next generation of musicians to play more of it.
He added that it was important for the youth and up-and-coming artistes to follow the good steps of highlife veterans to project highlife globally.
Sly Collins is credited with inspiring and educative songs which include ‘Asomdwe’, ‘Ghana Odo Nkoaa’, ‘My Lover’, ‘True Love’, ‘Ghana Oman’, ‘Abrabo’, ‘One Day’, ‘Love Is The Key’, ‘Where Is The Love’, and a host of others.
It’s interesting to note that he translates some of his songs into Yoruba, Igbo, Twi, and English so that many people outside of West Africa may understand the message he conveys.
His third album, ‘Odo Fantastic’, was also released by Universal Records in 2000.
He has worked with a variety of gifted young artists, including Agbeshie, Kamelyon, Sherifa Gunu, and Mawunya.
His fourth album, ‘Total Unity’, was released in 2004 via the Nigerian record label OJEZ .
In 2008, he released his fifth album with a peace song. In 2012, he dropped an album featuring another peace song, ‘Peace Election’, in preparation for the 2012 election.
He released another album in 2015 titled ‘Voice of Reason’, which featured SherifaGunu, Atinka, Kodzi, and Sudha Parkeler.
Obiba Sly Collins has firmly planted his name on the Ghana highlife music scene.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has firmly denied any involvement in an alleged raid on the residence of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta.
This follows reports that on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, a group of individuals dressed in military uniforms stormed Ofori-Atta’s home in Cantonments.
According to sources, the incident occurred while he was out of the country. Reports further suggest that Ofori-Atta has been in the United States since early 2025 for medical reasons, having formally notified the Chief of Staff of his travel.
Addressing the press on Wednesday, February 12, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng dismissed the allegations, stating unequivocally that the OSP was not involved in the raid.
“Mr. Ofori-Atta, the OSP did not raid your house on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, or on any other day. Mr. Ofori-Atta, the OSP did not cause any person, however uniformed, to raid your house on February 11, 2025, or on any other day. That could not have been the OSP, and that is not our style. If the OSP enters your premises, you will not be in doubt as to where the OSP had come from, and your lawyers will not have cause to inquire as to whether it was the OSP,” Agyebeng stated.
He further emphasized that the OSP follows strict procedures when conducting searches, ensuring their presence is unmistakable.
“We have our unique methods of searches that are specifically designed to identify ourselves, not just by stating that we are from the OSP,” he added.
The Special Prosecutor suggested that the alleged raid was either staged or carried out by imposters attempting to discredit the OSP and derail its ongoing investigations.
“Our intelligence points us to state that the purported raid of Mr. Ofori-Atta’s residence was staged or, at best, an imposter action in an attempt to cause disfavor for the OSP and to derail the investigation. The OSP is never deterred by such occurrences, and the investigations will continue as prescribed by law.”
Meanwhile, the OSP has officially declared Ken Ofori-Atta a suspect in four high-profile corruption investigations, including cases related to the National Cathedral project, Strategic Mobilization Limited (SML), and two other undisclosed cases.
OSP declares Ken Ofori-Atta wanted in multiple corruption cases
Member of Parliament for Akuapem North Sammi Awuku has urged the President of Ghana, John Dramani Mahama, to reverse the decision to terminate the appointment of Ghanaians employed after December 7.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has issued a directive to former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, demanding his return to the country or face legal enforcement.
Speaking at a press conference on Tuesday, Febbruary 12, 2025, the Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng accused Ken Ofori-Atta of deliberately avoiding his return, dismissing a medical letter submitted by his lawyers as insufficient evidence to justify his continued stay abroad.
“The OSP is unconvinced that the purported medical letter transmitted by Ofori-Atta through his lawyers represents a valid medical report proving that he is incapacitated or so ill that returning to Ghana would endanger his life,” he stated.
“No serious law enforcement agency, and certainly not the OSP, will accept this as a reason to halt its investigations,” he added.
The Special Prosecutor made it clear that Ofori-Atta must return to Ghana voluntarily or face the full force of the law.
“He has no intention of willingly returning to the jurisdiction. That much is clear to us. Consequently, the OSP declares Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta a wanted person.
“You have two choices. You can either return to the jurisdiction voluntarily, or the OSP will enforce your return,” he added.
The OSP has declared Ken Ofori-Atta a fugitive over allegations of causing financial loss to the state in various transactions, including the National Cathedral project and the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) – Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML) agreement.

The Ashanti Regional Police Commander, DCOP Frank Abrokwa, has been removed from his post, sources from the Police Headquarters have confirmed to Citi News.
His reassignment follows the violent disruption of the Council of State election in Kumasi on Tuesday, February 11, 2025.
The election descended into chaos when a group of unidentified thugs stormed the voting center, disrupting the sorting and counting of ballots.
Eyewitnesses reported that the assailants overturned tables, destroyed ballot boxes, and scattered voting materials, forcing Electoral Commission (EC) officials to suspend the process.
The unrest is believed to have been triggered by the unexpected defeat of National Democratic Congress (NDC) candidate Yaw Owusu Obimpeh, who was widely seen as the frontrunner. Aggrieved supporters allegedly instigated the violence, demanding a review of the results.
Security personnel on-site struggled to contain the situation as tensions escalated, prompting a temporary halt in the proceedings. Additional law enforcement officers were later deployed to restore order and secure electoral materials.
Citi News has learned that DCOP Abrokwa has now been reassigned to the Police Headquarters in Accra.

The revocation of public service appointments and recruitments made after December 7, 2024, by President John Dramani Mahama, has faced strong opposition from some notable personalities of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
According letter issued on February 10, 2025, by Chief of Staff Julius Debrah and sent to all heads of government institutions, they have been instructed to revoke all such appointments and recruitments.
“Consistent with government procurement in relation to near end of tenure appointments and recruitments, I wish to bring to your attention that all appointments and recruitments made in the Public Services of Ghana after 7th December, 2024, are not in compliance with established good governance practices and principles.
“Accordingly, all Head of Government Institutions are hereby requested to take the necessary steps to annul any such appointments or recruitments and submit a comprehensive report on the actions taken to this Office by 11th February 2025,” the letter said.
The letter further instructed heads of institutions to provide the full names, designations or job titles, employee identification numbers (if applicable), dates of appointment, and the dates employees were added to the payroll. It emphasised the importance of this exercise in ensuring accountability in the management of public funds.
However, since the announcement, several key NPP members have condemned the action, demanding the legal basis for such revocations. Some have even threatened legal action against the government.
Here are some of the NPP personalities who have called for the withdrawal of the new directive
1. Richard Ahiagbah
The NPP Director of Communications expressed concerns over the precedent set by President Mahama’s directive, warning that it could pose a threat to the country’s democratic stability.
In an X post on February 11, 2025, he wrote, “The John Mahama Administration is a potluck of confusion. They propagandized that the Akufo-Addo-Bawumia Administration failed to order fuel for IPPs after December 7th to ensure power generation and supply during the planned WAPCo pigging.
“But now, by this statement, they are repudiating and claiming that the appointments and recruitments after 7 December are at variance with good governance practice and principle. This is a poor precedent that threatens the stability of our democracy. The COS, Mr Julius Debrah, must rescind this directive and honor the decision of the preceding government. Governance is a continuum…”
2. Henry Nana Boakye
The National Youth Organiser of the NPP, Henry Nana Boakye, did not mince words in strongly condemning the revocations. He argued that the appointments of all affected individuals were made legitimately, highlighting that the workers had followed the proper legal procedures and processes to secure their positions.
“It has been more than a month since President John Mahama took the Presidential oath to “at all times preserve, protect and defend the Constitution of Ghana”; and so, where from this attempt to terminate legitimate and lawful appointments of hard-working Ghanaian Youth who have complied with due process of law to secure their appointments. Has the President so soon forgotten that he also swore to submit himself to the laws of Ghana? The president should know, that there is no legal ground for terminating any appointment known as “good governance practices and principles,” he posted on X on February 12, 2025.
3. Vincent Ekow Assafuah
The Member of Parliament for Old Tafo has threatened legal action against the government, describing the move as ‘insensitive.’
He has accused the government of abusing its powers, asserting that the revocation violates Public Service rules.
“The insensitive JMs government is not only illegally dismissing hardworking Ghanaians in blatant violation of Public Service rules, but is also on a ruthless mission reversing lawful transfers. This shameful abuse of power must be condemned!” he wrote on X on February 12, 2025.
4. Sammi Awuku
In response to the development, the Akuapem North lawmaker argued that the affected individuals were not second-class citizens, emphasising that they had followed the legal procedures before being employed under the former government.
He referenced January 2017, when the Akufo-Addo government assumed office, noting that the former president did not revoke the appointments of officials such as those at CHRAJ and the Auditor-General, as he considered it unconstitutional.
“In January 2017, when Hon. Osafo-Marfo during his vetting suggested a revocation of appointments made after the 2016 December elections, the Akufo-Addo government rejected that pronouncement as it considered it unconstitutional. The NPP respected the fact that President Mahama’s mandate ran until January 6, 2017. For that matter, Osafo Marfo’s prescription was not implemented. So, why is it different today?
“In line with that, the Akufo-Addo government did not revoke the appointments of CHRAJ, the Auditor-General, or the NCCE heads, all because we believed in continuity and respect for due process. Why is that principle being abandoned now?
“Ghanaians who received appointments after December 7, 2024, are not second-class citizens. They have a right to work, just like everyone else. They went through a rigorous process before gaining employment with the Government. Denying them access to employment is a flagrant violation of their economic rights under Article 24 of the 1992 Constitution and SDG 8 which aims to promote full and productive employment and decent work for all,” parts of his Facebook post read.
5. Kwasi Kwarteng
The former spokesperson of the Ministry of Education, describing the termination of appointments as ‘unlawful,’ questioned the silence of stakeholders and pressure groups.
He specifically pointed out how organized labor had threatened a nationwide strike over the SSNIT sale issue under the former Akufo-Addo government but has yet to condemn the termination of appointments.
“Isn’t it interesting that organized labor threatened a nationwide strike over the proposed sale of 60% of SSNIT’s hotel shares between two Ghanaian companies, yet remains unconcerned about the unlawful termination of ordinary Ghanaians’ employment?” he posted on X on February 12, 2025.

In a post shared on X on February 12, 2025, Nana Aba Anamoah referred to the former finance minister as the worst the country has ever had.
She emphasised that he deserves what he is going through due to his poor leadership.
“I render no apologies when I say that this man is receiving his comeuppance. The worst finance minister, who hid his true colours behind Bible quotes and white outfits,” she said.
Nana Aba went on to state that Ken Ofori-Atta should find a Bible quote to address his current situation, given his frequent use of scripture.
“Whatever he experiences now is fine. I’m certain he will find a quote for it in the good book, as usual,” she added.
On Tuesday, February 11, 2025, Channel One TV reported on X that the residence of the finance minister in Cantonments was raided by individuals in military uniform while Ofori-Atta was reportedly out of the country.

Dr. John Jinapor, Minister of Energy and Green Transition
President John Dramani Mahama has directed the Ministry of Energy to bring Italian oil giant ENI and Ghanaian-owned Springfield Exploration and Production to the negotiating table to resolve their long-standing unitisation dispute.
The directive follows a high-level meeting between the President and ENI’s CEO on February 7, 2025, during which President Mahama emphasized the urgency of resolving the impasse.
Sources close to the discussions indicate that the President has instructed that once negotiations commence, they should not extend beyond 30 days.
The dispute, which has stalled the full development of the Afina oil discovery in Ghana’s offshore basin, has been a major concern for the country’s petroleum industry.
President Mahama administration is keen on resolving the matter swiftly to unlock the economic benefits of increased oil production and to reaffirm Ghana’s reputation as an attractive destination for international investment, according to sources briefed on the matter at the Energy Ministry.
Sources have disclosed that both ENI and Springfield have sent strong signals to the John Mahama administration that they are willing and ready to work through their differences and come to a negotiated settlement that would be beneficial to all parties and in the national interest.
The President’s intervention signals his administration’s commitment to ensuring a stable and investment-friendly petroleum sector, sources say.
Industry analysts believe that a timely resolution of the ENI-Springfield impasse will not only enhance Ghana’s oil revenue prospects but also strengthen investor confidence in the country’s regulatory and legal frameworks.
The Ministry of Energy is expected to announce the framework for the negotiations in the coming days, setting the stage for what could be a decisive moment in Ghana’s upstream petroleum industry.
Nana Oduro Sarfo is Executive Council Member of the GFA
Some football fanatics on social media have criticized a member of the Executive Council of the Ghana Football Association (GFA), Nana Oduro Sarfo, for claiming that President of the GFA, Kurt Okraku, is indisposed, hence his absence from public activities.
Sarfo noted that Okraku is aware of the recent happenings in football in the country, especially the tragic demise of Asante Kotoko fan Francis Yaw Frimpong, also known as Pooley.
Speaking during the GFA’s visit to Kotoko officials, Oduro Sarfo disclosed that Okraku is not in Ghana and would visit the club when he returns from abroad.
“We have engaged him on the phone, and we would not want to go into the details of the conversation. Since the incident happened, most people have not seen Kurt publicly. He is unwell and currently not in the country.
“When I meet Nana, I can tell him more about it. He would have been here if there was nothing wrong. When he recovers, he will be here to engage the Kotoko family and everyone,” he stated.
In reaction to the comment, some social media users accused the GFA Exco member of lying about Okraku’s health status to shield him from blame.
Others described him as a hypocrite who is allowing the GFA to use him to redeem their image in light of the vehement criticisms.
Some called on Okraku to address the nation personally instead of using GFA officials to take key decisions while football in the country is in crisis.
Unless Kurt Okraku is sick and admitted at the hospital, there is no reasonable explanation as to why he hasn’t said anything about the unfortunate incident that happened in the Nsoatreman-Kotoko game

You Had Power to Appoint NPP Faithfuls But Chose To Wait Until Last Minute- Atick to NPP Leaders
News Hub Creator3h
NPP organiser Atick Yakubu has expressed disappointment over the timing of job appointments made by the leadership of the New Patriotic Party, especially party-affiliated Chief Executive Officers and institutional heads before the 2024 elections.
In a statement, Atick Yakubu lamented that these officials had the authority to employ qualified party members and deserving Ghanaians long before the elections but failed to act in a timely manner. He argued that this delay has given political opponents an opportunity to justify the termination of such appointments by the new administration.
“It is disappointing that some NPP-appointed CEOs and heads of institutions had the power to offer jobs to qualified party faithful and deserving Ghanaians long before the elections but chose to wait until the very last minute.” He wrote.
Yakubu emphasized that leadership should be about securing the future of supporters rather than making last-minute decisions that risk being overturned. His comments come amid growing controversy over reports that the new government is revoking public sector appointments made after December 7, 2024.
His remarks adds to the ongoing debate about fairness, governance, and job security in the public sector.

Telecel Ghana has been recognised for its exceptional commitment to customer service, earning the Customer Service Leader in the telecommunication sector in the 7th Ghana Customer Service Index.
Scoring the highest with 75 percent ahead of other telcos, the prestigious accolade demonstrates Telecel Ghana’s dedication to providing superior customer experience in the telco sector, almost a year after its rebranding efforts. The recognition reflects the telco’s consistent efforts to prioritise customer needs and deliver efficient service.
“This recognition reflects our longstanding commitment to exceeding our customers’ expectations at every touchpoint. Addressing our customers’ needs is always our top priority, and we will continue to innovate and adapt to provide efficient, and inclusive customer service for all,” Patricia Obo-Nai, CEO of Telecel Ghana, said.
The Ghana Customer Service Index, a survey conducted by the Institute of Customer Service Professionals, is a national indicator of customer evaluations for the quality of goods or services patronised by both Ghanaians and non-Ghanaians living in Ghana.
Commenting on the recognition, Mercy Dawn Akude, General Manager of Commercial Operations said, “At Telecel Ghana, we believe that our customers are at the heart of everything we do and that drives us to continuously improve how we serve them, be it in-person or through our self-help channels. The Ghana Customer Service Index uses ten parameters in its survey of organisations across eleven sectors – trust, competence, professionalism, look and feel, customer centric innovation, staff engagement, processes and procedures, health and safety and ease of doing business.
Telecel Ghana made significant strides in enhancing its customer service experience, achieving a 32 percent increase in the number of calls answered at their Call Centre last year. This rose further in January 2025, with a remarkable 68 percent rise in call responses.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has officially declared former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta a suspect in four high-profile corruption investigations, including cases related to the National Cathedral project, Strategic Mobilization Limited (SML), and two other cases.
Speaking at a press briefing on Wednesday, February 12, Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng stated that Ofori-Atta is now a wanted person and must return to Ghana immediately to face questioning.
He warned that failure to comply would result in steps being taken to compel his return.
Dismissing claims that Ofori-Atta had left the country for medical treatment, Agyebeng insisted that the former minister must cooperate with the ongoing investigations.
He also refuted reports suggesting that officials from the OSP had raided Ofori-Atta’s residence on Tuesday, February 11.
Instead, Agyebeng alleged that the raid was staged by the former minister himself in an attempt to mislead the public and discredit the OSP’s investigations.
The OSP’s latest move marks a significant development in the fight against corruption, as the office intensifies efforts to hold public officials accountable for alleged financial misconduct.
Hiplife legend Reggie Rockstone has expressed frustration with the public’s criticism of the music industry for not helping fellow musician, Okomfour Kwadee in his current struggles.
In a recent Instagram post, Rockstone pushed back against those who have been blaming music organisations like Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) and GHAMRO for neglecting Kwadee, who has faced personal and health challenges in recent years.
According to Rockstone, the responsibility to help Kwadee lies not just with the music industry but with the public who enjoy his music. He questioned what the individuals pointing fingers were doing to assist the artist.
“I’ve seen some talk on Twitter, and it feels like the public seems to be pointing their finger at the music industry, saying that the industry has to do something for him. Everybody is pointing the finger. But what are you doing besides pointing the finger and talking?” Rockstone said, expressing his irritation.
He emphasised that Kwadee’s situation is a human issue that requires compassion, not just a responsibility placed on the music industry. He also highlighted his efforts to help others and urged Ghanaians to offer support in meaningful ways, whether through prayers, financial help, or other forms of love.
“For years and years, this man made beautiful music for you. If anybody should be as emotional as y’all are acting, it should be you,” he added.
Rockstone revealed that Kwadee’s situation is more complex than the public may realise, and efforts to support him are ongoing. Kwadee, known for hits like “Abrantie” and “Ofie Nipa,” has been in and out of rehabilitation centres and is currently staying with his family in the Upper East Region.

The electoral college formed to elect a Council of State member for the Western Region rejected the preferred person of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in yesterday’s exercise.
Prior to the Council of State election yesterday, the Western Regional Chairman of the NDC, Nana Toku declared on radio that the NDC had a preferred candidate and mentioned his name as Akwasi Nsiah-Awuah, a hotelier.
The NDC Regional Chairman told listeners that the party has endorsed Akwasi Nsiah-Awuah and was convinced that the hotelier would emerged victorious after the polls.
“He has been supporting the NDC in diverse ways including giving his hotel rooms to national NDC officers who visit the region to sleep in for free.
“And so we believe he is the right person to represent the region as the Council of State member,” he added.
However, at the end of the election yesterday, 32-year-old business man based in Tarkwa, Dr. Maxwell Boakye was elected as Council of State member for the Western Region.
The election, supervised by the Electoral Commission, saw the businessman polling 17 out of the 28 total votes cast.
The NDC’s preferred candidate had 10 votes while one other contender, Clement Adjei had one vote.
The 28-member electoral college comprised two delegates from each of the Western Region’s 14 districts.
In all, nine candidates, including two women contested for the position.
The Council of State in Ghana is a body of prominent citizens which advises the President on national issues. It was established by the 1992 Constitution of Ghana.
The National Organiser of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Henry Nana Boakye (Nana B), has promised to take on President John Mahama over the directive to terminate appointments of Public Service workers employed after December 7, 2024.
He described President Mahama’s directive as an attempt to unlawfully terminate the appointments of Ghanaian youth who have legally secured jobs.
Legal practitioner and JoyNews’ Newsfile host, Samson Lardy Anyenini, has expressed his dissatisfaction with the performance of the Council of State, stating that it has contributed very little to the country’s development.
He argued that based on his understanding of the work of the Council, it has not achieved any significant accomplishments. “The last time I checked, history reveals that they have failed woefully; they have been very abysmal,” he remarked.
Speaking on Joy FM’s Super Morning Showon Wednesday, February 12, Samson Anyenini explained that he has long reflected on the performance of the Council and has not been enthused at all, however, he said he has been urged to remain restrained in his opinions about them.
He contended that over the years, the Council has devolved into a “wasteful, needless, and useless” body.
He further argued that those elected to represent the regions on the Council should possess substantial experience and education, however, this has not been the case, alleging examples of all manner of people finding their way onto the Council.
Mr Anyenini insisted that only well-educated and experienced individuals should be members of the Council, and called for the 11 members who would be appointed by the president to be chosen without political influence.

Beyond their fame in showbiz, glitz, glamour, and unforgettable ‘red carpet slays’, they have taken on roles as journalists in political discourse, offering insightful analysis and shaping conversations on the political stage.
While the lines between “entertainment” and “news” have become increasingly blurred, the pathways for these entertainers have opened in recent times, allowing these individuals who first rose to fame through pageants like Miss Malaika and Ghana’s Most Beautiful to now embrace new roles in political journalism.
Although some still host prominent lifestyle and entertainment shows like the Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMAs) while others continue their acting careers, these individuals have firmly established themselves in both politics and entertainment.
With that said, let’s take a closer look at some of these beauty queens and actresses who are excelling as political journalists.

Businessman Alhaji Seidu Agongo has disclosed that he spent two days in custody at the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) over allegations of selling adulterated fertilizers to the Ghana Cocoa Board (COCOBOD).
His revelation follows the withdrawal of all charges against him and former COCOBOD CEO, Dr. Stephen Opuni, by the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice, Dr. Dominic Akuritinga Ayine, on January 28.
During court proceedings, State Attorney Enam Loh Mensah informed the court that the Attorney-General had directed the discontinuation of the case, leading to the filing of a formal notice of withdrawal.
A total of 27 charges were brought against Dr. Opuni and Seidu Agongo, including defrauding by false pretences, willfully causing financial loss to the state, money laundering, and corruption by a public officer.
The trial, which began in 2018, centred on allegations that they procured substandard fertilizers for COCOBOD, reportedly causing financial losses to the state.
“I was arrested, detained, and spent about two days in EOCO cells. I was told they were looking for me, so I went to report myself. They said I had sold adulterated fertilizers to COCOBOD,” Seidu Agongo recounted his ordeal.
He accused EOCO of using intimidation tactics to extract a confession from him.
“They wanted to detain me to create fear and panic in me. That was my first time sleeping in a cell,” he said.
He spoke in an interview on Channel One TV’s Face to Face with Umaru Sanda Amadu.

Serena Williams, as part of Kendrick Lamar’s performance, did the crip-walk dance to entertain the fans.
The decision by Serena Williams to pull off the dance has generated controversy due to multiple reasons.
The tennis icon has been chastised for performing the dance move that is traditionally associated with gang culture.
Others also hold that her appearance on the show was to get back at Drake, who is her ex, as the song being performed by Kendrick Lamar at the time was a diss of Drake.
Serena Williams took to her social media pages on Tuesday, February 11, 2025, to explain the inspiration behind the dance move.
“When @kendricklamar and team called and were like ‘we’ve been trying to do something forever, what about this? We loved your crip walk at the Olympics after you won the gold medal’.”
“When in the world would I ever be able to dance at a Super Bowl? (Never) let’s do it. The best 15 seconds of my life!” she shared on social media.
