‘Bold’ Ghanaian-American Judge Maame Frimpong Blocks Trump Immigration Raids

0

U.S. District Judge Maame Ewusi-Mensah Frimpong, a judge of Ghanaian descent, has issued a sweeping order halting key Trump-era practices in Los Angeles County, citing constitutional violations and racial profiling.

Judge Frimpong, who presides over the Central District of California, ruled that the use of “roving patrols” by ICE agents without reasonable suspicion violated the Fourth Amendment’s protections against unlawful searches and seizures.

Partial solar eclipse to be visible across Ghana on August 2, 2027

0

Parts of North Africa, the Middle East and southern Europe are expected to witness a rare total solar eclipse on Monday, August 2, 2027, with some locations experiencing total darkness for up to six minutes.

The eclipse will pass through a narrow corridor measuring between 258 and 275 kilometres wide.

It will begin over the Atlantic Ocean and move across southern Spain and Gibraltar, through Morocco, Algeria, Tunisia, Libya and Egypt, and continue into Saudi Arabia, Yemen and Somalia. The point of maximum darkness will be near Luxor in Egypt, where the Moon is expected to block out the Sun for six minutes and 22 seconds.

Although Ghana will not experience total darkness, residents across the country will be able to observe a partial eclipse. In Akuse, for instance, the event will start at 08:39 GMT, peak at 09:05 GMT with around 4.8 per cent obscuration, and end at 09:31 GMT.

This rare astronomical alignment is made possible because the Earth will be at aphelion, its farthest point from the Sun, while the Moon will be at perigee, its closest point to Earth.

This makes the Moon appear slightly larger than usual and capable of covering the Sun completely for longer than typical eclipses.

Astronomers note that the August eclipse will be the longest total solar eclipse visible from land between the years 1991 and 2114. It is expected to draw large crowds in areas along the path of totality.

In Ghana, although the eclipse will be partial, the event is still expected to attract attention from sky-watchers. Experts have advised the public to use certified solar filters to view the eclipse safely. Looking at the Sun without proper protection, even during a partial eclipse, can result in permanent eye damage.

The partial eclipse will be visible across Ghana between 08:40 and 09:30 GMT. Residents in Accra, Kumasi, Tamale and other towns will notice the Moon covering a small portion of the Sun.

While it will not be as dramatic as the total eclipse expected in Egypt and other countries, it remains a rare and memorable phenomenon for local observers.

Viewers are advised not to use regular sunglasses or improvised methods, which do not provide adequate protection. Public science institutions and astronomy clubs in Ghana are expected to organise safe viewing sessions and public education activities to help residents observe the eclipse safely.

Don’t alienate Kufuor, Akufo-Addo, you need them – NDC to NPP

0

The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has urged the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to fully embrace and engage its two former presidents, John Agyekum Kufuor and Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, as the party navigates its internal restructuring following its National Delegates Conference.

Ludwig Hlordze, Director of Logistics and Protocol for the NDC, made the call during a message of solidarity during the party’s National Delegates Conference on Saturday July 19, stressing the need for the NPP to consult and utilise the experience of its past leaders in order to rebuild into a stronger and more effective opposition force.

“We hope that after this conference your party will appreciate the importance of having two former presidents among you and continuously, adequately consult them to help build your party strong,” Hlordze stated.

“Don’t alienate them outside the box. They need you, you need them to be able to bring a strong opposition party.”

He emphasised that party unity and institutional memory are vital for the NPP’s reconstruction efforts and for the broader health of Ghana’s democracy.

According to him, the former presidents carry institutional wisdom that should not be sidelined in the rebuilding process.

“We hope after your deliberation at this conference you will come out a stronger opposition party in your reconstruction effort. Unity is key. Ghana needs a stronger opposition party to enhance our democracy,” he added.

Hlordze concluded his remarks with a strong appeal for party cohesion, warning against factionalism and division at a time when the NPP must reorganize for the future.

“We hope that after this conference you will leave here united and not divided.”

Belgrade, no deal for 100,000 workers from Ghana – Politics

0

Serbian Foreign Minister Marko
Djuric, who is visiting Ghana, has denied reports in some media
and social networks that an agreement has been signed for the
entry of 100,000 workers from the African country into Serbia.

In statements to Tanjug, the minister spoke of manipulations
directed at stirring tensions and social divisions. According to
him, what the Ghanaian foreign minister said about work permits
that Serbia plans to grant to foreign nationals was
misinterpreted. Djuric pointed out that Serbia, for the needs of
its economy and agriculture has for years been cooperating with
a number of countries in the region but also in other parts of
the world, largely for the employment of seasonal workers. Last
year, he pointed out, for such workers, Belgrade granted a total
of almost 80,000 visas to citizens of various countries.

Kofi Bentil slams clergy on National Cathedral Board

Kofi Bentil is the Vice President of IMANI Africa Kofi Bentil is the Vice President of IMANI Africa

Vice President of IMANI Africa, Kofi Bentil, has condemned the involvement and complicity of some prominent clergymen in the financial mismanagement of the National Cathedral project, stating that they will never be forgiven or forgotten for their role in the scandal.

Speaking on JoyNews’ Newsfile on July 19, 2025, and monitored by GhanaWeb, Bentil expressed disappointment that some revered religious leaders lent their credibility to a project that has now become a symbol of waste and opacity.

“We have great respect for our Reverend Ministers, but we said it before. We said, ‘Do not lend your Bible, your customs, and your scholars to these politicians who are embarking on an ill-faith and godless journey.’ We said it would cause problems. I don’t doubt that some of the Reverend Ministers were not corrupt, I still respect them,” he stated.

He added, “But for lending themselves to this, for not speaking truth to power, and for not standing for what I believe they knew was not exactly right, they will never be forgotten, they will never be forgiven. History will show that, at a point like this, they supported wrongdoing in the name of God and cost this country almost $100 million. They tore down buildings and left behind holes.”

The National Cathedral project has long been the subject of public debate and scrutiny since its inception under the Akufo-Addo administration.

It is currently under investigation by the ORAL Committee, and recent audits show that $94 million has already been spent, despite no completed structure.

President Mahama suspends CSA boss over use of unauthorised military bodyguard

President John Dramani Mahama has suspended the Director-General of the National Cyber Security Authority (NCSA), Divine Selasi Agbeti, for two weeks over alleged misconduct involving a uniformed military officer.

Agbeti is alleged to have used the military officer as a personal bodyguard during public appearances without obtaining the necessary clearance. The action has raised concerns about protocol breaches and national security procedures.

According to a citinewsroom.com report, a letter signed by Dr Callistus Mahama, Secretary to the President, and dated July 15, 2025, conveyed the presidency’s strong disapproval of Agbeti’s actions, describing his conduct as “inappropriate and embarrassing to the government.”

Defence Minister Dr Omane Boamah had earlier issued a directive warning state officials against using military personnel as personal bodyguards without official clearance.

Government insiders suggest that further disciplinary action could be taken depending on the outcome of ongoing internal investigations.

Agbeti was appointed Director-General of the NCSA in March 2025, succeeding Dr Albert Antwi-Boasiako, who had led the authority since its establishment in 2017.

Semenyo explains decision to extend Bournemouth contract despite interest from top clubs

Antoine Semenyo has extended his Bournemouth contract until 2030 Antoine Semenyo has extended his Bournemouth contract until 2030

Ghanaian midfielder Antoine Semenyo has explained that the comfort and sense of belonging he feels at Bournemouth played a key role in his decision to extend his contract with the club until 2030.

He noted that the opportunities offered by the Premier League side have greatly satisfied him, and he would not want to risk making a move that could derail his development as a footballer.

In an interview with Sky Sports aired on July 20, 2025, Semenyo expressed delight over his contract extension, despite strong interest from top European clubs.

“I mean, when you go somewhere, you want to feel wanted, and I didn’t feel that elsewhere. So, this was my safe place. I felt wanted, and it’s good to be back. So, yeah, it feels great. I think I just want to be playing,” he said.

The Black Stars midfielder further emphasised his desire to remain injury-free so he can contribute effectively to Bournemouth’s success in the 2025/2026 season.

“I want to be playing injury-free. I think that’s the most important thing for me, and we’ve got a good group here, and we’re wanting to achieve great things this year. So, it’s still the best place to be right now,” he added.

Semenyo was one of Bournemouth’s standout performers in the 2024/2025 Premier League season, scoring 11 goals and providing five assists in 35 appearances.

Prior to his contract renewal, the midfielder was linked with moves to Manchester United, Tottenham Hotspur, and other top European clubs.

London is open to trade

0

The mayor defended the trip as a way of promoting the capital to emerging markets The mayor defended the trip as a way of promoting the capital to emerging markets

Three countries and five cities in six days. London’s mayor has certainly put a few miles on the clock in the past week in Africa.

Sir Sadiq Khan is the first mayor of the capital to go on a trade mission there – taking in Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa.

With him were about 30 businesses and representatives from London and Partners – the capital’s so called growth agency that aims to attract investment here.

Like previous mayors Ken Livingstone and Boris Johnson, who went on similar trade missions, he has faced criticism from opponents for spending time out of London when there’s plenty to do here.

Also like previous mayors, Sir Sadiq has defended the trip as a way of promoting the capital to emerging markets.

So what has he been up to on the whistle-stop tour?

The trip started in Nigeria’s biggest city, Lagos – and provided a chance to catch up with a number of firms from the city’s growing tech sector. The message from Sir Sadiq was a clear one: partner up with London’s tech firms – come and do business with us.

Echoes perhaps of the drive during Covid when we were constantly told – “London is open”.

It was a message he repeated as he moved on to Accra in Ghana.

Talking to students there he chose to fire a barbed message to his Labour colleagues in government – criticising proposals that could see universities having to pay a levy on international students’ fees.

Sir Sadiq talked of “the immense value international students bring to London and the UK” – and warned that “closing our country to global talent would be a pointless act of immense economic self-harm”.

The mayor followed that up with the promise of the first business summit between Africa and London – to be held in the capital next year.

John Dickie, the CEO of BusinessLDN, welcomed this pledge and backed the mayor’s trip to Africa, saying: “London is a melting pot of communities, workers and businesses from across the globe.

“The mayor is absolutely right to bang the drum for closer ties with key high-growth markets. Boosting trade and investment links with the likes of Nigeria, Ghana and South Africa will benefit Londoners.”

As the tour started, the Conservative MP and shadow chancellor Mel Stride had suggested that the mayor should be back in London with “his hand on the tiller”, addressing issues like shoplifting that affect small businesses.

While BBC London is not on the current mayor’s tour of Africa, I have been on similar ventures with Sir Sadiq and his predecessors Boris Johnson and Ken Livingstone.

What is interesting is the way they are generally greeted – the fact that being mayor of London is seen as a prestigious role – that London is regarded as a genuinely global city.

It can often be at odds with how they are viewed by the people in their own city.

There have, of course, been mishaps along the way. Livingstone’s trip to Venezuela to meet president Hugo Chavez only made it as far as Cuba.

And when he was mayor Johnson had to cancel a planned visit to the West Bank after fears of protests.

Despite that, the visits will continue whoever is mayor – as will the rows over whether such trade missions bring real value to London.

Diana Asamoah Shows Compassion and Hope for Jailed Evangelist Nana Agradaa

News Hub Creator13min

Renowned Ghanaian gospel artist Diana Asamoah has openly voiced her empathy and spiritual support for incarcerated evangelist Patricia Asiedua, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, encouraging hope and personal renewal in the face of her legal setbacks.

Nana Agradaa is currently serving a 15-year sentence at Nsawam Female Prison following her conviction on fraud-related charges connected to her religious ministry. Her case has stirred widespread public criticism, with many expressing disappointment in her actions. However, Asamoah is calling on Ghanaians to look beyond the controversy and consider the potential for inner transformation.

In a recent interview, the vocal gospel musician shared her intentions to visit Agradaa in prison, stating her strong belief in second chances and spiritual redemption. “There is still hope for Nana Agradaa,” she noted. “I’ve made it clear that I plan to go and remind her that her journey doesn’t end here.”

Asamoah stressed that the evangelist’s current situation shouldn’t define her entire life story. She believes that this challenging period could become a turning point for spiritual growth and renewal. According to her, with genuine repentance, Agradaa could emerge a reformed individual ready to positively contribute to society.

She further explained that what is most important now is how Agradaa chooses to confront her reality—and whether the public will be open-hearted enough to embrace her transformation, should it come. Asamoah’s words have since reignited conversations around forgiveness, faith, and the importance of giving people another chance to change.

Her act of kindness and faith serves as a powerful reminder that even in moments of disgrace, healing and restoration are possible through sincere reflection and a renewed spirit.

Israel kills more aid seekers in Gaza, issues evacuation threat

0

At least 25 people, including 19 aid seekers, have been killed in a fresh wave of Israeli attacks across the Gaza Strip, according to a report by Al Jazeera on Sunday, July 20.

The strikes come amid intensifying hostilities and a new evacuation threat issued by Israeli forces, further compounding the already dire humanitarian situation in the enclave.

In a separate incident, two more Palestinians, including a 35-day-old infant, have died from malnutrition at Gaza City’s al-Shifa Hospital. Their deaths underscore the worsening health crisis as food and medical supplies remain critically scarce.

Meanwhile, in Tel Aviv, tens of thousands of Israelis took to the streets in a mass protest, calling for an end to the war. Demonstrators urged U.S. President Donald Trump to help broker a deal to bring home the remaining captives believed to be held in Gaza, estimated at 50 individuals.

Since the war in October 2023, Israeli military operations in Gaza have killed at least 58,765 people and wounded 140,485, according to the report. On the Israeli side, an estimated 1,139 people were killed during the Hamas-led attack on October 7, with more than 200 taken captive.

You’ve kept to the objective – Chief of Staff Julius Debrah hails MGL

0

Chief of Staff of the Republic of Ghana, Julius Debrah, has lauded the Multimedia Group for its immense contribution to Ghana’s media landscape, describing the organisation as a “pacesetter” that has remained true to its founding objectives.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with JoySports’ Muftawu Nabila Abdulai ahead of the JoySports Invitational Tournament, scheduled for August 9, 2025, at the University of Ghana Stadium, he noted that the company’s commitment to objectivity has been the bedrock of its longevity and success.

“This might sound controversial, but I must say that pacesetters are usually the newsmakers, and Multimedia [Group Limited], we all know, started long ago and you’ve kept to the objective,” he noted.

In an era where media neutrality is constantly under scrutiny, Mr Debrah highlighted the Multimedia Group’s unwavering stance as a key factor that has sustained its reputation.

“One thing I like about Multimedia is that, as much as possible, they try to be very objective — and that’s what has sustained the brand. If you were to be extremely political, you’d be there, but you wouldn’t be up there the way we see you,” he remarked.

The Chief of Staff’s words come as a fitting tribute to the Multimedia Group’s legacy — a company that, since its inception in 1995, has consistently championed independent, fearless, and credible journalism, that has shaped public discourse, and nurtured some of Ghana’s finest broadcasting talents.

He ended with a note of optimism for the future, encouraging the company to remain steadfast in its mission.

“Let me use this opportunity to congratulate you and to encourage you to keep doing what you’re doing right. And maybe, in a few years to come, we will celebrate your centenary.”

The JoySports Invitational Tournament will take place at the University of Ghana Stadium on August 9, 2025.

Mr Debrah will take part in the aerobics and take the ceremonial kick-off of the event.

Tribalism and religious bigotry pose an existential threat to NPP – Bawumia

0

Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, the 2024 presidential candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has said tribalism and religious bigotry pose an existential threat to the NPP and should not have a place within the party.

Speaking at the NPP’s National Delegates Conference held on Saturday, July 19, Dr Bawumia stated, “Let me say tribalism and religious bigotry from whichever quarters they emanate pose an existential threat and should have no place in the New Patriotic Party,” he advised.

Gomashie hails Mahama as Blekusu sea defence project resumes

0

The Member of Parliament for Ketu South and Minister for Tourism, Culture and Creative Arts, Ms Abla Dzifa Gomashie, says the launch of Phase II of the Blekusu Coastal Protection Project is a response to years of devastation and unanswered appeals from affected communities along the eastern Volta coastline.

Speaking at the sod-cutting ceremony held at Blekusu on Saturday, July 20, 2025, Ms Gomashie said the start of the long-delayed project showed that President John Dramani Mahama had listened to the concerns of her constituents, who have endured years of destruction caused by tidal waves.

“I chose not to shout because I knew that when he hears me call, he’ll pick it,” she said. “Finally, the day has come. And in between those days, years, and months when I cry, there’s one person who always responds, and that is His Excellency John Dramani Mahama.”

Communities including Blekusu, Salakope, Agavedzi and Amutsinu have experienced repeated tidal destruction over the years.

The floods have displaced families, destroyed homes and property, and disrupted livelihoods along the coast.

Phase One of the sea defence project was completed in 2015, but the second phase stalled for nearly a decade.

Ms Gomashie, who has consistently called for urgent intervention, said the start of the second phase marked the end of a painful period of neglect.

“I was only shouting because those who were in charge of this country refused to pay attention to me and my people,” she told a gathering that included President Mahama, traditional leaders and residents of the affected towns.

The second phase of the project will cover eight kilometres of coastal defence and is expected to be completed over a four-year period. It will be undertaken by Amandi Holdings Limited under the supervision of the Ghana Hydrological Authority.

The works include shoreline stabilisation, dune restoration, and the construction of supporting infrastructure such as a fish market, cold storage facilities, a lorry park, and public sanitation units.

Ms Gomashie said the intervention would protect homes and help restore livelihoods and social stability in the flood-prone area.

President Mahama cut the sod to mark the official start of construction and assured the community that the project would be completed as planned.

NPP approves 54 motions at 2025 Delegates Conference

0

Delegates of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) have approved 54 motions from a comprehensive list aimed at strengthening the party’s structure and policies as it prepares for the 2028 presidential and parliamentary elections.

The motions were adopted during the National Delegates Conference held in Accra on Saturday, July 19, 2025, reflecting the party’s commitment to internal democracy and progressive reform.

These motions cover a wide range of issues, including constitutional amendments, electoral reforms, grassroots empowerment, policy development, and party governance.

However, delegates firmly rejected two key proposed constitutional amendments, Motion 17 and Motion 54, signaling strong resistance to changes perceived as undermining grassroots structures and youth representation within the party.

Motion 17, which sought to amend Article 7(30) of the NPP Constitution, proposed empowering Regional Executive Committees to appoint individuals, excluding Polling Station, Electoral Area, and Constituency Officers, to supervise polling station and electoral area elections.

In a decisive voice vote, delegates rejected the proposal, with many arguing that maintaining constituency-level oversight preserves grassroots accountability and protects the autonomy of local party structures.

Motion 54 met a similar fate. It proposed amending Article 15(4) of the Constitution to redefine “youth” in the party as any member “not above the age of 35,” aligning with international and national standards.

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah cited benchmarks from the UN, WHO, UNICEF, and the African Youth Charter, all of which define youth as individuals aged between 15 and 35.

Ghana’s National Youth Authority Act, however, defines the youth bracket as those between 15 and 25.

Read the 54 motions accepted below:

1. MOTION ONE Article 1 Amend article 1 of the Constitution to include the Party’s Motto, Symbol and Colours.

[The absence of the Party’s Motto, Symbol and Colours in the Constitution is an obvious omission and ought to be rectified. The Party’s Motto, Symbol and Colours must find expression in the Party’s Constitution.]

2. MOTION TWO Article 3(7) Amend article 3(7) of the Constitution to give the power to recommend suspension of a Member or an office holder pending disciplinary action against him to the appropriate Disciplinary Committee rather than the Executive Committee.

[The amendment is necessary to ensure justified suspension of party executives (elected and appointed) by Executive Committees, only upon recommendation by the Disciplinary Committee, pending disciplinary proceedings against such Officers. It is the Disciplinary Committee that shall recommend suspension having regard to its preliminary findings.

3. MOTION THREE Article 4(3)(7) Amend article 4(3)(7) of the Constitution to allow for a complaint against any Constituency or Regional Officer, whether elected or appointed, to be filed at; (i) in the case of the Constituency Officer, the Regional Executive Committee and (ii) in the case of the Regional Officer, the National Executive Committee.

[The amendment seeks to achieve fair and equal treatment or handling of disciplinary matters involving ‘elected officers’ and ‘appointed officers’ who are at the same level of the Party by providing that they should be dealt with by the same Disciplinary Committee.]

4. MOTION FOUR Article 5(6) Amend article 5(6) of the Constitution to adopt the Electoral Commission of Ghana’s demarcation/cluster of Electoral Areas.

[The EC’s Electoral Area systems are pre-determined, bereft of controversies and involves more polling stations than the party’s demarcations of Electoral Area. The current provision in the Party’s constitution is that where polling stations under an Electoral Area exceed ten(10), an additional Electoral Area may be created. This lack of certainty and exactitude has triggered misunderstandings in the creation of some Electoral Areas. The adoption of the EC’s Electoral Area system cures any such misunderstanding or perceived mischief.]

5. MOTION FIVE Article 6- new provision mischief.] Amend article 6 of the Constitution to provide for an Electoral Area Executive Committee structure made up of five (5) members who shall all be elected comprising the Electoral Area Chairperson, Secretary,Organiser, Communications Officer and Electoral Affairs Officer.

[The current system requires limited expansion to allow for increased participation and support in the management of the electoral areas. A 5- member Committee enhances operational capacity and ensures a more inclusive and structured approach to supervising polling station activities.]

6. MOTION SIX Article 6(1) Amend article 6(1) of the Constitution to increase the Polling Station Executives from five (5) to seven (7) who are all to be elected compromising the Chairperson, Secretary, Organiser, Women’s Organiser, Youth Organiser, Communications Officer and Electoral Affairs Officer. [The Committee recommends one man one vote (OMOV) system as a long term electoral framework for the Party. In the absence of the foundational structures for the OMOV electoral system, the proposed limited expansion (representing 40% rise) at the polling station level is more more realistic and manageable. It has the effect of increasing the electoral college considerably while the Party works on’ the recommended OMOV system.]

7. MOTION SEVEN Articles 6(1); 7(2); 9(1); 10(7)(3) Amend article 6(1), 7(2), 9(1) & 10(7)(3) of the Constitution to split/decouple the position of Research and Electoral Affairs Officer at the Constituency, Regional and Nationals levels of the Party. [The amendment brings the needed focus and attention to each of the two responsibilities. Also, it is not every researcher who understands electoral matters and vice versa. Therefore, separating the positions and appointing people with the requisite expertise to occupy the respective positions will inure to the Party’s benefit.]

8. MOTION EIGHT Article 7(2) Amend article 7(2) of the Constitution to include the Constituency Research Officer, Electoral Affairs Officer and PWD Coordinator on the Constituency Executive Committee.

[This represents a limited expansion of the Constituency Executive Committee and seeks to promote inclusivity and broader participation in Party activities at the Constituency level.]

9. MOTION NINE Articles 7(5); 9(2); 10(7)(3) Amend articles 7(5), 9(2) & 10(7)(3) of the Constitution to make Communication Officers at all levels of the Party elected from the Polling Station, Electoral Area, Constituency, Regional and at the National level. At the National level, the Communication Officer shall be the Director of Communications.

[The appointment of Communication Officers has, in many instances, been fraught with a lot of challenges occasioned by perceptions of favouritism and lack of candour. Making the positions elective will afford the Party delegates to select persons they think can best communicate for the Party. For the avoidance of doubt, the Deputy Directors of Communications shall remain appointed.]

10. MOTION TEN Articles 7(10); 9(7) Amend articles 7(10) & 9(7) of the Constitution to prevent Party Officers who get appointed into government from continuing to hold their offices. [Party officers who are appointed to government should not be allowed to hold dual positions. So long as they have accepted the appointment to serve in government, they should focus on their mandate in government and give an opportunity for other competent Party members to occupy their positions in the Party. It is also in line with the provisions in clause 10 of article 7 & clause 7 of article 9, which are intended to ensure that government appointees do not hold Constituency, Regional and National Executive offices.]

11. MOTION ELEVEN Articles 7(26); 9(24) Amend articles 7(26) & 9(24) of the Constitution to provide that any vacancy that may occur for whatever reason in the case of the constituency secretary and the regional secretary shall automatically be filled by the Deputy Constituency and Deputy Regional Secretary.

[The Deputy Constituency and Deputy Regional Secretaries, just like the substantive Constituency and Regional Secretaries, are also elected by the same delegates at the same Conference. The Deputy Secretaries should be able to occupy the positions of the substantive Secretaries in the absence of the latter.]

12. MOTION TWELVE Article 7(27) Amend article 7(27) of the Constitution to give voting rights to National and Regional Officers at the Constituency Delegates Conference at the Constituency they hail from.

Mobile phone dealers threaten action over foreigners in retail markets

The Mobile Phone and Accessories Dealers Association of Ghana has raised concerns over the increasing presence of foreigners in the retail market.

Eric Gyamfi, Chairman of the Association, stated that foreigners have taken over their retail activities, causing significant problems for local dealers.

Speaking on Frontline on Rainbow Radio 87.5FM, he noted an increase in criminal activities, which he claims are mostly influenced by foreigners.

He said, “When you encounter five thieves, four of them are foreigners, and that’s creating a serious challenge for us. Our retail market has been affected to the extent that the police have flagged the Circle phone and accessories market as a red zone.

“The situation is terrible, and we want to correct it and restore our image. We are therefore appealing to authorities to enforce the laws and prevent foreigners from operating in the retail market.”

He also lamented that these foreigners, particularly Nigerians, have taken over the repair market, creating uncomfortable situations for Ghanaian dealers.

He added that the Chinese have also begun to dominate the business, to the point where they are directly competing with Ghanaian retailers.

“These Chinese will sell a product to a wholesaler for Ghc10 and later open a retail store, selling the same product at Ghc9 as a retail price. This situation is destroying our businesses and affecting our capital. We don’t hate anyone, but we are only interested in having the law enforced so that foreigners will not engage in retail and tabletop businesses,” he stated.

He accused the foreigners of bringing inferior goods into the Ghanaian market and using unapproved routes to enter the country.

Eric Gyamfi maintained that they want authorities to deal with the situation before it escalates, or they will “advise themselves” (implying they will take their own action).

“The relevant enforcement agencies should take immediate action. We are exasperated with the presence of foreigners in our retail market. We are advocating for justice and seeking government assistance in our endeavor.

“If they fail to address the situation, we will take matters into our own hands and address the foreign presence. We want them to vacate our markets. If existing laws are not being enforced by our authorities, then we will take necessary measures to address our concerns.”

Fashion Inspirations for African Queens

0

African fashion is known for its vibrancy, creativity, and rich cultural heritage. It celebrates the beauty of bold prints, vibrant colors, and intricate designs that tell a story. From traditional attire to modern, chic styles, African ladies have a diverse array of fashion choices that can reflect their personality, culture, and contemporary trends. Whether it’s for casual outings, special occasions, or daily wear, here are some of the most stylish fashion choices for African ladies.

Ankara, also known as African wax print fabric, is a staple in African fashion. The fabric’s bold, colorful patterns make it versatile for a range of styles. From dresses to skirts, trousers, blouses, and even accessories, Ankara can be styled to suit any occasion. For a traditional look, an Ankara maxi dress with a fitted bodice and flared skirt makes a striking statement. For a more modern twist, Ankara jackets, skirts, or peplum tops paired with jeans or trousers provide a fresh, stylish vibe that embraces both cultural heritage and contemporary trends.

Kaftans and maxi dresses are a favorite among African women due to their comfort and elegant style. These flowing garments are often adorned with embroidery, beading, or intricate patterns, making them perfect for casual and formal occasions alike. Kaftans can be styled with a belt at the waist for a more structured look or left loose for an effortless, relaxed feel. When made with fabrics like silk, cotton, or chiffon, kaftans and maxi dresses create a graceful silhouette, making them ideal for weddings, parties, or even day-to-day wear.

African ladies often wear traditional attire for cultural celebrations, religious ceremonies, or weddings. These garments are rich in history and symbolism, with each ethnic group showcasing its unique style. For example, Ghanaian women wear the Kente cloth, a fabric rich in meaning, often used for ceremonial purposes. Similarly, Nigerian women wear the beautiful “aso ebi” style, a coordinated fabric used for weddings, making everyone in the gathering stand out in unity. Traditional attire is typically paired with matching accessories such as beads, headscarves, and shoes, completing the elegant look.

Jumpsuits are a stylish, modern choice for African ladies who want a chic yet effortless look. Whether it’s a tailored jumpsuit for a formal occasion or a relaxed, flowing design for a casual outing, this one-piece garment is both fashionable and functional. Jumpsuits come in various styles, including those made from African prints like Ankara or more neutral fabrics for a minimalist, sleek look. Pairing a jumpsuit with a bold necklace or a pair of stilettos can easily elevate the outfit, making it perfect for a night out or a special event.

Peplum tops and dresses have become a popular trend in African fashion. The peplum design, with its flared hem, accentuates the waist and creates a feminine silhouette. This style is often seen in both casual and formal wear, whether as a peplum blouse paired with a pencil skirt or a peplum dress. When made with African fabrics like Ankara or lace, peplum styles become even more dynamic, offering a balance between tradition and modernity. The addition of embellishments like beads or sequins can also add a touch of glamour to the outfit.

African ladies also embrace the power of a well-tailored suit, which is a versatile choice for professional settings, formal gatherings, or even dinner events. A tailored suit can be paired with a blouse or shirt in complementary fabrics like lace or silk, while high-waisted trousers or skirts complete the ensemble. For a modern African twist, suits are often crafted using Ankara or other African prints, adding a unique touch to the classic look. A tailored suit can project confidence and sophistication while maintaining a strong connection to African heritage.

No African outfit is complete without accessories that complement the overall look. Jewelry plays an important role in African fashion, with statement necklaces, large earrings, and beaded bracelets being the go-to choices. Bold accessories, such as headwraps, turbans, and scarves, are also frequently used to add an extra layer of style and cultural identity to an outfit. Brightly colored bags and shoes can elevate the look, whether paired with a traditional outfit or a more contemporary, chic ensemble.

African street style is a unique blend of traditional and modern influences, often seen in urban centers across the continent. Casual, yet fashionable, street style incorporates graphic t-shirts, oversized jackets, denim, and African-inspired prints. It reflects a sense of individuality and creativity while remaining rooted in African culture. Layering, accessorizing with hats, and mixing prints are common trends that define African street style. This style is all about personal expression and versatility, making it a fun and dynamic way to dress.

Conclusion: Fashion for African ladies is not just about looking good, but about celebrating identity, culture, and history. With its diverse range of styles, African fashion allows women to express themselves in ways that are both personal and culturally significant. Whether it’s through bold Ankara prints, elegant maxi dresses, or traditional attire, African women have countless options for creating stunning, stylish looks that reflect their personality and heritage. With the right balance of tradition and modernity, African fashion will continue to inspire and influence the global fashion scene.

Mahama suspends Director-General of Cyber Security Authority

Names Of Mahama Appointees Who Have Been Sacked Or Suspended In Less Than 6 Months In Office

0

On Saturday, 19th July, 2025, President John Dramani Mahama suspended Divine Selasi Agbeti, Director-General of the National Cyber Security Authority, for using a uniformed military officer as his personal bodyguard without proper clearance.

Here are the names of Mahama appointees who have been sacked or suspended in 2025

1. Anne Sansa Daly

Anne Sansa Daly was removed from her position as a Board Member of the National Health Insurance Authority (NHIA) in May 2025. This is according to a report by Citi News.

The decision followed public concern about her qualifications, especially claims that she was not a licensed medical doctor in Ghana. Many health experts and civil society groups questioned her inclusion on the NHIA board, saying she had no right to present herself as a medical professional.

Although the Presidency did not give an official reason, sources say the backlash influenced her dismissal. She was immediately replaced by Prof. Dr. Ernest Yorke, a well-known medical practitioner and former Greater Accra Chair of the Ghana Medical Association.

2. Dr. Nuhu Zakaria

Dr. Nuhu Zakaria, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Ambulance Service, was also dismissed by President Mahama in July 2025. This is according to a report by Joy News.

His removal came after the Ghana Tertiary Education Commission (GTEC) found that he had wrongly used the title “Professor” without approval from any accredited institution. In a letter dated June 2024, GTEC directed him to stop calling himself a professor because the title had not been legally conferred on him.

Although no official reason was stated in the dismissal letter, many believe this act of academic dishonesty was the main cause. Dr. Zakaria had served in the Ambulance Service for many years and played a major role in improving emergency care nationwide.

3. Divine Selasi Agbeti

Divine Selasi Agbeti, Director-General of the National Cyber Security Authority, was suspended for two weeks in July 2025 over misconduct. This is according to a report by Citi News.

He reportedly used a uniformed military officer as his personal bodyguard without proper clearance, which raised concerns within the security services.

A letter from the President’s office described his actions as inappropriate and embarrassing to the government.

The suspension came just four months after his appointment in March 2025. Ongoing investigations may lead to further disciplinary action depending on the outcome.

‘Choose unity over evil’ – Afenyo-Markin urges NPP delegates

Alexander Afenyo-Markin, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, Minority Leader

Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the Minority Leader, has called for unity within the New Patriotic Party (NPP), urging delegates to put aside personal ambition, internal rifts, and bitterness in order to rebuild the Party for victory in the 2028 general election.

Addressing thousands of party faithful at the University of Ghana Stadium during the NPP’s Annual Delegates Conference on Saturday, Afenyo-Markin said the Party stood at a critical juncture, a moment not of despair, but of renewal and re-dedication.

“It is time to choose unity over evil, and party over self. If we fight one another, we will fall together. But if we fight for one another, we shall rise together,” he said.

The Minority Leader admitted the Party had made mistakes and suffered internal divisions that contributed to its electoral defeat in 2024 but insisted that the NPP was not broken; only battle tested.

He called on members to stop hate campaigns, backbiting, and subtle sabotage, warning that without unity, even the most talented leaders would be powerless.

“No individual can make it alone. Everyone needs the Party.”

Quoting former President John Agyekum Kufuor, he reminded delegates that: “It is better to be a cleaner in a party in power than to be the general secretary of a party in opposition.”

Afenyo-Markin criticised the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) for economic mismanagement, betrayal of campaign promises, and attempts to weaken the Judiciary and intimidate political opponents.

He said recent fuel hikes, failed galamsey interventions, and alleged democratic violations pointed to a government disconnected from the suffering of Ghanaians.

To inspire a vision of resilience and reinvention, he cited the story of Indian Prime Minister, Narendra Modi, who rose from rejection and international scorn to global prominence.

Modi’s example, he noted, showed how a party could rebuild from loss through discipline, values, and a renewed connection with the grassroots.

“…we must rediscover the principles that define our founding fathers. We must rebuild, not as scattered stones, but together, brick by brick, anchored in our values.”

The Minority Leader emphasised that the Party’s enduring motto: “Development in Freedom,” should guide its next chapter, and called on aspiring leaders to seek service, not self-gain.

“Let us rise above the temptation to win at all costs and choose instead to serve at all costs,” he said.

“If we choose unity over evil, purpose over personal ambition, no force can stop us in 2028. When one of us is touched, all of us must rise. We are one family, and the strength of our family is its loyalty in crisis.”

The NPP’s Annual Delegates Conference is being held on the theme: “Rebuilding Together with Our Values,” with over 5,500 delegates reviewing constitutional reforms and strategies to reposition the Party ahead of the 2028 elections.

BoG set to develop framework to guide non-interest banking – Professor Gatsi

The Bank of Ghana (BoG) is developing a comprehensive framework to guide the sector, as the central bank ramps up measures for the introduction of Non-Interest Banking and Finance (NIBF) in country

This is according to Professor John Gartchie Gatsi, who is an Advisor at the BoG.

The NIBF operates in accordance with Islamic law (shariah) which prohibits excessive uncertainty and investments in industries like alcohol, gambling, and pork-related businesses.

Professor Gatsi said the BoG was undertaking extensive engagements with stakeholders, including academic institutions, including the Securities Exchange Commission and other professional bodies, and to shape the formulation of the framework.

Additionally, the central bank had also held engagements with Nigeria banks and capital market players, saying “our target is to learn from a Western, Regional and Asian countries.

Professor Gatsi was speaking at the opening session of a capacity building workshop for selected media practitioners on the NIBF and finance at Koforidua, the Eastern Regional capital.

The BoG organised the day’s workshop to enlighten and empower about 30 senior journalists who will subsequently intensify public education on the benefits of the NIB and help dispel emerging myths and misconceptions too.

Professor Gatsi emphasised that BoG valued the deepening and diversification of the banking and financial sectors and stressed the readiness and commitment of the BoG to collaborate with Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC), the real sectors and the insurance sector to promote a healthy financial and banking ecosystem to improve the economy.

Professor Gatsi said, “The NIBF will soon create an expanded banking, capital market, and insurance opportunities including diversified sources of financing infrastructure and business development in Ghana”.

He stressed that the NIBF remained a commercial bank and contributed strategically to the economy, deepened financial inclusion, promoted the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) and ethical obligation towards protection of the environment.

In a highlight, he said introduction of the NIBF would greatly finance big Infrastructure projects, improve socio-economic activities, increase economic growth and development, and thereby deepen financial inclusion and economies of scope.

That will further promote risk sharing in financial transactions, support trade and export, and contribute successfully to the implementation of the government’s flagship 24-hour economy for sustainable growth and economic development.

Globally, Ismail Adam, the Head of Banking Supervision Department of the BoG, said the NIBF assets exceeded $5 trillion, and urged the journalists and media practitioners to help intensify public education for the people to understand the concept for the nation to derive the optimum benefit.

Earlier, Dominic Hlordzi, the General Secretary of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) lauded the long existing collaboration between the association and the central bank in promoting all-inclusive banking service.

He called on the BoG to consider expanding the training to benefit more journalists and media practitioners in the country.

Short Hairstyles for Black Women

Short hairstyles for Black women have become a powerful expression of beauty, confidence, and individuality. As more women embrace their natural textures and celebrate their unique features, short haircuts have emerged as not just a fashion statement but a symbol of empowerment. Whether it’s a chic buzz cut, a stylish pixie, or a curly tapered cut, short hair continues to redefine beauty standards across the globe.

One of the most iconic and timeless short hairstyles is the TWA (Teeny Weeny Afro). This style is perfect for women transitioning to natural hair or those who prefer low-maintenance yet striking looks. It highlights natural curls and facial features while offering versatility through accessories, color, and styling products.

Another trending option is the tapered cut, where the hair is longer on top and gradually fades down the sides and back. This cut allows for creativity with curls, coils, or even waves on top, while keeping the overall look neat and structured. Adding a pop of color—like blonde, burgundy, or copper—can give the style extra flair.

For a bolder look, many women are opting for buzz cuts or fade styles with artistic shaved designs. These edgy cuts are not only modern but also easy to maintain and deeply expressive.

The pixie cut, often styled with finger waves or textured curls, is another elegant and versatile short hairstyle. It offers a balance of sophistication and edge, making it suitable for both casual and formal occasions.

ECOWAS must tackle money laundering head-On

0

Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has called for a robust system to combat the growing threats of money laundering, terrorism, and weapon financing in West Africa.

She highlighted the severe consequences of illicit financial flows and other criminal activities in regions with weak institutional security frameworks.

According to her, there is a need for a more inclusive approach to address these concerns.

Speaking at the 2nd Extraordinary Inter-Governmental Action Group Against Money laundering in West Africa (GIABA) Ministerial Meeting, Professor Opoku-Agyemang stressed the need for a coordinated and capable security architecture within ECOWAS to effectively respond to and deter transnational threats.

Prof. Opoku-Agyemang emphasized the need for a collaborative yet principled dialogue with the Alliance of Sahel States in addressing transnational organized crimes that threaten the security of the West African region.

“The illicit flows of money and related crimes often thrive where coordination is weak and institutional presence is fragmented. It is in this light that discussions about deepening engagement with all parts of ECOWAS, including those in transition, take on renewed importance.

“As leaders and stakeholders, our duty is to ensure that our regional architecture for combating financing of terrorism and money laundering, and weapons remains robust, inclusive, and forward-looking.

“That architecture must be capable of addressing emerging threats within stable jurisdiction across West Africa.

The newly appointed Chairman of the GIABA Ministerial Committee, Sheku F. Bangura, who also serves as Sierra Leone’s Minister of Finance and Budget, expressed his commitment to working with member states to combat financial crimes in the region.

“As I assume this role as the chairman of GIABA, I pledge my commitment to working with you all to advance GIABA’s vision, and GNC as the supreme decision body under its statutes. In this capacity, I am honoured to guide my colleagues from member states in steering deliberation towards consensus-driven decisions that strengthen our collective fight against illicit financial crimes,” he said.

Mahama hosts Open Society Foundations chair Alex Soros

President Mahama with Alex Soros.

President John Dramani Mahama on Friday hosted United States billionaire Alex Soros for talks at the Presidency in Accra.

Mr Soros, an investor and philanthropist and the son of billionaire Mr George Soros, also chairs the Board of Directors of the Open Society Foundations and sits on the investment committee for Soros Fund Management. He is in Accra for a series of engagements.

At the meeting, President Mahama reiterated Ghana’s commitment to upholding the values of democracy, respect for human rights and the freedoms of its citizenry.

He said Ghana was the beacon of democracy in Africa, which had witnessed peaceful transitions of power and stable political environment.

The President said Ghana under the Fourth Republican Constitution had had 33 years of a stable democracy.

“We’ve had nine elections; all of which have been successful. And we have had several changes of government from one party to another. And these have all been successful,” he said.

“So currently, Ghana stands as a beacon of peace and democracy, not only in West Africa, but in the whole of Africa.”

President Mahama said Ghana was a respected voice when it comes to democracy and good governance.

President said his administration was implementing the reset agenda, which covers not only issues to do with the economy, but also with governance.

He said a lot of things had gone out of kilter with the nation’s governance under the previous Government, stating that the nation’s democratic institutions were weakened.

He said there is a lot of corruption and lack of accountability under the previous Government.

“And so, we came up with a programme to strengthen the anti-corruption institutions. And we had a project called Operation Recover All the Loot (ORAL).

He explained that ORAL was meant to recover all the loot that had been taken away from the Ghanaian people.

“And so, you might hear of prosecutions and things of people who actually have mismanaged public resources. And we continue to pursue accountability; even with people who work in our government, we believe that accountability should not be post-regime accountability. It must be current,” the President said.

“And so even as you’re prosecuting people who did things in the past, you must have the courage to prosecute people if they do the same things in your administration.”

On ECOWAS and the three Sahelian countries – Mali, Burkina Faso, and Niger, which have left the regional bloc, the President reiterated the efforts he had made since his assumption of office to ensure their return to ECOWAS.

He said he had visited all three countries and tried to establish a channel of communication and continuous dialogue with them.

On his part, Mr Alex Soros congratulated President Mahama on his re-election victory.

He said, he was in Ghana as part of the activities marking the 50th anniversary of ECOWAS.

He said the Open Society Foundations in Africa had very much championed the cause of ECOWAS integration, and that obviously, there had been some great triumphs on visa-free travel.

He said he also wanted to discuss partnering and helping with that integration.

At the meeting were Dr Dominic Akurutinga Ayine, the Attorney-General and Minister of Justice; Cassiel Ato Baah Forson, Finance Minister; and Mr Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Minister of Foreign Affairs.

The rest are Mr John Abdulai Jinapor, Minister of Energy and Green Transition; Mr Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah, Minister of Lands and Natural Resources and Mr Charles Abugre, incoming Board Chairperson of the Millennium Development Authority.

Minister in charge of Government Communication, Felix Ofosu Kwakye, has disclosed that President John Dramani Mahama has instructed a taskforce to deal with individuals involved in illegal mining, also known as galamsey, regardless of their status.

He revealed that the President urged the taskforce being deployed to tackle the menace to take decisive action and leave no stone unturned, regardless of who is involved.

The minister stressed that the government is fully committed to combating galamsey and has introduced stringent measures, including the formation of a taskforce to tackle the issue.

“President Mahama says even if his brother is involved in galamsey, they should go after him. Fighting galamsey requires political will, and President Mahama has that will,” Ofosu Kwakye stated on TV3’s KeyPoints, aired on July 19, 2025.

The Abura-Asebu-Kwamankese MP noted that 518 persons have been arrested for their involvement in illegal mining and that the operation will continue.

The galamsey menace has been one of the most discussed issues in the country, with civil society groups and other prominent personalities calling on the government to take action.

The destruction of water bodies and forests, which threatens the environment, has been cited as a key concern that could have severe consequences in the future.

ISSER and ICED advocate evidence-based policies to drive national development

Professor Peter Quartey is the Director of ISSER Professor Peter Quartey is the Director of ISSER

The Institute of Statistical, Social and Economic Research(ISSER) and International Centre for Evaluation and Development (ICED) have advocated for inclusive and evidence-based policies to drive national development.

The advocacy is against the backdrop of disjointed effort in the policy formulation and implementation where policies are often not backed by research.

The two institutions jointly made the call at the 8th of Evidence to Action Conference which was held at the ISSER Conference Room in Accra.

The four-day event featured several activities including discussions on research findings and break out sessions.

Professor Peter Quartey, Director of ISSER, emphasised the importance of such international gatherings, noting that they did not only raise the profiles of both institutions but also showcased Ghana as a vibrant hub for research on the international stage.

Professor Quartey elaborated on strategies for effectively transitioning research into policy to drive national development .

He advocated for early and continuous engagement with practitioners and policymakers, right from the the beginning of research projects by researchers.

Professor Quartey explained that such collaboration ensured that research questions were relevant and that findings were readily validated and adopted by practitioners such as policymakers.

He cited encouraging interactions with government agencies, including a notable engagement with the Minister of Local Government, who demonstrated keen interest in leveraging the conference’s evidence and committed to ongoing collaboration.

Dr David Sarfo Ameyaw, President and CEO of ICED, highlighted the need to include vulnerable and marginalised groups, notably women, young people, and persons with disabilities in the policy formulation process.

“By actively soliciting their insights, policies become more relevant, effective, and capable of fostering real improvements in daily lives,” he said.

Dr Ameyaw urged that research findings should not be confined to academic journals or lengthy reports.

Instead, they must be transformed into easily digestible, accessible formats tailored for diverse audiences, urging researchers to adopt innovative techniques to make their findings accessible.

He said this innovative approach included translating complex data into engaging materials such as community posters, illustrative storybooks for children, interactive colouring books, and even incorporating development themes into popular dramatic productions like telenovelas.

Dr Ameyaw stressed that the aim was to bridge the knowledge gap, empowering every segment of society – from top-level policymakers to grassroots communities – with actionable information.

He noted that a key recommendation from the conference focused on the utilisation and dissemination of evidence needed for policy formulation.

Black Queens coach Kim Bjorkegren is expecting a dicey game against Morcco Black Queens coach Kim Bjorkegren is expecting a dicey game against Morcco

The head coach of Ghana’s Black Queens, Kim Lars Bjorkegren, is anticipating a tough encounter against Morocco in the semi-final of the 2024 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Ghana secured a spot in the last four stages of the tournament on Saturday, July 19, 2025, after a shootout victory against Algeria.

In his post-match interview, Black Queens coach Kim Lars Bjorkegren said it will be tough playing against Morocco, especially since his team will be traveling for the match with only two days to prepare.

“Here and now, we need to enjoy the victory and celebrate a little bit tonight, but of course, it’s going to be tough to play the semi-final far away from here. I guess it’s going to be breakfast tomorrow, a little bit of recovery training, and then the bus to Rabat, which will probably take the whole day.

“Then it’s just one day of recovery training in Rabat, and then it’s game time again. Of course, I wish we had one or two more days, but that’s life as a football player and coach. We need to mentally recover, and for the players, maybe more physical recovery, and then be ready to do everything we can in the semi-final. Of course, it’s going to be a hard job for our medical team now to help the players be as ready as possible,” he said.

The semi-final showdown between Morocco and Ghana at the 2024 WAFCON will take place on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.

A touching video of Mandy Agyapong, wife of politician Ken Agyapong, spoon-feeding actress Moesha Boduong has moved social media users to tears and sparked widespread discussion about life’s unpredictability.

The emotional footage shows the kind gesture as Moesha continues her recovery from a devastating stroke that changed her life dramatically in January 2024.

Moesha Boduong suffered a severe stroke after falling and hitting her head in early 2024. The accident left her brain dead initially, with doctors placing her survival chances entirely on life support. The stroke particularly affected the right side of her body, causing lasting paralysis that continues to impact her daily activities.

Her younger brother, Ebito Boduong, immediately launched a GoFundMe campaign on 23rd January 2024, seeking $10,000 for her medical treatment. The fundraising drive received tremendous support from the entertainment industry and fans alike.

Singer Becca made a significant contribution by donating $2,000 to the fundraising effort. Within ten days, the campaign successfully raised over $5,000, demonstrating the strong support network surrounding the troubled actress.

The generous response highlighted the solidarity within Ghana’s entertainment community during difficult times.

Moesha remained in a coma for several months before emerging in September 2024 with partial paralysis. Her first public appearance showed her attending church, struggling to walk and dragging her right leg while experiencing difficulty moving her right hand.

Some controversy arose when a pastor claimed to have healed the actress, though her family disputed these assertions and threatened legal action against the church.

Despite showing some improvement through dancing videos and participating in comedy skits, Moesha continues facing significant challenges. She struggles with paralysis, memory loss, and speech difficulties that require ongoing care and support.

On her 35th birthday in March 2025, Moesha made an emotional public appeal for prayers and continued support from colleagues and fans during her recovery journey.

The video of Mandy Agyapong’s compassionate visit has generated mixed emotions online. Many viewers offered prayers for Moesha’s healing, while others reflected on life’s fragility. Comments ranged from blessing Mandy’s kindness to expressing surprise at Moesha’s current condition, with some fans admitting they had not realised the severity of her situation.

These ensembles typically consist of matching or complementary tops and bottoms, creating a cohesive look that is easy to mix and match. Whether for casual wear, formal events, or work environments, two-piece outfits strike a perfect balance between comfort and sophistication.

For women, two-piece outfits come in a wide variety of styles, ranging from coordinated sets like crop tops paired with skirts or trousers, to elegant blazers matched with tailored pants or skirts. The head coach of the Black Queens of Ghana, Kim Lars Bjorkegren, has stated that he is delighted with the progress and improvement of his team at the 2025 CAF Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON).

Ghana kicked off its campaign at the ongoing tournament in Morocco with a 2-0 defeat to defending champions South Africa. The Queens have since won two matches and drawn one.

I think it’s amazing with this group how they are moving forward the whole time and players that are taking their chances. I’m happy to be a coach for this really great group of talented players.”

Ghana, after overcoming Algeria in the quarter-final, will now take on Morocco in the semi-final on Tuesday, July 22.

The New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) 2024 Parliamentary Candidate for the Aowin Constituency, Fuseini Yakubu Abanga, has blamed his twin brother, Yakubu Abanga (the second), the National Democratic Congress (NDC)’s Third National Vice Chairman, for his defeat in the 2024 parliamentary elections.

Speaking to Joy News at the NPP National Delegates Congress, Fuseini Yakubu Abanga, popularly known as NPP Abanga, stated that his twin actively campaigned against him, which significantly contributed to his loss.

“I can even blame him for losing my seat in Aowin. Yes, he was behind it. He came to campaign against me. That’s politics,” myojoyonline.com quoted him as saying during the interview.

The twin brothers represent opposing political ideologies, a dynamic that NPP Abanga says has strained their relationship.

“We don’t share the same ideology. He’s NDC, I’m NPP. There’s nothing NDC that I support, and the same way, nothing NPP that he will support. For that matter, the chemistry is something which is there,” he stated.

NPP Abanga further weighed in on an internal party debate at the ongoing congress, expressing strong opposition to the proposed constitutional amendment that would raise the age limit for the National Youth Organiser position to 35 years.

“I don’t support the 35,” he stated, explaining that he had consulted youth organisers from all 275 constituencies and their deputies.

Although the proposed change would have favoured him politically, NPP Abanga stressed that his stance was based on principle rather than personal interest.

“You don’t have to be selfish. I’m a political science student; I believe in democracy. I don’t think I should be selfish just because it will favour me. If that amendment passes, I would have been the only contestant, but I don’t think that’s fair,” he explained.
