The Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has proposed the establishment of a new Parliamentary chamber to enhance the security of Members of Parliament (MPs).
The proposal was made during the inauguration of the Parliamentary Service Board for the ninth Parliament on Monday, March 17.
Afenyo-Markin emphasised the need for new infrastructure that reflects the importance of the legislative arm of government.
“Indeed, when I visited the British Parliament, even within the chamber, there is enhanced security. Here in the public gallery, anybody at all can throw anything at an MP, and there is no security.
“Mr Speaker, I am therefore looking forward to an enhanced security regime, and I am pleased to depart from this infrastructure. We can begin a conversation for a new chamber befitting the legislative arm of government.”
However, Mahama Ayariga, the Majority Leader, rejected the proposal by the Minority Leader, citing the current financial crisis of the state as the reason.

Biakoye (O/R), March 17, GNA – Some concerned residents of the Biakoye District in the Oti Region, have made a heartfelt appeal to President John Dramani Mahama to appoint Dr Richard Bisimpo as the District Chief Executive (DCE) of Biakoye.
Dr Richard Bisimpo, a retired Fire Service Commander, is among the three individuals shortlisted for the DCE position and widely recognised within the district for his dedication, hard work, tireless service, and selfless commitment to the development of Biakoye.

The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, has expressed concerns over the security of lawmakers and Parliamentary Service members, citing increasing incidents of attacks by unidentified individuals within the parliamentary enclave.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Parliamentary Service Board for the ninth Parliament, Bagbin urged the Majority Leader to prioritize efforts to enhance security measures within the precincts of the House.
The Speaker revealed that intruders had previously entered Parliament’s premises and attacked members and staff, often escaping by scaling the perimeter wall into the surrounding forest.
He emphasised that strengthening security within the parliamentary precinct is essential for the smooth functioning of the legislature.
“One of the challenges that need to be addressed is to secure the parliamentary enclave to ensure the safety of members and staff. This has been a worrying matter for parliament for some time now, we are actually insecure here.
“We are not safe. Sometimes people can come in and attack us or staff and anytime there is an attempt to apprehend them, they scale over the wall and escape into the forest. This is vital for the functioning of parliament. I believe the ninth board will work assiduously to make this a reality.
“I will call on the leaders of the house to follow up on this matter,” he stated.
Embattled former Minister of Sanitation and Water Resources, Cecilia Abena Dapaah, has been cited for causing financial loss to the state through a contract she awarded during her tenure.
According to private legal practitioner, Martin Luther Kpebu, who made the disclosure on the KeyPoints on TV3 Saturday, March 15, 2025, it was expected of the then A-G to initiate processes for the retrieval of money paid under the contract, but he only gave an opinion that the money be returned to the state.
The Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin has raised urgent concerns about the security situation within the parliamentary enclave, stating that the safety of both members and staff remains a significant issue.
Speaking at the inauguration of the Parliamentary Service Board for the ninth Parliament, Bagbin highlighted the growing insecurity, revealing that attacks on parliamentarians and their staff have become a worrying threat.
“One of the challenges that need to be addressed is to secure the parliamentary enclave to ensure the safety of members and staff,” Bagbin stated.
He added, “This has been a worrying matter for Parliament for some time now, we are actually insecure here.”
The Speaker went on to explain that there have been instances where individuals have managed to breach the parliamentary grounds, posing a danger to those within the compound.
“We are not safe. Sometimes people can come in and attack us or staff and anytime there is an attempt to apprehend them, they scale over the wall and escape into the forest,” he said, expressing deep concern about the ease with which security breaches are taking place.
Bagbin stressed that securing the parliamentary enclave is vital for the proper functioning of Parliament, as it directly affects the ability of lawmakers to carry out their duties without fear for their personal safety.
“This is vital for the functioning of parliament,” he emphasised.
In light of the issue, the Speaker expressed confidence that the Ninth Board of Parliament would work diligently to address the matter. “I believe the ninth board will work assiduously to make this a reality,” he said, underlining the importance of resolving the security concerns swiftly.
Bagbin called on the leaders of the house to take immediate action in following up on the security matter.

General Overseer of the Believers Worship Centre, Prophet Adom Kyei-Duah
The General Overseer of the Believers Worship Centre, Prophet Adom Kyei-Duah, has publicly condemned the actions of some of his branch pastors, accusing them of embezzling church funds.
In a video making rounds on social media, Prophet Adom Kyei-Duah expressed discontent over the misconduct.
“Some brothers have allocated some percentages for themselves. Look at the expenditure when it comes to television. Look at the number of radio FM stations that we have,” he stated.
He lamented about these issues while pointing out the sacrifices he has made for the church.
“I stand on my feet for four hours on Sundays. Look at the money I even deposit or give, even when I am dancing and singing. Look at the money that you shower on me. On Sunday, I gave two envelopes full of money.
“A brother at the branch allotted 30% of the proceedings for himself. When the Thanksgiving offering comes, he takes another money out of it for himself and then pays the rest,” he disclosed.
Prophet Kyei-Duah warned those involved, stating that branches found guilty of embezzling funds would face serious repercussions.
“For every organiser brother whose branch is found to have engaged in any form of embezzlement, the offering or sacrifice that I need to give this year, your branch shall not earn anything from it,” he declared.

A legal expert, Andrew Appiah Danquah, has advised the former Minister of Finance, Ken Ofori-Atta, to fully surrender himself to investigations surrounding the allegations levelled against him by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP).
He explained the need for accountability in public service, urging Ofori-Atta not to give the impression that he is evading the law.
In a video shared on X by TV3 on March 17, 2025, he said, “I have a simple advice for Ken Ofori-Atta.For somebody who has had the privilege of having served Ghana at the very top position, not at the highest level, who took an oath to protect and defend the laws of this country, he should subjugate himself to due process.
“He shouldn’t be giving the impression that he’s running away from the law because, in my view, that’s the impression he’s giving,” he added.
According to Appiah Dankwah, Ofori-Atta informed the OSP that he was uncertain on when he will be back to Ghana.
He, however, questioned Ofori- Atta’s expectation from the OSP, saying “What do you expect the OSP to do?”
Appiah Dankwa, therefore, urged the OSP to continue with the investigations within the confines of the constitution to remind officials of accountability, adding that Ofori-Atta remains innocent until proven guilty.
“I’ll encourage the OSP that he should, in the spirit of playing his role of creating the right political culture that will hold political leadership accountable, do all in his power to investigate Ken within the confines of the principles and values of our constitution and those principal values were exposed by my brother and I agree. He’s innocent until proven guilty,” he noted.
Danquah also explained that no one has said that Ken is guilty but rather Ghanaians demand thorough probe into the allegations leveled against him.
“Nobody has said that Ken is guilty, all we are saying is that we want to investigate potential criminal deeds potentially committed by him and he shouldn’t give the impression that he is running away from that process,” he added.
He urged the OSP to carefully pursue the case, arguing that it will set an example for political accountability in Ghana.
“The OSP should pursue this, like I said, in a collective bid to create that right culture that will send a signal to all politicians that when granted the privilege to serve our country, understand we will hold you accountable,” he stated.

File photo: The visit to the regions revealed shortages of diesel and RON 95 in some retail outlets
An Imminent shortage of Diesel and RON 95 at some pumps in the Bono and Bono East Region has been detected by the Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies.
This was detected through its unannounced mystery shopping exercise, which is conducted periodically in retail outlets across the country.
The visit seeks to evaluate operational efficiency, compliance with company and overall quality standards.
A visit to the Bono and Bono East Regions reveals diesel and RON 95 shortages in some retail outlets.
According to the chamber, stock deficiency disrupts service delivery and may negatively impact customer trust and station reputation.
They are, therefore, calling on the National Petroleum Authority to swiftly address concerns to enhance service delivery.
Here are full details of their report
The Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC) conducted an unannounced mystery shopping exercise across retail outlets in the Bono and Bono East Regions. The purpose of this mystery shopping was to evaluate operational efficiency, compliance with company standards, and overall customer service quality.
The exercise revealed several areas of concern that require urgent attention to maintain operational integrity and customer satisfaction. This report outlines the key findings and provides recommendations for improvement.
Key Findings
ATG Issues:
The exercise identified multiple issues with the Automatic Tank Gauging system (ATG) at various retail outlets. Inconsistent readings and potential calibration errors were observed, which could compromise inventory tracking and operational efficiency. Immediate technical assessments and repairs are recommended to address these discrepancies.
Shortage of Diesel and RON 95:
A notable shortage of diesel and RON 95 was observed at several retail outlets. This stock deficiency disrupts service delivery and may negatively impact customer trust and station reputation. A robust supply chain optimization strategy should be explored to prevent future shortages.
Non-Display of RON Stickers by Some Retail Outlets:
During the exercise, it was noted that some retail outlets failed to display their RON stickers as required. RON stickers indicate the kind of product the retail outlet sells, as some vehicles have specific fuel specifications. RON stickers should be affixed to dispensers to help customers easily identification and choose the type of fuel they wish to purchase.
Need for Safety Awareness Training
The exercise highlighted a lack of adequate safety awareness among staff at multiple retail outlets. Instances of unsafe practices were observed, posing risks to employees and customers alike. We recommend the implementation of mandatory safety awareness training to reinforce protocols and enhance workplace safety.
Sample Check of Pump Verifications and 10-litre can sampling
Sample checks were conducted on fuel pump verifications with 10-litre cans to assess dispensing accuracy. While some pumps performed within acceptable limits, others exhibited minor deviations that could undermine customer confidence and regulatory compliance. In some cases, pumps were shown to be over-delivering, which could affect sales of retail outlets. A comprehensive review and recalibration of affected pumps at various retail outlets in the Bono and Bono East regions are necessary to ensure uniformity, reliability and compliance.
Conclusion
The mystery shopping exercise conducted by the COMAC team has highlighted critical operational and compliance issues at filling stations in the Bono and Bono East regions. Addressing these concerns promptly will enhance service delivery, ensure regulatory compliance, and maintain customer satisfaction. COMAC remains available to support the implementation of these recommendations and further assist in improving station performance.

In what is being hailed as a historic moment for Ghanaian music, Stonebwoy, the celebrated Reggae and Dancehall artiste, successfully sold out the O2 Sheperd’s Bush Empire, shattering the long-held belief that no Ghanaian musician could accomplish such a feat without support from the core UK based Ghanaian promoters.

Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr. Frank Amoakohene has revealed that he is under intense pressure from residents in the region following the recent instability in power supply, with the worst incident occurring over the weekend.
For weeks, residents of the Ashanti Region have raised persistent concerns over the unstable power supply, which continues to disrupt both commercial and domestic activities.
Dr. Amoakohene lamented that he has been inundated with calls from residents urging him to intervene and help resolve the power crisis.
“For some few months now, we have been having power outages. Others have blamed it on sabotage, and others have blamed it on a lot of reasons.
“Sunday, March 16, was epic, it [dumsor] was almost all over the districts and municipalities, so, I have had a lot of complaints from most of the communities. We believe that you are in to solve problems in the energy sector,” he stated.
The growing complaints over the unstable power situation have compelled the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, John Abdulai Jinapor, to visit the region and engage key stakeholders in the power sector to find solutions to the challenge.
As part of efforts to address the shortfalls, the Minister is expected to inspect ongoing power infrastructure projects in the Ashanti Region.
Mr. Jinapor attributed the situation to what he described as a weak power sector inherited by the current administration.
He, however, outlined several measures aimed at addressing the challenge and improving power supply in the region.
“Ashanti region peculiarly has a major problem with power supply, it’s not just the supply of the power into the grid, but also evacuating the power and distributing it. GRIDCo is injecting some major transformers to stabilise the power supply.
“ECG is also doing some major works and we expect that the power supply situation in Kumasi and its environs and Ashanti Region in general should see significant improvements,” he stated.

King Paluta, King Promise and Kweku Smoke are in contention for the Artiste of the Year title
The 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards nominations are out, and artistes, along with industry stakeholders, are gearing up to secure prestigious awards at the main event.
As with previous editions, this year’s TGMA comes with some additions, subtractions, and notable changes that will stir up excitement.
As preparations are underway, here are four key things to note before this year’s TGMA
1. New Category Added
Earlier this year, the TGMA board introduced a new category: ‘Best Urban/Contemporary Gospel Song’.
This category aims to recognise the most popular gospel song that blends contemporary genres like R&B, hip-hop, and pop with traditional gospel elements.
It’s an exciting addition that showcases the evolution of gospel music in Ghana.
2. Group of the Year excluded again
The ‘Group of the Year’ category, which had been a staple at the Telecel Ghana Music Awards for many years, saw groups like Keche (2021), DopeNation (2020), Bethel Revival Choir (2019), Wutah (2018), and VVIP (2017) take home the award, was scrapped in 2022.
This was due to what was termed “a lack of competitiveness.”
In 2024, a petition spearheaded by fresh music sensation LalixLola, with support from industry players, called for the category’s revival.
However, despite the call, the category has yet to make a return.
3. ‘First and second timers’
After a stellar 2024 performance, popular rapper Kweku Smoke earned his first-ever ‘Artiste of the Year’ nomination, much to the excitement of his loyal fanbase.
Also, gospel music group, Team Eternity, which made waves in 2024 with their hit song “Defe Defe,” received a nomination in the ‘Artiste of the Year’ category.
In addition, they have secured seven other nominations in various categories, including Best Gospel Song, Best Collaboration, Best Group Performance, and Best New Artiste, among others.
4. A ‘back for round two’
After a tight race in 2024, which saw him lose to Stonebwoy, Afrobeats sensation King Promise is back and determined to win the coveted ‘Artiste of the Year’ award.
This category is keenly contested by King Paluta following an impressive 2024 that saw his hit songs dominate the charts.
In conclusion, as the industry continues to evolve, it will be interesting to see how these changes shape the awards scheme.

Ghanaian musician, Bashir Annan, popularly known as Gambo, has seen his iconic song “Drip Remix” receiving a nomination for International Collaboration of the Year at the 2025 Telecel Ghana Awards (TGMA).
The song, which features US rapper Jim Jones and Ghanaian musician Edem, has been recognised for its powerful blend of cultures and its impact on promoting Ghanaian culture on the international scene.
The “Drip Remix” video, a masterpiece of Afro hiphop music, shot in New York, showcases Jim Jones handsomely dressed in Kente like a Ghanaian king.
This historic collaboration marks the first time a Ghanaian musician has influenced a Western artist to adopt the Ghanaian culture, rather than trying to dress and copy cat the dress code of the Western world.
The competition for this year’s TGMA is intense, with some of Ghana’s top musicians namely stone boy, King Promise, Joe mantle and Diana Hamilton, securing nominations, making the race for the ultimate awards highly competitive. The display of the Ghanaian cultural heritage & pride, from the drummer’s, to the worrier attires and display of the Ghanian cultural Adwoa dance in ‘Drip Remix’ video to the western world and diaspora was a true statement and is anticipated to win the ‘International Collaboration Of The Year’ category.
So far, Charterhouse has released nominees for several key categories, including Best HipHop Song, Best Afrobeat Song, Best Hiplife Song, Best Highlife Song, Best Urban Contemporary Gospel Song, Best Reggae/Dancehall Song, Best Video, Best Male Vocal Performance, and Best Female Vocal Performance.

The Savannah Regional Security Council, has arrested 13 suspected illegal miners at Bamboi area in the Savannah Region.
The suspects include five Chinese nationals and eight Ghanaians, who were apprehended during an operation by the Savannah Regional Security Council.
As part of the operation, nine excavators and other mining equipment were seized by the security personnel.
The Savannah Regional Minister, Mr. Salisu Be-Awuribe, told journalists that the level of destructions necessitated the operation by the Savannah Regional Security Council.
“We received reports about the environmental damage caused by mining activities in this area, and after visiting the sites, I must say I am shocked, heartbroken, and saddened by the extent of the destruction,” he stated.
He warned that the security personnel will deal severely with any individual or groups engaged in illegal mining in the region, and advised them to voluntarily vacate their various sites.
Residents in the Savannah Region have called on government to implement drastic measures to tackle the illegal mining menace, as the illegal activities especially along the Black Volta in the Bamboi area of the Savannah Region have become a serious concern, as significant sections of the river have been heavily polluted.
The Ghana Police Service, in its efforts to further investigate the murder of investigative journalist Ahmed Suale, has arrested a key suspect linked to the case.
The suspect, identified as Daniel Owusu Koranteng, also known as Akwasi Amakye, is accused of betraying Suale by leaking his photographs to a prominent Ghanaian politician before his assassination.
Ahmed Hussein-Suale was shot dead near his family home in Madina on January 16, 2019, by unknown assailants. His murder came after he collaborated with the BBC on an investigative report.
Amakye, a former colleague of Suale at Tiger Eye Private Investigations, was dismissed from the investigative firm before the incident.
According to police intelligence, he fled Ghana immediately after authorities began linking him to the case.
His arrest follows crucial findings from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) in the United States, which uncovered phone records and other key evidence suggesting his involvement.
The FBI’s analysis reportedly includes phone conversations between Amakye and Suale in the days leading up to the murder. As part of the ongoing investigation, Ahmed Suale’s mobile phones were sent to the U.S. for forensic examination.
A source within the police Criminal Investigations Department (CID) disclosed that Amakye used to frequently visit Suale at his residence in Madina.
However, upon sensing that police were closing in on him, he relocated to the United States.
Authorities say he secretly returned to Ghana last week, leading to his arrest at a hair-plaiting salon in Amasaman-Adease.
The development has sparked controversy within the police service, as a senior officer is reportedly attempting to interfere with the investigation.
According to sources, the officer is advocating for the suspect to be granted police inquiry bail rather than being immediately arraigned before court. The situation has reportedly created tension at the police headquarters.
Ahmed Suale was assassinated after he and his team at Tiger Eye PI exposed widespread corruption in African football, with a significant focus on Ghana.
A joint operation by regulatory and intelligence agencies at Tema Port has led to the interception of opioid drugs worth an estimated GH₵20 million, which were purportedly in transit to Niger.
The shipment was seized following a coordinated inspection involving the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), the Narcotics Control Commission (NACOC), National Security, the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB), the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), and the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority (GPHA).
The consignment included a large quantity of opioid pharmaceuticals, laced with other drugs, raising concerns over illicit drug trafficking through Ghana’s ports.
Among the intercepted opioids were 26 cartons of Tapentadol 250mg, 160 cartons of Tafradol 120mg, and 40 cartons of Timaking Tapentadol 120mg. The consignment also contained 190 cartons of Chlorpheniramine Maleate and 320 cartons of Diazole Loperamide.
Ongoing investigation
The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, together with Commissioner of Customs, Brig Gen Zibrim Ayorrogo, and CEO of the FDA, Dr Delese Mimi Darko, visited Tema Port on Monday, March 17, 2025, to assess the situation. They confirmed that investigations were ongoing to uncover the full details of the shipment, including its intended recipients.
Mr Akandoh stated that authorities were working to determine the identities, operational methods, and motives of those behind the consignment. He noted that Ghana has recently been flagged as a major transit hub for opioids in West Africa, while Nigeria has been praised for its robust measures in preventing the movement of such controlled substances.
He emphasised that while Ghana remains committed to facilitating trade, the country will not allow itself to become a haven for illegal opioids. He assured the public that President John Dramani Mahama is personally committed to addressing the issue and preventing the proliferation of such substances.
Regulatory measures and enforcement
Mr Akandoh reaffirmed that under Ghana’s regulations, only Tema Port and Kotoka International Airport (KIA) are designated for the import and export of pharmaceutical products. He warned that no medication is permitted to enter or exit the country via land borders, and urged security agencies to confiscate any unauthorised drugs, even common ones like paracetamol, if found being transported through illegal routes.
He also disclosed that the government is engaging with Niger’s authorities to verify whether the consignment was officially sanctioned by the country, stressing that even if approval had been granted, Ghana would not allow its ports to be used as a transit point for illegal or unauthorised drugs.
The government is moving swiftly to court to obtain an order for the proper disposal of the seized items.
Appeal for public support
The Minister of Health commended the regulatory and security agencies for their vigilance and called on the public, particularly importers and exporters, to volunteer information that could help combat illicit trade in pharmaceuticals.
“I have asked for an update on the whereabouts of the exporters and importers, and very soon, I will be briefed on their current status,” he said.
Customs violation
The CEO of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Delese Mimi Darko stated that the shipment had not been properly declared to Customs, thereby constituting a customs offence and warranting its seizure by the state.
She further noted that the products lacked key manufacturing details, with the only marking on the strips indicating that they were “Made in India”.
Authorities have assured the public that all necessary steps are being taken to clamp down on illegal drug trafficking and protect the country’s public health and security.
Celebrated UK-based Ghanaian Afrocentric artiste Joseph Matthew’s newest track, “Love In You,” has garnered consequential acclaim within the Ghanaian music scene, particularly catching the ear of legendary sound engineer Kaywa.
David Kojo Kyei, better known as Kaywa, a figure responsible for crafting hits for numerous top-tier Ghanaian artistes, has publicly praised the song, describing it as “Solid.”
Despite not being involved in the production of “Love In You,” Kaywa expressed his long-standing admiration for Joseph Matthew’s work.
He conveyed to Hotfmghana his unsurprised reaction to the song’s quality, recognising its potential as a strong contender for reggae song of the year.
Produced by the acclaimed Francis Osei, ‘Love in You’ is a love song in which Matthew expresses his affection for a woman.
‘Love in You’ is accompanied by a compelling live music video. This release adds to his growing discography, which includes popular tracks like ‘Hallelujah’, ‘Nyame Ye’, The Name, Blessed, Promise Land and ‘Fear No Evil’.
The silence of Civil Society Groups and labour unions over the government’s mass dismissal of Ghanaian workers has been questioned by the Centre for Democratic Movement (CDM).
In a statement, the CDM condemned the mass dismissals and accused President Mahama of “reckless execution of executive powers” in the manner the dismissals have been carried out.
While calling out the government and urging the unfairly dismissed workers to be reinstated, the CDM expressed surprise at the silence of Civil Society Groups, as well as the TUC and other labour unions, whose members have been affected.
“The recent wave of mass terminations of public and civil servants by President John Dramani Mahama is a dangerous precedent that undermines Ghana’s democracy, constitutional order, and labour rights,” the CDM said in the statement.
“This reckless exercise of executive power is not only legally questionable but also socially and economically disastrous.”
“At this critical juncture, labour unions, civil society organizations, and all well-meaning stakeholders must rise against this unconstitutional mass termination.”
“The Trades Union Congress (TUC), Civil and Local Government Staff Association of Ghana (CLOGSAG), Ghana National Association of Teachers (GNAT), Ghana Registered Nurses and Midwives Association (GRNMA), and other workers’ unions cannot remain silent while public servants are subjected to unjust dismissals.”
The CDM added that labour unions, in particular, must protect their members who are being targeted by the government and unfairly dismissed.
“These organizations have a duty to protect their members from political victimization and must use all legal and advocacy means to challenge this blatant abuse of power. Ghanaians must collectively resist this injustice to safeguard job security, professionalism, and stability within the public sector.”
The CDM also accused President Mahama of breaching the 1992 Constitution, as his action, the CDM noted, is unconstitutional.
“President Mahama’s directive to revoke all public sector appointments made after December 7, 2024, through the Chief of Staff, is a clear violation of Ghana’s 1992 Constitution.
The Constitution provides specific protections for public sector workers, ensuring that they are not subjected to arbitrary dismissals based on political transitions.”

The Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA) is urging the government to properly restructure the Value Added Tax (VAT) system, highlighting its potential as a goldmine for the government.
According to president of the Union, Dr. Joseph Obeng, a well-restructured VAT system would significantly play a major role in increasing Ghana’s Tax-to-GDP beyond 20 percent.
Ghana’s current tax-to-GDP ratio lags behind many middle-income economies. However, experts believe that the country can increase its tax-to-GDP ratio to more than 20% with the right structural adjustments.
Speaking to GhanaWeb Business on the sidelines of the 2025 Deloitte Economic Dialogue on the 2025 budget on March 17 2025, the GUTA president said a more simplified VAT system would go a long way to help the business community.
“For the VAT reforms, we are waiting for it. We have a lot to say. If you are able to restructure the VAT, it is a goldmine for the government. Our problem has been the structure. If you are able to make it more affordable and simplified, government would be able to do its work, and our tax-to-GDP can go beyond 20 percent,” he stated
Dr. Obeng also praised the government for the 3 percent increase in the Growth and Sustainability levy on mining companies.
He said the government must pay attention to the extractive sector as it also serves as a revenue hub for the country.

The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, has launched the government’s flagship Blue Water Initiative, aimed at restoring polluted water resources.
As part of the initiative, he announced the commencement of a four-day training program for the first batch of 460 Blue Water Guards, who will provide 24-hour monitoring and protection of the nation’s water bodies.
The minister emphasized that the Blue Water Guards will serve as vigilant stewards, safeguarding water resources from the devastating effects of illegal mining. He also revealed plans to train and deploy 2,000 guards nationwide in the coming months.
“The call for urgent action has never been more pressing. People often do not want us to say it, but this is a crisis of our lifetime. At the heart of why we are here is the Blue Water Initiative, and at the heart of this initiative is the heart of the Blue Water Guard. This aims to train 2,000 individuals across the country to protect our valuable water bodies.”
“They will serve as the frontline defenders of our water bodies, and ensure that our water bodies remain a source of life, and livelihood for generations to come. The responsibility of the Blue Water Guards is paramount in the fight against illegal mining,” he stated.
Layers, texture, and a beaded crown—Kiekie’s latest look is anything but subtle.
Kiekie is giving modern royalty in a rich mix of teal and blue, wearing a voluminous, floor-length look designed by Ugo Monye. The outfit features a structured, short-sleeved tunic with a high neckline, layered over wide-leg trousers with a subtle, shimmering pattern.
A Rocha Ghana has called for the abolishment of river guard operations as a strategy to combat illegal mining around water bodies and forest reserves, arguing that it has proven ineffective and is a waste of resources.
The Minister for Lands and Natural Resources, Emmanuel Armah Kofi-Buah, announced the launch of the ‘Blue Water Initiative’ and the training of the first batch of ‘River Guards’ to curb the environmental impact of illegal mining in the Western Region.
The initiative is part of President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to restoring Ghana’s environment while rehabilitating polluted water bodies.
Speaking to Citi News on Monday, March 17, Deputy National Director of A Rocha Ghana, Daryl Bosu, questioned the effectiveness of the initiative, given that its implementation over the years has yielded no results.
“We don’t see the strategy as going to be effective; we wish that it was scrapped entirely. What exactly are they going to do? Are they going to do anything different from what past administrations have done?
“We need resources to rehabilitate degraded land and to clean the rivers. We don’t need to be spending those resources on things like river guards,” he emphasized.
He further urged the government to redirect resources into empowering residents in mining communities to report miners encroaching on these sites.
“When communities realize illegal mining activities, nobody responds to them. The community members are the frontline vanguards because they see the activities on their way to their farms, markets, and so on. They should be given priority when they report these acts to the compliance agencies, “He stated.
Ghanaian legal luminary and former Ghana National Petroleum Corporation (GNPC) boss, affiliated with the National Democratic Congress, Lawyer Tsatsu Tsikata, has revealed that he harbours no bitterness towards former President John Agyekum Kufour, despite what he describes as an orchestrated attempt to send him to prison in 2008.
Speaking in an interview with Serwaa Amihere, Tsatsu Tsikata stated that he does not feel the need to forgive the former president because he never held any grave grievances against him. However, he described Kufour’s actions towards him as atrocious.
“There is nothing to forgive former President Kuffour. I never had any bitterness or any feelings of grave grievance against Kuffour. He did atrocious things against me personally for whatever reason. He was determined to send me to prison and I did go in prison orchestrated by him in 2008.” He said.
Explaining why he rejected Kufour’s presidential pardon in 2008, Tsatsu Tsikata stated that the pardon was not in good faith because his sentence was orchestrated by himself.
“He tried in his last day of office to offer me a pardon, I rejected it because it was in bad faith. He orchestrated everything. The day that I was sentenced, the court has not even announced that it wss going to give a decision because the trial hasn’t ended. There was something in the supreme court which needed to come back. It was set up for me to go to jail on that day and I went to jail”
He further recounted how his imprisonment at Nsawam Prisons exposed him to the harsh realities of Ghana’s justice system. According to him, he met many prisoners who had been incarcerated for over a decade without legal representation.
“I actually thank god for that experience. Going to Nsawam Prisons took me to another faculty of law because I engaged with a lot of the prisoners and realised that there are a lot of people suffering injustices. A lot of those people didn’t have lawyers and have been in prison for 12 years” he revealed.

The Minister of Health, Kwabena Mintah Akandoh, has vowed to prevent the country from being used as a hub for the peddling of various drugs.
Addressing the media on Monday, March 17, 2025, Akandoh expressed concerns about the dangers associated with the influx and illicit trade of opioids in the country, adding that the president is equally committed to addressing the issue.
He stated that the country’s efforts to facilitate trade with neighbouring countries would not be exploited by unscrupulous individuals to import harmful drugs into the country.
“In as much as we are interested in facilitating trade in this country, we will not allow Ghana to be a safe haven for opioids. And let me tell you that the president is personally interested in this matter. On my way here, he called me twice, and it tells you how critical this particular issue is,” he said.
The minister, who is also a lawmaker, stated that the country’s laws designate two specific routes—the Tema Port and Kotoka International Airport— for the legal transportation of drugs to help streamline the process and ensure the quality of the substances.
In a bid to enforce strict compliance with these laws, the minister issued a directive to security agencies to confiscate any drugs transported through land borders, as these are not designated routes for legal drug transportation.
“By our laws, there are only two designated areas for the import and export of medication or drugs, Tema Port and the Kotoka International Airport. Drugs are not imported through our land borders, and therefore, I encourage all the stakeholders, all our security agencies, to confiscate any drugs, even if it is paracetamol and it’s going through our land bodies,” he continued.
The Member of Parliament for Juaboso restated the danger posed by the influx of opioids into the country, emphasising that his office, with the full support of the government, is committed to combating the drug problem and taking strong action.
He added that most illegal drugs enter the country through transit goods, noting that they are working to tighten regulations governing the transit of goods to close any gaps or loopholes that could contribute to this issue.
“The president has also committed that he is going to provide all the logistics necessary for us to effectively fight the influx of opioids in this country. So, the law is clear: we are not going to reinvent the wheel. In fact, we are also looking at tightening our regulations regarding transit goods because they usually hide behind transit goods.
“This is believed to be going to Niger, and last night, I was in talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs. We are contacting the Niger government to know whether or not they have okayed such a consignment. Even if they have, we will not allow our ports to be a transit point for illegal or unauthorised drugs.”
The minister made this announcement following the interception of a 40-foot container of undeclared opioids bound for Niger, which was seized at Tema Port.
The Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) reportedly seized a 40-foot container filled with pharmaceutical opioids at the Tema Port that was destined for Niger.
According to a report by graphic.com.gh, the consignment, lacking proper labelling, did not include the details of the manufacturer, except for a “Made in India” inscription on the strips.
Further details from the report indicate that the consignment had not been properly declared to customs, an act that constitutes a customs offence, thus warranting the seizure.
The container, upon inspection, was found to contain Tapentadol 120mg, 40 cartons of Diazole Loperamide 3mg, and 190 cartons of Chlorpheniramine Maleate, along with 320 cartons of other pharmaceuticals.

Stop Dragging Me Into Your Nonsense- Charlotte Osei “Fires” Gabby Over The “State Lands” Brouhaha
News Hub Creator1h
Charlotte Osei, the former Chairperson of the Electoral Commission, has hit back at Gabby Otchere-Darko over allegations concerning the land she owns. The dispute began when MP Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa accused Gabby and his wife of seizing state lands to establish their media business. Gabby rejected these accusations, presenting evidence in his defense.
In response, Gabby redirected the conversation, challenging Ablakwa to investigate how John Mahama allegedly removed public servants from land near Asaase Radio, paving the way for Charlotte Osei to occupy it.
Osei did not take kindly to this claim and swiftly called Gabby out for spreading falsehoods. She insisted that she legally purchased her land in a commercial deal in 2007 and cautioned him against involving her in his political battles.
“You complain about lies being spread about you, yet you turn around and spread blatant lies about others. If you believe Ablakwa is wrong, take legal action—I’d be happy to do the same. I have never benefited from public land. Check your facts. I bought my land through a commercial transaction in 2007. Gabby, stop spreading falsehoods and keep me out of your nonsense. You know the truth, and this is unfair,” she posted on Twitter.

Composers of some Ghanaian hit songs you probably do not know are dead From the early to mid-2000s, several Ghanaian musicians from the fields of highlife, hiplife and gospel, dominated the airwaves with numerous hit songs.
With their catchy tunes and unforgettable lyrics, these artistes made a huge impact in the entertainment industry and captured the hearts of music lovers across the country.
Sadly, many of them passed away and as time passed, it seems their names have faded from the public’s memory, even though their songs are still widely played.
Some music lovers are even unaware that these talented musicians have passed on.
With that being said, let’s take a look at a list of these late artistes below:
Nana Wusu
Highlife musician Nana Wusu released numerous songs such as “Ma Te Me Ho,” “Ayefro,” and “Dangerous” in 2010.
One of his tracks, “Mame Kiss,” became a major hit, overshadowing his name to the point where fans began referring to the song as “Philipa.”
Nana Wusu passed away in 2013 at his residence in the Ashanti Region after battling an illness.
Nana Lyttle
Hiplife musician, Nana Lyttle, was famous for hit songs such as “Naa Kwaley” in the 2000s.
The song, which featured Lazy Dezy, became a hit in 2013.
He passed away on December 28, 2022, after battling an illness.
His death was announced by his brother, DJ Precious Jewel, who confirmed he passed away at the Achimota Hospital.
Although he has passed, his “Naa Kwaley” record still resonates on the airwaves, with people who are unaware of his death still wondering about his whereabouts.
Brother Philip
Ghanaian gospel musician Philip Nyarko, popularly known as Brother Philip, had major gospel hits in 2007 with songs like “Momma Yenko Gya Me,” “Yesu Ye Dawasi,” and “Wo Tumi So,” winning the hearts of music lovers.
Sadly, Brother Philip passed away on February 7, 2007, at age 32 after short illness.
With time, after his death, his name disappeared from the music scene, but his hit songs still live on.
People who are unaware of his passing and have noticed his absence from the music scene often ask questions about his whereabouts.
Bak Tye:
Ekow Zagla, known by his stage name Bak Tye or Baka Tee, was a Ghanaian hiplife musician and rapper.
Born in 1980, he was known for his hit song “Yenpie” in 2004, which featured Samini.
Bak Tye also worked with Mzbel on her track “Awaso Me.”
He passed away on July 28, 2019, at the age of 39, and not many fans are likely aware that he is no longer alive.
Some fans probably think he simply disappeared from the music scene.
Rev. Prince Nyarko
Gospel musician Rev. Prince Nyarko passed away in 2022.
His daughter revealed that, prior to his demise, he had recovered from an illness and was preparing to give testimony at church the following Sunday.
Sadly, he was found dead in his room when his wife went to serve him breakfast.
Rev. Nyarko was known for hit songs such as “Henna Ne Wadamfo Pa,” “Nyame Ye Osahene,” and “Okamafo Jesus.”
There wasn’t much buzz surrounding the announcement of his death, and some music lovers probably believe he is still alive but has just gone into hibernation.
Tommy Wiredu
Highlife musician Tommy Wiredu was known for hit songs like “Medo Yeduru,” “Susu Biribi,” and “Mehu Ye Anka.”
After his demise in 2003, his songs have continued to buzz on the airwaves, and some music lovers probably are unaware of his death.
Vybrant Faya
Emmanuel Kojo Quayeson, better known as Vybrant Faya, was a Dancehall musician born on April 1, 1987.
His hit song “Mampi,” released in 2014, became more popular than he was.
Sadly, he did not live to enjoy his short-lived fame, as he passed away in a tragic motor accident on the Accra-Tema motorway in October 2016.
Although his song continues to be enjoyed by many fans, some of them, unaware of his death, are still skeptical about his whereabouts and often wonder why he has disappeared from the music scene.
Prophet Seth Frimpong
Gospel musician Prophet Seth Frimpong contributed to the Ghanaian music industry with hit songs like “Okumchola” and “Nyame Animonyam.”
Known as the “Dancing Prophet,” he tragically passed away in 2020 at the age of 50.
Some of his popular songs include, “Mehuriso,” “Adansidie,” and “Nyame Animonyam.”
People who are unaware of his passing still believe that, like several gospel music veterans who have gone into hibernation, Prophet Seth Frimpong has simply stepped away from the spotlight.

Former Inspector General of Police, Dr George Akuffo Dampare
COP Christian Tetteh Yohunu has assumed office as the Inspector General of Police (IGP) following his swearing-in by President John Dramani Mahama on Friday, March 14, 2025, replacing Dr George Akuffo Dampare, who served as IGP from 2021 to 2025.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony, the president commended the former IGP for his professionalism and commitment to national security.
“Dr Dampare has served the nation with dedication and commitment, and his contribution to law enforcement and national security will not be forgotten. We thank him for his service and wish him well in his future endeavours,” he stated.
The tenure of Dr Dampare witnessed some notable developments and controversies.
While there were a number of events that defined his tenure, GhanaWeb takes a look at some 5 things Ghanaians will remember him for.
Renovation of Police Headquarters
While Dr Dampare oversaw a number of infrastructure upgrades during his tenure, one of the most notable was the renovation of the Police Headquarters in Accra, along with the upgrade of several facilities of the police to enhance the image of the service and ultimately improve working conditions for officers.
Centralisation of Police Communications
During his tenure, police communications was centralised as part of efforts to streamline information flow and prevent miscommunication.
However, this development faced public backlash as many saw the initiative as limiting the work of some police officers trained to handle police communications.
Launch of Ghana Police TV
During the tenure of Dr Dampare, the Police TV was introduced in 2023 to create awareness about police operations, improve public engagements and educate the public about law enforcement matters.
Police Promotions Controversy
On May 15, 2023, 82 police officers sued Dr Dampare for failing to promote them.
According to them, they were unfairly denied promotions despite completing their studies during the 2017/2018 academic year.
Leaked Tape Saga
On July 11, 2023, a leaked audio recording allegedly involving a police commissioner and a politician discussing a plot to remove IGP Dampare from office, ahead of the 2024 general election, flooded social media.
Subsequently, Parliament established a committee to investigate the matter.
After some months of hearings, the former IGP was exonerated by the committee, and it also concluded that three of the police officers: COP Alex Mensah (rtd), Superintendent George Lysander Asare, and Superintendent Eric Emmanuel Gyebi, breached section 17(d) Police Service Act, 1970 (Act 350) and Regulation 82 (1)(c) of the Police Service Regulations, 2012 (C.I. 76).
Public Engagements in Informal Settings
The former IGP was also recognised for his humane approach to policing and his interactions with the public in informal settings, such as playing draughts, engaging with school children, among others.
Dr Dampare was appointed by former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo in 2021, taking over from James Oppong-Boanuh, who had served since October 2019.
He was the youngest IGP appointed in the Fourth Republic and the eighth youngest since Ghana gained independence.

Executives of the Orange Growers Association of Ghana with Agric minister, Eric Opoku
The Orange Growers Association (OGA) has engaged the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MoFA) in a high-level discussion to address critical challenges in Ghana’s citrus industry, including financing constraints, market inefficiencies, and post-harvest waste management.
The meeting, held in Accra, brought together key industry stakeholders, processors, and government representatives to explore solutions aimed at stabilising and growing the sector.
A key issue highlighted during the meeting was the lack of working capital for citrus farmers, with many struggling to sustain operations due to long payment cycles from processors.
Although Ghana produced 440,000 tons of citrus in 2024, only 40 percent of the harvest was monetised, leaving farmers vulnerable to financial distress. “Our biggest challenge is liquidity. We do not have the working capital to wait 60 days for payments. Farmers need immediate financial support to keep their farms running,” Theodore Tsidi Kloba, Business Development Manager at OGA said.
He explained that his outfit would like to leverage existing parastatals of the Ministry to find solutions to the prevailing issues.
The meeting also addressed the significant volume of citrus waste, which presents an untapped US$100 million market opportunity in animal feed, biofertilisers, and essential oil extraction.
“Right now, we are throwing away what could be a major revenue stream,” Mr. Kloba noted. “If we invest in citrus waste processing, we can generate additional income for farmers while reducing environmental damage,” he added.
One of the most promising solutions discussed was black soldier fly farming, where citrus waste is used to produce protein-rich feed for livestock. “We need to stop seeing waste as a burden and start seeing it as a business opportunity,” Kloba noted.
In response to these concerns, the sector Minister, Eric Opoku outlined potential interventions, which aim to integrate processing, storage, and financing support for farmers.
He outlined the government’s commitment to transforming the citrus industry into a major economic pillar.
“The citrus sector represents one of our most promising agricultural frontiers, with production volumes now surpassing even some of our traditional staples. This government recognises that unlocking its full potential requires addressing the current liquidity challenges faced by our farmers and processors,” he stated.
Kwasi Etu Bonde, Technical Director at MoFA, also said the Ministry has already re-evaluated its framework to provide critical support for the industry. The meeting concluded with a commitment to pursue financial interventions, including a structured revolving fund for citrus farmers.
Furthermore, there was a consensus to develop a waste-to-value strategy that supports livestock feed production, fertiliser manufacturing, and citrus oil extraction as well as engage other stakeholders, including policymakers, financial institutions, and private investors to create a sustainable citrus value chain.
“This is a defining moment for Ghana’s citrus industry. With the right financial and policy interventions, we can transform citrus farming into a high-value agribusiness sector,” Kloba added.

Former Ghanaian midfielder Emmanuel Agyemang-Badu has entreated Ghanaians to accept whoever Otto Addo selects as the captain of the Black Stars.
He opined that people don’t have to criticize the coach or the technical team over the decision, as the team needs to have a leader.
The former Great Olympics midfielder said that he has no problem with Jordan Ayew being appointed Black Stars captain, considering his commitment and performances.
“No time for blame games anymore, let’s reset the Black Stars. Jordan Ayew is the captain of the Black Stars, let’s respect that and move on,” he told Takoradi-based Connect FM.
This comes after reports emerged that head coach Otto Addo is set to announce Jordan Ayew as the captain of the Black Stars, following the absence of his brother André Dede Ayew.
There has been controversy surrounding the role after it was given to Mohammed Kudus and later taken from him during the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifiers.
The Black Stars will face Chad on March 21, 2025, at the Accra Sports Stadium before facing Madagascar in an away fixture on March 24, 2025.
Ghana are second in Group I with nine points, tied with leaders Comoros, while Madagascar are third with seven points, followed by Mali with five points.

Rwanda has cut diplomatic ties with Belgium, saying it has been “consistently undermined” by the European nation during the ongoing conflict in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
Brussels has been leading calls for European nations to sanction Rwanda over its support for the M23, a rebel group at the centre of DR Congo’s crisis.
The authorities in Kigali, Rwanda’s capital, have given Belgian diplomats 48 hours to leave the country.
Belgium, which is the former colonial power, has said it will respond to these measures and labelled Rwanda’s decision “disproportionate”.
Despite assertions from the UN and US, Rwanda has denied backing the M23.
In its statement on Monday, Kigali accused Brussels of attempting to “sustain its neo-colonial delusions”.
“Belgium has clearly taken sides in a regional conflict and continues to systematically mobilise against Rwanda in different forums, using lies and manipulation to secure an unjustified hostile opinion of Rwanda, in an attempt to destabilise both Rwanda and the region,” the statement said.
Belgian Foreign Minister Maxime Prevot responded to Rwanda’s measures on social media, saying: “This is disproportionate and shows that when we disagree with Rwanda they prefer not to engage in dialogue.”
Prevot said Rwandan diplomats in Belgium will be declared “persona non grata”.
This declaration can lead to the removal of diplomatic status and often results in the expulsion or the withdrawal of recognition of envoys.
Around 7,000 people have been killed in the fighting between the M23 and DR Congo’s armed forces in the east of the country since the beginning of the year, the Congolese authorities have said.
According to the UN children’s agency, Unicef, more than 850,000 people have been forced to flee their homes since the conflict increased in intensity in January.
In the past two months, the M23 have taken control of two key cities – Goma and Bukavu.
In an attempt to pressure Rwanda into withdrawing its support for the M23 Britain has cut some of its aid to the country.
Last month, the UN Security Council demanded that the M23 end hostilities and that Rwanda should pull its troops out of DR Congo.
Before Kigali cut ties with Brussels, Rwandan President Paul Kagame vowed that his country would “stand up” to Belgium.
“We would ask [Belgium]: ‘Who are you by the way? Who put you in charge of us?’ Rwandans believe in God, but did God really put these people in charge of Rwanda?” Kagame asked in an address on Sunday.

The Minority in Parliament has cautioned the government over its decision to return to the bond market, warning that recent fiscal missteps and data manipulations could negatively impact investor confidence and derail the country’s economic progress.
They argued that the timing of the announcement coincided with the government’s release of elevated fiscal deficit figures, which have led to adverse economic consequences, including increased borrowing risks.
“It is surprising nevertheless that notwithstanding the improvement in the debt environment, the timing of the announcement to open the bond market coincided with the announcement of the elevated fiscal deficits, a condition that exposes the country to high risk of borrowing from the markets.
“The effects of these unfortunate data manipulations are already hitting our economy,” they warned at a press conference in Parliament.
Led by the former Finance Minister, Dr. Mohammed Amin Adam, the Minority pointed to the widening of the country’s sovereign bond spreads, which have increased to nearly 700 basis points (bps) from the 500s just three months ago, reversing gains made previously.
“Why do we want to destroy the gains we have made through such cheap politics?” the Minority quizzed.
Negative Market Reactions
The Minority cited Bloomberg’s report on March 11, 2025, which detailed how Ghana’s dollar sovereign bonds suffered declines following the Finance Minister’s budget presentation.
“Bloomberg reported last Tuesday, March 11, the very day the Budget was presented to Parliament that Ghana’s Dollar sovereign bonds were among the worst performers in emerging markets after the Finance Minister said the country missed a primary budget balance target for 2024.
“Dollar bonds due in 2035 declined 1.8% to 70.91 cents on the dollar, while notes maturing in 2029 fell 1% to 86.965 cents on the dollar,” Dr. Adam added.
The Minority warned that inaccurate fiscal data manipulation to create a negative economic narrative was contributing to these adverse market reactions.
“So, you see, if you cook figures to create a narrative to run your country down, international investors will show you where power lies,” he asserted.
Fiscal Deficit Concerns
The Minority also challenged the fiscal deficit figures presented by the Finance Minister, arguing that the inclusion of GH¢49.2 billion in “unreleased claims” artificially inflated the deficit numbers.
“Sadly, if you took out the GH¢49.2 billion introduced in the fiscal framework, the overall fiscal deficit would be 3.4% and not the 7.6% announced by the Minister; whilst the primary balance on commitment would be a surplus of 0.6% and not the 3.1% the Minister churned out. Indeed, both the overall deficit and the primary balance would be better than the targets in the 2024 budget as well as the IMF targets for the next IMF Review to be conducted in April 2025,” Dr. Amin Adam said.
The Minority lamented the missed opportunity to present a more accurate and positive economic outlook, suggesting that such an approach could have boosted investor confidence instead of undermining it.
“I am wondering how well the international markets would have responded to the Budget if an accurate picture was put out. Ghana is the loser. A big opportunity missed because of unhealthy politics,” Dr. Adam stated.
IMF Review Risks
The Minority warned that the negative reactions from the international markets could worsen if the IMF Review in April 2025 fails due to the manipulated fiscal data.
“The reaction of the international markets will even be worse than this in the event that the IMF Review fails because of the manipulated data used by the government.
“In good conscience, we believe that the IMF will be fair to the Ghanaian people by holding on to the agreed method of computing fiscal data during the Review, as they did in all the previous Reviews. Otherwise, it is the Ghanaian people who will suffer and not the politicians,” he intimated.
Recalling past incidents, the Minority referenced Ghana’s previous $39 million fine by the IMF for misreporting economic data under the NDC government led by President Jerry John Rawlings.
“It appears we are on our way there under another NDC government. We wish to advise the Minister to tread cautiously in order not to derail our march to sustainable debt levels,” he said.
Legacy of Economic Stability
Despite the government’s misreporting, the Minority insisted that the strong economic foundation laid by the NPP remains evident in key indicators.
“The manipulation of the fiscal data notwithstanding, the strong health of the economy the NPP handed to the new NDC government continues to be vindicated by other economic indicators,” they noted,
They credited the significant reduction in the country’s debt-to-GDP ratio to the NPP’s economic strategies and skilled negotiations.
“The Debt-to-GDP ratio of 61.8% achieved in 2024 was not by accident. It was due to skilled negotiations and the implementation of a good debt strategy. The Minister could not even acknowledge this important development by the imminent absence of this ratio in his budget speech. Sad! Whether we like it or not, it is historic, and history indeed will be kind to the Nana Akufo-Addo Government,” Dr. Adam said.
