The inaugural Abibitumi Abibifahodie Film Festival (AAFF) launches this November as a historic hybrid (in-person and virtual) celebration of Abibitumi ‘Black Power’ and Abibifahodie ‘Black Liberation’ through cinema and storytelling from across the Black world.

Taking place November 28–30, 2025, the festival will be hosted at Ozone Cinema, Oyarifa Mall, Accra, with simultaneous digital screenings and live-streamed discussions connecting storytellers, audiences, and creatives from throughout Abibiman and the Diaspora.

With the unifying theme “What Abibitumi Is: Demonstration Over Conversation,” this festival signals the rise of a new creative wave — one that fuses language, film, and liberation practice.

It serves as a powerful prelude to the Abibitumi Conference (December 12–14, 2025), extending the ongoing movement of self-definition, Abibitumi ‘Black Power’, and Abibifahodie ‘Black Liberation’ through art, media, and collective engagement.

The Bogoso Blue Water Guards have issued a strong warning to illegal miners (galamseyers) operating along rivers in the Prestea-Huni-Valley Municipality after destroying five changfan machines on the River Ankobra at Tarkwa Bremang in the Western Region.

The enforcement operation, which took place on Friday, November 21, 2025, forms part of ongoing efforts to curb illegal mining activities that continue to degrade water bodies and threaten local ecosystems.

Allan Acheampong, Commander for Bogoso Blue Water Guards, who led the exercise, cautioned individuals engaged in illegal river mining to desist from the practice, stressing that the group remains committed to protecting critical water resources.

“You can’t even get a single fish from the river due to the activities of galamsey. We have set five changfan machines ablaze. We are warning all those mining on the river to stop,” Acheampong said, adding that the destruction of the equipment serves as a clear message that illegal activities on the water bodies will not be tolerated.

He also appealed to authorities to support the team with additional logistics, including life jackets and speed boats, to enhance the safety and effectiveness of future operations.

The River Ankobra has, in recent years, been heavily impacted by illegal mining, prompting intensified monitoring and community-led patrols to address the environmental damage.

Corey Johnson is the CEO of OnPoint Virtual Assistants

Ghana’s push toward a 24-hour economy will rely heavily on the country’s rapid adoption of artificial intelligence (AI) and automation, according to Corey Johnson, CEO of OnPoint Virtual Assistants.

Speaking at the launch of a new AI and automation pilot training program in Accra, Johnson said Ghana’s economic ambitions “will rise or fall on efficiency, and efficiency today is impossible without AI.”

The American-Ghanaian entrepreneur emphasised that private sector leadership, not government alone, will determine how quickly Ghana catches up with global technological trends.

“AI is not going anywhere; it’s here to stay. It’s up to individuals to catch up. It’s up to private businesses to catch up, to stay up to speed. And also for the government, when you look at the 24-hour initiative, you’re definitely going to need AI to be efficient,” he said.

“Because efficiency leads to productivity, which allows the economy to grow faster. The more efficient and proficient one is, the better off you’ll be in terms of growing the economy and advancing the 24-hour mandate by the president,” he added.

The event marked the launch of Ghana’s first AI and automation training pilot program, a partnership between Mobi9Tech Digital Agency and OnPoint Virtual Assistants.

The 12-week program will certify three Ghanaian trainees in GoHighLevel and Make.com, opening pathways to global remote work opportunities.

Johnson said the decision to start small was intentional.

“Three is the right number for a test run. We want to refine the system, monitor progress, and position them for international jobs immediately after they complete the program,” he noted.

The coordinators, young graduates who previously completed national service, already assist in managing 100–200 clients daily through OnPoint’s non-emergency medical transport business in the U.S.

“They are hardworking, adaptable, and they understand AI because they grew up in a digital world,” Johnson added.

When asked how fast Ghana can catch up to global AI adoption, Johnson replied, “Ghana can catch up as fast as Ghana wants. It depends on how quickly individuals and private businesses are willing to learn. AI is the future of economic survival; whether we adapt now or later determines our competitiveness.”

He stressed that young people with “trainable, ready minds” are Ghana’s biggest opportunity.

“If Ghana wants to compete in a 24-hour economy, or any global economy, AI must be at the center. And we’re helping build the workforce that will make that possible,” Corey Johnson concluded.

Janine Coogler-Hudson, CEO of Mobi9Tech, said the partnership is designed as an economic intervention, not just a training program.

“We’re giving Ghanaian youth the exact certifications that earn $40,000 to $80,000 globally,” she explained. “This is economic transformation. Our graduates can compete internationally from day one.”

Hudson compared today’s AI moment to the early dot-com boom, saying, “The people who took the internet seriously in the early 2000s became industry leaders. AI is at that same starting point today, and we’re preparing Ghanaian youth to lead, not follow.”

Unlike typical online AI courses, which have completion rates below 10%, the hybrid model combines self-paced online work with weekly live instructor sessions.

“Life happens. People lose motivation. But when you add accountability, mentorship, and community, they finish,” Hudson said.

The Ghana Police Service has urged its leadership to reinstate the annual police–media press soirée as part of efforts to improve communication and deepen collaboration with journalists.

The call was made during a stakeholder engagement organised by the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (UNESCO), which brought together media practitioners, security agencies, and civil society groups to deliberate on press freedom and the safety of journalists in Ghana.

Police Commander for the Zenu-Atadeka District, Superintendent Commander Oliver Turkson, said the press soirée traditionally served as an important accountability platform where journalists and police leadership could assess their work over the past year. It provided space, she noted, for open dialogue on operational challenges, achievements, and areas for improvement.

“For instance, the challenges, the progress made. The press soirée gives a forum for a constructive conversation and helps map out a clear way forward to strengthen our relationship,” she said.

She explained that reviving the event would help rebuild trust, enhance transparency, and make it easier for journalists to access accurate and timely information – particularly during crisis situations where clarity from the police is essential.

Journalists at the forum welcomed the proposal but also appealed to the police for quicker responses, more proactive communication, and improved access to public information.

The General Secretary of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Dominic Hlordzi, used the platform to reiterate calls on government to ensure that all security agencies uphold the law when journalists are attacked. He emphasised the need for consistent and decisive action to protect media workers.

“We need government to speak with the police, the military, the courts, and every institution under its authority to ensure that when a journalist is attacked, we walk the full haul to secure closure on their cases,” he said.

During the discussions, both sides acknowledged that tensions sometimes arise between journalists and security officers. Media practitioners cited delays in police communication, while the police expressed concern about instances where reporters publish unverified or premature details.

The meeting concluded with a shared commitment to develop clearer communication guidelines and strengthen cooperation to ensure safer and more effective working relations between the police and the media.

The pots to determine how nations that have qualified to compete in the 2026 FIFA World Cup would been drawn have been confirmed with Ghana in line to land in the dreaded Group of Death.

The draw to group nations in next year’s World Cup will be held on December 5 with 48 nations set to compete in the grand tournament for the first time.

At the time of writing, only six open slots remain in the roster of qualified nations at the competition with two nations to qualify from the Intercontinental Playoffs set for March, 2026.

The top ranked nations including host nations the United States of America, Mexico and Canada are in Pot 1. One nation from each pot will be picked to fill each of the 12 groups.

Defending World Champions Argentina, 2018 Champions France and former winners Spain, England and Brazil are also in Pot 1.

Pot 2 has ascending nations including Ecuador, Japan, South Korea, Switzerland and Austria while Pot 3 has a significant number of African nations including South Africa, Algeria, Tunisia and Egypt featured.

Ghana is in Pot 4 with the likes of Haiti, Cape Verde and New Zealand which means the Black Stars could end up facing Spain or Argentina from Pot 1, Erling Haaland and Martin Odedaard’s Norway from Pot 3 and Luis Diaz’s Croatia from Pot 2.

Intermittent power outages disrupted hearing at the Kumasi High Court in the case in which Akosua Serwaa Fosuh is seeking relief as the legal wife of the late popular highlife musician Charles Kwadwo Fosuh, known in showbiz as Daddy Lumba.

Proceedings were disrupted twice as counsel for Serwaa Fosuh cross-examined the head of the Ekuona family at Parkoso, who also doubles as the first defendant in the case.

Akosua Serwaa Fosuh is petitioning the High Court to declare her the only surviving legal wife of the late musician and entitled to perform widowhood rites, and an order to restrain Priscila Ofori, also known as Odo Broni, who has six children with the late Daddy Lumba, from presenting herself as the wife of the late musician.

But Friday’s hearing was marred by the intermittent power outages as proceedings were halted twice within an interval of 20 minutes.

The first light out hit the court at 14:49 p.m. as William Kusi, counsel for Serwaa Fosuh cross-examined Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu, head of Daddy Lumba’s extended family at Parkoso in Kumasi.

The development compelled the trial judge, Justice Dorinda Smith-Arthur, to exclaim, “My goodness! Did you save it?” Her worry stems from the fact that court records were at stake. Computers used to record court proceedings had gone off while court recorders were busily typing proceedings in court.

After more than 15 minutes of waiting with no sign of power being restored, the presiding judge was compelled to adjourn the hearing.

Abusuapanin Kofi Owusu’s mouth was consequently sealed for the hearing to be adjourned to Monday, November 24.

Three minutes after proceedings had ended, and the trial judge had retired into her chambers, power was restored, at 15: 08.

Just as Justice Dorinda Smith-Arthur returned to the courtroom for proceedings to resume, power went out again at 15:10, much to the discomfort of judicial service staff, journalists covering proceedings, plaintiff, lawyers as well as witnesses and relatives of Daddy Lumba.

Policy Analyst and Natural Resource Governance Expert, Dr Steve Manteaw, has cautioned Ghanaians against overstating the economic significance of lithium compared to the country’s gold sector, describing the political debate over the revised Atlantic Lithium agreement as overly sentimental and potentially harmful to investment confidence.

Speaking on Joy News, Dr Manteaw commented on the revised lithium deal, recently resubmitted to Parliament for ratification by Lands Minister Emmanuel Armah-Kofi Buah. He highlighted that while lithium prices have fallen sharply from about $3,000 to $850 per ton globally, the debate over the fiscal terms of the agreement should not be driven by politics or emotion.

“We are happy to take 5% royalty for gold, which generates billions for the country, yet condemn 10% royalty for lithium, whose value is nowhere near that of gold. This is driven more by sentiment than by objective assessment,” he said.

Dr Manteaw emphasised that Ghana’s gold sector continues to produce significantly higher revenues. Last year alone, gold brought in more than $2 billion, and rising prices could push this figure above $3 billion. In contrast, even Zimbabwe, Africa’s leading lithium producer, earns a maximum of about $400 million annually from lithium.

He argued that focusing on lithium as a “last hope” for transforming Ghana’s economy is misplaced. “God blessed this country with gold. We’ve produced it for over 100 years, yet the sector has not fundamentally changed our economic trajectory. If gold couldn’t transform Ghana, lithium alone will not do it,” he said.

Dr Manteaw also warned that the political back-and-forth over the lithium deal sends the wrong signal to international investors. Delays in ratification, compounded by fiscal disputes, risk portraying Ghana as a hostile investment environment at a time when financing is critical for both exploration and local development.

“If investors cannot proceed with their projects due to political interference, how will they repay loans or invest in local communities? The international community is watching,” he added.

While acknowledging that those pushing for higher lithium royalties are well-intentioned, he insisted the conversation should be grounded in data and science, not political competition. He also noted that the NPP is right to want to pay back the NDC in their own coin, but it’s the nation that suffers.

“Can we look forward and consider what is in the best interest of Ghana? You cannot maintain the fiscal regime that was negotiated by the previous government, because of the collapse of lithium prices.”

Dr Manteaw urged Ghanaian policymakers to adopt a pragmatic approach, adjusting the fiscal terms to make lithium projects viable while learning lessons from gold management, including the need for structured revenue frameworks, stabilisation funds, and careful environmental oversight.

Accra, Nov. 21, GNA – Patbella Hope Foundation has donated medical equipment worth over GHS 70,000 to the National Radiotherapy, Oncology and Nuclear Medicine Centre, Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital. 

The Foundation seeks to reinforce its commitment to strengthening cancer care and supporting improved patient outcomes in Ghana. 

The donated items include vein finders, Omron 907 BP monitors, chemotherapy cool caps and kits, wheelchairs, and other medical supplies to enhance treatment efficiency, and patient comfort within the oncology unit. 

Ms Patricia Isabella Essel, the Founder of the Foundation said the initiative reflected their Vision of “a world where every individual overcomes poverty and stigma through education, proactive healthcare and economic independence. 

“And also, its Mission to transform adversity into opportunity by empowering underprivileged individuals, disadvantaged women, and breast cancer survivors through quality education, health advocacy and economic empowerment,” she said. 

Ms Essel, also a breast cancer survivor, sharing her experience and how far she had come, expressed deep appreciation to the medical personnel who supported her, as well as all individuals and partners who contributed in diverse ways to make the donation possible. 

She emphasised that her experience continued to inspire the Foundation’s drive to support cancer patients, improve healthcare access, and empower communities through advocacy and capacity-building initiatives.  

Ms Essel urged the hospital to put the equipment to good use for the benefit of all breast cancer survivors. 

Patbella Hope Foundation called on individuals, institutions, and philanthropic partners to support its scholarship programme for medical and oncology nursing students, as well as its broader community health interventions. 

Ms Naomi Oyoe Ohene Oti, an Oncology Nurse Specialist and the 2025 Aster Guardians Global Nursing Award Winner, receiving the donation on behalf of the Department expressed gratitude for the gesture, noting that the equipment would significantly strengthen service delivery and contribute to enhanced care for cancer patients.

India’s largest conglomerate Reliance Industries, owned by billionaire Mukesh Ambani, has stopped importing Russian crude oil for its export-only refining unit at Jamnagar in the western state of Gujarat.

The move aims to comply with an EU ban on fuel imports made from Russian oil through third countries, which takes effect next year. It also aligns with US sanctions on major Russian oil producers Rosneft and Lukoil, set to kick in on Friday.

“This transition has been completed ahead of schedule to ensure full compliance with product-import restrictions coming into force on 21 January 2026,” Reliance said in a statement.

The White House has welcomed the move by Reliance.

“We welcome this shift and look forward to advancing meaningful progress on US-India trade talks,” the White House press office said, in a statement to the Washington Post.

Delhi’s purchase of Russian oil has been a major sticking point between India and the US. Trump slapped India with 50% tariffs in August, including a 25% penalty for buying Russian oil and arms, which he says was funding Moscow’s war on Ukraine – a charge India has denied.

India’s purchases of discounted Russian oil shot up from barely 2.5% of imports before the war began in 2022, to around 35.8% in 2024-25.

Reliance is India’s largest importer of Russian oil, and accounts for around 50% of Russian oil flows into the country.

The Jamnagar refinery is the largest single-site refining complex in the world – with two separate units dedicated for exports and the domestic market.

Mounting global pressure appears to be having a desired effort on India after months of resistance from Delhi to reduce oil purchases from Moscow. Over the past couple of months, oil refiners in India have been lowering their imports, according to several reports.

Reliance reduced orders from sanctioned Russian companies by 13% while increasing monthly imports from Saudi Arabia to 87% and Iraq to 31% in October, according to a Carnegie Endowment report.

Indian state-controlled refineries are also skipping Russian crude imports for December contracts according to Bloomberg.

Given India has sharply curtailed its imports, Washington must “immediately scrap the additional 25% tariff on Indian goods”, Ajay Srivastava of the Global Trade and Research Initiative (GTRI) think-tank said.

“Maintaining the tariff despite India meeting US expectations undermines goodwill and risks slowing already delicate trade negotiations,” Mr Srivastava said.

Negotiations for a broader trade deal between India and the US have been severely hampered by the former’s Russian oil purchases, but the tensions appear to be gradually letting up after months of uncertainty.

Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum is the Minister of State for Special Initiatives

In an effort to tackle the country’s spiralling youth unemployment and earn foreign exchange, government – through the Ghana Labour Exchange Programme (GLEP) – is aiming to export 800,00 to one million skilled and unskilled labour in three to four years.

Briefing media on the programme in Accra, Minister of State for Special Initiatives, Emmanuel Kwadwo Agyekum, said GLEP is projected to generate foreign exchange in excess of US$10billion annually.

“I’m looking at more than US$10billion coming into this country – probably three times the IMF bailout. This is something that can easily be done,” he said.

According to him, this would be a panacea to the debt-laden country that has gone to the IMF for a bailout 17 times since independence – and is currently under a US$3billion IMF bailout programme until 2026.

He stressed that these potential earnings are projected to surpass earnings of the country’s traditional exports like cocoa and gold.

The Bank of Ghana Governor, Dr Johnson Pandit Asiama, indicated that gold alone has brought in about US$8billion since the GoldBod was established in March.

This saw total international reserves surge to US$12billion, bringing relative stability to the local currency. The cedi appreciated by 37 percent year-to-date, according to Dr Asiama.

He however pointed to the Philippines, which he said earns about US$135billion annually from its overseas workers; and India, which garnered US$130billion in 2023 to prove the programme’s economic potential.

“Closer to home, Egypt now makes about US$35billion from labour export – more than the Suez Canal. Kenya made US$5.08 billion,” he added.

The programme, which he said is the “vision” of President John Mahama, is designed to reduce domestic unemployment, inject massive forex into the economy and upskill the national workforce.

“We are looking at a holistic approach. Some people think that labour export is brain-drain. But I tell people it is rather a brain-gain,” the minister intimated, pushing back against critics who label such initiatives as “brain drain”.

“You cannot stop it. We live in a global village,” he argued, maintaining that workers who go abroad refine their skills, attitude and mentality. According to the minister, this will benefit the country when they return, confirming that “the likelihood of these workers coming back to Ghana is about 80-90 percent”.

The Ghana Labour Exchange Programme targets both highly skilled professionals and unskilled labourers.

The minister said doctors, nurses, lab technicians, pharmacists and IT experts are in high demand in other countries and can be exported.

He also noted that carpenters, steel-benders, bricklayers and welders capable of working in industries like shipbuilding are also in high demand.

“For the non-skilled, we are looking at people who can go as helpers, labourers, seasonal farm helpers, or even those who can work on a ship with just a basic training of about six weeks,” he explained.

The minister revealed there is immediate demand for workers worldwide, citing aging populations in several western and Asian countries that need active youth to take up jobs. However, he didn’t state explicitly where these workers will be taken.

He cited continuous demand for Ghanaian workers, stating that “1,000 to 2,000 nurses” are being recruited for specific locations and 654 drivers already recruited for a single country.

Agyekum indicated that plans are far advanced to streamline travelling processes and ensure the workers safety, stating that dedicated desks will be put at various embassies to handle issues and queries and fast-track the acquisition of travelling documents for these workers.

“The safety of our people is the paramount thing. All our embassies are going to have a desk officer,” he said, adding that government is signing memoranda of understanding (MoUs) with host countries to protect the workers’ rights.

The minister emphasised that some training may be provided for people seeking jobs without prior training, adding that the workers will be given initial contract periods ranging from 9 months to 2 years – after which they can return to Ghana or opt for a contract renewal.

However, he expressed his outfit’s commitment to collaborating with other ministries and government agencies in ensuring that the programme achieves its intended purpose of stemming the unemployment canker and securing the livelihoods and welfare of Ghanaians youth while earning foreign exchange for the country.

Ghana’s President has officially inaugurated Phases I and II of the Tema Port Expansion Project at Meridian Port Services’ Terminal 3, marking the full completion of one of the country’s most significant maritime infrastructure developments.

With construction, equipment installation and all operational systems now delivered, the expanded terminal features four berths, a 1,400-metre quay, and 127 hectares of terminal area. The upgrade increases Tema’s capacity to 3.7 million TEU, positioning it as one of West Africa’s most advanced container gateways, reported by Dynaliners.

Meridian Port Services — a joint venture between APM Terminals (Maersk), Africa Global Logistics (MSC) and the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority — operates the facility. Accra, Nov. 21, GNA – Mrs. Faustina Essel Adepa, the Principal, School of Peri-Operative and Critical Care Nursing, has charged newly graduated trained specialist nurses to step into their professions as agents of change and contributors to a more resilient healthcare system in Ghana. 

She urged them to go into the world with their expertise, to save lives, shape communities and strengthen national health outcomes. 

The Principal was speaking at the 9th Joint Graduation Ceremony held by the School of Peri-Operative and Critical Care Nursing, Ophthalmic Nursing School, Public Health Nursing School, and School of Anaesthesia, in Accra. 

It was on the theme, “Empowering a Resilient Healthcare System in Ghana through Specialised Nursing.” 

The ceremony saw 414 students from the four Schools conferred with certificates after years of rigorous academic and clinical training. 

The graduating class included 162 from Peri-Operative and Critical Care Nursing, 128 from the Public Health Nursing School, 89 from Ophthalmic Nursing, and 35 from the School of Anesthesia. 

Mrs Adepa described the ceremony as a celebration of perseverance, sacrifice, and professionalism.  

“You have endured long hours of study, intense clinical practice, and numerous challenges. Today, we honour your resilience, your commitment, and your passion for nursing,” she said. 

She emphasised that the health sector needed not just more practitioners, but dedicated specialists ready to drive transformation. 

The Principal noted that the skills and expertise of the graduates would save lives, strengthen communities, and contribute significantly to national development. 

Mrs Adepa extended appreciation to families, mentors, and faculty members whose support had been pivotal to the graduates’ success. 

“This achievement is shared. Your investment in these graduates will continue to bear fruit as they make meaningful contributions to society,” she added. 

She said the careers of the newly trained specialists would require courage, innovation, empathy, and sound judgement, particularly in complex clinical situations where their decisions may determine the course of a patient’s life. 

The Principal encouraged the graduates to wear their caps and gowns with pride, reminding them of the responsibility and honour associated with the nursing profession. 

Professor Elvis Ofori Ameyaw, the Deputy Director, Directorate of Research, Innovation and Consultancy, University of Cape Coast, said the ceremony was a reaffirmation of Ghana’s commitment to producing a specialised and ethically grounded workforce. 

He said their achievement was not only a testament to their intelligence but also to their resilience, discipline and commitment to humanity. 

Professor Ameyaw said specialised nursing was no longer an added advantage but a national necessity, such that Ghana’s evolving health profile demanded a workforce, equipped with technical expertise, emotional intelligence and the ability to function effectively. 

“Collectively, you embody the competences required to strengthen Ghana’s health system,” he added. 

He reaffirmed the University’s continuous support through curriculum oversight, quality assurance, research collaboration, faculty development and capacity building initiatives. 

Professor Ameyaw urged the graduates to approach every patient with empathy, embrace new technologies, new knowledge and new methods as they stepped into the professional world.

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, the Ranking Member on the Economic Committee of Parliament

Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Ofoase Ayirebi, has alleged that government, through the Bank of Ghana, has injected US$8 billion into the economy this year in a bid to stabilise the Cedi against foreign exchange pressures.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament, during the debate on the 2026 Budget, Oppong Nkrumah cautioned that the intervention was only a temporary measure.

He warned that any external shock could erode the gains made, leaving the currency vulnerable once again.

The legislator disclosed that government had cut GH¢28 billion in expenditure after failing to meet its revenue targets.

As a result, he said, the administration could not allocate US$5 billion to the Feed Ghana programme, which was intended to boost agricultural productivity.

Oppong Nkrumah also criticised government for failing to provide GH¢51 million seed capital to the Women’s Development Bank, describing the move as a setback for women’s empowerment initiatives.

The lawmaker questioned the fiscal priorities of the administration, citing the announcement to purchase two executive jets as misplaced at a time when resources were scarce.

He urged the government to review its fiscal strategy and channel investments into real sectors of the economy to spur growth and create sustainable jobs.

In response, Cletus Seidu Dapilah, National Democratic Congress (NDC) MP for Jirapa, expressed optimism about the 2026 Budget, insisting that it offered hope for employment opportunities for the youth.

The Design & Technology Institute (DTI) has graduated its sixth cohort of 328 students, marking a milestone since its founding in 2019.

 The graduation ceremony took place on 20 November 2025, at the Agape New Testament Church in Accra.

The event was held under the theme “Character By Design: Building Tomorrow With Purpose,” highlighting DTI’s strong emphasis on personal character as well as technical training.

 Among its key programs, DTI offers training in welding and fabrication, design innovation, and entrepreneurship, in partnership with the Mastercard Foundation.

 Notably, 55.0% of the graduates were female, showing strong gender representation in its technical programs.

DTI’s founder and president, Constance Elizabeth Swaniker, stressed the importance of soft skills, saying that while technical abilities open doors, character, adaptability, and communication are what allow individuals to go far.

She highlighted how the school’s extracurricular programs — like the DTI Challenge and creative arts — help students build emotional intelligence, self-confidence, and leadership.

DTI Opens State-of-the-Art Welding, Training Centre

A major development for DTI this year is the opening of a state-of-the-art Welding Training and Testing Centre, featuring a 40-booth workshop, digital welding simulators, and a metallurgical testing lab.

This facility strengthens DTI’s capacity to train welders to international standards.

DTI is unique in Ghana and West Africa as a dual TVET institution, meaning it combines both practical, hands-on training and classroom-based theory in a “production school” model.

At the ceremony, Will Senyo, Co-Founder and CEO of Impact Hub Accra, gave the keynote address, focusing on innovation and entrepreneurship.

 Several graduates won awards in categories like Best Design Innovation, Best Entrepreneurship, Exemplary Leadership, and Overall Best Student.

DTI reports a 70% employability rate for its graduates. According to their data, many now work in sectors such as telecommunications, fashion, engineering, technology, hospitality, and creative media.

Others have gone into self-employment, leveraging seed funding and incubation support from DTI.

The institute’s curriculum is co-designed with industry partners, and DTI works closely with the Ghana Standards Authority, CTVET, and the National Development Planning Commission to help shape national training standards. Its strong performance and alignment with market needs reflect its role in shaping the future of technical education in Ghana.

Her mastery of her craft was displayed with aplomb, leaving me deeply impressed. It was an encounter that reaffirmed my belief that great medical care does not always come with age but with dedication, training, and passion.
