The Court of Appeal, sitting in Koforidua, on Monday granted an application for interlocutory injunction, restraining Mr. John Peter Amewu from holding himself out as Member of Parliament for Hohoe Constituency in the 8th parliament.
Additionally, the ruling prohibits the Speaker of Parliament from processing or paying any entitlements to Mr Amewu as the former Member of Parliament, pending the hearing and determination of the appeal.
Accra, May 19, GNA – The Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT), on Monday, May 19, opened a new branch at Spintex, Accra as part its expansion drive.
This is to bring social protection services closer to the doorsteps of workers in this brisk industrial and business zone in times of old age, permanent disability, death, or emigration.
The Spintex branch marks SSNIT’s 52nd physical presence across the country, with a 53rd branch expected to be commissioned in Adentan in Accra before the end of May.
Mr. Kwesi Afreh Biney, Director-General, SSNIT said: “This is a clear testament of our goal to increase accessibility and convenience to the people that we serve.”
He described Spintex as a vibrant and rapidly growing industrial area, which had turned into a hub of activities with many businesses, showcasing their presence, products and services.
“It’s a space that no one can decide not to recognise. So, we felt that it was good to situate a branch in this space and serve this community and serve it well,” the Director-General said.
He disclosed plans of the Trust to championing digital innovations, in addition to the existing USSD, websites and functional app to scale up and provide all-day services in line with the government’s 24-hour economy initiative.
He indicated that in Ghana, almost everyone used Mobile Money (Momo) for payments, transfer money to others, with a growing tech-savvy population, hence, the need to augment its digital services.
“As part of our strategy, we are enhancing our digital offerings to ensure that you can work with us, engage us, interact with us, and be safe at any time of the day and we will be opening our first virtual branch in quarter three of this year,” he said.
“With the virtual branch you dial in, and you have a benefit person to work with, a compliance person and a data person who is prepared to engage you, and a branch manager. So, whatever you want, just dial in and we are available 24 hours to provide that service,” he said.
Mr. Biney said SSNIT had grown its branches to 52 SSNIT branches, but there were still over 200 districts in the country, so they would leverage partnerships with financial institutions to bridge that gap.
Mr. Philip Kofi Senyah, Acting General Manager, Operations, SSNIT, also said the new branch would help extend services to the public, including the self-employed in Spintex and its surrounding areas.
“The Spintex branch represents another significant step in our effort to bring our services closer to you by ensuring greater convenience, improved accessibility and enhance customer experience.” Mr. Senyah said.
File photo of Kennedy Agyapong, a former Assin Central lawmaker and 2024 NPP presidential candidate
Kennedy Agyapong’s sister, Betty Agyapong, has come under intense criticisms from netizens following an interview she granted on the presidential dreams of her controversial brother.
In the interview, Betty said her brother, at age 13, told her he will be President of Ghana.
However, the claim has attracted ridicule from netizens who have questioned the suitability of Kennedy Agyapong as president, bringing into focus his controversies and attacks on women and fellow party members.
“Settings. My son says the same thing though . And I tell him that he can only become one by his character and the way he treats others. What you do with this information is not my business,” a social media user wrote.
Another said; “In Ghana, we joke too much else how on earth can Kennedy Agyapong be president? Am just wondering how a sane person will walk to voting booth to vote for Kennedy as president of a country like Ghana.”
Another netizen stated; “And yet he didn’t comport himself I mean his utterances, with regards to the public? I beg rest.”
“He can remain president in his family. This is how we were told someone made a personal promise to build a cathedral and we were made to suffer for it.”
Almost all comments which followed the video mocked Betty Agyapong’s claim as well as Kennedy Agyapong’s presidential dream.
The Tree Crop Development Authority (TCDA) is intensifying efforts to enforce and educate stakeholders on its directive regarding the export of unprocessed rubber.
This follows a successful stakeholder forum held earlier in Tema, in the Greater Accra Region, and is part of a broader initiative to deepen understanding and promote compliance across the rubber value chain.
Anchored in Act 1010 and its accompanying Legislative Instrument (LI 2470), TCDA is renewing its public education efforts on the directive regulating the export of unprocessed rubber.
The Authority has begun regional engagements to clarify compliance requirements and address industry concerns.
At recent forums held in Agona Nkwanta (Western Region) and Assin Fosu (Central Region), TCDA’s Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Andy Osei Okrah, engaged farmers, traders, producers, and other value chain actors on the directive issued on May 2, 2025.
The directive mandates that all individuals and entities involved in the rubber, shea, or cashew sectors must obtain a written permit from the Authority before engaging in exports or related commercial activities.
“This is not about banning the industry. No one is shutting down rubber, shea, or cashew businesses. We are here to ensure that the right processes are followed. These directives are grounded in regulations passed by Parliament, and they are designed to promote local processing, create jobs, and ensure long-term sustainability,” Dr Okrah clarified.
Participants at the Agona Nkwanta forum raised concerns about market pricing, planting practices, and the need to involve more youth in rubber farming.
In response, Dr Okrah reaffirmed TCDA’s commitment to supporting stakeholders through capacity building, the provision of quality seedlings, and targeted research to boost productivity.
At the next stop in Assin Fosu, where the majority of participants were rubber farmers, Dr Okrah addressed widespread misconceptions that the Authority was banning rubber operations.
“We are not here in favour of any individual or company. This is a national directive, and our goal is to protect and develop the industry in a way that benefits all Ghanaians,” he stated.
He also emphasized the importance of expanding rubber cultivation and prioritising value addition.
“Local industries must be fed with raw materials. We must move from exporting raw rubber to processing it locally—and that starts with planting more and adding value right here in Ghana,” he noted.
The events were attended by key stakeholders, including officials from the Ministry of Food and Agriculture (MOFA), the Ghana Police Service, the Agriculture and Natural Resources Advocacy Group (ANRAG), financial institutions, and other partner organisations, signaling strong national support for the initiative.
Dr Okrah concluded by encouraging stakeholders to continue sharing their experiences and insights to shape policies that will secure the future of Ghana’s rubber industry.
“This is a collaborative effort. The future of rubber depends on how well we work together today,” he said.
The forums mark a significant step in TCDA’s broader mission to regulate, support, and grow the six tree crops under its mandate, ensuring a sustainable and prosperous industry.

It’s likely already common knowledge that eating a varied diet helps keep your skin and hair healthy, but did you know that spices can have wonderful benefits for your appearance? Find out how garlic can promote hair development, how peppers can reduce the appearance of wrinkles, and how green tea can shield you from the harmful effects of the sun.
1. Place a chamomile tea bag in a small container and place it in the refrigerator after steeping it for two to three minutes in boiling water to release the anti-inflammatory enzymes. This is an effective treatment for beard burn. After it has had time to cool, you can use the tea bag to provide fast relief to the areas of your face that are red and itching.
2. Cinnamon is an excellent source of antioxidants, which protect the skin from the damaging effects of oxidative stress. It also imparts a delicious flavor to baked goods and warm beverages.
Keri Glassman, author of The O2 Diet and a registered dietitian, believes that one serving of cinnamon has more antioxidants than a half cup serving of blueberries. If you want an immediate increase in the antioxidant power of your coffee, add a half teaspoon of cinnamon to the ground beans before you brew it.
3. Garlic is a miracle worker for people with fine hair, despite the fact that it can leave your breath smelling bad. In order to produce robust and healthy hair, the hair follicle on your scalp need certain nutrients. Your hair will suffer if your diet does not contain the appropriate ingredients. According to Dr. Wu, eating foods that are abundant in the amino acid cysteine, which is found in garlic, can assist to revitalize your hair follicles. She goes on to say that the strength of your hair comes from the robust network of disulfide bonds that hold the cysteine molecules together. These bonds are what give your hair its resilience.
4. Here is yet another argument in favor of adopting a more environmentally friendly lifestyle: Catechins, which are also sometimes referred to as polyphenols, are found in high concentrations in green tea and are known to exhibit powerful anti-inflammatory, antioxidant, and anti-aging effects. Wu claims that applying green tea topically can also thicken the epidermis, speed up the healing of wounds, and inhibit an enzyme that causes uneven skin pigmentation, which in turn reduces the appearance of sun spots. All of these benefits can be achieved by applying green tea topically.
5. Spicy peppers such as chili, paprika, cayenne, and jalapeo not only excite your taste buds but also protect your skin from the harmful effects of the sun. According to Marti Wolfson, the culinary director at the Blum Center for Health in Rye Brook, New York, “Vitamins A and C in peppers help combat free radicals, limiting the destruction of collagen to maintain the integrity of our skin.” Peppers contain a high concentration of these vitamins.
Capsaicin, which is found in the vibrant peppers, can protect the skin from the harmful effects of ultraviolet radiation and functions as a sunscreen.
Konongo-Odumasi (Ash), May 19, GNA – Rev. Ebenezer Ekow Aidoo, the President’s nominee for the position of Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Asante-Akim Central, has been unanimously endorsed by members of the Assembly.
He received a resounding endorsement from all 35 Assembly Members, who voted “yes” to confirm his appointment.
Dr. Aidoo was the parliamentary candidate for the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2024 general elections.
Ahead of the MCE confirmation, the Assembly also elected Mr. Alex Nyarko, Assembly Member for Obenimase Electoral Area as the Presiding Member (PM) after two rounds of voting.
In the first round, Mr. Nyarko contested against Mr. Frank Effah Bonsu, polling 23 votes to Mr. Bonsu’s 12, failing to meet the two-thirds majority required by law.
Following extensive consultations with key stakeholders, including traditional leaders and the Member of Parliament (MP), Mr. Kwame Anyimadu-Antwi, Mr. Bonsu stepped down.
This led to a second round of voting, where members were asked to vote “yes” or “no” on Mr. Nyarko.
He secured 33 out of 35 votes, representing 94 percent in his favour.
In his acceptance speech, Dr. Aidoo expressed gratitude to President John Dramani Mahama and the Assembly Members for their trust and support.
He pledged to run an open and inclusive administration where all stakeholders have a voice in the development process.
“The overwhelming support I have received reflects a unified assembly determined to work together for the collective progress of our people,” he said.
Dr. Aidoo assured the Assembly of his unwavering commitment to collaborate closely with them in improving the lives of residents across Asante-Akim Central.
Crystal Palace made history at Wembley as Eberechi Eze’s first-half strike secured a stunning 1-0 victory over Manchester City, earning the South London club their first-ever FA Cup title.
In a tense and dramatic final, Eze continued his fine scoring form by netting for the fifth consecutive game.
The decisive moment came in the 16th minute when he met Daniel Muñoz’s low cross with a clinical finish—Palace’s first meaningful attack of the match.
Manchester City, heavy favourites and chasing yet another domestic title under Pep Guardiola, were left stunned. Controversy soon followed when Palace goalkeeper Dean Henderson appeared to handle the ball outside his area as Erling Haaland bore down on goal. Despite loud appeals, both the referee and VAR waved play on.
Henderson would go on to play a heroic role in Palace’s victory. The former Manchester United keeper denied Omar Marmoush from the penalty spot, and later produced superb saves to frustrate Haaland and substitute Jeremy Doku.
City dominated possession in the second half, but Palace remained dangerous on the counter. Muñoz had the ball in the net again just before the hour mark, only for VAR to rule the effort out for offside.
But it was Henderson once more who stood tall, preserving Palace’s slender lead with a string of crucial interventions.
At the final whistle, the Palace players erupted in celebration, having defied the odds to lift the oldest trophy in English football for the very first time. It was a moment of glory that will live forever in the hearts of their supporters—and one that firmly etched Eze and Henderson’s names into club folklore.
A viral screenshot of a WhatsApp group chat, has caught an NPP member of Parliament for Mpraeso Constituency in the Eastern Region, Davis Opoku Ansah, in a distasteful hate campaign against former Vice President, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia.
The MP, identified by the initials OPK in the chat group, launched the unfortunate tribal campaign against Dr. Bawumia when he rejected a call for the return of Dr. Bawumia as Flagbearer of the NPP for 2028, on the basis that a northerner cannot succeed another as President.
“You say Flagbearer? The current president, JM, is from the north and you want Ghanaians to elect another northerner in 2028?, ” the MP wrote.
His tribal tangent attracted criticism from members of the WhatsApp platform, who rejected the introduction of tribalism and divisiveness in the NPP, and generally Ghanaian politics.
A member of the group rejected the MP’s “dangerous tribalism” and presented historical antecedents of former Ghanaian leaders to show that by 2028, Ghana would be 71 years post independence and out of that, a northerner would have been President or Head of State for just 10 years out of the 71 years; adding that by 2028, a northerner would have been President for 8 years out of 36 years in the 4th Republic.
On this basis, OPK’s tribal campaign was rejected by many members of the group and “baseless and divisive,” with a caution to him and other tribal bigots to avoid such divisive campaign.
The Minister for Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo, has urged the newly inaugurated National Service Board to urgently address the persistent issue of ghost names on the list of service personnel.
This call was made during the inauguration of an 8-member governing board of the National Service Authority, chaired by Okai Mintah on Monday, May 19.
In his address at the ceremony, the Minister emphasised the need for a comprehensive clean-up of the National Service Scheme to restore public confidence in its operations.
“I challenge you as an incoming board to focus on constructing a systematic overhaul with technology at the forefront. You must address the vulnerability in the current system that allowed corruption to take root. This requires a complete overhaul, leveraging technology to create a more secure and transparent platform.
“Create a robust auditing system to eliminate all these ghost names. President Mahama does not want to hear again that we still have ghost names in the system,” he stressed.
A Ghanaian citizen, Alfred Ababio Kumi, has petitioned President John Dramani Mahama, requesting the immediate dissolution of the five-member committee constituted to investigate petitions for the removal of Chief Justice Gertrude Araba Esaaba Sackey Torkornoo.
The petition alleges serious breaches of judicial conduct by members of the committee that, according to the petitioner, undermine the integrity and credibility of the ongoing inquiry.
In the petition, addressed to the President and dated shortly after the committee’s first sitting on May 15, 2025, Mr. Kumi expressed grave concern over what he described as a compromising meeting between two committee members—Justices Gabriel Pwamang and Samuel Adibu-Asiedu—and Thaddeus Sory, counsel for one of the petitioners in the matter.
According to Mr Kumi, the meeting occurred on the evening of May 15 at Santoku Restaurant in Accra’s Airport Residential Area and was also attended by Supreme Court Justice, Yonni Kulendi.
The individuals were reportedly overheard discussing matters relating to the petition, which Mr. Kumi argues constitutes a serious conflict of interest and a breach of judicial ethics.
“The meeting between Justices Pwamang, Kulendi and Asiedu with Thaddeus Sory clearly has destroyed the integrity of the process and reduces public confidence in the process so far,” the petition reads.
Mr Kumi further alleges that Justice Pwamang has previously ruled in favour of the same petitioner represented by Mr. Sory, while Chief Justice Torkornoo had taken opposing positions in related matters.
He also pointed out that Justices Kulendi, Pwamang, and Adibu-Asiedu are all believed to have had prior interest in the Chief Justice position and were reportedly disappointed after President Akufo-Addo’s appointment of Justice Torkornoo.
“Justice Pwamang is known to be interested in becoming the Chief Justice following your election as President… Justice Samuel Kwame Adibu-Asiedu is also on record to have actively lobbied to be the Chief Justice after the exit of Justice Anin Yeboah,” Kumi stated.
The petitioner described the judges’ conduct as “deplorable” and “most unbecoming,” insisting that it compromises their ability to fairly adjudicate the petitions before them.
The five-member committee, announced by the presidency on April 22, 2025, is composed of:
1. Justice Gabriel Scott Pwamang – Supreme Court Judge 2. Justice Samuel Adibu-Asiedu – Supreme Court Judge 3. Daniel Yao Domelovo – Former Auditor-General 4. Major Flora Bazwaanura Dalugo – Member of the Ghana Armed Forces 5. Professor James Sefah Dzisah – Professor, University of Ghana
The committee was constituted under Article 146(6) of the 1992 Constitution to inquire into three separate petitions for the removal of the Chief Justice. Its inaugural sitting was scheduled for May 15.
Calling the entire process a potential “sham,” Mr. Kumi concluded his petition by urging President Mahama to act swiftly to safeguard the credibility of the constitutional process and to preserve public trust in the administration of justice.
The Office of the President has not yet officially responded to the petition.

Nations FC moved to the summit of the Ghana Premier League table with an emphatic 4–1 victory over Legon Cities, who were consigned to relegation after a dismal defensive display at the University of Ghana Stadium.
Kelvin Ampoful scored twice for the visitors, who were ruthless in attack and capitalised on a series of costly errors from the home side.
Ampoful opened the scoring midway through the first half, pouncing on a loose ball to slot home from close range.
But Nations FC were pegged back just before the break when Rabin Ousmane Sanon inadvertently diverted the ball into his own net, bringing Legon Cities level.
The second half saw Nations FC shift gears. Emmanuel Annor restored the lead in the 64th minute with a clinical finish after a slick passing move, before Sadiq Alhassan made it 3–1 with a powerful strike from the edge of the area.
Ampoful rounded off the scoring late on, sealing a comfortable win that lifts Nations FC back to the top of the league with just a handful of matches remaining.
For Legon Cities, it was a bitter blow. The defeat leaves them mathematically relegated, ending their stay in Ghana’s top flight.

The Court of Appeal sitting in Koforidua has granted an interlocutory injunction in a case brought by Professor Margaret Kweku and others from the SALL traditional areas, effectively restraining John Peter Amewu from presenting himself as the former Member of Parliament for the Hohoe Constituency.
In its ruling, the court barred the former lawmaker from holding himself out in any capacity as a former MP in the 8th Parliament of the Fourth Republic, according to a report by myjoyonline.com.
“The Court also restrained the Speaker of Parliament from processing or paying any entitlements to Mr. Amewu as the former MP, pending the hearing and determination of the appeal,” the report noted.
The order further extended to the Speaker of Parliament, Alban Bagbin, who has been restrained from disbursing any benefits or entitlements due to Peter Amewu in that capacity until the appeal is resolved.
This development follows a July 29, 2024, decision by the Ho High Court, presided over by Justice Owoahene Acheampong, which dismissed an election petition against Amewu’s 2020 election, citing lack of jurisdiction.
The petitioners subsequently filed a Notice of Appeal on July 31, 2024, challenging the dismissal. The application for the interlocutory injunction was filed at the Court of Appeal on December 23, 2024.
Leading the argument for the injunction, legal practitioner Tsatsu Tsikata urged the court to act in the interest of justice by restraining the Speaker from recognising or compensating Peter Amewu while the appeal is pending.
Counsel for Peter Amewu defended his client, arguing that Amewu acted based on the guidance of the Electoral Commission and should not be penalised for actions that fall under the Commission’s purview.
The three-member panel, chaired by Justice Bright Mensah and supported by Justices Noble Nkrumah and Hasata Amaleboba, found merit in the application and granted the injunction, the report indicated.

GMet has advised residents in flood-prone areas to relocate following the onset of seasonal rains
The Ghana Meteorological Agency (GMet) has advised residents living in flood-prone areas to consider temporary relocation as the country enters its seasonal rainfall period.
Speaking in an interview with Channel One TV, and monitored by GhanaWeb on Monday, May 19, 2025, the Head of the Central Analysis and Forecast Office, Felicity Ahafianyo, emphasised the need for public vigilance and proactive measures during the rainy season to prevent the loss of lives and property.
“Some of the remedies or recommendations we’re making include, first of all, disseminating accurate weather forecasts to the public so that they can make informed decisions.
“If you know you are in a flood-prone area and receive such information, it is expected that you act accordingly and move out. If your area gets flooded every year between now and June, you should plan to relocate temporarily and return after the season. That way, you stay safe while preserving your home,” she stated.
She added that the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) is actively involved in the emergency response plan, placing emergency contact numbers in affected areas.
“They are on our distribution list. Once we provide them with the information, they assess it and take appropriate action,” she added.
Three people, including a four-year-old girl, have been confirmed dead in the Adentan Municipality following torrential rains that caused severe flooding across parts of Accra on Sunday, May 18, 2025.

Abdul Fatawu Issahaku and Callum Hudson-Odoi were all smiles at the City Ground on Sunday, May 11, 2025, as the pair linked up following Nottingham Forest’s thrilling 2–2 draw with Leicester City.
While the match itself delivered plenty of Premier League drama, the post-match moment between the two players also stole headlines.
Fatawu, currently sidelined with a season-ending ACL injury, showed up to support the Foxes. However, after the game, Fatawu met with Hudson-Odoi for a brief chat.
The Ghanaian posted a photo of the two on Instagram with the caption: “Brother”, indicating their shared Ghanaian roots.
With Hudson-Odoi, yet to officially commit his international future, the link-up has added to the growing curiosity around a potential future with the Black Stars.
Though this latest meeting doesn’t confirm any decision, it does come at a time when Ghanaian fans and the GFA continue to keep a close eye on Hudson-Odoi, who remains eligible to switch allegiance from England to Ghana.
The pair have experienced contrasting fortunes this season. While Fatawu faces the disappointment of relegation, Hudson-Odoi is on the verge of securing European football with Nottingham Forest.

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate for the 2024 general elections Dr Mahamudu Bawumia has revealed the NPP plans to elect its 2028 presidential candidate lastest by January next year.

The Himba tribe, indigenous to Namibia’s Kunene region, are renowned for their distinctive customs and resilience in preserving their traditional lifestyle amidst modern influences.
One of their most notable practices is the avoidance of water for bathing, a choice deeply rooted in environmental, cultural, and practical considerations.
Residing in the arid landscapes of northern Namibia, the Himba face significant water scarcity. In such an environment, water is a precious resource, primarily reserved for essential activities like drinking and livestock sustenance. This scarcity has led the Himba to develop alternative methods for personal hygiene that do not rely on water.
Central to their hygiene routine is the application of otjize, a paste made from a mixture of butterfat and red ochre pigment. This paste serves multiple purposes: it cleanses the skin, offers protection against the harsh sun, and acts as a barrier against insect bites.
The reddish hue it imparts is also aesthetically significant, symbolizing earth’s rich tones and aligning with the Himba’s cultural identity. The process of applying otjize is meticulous and ritualistic, reflecting the tribe’s deep connection to their traditions.
In addition to otjize, Himba women engage in daily smoke baths to maintain cleanliness. They burn aromatic herbs and inhale the smoke, allowing it to envelop their bodies. This practice not only cleanses but also imparts a pleasant fragrance, further enhancing personal hygiene without the use of water.
These practices are more than just adaptations to environmental challenges; they are integral to the Himba’s cultural identity. The avoidance of water for bathing is intertwined with their social structures, beliefs, and aesthetic values. By adhering to these customs, the Himba maintain a strong sense of community and continuity with their ancestral heritage.
Former Vice President and 2024 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has expressed strong confidence that the NPP will return to power in the 2028 general elections, despite the outcome of the 2024 polls.
Speaking at an engagement in London, Dr Bawumia shared his conviction that political dynamics and historical trends in Ghana favour the NPP’s comeback in the next election cycle.
“I believe that in 2028 NPP is going to come back into government. I believe so. There are few reasons why I am so convinced about this,” he stated.
According to him, Ghana’s political history has shown that first-time presidential candidates often face difficulty winning elections, and this trend may give the NPP an edge in 2028.
“If you look at our political history—our political history suggests that it is usually difficult for a first-time presidential candidate to win an election in Ghana. I don’t know why that is, but Ghanaians want you to come more than once,” Bawumia noted, suggesting that the National Democratic Congress (NDC) may field a new candidate in 2028, giving the NPP a comparative advantage.
He also argued that the NDC’s performance in government would further discredit their campaign promises, especially those related to cost of living and economic relief.
“In opposition, they made so many promises and told a lot of stories about what they were going to do, and now they have come into government. It is not easy to do propaganda when you are in government. It is very easy to do propaganda in opposition,” he said.
Citing examples such as food prices and cost of materials, Dr Bawumia criticised the NDC for what he described as misleading the public while in opposition.
“They said that when they come, they will bring down the cost of kenkey and the cost of living. I don’t know, have you noticed the reduction in kenkey prices in Ghana? No. Prices are rather going up… You will see that this lie that they told about reducing the cost of living will be more and more exposed as we go forward,” he said.

The 2024 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has rendered an apology to Ghanaians for the inability of the Akufo-Addo-led government to fulfill its promises to the people of Ghana.
The former president linked the party’s historic failure in the 2024 general elections to its shortcomings while in power when he spoke in London, United Kingdom, during an address.
A new seven-member Governing Board of the National Lottery Authority (NLA) was inaugurated on Monday, May 19, 2025, with a clear task to improve revenue generation and streamline the Authority’s operations.
The Board is chaired by Mr Fredrick Amissah. Other members include the Director-General of the NLA, Mr Mohammed Abdul-Salam; Director of the Revenue Policy Division at the Ministry of Finance, Mr Edward Abrowkwah; Ms Doreen Panyin Annan from the Ministry of the Interior; Solicitor-General Ms Helen Akpene Awo Ziwu, representing the Office of the Attorney-General; Mr Gerald Baffour Awuah Bonsu, a nominee of the President; and Member of Parliament, Hon Faustina Elipklim Akurugu.
The inauguration was conducted on behalf of the Minister for Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, by the Deputy Minister for Finance, Hon Thomas Nyarko Ampem.
Mr Ampem, speaking after administering the Oath of Office and Oath of Secrecy, called on the new Board to reposition the NLA as an efficient and responsive public institution.
He urged the members to introduce fresh ideas and provide sound leadership that would help the Authority contribute more meaningfully to government revenue.
He stated that the NLA should not operate merely as a revenue-generating agency, but must also support national development by helping fund public projects.
“The Authority must modernise its systems, improve digital services, and address illegal lottery operations decisively,” Mr Ampem said.
Responding on behalf of the Board, Mr Amissah thanked the President and the Minister for Finance for the opportunity to serve.
“We are honoured to take on this responsibility,” he said. “Our goal is to operate in the interest of Ghanaians through transparency, accountability and practical innovation.”
According to Mr Amissah, the Board intends to increase revenue from both traditional and digital lottery platforms.
He also said efforts would be stepped up to curb illegal gaming activities and improve the Authority’s systems to make lottery participation safer and easier for all citizens.
The new board is expected to provide direction and oversight to enable the NLA to meet its targets and continue contributing to Ghana’s economic progress.
Ghanaian rapper Lyrical Joe has pushed back against claims that music videos are losing relevance in Ghana’s music industry.
According to him, music videos play a major role in an artiste’s brand, especially when it comes to industry recognition.
Lyrical Joe’s comments follow recent suggestions from some industry players, including artiste manager Bullgod, who believe that visualisers used for songs, are now more effective and popular than full music videos.
Speaking in an interview on Hitz FM, Lyrical Joe disagreed with this view, saying that while visualisers are important, they cannot replace the value of a professionally shot music video.
“Let’s be real, they’re not going to show your visualiser at the Grammys or MTV Music Awards. You need proper music videos in your catalogue to make a strong impression,” he said.
The rapper explained that music videos not only help in promoting songs but also show how committed an artiste is to their career. He added that record labels and companies often consider the quality and effort behind an artiste’s visuals before offering deals.
“When a label is thinking about signing you, they look at your full body of work. If all you have are visualisers, it may not be convincing enough. They want to see if you’ve invested in your brand through good videos,” Lyrical Joe stated.
He also admitted that freestyle videos are popular with fans but emphasised that they can’t replace official music videos in an artiste’s portfolio.
“Freestyles are fun and people enjoy them, but they can never carry the same weight as your official music videos. You can do many freestyles, but you only get one chance to make a great music video for a song,” he added.

Municipal Chief Executive of Adentan Municipal Assembly, Ella Esinam Nongo
Three people, including a child, have been confirmed dead following hours of heavy rainfall that triggered flash floods in parts of Accra on Sunday, May 18.
The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of the Adentan Municipal Assembly, Ella Esinam Nongo, confirmed the fatalities in an interview with Citi FM on May 19, 2025.
She revealed that the victims died in separate incidents within the municipality, according to a report by citinewsroom.com.
“In Lakeside, we lost two people, including a four-year-old girl at Nanakrom and a gentleman around New Legon,” she indicated.
The downpour, which began around 3:00 p.m. and lasted nearly three hours, led to widespread flooding across the capital.
Several roads were submerged, vehicles left stranded, and properties damaged. Communities worst hit included Weija, Kaneshie, Adabraka, Adenta-Dodowa, and parts of Tema.
The Odaw Drain, a major stormwater channel that cuts through central Accra, overflowed its banks due to the high volume of rainfall, further worsening the flooding situation in surrounding areas.
Emergency response teams were quickly deployed to affected locations.
Nongo confirmed that most residents stranded in the Ashiyie area were successfully rescued by Sunday night.
Nonetheless, the extent of the damage across various neighborhoods remains significant, and many residents in flood-prone areas continue to be at risk.
Speaking on the causes of the flooding, she cited poor drainage infrastructure and unregulated construction on waterways as major issues.
“Because people are building on waterways, there is no exit route for the water when it rains. That’s one of the main challenges we’re facing. There is a need for stricter enforcement of building regulations,” she said.
Nongo called for urgent government support and a renewed commitment to addressing the underlying structural and environmental factors behind Accra’s recurring floods.
She stressed the need for stricter enforcement of building regulations and comprehensive urban planning to prevent future disasters.

An economist professor at the University of Ghana Business School, Professor Godfred Bokpin, has called on the Bank of Ghana to clearly communicate its exchange rate targets to avoid uncertainties that could negatively affect the market in the long run.
According to him, the strategies being used to manage the cedi must be transparent and properly communicated.
“I believe the central bank has a certain exchange rate level in mind that they want to achieve and stabilize at, but this hasn’t been communicated. It leaves the market guessing, and that causes uncertainty,” he was quoted as saying by myjoyonline.com.
Professor Bokpin added that the Central Bank’s current strategy, which targets inflation by manipulating the exchange rate, is unsustainable.
“Inflation is basically aggregate demand exceeding aggregate supply. If supply is constrained and you only focus on exchange rate-driven disinflation, it’s not sustainable. Whenever the cedi strengthens, the issue is always about sustainability. The ups and downs are not good for the market. They are not good for planning,” he said.
The economist also noted that short-term appreciation may harm the local economy in the long run.
Instead of focusing on short-term gains, he said, “We should rather build our reserves. That allows for predictability and stability, which would be more helpful.”
“What the market is looking for is stability, stability that allows businesses to plan, investors to make decisions, and producers to expand. What you need are supply-oriented policies. Supply-oriented policies will not coexist with what we are doing right now,” he intimated.
Professor Bokpin concluded with a warning, “If we continue this way, we’ll strengthen the cedi, make imports cheaper, and kill our local industry. We’ll lose jobs and undermine long-term economic resilience.”

In the upcoming 2026 Maryland Elections, one name is capturing attention and inspiring hope: His Royal Majesty, His Excellency Osuman Lumor Jeroboam Yah Nii Armah Blackwell, affectionately known as Yahu Blackwell. As the leading candidate for the House of Delegates representing the Republican Party, Blackwell is positioning himself as a transformative figure for the state’s future.
Recently, in a gesture that speaks volumes about his commitment to community engagement, the king celebrated Police Week by visiting local police departments in his district. On May 19, 2025, he brought with him a delightful array of treats from Rita’s Italian Ice, aiming to express gratitude to the hardworking men and women in blue who serve and protect the community. This move not only shows his appreciation for law enforcement but also highlights his understanding of the importance of community relationships in fostering a safer environment for all Marylanders.
Blackwell’s campaign is built around a philosophy of revitalization and renewal, focusing on key issues that resonate with voters across the state. His vision for Maryland includes the introduction of a comprehensive legislative agenda aimed at addressing the pressing challenges facing the state. One of his primary objectives is to fix the taxation system, ensuring that more money stays in the pockets of Marylanders where it belongs. By creating a fairer tax structure, he believes that citizens will have enhanced financial freedom, ultimately boosting the local economy.
Education is another cornerstone of Blackwell’s platform. Acknowledging the current education crisis, he is committed to developing strategies that ensure every child in Maryland has access to quality education. This begins with a focus on parental rights regarding their children’s educational experiences, asserting that parents should have a significant role in the education system to guarantee their children receive the best possible guidance.
Public safety remains a critical concern, especially in today’s society. Blackwell’s agenda includes measures to enhance safety and security in communities across Maryland. By fostering stronger relationships between residents and law enforcement, along with advocating for laws that support both police and community members alike, he aims to build a safer state for everyone.
Moreover, the energy crisis, particularly concerning Baltimore Gas and Electric (BGE), has raised alarm among many Maryland residents. Blackwell plans to tackle these issues head-on, proposing innovative policies designed to secure stable and affordable energy sources for families while reducing the financial burden on households across the state.
At the heart of Blackwell’s campaign is a desire to reestablish a sense of morality and community values within Maryland. He champions the idea of bringing the power of God and the community back into the lives of the people.
In conclusion, His Royal Majesty, Yahu Blackwell, is more than just a candidate; he represents a vision for a brighter, more prosperous Maryland. As he embarks on this electoral journey, his commitment to serving the people and addressing their needs remains at the forefront of his campaign, making him a formidable contender in the 2026 elections. Marylanders are encouraged to join him in this call to action, for together, they can pave the way for meaningful change.
The Court of Appeal sitting in Koforidua has granted an interlocutory injunction brought by Professor Margaret Kweku and others from the SALL traditional areas to restrain John Peter Amewu, former Member of Parliament for Hohoe.
The court restrained Mr Amewu from holding himself out as a former Member of Parliament (MP) for Hohoe Constituency in the 8th Parliament of the Fourth Republic.
The Court also restrained the Speaker of Parliament from processing or paying any entitlements to Mr Amewu as the former MP, pending the hearing and determination of the appeal.
The Ho High Court presided over by Justice Owoahene Acheampong on July 29, 2024, dismissed the election petition against the election of Mr Amewu on the basis that the High Court lacked jurisdiction.
A Notice of Appeal was led on July 31, 2024, against the High Court’s decision.
The application for interlocutory injunction was also led on December 23, 2024 at the Court of Appeal.
Arguing the application, Mr Tsatsu Tsikata, who represented the petitioners, urged the court in the interest of justice, to prevent the Speaker of Parliament from processing or paying any entitlements to Mr Amewu, pending the hearing and determination of the appeal.
Counsel for Mr Amewu argued that his client had done nothing wrong and that if anything, the Electoral Commission should be held responsible for misleading Mr Amewu, the second respondent.
The three-member panel presided over by Justice Bright Mensah held that the application was meritorious.
Other members of the panel were Justice Noble Nkrumah and Justice Hasata Amaleboba.
Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson has announced that Ghana has resolved the longstanding disarray in its gold purchasing sector, with the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod) now holding exclusive authority over all trade involving gold from the small-scale mining sector.
Speaking at the swearing-in ceremony of the newly constituted Governing Board of GoldBod in Accra on Monday, May 19, Dr. Forson explained that previous fragmentation and lack of coordination in the sector had facilitated widespread gold smuggling and caused significant foreign exchange losses for the country.
“I am happy to announce that the erstwhile chaos in Ghana’s gold purchasing sector that prevented the nation from fully benefiting from its gold resources has come to an end.”
He detailed how, in the past, several entities—including the Precious Minerals Marketing Company (PMMC), the Bank of Ghana (BoG), the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF), private aggregators, and licensed exporters—were all involved in various gold-purchasing schemes such as “gold for forex,” “gold for reserves,” “gold for oil,” and “gold for cash.”
This, he said, resulted in a fragmented and poorly regulated sector with overlapping mandates.
“Despite its primary mandate to optimize mineral investment, MIIF also ventured into gold buying, incurring substantial financial losses,” Dr. Forson noted.
He affirmed that under the new structure, GoldBod has been given the exclusive role of managing official gold trading.
“The Ghana GoldBod is now the sole buyer and assayer of gold, with exclusive mandate to grant licenses to engage in the trade of gold from Ghana’s small-scale mining sector,” he stated.
Dr. Forson commended GoldBod’s early efforts and highlighted its contribution to economic stability.
“Distinguished members of the Board, I am pleased to observe that the GoldBod has already began to fulfil its object and has contributed immensely to the recent stability of the Ghana Cedi through gold reserve accumulation,” he remarked.
The restructuring is expected to not only streamline gold trading operations but also ensure Ghana maximises revenue from one of its most valuable natural resources.

Dr Daniel Armateye Anim is a business strategist and financial analyst
Business strategist and financial analyst Dr Daniel Armateye Anim has projected that the cedi may continue to appreciate against the US dollar into the third quarter of 2025.
According to him, the cedi’s current strength can largely be attributed to the ongoing global trade war, which has impacted economic flows, particularly in ways that have benefited Ghana.
In an interview with GhanaWeb Business, Dr Anim emphasised the significant impact the cedi’s performance could have on the broader economy.
He explained that the appreciation should not be misinterpreted as a sign of long-term strength. Instead, he urged the Bank of Ghana and the Ministry of Finance to take advantage of the current situation to boost foreign exchange reserves and attract more capital inflows.
“It is possible that the cedi may further appreciate into the third quarter of the 2025 fiscal year. This is mainly due to the ongoing global trade war, but it is a short-term mechanism that should be well understood by the Bank of Ghana and the Ministry of Finance. We need to leverage this to consolidate the gains by strengthening our reserves at the Bank of Ghana and ensuring we attract more inflows,” he said.
Dr Anim further warned that the cedi may begin to depreciate in the fourth quarter of 2025, citing several factors, including the resumption of debt repayments in 2026, which could put significant pressure on the central bank’s reserves.
“The fourth quarter is a peak season for traders and businesses to import more goods into the economy. As a result, there will be increased demand for the dollar, which will likely affect the Bank of Ghana’s reserves and, in turn, impact the value of the cedi,” he added.

Arsenal manager, Mikel Arteta (L) and ex-Chelsea midfielder Mikel Obi (R)
Former Nigerian footballer Mikel Obi has chastised Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta over his inability to win a major trophy for the club after six years.
He stated that the Spanish coach has not achieved the success expected of him, such as winning major trophies like the Premier League, UEFA Champions League, or any other European trophy.
The former Chelsea midfielder expressed his disappointment in Arteta for failing to clinch a substantial title despite spending about €700 million to buy players and build the team.
Speaking on beIN SPORTS, Obi called on Arteta to improve his team to win titles; otherwise, his job might be in danger if the situation remains the same in the 2025/2026 season.
“It’s about winning trophies. Yes, he got close, but he didn’t get them over the line. It’s the same thing. He always comes second. It’s always ‘next season’ for Arsenal. Now we’re talking again about next season, he wants to spend again in the summer.
“He’s actually spent €700 million to €800 million. That’s a lot of money over six years. So he has no excuses. For somebody who’s been there for that long and spent so much money and just won one FA Cup trophy, that’s not good enough,” he said.
The Arsenal manager has come under heavy backlash after going trophyless in the 2024/2025 season, losing the Premier League title to Liverpool and getting eliminated by Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in the Champions League.
Following his appointment as Arsenal coach in 2019, Arteta has won one FA Cup trophy and two Community Shield titles.

Akua GMB Stuns with Dramatic Transformation After Cosmetic Procedure
News Hub Creator7min
Dr. Kwaku Oteng’s former wife, Akua GMB, has become the talk of social media after unveiling a striking new look following a cosmetic enhancement. The businesswoman and media personality, known for her previous marriage to the Adonko Bitters mogul, showcased her transformed appearance in photos that quickly went viral. Shared on her Instagram handle @iamakuaamoakowaa, the images reveal a noticeably refined facial structure that has sparked both admiration and debate among fans and followers.
While Akua has not publicly disclosed the exact nature of her cosmetic procedure, beauty experts speculate it may involve facial contouring treatments or subtle surgical enhancements. The transformation marks a bold new chapter for the entrepreneur, who has maintained a relatively low profile since her high-profile divorce. Her radiant post-procedure glow and confident demeanor in the photos suggest she’s embracing this personal reinvention with positivity and self-assurance.
Public reaction to Akua’s new look has been mixed, with many praising her beauty and courage to make personal changes, while others question the growing trend of cosmetic alterations among Ghanaian celebrities. Supporters argue that as a successful businesswoman in her own right, Akua has every right to make choices about her appearance without public scrutiny. The discussion has sparked broader conversations about beauty standards, self-image, and the pressures faced by women in the public eye.
As the photos continue circulating online, Akua GMB’s transformation serves as another example of how Ghana’s elite are increasingly embracing cosmetic enhancements. Whether viewed as empowerment or conformity to societal beauty ideals, her new look undeniably makes a statement. With her increased visibility, all eyes will be on what this next phase holds for the stylish entrepreneur beyond her physical transformation.
Management of the Nsawam Medium Security Prisons in the Eastern Region has appealed to the government for financial support to clear mounting debts owed to drug suppliers and National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS).
According to authorities, the facility currently owes GH₵506,000 in NHIS claims and an additional GH₵200,000 to drug suppliers for medication provided to inmates. Due to the financial strain, some officers have had to rely on personal funds to address inmates’ medical needs.
This dire situation was revealed by the Eastern Regional Prisons Commander, Deputy Director of Prisons (DDP) Patrick Thomas Seidu, during a visit by the Human Rights Committee of Parliament to the facility on Monday, May 19.
“As of the last audit, we are owing in excess of GH₵200,000 for drugs that were supplied to inmates without payment. We also have problems with the Auditor-General; they are also writing that we should let it go and write to the Ministry of Finance and Parliament to let them know, because who pays for that?” he said.
Beyond the financial crisis, DDP Seidu also highlighted a critical legal challenge facing inmates: the lack of access to legal aid for those wishing to appeal their sentences. He described the absence of such support as a serious human rights gap in the justice system.
“We do not have any legal aid in Nsawam. If in Accra there are few, how many can you ask to come here and handle certain cases? So that alone is even a challenge. They are here, but they cannot appeal. They want to, but they can’t because the avenues are not there. We have become their relatives and family, so any challenge they face is directed to us,” he explained.
Responding to the concerns, Ranking Member of the Human Rights Committee, James Agalga, described the situation as regrettable and called on the government to act swiftly in clearing the medical debts. He stressed that preserving the rights and dignity of inmates includes access to healthcare.
“The idea of bringing people here is to reform them so that when they return, they can be better people in society. But if they are taken here for incarceration, and we are not proactive in extending health services to them, then it is unfortunate. So it is an area we need to pay particular attention to,” Agalga stated.
On the issue of poor nutrition, Agalga disclosed that the Finance Minister is expected to review the current GH₵1.80 daily feeding grant per inmate during the upcoming mid-year budget review.
The Acting Managing Director of Ghana Water Limited, Hon. Adam Mutawakilu, has dismissed claims that he defended Mr. Adu-Boahene, the former head of the National Signals Bureau, over the contentious GHC 1.3 million monthly payments made by the utility company to National Security as per reports from MyNewsGH.
In a statement released by his Executive Secretary, Kudus Gbeadese, Mutawakilu clarified that his recent interview on TV3’s Hot Issues was misrepresented by some media outlets, particularly The Daily Gist.
The MD emphasized, “At no point during that interview did I defend Mr. Adu-Boahene.”
Instead, he said his intention was to “provide clarity on the matter based on the facts available,” which align with information previously disclosed by the Attorney General.
Mutawakilu expressed disappointment over how his remarks were portrayed on TV3’s Facebook page and in subsequent reports, which he described as a “deliberate twist.”
He specifically refuted the claim that he said the payments were made directly to Mr. Adu-Boahene, clarifying that “the GHC 1.3 million payments were made to National Security, not to Mr. Adu-Boahene.”
The Acting MD explained that Ghana Water Limited entered into a contractual agreement with National Security in 2018 to receive internet services.
This contract was with the institution, not any individual. He added that Mr. Adu-Boahene, while leading the National Signals Bureau at the time, facilitated the process on behalf of National Security.
This statement seeks to correct misconceptions and underline that the payments were part of an institutional agreement rather than a personal transaction.
Former Finance Minister, Dr Mohammed Amin Adam, has advised Ghana against imposing retaliatory tariffs on the United States, warning that such a move could backfire on the domestic economy and derail recent gains in economic recovery.
Speaking at the UPSA National Dialogue on Monday, 19 May, Dr Adam addressed concerns over rising global protectionism following new tariffs imposed by the US on several Ghanaian imports. While acknowledging the negative impact on local exporters, he urged caution.
“We are in the era of trade wars because of the tariffs imposed by the United States of America,” Dr Adam stated.
“Tariffs on imports from Ghana reduce the competitiveness of Made-in-Ghana products in the US market. But reducing the profitability of Ghanaian exporters also means reducing tax revenue for our country.”
The former minister explained that while countries like China and Canada have responded with reciprocal duties, Ghana should not follow the same path.
“Our total export to the US is about 2% of GDP, with non-exempt exports under the new US tariffs standing at 0.4%,” he said. “The effect is therefore very limited, particularly on our international trade position, which has largely supported our recent recovery.”
Dr Adam warned that introducing counter-tariffs would increase the cost of US imports, a move that could have unintended consequences for Ghanaian consumers.
“A reciprocal tariff on imports from the US will increase the cost of US exports to Ghana,” he explained.
He further highlighted Ghana’s consumption patterns, emphasising the strong local demand for imported goods, particularly from the United States.
“Given the obsession in Ghana for imported products, this will reduce the disposable income of Ghanaians, thus leading to lower consumption and lower tax revenue.”
Dr Adam concluded by stressing that Ghana’s economic interest lies in maintaining a stable trade environment rather than escalating tensions with major partners.

Ghana’s athletics history was rewritten on Saturday as 19-year-old Joseph Taylor stormed to a record-breaking victory in the men’s 400m at the 2025 ACC Outdoor Championships in Atlanta.
Competing for Duke University, the freshman clocked an astonishing 44.98 seconds to win the race, smashing the long-standing national record of 45.13 seconds set by Ibrahim Hassan in 1996.
In doing so, Taylor became the first Ghanaian athlete to break the 45-second barrier in the quarter-mile event—a monumental achievement for both the sprinter and the nation.
The milestone performance unfolded at the George C. Griffin Track and was officially confirmed in the meet results published by Flash Results.

The family of the late President Jerry John Rawlings has expressed deep appreciation to the government and people of Burkina Faso for naming a major street in Ouagadougou after the former Ghanaian President.
The tribute, unveiled on Sunday, May 18, 2025, was described by the family as a powerful recognition of Rawlings’s enduring legacy in the struggle for social justice and Pan-African solidarity.
In a statement signed by Ms. Yaa Asantewaa Agyeman-Rawlings on behalf of the family and the JJ Rawlings Foundation, the family extended their “sincere appreciation” to Burkina Faso’s transitional government, particularly Prime Minister Dr Apollinaire Joachimson Kyélèm de Tambèla, for the “profound honour.”
“This is a moving tribute not just to the legacy of our father, but to the enduring bonds of solidarity that unite Ghana and Burkina Faso,” the statement read. “We are immensely grateful that the name Jerry John Rawlings will now live on in the heart of Ouagadougou.”
The family said the recognition was a reminder of Rawlings’s historic relationship with the late Captain Thomas Sankara, with whom he shared a vision of African self-reliance, dignity, and justice. “This honour affirms their brotherhood and mutual commitment to an Africa free from oppression and poverty,” the statement noted.

The newly named avenue runs from Avenue Jean-Paul II to Boulevard Capitaine Thomas Sankara, symbolically connecting two figures celebrated for their revolutionary ideals.
The family further commended the government for the inauguration of a mausoleum in memory of Sankara and his twelve fallen comrades, describing the gesture as an “act of justice and remembrance that restores dignity to the past and hope to the future.”
Concluding, the Rawlings family reiterated their commitment to upholding the ideals of their late patriarch through the work of the JJ Rawlings Foundation, pledging to continue promoting leadership, integrity, and Pan-Africanism. “May this avenue stand not only as a tribute but as a reminder of the values both men fought for,” the statement affirmed.

Artiste manager and entertainment pundit Bullgod has voiced his disapproval of a congratulatory message made by Vida Adutwumwaa, the Public Relations Officer for Stonebwoy’s Burniton Music Group, following the 2025 Telecel Ghana Music Awards (TGMA).
Adutwumwaa’s congratulatory message to King Promise, which read, “Congratulations King Promise, stay consistent. At least we’ve shown how it’s done,” sparked controversy among fans and industry stakeholders.
In a submission on United Showbiz on UTV, Bullgod, cited his experience, stating that it would be disrespectful to downplay the efforts of fellow artistes.
“We never disrespected Stonebwoy throughout the campaign. Why? Because we know what it takes to put out a record. So we cannot step on anybody’s toes or just say anything to belittle them.
“You can only say what you see or say what you believe will happen. But no insults,” he said.
He further criticized the tone of Adutwumwaa’s message, stating it could foster unnecessary tension between Stonebwoy and King Promise.
“So when you make a post stating, ‘We have shown you the way.’ That is what I have a problem with.
“It’s not good. It’s toxic. And you are creating enmity between the two artistes,” he added.
He called on Stonebwoy to address such issues within his team to prevent misinterpretations of his character.
This incident follows previous speculations about a rift between Stonebwoy and King Promise, particularly after Stonebwoy did not respond to King Promise’s congratulatory message following the 2024 TGMA.
Stonebwoy later clarified that the oversight was unintentional and that there was no bad blood between them.

This incident follows a recent shooting at the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Senior High School, where a second-year student, Suzzy Pinamang, was allegedly shot in the eye by another student who brought a firearm to class and accidentally discharged it.
She is currently in the UK undergoing emergency medical treatment, with the full cost being covered by Ibrahim Mahama, Special Aide to Rafik Mahama.
The decision to seek treatment abroad followed recommendations by doctors at the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital (KATH), who indicated that she required specialist care unavailable locally.

The Cocoa Development Advocacy Platform (CDAP) has called on the government to decisively address the widening price gap between Ghanaian and Ivorian cocoa, warning that the disparity is fueling cross-border smuggling and threatening the country’s cocoa sector.
According to a statement by CDAP, while cocoa prices in Côte d’Ivoire stood at the equivalent of GH¢3,113 per bag at the end of 2024 just GH¢13 higher than Ghana’s GH¢3,100.
Meanwhile, the West African neighbor has since raised its farmgate price to GH¢3,767.29 per bag.
This, the association believe has created a sharp price difference of GH¢667.29 incentivising Ghanaian cocoa farmers to smuggle their produce across the border in search of better earnings.
“This development threatens the integrity of Ghana’s cocoa value chain and risks undermining the country’s cocoa revenue base. We urge the government to act swiftly and decisively to protect the livelihoods of our farmers and the future of our cocoa industry,”
The platform is also calling on government to fulfill its longstanding commitment to pay farmers 70% of the prevailing world market price for cocoa.
When combined with the $25 Living Income Differential (LID) per bag, CDAP argues this would ensure farmers receive a fair and sustainable farmgate price of approximately GHS 6,000 per bag.
According to CDAP such a pricing model is essential for addressing the deep-seated issues of poverty and exploitation within Ghana’s cocoa sector.
The group also warned that failure to act could result in broader social and economic consequences, including declining productivity, rural poverty, and increased rural-urban migration.
CDAP stressed that the current disparities in pricing have already led to rampant smuggling, which erodes state revenue and undermines the long-term viability of the cocoa sector.
