The Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, has assured the newly-inaugurated Board of Trustees of the Social Security and National Insurance Trust (SSNIT) that the government has fully settled all arrears owed to the pension fund.
Speaking at the official inauguration of the board in Accra, Dr Forson reaffirmed the government’s commitment to a robust and sustainable pension system, stressing that all outstanding obligations to SSNIT have been honored.
“I want to assure you that the government is current on all payments due to SSNIT. We are determined to continue honoring these obligations to safeguard the pensions of Ghanaian workers,” he said.
The Director-General of SSNIT, Kwesi Afreh Biney, backed the Minister of Finance’s statement, disclosing that the government has not only cleared inherited arrears but is also up to date on all current statutory contributions.
The minister’s assurance comes at a time of heightened public interest in the management of pension funds, following widespread calls for greater transparency and accountability in SSNIT’s investment portfolio and governance structures.
Dr Forson’s remarks are expected to bolster public confidence in SSNIT’s financial standing and reaffirm the government’s commitment to protecting the retirement benefits of workers across the country.
The newly-constituted SSNIT Board is chaired by Nana Ansah Sasraku III and comprises representatives from the government, organised labour, and employer groups.
The SSNIT Board has a mandate to provide strategic oversight and ensure sound corporate governance of the Fund.

Tanzanian singer Juma Jux’s ex-girlfriend, Karen Bujulu, has spoken out following the singer’s wedding to Nigerian actress Iyabo Ojo’s daughter, Priscillia Ojo.
The couple exchanged vows in a lavish cross-country celebration held in both Nigeria and Tanzania, with photos and congratulatory messages quickly flooding social media following the ceremony.
In what appears to be a response to renewed public interest in her past relationship with Jux, Bujulu took to Instagram to set the record straight. “I didn’t cheat. I was the one who got cheated on. I stayed too long, forgave till I couldn’t anymore… and then I left,” she wrote in a heartfelt story post.
Bujulu revealed that she had chosen silence for a long time as people dragged her name and spread false narratives. Despite keeping quiet, she noted that her social media posts continued to be misinterpreted and connected to her former partner.
“I didn’t speak because I didn’t see the need to explain myself online, but somehow, everything I post still gets turned into something about him,” she said. Clarifying her current stance, she added, “Let me be clear: I’ve moved on. I’ve healed. I promise you, I don’t want anything or anyone back.”
The Minority Caucus in Parliament has petitioned the Inspector General of Police (IGP), COP Christian Tetteh Yohuno, over the delayed declaration of the Ablekuma North parliamentary election results.
The caucus, together with its parliamentary candidate for the constituency, Nana Akua Afriyie, presented a petition to the police at their headquarters in Accra on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, following a march from Parliament House to the police headquarters.
They argued that the lack of representation for the people of Ablekuma North, disenfranchises and denies them of their constitutional right, which they duly exercised by casting their votes.
Addressing the police, Minority Chief Whip and Member of Parliament for Nsawam/Adoagyiri, Frank Annoh-Dompreh, stated that as part of their demands, they are asking the police to deploy adequate security personnel to the Electoral Commission’s collation center.
He noted that the reinforcement is necessary to ensure the security of EC staff during the results declaration and to guarantee a peaceful process.
“We therefore request that your office takes immediate steps to deploy adequate security personnel to the Electoral Commission, at its designated collation centre. This will create the enabling environment for them to ensure a peaceful, collation and declaration process in Ablekuma North,” the lawmaker said.
The caucus also urged the police to uphold a directive issued by the High Court, instructing them to provide maximum security to the Electoral Commission during the results collation and ensure cooperation of parties involved.
“Uphold the High-Court directive and cooperate fully with the EC to bring closure to this matter once and for all,” he added.
The collation and declaration of parliamentary results for Ablekuma North once again faced a setback after the exercise was disrupted by chaotic scenes.
The disturbance at the Electoral Commission’s (EC) office on Wednesday, June 4, 2025, was triggered by the inclusion of a disputed pink sheet, which delayed the process.
The situation arose when the Presiding Officer for one of the polling stations in Ablekuma North, Nathaniel Klimsman Avumeh, refused to authenticate the figures from his polling station during the subsequent collation.
Ghanaian evangelist and former spiritualist, Patricia Asiedua, widely known as Nana Agradaa, has stirred social media discussions after claiming her hairstyle cost $4,000. The statement, made during a recent sermon at her Heaven Way Church in Accra, has drawn both admiration and criticism from the public.
In a video that has since gone viral, Agradaa, dressed in a flowing white gown, proudly showcased her new hairstyle, asserting its hefty price tag. She emphasized that the luxurious hairdo was a testament to her status as a “natural and wealthy woman of God.” The declaration sparked a flurry of reactions online, with some praising her confidence and others questioning the appropriateness of such extravagance from a religious leader.
This is not the first time Agradaa has been at the center of controversy. In April 2021, she announced her conversion from traditional priesthood to Christianity, adopting the name Evangelist Patricia Oduro Koranteng. Despite this transformation, she has faced legal challenges, including a conviction for operating a television station without a license and promoting a money-doubling scheme known as “sika gari,” resulting in fines and a potential prison sentence.
Agradaa’s recent display of wealth, including the acquisition of four luxury vehicles and a plush mansion, has further fueled debates about her authenticity and the source of her income. Critics argue that such opulence contradicts the humility expected of religious figures, while supporters view it as evidence of divine favor and success.
The evangelist has also revealed that she earns substantial income from social media platforms like TikTok and YouTube, claiming to make over $2,000 from a single live session. She has stated that even if her church were to fail, she would continue to thrive financially through her online presence.
As discussions continue, Agradaa remains a polarizing figure, embodying the complex interplay between faith, wealth, and public perception in contemporary Ghanaian society.
The Member of Parliament for Damongo Constituency, Samuel Abu Jinapor, has expressed serious concern over undeclared election results for Ablekuma North Constituency, which has left the constituency without parliamentary representation for six months.
Speaking on JoyNews’ The Pulse show today, Wednesday, June 4, Mr Jinapor highlighted that while results for 275 out of 276 constituencies have been declared, Ablekuma North remains unresolved.
“When elections are conducted, the results of the elections have to be declared, should they? We have 276 constituencies; out of them, 275 have been declared. What, at all, is the reason why Ablekuma North has not been declared since the clear month in which the elections were held? I think we must have answers to that.”
He emphasised the critical role that democratic institutions must play in ensuring transparency and the smooth running of elections.
“I think that in a democracy, institutions must work, and if institutions are not up to the task, you will have citizens, groups, and political parties taking measures of their own, which is the last thing we want to have in our country.”
Mr Jinapor pointed out that the Electoral Commission has formally requested protection from the Ghana Police Service to conclude the electoral process in Ablekuma North.
“if the Electoral Commission has come out formally to indicate that what they require to bring the Ablekuma North elections to closure and same firm conclusion is protection from the Ghana Police Service, what is preventing the Ghana Police Service from doing that? I find that whole situation bizarre.”
He defended the protest staged by the Minority in Parliament, explaining that it was aimed at holding authorities accountable.
“I believe as the Minority, we have taken the position, which is the protest today. It is essentially to bring to the front burner and to demand and insist that the police are up to the task and live up to their responsibility, and provide protection for the Electoral Commission to discharge its mandate of declaring the results of Ablekuma North.”
The MP underscored the importance of representation for the people of Ablekuma North.
The people of Ablekuma North deserve representation in Parliament, and as we speak today, isn’t it totally anomalous and scandalous that there is a whole constituency for six months without a representative?
As it stands now, the victor of that election and the winner of that election is pretty clear.
It is quite obvious that the NPP candidate won the election, and the reason why some individuals, groups, or political parties have made it a point to prevent the collation of the results and the subsequent declaration is because they already know the outcome.”
He concluded with a call for justice and transparency in Ghana’s democratic process.
“I don’t think it’s good for our democracy. I don’t think it is a good delivery of the government. The government has a considerable majority in Parliament, and even if they didn’t, let right be right, let justice prevail, and let the winner of the election be declared — and declared immediately.”

President John Dramani Mahama has defended the GHS1 increase in the fuel levy, describing it as a necessary and justifiable step to stabilise Ghana’s energy sector.
Speaking on the rationale behind the move, President Mahama acknowledged the public’s concerns but emphasised that the decision was crucial to securing Ghana’s energy future.
“This decision, though difficult, is necessary and justifiable,” he stated when the National Economic Dialogue Planning Committee presented its final report to him in Accra on Wednesday June 4.
The President reiterated that the levy was expected to generate an estimated GHS5.7 billion annually.
He assured Ghanaians that the additional revenue would be ring-fenced and used exclusively to tackle critical issues in the energy sector.
“This revenue will be strictly ring-fenced to pay down legacy debts, finance ongoing fuel purchases, and avert the risk of recurring power shortages,” President Mahama explained.
The levy, part of measures outlined in the recently passed Energy Sector Levy (Amendment) Bill, 2025, aims to address long-standing financial challenges in the power sector, which currently faces a debt burden of over $3 billion.
Government officials maintain that without such interventions, the country risks further instability in power supply—a scenario they say would hamper economic growth and public confidence.

Nollywood actress Ruby Ojiakor has a message for those questioning her choice of church for her wedding.
In a recent Instagram post, Ruby shared a video from her wedding ceremony where she was seen doing a Bible reading inside St. Philips Anglican Church. Alongside the clip, she made it clear that the church choice was intentional and rooted in love, respect, and submission to her husband.
Her caption read:
“Yes I wedded at ST PHILIPS ANGLICAN CHURCH… MY HUSBAND’S CHURCH.
And for those of you saying it’s wrong, that it’s supposed to be in the woman’s church — please, when it gets to your turn, do as it pleases you, ok?
As for me, I wedded in my husband’s church because he married me in full. He’s the head of the family.”
The actress didn’t stop there. She showered praise on her man, referring to him as “My King”, while praying for people to stop dragging her unnecessarily over her personal decisions.
“My King, I love, adore and respect you so much.
God bless you all and stop dragging me unnecessarily.
LOVE STORY WRITTEN IN HEAVEN.
TWO HEARTS, ONE SOUL.”
While some social media users had questioned why she didn’t use her own church for the ceremony, Ruby’s response made it clear: in her marriage, honoring her husband’s spiritual home was her choice and she’s standing by it.
President John Dramani Mahama has announced the imminent establishment of an inter-ministerial implementation committee tasked with coordinating all actions stemming from the recently presented National Economic Dialogue report.
Speaking at a brief ceremony at the Presidency during the formal presentation of the dialogue report, President Mahama emphasized the government’s commitment to ensuring that the outcomes of the dialogue translate into concrete policy measures and impactful action.
“In the coming days our issue an executive directive establishing an inter-ministerial implementation committee to coordinate all actions flowing from the dialogue report.
The committee is expected to publish its final implementation bulletin by August 2025, providing the public with updates on the progress made and the steps taken to address the recommendations of the dialogue.
“That committee will include civil society and private sector observers and will publish its final implementation bulletin by August 2025.”
The National Economic Dialogue has been a vital platform for stakeholders across the nation to voice ideas and propose solutions for Ghana’s economic recovery and growth.
Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie was the NPP Parliamentary Candidate for Ablekuma North
The New Patriotic Party (NPP) Parliamentary Candidate for Ablekuma North, Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie, has maintained that she emerged victorious in the 2024 parliamentary election and must be officially declared the winner.
In an interview on Channel One TV, and monitored by GhanaWeb on June 4, 2025, she rejected calls for a re-run, asserting that her team had evidence of victory.
“We won the election hands down. We have the pink sheets. We have every evidence, we’ve collated with the agents throughout six times. So, there isn’t going to be any re-run, we won the election hands down, we’ve collated with the agents throughout six times,” she stated.
Her remarks come amid continued uncertainties over the parliamentary outcome in the Ablekuma North Constituency, nearly six months after Ghanaians went to the polls on December 7, 2024.
While voting was conducted and ballots counted, the Electoral Commission is yet to officially declare the winner for the constituency.
The collation process was been characterised by violence, missing pink sheets, and legal interventions.
Meanwhile, both the NDC’s Ewurabena Aubynn and Nana Akua Owusu Afriyie have declared victory in the parliamentary election.

Chairman of the National Economic Dialogue Planning Committee, Dr. Ishmael Yamson, has expressed optimism that the committee’s recommendations will support President John Dramani Mahama’s efforts to “reset” Ghana’s economy amid global challenges.
Speaking during the formal presentation of the committee’s final report at the Jubilee House on Wednesday, June 4, Dr. Yamson said the recommendations are timely and aligned with Ghana’s current economic needs.
“We are confident, Your Excellency, that you will find the recommendations useful as you lead the resetting Ghana agenda,” he stated.
He noted that the committee took into account the ongoing global disruptions and uncertainties, stressing the importance of building a resilient economy through greater self-reliance.
“We also believe you will find the recommendations appropriate in these times of extreme global disruptions and uncertainties, where resilience means self-reliance,” he added.
Dr. Yamson further revealed that some of the committee’s suggestions have already been adopted and integrated into the 2025 national budget, yielding early positive outcomes.
“We are excited to know that even before we had the opportunity to present the final report to you, some of the key recommendations, which were fed into the 2025 budget, are already being implemented with spectacular results,” he noted.
The National Economic Dialogue aimed to foster inclusive discussions and provide strategic guidance to shape Ghana’s long-term economic transformation.

Cedi will remain stable against major foreign currencies – Ato Forson
It still surprises me how some people downplay the intense emotional pain of heartbreak—and how that pain, when mishandled, can push someone to cause serious physical or even spiritual harm.
I often say this: matters of the heart can quickly become matters of life and death. So we must never treat them lightly—especially when it comes to toying with people’s emotions, resources, time, or trust.
I was triggered to write this after reading about a shocking incident involving a 30-year-old woman arrested by the Ghana Police for pouring acid on her estranged boyfriend.
According to the police, the man had ended the relationship. But the woman made an unannounced visit to him. While driving her home, she brought up the break-up again. When he confirmed it for the third time, he asked her to get down and walk the rest of the way because the road ahead was rough. That’s when she attacked him with acid.
It took passersby to rush him to the hospital. The woman fled the country but was arrested on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.
Now, I’m not making excuses for anyone, but let’s be honest—why expose yourself to someone who’s clearly hurting, especially so soon after a breakup? Inviting them to your home and agreeing to drive them somewhere could be risky.
I once ended a relationship for good reason—and I’ve never regretted it. I had left some personal items with her, and when I asked to send someone to collect them, she insisted I come myself. I refused. Eventually, she had no choice but to send them.
That decision wasn’t because I thought she was violent, but because I understood the emotional weight of heartbreak. I chose wisdom and safety. And trust me, even later, I had to deal with spiritual battles I believe were tied to that breakup.
I’m not saying you should be hostile to an ex. Just be wise. In the heat of a breakup, emotions can run wild. Anger simmers. Evil thoughts emerge. Some people lose control. So avoid physical contact if you can, at least until emotions settle and healing begins.
Not everyone has the emotional strength to process rejection or loss without lashing out. And beyond avoiding face-to-face meetings, stay alert and protect your space, because the harm may not come directly. People plot. People send others. People act out.
In love and in loss, choose wisdom over sentiment. It could save your life.

Kazakhstan and African countries are steadily building closer relations
Kazakhstan and African countries are steadily building closer relations despite the distance between them. Recent high-level visits show both sides are committed to deepening partnerships in trade, technology, and agriculture.
Rwanda’s President Paul Kagame made his second visit to Kazakhstan since 2015. During his trip, he highlighted the strong friendship between the two nations and their shared interest in learning from each other’s experiences.
Kagame also spoke at the Astana International Forum, where he pointed to cooperation on critical minerals as a key area of mutual benefit.
The forum attracted other African leaders, including Nigeria’s King Ife Oba Adeyeye Enitan Ogunwusi, a special envoy from Congo, and Burkina Faso’s former prime minister. Astana will host Burkina Faso’s Foreign Minister in early June to continue diplomatic talks.
Kazakhstan’s Foreign Ministry has identified Africa as a growing priority. A new strategy to guide cooperation with African states and the African Union from 2025 to 2030 is underway.
This effort supports Kazakhstan’s multi-vector foreign policy, which aims to build diverse global partnerships.
In recent years, Kazakhstan has welcomed leaders from Togo, Congo, Guinea-Bissau, Sierra Leone, Benin, and Rwanda.
In February 2025, Kazakhstan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister visited Morocco, marking the first official trip by a top Kazakh official to Africa.
Kazakhstan’s diplomatic presence in Africa has expanded from one mission in 2012 to six in 2025. Trade between Kazakhstan and African countries grew from about $100 million in 2012 to more than $1 billion in 2022, though it slightly decreased to $783 million in 2024. Key exports include sulfur, petroleum coke, metal products, agricultural goods, and fertilizers.
Kazakhstan imports fruits, coffee, pharmaceuticals, textiles, cosmetics, and electrical equipment from Africa.
Where formal diplomatic missions do not exist, Kazakhstan relies on honorary consuls to promote business ties. Since 2013, Kazakhstan has held observer status with the African Union and strengthened ties through multilateral cooperation.
African nations represent a significant voting bloc at the United Nations and increasingly influence global decisions. Kazakhstan views Africa as an equal partner committed to sustainable development and a fair international system.

The Finance Minister, Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson, has assured Parliament that the Ghanaian Cedi will remain stable against major foreign currencies.
He stated that foreign exchange earnings from the Ghana Gold Board will be directed to the Bank of Ghana (BoG) to strengthen reserves and support the currency.
Dr. Forson reaffirmed his commitment to ensuring currency stability, reducing prices, and creating jobs as part of the government’s economic agenda.
Speaking during the debate on the Energy Sector Levy Amendment Bill, 2025, in Parliament on Wednesday, June 4, Ato Forson said, “I want to assure the people of Ghana that the currency will remain stable. The Ghana cedi will remain strong. The Ghana cedi is doing well, and this trajectory will continue. Mr Speaker, I want to assure members of this House that the NDC will find ways to stabilise the cedi.
“For the first month of operation of the Ghana Gold Board, for the month of May, they were able to buy 11.4 tonnes of gold, which brought $1.2 billion that has gone to the central bank. And the central bank will use this to build enough reserves to intervene for the currency to be strong. We mean well, prices have fallen, inflation is coming down, we can see prices of goods coming down daily, this will continue, and so, you should be happy. I stand by my promise to deliver low prices, stable cedi and good jobs for the people of Ghana.”
Dr. Forson also dismissed claims that the stability of the exchange rate is due to the government not spending.
Dr John Abdulai Jinapor is the Minister of Energy and Green Transition
The Minister of Energy and Green Transition, Dr John Abdulai Jinapor, has refuted assertions that the GH¢1 Energy Sector Levy introduced by the government will burden Ghanaians by leading to an increase in fuel prices.
Speaking on the floor of Parliament on June 3, 2025, John Jinapor assured that the levy will in no way increase the price of fuel products.
He said that the introduction of the levy is a smart move by the government to raise revenue without burdening Ghanaians unduly.
“Members of John Mahama’s administration, when we are taking pragmatic steps, smart moves, intellectual moves to address the situation, you want to antagonise us. Please, retreat, retreat, because this will not help you.
“Mr Speaker, let me assure you that, unlike the previous administration, we decided to use extra proceeds to pay for pension funds; we will use these funds judiciously for the energy sector. And I tell you, we are determined to turn this sector around,” he said.
Jinapor added; “Mr Speaker, on this auspicious note, let me make it clear that irrespective of the GH¢1, we are not going to see an increase in the pump price in the petroleum sector. It is only an intelligent government that can do this. It’s only a smart government. It’s only a government with acumen that can do this.”
He also accused the opposition of misinforming Ghanaians about the levy just to score political points.
“You were in power for 8 years, you messed the economy up, you took it to the IMF. You gave us a haircut, you gave us higher inflation, a higher exchange rate, and when we have taken over and we are turning things around, you want to instigate the people against us. It will not work, Mr Speaker. Mr Speaker, the people of Ghana know better. And I tell you that we will turn this economy around. I have confidence in President Mahama, and I have confidence in Ato Forson, who is forcing.”

About the Energy Sector Levy:
The Energy Sector Levy (Amendment) Bill, 2025, which imposes a GH¢1 fee on petroleum products, was approved by Parliament on Tuesday, June 3, 2025.
The contentious bill was approved with the goal of generating more money to pay off the country’s chronic energy sector debt and guarantee a steady supply of electricity.
The overall debt of the energy sector as of March 2025 is US$3.1 billion, according to Finance Minister Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, who laid the measure under a certificate of urgency.
He added that in order to pay off this debt in full, at least US$3.7 billion will be needed, and an extra US$1.2 billion will be needed to buy the fuel that thermal power plants need to run throughout 2025.
A member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) National Communications team, Wonder Madilo, has said that the GH¢1 Energy Sector Levy would not significantly impact Ghanaians due to effective rate management.
He said this during a panel discussion on TV3’s New Day on Wednesday, June 4, 2025.
According to him, given the effective management of Ghana’s exchange rate, a slight increase of GH¢1 in fuel prices won’t have a huge impact on the average Ghanaian.
“It won’t translate into a huge burden on the Ghanaian because the currency, which is the exchange rate, is being managed, and managed effectively,” he said.
The NDC communicator said that the focus should be on prudent management of our economic initiatives and debt obligations to strengthen Ghana’s footing on the global market and draw in investors.
“It is not how much is being introduced; for me, it is how much we are managing the introductions, how much we are managing Ghana on a good footing in order to go to the international market and attract investments,” he further explained.

A joint anti-galamsey operation conducted by the Mankranso District Police Command and the Ahafo Ano South West District Assembly on Monday, June 2, 2025, led to the seizure of several firearms, rounds of ammunition, and five excavators.
The exercise targeted illegal mining activities in the Mpasaaso and Achiase areas as part of ongoing efforts to combat the environmental and security threats posed by illegal small-scale mining.
During the operation, several individuals engaged in the unauthorised mining activities fled the scene upon noticing the presence of the security team. In their haste, they abandoned various items and heavy equipment used in the operations.
A search and inspection of the mining sites led to the seizure of the following: – One (1) CAL 9mm pistol loaded with three (3) rounds of live ammunition -Four pump-action guns – Twelve live BB cartridges -Five live AA cartridges -Five excavators
Authorities say the confiscated equipment and weapons are being kept as evidence, while investigations continue to apprehend the fleeing miners and dismantle the illegal mining networks in the area.
The police, in a statement dated June 4, said, “The firearms and ammunition are being kept at the Mankranso District Police Command for further investigation. The Regional Police Command wishes to commend all officers and stakeholders involved in this successful operation.”
The police called on the public to support law enforcement by providing credible information that will lead to an arrest and prosecution.
“We urge the general public to support law enforcement by providing credible information that will lead to the arrest and prosecution of persons involved in these illegal mining activities,” the police stated.

Embattled Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, is expected to report to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) today, June 4, as part of his bail conditions. Chairman Wontumi was released on bail on Monday, June 2, after spending days in custody following his arrest on May 27.
The President of the Foundation of Concerned Arts Professionals (FOCAP), Kojo Preko Dankwa, has questioned why no Christian organisation has come out to publicly rebuke controversial televangelist Nana Agradaa for her “reckless” public attacks on gospel singer Empress Gifty and her husband, Hopeson Adorye.
In an interview on Onua TV, Dankwa condemned Agradaa’s accusations of promiscuity against Empress Gifty, warning that such statements could “collapse marriages” and harm mental health.
“Does she think Hopeson Adorye isn’t human with emotions? These claims are dangerous and could destroy their marriage and mental health,” he said.
He backed the couple’s decision to sue Agradaa for defamation, calling it a fight for their “marriage, brand, and reputation.”
“So in order for him and Empress Gifty to fight for their marriage, their brand and their reputation in society, they had to take her to court,” he said.
Dankwa questioned Agradaa’s behaviour and further called out Christian bodies for their silence on the matter.
“Look at the audacity, the disrespect that a ‘Woman of God’ is using to insult others on social media. I wonder how she is using the same mouth to preach in church and call the name of Jesus. This means there is a problem with preachers in this country.
“Are we saying that there is no Christian association to stand up and shut this lady up? Can’t they issue a statement to tell her that her actions are disgraceful?” he asked.
The clash escalated after Adorye criticised Agradaa for accepting a controversial $800 gift from Ghana Gold Board’s Sammy Gyamfi, which Agradaa deemed “disrespectful”.
She retaliated with social media insults, prompting Empress Gifty’s lawsuit. However, the televangelist has laughed off lawsuits and threatened countersuits.

Kimathi Rawlings and Asiedu Nketiah (holding stick) lighting the revolutionary flame at Agormanya
The 46th anniversary of the June 4 Uprising was commemorated at Agormanya in the Eastern Region, with National Democratic Congress (NDC) stalwarts, party supporters, and members of the Rawlings family in attendance.
The National Chairman of the NDC, Johnson Asiedu Nketiah, led the occasion alongside Rawlings’ children, Dr Zanetor Agyeman-Rawlings, and Kimathi Agyeman-Rawlings.
Together, they lit the revolutionary flame to symbolise the spirit of the June 4 uprising.
The uprising, a military revolt in Ghana in 1979, was sparked by tensions between lower-ranking soldiers and senior officers within the armed forces.
It followed a failed coup attempt on May 15, 1979, led by Flight Lieutenant Jerry John Rawlings, who was angered by poor conditions and unpaid salaries in the military.
After being arrested and sentenced to death, Rawlings used his public trial to accuse the ruling Supreme Military Council (SMC II), led by General Fred Akuffo, of corruption.
On June 3, 1979, junior officers broke Rawlings out of jail and presented him on national radio as their leader.
They called on other soldiers to rally behind the movement.
The uprising quickly escalated, resulting in the arrest and execution of several senior officers, including three former heads of state.
Rawlings was named leader of the Armed Forces Revolutionary Council (AFRC) and oversaw a brief period of military rule before handing power to civilian president, Hilla Limann, in September 1979.

Watch Wontumi appear unsteady after release from EOCO custody:
Government has introduced a GH¢1 Energy Sector Levy
An energy analyst, Kwadwo Poku, has pointed out that the government is effectively imposing a cumulative tax of GH¢2 per litre on fuel, rather than the announced GH¢1 under the Energy Sector Levy.
According to him, when all existing taxes on fuel are added up, the total comes to approximately GH¢2 per litre.
The government recently introduced an Energy Sector Recovery Levy to cover the cost of liquid fuel for thermal power plants.
Poku explained, “The government is collecting GH¢2, not GH¢1. According to the budget, they had already introduced 95 pesewas. With this new addition, the total levy is GH¢1.95 on petrol and GH¢1.93 on diesel.”
He noted that the levy could raise about $1 billion annually from petroleum taxes alone, a burden he says will deepen the financial strain on consumers.
“You want Ghanaians to pay an extra one billion cedis every year through petroleum taxes, yet we are already burdened with high electricity bills,” Poku lamented, as quoted by myjoyonline.com
He also questioned the fiscal strategy behind the policy, citing poor projections and a revenue shortfall saying, “There appears to be a problem at the Ministry of Finance. When the Minister read the budget, he clearly based the projections on an exchange rate of 15.4. Now, with a 30% revenue shortfall, the government is scrambling for cash.”
Poku further argued that the new levy is not truly about the energy sector but rather a way for the government to raise funds to fill budget gaps:
“This has nothing to do with the energy sector. It is simply the government taxing Ghanaians to fund its budget. We must not allow this to be framed as an energy-sector conversation,” he emphasised.
Kofi Adams has blamed club owners for recent surge in hooliganism
Minister of Sports and Recreation, Kofi Adams, has chastised local club owners over their lack of proactivity in tackling hooliganism during matches in the country.
He fumed over why the managers of the various local clubs are unable to put in place stringent measures to control their fans and avoid violent incidents during games, which tarnish the image of Ghana football.
The Member of Parliament for the Buem constituency called for intensive sensitisation on the dangers of hooliganism in football for club owners to handle their supporters well.
“What I have seen and know is that what we must do is provide proper education for club owners. They need serious education even before the fans.
“Some club owners seem not to be up to the task beyond just owning the clubs,” he stated during an interview with Sporty FM.
Adams further expressed his frustration over the growing nature of violence in Ghana football, labeling club owners and officials as “clueless.”
“Some management clearly seems not to understand; they are so clueless about what football is all about,” he added.
This comes after violence erupted during Nations FC’s game against Basake Holy Stars in the Ghana Premier League, which ended prematurely.
The Ghana Football Association (GFA) has served notice that it is probing the chaotic incident and would sanction persons found culpable.

A tipper truck allegedly belonging to Western Transport Service on Monday, June 2, 2025, knocked a six-year-old girl to death at Kwesimintsim, near Takoradi in the Western Region.
The girl, who is yet to be identified, was a class one pupil of Freeman Methodist Basic School at Kwesimintsim.
Reports say, after school hours, the young girl with three of her classmates were crossing the road to the other side, but unfortunately the moving truck run over her, killing her instantly.
According to eyewitnesses, two of the three pupils were the first to cross the road, which is currently under reconstruction.
“So the deceased, who was the youngest among them, seeing that the older ones have crossed the road to the other side also tried to do same.
“But unfortunately, she was hit by the side of the truck, which was moving from Kwesimintsim and heading towards a community called ‘Sawmill’, and the little girl landed under the truck, which smashed her head beyond recognition,” the eyewitnesses narrated.
They indicated that after the sad incident, the driver of the truck went to the Kwesimintsim police station to report himself to the police.
The ‘spare driver’ of the truck, James Amissah, told journalists that the truck driver tried to save the little girl but to no avail.
“I can say that it was not the fault of the driver, but it has happened,” he added.
He appealed for a zebra crossing at the junction of the school, to prevent similar incident in future.

The Chartered Institute of Bankers (CIB) Ghana has held the maiden edition of the National Banking and Ethics Challenge (NBEC), a pioneering competition aimed at promoting ethical banking practices among tertiary students. The event, held on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at the Institute’s auditorium in Accra, featured five universities vying for top honours in a quiz-style contest centered on ethics, financial literacy, and professional conduct.
The schools were Academic City University College, University of Ghana, Pentecost University College, University of Professional Studies, Accra (UPSA) and Wisconsin International University College.
The competition unfolded in three progressive stages which were the preliminaries, semifinals, and finals. At the end of the preliminary round, UPSA and Pentecost University College were eliminated, while Wisconsin exited at the semifinal stage. The final round saw a fierce contest between Academic City University College and the University of Ghana, with Academic City emerging victorious.
Winners and other participants received plaques and cash prizes, while Academic City University was awarded a full scholarship to study a professional course at the Institute, in addition to other incentives.
Delivering the keynote address, Head of the Financial Stability Department at the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Dr. Kwasi Osei Yeboah, commended CIB Ghana for its leadership in advancing ethics in banking. He expressed concern over the rising trend of bank staff involvement in fraud, which increased from 274 in 2023 to 365 in 2024, representing a 33 percent rise.
“This disturbing trend contrasts sharply with the values expected of banking professionals,” he said, calling for urgent stakeholder collaboration to restore public trust. He stressed that ethics must be embedded at every level of banking operations. Events like these are critical in nurturing a new generation of ethically minded bankers who uphold integrity and professionalism,” he added.
CEO of CIB Ghana,Mr. Robert Dzato, underscored the importance of banking education and financial literacy into schools, workplaces, and religious institutions. “We all interact with money—so understanding how to manage it wisely, especially in an inflationary and dynamic economy, is essential for personal and national growth. This challenge is not just a competition; it is a platform for our future banking professionals to engage with ethical standards that are crucial for the integrity of our financial system. We are proud to have initiated this event and look forward to making it an annual affair,” he added.
Quiz Mistress and a Fellow of the Institute, Doris Ahiati, stated that the NBEC serves three core audiences: the bank customer, the banking professional, and financial institutions. “This challenge is our way of saying to the customer: we hear you. We are raising the bar in ethics and professionalism to rebuild your trust,” she said.
She praised the participants for their enthusiasm and knowledge, stating that the level of engagement and the quality of answers demonstrated by the contestants were remarkable. “It is encouraging to see young minds so dedicated to understanding the ethics of banking,” she said.
Also speaking at the event, Vice President of CIB Ghana, TogbeAsiama Krakani V, described the challenge as a transformative initiative aligned with the Institute’s mandate to regulate banking practice and promote professional development. “This is not just a contest—it is a call to action to embed ethics into the DNA of our future professionals and institutions,” he said.
The maiden NBEC, held in partnership with JoyBusiness as the media partner, marks a significant step by CIB Ghana to entrench ethical values in banking from the classroom to the boardroom. It also showcased the Institute’s commitment to building a sustainable, trustworthy, and resilient financial system in Ghana.

Andy Kwame Appiah-Kubi, the legal counsel for Bernard Antwi Boasiako, the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), has confirmed that his client is scheduled to return to the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) on June 4, 2025.
Speaking exclusively to GhanaWeb’s parliamentary correspondent, George Ayisi, Appiah-Kubi said that although his client, who was released from EOCO custody after being detained for six days, is expected to report to the agency, they have not yet done so, as they are still awaiting communication from EOCO following an earlier agreement.
“I’m supposed to go to EOCO with my client today and the agreement was for them to call me one hour ahead of the scheduled meeting. I have not received a call yet. I’m going to try and call them and see if they are ready for us,” he stated.
Asked about his client’s condition and whether he was treated professionally amid rumors of mistreatment, Appiah-Kubi stated that he was not present and that his client would be the best person to speak on the matter.
“I wasn’t there. I wasn’t there so, if there was anything of any sort, he will be the most proper person to speak to. I wasn’t there, so I cannot (sic),” he added.
Chairman Wontumi was released by EOCO on Monday, June 2, 2025, after meeting his bail conditions, with assistance from Bryan Acheampong, the former Minister of Food and Agriculture and Member of Parliament for Abetifi, who stood as one of his sureties.
Additionally, a motion to appeal Wontumi’s GH¢50 million bail condition was formally withdrawn by his legal team on Monday, June 2, 2025.
Originally submitted on May 30, 2025, to the High Court in Accra, the motion was scheduled for hearing on Tuesday, June 3. But on Monday, June 2, it was withdrawn one day earlier.
On Wednesday, May 28, two justifiable sureties were added to his bail. The bail requirements were met by Friday, May 30, according to his legal team, which was headed by lawyer Andy Appiah-Kubi.
His lawyers claimed that the ongoing application for bail review was filed without his express authorisation, which is why his release was postponed even though he complied with the requirements.

A Senior Midwife with the Ghana Health Service, Madam Charity Azaare, has urged parents, educators, and community leaders to work together to prepare adolescent girls emotionally, psychologically, and materially for menstruation, stressing that early support is key to building girls’ confidence and ensuring proper menstrual hygiene.
Speaking at separate forums held in Nintin and Hwidiem in the Mampong Municipality of the Ashanti Region as part of this year’s World Menstrual Hygiene Day celebrations, Madam Azaare emphasised the need for psychological, emotional, and logistical preparedness before girls experience their first menstrual cycle.
“Such collaboration will boost girls’ self-worth and self-awareness, eliminate stigmatisation, and promote better personal and environmental hygiene,” she said. “It also helps prevent infections and unwanted pregnancies.”
The forums were organised through the initiative of the Assembly Member for Nintin Electoral Area, Mr. Nicholas Osei-Wusu, in partnership with Sunda International. The sessions targeted upper primary and junior high school girls, as well as female teachers from six basic schools in Nintin and Hwidiem.
During the programme, a team of health professionals, including a midwife and a community nurse, educated participants on the female reproductive system, the biological significance of menstruation, and proper use and disposal of sanitary pads. Participants were also taught how to maintain good hygiene during their periods.
As part of the event, each girl received at least a two-month supply of sanitary pads donated by Sunda International, through its Soft Care brand.
Madam Azaare stressed the importance of parental involvement, particularly mothers, in educating their daughters. “Many parents are unaware when their daughters start menstruating. This lack of awareness sometimes leads to missed signs of pregnancy or health issues,” she noted.
She also advised the girls not to panic over variations in the length of their menstrual flow, which can last between two to seven days. However, she cautioned that any unusual symptoms or discomforts should be promptly reported to teachers or parents for medical attention.
Assembly Member Nicholas Osei-Wusu explained that his motivation to support the initiative stems from a desire to reduce stigma, absenteeism, and low self-esteem among girls during their menstrual cycle.
“When girls see their leaders involved in such efforts, the stigma begins to fade. It improves their academic performance and overall well-being. This is the goal I have set for myself,” he said.
The Queenmother of Nintin, Nana Anoswah Okyekyerekuro, encouraged girls not to feel ashamed when they begin menstruating, describing it as a natural part of growing up. She urged them to maintain proper hygiene to avoid health complications, and praised the Assembly Member for his commitment to girls’ education and welfare.
Presiding Member of the Mampong Municipal Assembly, Mr. Daniel Oduro, commended the initiative and described it as worthy of emulation by other Assembly Members.
This year’s World Menstrual Hygiene Day was observed under the theme: “#PeriodFriendlyWorld,” highlighting the need for accessible and safe menstrual hygiene resources for all, particularly adolescent girls.
President John Dramani Mahama has stated that in due course, 33 former government appointees implicated in corruption-related cases in the Operation Recover All Loot (ORAL) Team report will face prosecution.
President Mahama, while addressing the African Union Advisory Board Against Corruption at the Jubilee House on Tuesday, 3 June, noted that the Attorney General (A-G), Dr Dominic Ayine, is preparing the cases for judicial proceedings.
CHELSEA HAVE opted not to sign winger Jadon Sancho on a permanent basis and will instead pay a £5 million penalty to send the player back to Manchester United.
However, the Blues have expressed their interest to AC Milan in signing France goalkeeper Mike Maignan.
Sancho moved to Stamford Bridge on loan last summer after his relationship with former United manager Erik ten Hag broke down.
United, who signed Sancho for £73 million from Borussia Dortmund in 2021, are happy for the 25-year-old to leave.
Chelsea did not pay a loan fee for the player and covered just half of his reported £300,000-a-week wages.
The Blues had agreed an obligation to buy Sancho for a fee of about 25m if they finished higher than 14th in the Premier League, which they did – or pay to get out of the deal.
However, the club and the player’s representatives have not been able to agree on a contract for Sancho, who would have had to take a pay cut from his deal at United.
The England forward has a year remaining on his United contract, and the club still owe £17m to Dortmund.
Goosie Tanoh is a founding member of the National Democratic Congress
A founding member of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Goosie Tanoh, has urged the party to learn from the mistakes of its political opponent – the New Patriotic Party (NPP), and govern with a focus on the collective upliftment of Ghanaians.
As the NDC commemorates the 46th anniversary of the June 4 Uprising, the Presidential Advisor on the 24-Hour Economy and Accelerated Export Development praised President John Dramani Mahama for initiating a reset agenda.
According to Tanoh, the reset agenda aims to restore public trust and align governance with the needs of ordinary Ghanaians.
However, he stressed that the party must complement this vision with internal reforms.
In a release sighted by GhanaWeb, he said; “The overwhelming defeat of the NPP at the 7th December 2024 polls is a wake-up call not just to the NPP but to the NDC as well and all who seek to govern our beloved country, Ghana. The decisive rejection of the erstwhile regime of the NPP is pregnant with lessons about how not to govern, whether it be the state, a political party or any other public institution.
“We, as a party, must learn from this in the governance of our affairs. The state is not to be governed for private gains but for collective upliftment and the conquest of poverty in all its aspects, including the conquest of the poverty of mind that leads to the reckless dissipation of our national resources and collective patrimony.”
The June 4 Uprising, spearheaded by the late Flight Lieutenant Jerry John Rawlings, marked a turning point in Ghana’s history, leading to the overthrow of the Supreme Military Council and paving the way for the country’s transition to civilian rule.
Its annual commemoration serves as a powerful reminder of the importance of ethical leadership and civic responsibility.
As the nation reflects on this defining moment, the values of the uprising remain as relevant as ever, guiding current and future generations toward justice, accountability, and principled governance.

Canadian multinational conglomerate Rektron Group Incorporated has announced plans to acquire a controlling 60 per cent equity stake in AT Ghana Limited, the telecommunications company currently owned by the government of Ghana.
The move marks Rektron’s strategic entry into the country’s telecoms sector, in partnership with local firm Afritel Ghana Limited.
The acquisition, which is still subject to regulatory approval and completion of due diligence, was unveiled on Wednesday (June 4, 2025) in a statement issued from Vancouver by Rektron. The company described the planned deal as part of a broader effort to diversify its global infrastructure portfolio and deepen its presence in emerging markets, particularly in Africa.

Ghana govt will temporarily operate AirtelTigo after transfer of ownership
“We are excited to take a significant stake in AT Ghana and appreciate the support of the Government of Ghana as we take a significant stake in AT Ghana,” said Atanas Kolarov, Chief Executive Officer of Rektron. “This aligns with our global vision to advance major infrastructure initiatives, foster innovation, and deliver value to consumers throughout the region.”
AT Ghana, formerly AirtelTigo, serves over 2.3 million customers nationwide and provides voice, data, mobile financial services, and enterprise connectivity solutions. It was nationalised in 2021 following the exit of its previous shareholders, Bharti Airtel and Millicom International Cellular, and has since operated under full government ownership.
Rektron will be working closely with Afritel Ghana, a locally owned telecommunications firm founded by Nana Richmond Aggrey, a pioneer of Ghana’s mobile sector and co-founder of Scancom Ghana (Areeba), which later became MTN Ghana. The Rektron-Afritel alliance is expected to combine global capital and expertise with deep local knowledge and experience.
“This partnership marks a major milestone in our mission to advance telecommunication services in Ghana,” said Nana Richmond Aggrey. “Through our strategic collaboration with Rektron bringing global best practices, strategic investment, and next-generation infrastructure—we will strengthen our mobile network, expand nationwide coverage, and modernise service delivery. These improvements will enable us to drive down the cost of mobile data while increasing speed, reliability, and access. By making affordable, high-quality connectivity available to customers across all regions—including remote areas—we will be empowering every Ghanaian to fully participate in the digital economy and benefit from the opportunities it brings.”
According to Rektron, the acquisition will support its vision of building “resilient, connection-driven ecosystems across critical sectors.” The company said AT Ghana’s operational track record and established market presence provide a stable foundation for long-term value creation and cash flow growth. The investment will also enable AT Ghana to tap into Rektron’s financial strength and scale up infrastructure development.
The Government of Ghana, which currently holds 100 percent of AT Ghana, has expressed its full support for the deal. A Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed between the government, Afritel, and Rektron on May 21, 2025, setting out a framework for the transaction.
In the official statement, Rektron highlighted the rapidly expanding digital landscape in Ghana as a key growth driver, noting that the country’s increasing demand for data services, digital inclusion, and fintech solutions made the telecoms sector a critical investment frontier.
The proposed acquisition, however, is still subject to a number of conditions, including the completion of satisfactory due diligence, finalisation of financial terms, signing of definitive agreements, and receipt of applicable regulatory approvals. Rektron has indicated that while the parties are working towards a successful close, “there can be no assurance that the Acquisition will be consummated.”
Rektron Group, listed on the Canadian Securities Exchange and the Frankfurt Stock Exchange, is traditionally known for its investments in energy and infrastructure projects across emerging markets.
Sean “Diddy” Combs faces racketeering and sex trafficking charges
We’re in the fourth week of the federal criminal trial for Sean “Diddy” Combs in New York, where the music mogul faces charges that include racketeering conspiracy, transportation to engage in prostitution and sex trafficking, crimes that the government claims spanned over two decades.
Combs has pleaded not guilty and denied all allegations of wrongdoing. The trial is estimated to last eight weeks, although prosecutors have indicated that they may rest their case earlier which could move up the timeline –– before the jury is asked to render a verdict.
Frank Piazza is on the stand. Assistant US Attorney Madison Smyser is questioning Piazza for the government. Piazza is a forensic audio and video editor.
Frank Piazza testified that he enhanced 10 “sex videos” that were recovered from a laptop. Prosecutors said that Cassie Ventura turned the laptop over to the government.
The videos — originally recorded in 2012 and 2014 — were recovered from the “Frank Black” user profile on the laptop, prosecutor Madison Smyser said as she entered the videos into evidence under seal.
Piazza also enhanced the audio on another sexually explicit video.
Here’s what we learned during yesterday’s testimony in the Combs’ trial
A former hotel security officer and a financial executive for Bad Boy Entertainment took the stand yesterday in the Sean “Diddy” Combs federal racketeering and sex trafficking trial.
The money-focused testimony came as the prosecution sought to prove that Combs created a criminal enterprise using his business empire that aided him in coercing women into “Freak Offs” and to protect his image.
Combs has pleaded not guilty to charges of racketeering conspiracy, sex trafficking and transportation to engage in prostitution.
Prosecutors continue presenting their case today. Here’s how a trial works:
Here’s what we learned from Eddy Garcia, who worked as a security officer at the InterContinental Hotel in March 2016:
Garcia testified that Combs gave him $100,000 in cash to obtain surveillance video of Combs assaulting his ex-girlfriend Cassie Ventura.
He said that shortly after the assault, Kristina Khorram — who identified herself to Garcia as Combs’ personal assistant — called hotel security and visited the hotel, asking to view or obtain a copy of the video.
Combs had Garcia sign paperwork, including a declaration that it was the only existing copy of the video and a non-disclosure agreement, according to Garcia.
Garcia testified he was contacted by law enforcement in June 2024 about the incident and said he wasn’t honest about his own involvement in the situation at the time.
Here’s what we learned from Derek Ferguson, the former chief financial officer at Bad Boy Entertainment, who testified about the overlap of Combs’ personal and business finances:
Ferguson said Combs would charge business and personal expenses on his corporate card “from time to time.” Ferguson said members of his team would determine which business or entity a charge pertained to, and then they’d use that business’s account to pay that charge.
The jury saw December 2011 bank statements for Combs’ bank account for his home in Alpine, New Jersey. The records matched up with testimony from Regina Ventura, Cassie Ventura’s mother, who said she wired $20,000 to Bad Boy at Combs’ request because she was “scared about my daughter’s safety” after Cassie Ventura sent her a text saying Combs was going to release sexually explicit videos and threatened to have her physically hurt.
play videoDr Delese Mimi Darko is the Chief Executive Officer of the Food and Drugs Authority
Ghana has won the bid to lead Africa in the establishment of the African Medicines Agency.
The African Medicines Agency (AMA) is a specialized agency of the African Union (AU) established to improve equitable access to quality, safe, and effective medical products in Africa.
The agency aims to promote harmony in the regulation and trade of pharmaceutical products across the continent.
The Chief Executive Officer of the Food and Drugs Authority (FDA), Dr Delese Mimi Darko has been appointed as the Head of the African Medicines Agency.
This comes as great news to the nation as Ghana beat Morocco among 100 other member FDAs that aimed to lead the move.
This happened during the 2nd Session of the Conference of State Parties to the Treaty for the Establishment of the African Medicines Agency (AMA) held at Kigali in Rwanda from June 2 to June 4, 2025.
It must be admitted that this process began under former president Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo’s regime and was remarkably sustained by the current president, John Dramani Mahama, who maintained Dr Delese Mimi Darko as the FDA boss.
This helped to complete the process, promoting a “one-Ghana” agenda and resulting in this watershed for Ghana.
About African Medicines Agency
The African Medicines Agency (AMA) is a special agency of the African Union (AU) established to improve equitable access to quality, safe and effective pharmaceutical products in Africa.
It is tasked to promote harmony in Africa’s medicines trade and its regulation.
The AMA was set up by the AU on November 5, 2021 and aimed to have oversight responsibility of pharmaceutical products at a continent’s level.
The MOU was signed by Dynacor and Ansong Askew Ltd at the Mining in Motion summit
Dynacor Group Inc (TSX: DNG) (“Dynacor” or the “Corporation”), is delighted to announce signing of a Memorandum of Understanding (“MOU”) joint venture agreement with Ansong Askew Ltd. (“Ansong-Askew”) in Ghana.
The MOU establishes a framework for planning, due diligence, and strategic alignment toward establishing a commercial partnership, with the objective of formalising a joint venture agreement (“JVA”) in Ghana’s gold processing sector.
The strategic collaboration is designed to explore and develop mutual business opportunities that will not only benefit stakeholders of both organizations but also contribute to the regulation of Ghana’s artisanal mining sector, enabling the Ghana Gold Board and miners to work together seamlessly.
The partnership seeks to leverage Dynacor’s long-standing expertise in traceable, scalable processing of artisanal gold ore with Ansong-Askew’s commercial network and
influence.
The Ghana Gold Board is a new governmental entity that is responsible for regulating, overseeing, monitoring, and managing the purchasing, assaying, refining, and exporting of artisanal and small-scale gold in Ghana.
Scope of the MOU
Under the 12-month MOU, both parties agree to explore the effective use and integration of their technical, commercial, and strategic capacities with the intent to collaborate in good faith towards a JVA.
A subsequent agreement will define the structure, equity participation, capital contributions, governance model, and profit-sharing terms of the joint venture, where Dynacor will hold a majority position.
“This MOU marks the first, serious step in a promising partnership within Ghana, the country where artisanal mining is greatest in Africa,” noted Jean Martineau, President & CEO of Dynacor.
“We are excited to explore the opportunities ahead and look forward to the meaningful impact this partnership will have on our shareholder value-creation plans and on the artisanal gold mining sector in Ghana.”
“The signing of this MOU recognizes the strategic synergies between Dynacor and Ansong- Askew, and our shared commitment to promoting government-permitted, environmentally friendly artisanal gold processing in Ghana,” commented Elena Ansong, Managing Director of Ansong-Askew. “Together, we aim to develop a robust collaboration that enhances Ghana’s position as a leader in the gold mining industry.”
Next Steps
The Corporation is currently attending the Mining in Motion summit in Accra where it has held multiple discussions with the Ghana Gold Board and with players in the artisanal mining sector.
Building on the MOU and extensive relationships built, Dynacor will look to purchase a land concession or a future processing plant in a location informed by its geological sampling, meetings and research.

Ghanaian sprint star Benjamin Azamati has expressed pride and relief after officially qualifying for the 2025 World Athletics Championships in Tokyo.
The 26-year-old hit the qualifying standard at the McNabb Sprint Series, clocking 9.98 seconds in the men’s 100m with a legal wind reading of +1.2 m/s, his season’s best performance so far.
The time places him joint 17th on the global qualification list and reaffirms his position as one of Ghana’s most consistent performers in recent sprinting history.
Reacting to the achievement in an interview with Sporty FM, Azamati shared a mix of gratitude and emotional release after what has been a testing journey.
“I feel grateful and proud. It’s been a long journey with ups and downs, so finally making the qualification mark takes some pressure off,” he said.
Azamati added that the result now allows him to focus more calmly on what lies ahead.
“Now I can focus on the rest of the season and prepare to be in my best shape in September,” he added.
The Olympic semi-finalist and national relay record holder opted out of the 2025 World Relays in Guangzhou to concentrate on qualifying individually in the 100m, a strategic decision that has clearly paid off.
This latest performance also marks the fourth time Azamati has broken the 10-second barrier under legal wind conditions, more than any Ghanaian athlete in history.
Beyond his brilliance, he remains a cornerstone of Ghana’s 4x100m relay team and famously ran the back straight in the squad that set the national record (38.07s) at the 2022 World Championships in Eugene.
