Nigerian skit maker cum Nollywood actor, Debo Adedayo, better known as Mr Macaroni, has opened up about being a victim of a scam and a failed investment.
Naija News reports that Macaroni, in a lengthy post via his X handle on Thursday, admitted that his financial recklessness and generosity negatively impacted his financial stability.

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) has explained that MTN Ghana has not been licensed to facilitate cross-border transactions with MTN Nigeria.
The Central Bank categorically stated that MobileMoney Limited, the operator of MTN MoMo, has not received any authorisation to conduct such transactions.
Clarifying ongoing developments in the fintech space, the BoG explained that it had granted Brij Fintech Ghana, a licensed Payment Service Provider (PSP), approval to pilot BrijX—a B2B Currency Swap Platform—under its regulatory sandbox program.
In a statement, the Bank of Ghana said while MTN MoMo is not licensed for cross-border transactions, the BrijX pilot represents a regulated initiativeaimed at transforming digital payments within the region.
“Bank of Ghana has taken note of media publications suggesting that MTN Ghana has been licensed to conduct cross-border transactions with MTN in Nigeria. The Bank hereby states that MobileMoney Limited, providers of MoMo from MTN, has not been licensed or authorised to conduct cross-border transactions”, the release said.
BrijX is designed to function as a digital marketplace, enabling direct currency swaps between the Ghanaian Cedi and the Nigerian Naira without requiring forex transactions or physical fund transfers across borders.
The platform collaborates with banks, mobile money operators, and licensed PSPs to facilitate seamless currency exchanges.
The BoG stressed that the BrijX pilot, which commenced live testing in February 2025, involves MTN MoMo customers and will soon expand to G-Money users.
However, the pilot operates under strict regulatory controls, including, transaction limits, restrictions on the number of participating customers, a defined testing period and full compliance with Anti-Money Laundering (AML) and Know Your Customer (KYC) regulations
The BoG said it will at the conclusion of the pilot, assess the results to determine whether the BrijX model aligns with Ghana’s financial regulatory framework and potential future policies.
The bank reaffirmed its commitment to safe, efficient, and affordable cross-border payment solutions, particularly within Africa.
The BoG assured stakeholders that it will continue to explore innovative regulatory frameworks to enhance financial services while maintaining strong consumer protection measures.

Mika Turkson, the daughter of the landlord of the residence that has been transformed into the popular ‘Chez Toi’ lounge, has taken to social media to disclose how their family home was turned into a night club and lounge without their knowledge.
She explained that after her mother renovated the house with her retirement funds and rented it out for residential purposes in 2020, the tenant turned it into a commercial spot.
According to Mika, the house, which had been rented out since the COVID-19 era, was eventually converted into an open nightclub with private rooms during the night and a bar/lounge during the day.
She revealed that a swimming pool was dug, an outdoor kitchen was established, and “Cubanas” were set up, all without their knowledge or approval.
Mika said, what makes the situation even worse is that the tenant, while running ads and using social media influencers to popularise the lounge, had stopped paying rent.
‘Chez Toi’ is so well-known that celebrities including Stonebwoy were once invited to perform at the birthday party of the lounge CEO’s wife.
Black Sherif once hosted his birthday party there, popular fashion designer Elikem Kumordzie held an event at the venue, and Shatta Wale attended several events there as well.
Mika emphasised that her mother, who lives abroad, never intended for the house to be used for such purposes.
Narrating the full story of how it all began, she vented out on TikTok, “Back in 2020, my mum renovated this house throughout the summer after we came out of lockdown. She invested a lot, including her retirement savings. She transformed the old-school version into something more modern before giving it to the tenant.”
She explained how all the troubles began, and how certain ‘red flags’ about the tenant they initially ignored, eventually escalated into something they never expected.
“In 2021, things began to change. He told us he needed a residential space to host his business partners when they came to town. He didn’t want to put them in a hotel, so we understood that he rented the house to accommodate his business associates. We had no idea that his intention was to turn it into a commercial venture. If we had known, the rent would have been much higher.”
“First, he repainted the whole place without our knowledge and built additional structures. We confronted him several times, but he always made it seem like he was helping us. At one point, in order for my mum to get her rent and return on investment, we allowed some leeway, which I now regret. But he went overboard, and it got to a point where his security wouldn’t allow us into the compound,” she stated.
When asked how they eventually discovered what had been going on at the residence, she said the neighbours informed them.
Mika also recalled an interesting instance when her friend invited her out for drinks, and while on their way there, the address unexpectedly led them to her mother’s house.
“The neighbours told us about the noise complaints. One time, a friend invited me for drinks, and lo and behold, the address led us straight to my mum’s house.”
Narrating further, she said the situation further escalated to the point where they had to involve the police and eventually take the tenant to court, which led to his eviction.
She added that the ordeal has been a painful experience for her family, as they are still processing the betrayal and the damage done to their property.

The Minority Leader, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin, has raised concerns over what he describes as an attempt by the current National Democratic Congress (NDC) government to frustrate and intimidate former appointees of the erstwhile Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo administration.
Speaking at a press conference organized by his caucus on Thursday, March 20, 2025, the Minority Leader accused the government of using party elements recruited into National Security to harass former New Patriotic Party (NPP) appointees.
According to him, the operatives, whom he described as “hungry,” engaged in acts of thievery and robbery during their recent raids on the private residences of their targets.
“At dawn yesterday, specifically at 5 a.m., Mr. Richard Jakpa was at it again. This time, he led armed men to the residence of Dr. Addison, the former Governor of the Central Bank.
“According to Jakpa, he had a permit to search the residence of Dr. Addison at his Roman Ridge home. When Dr. Addison inquired further, Jakpa told him they were looking for a vault, which they believed contained cash.
“They forced their way in, overpowered the security, and entered his premises. In fact, at the end of their raid, they could not find anything. Unfortunately for the Governor, some ten thousand cedis on his bed could not be found. Some of these hungry party foot soldiers they use—who parade themselves as National Security operatives—are perhaps not being paid, and so use this opportunity to steal.
“The Governor’s wife’s earrings and necklaces were also missing; they couldn’t be found. In other words, those operatives stole these earrings and necklaces,” he stated while condemning the reported raid at the residence of the former Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr. Ernest Addison.
The Minority Leader called on President John Dramani Mahama to end the attacks on former appointees of the previous government and not risk creating a negative legacy for himself.
Ghana has recently witnessed a series of controversial security raids targeting the residences of high-profile former appointees of the Nana Akufo-Addo administration, which ended in January 2025 following the NDC’s victory in the December 2024 elections.
The first notable raid occurred on February 11, 2025, when armed individuals, some in military uniforms, stormed the Cantonments home of former Minister of Finance Ken Ofori-Atta while he was reportedly abroad for medical treatment.
The motive remains unclear, though speculation initially pointed to the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), which later denied involvement. CCTV footage identified the raid’s leader as Richard Jakpa, a former military officer and known NDC member.
Ofori-Atta, declared wanted by the OSP in early February for alleged corruption, had his status lifted on February 18 after pledging to return voluntarily. He has since sued security operatives for trespass and breach of privacy.
The second incident took place on March 19, 2025, when approximately 20 armed men, led by Richard Jakpa—identified as the Director of Special Operations at the National Security Secretariat—raided the Roman Ridge residence of former Bank of Ghana Governor Dr. Ernest Addison in Accra.
Dr. Addison, who served from 2017 to 2025 and managed financial sector reforms, was home during the dawn operation. The team, some in balaclavas and wielding AK-47s, is said to have disabled CCTV systems and demanded access to a supposed vault, which Addison denied existed.
These raids follow Mahama’s January 2025 inauguration and his establishment of the “Operation Recover All Loot” committee to probe corruption allegations from the prior administration.
The Deputy Presidential Spokesperson, Shamima Muslim, has defended the actions as part of ongoing investigations into former officials.

Ghana and Barbados are set to strengthen bilateral ties in the area of labour as both countries seek solutions to their workforce challenges. This was the focus of discussions when H.E. Juliette Bynoe-Sutherland, Commissioner of Barbados, paid a courtesy call on Dr. Abdul-Rashid Hassan Pelpuo, Minister of Labour, Jobs, and Employment, in Accra.
The meeting provided an opportunity to explore how Ghana’s high graduate unemployment and Barbados’ labour shortages could be addressed through a labour market exchange program. Dr. Pelpuo emphasized the need for structured strategies to facilitate the movement of skilled Ghanaian workers to Barbados, where industries such as healthcare, education, engineering, and economics require additional expertise.
“This collaboration will not only provide jobs for Ghanaians but also help Barbados address critical workforce gaps. A well-planned labour exchange will benefit both countries, ensuring fair and structured employment opportunities,” Dr. Pelpuo stated.
He further expressed Ghana’s readiness to formalize the partnership through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) and a Bilateral Agreement, aligning with President John Dramani Mahama’s commitment to tackling labour challenges.
The Barbadian Commissioner welcomed the proposal, highlighting that the existing Ghana-Barbados relations, including the export of Ghanaian nurses in 2019, serve as a strong foundation for expanding cooperation. She identified key areas for collaboration, including the demand for medical specialists, economists, statisticians, educators, engineers, and renewable energy experts.
Dr. Pelpuo also revealed plans to review Ghana’s Labour Act to address modern workforce challenges, particularly the impact of Artificial Intelligence and technology on employment.
The meeting concluded on a positive note, with both parties committing to deepening collaboration in the coming months. A formal agreement is expected to be signed soon, marking a new chapter in Ghana-Barbados labour relations.
Rev. Osei Kofi is a former player of the Black Stars
Former owners of Spanish side Leganés FC, Victoria Pavón and Felipe Moreno, have invited Ghanaian legend Rev. Osei Kofi to Spain to honor him with a friendly match between their new club and Real Madrid.
The former Black Stars player was part of the team that played against Real Madrid in 1962 at the Accra Sports Stadium.
Victoria Pavón and Felipe Moreno visited Ghana in 2021 to establish an academy, and upon learning about the historic match, sought further evidence from the Real Madrid archives.
Rev. Kofi revealed that the invitation came after Victoria Pavón and Felipe Moreno confirmed that he indeed played a part in the game.
While preparing to board a flight to Spain, Rev. Kofi recounted details of the match during an interview, highlighting the prominent players Real Madrid fielded that day and sharing how he contributed to a crucial goal.
“In 1962, the Black Stars played a thrilling 3-3 draw against Real Madrid. Before the match, we were promised a grand party if we managed to avoid conceding 10 goals. Legends like Ferenc Puskás and Alfredo Di Stéfano were on the pitch that day.
“When I was subbed in during the second half with the score at 2-2, I made a dribble and lofted a pass to Edward Acquah, who finished brilliantly to put us 3-2 ahead,” he said.
He further elaborated on how Leganés officials decided to honor him after confirming his role in the match.
“About four years ago, some officials from Leganés visited Ghana. I took them to the Accra Sports Stadium and shared the story of our match against Real Madrid at that very venue.
“At first, they didn’t believe me, until they looked it up themselves. Once they confirmed it, they even sent me a letter to apologize. After several discussions, they’ve now decided to honor me with a special match, where their new team will face Real Madrid,” he added.

The Minority Leader, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has bluntly told the Roads Minister Kwame Agbodza to leave parliament and focus on his actual work.
According to Afenyo Markin, Kwame Agbodza needs to be at the ministry to pay contractors and construct roads.
He further asserted that the minister’s presence in parliament is not necessary and that he has more pressing tasks to attend to.

Ghanaian media personality Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah has been released after his sudden arrest by security operatives sparked widespread outrage among opposition figures and supporters.
Okatakyie, the host of the popular social media show ‘For the Records’, was picked up on Wednesday, March 19, under unclear circumstances, leading to strong condemnation from the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) and media freedom advocates.
The NPP described the arrest as an attack on democracy and press freedom, with the party’s General Secretary, Justin Frimpong Kodua, demanding his immediate release.
“The arrest of Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah by the NDC government is a dangerous attack on democracy and freedom of speech! Ghana must not descend into tyranny,” Kodua said.
The Minority leader in Parliament and MP for Effutu, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, also weighed in, calling for tolerance and warning against intimidation of government critics.
“It started with Abronye. Now it’s Okatakyie Afrifa. The NDC government must be tolerant. Using State Security to intimidate opponents is not good for our democracy!” he noted.
Following intense public pressure and an outpouring on social media of outraged comments by ordinary Ghanaians calling for his freedom, Afrifa-Mensah has now been released.

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed Dr Jacob Paarechuga Anankware, a renowned entomophagical entomologist as the Deputy Chief Executive Officer of the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA).
A statement issued by his office and copied to the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani said Dr Anankware is a Senior Lecturer and Head of Department of Horticulture and Crop Production as well as the Vice Dean of students of the University of Energy and Natural Resources (UENR).
His profile
Dr Anankware is a Ghanaian and a pioneer entomophagical entomologist in Africa, having obtained a PhD in Entomology from Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in November, 2016.
Prior to his appointment, Dr Anankware began a teaching, research and practice career at the UENR about a decade ago.
He has developed an active and engaged International academic and scholarly career, holding post-doctoral scholarly positions at the University of Michigan, and New York University School of Medicine, USA, focusing on Research Ethics and Integrity in 2020.
Dr Anankware is a 2017 Mandela Washington Fellow at the Purdue University, USA, and Humboldt Scholar at the Humboldt University in Germany in 2018.
He has also successfully won and led several projects grants including a recent $2 million DANIDA funded project on the nexus of agriculture, nutrition and infectious diseases, and how edible insects can contribute to mitigating the injuriousness caused by iron-deficiency anaemia. He has over 44 publications in peer reviewed journals to his credit.
Prior to joining UENR, Dr Anankware worked as a consultant at Vestergaard Frandsen (Noguchi Memorial Institute for Medical Research), Legon from 2012 to 2013 during which he established the largest insectary in Ghana from scratch; developed rearing protocols for major storage pests and conducted bioassays for the popular deltamethrin-impregnated ZeroFly grain storage bag.
He also worked as Deputy Country Director of Fish for Africa; an International NGO specialised in rearing insects for protein in feed.
As part of his role, Dr Anankware joined a team of International Research scientists to successfully bid for US$3M from the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation and the Swiss National Science Foundation for a research project on global issues for development.
Under the auspices of the International NGO Aspire Food Group, which focused on rearing edible insects for human consumption, Dr Anankware was engaged as the Ghana Country Director and helped to build Aspire Food Group from scratch with a $1million grant from the Bill Clinton Global Initiative and the Hult Prize.
Dr Anankware had his secondary education at the Navrongo Secondary School (Navasco) from 2001-2004 and holds Bachelor of Science in Applied Biology from the University for Development Studies (UDS) from 2005-2009.
He also pursued MPhil in Entomology at the University of Ghana, Legon from 2010-2012 during which he won a $13,500.00 grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates foundation to complete his research project in Entomology.
Dr Anankware is the Founder and CEO of AnePaare Farms a global player in entomophagy (eating of insects) and he is married with three children.

Prof. Peter Quartey
The Executive Director of the Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research (ISSER), Prof. Peter Quartey, has called on the government to rescind its decision to scrap the betting tax and rather, use the revenue generated to fund initiatives for the youth.
Prof. Quartey who made the call during the Post-2025 Budget Statement Review in Accra said betting is a form of income and should therefore be taxed.
“People want to turn betting into a way of work, like employment. No, tax it and use the money to develop something for the young ones. This is not sustainable,” he said.
He also asked why road tolls that earned the country less could be substituted with betting that generate more revenue for the government.
“We are told road tolls raked in GH₵72 million, and betting tax is around GH₵140 million. Now, we want to introduce road tolls, which generate less, and scrap betting tax, which brings in more. I know the young ones won’t be happy with me, but for once, I am against this.
“With betting, you’ve earned income, and you are paying something, yet you say it should be free? And because of votes and populism, we allow this,” he added.

The Minister of the Interior, Alhaji Mohammed Mubarak Muntaka, has revealed that the attempted arrest of New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament (MP) for Akwatia in the Eastern Region, Ernest Kumi, was intended to enforce a bench warrant issued by the High Court for contempt.
The warrant, dated February 19, 2025, was served at the National Investigations Bureau’s (NIB) Eastern Regional Office through the National Security Coordinator.
The Interior Minister gave the explanation when he responded to an urgent question by the Majority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, on the floor of the House last Tuesday.
Mr Afenyo-Markin, also the NPP MP for Effutu in the Central Region, inquired about the circumstances surrounding the attempted arrest of the Akwatia MP by 10 operatives of the NIB in three official pickup vehicles on Friday, March 7, 2025 in Akwatia.
As a result, the Interior Minister, who is also the National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP for Asawase in the Ashanti Region, said the attempted arrest was merely an effort to carry out the High Court’s orders.
“Mr Speaker, the Koforidua High Court on February 19 issued a Bench Warrant for the arrest of Ernest Yaw Kumi, the Member of Parliament for the Akwatia Constituency.”
“The warrant was served at the NIB’s Eastern Regional Office through the National Security Coordinator. The circumstances surrounding the attempted arrest of the Member of Parliament by the officers of the NIB was therefore to carry out the orders of the High Court per the warrant dated February 19, 2025, for committal for contempt,” he said.
The attempted arrest was met with resistance from supporters of the NPP at Akwatia in the Eastern Region.
On January 3, 2025, the Koforidua High Court, presided over by Justice Senyo Amedahe, found Mr Kumi guilty of contempt after he allegedly disregarded an injunction order for him not to be sworn in as an MP, pending the determination of a petition challenging his election.
That followed a lawsuit by Henry Boakye-Yiadom, the NDC parliamentary candidate for the Akwatia Constituency and former MP, against the Electoral Commission (EC), Kumi, and the Clerk to Parliament.
The lawsuit challenged the election results that declared Mr Kumi the winner with 19,269 votes against Boakye-Yiadom’s 17,206 votes.
Despite the injunction, Kumi proceeded to be sworn in on January 7, 2025.
In an earlier ruling in January, the court dismissed an application by Kumi’s legal team, led by Gary Nimako Marfo, seeking to set aside the interim injunction.
In February this year, the court issued a bench warrant for the arrest of Mr Kumi, after finding him guilty of contempt.
The court issued the order after it considered that the MP defied an injunction barring him from being sworn in as MP on January 7, 2025.
The judge explained that Kumi had been absent from court since the contempt proceedings began, prompting the issuance of the warrant for his arrest.
The court also rejected a letter from the Minority Caucus of Parliament, which claimed that the MP was occupied with parliamentary duties and, therefore, unable to attend court.
John Ntim Fordjour, Former Deputy Minister of Education
Former Deputy Minister of Education, John Ntim Fordjour, has demanded that President John Mahama call Richard Jakpa to order if he didn’t sanction the recent raids on homes of former appointees.
His call comes after reports that Richard Jakpa, the Director of Special Operations at the National Security Secretariat, had led a raid on the home of former Bank of Ghana (BOG) Governor, Dr Ernest Addison, with 20 armed men on March 19, 2025.
Speaking to the raid on former BOG governor’s home on Okay FM’s ‘Ade Akye Yen Bia’ on March 20, 2025, he suggested that Jakpa’s action was authorised by the president.
“Since John Mahama took office, all we see is vigilantism. Ironically, these raids are all traced to Richard Jakpa. When you ask further questions, all that the security heads say is that they didn’t give any such orders and yet no one is investigating these occurrences,” he lamented.
He indicated that because there hasn’t been any probe into earlier raids, such as the raid on former finance minister, Ken Ofori-Atta’s home, he has been emboldened to carry out more of such unwarranted searches.
“Because no investigations were conducted over raid on Ofori-Atta’s resident, Jakpa has become emboldened and has not only gone ahead to repeat same on BOG boss; he is inviting people anyhow. If it is not Mahama behind Jakpa’s raids he must call him to order,” he said.
He alleged that Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah, a media personality, had been similarly summoned to answer some questions, whereas, Kevin Taylor, a social commentator, is still walking free for saying worst things.
“I even heard that Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah was also invited for questioning for comments he made on his show, but Kevin Taylor has said worst things about high profile people, including Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, former president and other politicians. In his case, a court has issued an arrest warrant for defamation for him, but he was walking about freely at President Mahama’s inauguration.
“Are they saying they didn’t see him? Did he not enter the country through the airport? But security agencies did not arrest him. In fact, they protected him throughout his two-week stay in the country,” he stated.
He cautioned that if the John Mahama-led government continues what he termed as a vigilantism, they would be disgraced.
He strongly condemned recent raids, arrests and invitations under the Mahama-led government.

Acting Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator, Captain (Retired) John Kwame Jabari
The Acting Ashanti Regional Security Coordinator, Captain (Retired) John Kwame Jabari, has expressed confidence in the President John Mahama-led government’s commitment to combating illegal mining.
According to Jabari, President Mahama has demonstrated his political will to tackle the issue by warning his appointees and party members to refrain from engaging in illegal mining activities.
He revealed that security agencies have recently arrested some groups in the Ashanti Region who are facing prosecution for illegal mining.
This move, he said, is seen as a significant step towards addressing the environmental and economic challenges posed by illegal mining in Ghana by President John Mahama.
President Mahama has been vocal about his administration’s plans to combat illegal mining, including auditing all concessions issued and identifying the beneficial owners of such concessions.
He has also pledged to promote responsible mining practices and impose stiffer punishments on those found guilty of illegal mining.
Captain (Retired) John Kwame Jabari outlined some measures to combat the menace during an interview on Otec FM’s morning show, “Nyansapo,” hosted by Isaac Osei Akoto, on Thursday, March 20, 2025.
“We are partnering with local police and small-scale miners in the mining communities to ensure total adherence to mining regulations,” he mentioned.
“We have the human resource capacity; the Police, the Military, the Immigration Service, and the Minerals Commission among others, are well-resourced to protect the water bodies and the forests,” he added.
He stressed that “with these measures backed by the political will shown by President John Mahama, illegal mining in the country will be drastically reduced to save the environment from destruction.”
On the same radio station’s morning show, Michael Adu Gyamfi, the Ashanti Regional Secretary of the Ghana National Association of Small-Scale Miners, declared the association’s willingness to collaborate with security agencies in the region to combat illegal mining.
To demonstrate the association’s commitment to responsible mining practices, he warned that any member found engaging in any illegal mining activity would be named, shamed, and arrested for prosecution.
“As an organisation registered for responsible mining, our support is crucial in the fight against illegal mining. By working together with security agencies, we aim to promote sustainable mining practices and protect the environment,” Michael Adu Gyamfi emphasised.
The Ghana Chamber of Mines has disbursed US$2 million as the second tranche of its Tertiary Education Fund to the University of Mines and Technology (UMaT).
The initiative aims to strengthen research grants and develop infrastructure, to ultimately enhance local participation in the mining industry.
Thet Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Chamber of Mines, Sulemanu Koney, made the announcement during the inauguration of the Association of Local Mine Contractors, Ghana, held over the weekend at Ntotroso-Gyedu in the Ahafo Region.

The newly formed association consists of local contractors who engage in subcontracts with major mining companies, including Newmont Ghana Gold Limited. Its primary mission focuses on advocating fair policies and creating more opportunities for local businesses within the mining sector.
Mr. Koney highlighted the crucial role that local contractors play in the mining industry. “Local contractors are indispensable in providing essential services such as drilling, blasting, haulage, equipment maintenance, site preparation, and infrastructure development,” he stated.
He encouraged these contractors to take advantage of the Chamber’s Tertiary Education Fund to develop skilled labour, emphasizing the importance of mentorship and skills development in cultivating a world-class workforce for the sector.
The mining industry contributes significantly to Ghana’s economy, accounting for 10% of the nation’s GDP and generating 50% of total export revenues in 2024. Furthermore, in 2023, the sector contributed GH₵11.5 billion in taxes, representing 23% of domestic revenue and 9% of government revenue.
“As the mining sector evolves, initiatives such as the Tertiary Education Fund and associations dedicated to local contractors represent a pivotal shift toward empowering local businesses, contributing to a more sustainable and inclusive mining industry in Ghana,” he added.
Mr. Alex Kwame Boapong, President of the Association and CEO of Alexiboam Company Limited, expressed gratitude to Newmont for supporting local contractors with contract awards. He urged the government to recognize the invaluable contributions of local contractors and provide them with greater opportunities to combat unemployment and tackle the challenges posed by illegal mining.
Afrobeats artiste, Kelvyn Boy
Following complaints by some music lovers in Ghana that the new crop of artistes are beginning to sound more Nigerian, popular Ghanaian Afrobeat musician Kelvyn Boy has offered an explanation for this phenomenon.
Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM on March 20, 2025, the ‘Vero’ hitmaker explained that most artistes find it difficult to break into the international market when they sound like the ‘typical Ghanaian.’
He added that even when they decide to do so, they get compared with the Nigerians in terms of international impact.
“We are finding it hard when we sound typical Ghanaian. I mean, enodey go when we do it like that. Even if ego is just here , you come back and say, ‘Oh, why are we just here and some people are international?'” Kelvyn Boy stated.
He further justified the act, explaining that Nigerian artistes use Ghanaian terms in their songs in order to break into the local market.
“They don’t sound just them; they sometimes leave theirs and come and say our own. They fuse in. The fusion is what I’m talking about. Because at the end of the day, it’s the same Ghanaian people who listen to Nigerian songs,” he said.
Kelvyn Boy, however, acknowledged that a balance is needed, stating, “We’re talking about balance. The fusion and balance are what I think are taking time.”

Former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong
It has emerged that the former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, owns at least three New Jersey properties worth over $1.8 million, which can be considered in settling the $18m defamation slapped on him in favour of Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
According to public records, as reported by 3news.com, the assets could be leveraged to satisfy part of the defamatory judgment against him.
Following the recent $18 million defamation judgment awarded to investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, against Kennedy Agyapong in New Jersey, public records have supposedly emerged that show that the Ghanaian businessman and former MP allegedly owns at least three properties in the United States, with a combined purchase value exceeding $1.8 million.
However, the report said it was found after obtaining a property search report that focuses on properties identified in Essex County, New Jersey, where the judgment was passed, although Agyapong may own additional real estate elsewhere in the US.
According to property records obtained from Essex County, New Jersey, Agyapong owns three significant properties.
Earlier, the Superior Court of New Jersey awarded investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas $18 million in damages in a defamation lawsuit against former Member of Parliament Kennedy Agyapong and Frederick Asamoah, a social media commentator.
The judgment comes after a lengthy legal battle stemming from alleged defamatory statements made by the defendants during a 2021 interview broadcast on social media.

Former Deputy Minister of Transport, Hassan Tampuli
A former Deputy Minister of Transport, Hassan Tampuli, has asserted that the stabilisation in petroleum product prices is a result of the implementation of Akufo-Addo’s Gold-for-Oil programme.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament during the debate on the 2025 Budget on Wednesday, March 19, 2025, he stated that the initiative has played a crucial role in reducing fuel costs for Ghanaians.
To support his claim, the former deputy transport minister said before the introduction of the Gold-for-Oil programme, fuel prices had surged to GH¢23 per litre, causing significant financial strain on consumers.
“The Gold-for-Oil programme has been one of the main reasons we still have this stability in the price of petroleum products. At some point in 2022, Mr. Speaker, prices had gone up to GH¢23 per litre. By the singular intervention of Gold-for-Oil, we have seen a remarkable drop in the prices to GH¢13, and currently, we are hovering around GH¢13 and GH¢14, depending on the product you are buying,” Hassan Tampuli stated.
The Gold-for-Oil policy was a strategic programme launched by the Akufo-Addo government.
Its goal was to leverage the Bank of Ghana’s Domestic Gold Purchase (DGP) programme to support the importation of petroleum products into the country.
The initiative was designed to free up foreign exchange resources, reduce pressure on the Central Bank’s foreign reserves and the banking sector, and procure petroleum products at competitive prices through Government-to-Government arrangements.
As part of the programme, the Bank of Ghana purchased all gold produced and exported by companies with licensed small-scale concessions, including community mines.
This gold was then used to pay for oil supplies to Ghana, either through barter trade or via a broker channel.

Denu (VR), March 20, GNA- A group has come out to support Prof Ransford Gyampo, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Ghana Shippers Authority (GSA), urging the public to disregard the “baseless claims” made against him.
Prof Gyampo, a renowned academic and political analyst was appointed as the acting CEO of the GSA by the John Dramani Mahama government, with his appointment seen as a move to bring expertise in governance and public administration to the leadership of the Authority.
However, allegations had begun to trail him barely weeks in his new role, which the group, Reform for Youth Empowerment (RYE) had described as attempts by some members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to discredit him.
A press release Thursday signed by Mr Michael Akorli Kumi, Executive Secretary, RYE and made available to Ghana News Agency described claims that the public servant had acquired a new official vehicle since assuming office, dismissed 30 workers from the GSA and, installed massage chairs in his office as malicious.
“For the record, Prof Gyampo currently has no designated official vehicle and relies on the Authority’s shared pool of vehicles for official duties. He even sometimes uses his private car to fulfill his responsibilities. Any suggestion that he has taken advantage of state resources for personal gain is completely false and intended to mislead the public.
Additionally, the allegations that Prof Gyampo has dismissed 30 workers from the GSA are baseless. The directive to withdraw all personnel engaged after the elections by the NPP government was issued by the Chief of Staff, not by Prof Gyampo. At GSA, only 9 staff members were affected, not 30 as falsely reported. It is therefore misleading to blame him for a decision beyond his control.”
“We also want to set the record straight regarding the claim that Prof Gyampo has installed massage chairs in his office. The viral video showing him using a massage chair was not recorded at his office but at a hotel gym in Essipong, Takoradi. Anyone doubting this can verify the facts by visiting either his office or the hotel in question. This is yet another attempt by detractors to discredit his leadership,” it added.
The group, which the release, said had done due diligence in discovering the truth, encouraged all well-meaning Ghanaians to also verify the facts from the Corporate Affairs Directorate of the GSA, insisting Prof Gyampo remained committed to cost-
cutting measures under the Reset Agenda of President Mahama and was focused on efficient governance at GSA, in the national interest.
“The RYE has gathered Prof Gyampo due to his consistent criticism of the ills of the erstwhile administration, which contributed to their embarrassing defeat in the 2024 elections, the obvious reason for all these attacks,” it said.

A health professional inspecting the teeth of a school boy
The Dental Surgeon at Tarkwa Municipal Hospital in the Western Region has expressed concern at the rate at which sweets and sugary drinks are causing dental decay among children.
Dr. Victor Paintsil has, therefore, suggested that the sale of all sugary drinks and sweets should be banned in schools to tackle tooth decay which affects children.
“If I had my way, we will place a ban on the sale of sweets on school compounds to protect children against dental related diseases.
“The children should rather be encouraged to eat fruits like oranges and bananas. Some fruits are seasonal, and so whenever they are available, the children should eat plenty of those fruits,” he pointed out.
Dr. Paintsil was speaking in an interview with journalists during a sensitisation programme for school children on oral health.
The event, which was organised by Gold Fields Ghana Foundation in collaboration with Pepsodent Ghana, was to mark this year’s World Oral Day celebration, which falls today.
It is on the theme, “A Happy Mouth is a Happy Mind”.
School children from Nana Amoakwa Model School, Damang Roman Catholic and Damang Municipal Assembly Basic Schools attended the programme.
He mentioned that oral health is a key indicator of overall health and quality of life, and stressed the need for all to have access to quality dental care.
He also bemoaned the scarcity of oral health services in remote areas, making it difficult for the residents to have access to dental health services.
As part of efforts to help bridge oral health service gap in remote areas, Dr. Paintsil suggested that a dental facility could be constructed in remote communities.
“Then a duty roster can be prepared so that dentists from the urban areas can attend to patients in remote communities on rotational basis,” he added.
Project Coordinator, Gold Fields Ghana Foundation, Ayishetu Mohammed, explained that the foundation got to know that there were lot of referral cases of dental-related diseases from the Damang area, hence the need to choose the community for the programme.
She said the school children were educated on oral hygiene and taught how to brush their teeth and protect them from cavity, and were taken through dental screening.
“The children were also given oral kits, Pepsodent-branded raincoats and mathematical sets,” she said.
Oral Care Brand Manager of Unilever, Glenn Abraham-Ampomah, stressed that Pepsodent is on a mission to prioritise oral health for all Ghanaians.

The Inspector General of Police (IGP), COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, has lifted the communication embargo previously imposed on police spokespersons, urging a renewed and proactive engagement with the media.
Speaking at a workshop for the Ghana Police Service’s public relations officers (PROs), IGP Yohuno emphasized the vital role of effective communication in building public trust and improving crime-fighting efforts.
He stated that no society can effectively combat crime without the trust and collaboration of its people, adding, “This is why effective policing is a partnership—one that requires officers to work closely with the communities they serve to foster a safer and crime-free environment.”
The IGP pointed out the evolving needs of society and the media, stressing the importance of professional and strategic communication in maintaining police legitimacy and public confidence.
“In times when the public demands greater involvement and accountability in our service delivery, a well-tested approach ensures police legitimacy and boosts public confidence. This is where your significant role as public affairs officers in fostering positive interactions with the public becomes essential and directly impacts police effectiveness,” he explained.
He further invited all Regional Police Public Affairs offices to re-engage and meet the changing demands of society and the media.
IGP Yohuno also acknowledged the crucial role of the media in shaping public perceptions of law enforcement and influencing crime-fighting efforts, calling for an intentional, professional, and instructive engagement with the media.
The previous IGP, George Akuffo Dampare, implemented a centralized approach to communication since his appointment in 2021, restricting regional and district officers from speaking to the media.
Information flow at the national headquarters was also tightly controlled, with the Public Affairs unit mainly issuing press statements via social media, limiting interviews or press briefings.
Despite complaints from the media and stakeholders, former IGP Dampare maintained his communication strategy.
Richard Jakpa is the Director of Special Operations at the National Security Secretariat
Richard Anthounma Jakpa, a figure who was dishonourably discharged from the army and has since carried out raids on ex-government officials; raids many have described as illegal, has become a central topic of discussion in the country.
Before the lead-up to the 2024 Election and his acquittal in the infamous ambulance trial case by the former New Patriotic Party-led government involving Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, the current Minister of Finance, Jakpa was relatively unknown in larger political circles.
While he was recognised by members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), his name was still not widely known by the general public.
This changed with the resurfacing of the ambulance trial, which had been ongoing for some time. In July 2024, the Court of Appeal acquitted and discharged both Ato Forson and Jakpa of wrongdoing in the purchase of some ambulances under the first tenure of President John Dramani Mahama.
Following this, Jakpa quickly became a known figure in political and national discussions during the electioneering period.
He publicly declared his support for the NDC and was subsequently appointed by the party as an agent supervisor for the 2024 Election ballot printing.
But who is Richard Jakpa, the operative who has emerged as a figure leading raids against former government officials, sparking widespread conversations and controversies?
Profile
Richard Jakpa is a businessman, founder, and executive chairman of Las Adventuras Ltd, a civil engineering and building contracting company.
The company began as a general civil works contractor in 2009 and has since expanded its scope to become a main contractor, handling projects of various scales, including industrial and commercial developments.
Military record
Jakpa was dishonorably discharged from the Ghana Armed Forces due to unsatisfactory conduct and acts of indiscipline.
He was commissioned as a Lieutenant on August 21, 1998, as part of Regular Career Course Intake 38 and was initially posted to the Army Reece Regiment.
Between 2000 and 2007, Jakpa made eight unsuccessful attempts to pass the Level A PROMEX, a written promotional exam for military officers seeking advancement.
Officers primarily take this exam with the rank of Flying Officer or Flight Lieutenant, who are eligible for promotion to higher ranks.
In addition to his failure in promotional exams, Jakpa’s disciplinary record further contributed to his discharge.
Notably, in 2004, he went AWOL (Absent Without Leave), for which he was tried and charged. He was severely reprimanded, with the forfeiture of 14 days’ pay.
Jakpa, among other misconducts, was sacked for unsatisfactory conduct and inefficiency in the discharge of his duties under Article 15 item 2 (a) of the GAF regulations, where inefficiency under the said regulation meant continuous lack of application and interest, as stated in the rules.
In summary, Jakpa was released from the service in 2007.
Government appointment
Jakpa was appointed as the Director of Special Operations at the National Security Secretariat, with his appointment taking effect on January 31, 2025.
In this role, Jakpa oversees the planning and execution of covert and overt operations.
His duties also include developing early warning systems for emerging threats such as terrorism, insurgency, and organised crime.

Former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong
It has emerged that the former Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Agyapong, possess at least three New Jersey properties worth over $1.8million, which can be considered in settling the $18m defamation slapped on him, in favour of Anas Aremeyaw Anas.
According to public records, as reported by 3news.com, the assets could be leveraged to satisfy part of the defamatory judgement against him.
Following the recent $18 million defamation judgment awarded to investigative journalist, Anas Aremeyaw Anas, against Kennedy Agyapong in New Jersey, public records have supposedly emerged that show that the Ghanaian businessman and former MP allegedly owns at least three properties in the United States, with a combined purchase value exceeding $1.8 million.
However, the report said it found it out after obtaining a property search report that focuses on properties identified in Essex County, New Jersey, where the judgment was passed, although Agyapong may own additional real estate elsewhere in the US.
According to property records obtained from Essex County, New Jersey, Agyapong owns three significant properties.
Earlier, the Superior Court of New Jersey awarded investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas $18 million in damages in a defamation lawsuit against former Member of Parliament Kennedy Agyapong, and Frederick Asamoah, a social media commentator.
The judgment comes after a lengthy legal battle stemming from alleged defamatory statements made by the defendants during a 2021 interview broadcast on social media.

SEND-Ghana, a non-governmental organisation (NGO) with a specialty in policy research and advocacy, has raised alarm over the persistent infrastructure deficit plaguing Ghana’s basic and secondary education systems.
In its preliminary assessment of selected sectors of the 2025 Budget Statement and Economic Policy, the organisation highlighted how these challenges are severely undermining the delivery of quality education across the country.
The NGO highlighted in its statement that over 700 junior high schools still operate under trees or in dilapidated structures, while many second-cycle institutions continue to rely on the double-track system to manage overcrowding.

Additionally, it stressed that although the double-track system was introduced as a temporary measure to accommodate high student intake, it has exacerbated the strain on school facilities, further deteriorating the learning environment.
SEND Ghana’s analysis underscores the gross inadequacy of government funding for goods, services and capital expenditures, which currently stands at a mere 10.63 percent of the education budget.
This level of funding, the NGO argues, is insufficient to address the infrastructural gaps and deliver quality education to the pre-tertiary levels.
The analysis showed that basic education, in particular, suffers the most from chronic underfunding.
A review dating back to the 2023 Budget indicated that approximately GH₵3.5billion is needed annually to improve infrastructure in basic education, and as such the NGO is urging the government to increase allocations for goods, services and capital expenditures to enhance teaching and learning conditions.
“According to our 2023 Budget analysis, approximately GH₵3.5billion is needed annually to improve infrastructure in basic education. Government must increase allocations for goods and services and capital expenditures to enhance teaching and learning.
“While the allocation of 20 percent of allowances to incentivise teachers assigned to underserved communities is a positive step toward improving the teacher-pupil ratio and conditions for these educators, allocating 87 percent of the education budget to compensation is not equitable,” it stated.

Thus, with a staggering 87 percent of the education budget being allocated to compensation, leaving little room for critical investments in infrastructure and learning materials, this looks impossible to close the infrastructure deficit.
Delays in capitation grants and depreciating value
The statement also highlighted the frequent delays in the release of capitation grants, which are essential for improving school performance through better access to teaching and learning materials at the basic level.
Although the capitation grant has increased from GH₵84million to GH₵146million – raising the per-child allocation from GH₵10 to GH₵15, it argued that inflation has already eroded its real value.
SEND Ghana is calling on the government to index the capitation grant against inflation and ensure its timely release to enable schools to utilise the funds effectively.
“Delays in disbursement only exacerbate the challenges faced by schools, particularly in rural and underserved areas,” emphasised the statement.
A call to action
As Ghana strives to achieve Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) four – Quality Education, SEND Ghana’s findings serve as a stark reminder of the urgent need for reform.
The policy think tank is calling on the government, civil society and development partners to work together to address the infrastructure deficit and ensure that every child has access to quality education.
Addressing the challenges in the education sector requires increased funding for infrastructure development to eliminate schools under trees and improve facilities; index capitation and school feeding grants against inflation to maintain their real value; ensure timely disbursement of funds to schools and caterers to enhance efficiency; and develop clear policy guidelines for the school feeding programme to ensure transparency and quality.

Fidelity Bank Ghana and the Design & Technology Institute (DTI), a leading privately accredited TVET institution, have signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to train, mentor, and provide affordable funding for youth and female-led enterprises who have completed DTI’s Precision Quality (PQ) training programme.
The MoU, signed at Fidelity Bank’s head office in Ridge, Accra, sets forth a three-year framework for cooperation. Under the agreement, Fidelity Bank will extend its inclusive banking and sustainable finance products—particularly through its flagship Fidelity Young Entrepreneurs Initiative (FYEI)—to eligible entrepreneurs identified and trained by DTI. Prominent investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas brought a case against former Ghanaian parliamentarian, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, in the U.S. State of New Jersey. The lawsuit originated when Agyapong accused Anas of murdering another journalist following the airing of a documentary on corruption in the country.
Anas’s case was first dismissed by a Ghanaian court, a decision that was upheld by the country’s Supreme Court. The journalist then sought reprieve at a court in the U.S. where the accused is said to have properties.

Former Member of Parliament for Dome-Kwabenya, Sarah Adwoa Safo, has revealed that her former partner, Kennedy Agyapong, abandoned her during the 2007 New Patriotic Party (NPP) primaries to campaign for Professor Mike Oquaye, despite her being pregnant with his child at the time
Speaking in an interview on Movement TV on March 19, 2025, Adwoa Safo was asked whether she would support Kennedy Agyapong’s bid for the NPP flagbearership.
In response, she stated that she believes in the party’s current flagbearer, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and her political decisions are not influenced by family ties.
“I have made my political decision, and I believe Dr. Bawumia deserves a second chance, so that is my position.
“Do you know that during my first primary. Kennedy Agyapong campaigned for Professor Mike Oquaye? In 2007, he was on every platform campaigning for Professor Mike Oquaye while I was pregnant with his child. It was only in my second term that he helped me with my campaign. And in my third term, he again campaigned for Oquaye Jnr. So, I also have my preference,” she said.
She further emphasized that Kennedy Agyapong’s decision to campaign against her during the NPP primaries in 2008 reinforces her stance that political choices are personal.
Despite his initial opposition, she acknowledged that Kennedy Agyapong later supported her in subsequent elections.
Adwoa Safo lost her bid for re-election in the 2024 NPP primaries to Mike Oquaye Jnr., who later lost the Dome/Kwabenya parliamentary seat to the NDC candidate in the general elections.

Two men who conspired and stole faulty car parts worth GH¢17,500 at Bogoso junction, have received three months imprisonment each with hard labour from the Tarkwa District Court One.
The convicts, Robert Cudjoe alias “Nose mask,” a commercial tricycle rider, 19, and Isaac Aidoo alias “Yaw talk,” a small-scale miner,18, pleaded guilty to both charges.
Police Sergeant Enoch Assan-Donkoh, who led prosecution told the court presided over by Mr Charles Owusu Nsiah that the complainant, Christopher Dorglo, was an auto mechanic at Bogoso junction, but resided at Booboobo near Tarkwa.
He said Cudjoe, Aidoo and their partner Emma, who is now on the run, are residents of Booboobo in the Tarkwa Nsuaem Municipality.
Sergeant Assan-Donkoh said the complainant had a collection of faulty vehicle parts, including gearboxes of Nissan Sentra, Ford Escape and Hyundai SantaFe vehicles stored in the open area at his workshop, to be used for repairs.
He said on October 25, 2024, between the hours of 12:00 am and 1:00 am Cudjoe, Aidoo and Emma who had planned to steal the vehicle parts from the complainant’s shop and sell them as scraps, carried out their operations.
In addition to the vehicle parts, the three friends also stole a defective car battery, one damaged car air condition tank and four car water tanks from a nearby workshop.
He said they hid the stolen items at Bogoso junction behind a storey-building situated along the Bogoso junction-Samahu road.
The prosecutor said around 8:30 am, Aidoo hired a commercial tricycle rider, one Paul Balungo, a witness in the case, who was working at Bogoso Junction to transport the stolen items to Samahu for a fee.
He said just as the tricycle was about to depart with the stolen goods, a witness, Eric Wilson, chanced upon the three men while on his way to his workshop, at the back of the building.
He said Wilson confronted them as to where they got the items from, and thereafter, left to invite other people.
The court heard that Aidoo and Emma fled the scene upon seeing Wilson return with reinforcements, but Cudjoe and the tricycle rider, Balungo were apprehended and subsequently handed over to the police.
Sergeant Assan-Donkoh informed the court that the complainant discovered the theft at his workshop that same morning and identified the stolen gearboxes as his.
He added that Aidoo was afterwards picked up by the police and in his caution statement, he confessed to the crime and named Cudjoe and Emma as his co-conspirator.
The duty bearers are currently working hard to apprehend Emma to face justice.
Following police investigations, Sergeant Assan-Donkoh told the court that Cudjoe and Aidoo were formally charged with the crime.

The Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) is making steady progress in repurposing Terminal 2 at Kotoka International Airport (KIA) to accommodate both domestic and international flights.
The initiative is aimed at easing congestion at Terminal 3 while maximizing the use of available space, reinforcing Ghana’s vision of becoming West Africa’s leading aviation hub.
As part of the transition, GACL’s Managing Director, Mrs. Yvonne Nana Afriyie Opare, has initiated continuous stakeholder engagements to ensure a smooth transition for airlines preparing to operate from the revamped terminal.
On Wednesday, March 19, 2025, GACL led a walkthrough of Terminal 2 with airline representatives to showcase the project’s progress.
The airlines expressed satisfaction with the developments and provided positive feedback on the operational readiness, activation, and transition (ORAT) process.
“Once completed, the repurposed Terminal 2 will accommodate growing passenger traffic and alleviate congestion at Terminal 3 during peak hours.
“The project is also expected to support the integration of new airlines planning to operate from KIA in the coming months,” the GACL MD briefly stated on March 19, 2025.

Media personality, Deloris Frimpong Manso, has wondered why there is a double standard in regards to older men dating younger women and older women dating younger men.
According to her, whenever an older man dates a younger woman, people have no problem with it but whenever an older woman dates a younger man, all hell breaks loose.

The Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA) will be holding a live musical concert for up-and-coming musicians at the Gold Coast Restaurant this Saturday, March 22, 2025.
The concert forms part of activities put in place to project Ghana’s culture and heritage during the Ghana Month celebrations.
The event, which will feature over 40 musicians, is being organised by MUSIGA for the young, up-and-coming musicians who don’t normally have big stages, to showcase their talents.
The President of MUSIGA, Bessa Simons, while expressing optimism about the upcoming concert, highlighted its importance to expose the young talents and help them gain recognition, adding that this is a move to give young talents a platform to showcase their potentials.
“We are inviting the managers, corporate world, just look at them and see if you can do business with them, because these are the future musicians we have,” he said.
Bessa also mentioned that last week, MUSIGA held a free health screening for musicians at the Accra Tourist Information Centre.

The opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP) has issued a directive to its members, urging them to refrain from discussing internal matters that could create unrest or disaffection within the party in the media.
In a statement signed by its General Secretary, Justin Kodua Frimpong, the party acknowledged the disappointment and emotional distress among its members following their defeat in the last election.
However, the leadership appealed for calm, stressing the need for unity as the party works towards rebuilding.
“As an officer of the party, mandated by the party’s Constitution under Article 10(7)(5) to coordinate the activities and operations of the party, please note that all party members are hereby directed to immediately cease discussing party issues that create unrest, negativism, and disaffection in the media and other related platforms,” the statement read.
The directive comes amid growing concerns that public outbursts by some party members could further deepen divisions within the NPP.
The leadership urged members to exercise restraint and allow internal processes to address grievances.
The statement also reminded members of their constitutional duty under Article 3(5) of the NPP Constitution to promote and defend the good name of the party.
It warned that any member who violates this directive would be referred to the appropriate disciplinary committees at the national, regional, or constituency levels.
Reiterating its commitment to unity, the party called on all members to uphold the values of the NPP and work towards strengthening the party for future electoral contests.
“Let us uphold the values of the NPP and work together to rebuild a stronger party for the future,” the statement concluded.

The articulator truck
Two people escaped unhurt when an articulator truck loaded with unspecified goods fell on its side at the Santasi Roundabout on March 18, 2025.
The accident occurred at around 2:30 am when the truck from Burkina Faso, with registration number AJ-5544-MD, failed its breaks.
An eyewitness who spoke to DAILY GUIDE said the vehicle was heading towards Patasi from Santasi when the incident occurred.
In trying to save some oncoming vehicles from the opposite side, the driver veered off the truck from its lane before falling on its side.
According to the eyewitness, one of the tyres of the articulator truck burst before hitting and uprooting some signposts and a giant billboard belonging to one of the telecom networks.
Meanwhile, the driver of the truck and his mate were miraculously seen after the accident with no injuries whatsoever.
“The driver and his mate may be using charms, that is why they were able to escape without being hurt. We heard a strange sound and we sensed an accident had occurred. When we rushed to the scene, we saw the driver and his mate walking majestically towards us with no stains of blood,” the eyewitness said.
The eyewitness narrated that there were total blackouts in the area after one of the electrical poles was pulled out by the truck.

We, the family and children of the Late Madam Gertrude Essie Quashigah, have noted with great sadness and disappointment the recent allegations made by former Minister for Gender, Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo, regarding the supposed mismanagement of the Ghana School Feeding Programme (GSFP) during our mother’s tenure as National Coordinator.
Our mother, who served as National Coordinator of the GSFP from 2019 until her untimely passing in 2023, carried out her responsibilities with the highest levels of integrity, dedication, and selflessness. Under her stewardship, the Programme witnessed remarkable expansion, touching the lives of thousands of Ghanaian schoolchildren and significantly improving nutrition and welfare standards across the country.
It is deeply painful that such unfounded and unfortunate accusations are being levelled against our mother at a time when she is no longer present to speak for herself. These remarks have caused distress not only to us, her children, but to all who respected her contributions to national development.
We are particularly disheartened given the historical relationship between our late father, Major Courage Quashigah (Rtd), and Hon. Safo’s father, Apostle Kwadwo Safo. Both families have shared bonds rooted in mutual respect and public service, making these claims all the more disappointing.
We respectfully call on Hon. Sarah Adwoa Safo to retract her statement, issue an unqualified apology, and refrain from further casting aspersions on the legacy of our late mother. We urge her to consider the pain such remarks have caused to our grieving family and to all who hold Madam Gertrude Quashigah’s memory dear.
Finally, we call on all well-meaning Ghanaians to continue to honour the life and work of Madam Gertrude Quashigah, a woman who devoted her life to the betterment of Ghanaian children and to the service of her nation.
