Sean Combs, popularly known as P. Diddy or Puff Daddy
New allegations against Sean “Diddy” Combs have surfaced, with a man accusing the imprisoned rapper of drugging and raping him in a New York nightclub in 2012.
According to a court filing, the man who was 17 at the time, paid a bouncer to enter the club and was invited to Combs’ private table, where he was given multiple shots of vodka.
The plaintiff claims that after consuming the drinks, he “began to become hazy and disoriented” and felt himself “losing consciousness and control of his body”.
Combs has consistently denied the allegations made against him in a number of civil lawsuits, and has previously labelled them “sickening”. The BBC has sought a response from his team on the new allegations.
Referred to in court documents as John Doe, the plaintiff alleges he was led to a back room at the SoHo club where people were using drugs and engaging with escorts.
He said he realised the drinks he was given were spiked and “impacting his faculties”.
In his statement, the plaintiff says he came in and out of consciousness and while he was aware of what was happening, he could not stop it.
The statement alleges the “defenceless” plaintiff was raped by Combs in the back room of the nightclub.
In a statement to the BBC in response to separate federal criminal charges, Combs’ lawyer said: “In court, the truth will prevail: that Mr Combs never sexually assaulted or trafficked anyone – man or woman, adult or minor.”
The new allegations come as another rapper, Kanye West, urged President Donald Trump to grant a pardon to Combs before his upcoming trial.
The 24-time Grammy winner voiced his support on X, posting a direct plea to Trump: “FREE PUFF,” West wrote, followed by another post tagging the president: “@realDonaldTrump PLEASE FREE MY BROTHER PUFF.”
In early February, a lawyer representing accusers said there were plans to file more than 10 additional civil suits against Combs.
Combs is currently facing more than 30 civil lawsuits alleging sexual assault and misconduct.
He has been held in a New York jail awaiting a federal criminal trial on sex trafficking and racketeering.

The resurgence of erratic power cuts across parts of the country has ignited widespread debate on social media, particularly on X and Facebook.
Ghanaians remain divided over which administration, the former New Patriotic Party-led government or the current administration under President John Dramani Mahama—should be held accountable for the recurring blackouts, commonly referred to as dumsor.
While some critics attribute the situation to the current government, others argue that the previous administration is to blame.
Those holding the ruling government responsible contend that since the ongoing power cuts are occurring under its tenure, it must be accountable for resolving the crisis.
They argue that, upon assuming office, the government took full responsibility for national affairs, including power supply. Furthermore, they recall the president’s earlier assertion that his administration had averted a looming power crisis, contradicting the current reality.
Conversely, those blaming the former government assert that the current administration has been in power for only a few months and, therefore, cannot be solely responsible for the crisis.
They argue that the previous government had ample time to address the power challenges but failed, ultimately passing the burden onto the new administration.
Additionally, they claim that, anticipating electoral defeat in 2024, the former government deliberately left the power crisis unresolved, potentially setting up the new administration to take the blame from the public.
Meanwhile, concerned citizens have called on the government to resolve and address the dumsor issues to avert any impending crisis.
Read some of the posts below:
You all watched Nana Addo and his cronies destroy the country and your party for 8 solid years but stupidly expecting JM to solve same problems within a month. As for the Dumsor if you know you can’t cope, migrate to the nearest country until JM gets it solved as he promised.
Honestly it’ll be praising NPP to think “they knew will lose” so they sabotaged JM to make sure Dumsor will happen.
Be realistic. Dumsor was a problem solved by 2016-2017. It took extreme incompetence and waste by the NPP over years to return to this power debt and dumsor.
Alright, the lights are back. When the lights go off again, I will be here to step on necks! If you claim to have averted the looming threat of Dumsor, let it reflect in our homes. Otherwise, all be chochochocho
We were sitting out somewhere when the President came to tell us that they had averted the looming threat of Dumsor. Nobody forced President Mahama to say that, so if we are still experiencing duuuuuuuuuuuuuuuummmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm-sor, he should come and explain to us how he…
Most at times, NDC tries to find solutions to Ghana’s problems. NPP pretends there’s no problem and utilizes the little resources to make Ghanaians smile today while forever doom awaits tomorrow.
This is a scenario of how both parties handle the DUMSOR menace differently.
I can’t believe the past gov’t who used #Dumsor to win an election couldn’t solve it for 8 years. How? The same people are here doing propaganda with it.
Any wise person won’t take them seriously cos you’ve been in power for 8 years and you couldn’t solve it.
There’s no doubt that the previous administration’s mismanagement of the power sector is responsible for the ongoing dumsor. I’ve documented many instances of that mismanagement on my timeline.
But as a consumer, all you want is reliable electricity—and if that’s not possible,…

A 36-year-old man, Imoro Hafis, has been confirmed dead following an alleged brutality by some military personnel in the West Mamprusi Municipality of the North East Region.
The deceased was said to have been part of residents who were allegedly brutalised by military personnel around Kukua and Loagri in the municipality.
A brother of the deceased, Imoro Issahaku, who confirmed the incident to DAILY GUIDE, indicated, “He called and said he had seen military personnel on the Loagri road and so we shouldn’t come towards that area. So, after about an hour, we called his phone several times, but he couldn’t pick up.”
“We later received a call from the Walewale Hospital that he was admitted there, and that he was among some residents who were beaten by the military personnel. So we rushed to the hospital, but we were told he was pronounced dead.”
He called on the Interior Minister, Mohammed-Mubarak Muntaka and the police to ensure that the military personnel who engaged in the act are arrested and prosecuted.
“Some family members still do not believe he is dead. All we want is justice for our brother. The police and the Interior Minister should make sure that the perpetrators are arrested,” Issahaku said.
Mr. Issahaku, however, revealed that the body of the deceased has been transported to the Tamale Teaching Hospital for autopsy and preservation.
Mass Beating
Residents in Walewale and its environs have allegedly been beaten by military personnel in recent times over the burning of some vehicles in the area.
The recent alleged military brutality is the third time, and has resulted in many residents being admitted at the Walewale Hospital after sustaining various degrees of injuries.
This particular alleged military brutality happened after some unknown gunmen burnt a bus on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, and the military personnel allegedly accused local residents of being in bed with the perpetrators, resulting in the assault on residents.
Kingmakers of the Prampram Traditional Area in the Greater Accra Region have petitioned President John Dramani Mahama, urging him to address what they describe as grave injustices in the chieftaincy affairs of the town.
The petition, signed by the Paramount Stoolfather, Numo Osabu Abbey IV, challenges the legitimacy of Nene Tetteh Wakah as the Paramount Chief of Prampram.
The kingmakers allege that his gazetting by the National House of Chiefs was marred by illegalities, orchestrated by influential figures including the President of the National House of Chiefs, Nana Ogyeahoho Yaw Gyebi II, the Greater Accra Regional House of Chiefs President, King Odaifio Welentsi, and the late former Council of State member, Hon. E.T. Mensah.
According to the petitioners, the recognition of Nene Tetteh Wakah has brought untold suffering to the people of Prampram, who had placed their faith in the nation’s justice and security systems. They insist that the process leading to his gazetting was flawed, particularly as a CD Form (a document questioning his eligibility) had been issued against him, indicating that he was neither a royal nor an heir apparent to the Prampram stool.
Call for Investigation into Unresolved Murders
The petition also highlights a series of unresolved murders linked to the chieftaincy dispute, including the killings of former Prampram Mankralo, Nene Atsure Benta and elders such as Nene Dapoh and Nene Otuseikro IV between 2018 and 2020.
The kingmakers are calling on President Mahama to direct the Attorney General to reopen these cases and ensure that Nene Tetteh Wakah and eight others, currently standing trial at an Accra High Court, face justice.
They allege that the previous administration, under President Nana Akufo-Addo, failed to pursue the case due to Nene Tetteh Wakah’s alleged connections with influential figures within the Attorney General’s office and the then-government.
They are now appealing to the new Attorney General, Dr. Dominic Ayine, to take swift action to deliver justice to the people of Prampram.
Appeal to Restore Justice and Stability
The kingmakers believe that resolving the Prampram chieftaincy dispute should be a priority in President Mahama’s efforts to restore public trust and justice in Ghana. They stress that the ongoing crisis has led to multiple fatalities and widespread disenfranchisement, and they urge the President to take decisive steps to rectify the situation.
The people of Prampram, they say, have endured years of turmoil, and they are hopeful that this administration will finally bring closure to the long-standing chieftaincy impasse.
The historic CAF Licence D Coaching course for female inmates at the Nsawam Female Prison has come to an emotional end.
The 8-Day training course saw 30 participants made up of 25 inmates and 5 prison officers undergo various course models both in theory and practical exercises on the football field.
All the participants received both their CAF accredited Licence D Coaching and CPR & First AID certificates at the end of the program after passing the assessment test.
The CAF Football for Reform program aims to provide female inmates with CAF-accredited coaching qualifications, improving their job prospects and supporting their reintegration into society after their release from Prison. This initiative highlights the transformative potential of football as a tool for rehabilitation and positive change.
The emotional point came when an inmate, a representative of the course participants, thanked God, CAF, GFA and the Prison authorities for making the program possible. “I’m very happy today and not shy I’m in prison because today I am a coach, she added while crying and this got most of her fellow inmates to also shed some tears.
The Deputy Director of Prisons and the Officer-in-Charge of Nsawam Female Prison, Mrs. Victoria Adzewodah commended the participants for their enthusiasm, perseverance, and dedication throughout the course.
“Let this experience be a stepping-stone toward new opportunities and a reminder that transformation is within your reach”, she intimated.
The Technical Director of the GFA, Prof. Joseph Mintah admonished the inmates to put what they have learnt into practice and on behalf of CAF thanked the prison facility for accepting roll out the program.
Bringing the program to a close, the General Secretary of the GFA, Mr. Prosper Harrison-Addo quoted Mahatma Ghandi’s popular saying that “the true measure of any society can be found in how it treats its most vulnerable members.” to reemphasize the humanitarian gesture of CAF and the GFA Foundation. He assured them that the GFA Foundation will donate some football items and logistics so they can practice what they have learnt during this Licence D Coaching program. “We will facilitate the attachment of the participants (inmates) to football teams and also liaise with our sister football federations do the same when they are discharged from prison”, he indicated.
About half of the inmates were nationals from other countries such as Nigeria, South Africa and Kenya. The GFA and Ghana is the second Football Association and country to host this landmark reformation program after the first one was held in the Women’s Correctional Centre in Freetown, Sierra Leone.
CAF Women Football through this program seeks to empower female inmates through football coaching education, providing them with valuable skills for future employment and offer social rehabilitation opportunities through sport, aiding reintegration into society. Promote gender equality by increasing the representation of women in football such as coaches, clubs officials and leaders and finally expand CAF’s community engagement initiatives.
The GFA, with the support of its beverage partner, Multi-Pac Company Ltd donated 20 packs of bottled water and 5 Star Energy drink to refresh the course participants.
The Division One League match between Elmina Sharks and Swedru All Blacks ended in chaos as some Sharks players and officials were seen attacking the referee after the final whistle.
The heated encounter, which took place at the Nduom Sports Complex, saw Swedru All Blacks clinch a narrow 1-0 victory, a result that appeared to frustrate the home side.
After the game, tempers flared, leading to an altercation involving a few Sharks players and officials confronting the match referee. The home side appeared to be unhappy about a penalty call that decided the game.
Videos circulating on social media show match officials being escorted off the pitch under heavy security as tensions escalated.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) and relevant authorities are expected to review the incident and could take disciplinary action against individuals involved.
Meanwhile, Elmina Sharks owner Paa Kwesi Ndoum has descended on the Ghana Football Association, demanding stronger commitment to making the league safer and more entertaining.
“Don’t take a clip and say shouldn’t someone take responsibility. It is the GFA. They take responsibility. They must make everybody safe. They must make the games entertaining, they must pay the refs appropriately and pay everybody well, not just take FIFA money and go and rest somewhere,” he stated.
Elmina Sharks vs Swedru All Blacks ended with a melee where a few of Sharks players and officials were seen attacking the referee after the game. All Blacks won the game 1-0 at the Nduom Sports Complex.
My husband and I have been married for five years, and we have always enjoyed peace in our home.
People often say the first year of marriage can be tough, but I can honestly say that we didn’t experience any of that.
Two years after we got married, we decided to start trying for kids, and I gave birth to a beautiful baby girl.
The experience was difficult. The pregnancy, the labour, the delivery, and the postpartum recovery, I was in the trenches throughout.
A year later, my husband suggested we try for another child. I told him there was no way I was going through that again, especially since I almost died during the last pregnancy.
He said he understood, and we both agreed that, if we ever felt strongly about having more children, we would consider adoption.
Then, last year, my husband, his mother, and a pregnant woman showed up at our home. My mother-in-law told me that since I had decided not to have any more children, my husband needed to try for a son and was expecting one with the woman.
I was devastated. I couldn’t bring myself to forgive him, even though he pleaded with me.
I focused my energy on my work and my daughter, moving into the empty wing of the house with her.
I was deeply depressed but couldn’t bring myself to leave the house entirely because we bought it together, and my mother advised me not to move out before deciding whether I wanted a legal divorce, as I didn’t want to lose my share of the investment.
So, my daughter and I stayed on our side and continued our lives, separate from the new woman.
He took over the school runs and most extracurricular activities to stay close to her, which I had no issue with since I couldn’t bear to be in the same room with him for long.
Unfortunately, the new mother passed away during childbirth, leaving behind the newborn. Coincidentally, this happened during the same week I filed for divorce.
Subsequently, the deceased’s family has refused to take in the baby, just as my soon-to-be ex-mother-in-law.
Now, they’ve come to ask me to take in the baby and raise him.
I firmly said no, I’m not raising that child because it’s not mine.
My husband is struggling as the primary caregiver and working.
He looks exhausted all the time and keeps changing nannies. He continues to beg me to reconsider the divorce, but if I’m being honest with myself, I don’t think I can ever love that child wholeheartedly.
I’m feeling depressed and don’t even know why. I feel tired of everything. It seems like nobody loves me, not even my own family. Extended family members on both sides have been calling me, begging, and subtly implying that I’m being too harsh, especially since there’s no longer a co-wife in the picture.
I’m just waiting for the legal divorce to go through so that I can sell my share of the house and leave the country with my daughter. I’m deeply hurt, and I’m unsure if I’m making the right decision. I need help and advice.

Rev. Isaac Owusu-Bempah, the founder and leader of the Glorious Word Power Ministries International, has expressed regret over his past criticisms of President John Dramani Mahama.
According to him, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, influenced him to dislike the then opposition leader Mahama.
However, he has now realized that Mahama’s good heart contradicts the negative image painted by Wontumi.
Speaking to his congregation on Sunday, February 16, 2025, Rev. Owusu-Bempah admitted his regret, stating, “I am pained because, in the past, I didn’t know him well, and we engaged in unnecessary conflicts. When I think about it now, I regret speaking against such a good man.”
He continued, “Chairman Wontumi was among those who made me dislike President Mahama.
He said a lot of negative things about him, which led me to form a wrong opinion. But now I see that Mahama is a good man, not because of politics, but because of his kind heart.”
Rev. Owusu Bempah also admitted that he and others wrongly opposed Mahama in the past.
“I didn’t know back then that he was such a good man. We spoke against him unjustly. Chairman Wontumi lied to me about him, and I believed those lies, which made me hate Mahama at the time.
“…Mahama should be allowed to continue as president even after his four-year term. When he is ready to step down, he should appoint someone else to continue his good work.”
The International Finance Corporation (IFC) remains optimistic about Ghana’s economic prospects, reaffirming its commitment to supporting private-sector growth despite recent macroeconomic challenges.
Dahlia Khalifa, IFC’s Regional Director for Central Africa and Anglophone West Africa, highlighted Ghana’s resilience and economic potential in an interview with B&FT following her working visit to the country last week.
She emphasised that IFC’s impact is measured by job creation and economic transformation rather than just investment volumes.
“Our focus is not just on how much we invest but on the lives and livelihoods impacted,” Ms. Khalifa stated, noting IFC’s long-term commitment to Ghana.
Over the past decade, IFC has injected more than US$2billion into the Ghanaian economy, with US$450million disbursed in the last year alone – a figure expected to rise in 2024.
Khalifa noted that the IFC is channeling its investments into sectors with high employment potential including agribusiness, light manufacturing and renewable energy, adding that Ghana’s fundamentals remain strong despite economic turbulence, positioning the country for sustained growth.
She pointed to IFC’s growing focus on value chain development, particularly in agriculture where Ghana has the potential to reduce imports and enhance local production. “IFC is exploring opportunities in the rice, tomatoes, fisheries and animal feed industries to strengthen domestic supply chains.”
“Ghana should not be importing certain products when it has the resources to produce them locally. IFC is actively supporting businesses that enhance domestic value addition,” the Regional Director stated.
Investments in renewable energy
One of IFC’s most significant recent projects is its US$21million investment in Ghana’s largest private-sector-led solar initiative in partnership with LMI Holdings. The financing is part of a US$100million facility designed to scale-up rooftop solar capacity in industrial zones.
Ms. Khalifa highlighted the success of LMI’s solar deployment, which currently stands at 16.8 megawatts – making it Africa’s largest rooftop solar installation and the third-largest globally, just behind Tesla and Apple. She noted that the facility is set to expand to 200 megawatts, further strengthening Ghana’s renewable energy infrastructure.
“This is a project that Ghanaians should be proud of. LMI’s vision is transformative, creating an ecosystem that enables economic growth,” she said.
Boosting manufacturing and SME financing
Beyond energy, IFC is expanding its footprint in Ghana’s manufacturing sector, particularly in garments and textiles. One standout beneficiary is DTRT (Do the Right Thing), a major apparel manufacturer employing over 7,000 people.
Ms. Khalifa described the company as an example of how strategic investments can scale up industries and create employment at scale.
“Behind each of these 7,000 jobs is a household benefitting from stable income. IFC sees immense potential for Ghana to become a regional hub for garment production,” she noted.
IFC is also deepening its support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) by working with local banks to expand financing. Recent agreements include a US$20million facility with Access Bank to support SMEs, with a specific focus on women-led businesses.
Additionally, IFC is leveraging private equity and venture capital to fund high-growth startups. The institution currently has direct investments in Ghana-based Oasis Capital and 4DX Ventures, both of which provide financing to early-stage businesses in sectors such as fintech and logistics.
Reflecting on her visit, the Regional Director described Ghana as being at an “inflection point” for economic growth – citing both private-sector momentum and government efforts to improve the business climate.
“There is a unanimous sense that Ghana is on an upward trajectory. The private sector is expanding, and government is committed to enabling that growth,” she observed.

In a landmark move aimed at addressing the complexities of migration, the German Development Cooperation and the International Organisation for Migration (IOM) Ghana have solidified their partnership with the signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU).
This collaboration marks a concerted effort to improve migration governance, support sustainable development, and create safer, more dignified migration pathways for individuals and communities across Ghana.
The partnership will focus on several critical areas, including capacity building for government institutions and stakeholders, policy development, migrant assistance and reintegration, and the promotion of regular migration pathways. Additionally, the collaboration will seek to enhance diaspora engagement strategies, recognizing the vital role of Ghana’s global community in national development.
This agreement builds on years of successful joint initiatives between German Cooperation and IOM Ghana. Previous efforts have included the reintegration of returned migrants, support for Ghana’s National Implementation Plan (NIP) under the Global Compact for Migration (GCM), and local-level migrant support programs, particularly in the Accra municipality. The partnership also extends to the EU-funded ATUU project, which promotes regular migration pathways and economic opportunities.
At the signing ceremony, Wilhelm Hugo, Coordinator of the Sustainable Economic Development Cluster at GIZ Ghana, emphasized the human dimension of migration. “Migration is an integral part of the human experience, but it must be safe, dignified, and beneficial for both individuals and communities,” he said. “This partnership with IOM Ghana is a crucial step toward creating opportunities that empower migrants while fostering sustainable development.”
The collaboration will see GIZ and IOM working hand-in-hand to strengthen the capacity of government agencies and stakeholders to address migration-related challenges. Key initiatives will include the implementation of policies that facilitate migrant assistance and economic reintegration, as well as the creation of stronger labor migration opportunities and regular pathways.
Ms. Fatou Ndiaye, Chief of Mission of IOM Ghana, underscored the significance of the partnership. “This MoU represents a major milestone in our shared commitment to sustainable reintegration and development in migration-affected communities,” she said. “By addressing socio-economic vulnerabilities and involving communities in finding solutions, we can create meaningful alternatives to irregular migration. We deeply appreciate the support of German Cooperation through GIZ Ghana and look forward to the transformative impact of this collaboration.”
The formalization of this MoU reaffirms the long-standing commitment of both organizations to delivering impactful development interventions in Ghana. By supporting sustainable migration frameworks, the partnership aims to empower individuals and communities, ensuring that migration becomes a force for positive change rather than a source of vulnerability.
As migration continues to shape global and local landscapes, this collaboration between German Cooperation and IOM Ghana sets a promising precedent for addressing the challenges and opportunities it presents. With a focus on safety, dignity, and sustainability, the partnership is poised to make a lasting difference in the lives of migrants and their communities.

The Ministry of Roads and Highways has attributed delays in completing the Ofankor-Nsawam road project to ongoing court cases that have stalled construction efforts.
Originally scheduled for completion in July 2024, the project now faces indefinite postponement due to unresolved legal disputes that have significantly hindered progress.
Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show on Monday, the Ministry’s Public Relations Officer, Nasir Ahmad Yartey, explained that legal constraints have slowed the contractor’s work, preventing progress on key aspects of construction until the court cases are resolved.
He further highlighted that many of the disputes involve property owners challenging demolitions or seeking compensation, which has prolonged the legal impasse and stalled the project.
“The major challenge on that road [Ofankor-Nsawam] has to do with court issues. Somewhere last year, we had over 100 court cases that had to do with the project and we have been able to clear about 20 of them and as I speak to you, between Amasaman and Nsawam, there are about 80 of them and these court cases does not allow the contractor the right of way to work.
“We cannot take the law into our own hands if we need to demolish a particular property and the owner is litigating it in court, there is little you can do.”
The $350 million Ofankor-Nsawam road project is a crucial infrastructure development aimed at improving transportation along the Accra-Kumasi highway, one of the busiest road networks in Ghana.
The expansion and rehabilitation of the road are expected to ease traffic congestion, enhance trade and commerce, and provide safer and more efficient transportation for commuters.
Several residents and commuters who rely on the road daily have expressed their frustration over the delays, citing the worsening traffic situation and the associated economic and social inconveniences.
Many have called on the government to expedite the resolution of the court cases to allow construction to resume fully.

Mr Youssouf, who has been Minister of Foreign Affairs of Djibouti since 2005, is the longest-serving foreign minister on the African continent.
The Summit also elected Madam Selma Haddadi of Algeria, as the new African Union Commission Deputy Chairperson.
All 55 AU Member States, with the exception of six countries that were suspended from membership, are taking part in the Summit.
Kenyan President William Ruto in a message on X, said while the outcome of the election did not favour Mr Raila Odinga, Kenya’s candidate, he conveyed his deepest gratitude to the entire leadership of the great African continent.
“Thank you for considering the Right Honourable Raila Odinga’s vision and priorities for the African Union and for according him the opportunity to share his passion for the continent’s transformation”, he said.
President Ruto further congratulated Mr Youssouf and Madam Haddadi, the Chairperson and Deputy Chairperson of the Africa Union Commission.
“You have the trust of the AU Assembly, and Kenya pledges her full support to you as you steer the Africa Union Commission to the next level,” President Ruto said.
The Greater Accra Regional Director of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Alexander Nketiah, has called on wine importers to consider investing in the growing of grapes in Ghana to encourage wine production in Ghana.
He believes the establishment of a wine industry in Ghana to reduce dependence on imports and unlock economic opportunities.
“My wish is that we produce wine here in Ghana. My prayer is that as importers bring in these wines, we also explore ways to start growing our own grapes, fermenting them, and making our own wines right here,” he said.
Nketiah pointed out that grapes can be grown in Ghana, particularly in cooler, mountainous areas like Aburi, Amedzofe, and Abetifi.
He cited research that has confirmed the feasibility of grape farming in these regions.
“We can grow grapes here. In places like Aburi, Amedzofe, and Abetifi, where the weather is cooler, research has shown that grape cultivation is possible. If we focus on this, we can establish a wine industry that will not only reduce imports but also benefit our tourism sector,” he noted during the launch of Martin B Wines at this year’s Valentine’s Day celebrations on February 14, 2025.
Nketiah also emphasized the economic potential of a local wine industry.
A fully developed wine value chain from grape cultivation to wine production, bottling, marketing, and distribution would create employment opportunities for many young people.
“If we invest in grape farming and wine production, we can generate jobs, improve agribusiness, and develop a strong industry that supports both agriculture and tourism,” he added.
Mavies Boakye, CEO of MB Ventures, shared the vision of local wine production in Ghana.
“Ghana has vast arable lands, and we are looking forward to taking advantage of this to start producing wines locally. This will not only create employment but also contribute to the country’s economic growth,” she said.
“Our wines are made from different grape varieties, with a low alcohol percentage, making them suitable for everyone,” she added.
While pushing for Ghana’s wine industry, both Nketiah and Ms. Boakye stressed the importance of responsible drinking.
They urged consumers to drink in moderation and avoid drinking and driving.
In light of the ongoing discussions surrounding Okomfo Kwadee’s mental health struggles, individuals and key showbiz stakeholders have been trying to uncover the true cause of the highlife musician’s plight and searching for potential solutions.
However, veteran Ghanaian music producer Fred Kyei Mensah, also known as Fredyma, believes to a larger extent that Kwadee brought this situation upon himself.
Fredyma partly attributes Kwadee’s deteriorating mental health to his excessive smoking habits.
He recalled an instance where Kwadee’s colleague, the late Terry Bonchaka, even refused to ride in the same car with him due to the overwhelming smoke.
According to Fredyma, this is a clear example of how the musician’s lifestyle may have contributed to his current state.
During a discussion with Power FM, Fredyma stated, “Kwadee smokes weed, and his condition today is as a result of the weed he smokes. In life, everyone needs help, but if you keep helping someone who doesn’t want to be helped, what can you do?”
He continued, “In 2003, Terry Bonchaka told me and Regan backstage that he would never sit in any car with Kwadee again. He said his experience with sharing a car with him was really bad because of the weed. And you know, Terry was also a Jehovah’s Witness. He told me all this backstage in 2003, 23 years ago. I remember vividly, he didn’t like it. He was raised in Santase where his dad was a security guard, and he used to smoke weed there. They know.”
Fredyma, however, pointed out Kwadee’s remarkable feat in the music industry, stating, “Kwadee has a problem, and that problem needs to be solved. He came out in the year 2000, and by God’s grace, he became this great. If someone is not Akan and yet they can sing this beautifully in the Akan language, it’s highly commendable.”
The conversations surrounding Kwadee’s condition have intensified in recent times, particularly after he was captured in an unkempt and deteriorated state.
Although there have been discussions on how to assist him, some stakeholders remain skeptical, as Kwadee has repeatedly relapsed into a bad state after receiving treatment and support.

Managing Director of Ghana Stock Exchange, Abena Amoah
An increase in initial public offerings (IPOs) and a resulting uptick in market activity would provide pension funds with viable investment opportunities amid record asset growth.
With domestic pension assets under management (AUM) projected to reach GH¢100billion by the close of 2025, fund managers are under growing pressure to diversify beyond government securities.
While there has been an IPO drought in recent years, with the only market activity being listings by introduction.
A Listing by Introduction allows a company already listed on one exchange to trade on another without issuing new shares.
It meets the new exchange’s requirements, ensures cross-border settlement and expands its investor base while remaining linked to the primary market. This is contrasted with an IPO, which is considered an entirely new listing.
In a wide-ranging interview with B&FT, Abena Amoah, Managing Director of Ghana Stock Exchange (GSE), hinted at new IPOs this year, a development that if realised would offer respite to the pension funds.
“The money is there. We need more IPOs, more equity raises and more companies using the fixed-income market to create opportunities for long-term investment,” she said.
For the past seven years Ghana’s main stock market has not recorded a single IPO – the longest drought since its inception in 1991.
The last major offering was by MTN Ghana in 2018, which raised US$238.5million but fell short of its target. The prolonged absence of listings has limited the ability of pension funds to reallocate capital to equities, forcing continued reliance on government securities and fixed-income instruments.
A market in need of activity
The National Pensions Regulatory Authority (NPRA) has sought to reduce exposure to government debt, which previously accounted for up to 75 percent of pension assets.
Revised guidelines now allow pension funds to allocate up to 25 percent of their portfolios to alternative investments including equities and private debt. However, fund managers have struggled to find viable private sector opportunities.
Amoah has stressed that Ghanaian businesses must take a more proactive approach to capital markets if pension funds are to diversify effectively.
“We must bring more private sector companies to market,” she said. Citing the 2022 listing of Asante Gold, she noted that companies with strong governance structures and clear growth strategies remain attractive to institutional investors.
Despite regulatory efforts, market participation has remained weak. Over the past decade, only four companies – Mega African Capital Limited, Agricultural Development Bank (ADB), MTN Ghana and Asante Gold – have listed on the main bourse. On the Ghana Alternative Market (GAX), a platform designed for smaller enterprises, only six firms have listed – with limited trading activity.
“The challenge is not a lack of capital. It is the absence of well-governed, transparent businesses coming to the market,” Ms. Amoah said.
State-Owned Enterprises
Initiatives to list state-owned enterprises (SOEs) have also stalled. In September 2022, the-then Public Enterprises Minister Joseph Cudjoe announced that three SOEs – Ghana Reinsurance Company, Tema Development Corporation and GIHOC Distilleries – were set to go public. More than two years later, none of these firms have been listed.
“We have settled on three to start with,” Mr. Cudjoe said at the time.
“They will get to raise capital and expand while making the market more exciting,” he continued. However, delays and shifting timelines have dampened investor expectations.
Market analysts believe listing viable SOEs could help rejuvenate the exchange and provide pension funds with new investment options.
And the GSE MD confirmed that engagements continue – to ensure that the goal of listing viable SOEs comes to fruition.
Risks, returns
Pension funds remain wary of direct investments in private companies, preferring fixed-income instruments due to their lower risk. However, the recent Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP), which affected GH¢31billion in pension holdings, has raised concerns over continued reliance on government securities.
“If companies can show that cheaper capital would turn their business around and they are committed to governance standards, then pension funds will invest,” Ms. Amoah stated.
The GSE is working with institutions such as the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) and Stanford Seed to prepare more businesses for market participation. Financial advisors and investment banks are also expected to play a greater role in structuring deals that meet institutional investor requirements.
“We expect a few more companies to come to market this year, either to refinance expensive debt or fund new projects,” Ms. Amoah noted.

A commercial motorbike rider, commonly known as an Okada rider, has been arrested in Accra’s Ablekuma Central Constituency after he was found in possession of GHS 89 million, suspected to have been stolen from a local businessman. The arrest took place on Sunday during a routine police patrol near Kaneshie Market.
Authorities had been investigating the disappearance of a significant sum from the businessman’s company safe, raising suspicions of an inside job. Chief Inspector Kwame Mensah confirmed that officers had been on high alert since the complaint was lodged earlier in the week. While on patrol, they noticed the suspect carrying two large bags strapped to his motorbike. Upon inspection, officers discovered stacks of Ghana cedi notes, which, when counted, amounted to GHS 89 million.
The suspect, identified as 34-year-old Kofi Mensah, initially denied knowing the contents of the bags, claiming he was merely making a delivery to someone in Kasoa. However, the case took an unexpected turn when his wife, Adjoa Naa, arrived at the police station, insisting that the money belonged to them. She explained that her husband had been saving for years and chose to store the funds privately rather than in a bank.
Her statement only deepened the mystery surrounding the case, as investigators sought to verify the origin of the money. Authorities are working to establish whether the cash was indeed linked to the businessman’s missing funds or if the couple had another source of income.
Meanwhile, the businessman has been contacted to assist with the investigation, and police have assured the public that anyone found guilty will be held accountable. Mensah remains in custody at the Accra Central Police Station as the inquiry continues.
The Chief Executive of the Fair Wages and Salaries Commission (FWSC), Mr Benjamin Arthur, has paid working visits to the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission (GAEC) and the Nuclear Regulatory Authority (NRA) to strengthen collaboration and address concerns regarding conditions of service.
The meetings allowed FWSC to gain insight into the operations of the two institutions and understand the challenges their workforce faces.
Mr Arthur reaffirmed FWSC’s commitment to working with stakeholders to improve salaries and working conditions.
He advised NRA and GAEC to review their schemes of service to properly reflect staff grades and create a fair salary structure.
The Director General of GAEC, Prof. Samuel B. Dampare, highlighted the institution’s contributions to health, agriculture, medicine, industry, and space science.
He noted that GAEC is recognised globally as a leading institution in sustainable nuclear science and technology.
GAEC, he explained, was established with a focus on research, innovation, and technology transfer. Associate Professor Francis Hasford, Director of the Radiological and Medical Sciences Research Institute, provided an overview of GAEC’s 62-year history, emphasising its role in nuclear and allied sciences for national development.
He stated that GAEC operates seven technical institutes and five directorates, supporting key sectors such as food and agriculture, health and safety, and energy and power.
Prof. Hasford pointed out that gamma irradiation helps extend the shelf life of perishable foods, while the Black Soldier Fly Technology creates business opportunities in agriculture and waste management.
The Director for Commercialisation and Communication, Nana Boateng, explained that GAEC was working to protect its research output through intellectual property management, and is focused on transferring technology to the private sector in order to support industrial development.
During the engagement with the NRA, the Director General, Dr Nii Kwashie Allotey, emphasised the authority’s role in regulating nuclear and radioactive sources in Ghana to protect the public, patients, and workers from radiation exposure.
He noted that as Ghana moves towards nuclear power generation, NRA’s role in ensuring safety and security becomes even more critical.
Dr Allotey raised concerns about the high attrition rate at NRA, attributing it to low remuneration.
He explained that in 2022, the authority had 95 staff members, but this number has now dropped to 78.
He stressed that training experts in this field requires significant time and resources, and losing skilled professionals comes at a high cost. He urged for improved conditions of service to retain staff and support Ghana’s nuclear power ambitions.
The Director of the Nuclear Installations Directorate at NRA, Prof. Emmanuel Ampomah-Amoako, outlined the authority’s activities, including developing regulations, reviewing applications, conducting inspections, and ensuring compliance with nuclear safety standards.
He stated that radiation applications are used in various sectors, including agriculture, health, education, construction, telecommunications, archaeology, power, oil and gas, mining, and law enforcement.
He emphasised the importance of NRA in national security, particularly in preventing unauthorised access to radioactive materials and ensuring public safety.
At GAEC, officials showcased technological and scientific innovations, including gamma irradiation and the Black Soldier Fly Technology, which provide benefits in agriculture and waste management.
Ghanaian entertainment pundit Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo
Ghanaian entertainment pundit Arnold Asamoah-Baidoo has expressed disappointment in Apostle Solomon Oduro following his decision to publicly announce his split from his wife, Rev. Charlotte Oduro.
Speaking on United Showbiz on February 15, 2025, Arnold shared his views on the divorce, stating that even if the couple decided to make their split public, they could have issued a joint press statement.
He believes that the statement released by the Apostle was a deliberate move aimed at tarnishing the reputation of his wife.
“There are a lot of public figures who have gone through divorce without our knowledge. I have the strongest conviction that the Apostle had an ulterior motive for putting out that press statement. He had an ill intention. Until this incident, I didn’t even know what Apostle was or what he looked like. So, this was supposed to hurt the woman and make her look bad,” he said.
Arnold further criticised the Apostle’s amended divorce petition, claiming it was strategically worded to damage Rev. Charlotte Oduro’s image.
“If you look at Apostle’s amended petition, you could see it was well-calculated. In the petition, he created an impression that Charlotte Oduro was having an affair with other men. The second thing he said was unreasonable behaviour,” he added.

Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh interacting with a patient
The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, and the Acting Director-General of the Ghana Health Service, Prof. Samuel Kaba Akoriyea, visited parts of the Central Region of Ghana to educate the public on the cholera outbreak.
The minister, along with his entourage, began his awareness campaign on the streets of Winneba, cautioning residents about the dangers of the disease and emphasizing the need for proper sanitation measures to curb the spread.
He then proceeded to the Agona Swedru Municipal Hospital, where he visited four patients who were on admission. He checked up on them and assured them of the government’s commitment to fighting the disease.
During his interaction with the patients, he encouraged them to take advantage of the government’s vaccination exercise to help combat the disease and advised them to maintain proper hygiene.
“How long have you been here? Is there a gutter in front of your house? Don’t worry, you will be fine, okay? …the government has rolled out a vaccination policy, so when it comes, please ensure that you get vaccinated to help fight the disease,” he said to one of the patients in a conversation.
According to him, the government has implemented several measures to combat the outbreak, including a nationwide vaccination exercise.
He added that the vaccination campaign has already commenced in Cape Coast in the Central Region and Ablekuma in the Greater Accra Region, with Swedru expected to start soon.
He further assured the public that the vaccine is safe, stating that he had taken it himself as proof.
“The vaccine is not poisonous, harmful, or dangerous. I have taken mine, so there is no need to fear,” he said at the Winneba Municipal Hospital.
The minister urged citizens to take advantage of the vaccination exercise and adhere to hygienic practices to curb the spread of cholera.
Prof. Samuel Kaba Akoriyea reiterated that sanitation remains a top priority in the fight against the disease.
Dr. Julius Abuku, the Medical Superintendent of the hospital, stated that the facility has recorded 327 suspected cases of cholera.
He added that the municipality has reported 411 suspected cases, with 71 samples taken and 28 confirmed positive.
He further stated that there have been three mortalities since the outbreak began. However, due to implemented measures, no deaths have been recorded in nearly a month.
The minister was accompanied by the World Health Organization (WHO) Country Director, Dr. Frank Lule, Nene Ofei Bosso, the Public Relations Officer of the Ministry, and other officials from the Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service.
The nation’s goal of becoming Africa’s hub for artificial intelligence (AI), machine learning, cyber-security, data analytics and data processing within the next four years is both ambitious and achievable, if the right investments and policy frameworks are implemented, industry experts have said.
Minister of Communications, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, set a medium-term time frame for achieving this when he appeared before the Parliamentary Appointment Committee ahead of his confirmation, where he stated a commitment to reviewing and refining Ghana’s AI strategy.
He later reiterated this stance at the AI Summit in Paris, a high-profile event that convened leaders from over 100 countries to discuss AI’s evolving role in the global economy.
These ambitions come at a time when AI is reshaping industries worldwide. According to PwC, AI could contribute US$15.7trillion to the global economy by 2030, with US$6.6trillion coming from increased productivity and US$9.1trillion from consumption-side effects.
Meanwhile, Africa is projected to see AI-driven economic gains of US$1.2trillion over the same period. Countries such as South Africa and Egypt have already launched national AI strategies, and Nigeria recently announced plans to integrate AI into its economic planning.
However, challenges such as infrastructure deficits, limited digital data and a shortage of skilled professionals remain key obstacles to the nation’s AI aspirations.
Foundational investments required
To position itself as a leading AI hub, deliberate investments in skills development, core IT infrastructure and an enabling regulatory framework must be prioritised, Richard Nunekpeku, Managing Partner of Sustineri Partners PRUC, said.
“First and foremost, we must understand that we cannot compete if we do not encourage new ways of learning and skill development,” he told the B&FT.
“So, while targeted interventions such as the One Million Coders programme are laudable, we must also take steps to review our school curriculum and support our universities to introduce AI-specialised courses targeted at training young people in AI technologies, promoting R&D (research and development) and establishing centres of excellence for localised AI development,” he added.
Mr. Nunekpeku, who doubles as the Vice President of Legal & Strategy for the Ghana Fintech and Payment Association (GFPA), pointed to the United States and China, where sustained investments in AI education have ensured a steady supply of talent, enabling their continued dominance in the sector.
According to Stanford University’s AI Index Report, while China continues to gain ground rapidly in the publication of AI research papers, the U.S. remains the leader in multiple metrics, including AI funding, with AI start-ups securing over US$40billion in venture capital in 2023 alone.
Beyond education, the development of critical IT infrastructure is essential. “Investments in new computing systems, data centres, high-speed Internet, AI training modules, etc., must be coordinated with private sector participation. This will help provide the needed IT infrastructure backbone for global companies seeking to establish and set up in Africa to make Ghana their preferred destination,” Mr. Nunekpeku explained.
The local data centre market, valued at approximately US$230million in 2023, is projected to grow at an annual rate of 12 percent, according to Research and Markets.
Arizton Advisory & Intelligence, in a report titled ‘Africa Data Center Construction Market – Industry Outlook & Forecast 2024-2029’, noted that Ghana’s high solar irradiation and stable political environment make it “favourable for solar-powered data centres, especially in Accra, as local and international investors recognise its potential in the West African digital market”.
However, the country still lags behind in AI-specific computing capacity. Experts say partnerships with global technology firms could accelerate the development of high-performance computing clusters, essential for AI research and deployment.
The third pillar, a clear policy framework, will be decisive in attracting investment. “Policies outlining clear investment benefits, such as tax waivers, breaks and exemptions, enhanced intellectual property protection and data management regimes, etc., could help attract early-stage investments in AI development across the continent,” Mr. Nunekpeku added.
However, he cautioned that Ghana’s regulatory bodies must be strengthened to address risks associated with AI, including data security and ethical concerns.
AI’s practical impact
The case for AI in Ghana extends beyond technological prestige, with Gillian Hammah – Chief Marketing Officer at Aya Data, saying AI can directly address some of the country’s most pressing economic and social challenges, particularly in agriculture, healthcare and education.
“There is a lot AI can do to solve real problems in Ghana. Priority areas should reflect sectors that have a significant impact on our GDP; for instance, with agriculture and our citizens, particularly in healthcare and education,” she stated.
Agriculture, which employs over 30 percent of the country’s workforce and contributes 20 percent of GDP, could benefit significantly from AI-powered precision farming techniques.
“Many farmers complain about high input and labour costs due to inefficiencies and low productivity, irregular weather patterns, [and] inability to quickly and accurately detect pests and diseases. All of these can be dramatically improved using AI-powered precision agriculture solutions,” Mrs. Hammah noted.
A McKinsey report suggests AI-driven precision agriculture can increase crop yields by up to 30 percent while reducing water and pesticide use by 20 percent. Stakeholders are already exploring AI-based weather prediction models to mitigate the impact of climate change on cocoa farming, an industry that generates approximately US$2billion annually in export revenue.
In healthcare, AI has the potential to enhance diagnostics and streamline medical processes. “Doctors spend hours manually documenting symptoms and assigning codes, [and] patients suffer from misdiagnosis or late diagnosis,” Mrs. Hammah observed.
She added that AI can enhance disease prevention, diagnosis and treatment while optimising healthcare efficiency.
AI-powered diagnostics could be particularly impactful as the doctor-to-patient ratio stands at approximately 1:6,500—far below the World Health Organisation’s recommended 1:1,000.
AI-driven screening tools for diseases such as malaria, tuberculosis and stroke could help address the shortage of medical professionals and improve early detection rates.
Education will also be a key area for AI development, with Mrs. Hammah saying: “Ghana needs to incentivise universities and institutions to educate people on AI and have it included in the national curriculum”. She pointed to international examples such as France, which is accelerating AI investment to compete with global leaders.
A 2023 UNESCO report found that only 20 percent of African universities offer AI or data science programs, compared to 80 percent in North America and Europe.
The nation’s ability to scale AI adoption will depend on the expansion of specialised AI training and research institutions.
Execution will determine success
While the nation’s AI ambitions are promising, success will depend on how effectively policies are executed.
The Aya Data CMO cautioned that without structured implementation, these efforts could fall short. “Studies show that 80 percent of AI projects fail, so our success will depend on having a clear, focused strategy and clarity on the problem we seek to solve with AI, clear performance metrics, structured data and expert guidance,” she stated.
Mr. Nunekpeku echoed this sentiment, noting that the government’s commitment will be key. “And I am happy to note that the Honourable Minister for Communications, Digital Technology and Innovations, during his vetting, has made the commitment to pursue the objective of making Ghana Africa’s AI Hub,” he said.
Despite the challenges, the experts agree that with the right execution, the nation’s AI ambitions could serve as a catalyst for broader economic transformation.
“AI is not a strategy…AI is a way to deliver on the most important parts of your strategy. Let us treat AI as it really is – a tool,” Mrs. Hammah said, quoting a Google executive.

Former Ghanaian Minister Cecilia Dapaah Arrested Amid Corruption Scandal and Allegations of Unexplained wealth
News Hub Creator2h
In 2025, Cecilia Dapaah, the former Ghanaian Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, became the subject of a high-profile investigation and arrest by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) due to allegations of corruption, unexplained wealth, and financial discrepancies.
The Trigger for the Investigation
The controversy began in 2023 when reports emerged about a significant theft from Cecilia Dapaah’s residence in Accra. The stolen amounts included $1 million, €300,000, and millions of Ghanaian cedis. Two of her domestic staff were arrested in connection with the theft, which led to further scrutiny of Dapaah’s wealth.
As the investigation unfolded, the OSP uncovered more cash, including $590,000 and GH₵2.73 million, at properties associated with Dapaah. This raised serious questions about the origins of the funds, as Dapaah was unable to offer a satisfactory explanation for her wealth.
The Arrest and Detention in 2025
In January 2025, Cecilia Dapaah was detained by the OSP at Kotoka International Airport in Accra while attempting to board a flight to the United States. Her arrest was triggered by concerns that she might flee the country to avoid the investigation.

At least nine people have died over the weekend, as torrential downpours drenched parts of the south-eastern US, submerging roads and houses.
Kentucky Governor Andy Beshear said eight people had died in his state and suggested at a news conference on Sunday that the total could go up.
Hundreds of people stranded in flood waters, many stuck in their cars, had been rescued, and Beshear warned residents to “stay off the roads right now and stay alive”.
In Georgia, the ninth death was recorded after a man lying in his bed was struck by an uprooted tree that crashed into his home.
Kentucky, Georgia, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee, Virginia, West Virginia and North Carolina were under some type of storm-related alert this weekend. Almost all of those states suffered catastrophic damage in September from Hurricane Helene.
Between the eight states, more than half a million households were without power on Sunday night, according to poweroutage.us.
A bulk of the death and destruction appears to have occurred in Kentucky, where a mother and her seven-year-old child and a 73-year-old man were among the dead.
Some parts of Kentucky received up to 6in (15cm) of rain, National Weather Service (NWS) figures show, resulting in widespread flooding issues.
The rapid influx of rain caused river levels to rise quickly and trapped vehicles in feet of water, images posted online show.
Governor Beshear wrote on X that there were over 300 road closures.
He also said that he had written to the White House requesting an emergency disaster declaration and federal funds for affected areas, according to the BBC’s partner CBS News.
President Donald Trump approved the declaration on Sunday, authorising the Federal Emergency Management Agency (Fema), which he has suggested abolishing, to co-ordinate disaster relief efforts.
Officials have cautioned that the worst of the flooding is not over yet.
“The rivers are still going to rise,” Eric Gibson, director of the Kentucky Division of Emergency Management, said on Sunday.
Bob Oravec, a senior forecaster with the NWS, said: “The effects will continue for a while, a lot of swollen streams and a lot of flooding going on.”
In Obion County, Tennessee, heavy rains there caused a levee to break, “resulting in rapid onset flooding”, a local NWS account said on X.
“If you are in the area, GET TO HIGH GROUND NOW! This is a LIFE THREATENING situation,” the post said.
The town of Rives along the Obion River was deluged from the breached flood barrier.
Footage shows brown water rushing over rocks and past trees, as rescue workers in red boats pass flooded homes.
Steve Carr, the Obion County mayor, declared a state of emergency on Facebook and said there would be mandatory evacuations in Rives because of “the rising water, no electricity, and freezing temperature creating a life-threatening situation”.
Located north-east of Memphis, Rives has a population of roughly 300.
West Virginia Governor Patrick Morrisey issued a state of emergency in 10 counties on Saturday and added another three counties to the list on Sunday.
“Please continue to be cautious,” Morrisey said on X.
Kristi Noem, head of the Department of Homeland Security, which oversees Fema, said she had been in contact with both Governors Beshear and Morrisey, and left voicemails with Governors Bill Lee of Tennessee and Kay Ivey of Alabama.
“While emergency management is best led by local authorities, we reinforced that DHS stands ready to take immediate action to offer resources and support,” Noem said.
Meteorologists have also warned that a polar vortex is making its way early this week towards the northern Rocky Mountains and northern Plains in the middle of the country.
In Colorado, temperatures could drop to as low as 14F (-10C), with the city of Denver reportedly opening shelters for its homeless population this weekend.

Following our painful defeat in the 2024 General Elections, I, through the Regional Executive Council, constituted a committee led by the respected Hon. Osei Kyei Mensah Bonsu to investigate the reasons behind our loss. Today, the committee submitted its report to the Regional Executive Council after an extensive probe.
This committee was formed even before the National Council constituted a National Committee, demonstrating our commitment to understanding the root causes of our challenges. In a united effort, we reached beyond party executives and engaged the grassroots—markets, churches, mosques, and communities—to hear directly from the people. This approach ensured that every voice was heard and every concern noted.
Now, with these findings, we will work closely with the larger party structure to correct our mistakes and reposition ourselves for victory.
Like David in 1 Samuel 30:8, we shall “pursue, overtake, and recover all.” The 2028 election is ours to win, and the journey starts now—with you and me, united in one accord.
Let’s come together, rebuild, and secure victory for our party and Ghana!

Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George
The Minister of Communications, Digital Technology, and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George, has inaugurated a 23-member Inter-Agency Data Pricing Committee in Accra.
The committee members were drawn from stakeholders in the digital spaces to develop a roadmap that would lead to a reduction in the cost of data.
The committee is expected to finalise the roadmap report and submit it to the Minister on March 6, 2025.
The initiative aims to assess prevailing pricing models and propose recommendations for competitive and affordable data services that drive digital inclusion, economic growth, and national development.
The minister said the establishment of the committee underscored the government’s commitment to ensuring transparency in data pricing mechanisms and bridging the digital divide.
“The players in the industry are not chancellors and are businessmen, but like I have always said, my fidelity is first and foremost to the Ghanaian people before any other consideration,” he stated.
“On the basis of that, we are going to put up this technical committee to have a conversation around the pricing of data. The focus of the committee is not for you to tell the ministry why data is priced at its current price point,” he said.
He said he was aware that in January 2024, one of the Mobile Network Operators (MNOs) wrote to the National Communication Authority proposing a 10 per cent drop.
“The ministry at the time declined a response to the regulator, and so literally for one year, that offer of a 10 per cent reduction from that MNO and a corresponding 11 per cent increase in value offerings has been pending,” he said.
Sam George said the government was committed to ensuring value for money, adding that “the best value and offering for the Ghanaian people is our primary goal.”
He said, “Instead of us having one proposal from one MNO on one bundle offering, I want a holistic review of all the bundle offerings across all the networks.”
He stated that there were many young Ghanaians today who, if given cheaper, affordable data, would help them work and take gig jobs outside the shores of the country, depending on data.
“This is a call to national service, a call to national duty, both for the Committee members and as players in the industry,” he said.
Ken Ashigbey, the Chef Executive of Ghana Chamber of Telecommunications, welcomed the initiative and indicated that it was the best way to ensure value for money.
He called for a concerted effort to address the issue of data pricing, stressing the things associated with data cost were multifaceted.
Mr Ashigbey pledged to work towards meeting the terms of reference for the committee, especially the deadline.
Daniel Oppong Kyeremeh, President of the National Union of Ghana Students, commended the Minister for bringing the student Union into the committee.
He said most students complained about the cost of data, especially during their online sessions, research, and other things, and he was confident of ensuring fair data pricing for all.

African fashion is rich in cultural heritage and vibrant colors, and it’s no surprise that many women turn to these unique styles to dress for church services. Whether attending a Sunday service, a wedding, or any religious event, African fashion offers a wide range of options for women to express their style while maintaining a sense of modesty and respect. From bold prints to elegant silhouettes, African fashion seamlessly blends tradition with contemporary flair.
One of the most popular choices for church service is the Ankara dress. Made from colorful, patterned fabric, Ankara dresses are a symbol of African pride and sophistication. These dresses come in various designs, from A-line to form-fitting styles, and can be paired with matching head wraps or turbans for added elegance. The versatility of Ankara allows women to choose from classic designs or modern cuts, ensuring that they feel both stylish and comfortable during church service.
Another iconic piece of African fashion for church is the lace dress. Lace is often used in church attire due to its delicate and sophisticated appearance. A lace dress, whether in soft pastel hues or bold colors, provides a perfect balance of grace and style. Lace can be used in combination with other fabrics like satin or chiffon for a layered look, making it a popular choice for formal church events. The addition of intricate beadwork or embroidery elevates the design, giving it an extra touch of refinement.
For a more regal look, women may opt for the Buba and Iro ensemble, which is a traditional outfit consisting of a loose-fitting top (Buba) and a wraparound skirt (Iro). This look is often paired with a Gele (head wrap), which adds to its formal and elegant appearance. The Buba and Iro set can be made from a variety of fabrics, such as velvet, silk, or brocade, offering a luxurious yet modest appearance ideal for church services.
Peplum styles are also becoming increasingly popular for African women at church. The peplum cut, with its flared waist detail, adds an element of sophistication while maintaining a flattering silhouette. Paired with a pencil skirt or wide-leg trousers, a peplum dress offers a more contemporary look while still remaining modest and appropriate for religious services.
Maxi dresses made from rich African fabrics like Kente or Aso-oke are another favorite. The long, flowing silhouette of the maxi dress is perfect for church, as it combines modesty with elegance. These dresses often feature intricate designs or beadwork, making them perfect for more formal occasions or celebrations within the church setting.
African fashion for church services allows women to embrace their heritage while dressing elegantly and modestly. With a wide range of options available, from bold prints to delicate lace and regal traditional garments, African fashion continues to evolve, ensuring that women can express their style with grace and poise while remaining true to their cultural roots.
According to the story by ghpage today, Police in Ghana have arrested two suspected terrorists traveling on an Accra-bound bus with a cache of weapons and ammunition concealed in their luggage.
The suspects, identified as 35-year-old Ibrahim Musa and 29-year-old Sani Abubakar, were intercepted during a routine police checkpoint at Kintampo in the Bono East Region.
According to the police, the bus was heading from Tamale to Accra when officers stopped it for inspection.
Upon searching the suspects’ bags, law enforcement officers discovered several AK-47 rifles, rounds of live ammunition, and explosive materials.
“We were conducting a routine search when we noticed the suspects behaving suspiciously,” said ASP Philip Antwi, the officer in charge of the operation.
“Upon further inspection, we found weapons hidden in their luggage. The suspects couldn’t provide a reasonable explanation for possessing the firearms.”
Passengers on the bus were left in shock as police officers handcuffed the suspects and removed the weapons from the vehicle.
“I was sitting right behind them, and I noticed they kept whispering to each other during the search,” said Akua Mensah, a passenger.
“When the police found the guns, everyone started screaming. We thank the police for acting fast.”
The police confirmed that the weapons included four AK-47 rifles, two pistols, and over 500 rounds of ammunition.
Preliminary investigations suggest the suspects may have links to extremist groups operating across West Africa.
“We are working with national security agencies to determine their connections and possible motives,” ASP Antwi added.
“Ghanaians should remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities.”
The suspects were immediately taken into custody and transported to the regional police command in Sunyani for further interrogation.
Meanwhile, residents of Kintampo have expressed concerns over growing insecurity in the area.
“We never thought terrorists could be passing through here. The police must increase patrols and tighten security,” said Yaw Asamoah, a local resident.
The police have assured the public that security measures along major highways will be intensified to prevent similar incidents.
The suspects are expected to appear in court next week to face charges of unlawful possession of firearms, ammunition, and possible involvement in terrorist activities.
Authorities have urged travelers to stay alert and cooperate with security personnel at checkpoints to ensure public safety.
