The Senator style, a traditional Nigerian attire, has become a staple in modern wedding fashion for men. This versatile outfit, characterized by its comfortable yet stylish look, has evolved over time, incorporating modern cuts, fabrics, and designs to suit various occasions, particularly weddings. Today, the latest trends in Men’s Senator styles blend cultural heritage with contemporary flair, offering grooms and guests alike stylish options for the big day.
In 2025, the focus is on elegance, refinement, and individuality. Traditional Senator outfits typically consist of a well-tailored top, often with unique stitching details, paired with matching pants or sometimes, a tailored kaftan. The latest styles feature intricate embroidery and beadwork, adding a touch of sophistication to the ensemble. These designs often incorporate the use of luxurious fabrics such as velvet, brocade, and fine cotton, creating a seamless fusion of comfort and elegance.
For weddings, bold colors such as royal blue, burgundy, emerald green, and gold are trending, offering a vibrant, eye-catching aesthetic. Many men are now opting for two-toned designs, where the top and bottom of the outfit are in contrasting shades to make a fashionable statement. The latest Senator suits also incorporate modern touches such as slim-fit cuts and mandarin collars, giving the outfit a sharp and polished look.
Accessories play a crucial role in enhancing the Senator style for weddings. Intricate caps or hats, often adorned with African-inspired beads or embroidery, add flair to the ensemble. Leather sandals or polished shoes in neutral shades complement the outfit, while wristwatches or rings add subtle refinement.
As wedding trends continue to evolve, the Senator style remains a symbol of cultural pride and timeless fashion. The latest innovations in men’s Senator styles ensure that grooms and guests can make a stylish, yet traditional, statement on the most important day of their lives.

It is unfair that Kevin Taylor visited Ghana and was not handed over to the court – Sampson Anyenini
News Hub Creator10h
Samson Lardy Anyenini, a private legal practitioner and host of Newsfile on Accra-based Joy News, has raised concerns about the effectiveness and fairness of the Judiciary System following the alleged visit of United States of America-based Ghanaian journalist Kevin Taylor to the country.
Kevin Taylor allegedly visited the country after the National Democratic Congress won the presidential and parliamentary elections. He is said to have been protected by high-level national security operatives throughout his stay in the country. In pictures which have gone viral on various social media platforms, the Chief Executive Officer of Loud Silence Media is captured with some of his team members in Ghana.
Kevin Taylor used his Loud Silence platforms to massively campaign for the National Democratic Congress. The outspoken journalist has stepped on the toes of many Ghanaians, especially leading members of the opposition New Patriotic Party.
Reacting to his alleged visit, Sampson Lardy Anyenini expressed shock that Kevin Taylor came into the country and was not handed to the appropriate state institutions for prosecution. According to him, Kevin Taylor has been slapped with many lawsuits for which a bench warrant has been issued by the court for his arrest.
Speaking on the Newsfile show, Sampson Anyenini said the development undermines the Judiciary System of the country, as it makes it appear as though some people are above the law.
He further lamented that such moves would empower the likes of Kevin Taylor to think that they could abuse the rights of other Ghanaian citizens so long as they are outside the country.

Mustapha Gbande, Deputy Director in charge of Operations at the Presidency, has reaffirmed the National Democratic Congress’s (NDC) commitment to prosecuting officials from the previous administration who are alleged to have misappropriated state resources.
Speaking to Citi News, Gbande stated: “I know that President Mahama is committed, and the party is solidly behind him to do that which Ghanaians have brought us to do, including prosecuting those who have stolen from the nation.”
He cautioned the New Patriotic Party (NPP) that no one would be above the law, warning that even former President Akufo-Addo could face house arrest if necessary.
Gbande further stressed that the NDC would abide by the legal framework set by the NPP and advised them not to protest when the process unfolds.
He revealed that in the coming days, corruption and dubious deals hidden within ministries, departments, and agencies would be exposed.
“In the next few days, you will see ministries, departments, agencies unearthing the rots, the crook deals that have been buried from the public and the media.”
Accusing the former government of large-scale corruption, Gbande asserted that legal action would be taken against those involved, including former President Akufo-Addo.
“I can say on authority that they have stolen from the nation. President Akufo-Addo has supervised his appointees to steal from the nation. You are going to see this, and those people will be taken on by the laws of the land. Nana Akufo-Addo himself will not be spared,” he declared.

The government intends to introduce mandatory military training for National Service personnel
Some final-year tertiary students and potential national service personnel have expressed mixed reactions to the government’s plans to introduce a short military training programme as part of the National Service Scheme (NSS).
This was after President John Dramani Mahama in his first State of the Nation Address (SONA), announced that the government would introduce a short military training programme for national service personnel to instill a sense of fitness and discipline among the youth.
Speaking to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) on their views on the training, some believed that the move was a step in the right direction, while others thought the programme would not be of value for personnel.
Mavis Anokye Mensah, a final-year student of the University of Media, Arts and Communications—Institute of Journalism (UNIMAC-IJ), said the military training would instill discipline, resilience, and a spirit of teamwork among the youth for nation-building.
She said, “For me, I think what the government is bringing on board is good, because the training will help us to learn basic training that will build our resilience to face any difficulties head-on.”
Ransford Dorgbor, another final-year student of UNIMAC-IJ, also expressed a similar opinion and said instilling discipline among the youth would significantly improve productivity and ultimately help to drive socio-economic growth.
He said, “I think this policy used to exist in our national service laws, and so I do not really have any issue with it being reintroduced.”
He, however, said the training should not be made compulsory for all national service personnel “because some people may have special health issues, and some may not also be able to endure.
Gideon Owusu, also a final-year student of UNIMAC-IJ, told the GNA that, “In my opinion, I do not see any value this training will add to my life so the government should not bring this as part of the NSS.”
The Minister of Finance, Cassiel Ato Forson, has emphasised that the current administration led by President John Dramani Mahama has zero debts to its name.
According to him, the only debts his government owes are those inherited from the previous administration.
He said the total treasury bill bids received by the government stand at GH¢89.7 billion.
Ato Forson wrote on his X page on February 28, 2025, “For the record, total T-Bill bids received by the Mahama government since January 10, 2025, stand at GH¢89.7 billion.”
He explained that “Of this amount, total T-Bill bids accepted—being rollovers of debt inherited by the Mahama government—stand at GH¢59.5 billion, while total T-Bill bids rejected by the government stand at GH¢30.2 billion.”
He clarified claims that his government had borrowed GH¢59 billion in less than 2 months of office.
“For the avoidance of doubt, net borrowing by the Mahama government, as of today, stands at GHS7.1 billion. This is primarily a buffer for servicing maturing debts accumulated by the NPP/Akufo-Addo/Bawumia government.
“It is instructive to note that actual debt accumulation under the Mahama government is virtually zero,” he said.
He also noted that his government’s management of the fiscal space has led to a drop in interest rates on treasury bills.
“The prudent public debt management measures adopted by the Mahama government have led to a record-high drop in the 91-day T-Bill rate, from 28.34% to 20.79% in just 50 days—an emphatic vote of confidence in the Ghanaian economy by the investor community.
“Please ignore the naysayers,” the minister noted.
Former Ghana League Clubs Association (GHALCA) chairman Kudjoe Fianoo has expressed his disappointment over the decision to keep Otto Addo as head coach of the Black Stars despite the team’s failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
For the first time in 20 years, Ghana will miss out on the continental tournament after finishing at the bottom of their qualifying group with just three points. The Black Stars endured a disappointing campaign, recording three losses and three draws in six matches.
Following the team’s poor performance, many fans and football stakeholders called for Otto Addo’s dismissal. However, the Ghana Football Association (GFA) has opted to retain the 49-year-old coach, who signed a three-year contract in March 2024 with an option for an additional two years.
Additionally, the GFA has strengthened the team’s backroom staff as they prepare for the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Fianoo, in an interview with Asempa FM, questioned the rationale behind keeping Addo in charge, arguing that a coaching change was necessary.
“We must qualify for the World Cup, but the coach must select the right players who will compete for the country because we all want to be at the tournament,” he told Asempa FM.
“Our challenges started in Cameroon, and the questions were, is the problem the coach or the players? We have seen changes after every tournament, and so the decision to retain Otto Addo after failing to qualify for AFCON is surprising to me, but I believe the right players should be selected in every game. Players who are ready to die for the team must be invited, and that must be the way to go,” he added.
Meanwhile, the Black Stars will resume their World Cup qualifying campaign with two crucial matches. They will host Chad in Accra on March 21 before traveling to Morocco to face Madagascar on March 24, 2025.
In a recent appearance on United Showbiz, the mother of Ghanaian musician Okomfo Kwadee has addressed what she describes as false narratives surrounding her son’s struggles. Her statements come at a time when discussions about the artist’s challenges have gained widespread attention in the media.
Kwadee, a highly respected figure in Ghana’s music industry, has faced both success and difficulties throughout his career. His unique style and storytelling ability earned him a dedicated fan base, but in recent years, his public appearances have declined due to personal struggles, including mental health concerns.
During the discussion, Kwadee’s mother directly responded to comments made by entertainment critic Hammer Nti, who suggested that the musician’s struggles were being exaggerated. She expressed her disappointment, stating that such claims fail to acknowledge the real hardships her son has endured.
Kwadee first gained recognition in the early 2000s, producing hits that resonated deeply with Ghanaians. However, his battles with mental health and substance abuse led to a period of inactivity, sparking various speculations in the media. His mother believes that the focus should be on providing support rather than sensationalizing his difficulties.
Hammer Nti’s remarks, implying that Kwadee’s condition was overstated for public sympathy, triggered backlash from fans and industry players who believe mental health should not be downplayed. Many took to social media to express solidarity with Kwadee and call for better awareness and support for artists facing similar challenges.
This debate has reignited conversations about mental health in Ghana’s entertainment industry. Kwadee’s mother’s plea serves as a reminder that behind every celebrity is a personal story that requires empathy and understanding rather than judgment.
What’s Happening In NPP As Andrew Asiamah Attends MP’s Orientation Despite Minority Boycott?
News Hub Creator1h
Hon. Andrew Amoako Asiamah, the independent Member of Parliament for Fomena, has attended the ongoing three-day orientation workshop for Members of the 9th parliament in Ho, Volta Region, despite a directive from the New Patriotic Party leadership instructing its MPs to boycott the event.
The NPP leadership, led by Minority Leader Alexander Kwabena Afenyo-Markin, had asked its MPs to stay away from the workshop, following concerns raised by the Minority Caucus over the venue and cost. The Minority claimed the choice of Ho was politically motivated and decided to boycott the event entirely.
However, Hon. Andrew Amoako Asiamah, who serves as the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, defied the NPP’s directive and participated in the orientation, signaling his independent stance on parliamentary affairs. His decision underscores a growing divide within the House, as some MPs prioritise parliamentary duties over party directives.
The workshop, organised to equip new and returning MPs with knowledge about parliamentary procedures and responsibilities, is ongoing at the Volta Serene Hotel in Ho.
Hon. Asiamah’s attendance suggests that some lawmakers believe the orientation is necessary, regardless of political disagreements.

Speaker of Parliament Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, on Saturday said the legislature, being the bedrock of democracy, should lead in the compilation of the next Constitution due to its representative composure and ability to make laws, compared to other arms of government.
He said the situation where the Executive and Judiciary towered above the Legislature in terms of nomenclature needed a second consideration, as modern democracies were turning to the reality.
Speaker Bagbin made these statements at the opening of the three-day orientation programme for Members of the 9th Parliament (MPs) in Ho.
The orientation programme was however, boycotted by the Minority side of Parliament who cited ‘high-cost’ implications for bringing the training programme out of the chamber.
The programme was organised by the Parliamentary Service and the Parliamentary Training Institute (PTI), to orient the legislators to discharge their mandate of legislation, deliberation, oversight, investigation and other regulatory functions effectively and efficiently.
Speaker Bagbin indicated that the heartbeat of democracy the world over was the legislature and it must be understood as the nerve-centre of the people to effectively position itself for the recognition.
He indicated that the next four years offered a critical opportunity for a turn-around towards making MPs more attractive than the other arms of government and urged members to rewrite a new story for themselves and live it.
The Speaker further urged the members to ensure that their presence in the house was positively felt and they themselves being impacted and not just becoming ‘a passing through,’ saying it should be a two-way scenario.
He admonished the MPs to focus, serve and sacrifice adding, “Don’t allow your political differences to enslave you, or be enslaved by our history.”
Speaker Bagbin paid glowing tribute to Dr Ibn Chambas, Madam Shirley Ayorkor Botchwey and Ms Hanna Tetteh, all former MPs, who were presently serving in various capacities globally, as dividend of hard work and tenacity of purpose.
He said new MPs had given him tremendous hope in their ability to learn fast and he was expectant of a blissful future for Parliament.
Mr. Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, the Clerk of Parliament, explained that MPs shouldered the critical responsibility of law-making, oversight representation, control of the purse, conflict and grievance resolution, amongst others that required profound understanding of parliamentary practice and procedure, the rules of engagement and the institutional framework within which a legislator operated.
He stated that while the task ahead was daunting, it was not unsurmountable, saying the dynamic interplay of constituents’ prescriptions for their role and formal roles as MPs as envisaged under the Constitution, would undoubtedly require a careful balance for their survival.
He said the Speaker had pledged his commitment towards ensuring that MPs were well equipped to deliver on their constitutional mandate, through the organisation of more of such training programmes, to help build their capacities.
Again, the Parliamentary Service remained steadfast in its commitment to providing MPs with the necessary procedural, legal technical and administrative support services required, to facilitate their work as MPs, he said.
Mr. Djietror said Parliament was a distinct institution with its own unique set of norms and rules of engagement and urged MPs to make continuous efforts to acquire knowledge, leveraging the experiences of seasoned members, to gain comprehensive understanding of the complexities and dynamics of their work.
Mr. Mahama Ayariga, the Majority Leader, said the orientation offered an opportunity to learn and reflect on the values that should guide members in the next four years, to ensure that Ghana maintained its admiration across the continent and beyond.
“For us to continue to maintain such high standards, remain in the same position, and maintain the envy of the rest of the world, we must build our skills, competencies, to strengthen our parliament, through the acquisition of the needed tools and ensuring their effective utilisation for our growth,” he said.
Topics to be explored at the training include the rights of the majority and minority caucus of parliament, conflict management, consensus building in a majoritarian legislature, the legislative process, private members bills, and the art of reviewing and analysing legislation.
Others involve mastering the rules of procedure, skills in advocacy, lobbying and negotiation for legislators and scrutinising the budget and economic policy of the government.

The assault, which claimed three lives, is believed to be linked to ongoing chieftaincy disputes between rival clans in the area.

The security is investigating the matter on the ground and I think we will get to the bottom of it and then possibly arrest the perpetrators,” he added.
Ibrahim Tia emphasized that while security agencies will address the criminal aspects of the attack, the chieftaincy dispute itself will be handled by the overlord and the regional house of chiefs.

Watch the latest episode of The Lowdown featuring NPP MP Patrick Yaw Boamah:
An analysis of government borrowing from the domestic market by the EIB Network has revealed that GH¢44.1 billion (nearly 75%) of the GH¢59.8 billion borrowed by the new government over the last seven weeks on the treasury market was used to service matured treasury bills issued in 2024.
The issue of government borrowings came to the fore once again when Dr. Gideon Boako, the Tano North MP and Economic Advisor to Former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, accused the Mahama-led government of borrowing in excess of GH¢20 billion within its first month in office.
Dr. Boako will further advance his claims accusing the government of reneging on its promise to reduce borrowing and drive rates down during the vetting of deputy finance minister designate, Thomas Ampem Nyarko.
“If you follow the trend within January alone, contrary to what we have been told by the government that we want to cut the borrowing and bring the rates down, this government in four weeks has borrowed GH¢38.5 billion,” Dr. Boako put to the nominee.
But despite Apem Nyarko’s challenge of the accuracy of the claims and subsequent assertions that briefings he received indicated that the new government had borrowed on net basis far lower than what put out, the minority in parliament including former deputy finance minister, Dr. Stephen Amoah have insisted the government has borrowed over GH¢50 billion in its first 50 days in office.
An analysis of treasury issuance data has confirmed that the actual fresh borrowing (net borrowing) by the government is GH¢15.7 billion. This is because GH¢44.1 billion was used to either roll over or pay matured treasury bills issued.
This effectively means that for every GH¢4 that the government raised in treasury bills, GH¢3 was used to roll over old debt and GH¢1 as new debt to finance government operations.
Further analysis of the GH¢15.7 billion in fresh borrowing reveals that this amount was anticipated in the mini-budget presented and approved by the 8th Parliament on January 3, 2025, before its expiration.
Due to Ghana’s exclusion from the international bond market over the last two years and the existing memorandum of understanding (MoU) under the IMF program, which prohibits central bank financing of government deficits, the government has had to rely heavily on domestic revenue—particularly treasury bills—to address budget shortfalls. (Government in the first quarter of 2024 had planned to raise close to GH¢20 billion in fresh securities to finance its activities).
In the first quarter of 2024, the government had planned to raise close to GH¢20 billion in fresh securities to finance its activities.
Similarly, the 2025 Expenditure in Advance of Appropriation projected a budget deficit of GH¢24.3 billion for the first quarter of 2025, of which GH¢20.2 billion was expected to come from the domestic market.
Based on this, it can be inferred that GH¢15.7 billion in fresh financing is still within the approved borrowing mark, and the government may require an additional GH¢5 billion to GH¢9 billion in the upcoming months to fulfill the country’s expenditure needs.
On the cost of borrowing on the treasury market, the government, under its new debt management strategy, has rejected billions in bids deemed overpriced, leading to a decline in interest rates across all three treasury bill maturities.
91-day and 182-day bills auctioned on February 21 sold at lower rates than similar bills issued 91 and 182 days prior.
The 364-day bills on the other hand, had all 6 tranches issued thus far, selling cheaper than they sold a year prior, experiencing a rapid fall from 30.15% to 27%.
With treasury bills remaining the government’s safest option for financing short-term needs, it remains to be seen whether the downward trend in borrowing costs can be sustained.
Black Stars captain Andre Ayew played a pivotal role in Le Havre’s dramatic 4-3 victory over Lens, scoring and assisting as his side twice came from behind to claim a crucial win in their battle for survival.
Lens made a flying start when Neil El Aynaoui converted a second-minute penalty, and their lead doubled midway through the first half as Ruben Aguilar volleyed home. However, Le Havre refused to buckle, and Ayew was at the heart of their response.
First, Issa Soumare halved the deficit with a long-range strike before turning provider moments later. His perfectly placed header found Ayew, who directed a brilliant effort into the net to stun the home crowd and level the contest before halftime.
The drama reached its peak in stoppage time when Casimir won a penalty, and Ahmed Hassan kept his cool from the spot to seal a stunning victory.
For Ayew, the performance underlined his enduring quality. The 34-year-old now has five league goals and two assists this season – an impressive return for a player whose experience and leadership could prove vital in Le Havre’s bid to beat the drop.
Former Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) president Amaju Pinnick has strongly criticized ex-England and Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher over his controversial remarks about the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
Carragher, now a Sky Sports pundit, sparked outrage while discussing Mohamed Salah’s chances of winning the Ballon d’Or.
The 47-year-old claimed that AFCON is not one of football’s major tournaments, a statement that has been widely condemned.
Pinnick, who is also an Executive Council member of the Confederation of African Football (CAF), dismissed Carragher’s comments as “myopic” and emphasized AFCON’s growing global stature.
Speaking on SuperSport’s Soccer Africa, Pinnick defended the tournament’s prestige and assured fans that the upcoming 2025 edition in Morocco will be even bigger than the recent event in the Ivory Coast.
“I think it is a very myopic opinion, and you can see the wave of attack because the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) is growing beyond the imagination of so many people, and he might be talking subjectively.”
The former NFF boss also highlighted George Weah’s historic Ballon d’Or win in 1995, noting that Liberia did not qualify for AFCON that year, yet Weah’s stellar performances for AC Milan earned him the prestigious award.
“When George Weah in 1995 won the Ballon d’Or, Liberia were nowhere close to the AFCON. He won the award due to his performance when he was with AC Milan, and you look at what Mohamed Salah has done this season. That is super iconic.
“The players are playing so well, and it is even beyond the coach. It is not about tactics, and that should be the spirit to resonate in Africa, and that should be the spirit among African players that we can do it. In the last AFCON, give it to CAF because solidarity about 60 million dollars went to Cote d’Ivoire, and that was the first time, and just wait and see what will happen in Morocco this year.”
He further stressed AFCON’s importance to African players, emphasizing the pride and prestige that come with winning the competition.
“African players know how important it is to win the Africa Cup of Nations, and the medal and trophy alone is something every player will cherish,” he added.
Meanwhile, Salah has been in phenomenal form, scoring 25 goals and providing 16 assists in the Premier League. With 182 goals to his name, he is just two away from breaking into the league’s all-time top five scorers.
The Egyptian star has also excelled in the Champions League, netting seven goals to help Liverpool top their group. His combined 51 goals and assists across Europe’s top five leagues currently lead all players, strengthening his case for the Ballon d’Or.
If Salah clinches the award, it will be a landmark moment for African football, further cementing his legacy as one of the continent’s greatest-ever players.

Mercy Smith, who lived just 25 years, has left behind a legacy that will be long remembered. Her infectious smile and vibrant spirit made her a beloved figure not just in the film industry but also among countless viewers who found joy and inspiration in her performances. As the news of her untimely passing spread, tributes poured in from all corners, reflecting the deep imprint she left on the hearts of many.
The funeral service was a well-attended gathering of family, friends, and colleagues from the entertainment industry, all coming together to celebrate the life and talent of a woman whose light shone so brightly. As the ceremony commenced, fond memories were shared, and laughter mingled with tears. Friends recounted working with Mercy—her kindness, laughter, and passion for her craft. Her spirit seemed to envelop the room, reminding everyone that her essence would forever remain alive in the stories she told on screen.
Among the most heart-wrenching moments was the sight of her husband, visibly shaken, as he struggled to find solace amid the overwhelming emotions. Dressed in a sharp suit but clearly bereaved, he held tightly onto a bouquet of white lilies—a flower symbolizing purity and innocence. In between choked sobs, he dedicated a heartfelt tribute to his late wife, acknowledging the profound love they shared. “You were my sunshine, Mercy,” he said, tears streaming down his cheeks, “and without you, the world seems so dark.”
The service culminated in a moving eulogy delivered by Mercy’s closest friend, who eloquently captured the brilliant spirit of the actress. “Mercy had an extraordinary gift for making everyone feel seen and heard. Her passion for acting ignited something special in all of us, and it is that flame we must carry forward in her honor,” she declared, prompting a round of applause and further tears from the gathered crowd.
As Mercy’s casket was carried out to the sounds of a melodious tribute song performed by her fellow actors, onlook.
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy received a standing ovation from Ukrainians, including war veterans, in Washington, DC, just hours after a tense meeting with former U.S. President Donald Trump. The reception highlighted the strong support Zelenskyy continues to receive from his compatriots amid ongoing struggles against Russia’s invasion.
The meeting between Zelenskyy and Trump, which reportedly took place behind closed doors, was marked by pointed discussions on U.S. support for Ukraine. Trump, who has been critical of continued American aid to Kyiv, has suggested that he would push for a negotiated settlement with Russia if re-elected. His stance has raised concerns among Ukrainian officials, who fear a potential shift in U.S. policy that could weaken their war effort.
Following the meeting, Zelenskyy attended a gathering in Washington, where he was met with an enthusiastic reception from Ukrainians living in the U.S., including military veterans who have fought on the front lines. As he entered the room, attendees rose to their feet, applauding and cheering for the Ukrainian leader, recognizing his resilience and leadership during one of the most challenging periods in the country’s history.
In his address, Zelenskyy acknowledged the sacrifices made by Ukrainian soldiers and thanked the diaspora for their continued support. He reassured them that Ukraine remains committed to defending its sovereignty, regardless of political changes in the U.S. “Our fight is not just for Ukraine but for freedom and democracy worldwide,” he stated.
The Ukrainian leader also underscored the importance of continued Western assistance, emphasizing that military aid and financial support from allies are crucial to resisting Russian aggression. He urged the global community to stand firm against Moscow, warning that any wavering could embolden Russian President Vladimir Putin.
For many Ukrainians in attendance, the moment was deeply emotional. Some war veterans expressed their admiration for Zelenskyy, praising his dedication to the country despite mounting international pressure. “He is standing strong for Ukraine, and we stand with him,” said one attendee, a former soldier who had served in the eastern front.
The ovation in Washington was a stark contrast to the uncertainty surrounding U.S. political support for Ukraine. With the 2024 U.S. presidential elections approaching, the future of American aid remains uncertain. However, Zelenskyy’s warm reception in Washington signaled that, at least among Ukrainians, his leadership remains widely respected and appreciated.
Fashion is not just about wearing clothes; it’s about expressing your personality, confidence, and creativity. If you’re looking to elevate your style game and turn heads, it’s essential to explore different styles, experiment with trends, and embrace bold choices that make you feel empowered. Here are some fashion ideas to take your wardrobe to the next level:
1. Play with Color and Patterns
One of the easiest ways to elevate your style is by incorporating vibrant colors and bold patterns. Mixing prints such as stripes with florals, or pairing contrasting hues like red and teal, can create a striking look that stands out. Don’t shy away from experimenting with colors you might normally avoid – bold, bright shades can be refreshing and exciting. If you’re not ready to dive into full-on patterns, you can start small by accessorizing with patterned scarves or bags.
2. Invest in Tailored Pieces
Proper fit is key to looking stylish and sophisticated. Invest in tailored pieces that flatter your body shape, such as well-fitted blazers, trousers, or pencil skirts. A perfectly tailored outfit makes all the difference and instantly enhances your overall appearance, giving you a more polished and refined look.
3. Layer with Statement Pieces
Layering is an excellent way to add dimension and style to your outfit. Whether it’s a longline blazer over a simple tee, a cozy cardigan layered with a stylish scarf, or a chic trench coat paired with boots, layering allows you to experiment with textures and silhouettes. A statement piece, like a bold leather jacket, oversized scarf, or vibrant kimono, can instantly elevate a basic outfit.
4. Accessorize Boldly
Accessories can completely transform your outfit. A statement necklace, oversized sunglasses, or a stylish hat can elevate even the simplest ensemble. Don’t be afraid to wear eye-catching pieces, such as chunky jewelry, metallic belts, or colorful shoes. The right accessories will bring personality and flair to your look, helping you stand out effortlessly.
5. Embrace High-Low Fashion
A high-low fashion approach, combining luxury pieces with affordable finds, is a fantastic way to elevate your style. Pair a designer handbag with a casual outfit, or mix a high-end blazer with jeans and sneakers. This not only allows you to make the most of your wardrobe but also creates a stylish and effortless vibe.
6. Go for Bold Footwear
Shoes are a powerful tool in fashion, and bold footwear can make a statement all on its own. Whether it’s a pair of vibrant red heels, edgy combat boots, or metallic sneakers, the right shoes can transform a basic outfit into something extraordinary.
7. Embrace the Power of Simplicity
Sometimes, less is more. Opt for minimalist designs with clean lines, neutral colors, and high-quality fabrics. A simple, well-fitted outfit can exude elegance and sophistication. Think a classic white shirt paired with tailored trousers or a little black dress with delicate accessories.
In conclusion, elevating your style game is about embracing creativity, confidence, and individuality. Don’t be afraid to take fashion risks, mix and match trends, and accessorize boldly. With these fashion ideas, you’ll not only turn heads but feel more confident and empowered in your personal style. The key is to wear what makes you feel good, because confidence is the ultimate accessory.

The situation has escalated, with reports suggesting that some miners have begun arming themselves in self-defense, raising concerns about potential violent clashes. The growing tension has prompted calls for immediate intervention by the Kyebi Police Command to restore calm and prevent bloodshed.
Kyebi is on edge following reports that land guards have allegedly stormed mining sites, sparking fear and unrest among residents and miners.
The Volta Regional Minister, James Gunu has declared a ‘state of emergency’ following extensive devastation caused by coastal erosion along southern Volta.
The sea, driven by high tides, continues to wash away communities along the coast in the Ketu South Municipality within the last 7 days.
Mr. Gunu described this occurrence as a threat to national security and called for emergency interventions to curb the destruction and ensure the safety and well-being of residents of the affected communities.
Mr. Gunu made the declaration at a brief meeting between members of the Volta Regional Security Council and officials of the National Disaster Manager Organization (NADMO) at Tokor in the Ketu South Municipality.
“I have actually made it a national security issue, houses have been washed away, cemeteries are gone and a lot of things and the psychological trauma that the people are going through including children and women calls for urgent action”, he stressed.
He said that an assessment revealed that communities in the affected areas are far below sea level and could be easily submerged during recurring high tides, hence some urgency must be attached to an immediate intervention.
“If nothing is done urgently and we allow the sea to cross the road continuously, the degree of devastation that we will see cannot be contained”, he warned.
Presenting some relief items to the victims, Mr. Gunu stressed that the government attaches prominence to curbing the destruction of the sea.
The relief items were presented to over 510 victims affected by the recent disaster in the enclave.
However, the residents appealed for the completion of the sea defence project, to protect their communities, instead of providing insufficient quantities of food.
“We don’t need rice or maize. All we need is for them to complete the sea defence so we can be safe and take care of ourselves”, said Makafui Atayi
A Ghana Gas shelter project where about 15 units of 2-bedroom apartments are to be constructed has stalled.

I Called The President On Phone But He Did Not Allow Me To Talk To Him – Archbishop Duncan Williams
News Hub Creator20h
Archbishop Nicholas Duncan Williams spoke about a phone call placed to talk with one of the former presidents of Ghana. According to Archbishop Nicholas Duncan Williams, he wanted to talk to the president at that time. However, another person picked up the call and said the president was busy and he would return the call soon.
” I waited for several hours and the call from the President did not come and I decided not to call again”. – Archbishop Nicholas Duncan Williams stated.
Archbishop Nicholas Duncan Williams added that the man who picked up the president’s phone at that time was so powerful that some people saw him as the president and went there too. ” I don’t want to mention names so, I will go straight to the point. I realized that one man was so powerful around the one of the past presidents and people rather go to him instead of the president. I called one day to speak to the president, but that man picked the call and told me the president was busy and they will attend to me later. The call never came. One day that man called me and said he is having issues with the president and that, he want me to intervene for him. I told him I will pray for him. We were having two presidents at that time and I don’t want Mahama to be a president who will be controlled”. – Archbishop Nicholas Duncan Williams stated.
Member of Parliament for Assin South and co-sponsor of the “Promotion of Proper Human Sexual Rights and Ghanaian Family Values Bill 2025,” Reverend John Ntim Fordjour, has cautioned Ghana’s clergy, urging them not to be swayed by President John Dramani Mahama’s recent statements on the controversial anti-LGBTQ+ legislation.
In a recent post on X, Rev. Ntim Fordjour accused the President of backtracking on his earlier promises to support the bill, predicting that President Mahama will not sponsor an anti-LGBTQ+ bill despite his public assurances.
“Eminent Clergy, please don’t fall for Mahama’s rhetoric. He WILL NOT sponsor any anti-LGBTQ bill – mark my words. If the President truly believes in the preservation of our cherished traditions, culture, and norms, he must not turn his back on the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill 2025, reintroduced into the 9th Parliament as a private members’ bill. What has changed? The same President who promised to assent to the bill is now running away from the same bill,” the MP wrote.
The bill, reintroduced as a private members’ initiative in the current 9th Parliament earlier this year, seeks to criminalize same-sex relationships, advocacy for LGBTQ+ rights, and related activities while reinforcing Ghanaian traditional values.
It follows the expiration of a similar bill passed in February 2024 under the previous Parliament, which lapsed when former President Nana Akufo-Addo declined to assent amid legal challenges and international pressure.
Rev. Ntim Fordjour’s criticism comes in response to President John Dramani Mahama’s evolving stance since taking office on January 7, 2025.
While the President, during his time in opposition, emphasized his support for the bill, he has, since his election, made comments suggesting a preference for embedding cultural values in education rather than rushing into legislation.
According to Rev. Ntim Fordjour and others, this shift raises doubts about the President’s commitment to the bill’s passage.
During his 2024 campaign, then-candidate Mahama consistently opposed LGBTQ+ rights, citing his Assemblies of God faith and Ghanaian culture. In November 2024, he told the BBC he would scrutinize the bill’s content if elected, hinting at potential support but stopping short of a firm commitment.
As President, however, his emphasis has shifted toward a government-sponsored bill, distancing himself from the private members’ version reintroduced in 2025.
Meanwhile, Rev. Ntim Fordjour, a key advocate for the legislation, has been vocal about its necessity to safeguard Ghanaian identity. The 2025 bill, like its predecessor, has garnered significant support among lawmakers and religious leaders but faces opposition from human rights groups and some international partners concerned about its implications for individual freedoms and Ghana’s global standing on human rights.
Eminent Clergy, please don’t fall for Mahama’s rhetoric. He WILL NOT sponsor any anti LGBTQ bill – mark my words. If the President truly believes in the preservation of our cherished traditions, culture and norms, he must not turn his back on the Human Sexual Rights and Family…

Watch the latest episode of The Lowdown featuring NPP MP Patrick Yaw Boamah:
The National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mpohor-Fiase Constituency, has cautioned the former Member of Parliament, John Abbam Aboah Sanie, to desist from commissioning projects in the district.
According to the party, on Thursday, 27th February and Friday, 28th February 2025, the former MP, Mpohor-Fiase Constituency, attempted to commission water projects in Mpohor Senior High School and Wiredukrom in the district, respectively.
“We expected Sanie to learn from this experience, but he has chosen to disregard the law and continue his actions,” Daniel Mawuli Kwofie Agbesi, the Constituency Secretary, for the NDC said in a statement copied to the GNA.
The statement said that as a former MP, he had no right to commission projects funded by the Central Government, MP’s Common Fund, District Assembly Common Fund, NGOs, or any other source.
“We urge Hon. Sanie to respect the law and the will of the people. If he desires peace in the district and with the constituents of Mpohor-Fiase, he should advise himself accordingly, as we will not spare him the next time he attempts to indulge in such unlawful acts again,” the statement reiterated.
The statement urged the Regional and District Police Commands to caution the former MP to cease the unlawful conduct.
Agricultural economist and economic policy expert, Peter Boamah Otokunor
Agricultural economist and economic policy expert Peter Boamah Otokunor has called for a shift in economic policies to prioritize sectors that directly impact the lives of Ghanaians, particularly agriculture.
Speaking on TV3’s Key Points, he challenged the notion that a 6.3% GDP growth rate accurately reflects economic progress.
“When designing economic policies to address the needs of the people, you must focus on where it matters most, where it directly affects them,” he said, arguing that macroeconomic figures often fail to capture real-life economic struggles.
Using his own experience as an example, Otokunor highlighted the difficulties businesses face due to high interest rates.
“Last year, I wanted to expand my poultry farm and needed some funding… I was looking at an interest rate of about 39%.
“Now, if I’m going to borrow at 39%, considering all the other business factors, how would that business survive?” he questioned.
Minority Leader of Parliament, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Minority in Parliament has boycotted a three-day orientation program being organised for members of the 9th Parliament.
Speaking at the opening ceremony of the ongoing retreat at the Volta Serene Hotel in Ho, the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, described the Minority’s reasons—cost concerns and lack of engagement in the venue selection process—as unacceptable.
“We lost a great opportunity because the turbulence of Parliament has once again shown itself. I only saw a WhatsApp message stating that our colleagues, our brothers and sisters of the New Patriotic Party, have opted out, giving a reason that is completely unacceptable,” he stated.
While the NPP Caucus has also cited political motivation as the reason for the venue selection, the Speaker denied any partisanship in the selection process.
“There is good reason why we choose venues for this; it is not partisan. There is always a search party, and they go around, discuss with various hospitality providers, look at the cost component, the facilities, their suitability, and the convenience of your movement—because there is pressure on you—and they score marks before we decide where to go.
“There is no partisanship at all. This time around, the Parliamentary Service followed the same process, and the final results were brought to the Speaker. Unless I have a very good reason why it shouldn’t be at that place, I simply give my approval,” he stated.
The Speaker stressed the importance of the workshop as a significant capacity-building program for MPs and Parliament staff to help them meet their demands.
Ahead of the adjournment of Parliament on Friday, February 28, 2025, the Minority raised concerns over the lack of consultation in the selection of the retreat venue, as well as cost-related issues.
“Our position is a very principled one. We are saying that the clerk and the management should consult leadership. That has been the practice. So, until that consultation is done, we cannot be part of this weekend retreat and let nobody take it with malice.
“It is a very principled stance, and that should be respected. Besides that point, we have also said—and it is important that our colleagues stay consistent with their earlier argument—that we all want to reduce costs. The last time, the argument was to reduce costs by having the event here. Mr. Speaker, what has changed?” the Minority Chief Whip, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, stated on the floor.
Meanwhile, the Second Deputy Speaker and Member of Parliament for Fomena, Andrew Amoako Asiamah, was sighted during the opening ceremony despite the boycott by his caucus.

Experienced Ghanaian coach Karim Zito has called on the Ghana Football Association (GFA) to implement stricter measures to enhance player development in the country.
Ghana, a four-time African champion, has increasingly relied on European-born players to bolster the senior national team in recent years. However, Zito, who currently coaches Dreams FC, believes this trend stems from the nation’s failure to establish a consistent and structured player development system.
In an interview, he warned that Ghana’s struggles on the international stage would persist unless a proper succession plan was put in place.
He identified the lack of continuity in player development as a major weakness holding back the country’s football progress.
“In the past, players progressed naturally through the ranks, but today, we dismantle teams after every competition and start scouting all over again,” Zito lamented in an interview with Graphic Sports.
“That’s our biggest problem—there is no consistency. If a player features for the under-17 team, he should automatically move to the under-19 side. You don’t just discard them and begin afresh,” he said.
The 64-year-old coach urged Ghana to adopt a structured model similar to top European football nations, where a clear pathway exists for young players to transition seamlessly into the senior team.
“What is troubling the Black Stars? Why are we always searching for new players?” Zito questioned.
“It’s because our junior teams are not producing top talent consistently, and that’s down to poor development structures. The media also plays a role; they keep attacking coaches instead of supporting long-term growth. We focus too much on instant results, but you can’t achieve success without first laying strong foundations,” he stressed.
Turning his attention to the current Black Stars, he posed a crucial question, “How many of our senior players today actually came through the junior ranks?”
Alexander Afenyo Markin, a prominent Member of Parliament (MP) for Effutu, recently opened up about his experiences during his time in opposition between 2013 and 2016, sharing insights into the issue of corruption and its broader societal implications. Speaking at an event, Markin noted that during his tenure in opposition, he had businessmen sharing documents with him, pushing him to speak out about corruption.
“I see the room packed,” Afenyo Markin began, acknowledging the presence of influential individuals such as professors, police chiefs, and key personalities in the audience. He continued, “I have had the benefit of reading what my respected brother and senior at the back have shared with you, and I would attempt to add my voice by way of review to some of the issues that you raised. Indeed he was spot on, particularly on legal and constitutional reforms.”
Markin went on to raise a critical question: “Do we often narrow the issue of corruption and limit it to the political class, or should we broaden it and look at it as part of the general life of all of us as a people?” He argued that corruption is not just a political issue but a societal one, affecting everyone, regardless of their position.
Reflecting on his time in opposition, Markin recalled how businessmen would approach him with documents related to corruption and encourage him to speak out about it on radio. However, as he continued to navigate the complexities of Accra’s political and business environment, he came to a realization: “When I understood how dark Accra was, I realized that those who don’t get their contract through are the ones who complain about corruption, but those who get theirs through go to church in white and thank God.”
Markin’s remarks also extended to former legislators and ministers, noting that some of them, despite their public personas, appeared far less wealthy than one would expect. “When you see them, you will ask if they were really in public life. Was this not the man who we thought was so rich? What happened to his money?” he questioned.
Ankara and lace fabrics are two of the most cherished and versatile materials in African fashion, known for their vibrant patterns, intricate designs, and cultural significance. When combined, they create stunning and sophisticated outfits that blend tradition with modern elegance. The fusion of Ankara and lace has become a trend in recent years, offering ladies the opportunity to embrace both bold prints and delicate textures in one ensemble. Here are some of the best Ankara and lace combination styles for ladies that you’ll absolutely love.
One of the most popular styles is the Ankara and lace peplum dress. This design typically features an Ankara skirt with a fitted lace top or vice versa. The peplum detail adds volume to the waist area, creating a flattering silhouette. Lace is often used on the sleeves or neckline, adding a touch of softness and sophistication to the bold patterns of the Ankara fabric. This combination makes the dress perfect for both casual and formal events, including weddings, parties, or cultural celebrations.
Another standout style is the Ankara and lace mermaid gown. The combination of Ankara’s vibrant prints and the elegance of lace makes this gown an exquisite choice for special occasions. The body-hugging nature of the mermaid gown highlights the curves, while lace accents on the bodice, neckline, or hemline add a delicate and refined touch. These gowns are often worn for weddings, evening galas, and other formal events, offering a perfect balance of modern style and cultural heritage.
The Ankara and lace two-piece set is another stylish and trendy option. This design combines an Ankara skirt or pants with a lace top. The lace top, often sheer or with intricate embroidery, contrasts beautifully with the bold and colorful Ankara print. This style is perfect for a chic and fashionable look while still maintaining cultural roots. The two-piece set can be dressed up with heels or dressed down for a more casual yet trendy appearance.
For a more regal look, the Ankara and lace A-line dress is a fabulous choice. The A-line dress offers a relaxed and flattering fit that works well for any body shape. Lace can be used for the sleeves, back panel, or hem of the dress, giving it a modern yet timeless appeal. Paired with statement jewelry and a sleek hairstyle, this combination exudes grace and sophistication.
The Ankara and lace blouse with skirt combination is another versatile style. The blouse, made of lace or featuring lace inserts, is often paired with an Ankara wrap skirt or high-waisted skirt. This combination offers a playful yet elegant vibe, ideal for both professional settings and social outings.
In conclusion, Ankara and lace combinations offer endless possibilities for ladies looking to express their unique sense of style. Whether you’re attending a wedding, a party, or just want to showcase your cultural pride, combining Ankara’s vibrant patterns with the delicate beauty of lace results in an outfit that is both eye-catching and elegant. These styles seamlessly fuse tradition with modern trends, allowing women to make a fashionable statement while staying connected to their African roots.
According to GhanaWeb, Deputy National Communications Director of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Jennifer Queen, has conveyed her appreciation to former President Akufo-Addo for not offering her any political appointment during his tenure.
The politician explained that avoiding such roles has spared her from the alleged harassment and legal challenges some NPP members are currently facing under the Mahama-led administration.
She claimed that being free from these pressures has allowed her to maintain peace of mind.
In an interview on Angel FM, Jennifer Queen remarked that not being placed on the board of any institution under Akufo-Addo’s government had shielded her from potential persecution.
She suggested that had she been given such a position, she might have been subjected to arrests and investigations, as has been the case with some other party members.
She expressed her gratitude to the former president for this decision.
“So, former President Akufo-Addo, I greet you this morning, and I am grateful to you for not appointing me as a board member of any institution,” she stated.
In recent weeks, several prominent members of the NPP have reportedly faced legal troubles, including arrests and invitations for questioning by the National Investigation Bureau (NIB) over corruption allegations.
One such incident involved Professor Christopher Ameyaw-Akumfi, the former Board Chairman of the Ghana Infrastructure Investment Fund (GIIF).
He was detained by the NIB concerning his alleged involvement in the failed $3 billion Accra Sky Train project.
Reports indicate that he authorized the release of $2 million to Africa Investor Holdings, the company managing the project, before feasibility studies were conducted.
The funds, according to reports, have not been recovered.
Additionally, former Minister of Railway Development, Joe Ghartey, was invited by the NIB for questioning over his role in the same project.
The Minority in Parliament has refused to attend a 3-day orientation programme for Members of the House ongoing at the Volta Serene Hotel in Ho.
According to the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, the Minority, through a notice, protested the cost of the event hence their withdrawal.
The cost of the programme was not immediately known.
Addressing the opening ceremony of the event, he said “their reason is that the cost component is too much, and they don’t want to be part of that.”
He found the decision unfortunate to the progress of the House, and Ghana’s democracy given the importance of the orientation which would prepare members, especially new entrants for the task ahead for the next four years.
Speaker Bagbin explained that the venue among other arrangements, was decided on and recommended by a search party following a comprehensive evaluation of several factors.
“There is a good reason why we choose venues for this, it’s not partisan -there is always a search party and they go around, discuss with the various hospitalities, look at the cost components, their facilities, their suitability, and the convenience of your movement because there are other pressures on you and there are score marks before we decide where to go”, he said.
He concluded that Volta Serene Hotel was selected after it met all the ideals needed to host such an important event which is geared towards protecting and developing the country’s democracy.
The 3-day orientation programme would provide the members of parliament with in-depth insights into their duties and responsibilities and equip them to be effective and successful members.
They will be provided training in parliamentary practices, lobbying, advocacy skills, and debating skills among others.

A former deputy Western Regional youth organizer of NDC and NDC activist in the Ellembelle District, Abizi Morkeh has reminded His Excellency, President John Dramani Mahama to honour his campaign promise by appointing an Nzema as the new Chief Executive Officer (CEO) to manage the Ghana National Gas Company (GNGC) at Atuabo in the Ellembelle District.
According to him, the situation at Ghana Gas does not warrant a technocrat or engineer as the CEO.
Speaking on West-End Radio morning show at Ambainu on the need for President Mahama to appoint a CEO of Ghana Gas, he said the ability to manage and ensure efficiency at the operations of the national asset, he said though the immediate past CEO of Ghana Gas, Dr Ben Asante was an engineer, yet he cannot be compared to Dr. George Sipa Yankey who was his predecessor in terms of how the latter managed the Company.
“If it is engineer that will be used as a yardstick for appointment as CEO, then Dr Ben Asante is an internationally recognized engineer but could not manage Ghana Gas like Dr George Sipa Yankey did though not an engineer.
He said if you compare Dr. Ben Asante to the pedigree of Dr Robert Kofi Lartey as a CEO, Dr. Ben Asante ranks higher but could not manage Ghana Gas even more than Dr. George Sipa Yankey who is not an engineer left a better Ghana Gas than Dr. Ben Asante.
“So this time round,it is not a matter of being an engineer, it is about someone who can manage,an administrator who should manage the asset. There are technocrats at Ghana Gas who should report to the CEO on what is going on for the CEO to manage the facility”.
He, therefore took the opportunity to appeal to President John Mahama to appoint an Nzema as Ghana Gas company.
“We Nzemas are keepable of managing the Ghana Gas company, President Mahama should not make a staff of the company as the CEO because that will not ensure transparency and accountability, someone who is not a staff of the company can have courage to reset the company in order to ensure accountability and transparency”, he urged.
Radio personality Hammer Nti has debunked claims that he does not seek the well-being of Okomfo Kwadee.
He says pictures on the internet are proof enough of how Kwadee was recovering under his care until his family came in.
Hammer Nti indicated that he is not Kwadee’s manager but a friend who loves him and decided to ensure that he regains his sanity.
The radio personality is shocked that after all that he did to ensure that Kwadee lives the best of life, his mother has not appreciated his efforts.
“You can attest to the fact that when I was taking care of Kwadee, he looked good. Check from photos online, and you’ll know that he was better under my care than he currently is.
“I am officially not Kwadee’s manager, but I decided to take care of him because I love him. I’ve been with him since 2019 because he is a brother and a friend I love so much,” he said on Accra-based UTV.

Okomfo Kwadee’s mother was a guest on United Showbiz
Mother of musician Okomfo Kwadee has debunked reports suggesting that she has a hand in her son’s mental health challenges.
She says that the narrative is being pushed by Hammer Nti, who was taking care of the musician.
The woman explains that she had always wanted Kwadee to be handled by Lord Kenya, who went through a similar ordeal and came out successful.
However, Hammer Nti did not want to use that route due to his interest.
“I met Lord Kenya, and he told me that Kwadee was his friend. He asked if Kwadee went naked, and I said no. Then Lord Kenya told me that his father had suffered, and his wife had too. He told me that at one point, he wanted to beat his father.
“He said it was when he worked hard, but people were taking the money he got from the work. He assured me that my son would be fine and prayed for me. I told Hammer that I wanted Lord Kenya to handle my son, but he got angry, so I rescinded my decision and allowed him to do his work.
“I’ve never been against people helping my son. I can never do that, and that narrative should not be made to fester. If we had given him to Lord Kenya and my son had regained his sanity and become like Lord Kenya, it would have been a good thing, but because of his personal interest, Hammer did not want that. They always say that his mother is behind his problems, but that is not the truth. I won’t do that to my son,” she said.
Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has strongly criticised economist Dr. George Domfeh for what he describes as an analysis that ignores the everyday struggles of Ghanaians.
Speaking on TV3’s KeyPoints, Kpebu argued that economic growth figures mean little if they do not translate into real improvements in people’s lives.
“Dr. Domfeh, if you don’t analyse and put the citizen at the center—front and center—your analysis is going nowhere,” Kpebu stated.
“The Constitution is clear: it’s not just about economic growth but about securing the maximum welfare, freedom, and happiness of every Ghanaian,” he said.
His comments came in response to Dr. Domfeh’s economic assessment, which, while acknowledging economic hardships, quickly shifted focus to macroeconomic indicators.
Kpebu found this approach unacceptable, questioning the relevance of economic growth if it fails to create jobs.
“You admit people are suffering but quickly move on to macroeconomic figures. What’s the use of economic growth if it’s jobless growth?” he asked.
Kpebu also challenged Dr. Domfeh’s omission of key facts regarding Ghana’s history with the International Monetary Fund (IMF).
He emphasised that economic discussions must be grounded in reality, pointing out inconsistencies in past and present policies.
“From John Mahama’s time, Ghana was under an IMF program. Did we receive IMF money or not? Did we extend the IMF program or not? These are facts, yet you left them out of your analysis,” he stated.
Using real-life examples, Kpebu highlighted the increasing cost of living, stressing that economic growth must be felt at the grassroots level.
“Kenkey is between five and seven cedis, and Koko is no less than three cedis. The prices of basic goods have skyrocketed, yet you talk about economic growth as though that’s all that matters. This is why your analysis falls short.”
Agricultural economist and economic policy expert, Peter Boamah Otokunor
Agricultural economist and economic policy expert, Peter Boamah Otokunor, has called for a shift in economic policies to prioritize sectors that directly impact the lives of Ghanaians, particularly agriculture.
Speaking on TV3’s Keypoints, he challenged the narrative that a 6.3% GDP growth rate is a true reflection of economic progress.
“When you want to design your economic policy to respond to the needs of the people, you look at where it matters most, where it affects the people most,” he said, arguing that macroeconomic figures often paint an incomplete picture of real-life economic struggles.
Using his own experience as an example, Otokunor revealed the difficulties faced by businesses due to high interest rates.
“Last year, I wanted to expand my poultry farm, and I needed some funding… I was looking at an interest rate of about 39%.
“Now, if I’m going to borrow at 39%, considering all the other business factors, how would that business survive?” he questioned.
The maintenance project included the offshore pipeline cleaning across multiple locations
The West African Gas Pipeline Company (WAPCo) has announced the safe and successful completion of its critical pipeline maintenance activities and the resumption of gas transportation services in Ghana, Togo, and Benin.
The maintenance project included offshore pipeline cleaning and inspection, subsea valve replacements, and other essential works across multiple locations in Ghana, Togo, Benin, and Nigeria.
The project, which spanned four weeks, involved temporarily shutting down the pipeline laterals into Cotonou, Benin, Lomé, Togo and Tema, Ghana.
A statement signed by Dr Isaac Adjei Doku, General Manager, Corporate Affairs of WAPCo, and copied to the Ghana News Agency said despite the complexities and challenges, the project was completed ahead of schedule with remarkable efficiency and safety.
Madam Michelle Burkett, WAPCo’s Managing Director, praised the team for their outstanding effort, saying, “I want to congratulate every member of our team for their dedication and professionalism.
“This was a complex project, and your hard work, even in the face of challenges, made it a success.”
She said while some countries experienced temporary disruptions due to the shutdown of the laterals, the team worked tirelessly to ensure that the maintenance work was carried out swiftly and safely.
“The results speak for themselves, and I could not be prouder of what we have achieved,” she added.
Madam Burkett expressed the company’s gratitude to the governments of Benin, Ghana, Nigeria, and Togo for their continued support while also appreciating the efforts of the maritime and regulatory authorities in these countries.
She said: “We also express our appreciation to our customers, shippers, gas off-takers, host communities, shareholders, and all other stakeholders for their valuable collaboration and contributions to the success of the project.”
The statement noted that WAPCo remained committed to providing high-quality service and maintaining the highest safety standards for efficiency.
Prophet Kumchacha has begged President John Dramani Mahama to appoint him a part of his government.
Kumchacha wants to be in charge of a ministry to manage Ghanaian prophets and pastors working against God’s work.
Kumchacha, regardless of the president’s pledge to reduce the number of ministries and existence of the religious affairs ministry, wants a ministry created for him to check false prophets, among others.
According to Kumchacha, he has worked hard for the John Dramani Mahama brand and needs to be appreciated for the work he did before the 2024 elections.
“I’ve worked hard for the past four years to ensure that John Dramani Mahama becomes the president. The late nights and my continuous appearance on TV to propagate his works are testaments to the fact that I need an elevation.
“I sacrificed my life for the project, and everyone is aware of the things I did to ensure that he is voted back to power. He can create a ministry for me to handle all prophets in the country. I have realized that some prophets are taking advantage of Ghanaians and are engaging in things that are not morally right.
“I need a ministry to handle these prophets. I am very serious about this plea to the president to hear my cry. An appointment into the government will make my soul very happy,” he stated on the Saturday, March 1, 2025 edition of United Showbiz.
Accra, Feb. 28, GNA – Evangelist Dag Heward-Mills, founder of Lighthouse Chapel International, met with Prime Minister Jeremiah Manele during his visit to the Solomon Islands for the Healing Jesus Campaign and Pastors’ Conference.
He was invited to speak at the Prime Minister’s Senior Staff Morning Devotion, a daily gathering attended by key government officials.
A statement shared with the GNA said that the Prime Minister, who valued the importance of faith in leadership, warmly welcomed the Evangelist Heward-Mills on behalf of the Solomon Islands.
During their discussion, Evangelist Heward-Mills elaborated on the wisdom of God, emphasizing its necessity for leadership, victory, and nation-building.
Quoting Proverbs 4:7, he said, “Wisdom is the principal thing; therefore, get wisdom: and with all thy getting, get understanding.”
He explained that true wisdom, found in the Word of God, was the foundation for effective leadership and lasting success.
Evangelist Heward-Mills said that a nation could be built on the wisdom of the Word of God rather than relying solely on human understanding.
He also emphasised that God’s wisdom was far superior to human wisdom and remained the key to strong governance and enduring leadership.
Citing Psalm 119:98, he said, “Thou through thy commandments hast made me wiser than mine enemies.”
The statement said the meeting highlighted the importance of faith-based initiatives in strengthening communities and fostering hope.
Prime Minister Manele expressed his support for extending the crusade to other islands, recognizing the role of faith in shaping the nation’s future.
The statement said Evangelist Heward-Mills would move to Congo Brazzaville for three crusades after the campaign in Solomon Islands.

President John Dramani Mahama says his government will implement the Affirmative Action Act of 2024 (Act 1121) to ensure gender equity across all spheres of national life.
He said the Ministry of Gender, Children, and Social Protection was actively collaborating with relevant stakeholders to operationalise the Act, including attaining the 30 per cent target quota for women in political appointments.
President Mahama was delivering his first State of the Nation Address (SONA) as a non-conservative President before Parliament on Thursday.
“I am pleased to report that women currently make up 23.21 per cent of all appointments, and we are diligently working toward reaching the target outlined in Act 1121,” he added.
President Mahama said he would engage all stakeholders, including development partners and civil society organisations, to prioritise gender equality, equity, and social justice.
“We will establish strong social protection mechanisms and enhance legal safeguards for women, girls, and other vulnerable groups,” he added.
The initiatives towards achieving that, he said, included enacting comprehensive laws and policies designed to dismantle harmful social norms, enhancing access to crucial resources and opportunities, particularly for young women and reduction of overall vulnerability within the society.
President Mahama commended the Speaker of Parliament, Mr Alban Sumana Kingsford Bagbin, for his unwavering support and guidance, which were instrumental in passing the Affirmative Action Act, 2024 (Act 1121), during the Eighth Parliament of the Fourth Republic.
“I am concerned about achieving gender balance, especially at the local government level. Very few women muster the courage to apply for the position of MMDCE.
“The few who do are edged out on very flimsy and parochial grounds. I hope that the National Constitution Review Conference will clear the pathway for the election of DCEs. The Gender Ministry will have the obligation to encourage and support more women to apply for these positions,” he said.
