Nigerian content creator and fast-rising Nollywood actor, Odira Nwobu, has reportedly passed away, sparking widespread grief across the entertainment community.
The news of his death surfaced on Monday after blogger and fellow content creator, Awuzie Frankline, announced the development in an emotional Facebook post.
Ghana is preparing to roll out a blockchain-based track-and-trace system to trace every gram of gold it exports. Sammy Gyamfi disclosed that the Ghana Gold Board is far advanced in procuring the technology.
“By the end of 2026, every gram of gold purchased by the GoldBod will be traceable to its sustainable mine of origin,” he said.
He explained that the system will include compliance audits to ensure that licensed mines do not act as fronts for illegal operations.
“This is crucial to maintaining integrity across the supply chain,” he added.
Mr Gyamfi noted that the system forms a key part of Ghana’s strategy to formalise ASM and prevent illegal sourcing.
“This is how we modernise the industry while protecting the environment and promoting transparency,” he said.

Ghanaian media personality, Yaa Yeboah, has condemned the recent attack that occurred at the court premises during proceedings linked to Daddy Lumba’s funeral.
Speaking on UTV’s United Showbiz on November 23, 2025, she described the behaviour displayed at the court premises as `ill-mannered, uncivilised and unrefined’, warning that the escalating tensions could lead to a major clash on the day judgment is delivered.
According to Yaa Yeboah, the hostility shown towards Odo Broni and her family appeared intentional and orchestrated.
“The way things are moving, if we don’t check it well, there will be a big fight in court on the day of judgement. With the way things are now, in my opinion, I feel like they were sent to do whatever they’re doing. What kind of hatred is that?” she quizzed.
She noted that the violent confrontation at the court was unnecessary and disgraceful.
“Look at the mannerisms that were displayed at the court. The attack was ill-mannered, uncivilised and unrefined. Should we leave our jobs and say because of the hatred we have for Odo Broni, what at all has she done? What was her crime?,” she questioned.
Akosua Serwaa’s lawyer’s way of communication is disgusting – Yaa Yeboah
Yaa Yeboah further defended Odo Broni, emphasizing that being in a relationship and having children should not make her a target of hatred.
“Is it because she had a relationship with someone and gave birth to six children to extend the man’s legacy? If not for Lumba’s death, where would we know the Abusuapanin from? This is not nice at all,” she stated.
She welcomed the judge’s directive ordering the police to investigate and arrest individuals involved in the attack.
“I was happy when the judge instructed the next day that police should investigate so they could arrest all those who went to attack Odo Broni’s family,” she said.
Yaa Yeboah concluded by urging the court to ensure tight security when the final ruling is delivered next week, stressing that tensions are too high to ignore.
“I will urge the court that if they’re to rule the case next week, I think there should be heavy security there. This is because we don’t know who the judgement will favour and there might be fight,” she added.

TELECOMMUNICATION GIANT, MTN has asked journalists to educate the public on the negative effect of fibre optic cuts on telco operations and communities.
General Manager, Northern Business District, Nii Adotey Mingle, speaking with journalists from Bono, Bono East and Ahafo Regions in Sunyani, said one of the key challenges of the telco is fibre optic cuts.
He added that this year alone the telco has recorded 211 fibre cuts adding that this has impacted about 14 percent of its customers.
“We invest a lot in fibre optics but if individuals and construction companies continue to cut these lines it impacts our activities to bring service closer to such communities,” he added.
In a panel discussion, network engineer with the company, Philip Ennin, also bemoaned the incidents of cables theft on MTN masts which is common at Sampa, Mim and Bediako stretch of its operational areas.
“Everyone must help to protect our common interests and improve the efficiency of our services to customers,” he said.
Explaining the need for continuous engagement with stakeholders including media partners every year, Chief Customer Experience Officer, Jemima Kotei Wash, said there was the need to update stakeholders and customers on what the company is doing.
“It is our commitment to share purpose, exchange ideas and ensure every customer enjoy reliable service,” she added.
According to her, as part of efforts to ensure customers enjoy reliable service and be part of digitalised global community, MTN has invested a little over $1billion in strengthening its digital infrastructure and has spent $240m this year to expand 4G and 5G services and support momo businesses.
Medeama SC goalkeeper Felix Kyei has revealed the motivation behind his decision to commit his long-term future to the club, despite interest from several other clubs.
Kyei signed a two-year contract extension last Friday, keeping him at the club until 2029.
Speaking to the media after Saturday’s 0-0 draw against Bechem United in Tarkwa, Kyei said the sense of belonging, warmth, and respect he enjoys at Medeama made extending his stay an easy choice.
“At Medeama, I feel at home. Everyone here, management, technical team, teammates, and supporters, makes me feel welcome. That alone motivates me to stay and keep fighting for this badge,” he said.
“Many clubs showed interest, but loyalty and the environment matter. Here, I feel valued and believe in the project we are building,” Kyei added.
Since joining Medeama from Karela United in January 2023, he has become one of the team’s most influential players.
He helped Medeama win the 2022/23 Ghana Premier League title and guided them to their first CAF Champions League group stage. His performances have also earned him invitations to the Local Black Stars.
The goalkeeper explained that the trust and support he receives from the club played a major role in rejecting other offers.
Matthew Nyinadam is Member of Parliament for Kpandai
The Member of Parliament for Kpandai, Matthew Nyinadam, has expressed disagreement with a High Court decision ordering a rerun of the parliamentary election in his constituency.
Speaking in an interview with GhanaWeb on Monday, November 24, 2025, Nyinadam noted that some Members of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) had already been signaling a rerun in Kpandai.
Court throws out NDC injunction, orders EC to re-collate Ablekuma North election results
“We realised that something has already gone wrong because a week before today, the NDC in Kpandai were all over talking about a rerun in Kpandai. Even this morning, before the judgment on the social media handles, they had already posted that there’s going to be a rerun in Kpandai,” he remarked.
While Nyinadam said he respects the court’s authority, he insisted that the decision is unfair.
High Court orders rerun of Kpandai parliamentary election
“We vehemently disagree with what we have seen. We have already filed our stay of execution and filed the appeal at the courts too,” he said.
Nyinadam alleged that during the 2024 parliamentary election, supporters of the NDC parliamentary candidate, Daniel Nsala Wakpal, attacked the coalition center, forcing the police and military to intervene.
“He mobilised his supporters, brought them in pickup, they came and attacked the coalition center. So, the police and then the military, and that particular plan advised that the EC should move to the regional office so that the declaration can be done,” he stated.
According to Nyinadam, irregularities were cited in 41 police stations, involving discrepancies between the number of people verified to vote and the votes actually cast.
“If you take a police station where the verification is done, maybe 200 people, and then at the parliamentary level, the votes cast were maybe 199. They printed it out as an inequality, which means that the person might have voted presidential and did not vote parliamentary,” he remarked.
He reassured his constituents that he remains the legitimate MP for Kpandai until the appeal court rules otherwise.
“I just want to let my people know that I am still the MP for Kpandai until the appeal court decides otherwise. We are fighting the case after this logical conclusion. It’s not that we are afraid of a rerun, but if it is a genuine rerun, we don’t have a problem. But this kind of rerun, we don’t even know where it is coming from. Nobody should be afraid. Let’s all stay together and see what God will do,” he added.
The Tamale High Court has ordered a rerun of the Kpandai parliamentary election, directing that a fresh poll be held within 30 days.

‘He wanted sex’ – Woman assaulted by husband in viral video recounts ordeal
SanlamAllianz in Ghana has unveiled “Sika Nkomo”, anew financial education campaign designed to help Ghanaians, especially those in the informal economy, take charge of their money and secure their futures through practical lessons on savings, budgeting, and insurance.
Rooted in SanlamAllianz’s purpose to empower generations to be financially confident, secure, and prosperous, the Sika Nkomo campaign is part of a wider African initiative promoting financial literacy and inclusion. It is a bold step toward making financial literacy not just a privilege, but a way of life for everyone: from market traders and artisans to young professionals and small business owners.
What “Sika Nkomo” Mean
In Ghanaian parlance, “Sika Nkomo” simply means “Money Talk.” That’s exactly what this campaign is about- open, relatable conversations around money
management that speak to the realities of everyday Ghanaians.
Through Sika Nkomo, SanlamAllianz in Ghana aims to demystify financial concepts and show that good money habits are not complicated theories; they’re practical
tools anyone can use to improve their lives.
Building Confidence, One Lesson at a Time
The campaign focuses on four core pillars that build long-term financial confidence:
● Budgeting and financial discipline: Learning how to plan your spending and live within your means.
● Setting financial goals and saving regularly: Developing consistent habits that turn small savings into lasting security.
● Understanding insurance: Realising that insurance isn’t just for the wealthy but also for anyone who wants peace of mind when life takes an unexpected
turn.
● Growing financial confidence: Empowering individuals to make informed decisions about their money and future.
For many Ghanaians in the informal sector, financial education can be life changing. As one local trader shared- “One illness or fire can erase years of hard work; but with insurance, you can bounce back.” This is the kind of real life perspective Sika Nkomo seeks to highlight that financial protection is a foundation for resilience, not a luxury.
A Step Toward Financial Inclusion
According to SanlamAllianz in Ghana, Sika Nkomo is more than a campaign; it is a movement to bridge Ghana’s financial literacy gap and help individuals and families build stronger financial futures.
“Our end goal is to make sure that every Ghanaian becomes financially confident, be able to finance planned expenses and have the peace of mind that unplanned expenses will also be covered.”
Tawiah BEN-AHMED, FCIIG; CEO/ Country Lead of Sanlam Allianz Life Insurance Ghana LTD.

The Ayew brothers (L), the Toure brothers (M) and the Hernandez brothers (R)
There is something undeniably powerful about two brothers standing shoulder to shoulder, wearing the same colours, hearing the same anthem, and fighting for the same flag.
Football has produced many emotional stories, but few moments feel as special as siblings representing their country together.
Across Europe, Africa, and beyond, this phenomenon has created some of the sport’s most memorable family narratives, and Ghana has had more than its fair share of iconic brotherly pairings.
In Europe, the list is glittered with world-class names. France has Theo and Lucas Hernandez, the dynamic full-back duo who won the UEFA Nations League together and were part of the same squad at major tournaments.
Palmer, Rogers: Who really owns the ‘Cold’ celebration?
Belgium also witnessed the rise of its own superstar siblings, Eden and Thorgan Hazard, who not only played for the Red Devils but often combined in attack with near-telepathic chemistry.
England’s Phil and Gary Neville remain one of the most enduring brother pairings, central to Manchester United’s dominance and stalwarts for the Three Lions.
Africa has produced similar stories. Ivory Coast’s golden generation was symbolised by the leadership of Yaya and Kolo Touré, two giants who helped lift the 2015 Africa Cup of Nations and carried the Elephants through years of continental battles.
But Ghana’s contribution to this tradition is particularly rich and emotional.
Across generations, the Black Stars have showcased some of African football’s most memorable and talked-about sibling duos.
Abedi Ayew and Kwame Ayew represented the country in the 90s and participated in two AFCON tournaments.
Kwame Ayew played 25 times for Ghana and scored nine goals for the Black Stars.
Abedi Pele is arguably the best player in Ghana’s history, with three Africa Player of the Year crowns and an AFCON title.
Abedi earned 73 caps and scored 33 goals for Ghana.
The modern era’s most famous example is the Ayew brothers: Andre and Jordan Ayew.
Sons of legendary Abedi Pele, the two have become pillars of the national team, sharing World Cups, AFCON tournaments, qualifiers, and countless pressure moments.
Before Andre and Jordan, Ghana had another iconic duo: Asamoah Gyan and Baffour Gyan. Asamoah would go on to become Ghana’s all-time top scorer and one of Africa’s biggest football personalities, but Baffour carved the early path.
The brothers shared the national jersey in the mid-2000s, including during crucial AFCON qualifiers. Their story is one of mentorship, the older clearing the way for the younger one to shine.
Ghana’s most emotional brother narrative, however, belongs to Richard Kingson and Laryea Kingston. Richard became a national hero during the 2006 and 2010 World Cups, but Laryea, despite his outstanding quality, heartbreakingly missed out on both tournaments.
Still, the brothers shared the pitch numerous times in qualifiers and friendlies, creating some unforgettable moments.
Tchiroma Bakary has vowed to resist President Paul Biya’s government
Cameroonian opposition leader Issa Tchiroma Bakary, who is contesting the outcome of the presidential election, has fled to The Gambia for his safety, The Gambian government has said.
Tchiroma Bakary has insisted he is the legitimate winner of the 12 October election, alleging that the result was rigged to give President Paul Biya, 92, an eighth term.
The Gambian information ministry said on Sunday that Tchiroma Bakary arrived on 7 November and was allowed to stay on humanitarian grounds.
Cameroon’s government had threatened to put him on trial for allegedly inciting violent post-election demonstrations. He denied the allegation, and blamed the security forces for a crackdown on protesters.
The government put the number of people killed in post-election violence at 16, but other organisations have given a higher death toll.
Tchiroma Bakary has repeatedly promised to resist Biya’s government until his “victory” in the election is recognised.
Biya, the world’s oldest president, has been in power for 43 years, and was declared the winner with 53.7% of the vote amid allegations of fraud.
Tchiroma Bakary, who served in Biya’s government for many years, came second with 35.2%.
His resistance tactics have included calling for street protests and “ghost town” operations aimed at bringing cities and towns to a standstill.
Until The Gambian government confirmed his presence, his whereabouts had remained a mystery although there was speculation that he had fled to another country in the region.
“He is being hosted temporarily in The Gambia purely on humanitarian grounds in the spirit of African solidarity and for the purpose of ensuring his safety while discussions continue to pursue a peaceful and diplomatic resolution to the post-electoral tensions in Cameroon,” The Gambian government said in a statement.
The Gambian authorities said the country would not be used as a “base for subversive activity against any state”.
The BBC has reached out to the Cameroonian government for comment.
Reacting to the announcement, The Gambia’s main opposition United Democratic Party (UDP) criticised the government for withholding the announcement of Tchiroma Bakary’s arrival until Sunday.
It said it raised “serious questions about transparency, accountability, and respect for The Gambian people’s right to know what actions are taken in their name”.
However, the party said it was proud that Tchiroma Bakary could find “safe sanctuary” in The Gambia, adding that it was fully aware of how “despotism operates and how dissenters are treated”.
The aftermath of Wendy Shay’s highly anticipated free Shay Concert 2025 was nothing short of electrifying, as stage lights, fireworks, and the roar of over 100,000 fans turned the West Hills Mall into the epicentre of Accra’s entertainment scene.
Held on Saturday, November 22, the event drew one of the largest crowds the Weija West Hills Mall has ever seen. Fans thronged the venue hours ahead of time, eager to witness Wendy Shay and an all-star lineup of Ghanaian hitmakers, including Shatta Wale, Medikal, KiDi, Showboy, Kelvyn Boy, Olivetheboy, Lasmid, Sister Afia, Amerado, and others.
The atmosphere was electric from start to finish. Wendy Shay, known for her commanding stagecraft, delivered an unforgettable performance—syncing effortlessly with the crowd’s energy as she rolled out hit after hit, spiced with surprise collaborations.
Songs from her month-old album, “Ready,” echoed across the mall as thousands sang along word for word.
One of the night’s biggest highlights came when the Afrobeats star made a dramatic entrance for her second set, drawing deafening screams as she descended onto the stage in spectacular fashion.
Social media erupted in equal measure, with fans flooding timelines with videos, photos, and reactions, turning the concert into a nationwide online experience.
Beyond the performances, Wendy Shay also rewarded her supporters, with one ecstatic fan walking away with a 58-inch 4K Hisense television.
With its scale, energy, star power, and unforgettable moments, Shay Concert 2025 has cemented itself as another cultural milestone—further solidifying Wendy Shay’s status as one of Ghana’s most impactful performers.
The night may be over, but its imprint on the November entertainment calendar will linger for a long time.
Former Administrator of District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), Irene Naa Torshie Addo, has taken her message of renewal, development, and accountable leadership to the Ashanti Region, where she engaged delegates across the Oforikrom, Suame, Asokwa, and Manhyia South constituencies as part of her vigorous campaign for New Patriotic Party (NPP) presidential candidate hopeful, Kennedy Agyapong.
Addressing delegates, Madam Naa Torshie stressed that there is no New Patriotic Party without the Ashanti Region, insisting that the party’s electoral strength and historical loyalty must be matched with meaningful development, jobs, and economic empowerment.
She said Ashanti has carried the party for decades and deserves a leader who will repay loyalty with action not rhetoric.
Madam Naa Torshie explained that her decision to no longer support Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is grounded in her firm belief that Mr. Agyapong is the candidate who can win power for the NPP in 2028.
She also addressed ongoing propaganda surrounding her tenure at the District Assemblies Common Fund, making it clear that the management of the Fund was a collaborative process in which the Economic Management Team played a central role.
She emphasised that she shares both the successes and the failures of that period with them, and that any attempt to single her out is simply misinformation.
Her message to delegates was straightforward: “If we truly want change and victory in 2028, then we must rally behind the person who can deliver it; Kennedy Agyapong.”
She urged delegates to back Mr. Agyapong, describing him as a serial job creator, a self-made entrepreneur, and the only aspirant with a clear, practical plan for industrialisation and youth employment.
She highlighted Kennedy Agyapong’s record of establishing multiple businesses employing thousands of Ghanaians, insisting that such experience is exactly what Ghana needs to address today’s massive unemployment crisis.
“Kennedy Agyapong will bring development to Ashanti and jobs to Ghana. He is bold, he is independent, and he has proven that he delivers,” she told cheering delegates.
Madam Naa Torshie also urged party faithful to choose a leader who understands the real economy, not just theories and presentations.
She stated that Mr. Agyapong represents hope for the grassroots, for jobless graduates, for market women, and for hardworking Ghanaians looking for opportunity.
Her tour continues across multiple constituencies in the Ashanti Region as she rallies the party’s base behind a candidate she believes can restore credibility, unity, and progress to the NPP.
Walking through the streets of Accra, or even just scrolling through my timeline on a Saturday afternoon, the vibrancy of Ghanaian womanhood is undeniable. We are the backbone of the economy, the keepers of tradition, and the loud, joyful laughter at a naming ceremony. Yet, today, on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women, I am forced to sit with a quieter, heavier truth that exists alongside our strength.
Growing up in Ghana, we are often taught that a “virtuous woman” is one who endures. We have proverbs that praise silence and patience in the face of adversity. “Dza ɔwɔ anigyeɛ no na ɔwɔ asomdwoeɛ” (He who has patience has peace). But as a young girl navigating this space, I have started to ask: at what cost is this peace bought? And who is paying for it?
The Shadow in the Light
Violence against women here isn’t always the bruise we can see. Sometimes, it’s the subtle weight of economic abuse, the auntie who cannot leave a toxic marriage because she has been systematically denied the means to support herself. It’s the harassment in the tro-tro that is laughed off as “boys being boys.” It is the cultural expectation that when a woman speaks up about abuse, she is trying to disgrace the family, rather than saving her own life.
I think about the stories we whisper but rarely shout. The brilliant girl in my SHS class who suddenly dropped out, not because she wasn’t smart, but because the path to school became too dangerous.
Shifting the Narrative
However, I am also seeing a shift, and that is where my hope lies.
Our generation is becoming louder. We are the daughters of the market queens, yes, but we are also the digital warriors. We are learning that reporting abuse isn’t an act of betrayal; it’s an act of survival and dignity.
The orange lights that will illuminate buildings tonight are beautiful, but in Ghana, we need more than symbols. We need:
1.Economic Empowerment: When a woman has her own money, she has options. We need to support women-owned businesses, from the bead seller to the tech CEO.
2.Education for Boys: We spend so much time teaching girls how to protect themselves. It is time we doubled our efforts in teaching our brothers, cousins, and sons that masculinity is not defined by dominance.
3.Legal Enforcement: We have the Domestic Violence Act (Act 732). It is a powerful tool, but a tool is useless if it gathers dust. We need to demand that our institutions support victims, not shame them.
A Promise to Myself
Today, as a girl living in Ghana, I promise not to look away. I promise that my definition of being a “good Ghanaian woman” will not include silence in the face of injustice.
To every woman and girl reading this: You are not a drum to be beaten. You are not a vessel to be broken. You are gold, you are kente, you are the very earth this nation stands on.
Let us continue to write a new story for ourselves, one where our safety is not a privilege, but a non-negotiable right.
Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is a former Vice President of Ghana
Former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia appears in no mood to slow down on his charge towards the New Patriotic Party (NPP) Presidential primary in January.
Bawumia, renowned for his non-stop, energetic political campaign regimen, has been on the road engaging NPP stakeholders in the past three months, and less than 48 hours after concluding a rigorous tour of the Central Region, Dr Bawumia is back on the road in the Eastern Region, one of the party’s fortress.
30 out of 45 Central Regional NPP youth organisers declare support for Bawumia
Dr Bawumia is expected to begin his Eastern Regional tour by crossing the Volta Lake to Afram Plains, where he will engage with NPP stakeholders in Afram Plains North and South respectively, before ending the day with engagements in Mpraeso constituency.
In the next 10 days, Dr Bawumia will tour all 33 constituencies of the Easter Region and engage with members of the NPP and delegates who will vote at the party’s primaries.
During his tour of the Central Region last week, Dr Bawumia was accorded great receptions across constituencies, and he also received widespread endorsement form key groups in various constituencies.
In the Eastern Region, where 15 of the party’s current 23 members of parliament have declared support for him, Dr Bawumia is expected to have even a more eventful tour.
With a little over two months to the election, the former Vice President has so far toured Bono, Bono East, Ahafo, Western North, Western, Oti, Volta and Central Regions.
22 out of 25 Assin South electoral area coordinators declare support for Dr Bawumia
His campaign tour has been themed “Our Journey Together”, which has been explained as working together with all patriots for victory in the presidential primart in January, and victory for the NPP in 2028.
The NPP’s presidential primaries is scheduled on January 31, 2026.
‘He wanted sex’ – Woman assaulted by husband in viral video recounts ordeal
Jimmy Cliff, one of the most prominent and beloved proponents of reggae music, has died at the age of 81.
A star since the 1960s, he helped to bring the sound of Jamaica to a global audience through hits such as Wonderful World, Beautiful People and You Can Get It If You Really Want.
His lead role as a gun-toting rebel in the 1972 crime drama The Harder They Come is a cornerstone of Jamaican cinema and was attributed as the movie that brought reggae to America.
Cliff’s wife, Latifa Chambers, announced his death via a statement on Instagram.
“It’s with profound sadness that I share that my husband, Jimmy Cliff, has crossed over due to a seizure followed by pneumonia,” she wrote.
“I am thankful for his family, friends, fellow artistes and coworkers who have shared his journey with him.
“To all his fans around the world, please know that your support was his strength throughout his whole career.
“Jimmy, my darling, may you rest in peace. I will follow your wishes.”
Her message was also signed by their children, Lilty and Aken.
Born James Chambers in 1944, Cliff grew up as the eighth of nine children in abject poverty in the parish of St. James, Jamaica.
Blessed with a sweet, mellifluous voice, he began singing at his local church at the age of six.
By the time he was 14, he’d moved to Kingston and adopted the surname Cliff to express the heights he intended on reaching.
He recorded several singles before topping the Jamaican charts with his own composition, Hurricane Hattie.
In 1965, he relocated to London to work with Island Records – later the home of Bob Marley – but the label’s attempts to make his sound palatable to rock audiences weren’t entirely successful at first.
He eventually struck gold with the 1969 single Wonderful World, Beautiful People – an upbeat, feelgood anthem; and the more politically-charged Vietnam, which Bob Dylan called “the best protest song ever written”.
Its lyric tells the story of a young soldier who writes from the war, promising his mother he’ll be home soon; only for her to receive a telegram the next day, informing her of his death.
Cliff reflected on the song in 1986, telling reggae archivist Roger Steffens: “The essence of my music is struggle. What gives it the icing is the hope of love.”
Cliff became an international star with The Harder They Come, expressly written for the movie of the same name, in which he played Ivan Martin, a young man trying to break into Jamaica’s corrupt music industry.
“The film opened the door for Jamaica,” Cliff recalled. “It said, ‘This is where this music comes from.'”
Cliff contributed four songs to the soundtrack, including the gospel hymn Many Rivers To Cross, which reflected his early days as a struggling artist in the UK.
“I was still in my teens,” he later recalled. “I came full of vigour: I’m going to make it, I’m going to be up there with the Beatles and the Stones.”
“And it wasn’t really going like that, I was touring clubs, not breaking through. I was struggling with work, life, my identity. I couldn’t find my place. Frustration fuelled the song.”
Instead, the film and its soundtrack won him international acclaim. Rolling Stone magazine even named it one of their top 500 albums of all time.
During the 1980s, he collaborated with the Rolling Stones on their Dirty Work album, and he returned to the US charts in 1993 with his cover of I Can See Clearly Now, from the soundtrack for Cool Runnings, which followed the escapades of Jamaica’s bobsled team.
His other recordings included the Grammy Award-winning albums Cliff Hanger (1985) and Rebirth (2012), a nostalgic return to form.
Cliff entered the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2010, calling it “a great thrill and an honour”.
Inducting him, Fugees star Wyclef Jean said he’d been inspired by Cliff’s success as a young boy growing up in Haiti.
“When we saw Jimmy Cliff, we saw ourselves,” he said.
Cliff continued to tour late into his life, playing Glastonbury’s legends slot in 2003; and winning over a new generation of fans at the 2010 Coachella Festival.
His contributions to Jamaican music and culture were recognised in October 2003 when he was awarded the country’s prestigious Order of Merit.
But the singer said his connection to fans was more important than any of the other honours bestowed upon him.
Speaking to US radio station NPR in 2012, he reflected: “When someone comes up to me and says, ‘I was a dropout in school and I heard your song You Can Get It If You Really Want, and that song made me go back to school, and now I am a teacher and I use your song with my students’ – that, for me, is a big success.”
Accra, Nov. 24, GNA—Mr Emmanuel Kwasi Bedzrah, the Chairman of the Open Government Partnership (OGP) Caucus in Parliament, has called on the Open Parliament Working Group, to urgently advance the implementation of various actions outlined in its plan.
He emphasized that Parliament’s prompt delivery of information to the public was essential.
Mr Bedzrah, also a National Democratic Congress Member of Parliament for Ho West, made this call while speaking to the Open Parliament Working Group, a jointly established platform between Parliament and Civil Society Organizations, during its end-of-year strategic review workshop to evaluate its work and speed up the implementation of Ghana’s Open Parliament Action Plan, launched in June this year.
He noted that although the Action Plan was launched midway through the year, leaving limited time for implementation, the Working Group still had ample opportunity to accelerate progress.
He stressed the importance of providing consistent feedback to citizens and ensuring that parliamentary reports and information were easily accessible to the public.
“As soon as a report is laid in Parliament, it should be readily available to the public, and if citizens are not getting that feedback, then we have a problem,” he said.
Mr Ebenezer Ahumah Djietror, the Clerk to Parliament, reinforced the call for openness, stressing that public trust remained central to Parliament’s legitimacy.
He intimated the need to strengthen Right to Information systems to ensure citizens, whom he described as “the true owners of democracy,” have unhindered access to parliamentary processes.
Mr Sammy Obeng, Executive Director of Parliamentary Network Africa and Steering Committee Co-Chair, highlighted the importance of deeper collaboration between Parliament and civil society, emphasizing that Ghana’s leadership in the global Open Parliament movement must yield measurable results that directly benefit citizens.
Mrs Mary Addah, Executive Director of Transparency International Ghana and Co-Chair of the National OGP Steering Committee, assured the working group of civil society’s commitment to the reform process.
She called for closer alignment with national OGP priorities, in evidence gathering, and stronger citizen engagement.
Ghana, an OGP member since 2011, continues to demonstrate its commitment to open governance through successive National Action Plans.
The opening of Parliament, anchored on transparency, accountability, civic participation, and innovation, remains a key pillar of the country’s efforts to strengthen democratic governance.
The Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) has cautioned the general public about the growing number of suspected fraudulent investment schemes—commonly referred to as “money doubling” schemes—being advertised on some television stations across the country.
In a public notice, the SEC emphasised that these schemes promise unusually high returns with little or no risk, a characteristic typical of fraudulent operations designed to lure unsuspecting investors into handing over their money.
According to the Commission, none of the schemes currently being advertised have been approved, authorised, or licensed by the SEC.
It, therefore, urged the public to be vigilant and avoid investing in products or services offered by these unlicensed entities.
The SEC further warned individuals and groups involved in promoting such schemes that their actions constitute a criminal offence under Section 144(1) of the Securities Industry Act, as amended, and Section 294(1)(b) of the Companies Act. These laws prohibit public invitations or advertisements on securities-related products without proper licensing or clearance from the SEC.
The Commission encouraged the public to verify the licensing status of any investment firm or promoter by contacting its toll-free line, 0800100065, its main office numbers, 0302 768 970–2, or by emailing [email protected].
The SEC also disclosed that several entities have already been identified for engaging in these deceptive advertisements, though details were not immediately released.
The Commission reaffirmed its commitment to protecting investors and maintaining a fair, transparent, and efficient securities market.

The Private Newspapers and Online News Publishers Association of Ghana (PRINPAG) has lauded the Government of Ghana for proposing the establishment of a National Media Fund aimed at supporting the country’s media industry.
According to PRINPAG, the initiative comes at a crucial time when media organisations—especially smaller and privately owned outlets—are struggling with rising operational costs, declining advertising revenue, limited training opportunities, and increasing sustainability challenges. These constraints, the association noted, threaten the independence, vibrancy, and long-term survival of the media landscape.
PRINPAG extended special appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for his continued commitment to media development. The association recalled that the President first introduced the idea of a national media support system during his initial term in office, although the initiative could not be fully implemented before the administration ended in 2016.
The association expressed confidence that President Mahama’s renewed leadership would see the long-envisioned Media Development Fund fully realised and effectively operationalized.
While welcoming the proposal, PRINPAG urged the government to fast-track the processes required for the establishment and implementation of the fund to ensure journalists and media institutions receive timely support.
To ensure transparency and professional management, PRINPAG recommended that the fund be built on strong governance structures, including a dedicated Secretariat, a Fund Administrator, and an Independent Board composed of competent and experienced individuals.
The association further called on media stakeholders, development partners, civil society groups, the private sector, and the general public to support the initiative, emphasising that a resilient and independent media sector is essential for strengthening democracy, enhancing accountability, and advancing national development.
PRINPAG reaffirmed its commitment to collaborating with government and all relevant stakeholders to promote a free, vibrant, and sustainable media environment.

In a night that celebrated Ghana’s finest minds and boldest innovators, Michael Abbiw, Chief Executive Officer of MGA Consulting Ghana Limited and the President of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana, was honored as one of the Most Influential Corporate Leaders of the Decade 2025 at the Prestigious Ghana Entrepreneurs Awards 2025.
The recognition crowns more than two decades of visionary leadership, resilience, and transformational impact across Ghana’s business and corporate landscape.
A Visionary Rooted in Resilience
Born into a family of twelve in Mamobi and later moving to Awoshie, Michael’s life story is a powerful testament to determination, faith, and hard work. His entrepreneurial journey began at the age of 16, when he boldly took charge of his family’s small corn mill operation. By 17, he was fully independent paying his own school fees and sustaining himself through sheer grit.
“Survival wasn’t about what you had, but what you could create, “he said.
From carrying gas cylinders at a fuel station to funding his education at Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), where he graduated with First-Class Honors, Michael’s journey reflects an extraordinary rise powered by perseverance and vision.
Academic and Professional Excellence
A consummate academic and lifelong learner, Michael holds an MPhil in Entrepreneurship and Corporate Strategy from Methodist University, Ghana, an MBA in Business Administration from KNUST, and a Postgraduate Diploma from the Chartered Institute of Marketing (UK). He is a Chartered Marketer, a Fellow of the National Institute of Marketing Nigeria (FNIMN), the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (FCIMG), the Institute of Directors (FIoD), and the Chartered Institute of Leadership and Governance (FCILG).
Beyond the titles, he is a Certified Mentor and Certified Governance Expert from London Business Training & Consulting, credentials that reflect his commitment to leadership grounded in ethics and impact.
The Architect of MGA Consulting’s Transformation
Under Michael’s leadership, MGA Consulting Ghana Limited has evolved from a small startup into a continental consulting powerhouse, offering expertise in Human Resource Solutions, Capacity Building, Research and Development, Entrepreneurial Support, and Outsourcing Consultancy Services.
The company’s footprint now extends beyond Ghana, with a growing presence in Nigeria, where MGA Consulting successfully launched training programs that attracted strong participation and rave reviews.
But the road wasn’t easy. In 2015, MGA nearly collapsed due to failed hire-purchase ventures. “The darkest moment came when even friends wouldn’t answer our calls,” Michael recounts. Yet by 2020, through persistence and faith, MGA Consulting secured major partnerships with GIZ and the World Bank, catapulting it back to life.
Today, MGA Consulting is a trusted research partner for institutions such as the National Insurance Commission and the UNDP, and the driving force behind flagship national initiatives like the Ghana Digital Innovation Week (GDIW) and the National Sales Leaders Conference (NSLC), two of Ghana’s most influential platforms advancing innovation and sales leadership.
Leadership Across Boardrooms
Michael’s influence extends far beyond MGA. He currently serves as:
National President and Chairman of the Governing Council of the Chartered Institute of Marketing, Ghana (CIMG)
Independent Board Member of the Ghana Association of Savings and Loans Companies (GHASALC)
Board Chairman of Securisk Insurance Brokers Limited
Board Member of Built Financials
Board Member of e-Crimes Bureau
In every capacity, he has proven himself a strategic thinker, reformer, and mentor dedicated to institutional excellence and sustainable growth.
A Maverick with a Mission
Michael’s professional journey is deeply intertwined with his mission to develop people and empower leaders. Over the years, he has trained over 500 professionals, authored several training manuals, and delivered numerous lectures that blend theory with real-world business insight.
He believes leadership must be human-centered. “True success isn’t in the titles or accounts,” he says, “but in how many lives you elevate along your climb.”
Why He Deserves This Honor
Michael Abbiw’s recognition as one of Ghana’s Most Influential Corporate Leaders of the Decade 2025 is not merely a reflection of his professional accomplishments; it is a celebration of his character, resilience, and transformative leadership.
From building businesses that create jobs to influencing national policy conversations, from mentoring the next generation of leaders to serving on critical boards that shape Ghana’s economic landscape, Michael Abbiw has consistently demonstrated that leadership is service, not status.
His story from a determined young boy in Mamobi to one of Africa’s most respected corporate minds embodies the spirit of the Ghana Entrepreneurs Awards: courage, innovation, and purpose-driven success.
About the Ghana Entrepreneurs Awards
The Prestigious Ghana Entrepreneurs Awards celebrate individuals and organizations that exemplify innovation, integrity, and impact. The 2025 edition brought together Ghana’s top business icons, thought leaders, and policymakers to recognize those driving national growth through entrepreneurship and leadership excellence.
A Legacy of Impact
As the applause from the awards night fades, one truth remains clear: Michael Abbiw’s story has only begun a new chapter. His vision for the next decade includes scaling MGA Consulting’s model across ECOWAS, using the MGA Foundation to support youth entrepreneurship.
For Michael Abbiw, every achievement is a reminder that humble beginnings are not a limitation; they are the foundation for greatness.

Colonel Kwadwo Damoah is the former Commissioner General of the Customs Division of the GRA
Former Commissioner General of the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA), Colonel Kwadwo Damoah, has expressed patience and readiness to face charges alongside Ken Ofori-Atta and others.
The case, involving alleged corruption and procurement breaches related to the Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML) scandal, was adjourned to a later date.
The Member of Parliament for Jaman South, Col Damoah, who appeared in Court on Monday, November 24, where he was expected to be arraigned, stated that he and his lawyers are awaiting the new court date, emphasising their availability and cooperation with the judicial process.
“We have been summoned to come to Court and we have made ourselves available, so if they say the case has been adjourned to another day, we will just wait patiently until that day comes,” Col Damoah, who is the sixth accused person, spoke to EIB Network’s Legal Affairs Correspondent in Court.
“When we get to Court and we are told of the charges, we will say what we have to say,” the Member of Parliament for Jaman South said when asked about his initial reaction to the combined 78 counts on the Charge Sheet.
On Monday, November 24, 2025, Col Damoah and his lawyers, led by Bob Sanyelah, appeared at the Law Court Complex in Accra ahead of their arraignment.
However, upon reaching the premises, they were informed that the case had been rescheduled.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) had formally charged former Minister of Finance Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta and seven others with 78 counts of corruption and corruption-related offences connected to the controversial revenue assurance contracts awarded to Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML).
play videoPearl P Tehoda is the Executive Director of the HR summit
Experts at the HR Professional Summit 2025 have called for stronger strategic leadership across organisations to drive business success and improve returns for shareholders.
The summit, held on November 21, 2025, at the Mövenpick Ambassador Hotel, was themed “Redefining the People Leadership Blueprint.”
Organisers say the event aims to provide a leadership roadmap for both Ghana and Africa.
Executive Director of the summit, Pearl P. Tehoda, told GhanaWeb TV that the goal is to bring thought leaders together to share insights on effective people management.
“HRs are doing their best; we want to add to their voice. We want to give them strategies on how they can lead people, how they can lead their organisations so they are able to deliver return on investment for their shareholders,” she stated.
Tehoda explained that the summit includes a follow-up system through which the strategies shared will be forwarded to participants, along with tasks to guide implementation.
She added that a quarterly follow-up plan will help address organisational challenges and ensure measurable impact.
Industry leader Kweku Awotwi, who attended the summit, stressed the importance of HR professionals fully understanding the businesses they operate in and the expectations of customers and stakeholders.
He warned that repeated failures in leadership can damage public trust.
“I don’t think any company can afford to fail multiple times because companies have a public trust, and the more you fail, it means the more you are not able to deliver on the company’s objectives,” he said.
The summit also featured panel discussions with experts in the HR and PR fields, including Michael Abbiw, Lizzy Kwagbedzi, Patrick A. Akanpaaba and others, who shared insights on strengthening leadership across organisations.
Liverpool forward Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva died in a car crash in July
Real Madrid have apologised after using a picture of the wrong footballer in a video paying tribute to Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva.
The video shown at the Spanish club’s ordinary general assembly featured a photo of Jota alongside a picture of Elche and Portugal forward Andre da Silva, 30.
Liverpool and Portugal forward Jota died in a car crash in July at the age of 28, along with his 25-year-old brother, who was a professional footballer with Portuguese second-tier club Penafiel.
“Real Madrid CF apologises to Elche CF and its player André da Silva for having mistakenly included his image in the obituary of an institutional video instead of that of André Silva, the brother of Diogo Jota, the Liverpool player,” the club said in a statement on X.
“We regret this incident.”
Elche striker Silva, who has represented Portugal 53 times, was Jota’s team-mate at Porto and also played for AC Milan, Eintracht Frankfurt, and RB Leipzig.
His side drew 2-2 with Real in a La Liga encounter on Sunday.
Earlier in November, representatives of the Madrid club – including Trent Alexander-Arnold, Dean Huijsen, and manager Xabi Alonso – placed a wreath in memory of Jota at Anfield before their Champions League meeting with Liverpool.
A card written by former Reds full-back Alexander-Arnold read: “My mate Diogo, you are so missed but still so loved. Yours and Andre’s memories will always live on. I smile every time I think about you and will always remember the great times we shared. Miss you, mate, every day. Love Trent and family.”
Actress Etinosa Idemudia has called out Senator Ned Nwoko after his recent remarks about his wife, actress Regina Daniels.
In a series of posts shared on her Instagram Stories, Etinosa criticised the lawmaker for repeatedly bringing Regina into public conversations, especially during a period when the country is dealing with serious issues.
She wrote:
“The more you try to embarrass the mother of your children, the more you embarrass yourself don’t you know??? Look at Nigerian senator. In these trying times in Nigeria is this your top priority? At your old age you don’t know how to manage your marital affairs. Carry microphone sir. Shame hide me for Oluwanaira bathroom. Tuehhhh.”
The University of Ghana has strongly refuted allegations made by private legal practitioner Moses Foh-Amoaning that the institution has altered its statutes to accept LGBTQ+ activities on campus.
The claims were carried in a GhanaWeb report on Friday, 21st November 2025, following comments Mr. Foh-Amoaning made during an interview on Onua FM’s “Yɛn Nsempa” programme.
In the interview, Mr. Foh-Amoaning, who also serves as Executive Secretary of the National Coalition for Proper Human Sexual Rights and Family Values, alleged that the University’s Council, led by the Vice-Chancellor, had amended the institution’s statutes to accept transgender and LGBT+ activities.
He further claimed that his organisation had written to the University seeking clarification but received no response.
However, in an official statement issued on 24th November 2025, the University described the allegations as false, misleading and defamatory. Management clarified that the recent review of its statutes, conducted in 2024, did not introduce any provisions endorsing or admitting LGBTQ+ activities.
According to the statement, the revisions were made strictly in line with national laws and the University’s regulatory framework.
The University explained that the only changes involved the replacement of gender-specific pronouns such as “he,” “she,” “him,” and “her” with gender-neutral terms like “they” and “their.” This, it stated, was simply a linguistic update to streamline the statutes and align them with modern English usage.
The institution noted that the singular “they” has been widely accepted in academic, legal and even religious texts over the past two decades, citing the 2011 New International Version (NIV) Bible as an example.
To illustrate the nature of the changes, the University provided an example showing how a clause previously referring to a council member as “his or her” was revised to use a gender-neutral construction without altering meaning or introducing new provisions.
The statement also revealed that the University had responded to enquiries from Mr. Foh-Amoaning’s coalition. A letter dated 10th November 2025 clarified the University’s stance on pronoun adjustments in the statutes, contrary to the claim that no response had been issued.
Management further condemned what it described as an unwarranted personal attack on the Vice-Chancellor. The University stated that attempts to personalise an institutional governance matter and to impugn the Vice-Chancellor’s integrity were in bad faith. It emphasised that no Vice-Chancellor holds unilateral authority to change University statutes, and therefore the allegations targeting her were unacceptable.
The University has demanded an immediate retraction of the false statements and a public apology from Mr. Foh-Amoaning. Failure to do so, it warned, would compel the institution to pursue legal action to defend its reputation and that of its leadership.
In addition, the University urged GhanaWeb, Onua FM and other media organisations to exercise greater responsibility when reporting on sensitive institutional matters. It cautioned that amplifying unverified claims misleads the public and harms the credibility of national institutions. Media houses were encouraged to verify information with the University’s Public Affairs Directorate before publication.
Despite the controversy, the University reaffirmed its commitment to academic excellence, ethical governance and the creation of a safe and lawful environment for all members of its community. Management stressed that it remains focused on its mission of delivering transformative education and impactful research and will not be distracted by unfounded allegations.
Evangelist, Papa Shee, has hinted of a new date for the funeral of the late highlife legend, Daddy Lumba, revealing that the ceremony is likely to be held next year.
Speaking on UTV, Papa Shee explained that the new proposed date had the backing of the musician’s sister, Akosua Brempomaa, along with several other family members.
“Lumba’s December 13 funeral cannot take place, it will be rescheduled to March 14 2026,” he said, adding that the family is yet to convey a meeting with the family head on the new proposed date.
The proposed date directly clashes with the 13 December 2025 burial date already agreed upon with the Manhyia Palace, raising fresh uncertainty about the final funeral arrangements for the iconic artiste.
Papa Shee’s declaration has ignited conversation among fans, industry players, and the general public, many of whom are now awaiting an official statement from Daddy Lumba’s immediate family to clarify the conflicting timelines.
Star Ghana Foundation has gathered over 500 young leaders, policymakers and development actors in Koforidua for the 2025 Ghana Youth Summit, where stakeholders urged government to translate the discussions into actionable policies and initiatives for the youth.
The stakeholders also called on youths not to wear political party colours and form a collective force to drive national development.
Speaking at the summit, Head of Programmes-Star Ghana Foundation, Eunice Agbenyadzi, charged the youth to recognise their collective power in tackling issues like unemployment, illegal mining and corruption.
“The youth must remain non-partisan and united for national progress,” Ms. Agbenyadzi urged, emphasising the importance of cohesion in driving change.
The two-day event focused on unlocking potentials of the nation’s youth for national development. Held under the theme ‘Harnessing the Power of Youth for Transformative Development’, the event served as a platform for dialogue, idea-sharing and co-creation of sustainable solutions to pressing national challenges.
The discussions centred on critical areas for youth advancement, including active participation in governance, entrepreneurship, mental health, digital inclusion and mechanisms for exacting accountability from leaders.
The Eastern Regional Minister, Rita Adjei Awatey, expressed government’s commitment to ensuring realising the full potential of youth in the country.
In a speech read on her behalf, she commended organisers for their onerous efforts toward empowering young people in the country and reaffirmed that government is committed to fostering entrepreneurship and civic participation among the youth.
However, New Juaben South Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) Ransford Tetteh suggested a paradigm-shift, calling for youth to be put at the forefront of governance and national development. He said they are innovators and key drivers of national development. Hence, they should not be absent from the decision-making table.
The 2025 Ghana Youth Summit was held under the Action for Youth Development (AfYD) project in collaboration with Youth Advocates Ghana, Kofkro Partners, New Juaben South Municipal Assembly and National Youth Authority (NYA), with support from the Botnar Foundation.

The CEO of the Greater Accra Poultry Farmers Association, Ali Mohammed, has announced that eggs will be sold at significantly reduced prices at the upcoming Channel One TV AgriFair, scheduled for November 28–30, 2025, at the Efua Sutherland Children’s Park in Accra.
The announcement comes on the back of an egg glut currently affecting the poultry industry.
Billed as “Ghana’s biggest exhibition and sale of fresh farm produce,” the three-day fair will run from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, with free entry for all visitors. The event aims to bring together farmers, agro-processors, agritech innovators, agribusinesses, financial institutions, and consumers to promote food security and support growth in Ghana’s agricultural sector.
Speaking on the Citi Breakfast Show, Mr. Mohammed said, “We have already registered, and we will be coming. No egg will be sold at the current market rate. I am telling you that the highest you will get there will be around GHC45 or even GHC47 per crate.”
The maiden edition in June 2025 attracted large crowds eager to purchase fresh produce at affordable prices. Organisers say the second edition will feature even greater participation and a more immersive experience, including practical training sessions in fish farming and poultry production.
The expanded Training Clinic will also cover snail farming and piggery, offering hands-on skills and technical knowledge to help agribusinesses improve productivity and profitability.
Organisers note that these sessions complement the fair’s broader goal of showcasing innovations, fostering partnerships, and strengthening the agricultural value chain.
Interested participants can register by calling 055 897 3973.

Asante Kotoko SC has been charged by the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for alleged misconduct following their Matchday 11 Premier League game against FC Samartex 1996.
According to the GFA, the club breached Section 34(6)(d) of the 2025 Premier League Regulations.
The Association said Asante Kotoko published comments on social media that were considered inciteful and a possible trigger for violence against the match official.
The GFA noted that such conduct brings the game into disrepute.
The club has until Wednesday, November 26, 2025, to officially respond to the charge.
The GFA says it will continue to enforce its regulations to maintain discipline, protect match officials, and ensure a safe environment for all stakeholders in the league.
A staff member of the Electoral Commission (EC), Joseph Blankson Adumadzie, has petitioned President John Dramani Mahama to begin processes for the removal of EC Chairperson Jean Mensa and her two deputies, Dr Bossman Eric Asare and Samuel Tettey, over alleged misconduct.
In a report by citinewsroom.com on Monday, November 24, 2025, Adumadzie confirmed that the petition was filed in accordance with Article 146 of the 1992 Constitution, which outlines procedures for the removal of heads of independent constitutional bodies.
He declined to give full details of the petition, citing legal restrictions, but disclosed that it is based on 12 counts of stated misbehaviour.
Group petitions Mahama for removal of Jean Mensa, her two deputies
The allegations include cronyism, abuse of office, and gross incompetence.
Adumadzie also argued that the conduct of the three senior officials has weakened public confidence in the EC and poses a threat to the integrity and independence of Ghana’s electoral process.
He stated that his action is motivated by a desire to safeguard the constitution and promote accountable governance, stressing the importance of protecting the dignity of the Electoral Commission as a crucial institution in the country’s democratic framework.
Petition to remove EC Chair, deputies linger
Adumadzie further called on President Mahama to fulfil his constitutional obligations by referring the petition to the Chief Justice for the establishment of a prima facie case, as required under Article 146.

Cole Palmer (L) and Morgan Rogers (R) both use the Cold celebration
Cole Palmer’s shiver celebration has quickly become one of football’s most recognisable gestures, a folded-arms, icy-calm pose that fans now associate almost instantly with Chelsea’s rising star.
But while Palmer has successfully trademarked the celebration and begun building a commercial identity around it, the debate over who the “Cold” celebration truly belongs to is far from settled.
In fact, several footballers and even athletes from other sports claim to have done it first.
The conversation resurfaced after Palmer’s motion-mark trademark was officially approved by the UK Intellectual Property Office.
Proposals, Supercars and Concert Nights: How absent Black Stars players spent the international break
The registration gives him exclusive commercial rights to the gesture in adverts, merchandise, branding, and even video games, meaning companies like EA Sports FC would now require his permission to use the celebration.
But the decision also reignited a question many fans have been asking for months: Is the shiver truly Palmer’s original creation?
Morgan Rogers certainly doesn’t think so. The Aston Villa forward and former Manchester City academy teammate of Palmer insists he performed the celebration first.
A week before Palmer’s December 2023 debut of the gesture at Kenilworth Road, Rogers had celebrated with the same folded-arm shiver in a Middlesbrough match.
He has repeated in several interviews that Palmer “definitely copied” him, joking that the timeline proves the move originated from him.
Villa themselves even leaned into the banter, posting an image of Rogers doing the celebration with the caption “trademark” in a playful jab at Palmer.
But Rogers isn’t the only player who feels the celebration predates Chelsea’s star. Valencia’s Diego López has also claimed the celebration.
“I haven’t received the receipt yet,” he joked in an interview earlier this year, suggesting he had long used the celebration before it reached Premier League spotlight.
And beyond football, several athletes in other sports, most notably the NBA’s Trae Young, known as “Ice Trae” have incorporated the shiver pose into their trademark moments for years.
Even globally recognised football icons have ventured into celebration ownership. Kylian Mbappé’s folded-arms pose is trademarked. Cristiano Ronaldo’s famous “Siuuu,” Gareth Bale’s heart-hands, and Erling Haaland’s yoga pose are all registered marks.
Compared to theirs, Palmer’s decision to trademark his gesture fits into a growing trend: players treating celebrations not just as expressions of emotion but as brand assets.
Yet legally, none of the origin stories matter. Trademark law is clear: ownership belongs not to the person who first created the gesture, but to the person who registers it.
Intellectual property experts say that unless someone else had previously trademarked the shiver or opposed Palmer’s application, the Chelsea forward was free to claim the rights, regardless of who did it first on a pitch somewhere.
So, while the debate over who invented the “Cold” celebration might continue in dressing rooms and social-media comment sections, only one answer holds up in the world of trademarks: Cole Palmer owns it.
The rest, the banter, the bragging rights, and the claims of who came before simply add more flavour to one of football’s most entertaining celebration mysteries.
Rapper, Agbeko, has officially begun rehabilitation at Pantang Hospital after initially declining help, fellow rapper, Edem, has confirmed.
In an update shared on X on November 21, 2025, Edem revealed that Agbeko reached out expressing readiness to seek treatment. Edem and his team at the Volta Regime Group (VRMG) immediately arranged for him to start rehabilitation and pledged to cover all costs.
“It’s with great joy that I share with all well-wishers and family that Agbeko reached out this week and said he was ready to get help. My team at VRMG and I arranged for him to begin rehabilitation at Pantang and pledged to take care of all expenses during his stay,” Edem said.
Agbeko’s decision comes just days after he earlier rejected Edem’s offer to let him join the rehabilitation programme at Pantang. His career has suffered in recent years due to prolonged struggles with drug use.
Public concern intensified after a viral video showed Agbeko asking media personality, Andy Dosty, for money to buy food. During an interview on Hitz FM shortly after, Agbeko revealed he had been introduced to drugs by an ex-partner.
The video sparked widespread reactions which encouraged Edem to intervene. Committed to helping a colleague whose talent once shone across the industry, Edem invested time and effort in guiding Agbeko toward recovery.

Thaddeus Sory (L), Gertrude Torkornoo and Alexander Afenyo-Markin
Private legal practitioner Thaddeus Sory has alleged that the Minority Leader, Alexander Kwamena Afenyo-Markin, and the removed Chief Justice, Gertrude Torkornoo, are related.
According to him, the family ties between the two played a key role in the petition filed by his client for her removal.
Sacked Chief Justice Torkornoo wins key ruling against government at ECOWAS Court
“That is his (Afenyo-Markin) sister; the removed Chief Justice is his sister; they come from the same place. When her father died, the Minority Leader hosted her visitors, and people who were there called me,” he stated in an interview with KSM, monitored by GhanaWeb on November 24, 2025.
He suggested that the Minority Leader’s personal interest in the matter may have shaped the collective positions taken in Parliament.
Under Torkonoo’s watch, Afenyo-Markin secured Supreme Court panel within two hours – Thaddeus Sory
“He sold it out to his colleagues to believe that, well, we all have to take the collective position against this, but it is a personal interest. … And so he’s crying, crying louder than every other person because he has an interest in the woman being there,” he noted.
After two years in office, Gertrude Torkornoo was removed, making her the second Chief Justice in Ghanaian history to be removed from office.
The first was Justice Sir Arku Korsah, who was sacked by Ghana’s first leader, President Kwame Nkrumah, in 1963.
President John Dramani Mahama acted on the recommendation of a constitutional committee formed under Article 146 of the 1992 Constitution, which probed three petitions accusing her of misconduct in office.

The Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), has been appointed as Vice Chair in 2026 and as Chair in 2027 of the Kimberley Process (KP).
The announcement of the appointment was made on November 21, 2025, during the closing session of the 2025 Kimberley Process Plenary, held at the ALMAS Conference Centre, in Dubai.
The appointment, which followed two days of intensive deliberations, ministerial engagements, and consultations among governments, industry stakeholders, and civil society, makes the country the first in West Africa to serve as Vice Chair and Chair of the Kimberley Process.
Per the governance structure of the Kimberley Process, the Chair and Vice Chair are appointed by Plenary consensus.
They oversee the implementation of the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme (KPCS) and the operations of the working groups, committees and administration that activate the KP.
Observers at the Plenary noted that a statement delivered during the Ministerial Session by the Chief Executive Officer of the GoldBod, Sammy Gyamfi Esq., helped set the tone and contributed to the strong confidence expressed in Ghana’s leadership.
The announcement was met with warm applause from delegates, signaling broad consensus and trust in Ghana’s capability to steer the global body.
Delegates also commended Ghana for its growing leadership in the global minerals sector, citing the country’s transparency initiatives, institutional reforms and technical competence, particularly in gold and diamond governance.
In an interview, the CEO of GoldBod, Mr. Gyamfi, confirmed the appointment indicating that, the confidence expressed by the global membership of the Kimberley Process in Ghana, places a renewed responsibility on the country to lead with excellence, transparency, and innovation. And that with the solid foundation of reforms already underway, particularly in gold and diamond governance, Ghana is well-positioned to guide the Kimberley Process into its next chapter global impact.
The Kimberley Process
The Kimberley Process was established in 2003 by the United Nations. It is a multilateral certification scheme designed to prevent conflict diamonds from entering the legitimate global supply chain. Its core object is to ensure that revenues from diamonds do not finance armed conflict, terrorism, or civil instability.
The Kimberley Process currently brings together 86 countries, represented by governments, the World Diamond Council (industry), and the KP Civil Society Coalition.
Over the past two decades, the Kimberley Process has achieved notable successes including substantial reduction in illicit diamond flows, especially from formerly war-torn regions; the establishment of a unified global certification regime, improving traceability and transparency; the provision of a cooperative platform for governments, industry, and civil society to address emerging risks, among others.
Nana Poku Bosompim, the Western Regional Head of Forestry Commission, has revealed that illegal miners, commonly known as galamseyers, are using juju to fortify themselves.
According to Nana Poku Bosompim, galamseyers are using “spiritually fortified” armed groups who believe they are immune to bullets and machetes, making the fight against illegal mining even more challenging.

He will also visit the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park to honour Ghana’s first President and his wife, Fathia Nkrumah.
Prince Edward, The Duke of Edinburgh, is the brother of His Majesty The King Charles III and the youngest child of the late Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip, the late Duke of Edinburgh.
Speaking ahead of the visit, British High Commissioner to Ghana, H.E. Dr Christian Rogg, described the Duke’s visit as a reaffirmation of mutual commitment between the two nations.
“His Royal Highness’s visit to Ghana is a celebration of the strong and evolving relationship between the UK and Ghana,” Dr Rogg said.
He continued, “It’s about recognising our shared values and the real impact of our collaboration, from education and climate action to inclusive development and innovation. It also honours Ghana’s vital role and enduring leadership within the Commonwealth.”
The Duke will round off his visit by attending the King’s Birthday Party at the British High Commissioner’s residence, an annual event bringing together government leaders, the private sector, civil society, and the diplomatic community to celebrate and strengthen UK-Ghana relations.

The November international break is over, and while the Black Stars returned from Asia with two defeats and plenty of questions, an entirely different storyline was unfolding away from the pitch.
When Ghana’s Black Stars flew to Asia for the Kirin Cup encounters against Japan and South Korea, a significant group of key players was missing from the traveling squad.
Some were injured, others were recovering, and a few were simply not selected despite being fully fit.
But while the results on the pitch in Tokyo and Seoul told one story, back-to-back defeats with a largely experimental team, the players who stayed behind were writing a very different script.
Check out Kudus Mohammed’s rating in Tottenham’s 4-1 defeat against Arsenal
Their international break was filled with proposals, supercars, concerts, quiet recovery sessions, and glimpses into their lives away from the national team spotlight.
Fatawu Issahaku: Ferrari entrance at Tidal Rave
Abdul Fatawu Issahaku became the Black Stars’ most talked-about absentee. Despite being fully fit, the Leicester City winger was left out of the Black Stars squad for the November window.
And while his teammates were in Seoul preparing for South Korea, Fatawu made a dramatic appearance at the Tidal Rave concert in Accra.
He arrived in an eye-catching sea-blue Ferrari, flanked by bodyguards, a moment that instantly went viral. Fans at the event were stunned to see him, especially as the national team was thousands of miles away.
After the show, he returned to London and made his mark, assisting the second goal in Leicester’s 2–1 win over Stoke City on Saturday, November 22, 2025.
Antoine Semenyo’s proposal
While injury forced Antoine Semenyo out of the Black Stars camp after the Japan game, the break turned into a life-changing moment for him.
On Tuesday, November 18, the Bournemouth forward proposed to his longtime girlfriend, Jordeen Buckley. The couple, together for five years, shared elegant, intimate photos from the proposal on Instagram.
Buckley, a London-based entrepreneur, glowed in the pictures as Semenyo went down on one knee in a beautifully decorated setting.
It was a rare personal highlight in what has been a busy and physically demanding season for the striker.
Kudus and Issahaku pop up in London concert scene
While Issahaku had his Accra moment, London also had its own star sightings. Highlife singer Fameye held a successful concert at the Steel Yard, and among the audience were two big names: Mohammed Kudus and Fatawu Issahaku.
Kudus, recovering from a knock and managing his workload, kept a low profile during the break. His appearance at the concert reaffirmed that he was in London, focusing on club-related treatment and recovery.
The recovery paid off as he was named in the starting eleven for Tottenham’s London derby against Arsenal on Sunday, November 23, 2025.
He, however, could do nothing as his side fell to a humiliating 4-1 defeat.
Partey and Jordan Ayew: Quiet club commitments
Two of Ghana’s most experienced players also missed the Asia trip: Thomas Partey and Jordan Ayew. Partey stayed with Villarreal throughout the break to continue recovery and conditioning.
His work paid off immediately: right after the international window, he was named in the starting XI for Villarreal’s home clash against Mallorca, playing 63 minutes in a 2–1 win.
Jordan Ayew, meanwhile, remained at Leicester City. He was an unused substitute in their 2–1 win over Stoke City, the same match where Issahaku delivered an assist.
Inaki Williams: Physio room over camp
Athletic Bilbao star Iñaki Williams spent the international break in rehabilitation mode.
Battling a groin injury, he stayed in Spain and worked with the club’s physios instead of joining Ghana. He was not fit enough to feature in Bilbao’s crucial league match against Barcelona immediately after the break.
A break with different stories
In total, Ghana missed key figures such as Partey, Jordan, Kudus, Fatawu, Iñaki, and Semenyo for the Kirin Cup. Even Semenyo, who played against Japan, had to withdraw from the match against South Korea due to injury.
With the absences came opportunities for fringe players, although the team ultimately lost both games.
But away from the demanding travel and training in Asia, the international break unfolded differently for those who stayed behind.
The Abossey Okai Spare Parts Dealers Association has reported that prices of spare parts have started to decline and are expected to continue falling through the end of the year.
This development follows recent engagements led by the Minister for Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, with the leadership of the Ghana Union of Traders Association (GUTA), spare parts dealers, and transport operators.
During these meetings, stakeholders were urged to address persistent price irregularities and the recent spikes recorded across major markets.
Speaking to Citi News on Monday, November 24, the Association’s Head of Communications, Takyi Addo, said a meeting is scheduled this week with importers and retailers to negotiate further price reductions, which could extend into 2026.
“Some prices have already been reduced, but more needs to be done. The reductions we expect are not yet fully visible. From now until the end of the year, more prices will drop, and in 2026, we anticipate a 9.9% reduction in our surplus industry,” Mr Addo explained.
He added that the association is actively educating retailers and engaging with importers, noting that the majority of market players are retailers, while importers are relatively few.
“We are now talking to importers because most of the people are retailers; the importers are very few,” he said.
Cousin and treasurer for the late Daddy Lumba’s funeral committee, Ebenezer Oppong, has reprimanded highlife musician turned preacher, Papa Shee to be careful of spreading contradicting information about the funeral date.
He explained that the funeral date came directly from Otumfuor and the Menhyia palace and no third party has the right to change it
‘I believe women were contracted to cause chaos at Lumba hearing’ – Vida Adutwumwaa alleges
“Nobody can change the date, Otumfuor has set his own date, Menhyia set the date so if anyone says anything contrary to that it is disrespect to Otumfuor and Menhyia. Papa Shee should be careful because he is not a family member,” he said.
Ebenezer reaffirmed the date and added that preparations have even begun for the funeral on the 13th of December 2025.
“Nobody should contradict the date because we have already mounted billboards and on the 13th of December, the funeral will be held live,” he added.
What Papa Shee said
Recently, Papa Shee stated that the advertised December 13, 2025, date for Daddy Lumba’s funeral will not hold, citing several unresolved issues that he said some family members are seeking to first address.
Speaking on UTV’s United Showbiz on November 22, 2025, Papa Shee said some family members of the late musician had told him the burial cannot take place on the said date because key processes, including an autopsy and investigations into the cause of death, are still outstanding.
MIIF hosts High Commissioner of Zambia to Ghana, Daniel Mahongo
The Chief Executive Officer of the Minerals Income Investment Fund (MIIF), Justina Nelson, has stated that Ghana and Zambia have a strong opportunity to collaborate to optimize their mineral resources for the benefit of present and future generations in their respective countries.
She noted that the two mineral-rich nations can also learn from each other’s experiences, share technical expertise, and explore co-investment opportunities in areas of mutual interest within the mineral value chain, as they seek to re-write the narrative of the continent’s fledgling mining sector.
Nelson made the observation when MIIF hosted the High Commissioner of the Republic of Zambia to Ghana, Daniel Mahongo, and his delegation during a familiarisation visit aimed at strengthening bilateral cooperation within Africa’s mineral value chain.
Welcoming the delegation, MIIF’s Chief Executive Officer described the visit as a significant step toward deepening collaboration between Ghana and Zambia, two mineral-rich nations committed to transforming natural resource wealth into sustainable, long-term prosperity.
Nelson noted that MIIF, Ghana’s sovereign wealth fund for mineral revenues, remains focused on maximising value from the country’s mineral portfolio, including gold, lithium, manganese, diamonds, and emerging critical minerals, through strategic investment, value addition, local content development, and inter-generational wealth creation.
She highlighted Zambia’s leadership in the copper and cobalt sectors and emphasised the mutual opportunities for learning, investment, and partnership across both countries’ mineral ecosystems.
During the meeting, MIIF, through two elaborate presentations, shared insights into its governance structure, investment philosophy, and risk management frameworks, while the Zambian delegation outlined its priorities in export diversification, investment promotion, and economic transformation.
Both sides identified key areas for collaboration, including joint investments, technical cooperation, strategies, and the development of Africa’s emerging 24-hour mining economy. Consequently, MIIF proposed the establishment of a Joint Technical Working Group to advance these commitments.
Nelson further expressed appreciation for the productive engagement, expressing confidence that the visit marks the beginning of a strong and enduring partnership that will deliver measurable benefits to both countries.
Mahongo, for his part, expressed gratitude to MIIF for the warm reception and the opportunity to engage.
He reaffirmed Zambia’s commitment to leveraging its mineral wealth for development, industrialization, and diversification, highlighting ongoing reforms in state participation, licensing, artisanal and small-scale mining (ASM) formalization, and innovative investment vehicles.
He emphasised Zambia’s interest in learning from MIIF’s governance and portfolio strategies to enhance responsible and sustainable mineral income management.
The High Commissioner also outlined Zambia’s openness to regional cooperation through memoranda of understanding (MoUs), joint initiatives, and engagement with the private sector in downstream mining, processing, and royalty-backed investments.
He expressed confidence that stronger collaboration will support Zambia’s reform agenda, promote sustainable growth, and turn its mineral resources into long-term national prosperity.

Section of the graduates. INSET: Ing. Dr. Peter Godslove Debrah
Founder and CEO of Pedlo Energy Company PLC, Ing. Dr. Peter Godslove Debrah, has advised entrepreneurs to harness Artificial Intelligence (AI) to create meaningful solutions for society, pointing to opportunities in smart agriculture, digital finance, predictive maintenance, virtual learning, automated logistics, and AI-powered healthcare.
Speaking during the Entrepreneurship Training Institute’s (ETI) 12th Congregation in Accra, he urged graduates to embrace technology not as a substitute for human potential but as a powerful tool for national development.
Speaking on the theme, “Redefining Entrepreneurship for National Development in the AI Era,” Dr. Debrah described the graduating class as people with “refined minds.” He further noted that the graduating class are individuals he believes have been prepared to confront the evolving demands of a world transformed by AI.
“Artificial Intelligence is not here to replace you; it is here to empower you,” he affirmed, seeking to dispel doubts about the future of work in the digital age.
“Look at Elon Musk, look at Aliko Dangote, their names have become continents of inspiration because they sacrificed and built. Technology did not make them—it was their courage,” he said.
Dr. Debrah also offered an honest reflection on the difficulties of the entrepreneurial journey, cautioning graduates that sacrifice is inevitable.
“You will lose sleep. You will miss family moments. You will exchange your social life for your dream, but if you endure, there is joy at the end of the tunnel,” he said.
He further advised graduates to protect their integrity and steer clear of politics that may compromise their credibility. Instead, he encouraged them to be disciplined, ethical, and focused on building solutions rather than contributing to societal noise. “Be citizens with a difference—builders, not noise makers,” he stressed.

During his stay, the Duke is expected to engage with President John Dramani Mahama, interact with traditional leaders, meet entrepreneurs, and observe UK-supported development initiatives across education and environmental sustainability.
On Monday, November 24, the Duke will travel to Aburi, where he will visit a kindergarten and a teacher-training classroom at the Presbyterian Women’s College of Education.
The engagement will showcase how Sabre Education, working with the Government of Ghana and supported by the UK, is enhancing play-based early childhood education and strengthening Ghana’s teacher preparation systems.

Between November 15 and 23, 2025, several disturbing incidents involving children were reported across Ghana, sparking outrage and renewed calls for stronger child protection measures.
During this period, minors were subjected to shocking acts of abuse, ranging from adults irresponsibly introducing them to alcohol, to a caretaker allegedly pouring hot water on a nine‑year‑old girl simply because she defecated in a room.
These acts have been widely condemned as abusive and unacceptable, raising serious concerns about the responsibilities of caregivers and the enforcement of child protection laws.
Below is a list of some of the reported cases regarding children in the last week.
Caretaker allegedly pours hot water on nine-year-old girl for ‘defecating’ in room
One of the most alarming cases occurred at Duase in the Kumasi Metropolis on Saturday, November 22, 2025, when a nine‑year‑old girl was allegedly assaulted by her elder sister, identified as Beauty Inakwe.
According to reports, the suspect poured hot water on the child and cut her hand after she defecated in their room. Residents claim the suspect, known in the area as a sex worker, has been abusing the girl for months.
Neighbours revealed that the suspect often locked the victim and her own child inside their single room at night while she left for work. With no toilet facility available, the children relied on a public restroom.
When the girl was unable to reach it in time, she reportedly resorted to relieving herself in a plastic bag — a situation that frequently led to severe punishment.
Although the victim has since been discharged from hospital, she told neighbours she remains in great pain and described a pattern of abuse at the hands of her sister.
Police at the Kenyase District Command arrested the suspect but later granted her bail on Saturday, November 23, 2025.
Couple arrested for allegedly beating 13-year-old daughter to death at Kokrobite
Another disturbing case was recorded on Friday, November 21, 2025, at Kokrobite in Accra, where a couple allegedly beat a 13‑year‑old girl, identified as Janet Ntiamoah, to death.
The victim, also known as Baby, was reportedly assaulted by her father, Issah Mohammed, and her stepmother, Yaa Grace, after the latter accused her of taking food while Issah was away at work.
Sources indicate that Issah had previously divorced Baby’s biological mother following repeated incidents of abuse and is now living with his new partner, who has also been implicated in the case.
In a viral video that circulated on X on November 23, 2025, neighbours alleged that Issah beat the child severely, resulting in critical internal injuries. The couple has also been accused of confining Baby in a separate room without food or water, where she died the next day.
Suspicious neighbours alerted the police, leading to the arrest of both suspects.

‘Barbaric!’ – Social media reacts to video of toddler being given alcohol by adults
In another disturbing incident, a video that circulated online on November 23, 2025, showed a child, reportedly three years old, being given alcohol by adults.
The footage sparked outrage among social media users and child rights advocates, who described the act as reckless and inhumane.
The video showed the girl being handed a pineapple‑flavoured alcoholic beverage by two female adults while she danced.
She was later spotted drinking from the bottle by herself as the adults cheered her on.
The incident led to calls for the Ghana Police Service and the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection to take action. Viewers expressed shock that anyone would expose a child to such harmful substances, stressing the long‑term health and psychological risks.
Public outrage over video of grown men handing lit cigarette to baby
Another disturbing incident was captured in a video showing three young men allegedly handing a lit cigarette to a toddler.
In the footage, the child — a young girl — was seen crying and coughing while standing in front of them. One of the men handed the cigarette to her as the others watched.
A third person, who recorded the incident, was heard encouraging the act. Moments later, the individual who gave her the cigarette quickly snatches it back.
The group is then seen laughing mockingly as the toddler places the cigarette in her mouth, an act that has since sparked outrage and condemnation from the public.
Commentators noted that the behaviour of the young men could have put the child at serious risk and should be thoroughly investigated. Concerns were also raised about potential parental negligence, with calls for caregivers to be more vigilant about their children’s safety.
Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service has confirmed the arrest of the man seen in the viral video administering the cigarette to the child.
In a statement issued on Sunday, November 23, 2025, police identified the suspect as Samuel Obeng Asare Acheampong, who was arrested through an intelligence‑led operation.
