Asante Kotoko have reportedly parted ways with head coach, Prosper Ogum Narteh, following a management decision.
According to Ghana Sports Page, the Interim Management Committee (IMC) made the decision after the club’s 2-0 loss to Nations FC on Sunday, April 20, 2025.
Pending an official announcement from the club, the manager will exit the club two seasons after returning for a second spell with the Reds.
Kotoko, who were in pole position in the title race, have dropped to fourth on the table after managing only two wins in their last nine games.
They have drawn five and lost two in the process, with the two defeats coming consecutively.
They lost 3-0 to struggling Accra Lions before losing 2-0 to title contenders Nations FC.
The sudden collapse appears to have influenced the IMC’s decision, as their aim of winning the league title looks to be slipping through their hands.
Asante Kotoko are on 47 points and now trail league leaders, Bibiani Gold Stars, by six points with six games remaining.
Despite the recent lack of consistent victories, they are still in contention for a double as they are in the semi-finals of the MTN FA Cup.

Popular Nigerian media personality Frank Edoho has shared his opinion on a long-debated topic, whether whether women truly appreciate kind men.
Speaking during a recent episode of TVC’s talk show The Black Table, Edoho claimed that many women are more attracted to “bad boys” than to consistently kind men.
He made the statement while reflecting on an article he had read online. “There was an article I saw on a blog that intrigued me. The topic was, ‘What is that red flag that you admire in the opposite sex?’” he recounted.
According to him, the responses from women further strengthened his belief that being too nice might not be a winning strategy for men in relationships. “Although I am of the school of thought that men shouldn’t be nice all the time, the answers I got further my resolve that men should not even be nice at all,” he said.
Edoho highlighted some of the responses he found particularly surprising. “There was one I saw that says, ‘I like it when my man tells me, ‘I don’t want to repeat myself again.’ She said it turns her on,” he shared. “Others said that they like it when their man wax them, not extremely but shows power—it turns them on.”
He concluded by noting, “There are some strange things going on in the minds of these women that you are trying to be nice to. I am not saying all of them are like that but majority of women don’t like nice guys. They want bad guys that are nice to them sometimes.”
Citi FM and Channel One TV have reaffirmed their commitment to supporting vulnerable children with the donation of GHC50,000 and a range of essential supplies to the Baptist School Complex and Orphanage (BASCO) in Trotor, near Suhum in the Eastern Region.
The gesture forms part of the media house’s annual Easter Orphan Project, which aims to bring hope and support to orphans and underprivileged children across Ghana.
Staff from both stations visited the facility to present the donation and spend time interacting with the children and their caretakers.
Among the items donated were bags of rice, cooking oil, toiletries, clothing, drinks, learning materials, and other foodstuffs to support the day-to-day needs of the children.
The GHC50,000 is expected to contribute to the upkeep of the orphanage and the educational development of the students.
Speaking during the presentation on Monday, April 21, General Manager of Citi FM and Channel One TV, Bernard Avle, expressed gratitude to the stations’ listeners, viewers, and sponsors for their generous contributions to this year’s project.
He emphasized the importance of giving back to society and urged individuals and organizations to extend similar support to orphanages and other vulnerable groups.
The management of BASCO expressed deep appreciation for the donation, describing it as a timely intervention that would significantly improve the welfare of the children.
Over the years, the Easter Orphan Project has become a flagship CSR initiative for Citi FM and Channel One TV, positively impacting the lives of hundreds of children across the country.

The Ghana Police Service has announced the interception of more than 130 cartons of ammunition being trafficked out of the country through the Volta Region.
In a statement issued by its Public Affairs Unit for the Volta Region, the police said that the cartons of ammunition were intercepted at Tadzewu-Mitsrikasa in a public transport vehicle bound for Benin.
It stated that its officers found 60 cartons of AAA cartridges and 72 cartons of BB cartridges in the vehicle, which had passengers on board.
“On 18th April 2025 at 0330 hours, police personnel on duty at the Tadzewu-Mitsrikasa Police Barrier intercepted an Accra–Benin-bound Hyundai bus with registration number GR 8246-Q, with passengers on board. A routine search conducted in the vehicle uncovered 60 cartons of AAA cartridges (15,000 pieces of AAA) and 72 cartons of BB cartridges (18,000 pieces of BB), loaded in sacks and concealed under some luggage,” part of the statement read.
The police indicated that two suspects were arrested during the interception, but they have denied knowledge of the presence of the ammunition in the vehicle.
It said that initial investigations show that it was the co-driver of the vehicle who loaded the ammunition onto the truck.
“The driver of the vehicle, Abasou Fousseni, aged 45 years, and his co-driver, Salisu Jalilu, aged 38 years, were arrested for interrogation, but both denied knowledge of the illicit goods. However, police gathered information indicating that it was the co-driver who loaded the illicit goods into the vehicle,” it said.
The police added, “The driver of the vehicle was granted police enquiry bail to enable him to convey the passengers to their destination, while the co-driver was detained to assist with the investigation. He will be arraigned before the court on Tuesday, 22nd April 2025.”

Asante Kotoko’s Interim Management Committee (IMC) will hold a crucial emergency meeting on Monday afternoon to make a final decision regarding the future of the club’s technical team following a series of disappointing results in the 2024/25 Ghana Premier League campaign.
The club’s title hopes have all but faded after suffering two consecutive losses— a 3-0 defeat to Accra Lions in a thrilling encounter and a 2-0 loss to Nations FC in Abrankese last weekend. These setbacks have extended the team’s winless streak to four games, leaving their league prospects in jeopardy.

The IMC has identified Abdul Karim Zito, former coach of Ghana’s U17 and U20 teams, as the leading candidate to replace Ogum. The Administrator of the District Assemblies Common Fund (DACF), Michael Harry Yamson, has advised Ghanaians, particularly the youth, not to view betting as a source of income, insisting it is meant purely for leisure.
His caution follows public outcries following the scrapping of taxes on betting winnings — a move that Civil Society Organizations and religious groups warn could fuel gambling, particularly among young people.
Speaking in an interview with Citi News, Yamson defended the government’s position, stating that the removal of the tax is aimed at supporting the growth of the betting industry, not encouraging irresponsible behaviour.
“The Betting Tax was seen as frustrating an industry, and we have removed it to drive that industry and to drive the volume of economic activity in that sector.
“That said, the idea is not to increase irresponsible behavior. What we firmly believe is that betting is a leisure activity; betting is not meant to be a livelihood. And so we subscribe to the removal of the Betting Tax, at the same time, we are careful to make it clear that betting is a leisure activity — it is not meant to be something that becomes the livelihood of anybody,” he stated.
Yamson also called on betting companies to strictly enforce age restrictions, warning that access by minors remains a serious concern.
He added that the government will partner with stakeholders in the tech sector to introduce digital safeguards, including the use of the Ghana Card, to block underage users from betting online.
The debate around betting taxes continues to stir national attention, with critics arguing that the policy reversal could worsen addiction and social problems among the youth.

Black Satellites held their first training sessions in Cairo on Sunday, April 20, 2025, as preparations intensify for the upcoming U20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) in Egypt.
The team, led by head coach Desmond Ofei, trained twice at the Jewel Plaza Sports facility, located within walking distance of their hotel at the Jewel Plaza Complex.
The sessions were light but tactical, designed to ease the players into a demanding training programme following their arrival from Accra on Saturday.
All sixteen players who travelled with the initial group took part in the training. Six more players are expected to join them in the coming days to complete the squad for the tournament.
The Black Satellites are scheduled to step up their preparations with more intense sessions as the tournament draws closer.
The 13-nation competition begins on April 27 and ends on May 18, with Ghana placed in Group C alongside DR Congo, defending champions Senegal, and the Central African Republic.
Ghana will open their campaign on May 2 against DR Congo. The top four teams from the tournament will qualify for the 2025 FIFA U20 World Cup in Chile.

According to him, current happenings in the party has revealed a trend that suggests that different factions are fighting for the control of the party
“…I really want to wish the NPP well. But it is not our wishes that will transform their party,” Pratt said on Pan African TV on April 19, 2025, while contributing to the discussions on rebuilding the NPP after their 2024 Election defeat.
He indicated that his interactions with some notable members of the party have revealed that too many factions are fighting for supremacy.
He stated that there appears to be a group led by Sarah Adwoa Safo which has sworn that they would do everything possible to ensure that Dr Mahamudu Bawumia becomes the next leader of the NPP.
He added that there is also another group that aligns with former Minister of Energy, Boakye Agyarko.
He also mentioned another group which is currently pushing for a breakaway from the party because they believe the current leadership has swayed from the core values of the party.
Pratt further noted that there were even more factions in the party who have either one concern or another.
He subsequently, stated that considering the current state of the party, an experienced member who is a unifier is direly needed to bring all factions together to initiate a rebuilding process.
He cautioned that if the party does not urgently take steps to resolve their differences and mobilise, they risk losing their members to a new appendage of the party as suggested by Dr Amoako Baah in multiple media reports.
“The party itself has a responsibility to respect its core values. The party itself has the responsibility to put knowledgeable and responsible people in positions of leadership. The party has the responsibility to understand the Ghanaian condition.
“If you don’t do that; well, it is possible that a party can spring up to give the NDC the challenge it needs. It is also possible that the party will go into extinction. If you don’t do that so many possibilities await you in future,” he warned.
As part of the annual Easter Orphan Project, Citi FM and Channel One TV have donated GH¢25,000 and assorted items to the Chosen Rehabilitation Centre in Accra.
The project, which seeks to promote the spirit of giving, has over the years brought joy to the less privileged during the Easter festivities.
Speaking on behalf of management during the presentation, Head of Events and Partnerships at Citi FM and Channel One TV, Frema Adunyame, highlighted the vital role their audience played in making this year’s initiative possible.
“The essence of Easter—Christ coming to die for us and God giving us his son—that is what we believe. As Christians and Muslims, we have to follow this gesture. So our mission here is to further propagate the giving spirit of God. We do this every year during Easter Mondays, where we visit orphanages to give them the little that we have been able to put together through the donations of our listeners and our viewers.
“This year we decided to add Chosen Rehab and another rehab centre because we believe that the management here are doing so much that we need to support them,” she stated.
Founder of the Chosen Rehabilitation Centre, Apostle Daniel Cobby Washington, expressed gratitude for the donation, stressing its importance in furthering the centre’s mission.
In a similar gesture, the management of Citi FM and Channel One TV also donated GH¢25,000, along with cartons of milk, bags of rice, and used clothing to Iris Place, another rehabilitation centre in Accra.
During the presentation, Managing Director of Citi FM and Channel One TV, Samuel Atta Mensah, praised the efforts of the staff at Iris Place for their commitment to helping individuals rebuild their lives.
“It is Easter and families are gathering, people are travelling, but the thought of having some people being disabled in their movement because of their condition is coming back at us. For this reason, we raise money from our listeners and viewers who donate religiously both in financially and in substance. So, this year we have come to this place because of the great work you do in reforming people,” he stated.
Manager of Iris Place, Allan Mends, expressed heartfelt appreciation, noting how much the support means to their work.
“On behalf of the staff and management of Iris Place, I want to express our sincere gratitude for this overwhelming show of support and love. Recovery is expensive so we appreciate your presence for choosing to make this wonderful donation.
“It will go a long way to help us in our operations. Addiction is a disease and not a moral issue so we feel we are not alone with this wonderful donation you have brought to us,” he added.
The top floor of a two-storey hostel housing over 150 students of the Kwadaso SDA Nursing and Midwifery Training College has been destroyed following a fire outbreak at Kwadaso, within the Kwadaso Municipality of the Ashanti Region.
According to some of the students, the incident occurred around 5 p.m. on Sunday, April 20, 2025.
The swift intervention of officers from the Ghana National Fire Service salvaged the situation, thereby preventing the fire from spreading to the ground floor.
The fire destroyed all belongings of the students on the top floor, including mattresses, laptops, provisions, stationery, and other essential items.
No casualties were recorded, as management of the school indicated that some students had gone home for the Easter holidays.
So far, the cause of the fire is yet to be determined by officers from the Ghana National Fire Service, as investigations have begun.

Ghanaian musician, Keche Joshua, has expressed frustration following the death of colleague and social media influencer, Ama Endorsed.
The Ghanaian influencer and entrepreneur, Comfort Esime Adzigbli, popularly known as Ama Endorsed, passed on April 17, 2025, after battling a critical illness.
The 29-year-old passed on days after recently celebrating her birthday, during which she gifted herself a Range Rover.
Reacting to the death of the entrepreneur, Keche Joshua, in an interview with Zionfelix on April 21, 2025, noted that whoever is behind Ama Endorsed’s sudden demise would pay severally.
“All that I can say is that if there is someone behind her death, God would severally punish the person. That person would pay for such a crime.
To be honest, she was the one taking care of her family when their father died,” he said.
Keche Joshua also shared profound memories with the late entrepreneur.
He also debunked rumours circulating on social media where some netizens claimed Ama Endorsed died as a result of having an affair with numerous men.
“She fell sick after her birthday. Her sickness became on and off and I don’t know if someone poisoned her. She was hardworking but I want to make it emphatically clear that she was not sleeping around as speculated on social media.
“I sometimes seize her car because of how hardworking she was. I used to force her to rest. She fell sick three to four days after her birthday… We were all happy for her when she secured a project worth millions of cedis,” he added.

President Mahama with Bishop Dag hugging at the Good Friday Service at the Independence Square
On April 18, 2025, President John Dramani Mahama joined the Good Friday Service at the Independence Square in Accra, organised by the United Denominations Originating from the Lighthouse Group of Churches (UD-OLGC), formerly the Lighthouse Chapel International.
As thousands gathered for the solemn event, with the president participating in the service alongside Christians from Ghana and beyond, Bishop Dag Heward-Mills, the leader of the church, offered four prayers for the president.
He praised Mahama’s return to leadership, describing it as significant and purposeful.
The bishop further referred to the prayers as special gifts for the president.

The Gift of Moses – Leadership and Deliverance
Using Hosea 12:13 as a reference, the man of God explained that Moses led the Israelites out of captivity in Pharaoh’s domain.
He then prayed that the president would, likewise, lead Ghana out of years of underdevelopment into prosperity.
“Moses was the Head of State of Israel at the time, and God used him to bring the Israelites from Egypt and used him to preserve the nation, Israel. So, Your Excellency, we are praying that God will give you this gift so that you can take the nation out of difficulties, captivity, stress, and confusion we have found ourselves in after 68 years of independence,” he said.
The Gift of Solomon – Memorable and Outstanding
The second gift the prophet spoke of was the gift of Solomon, symbolising wisdom and understanding.
It also represents being memorable and outstanding.
To support his prayer, the preacher referenced 1 Kings 3:12, which highlights a heart filled with wisdom.
He said, “The gift of Solomon is the gift to be outstanding and memorable. It’s a gift to have a wise and understanding heart so that there’d be none like you before and after you. There is a grace to be memorable, and I believe God that President Mahama is going to receive the gift of Solomon to be a memorable president.”
The Gift of the Messiah – Judgment and Justice
The other gift prayer offered for the president was the gift of the Messiah.
According to Dag Heward-Mills, this gift represents judgment and justice.
He urged the president to make wise decisions and govern with fairness, referencing Isaiah 9:6 as a guiding scripture.
“So, His Excellency, we’re going to pray that that gift that was on the Messiah, which is judgment and justice, will come upon you. Judgment means good decisions, and justice means fairness for everyone. I pray that God will give you this gift of the Messiah,” Dag Heward-Mills stated.
The Gift of David – Living a longer life
The final gift prayer for President Mahama was for a long-life and the blessing of growing old.
Referencing 1 Chronicles 29:28, the man of God urged the congregation to pray that the president would enjoy good health, riches, and honour, just as David did.
“So, let’s pray that the Lord will bless our president to be an old man in Ghana that when his days are finished, he will be full of three things: full of years and age, riches to be a prosperous man, and full of honour. He’ll go out of Ghana as an honoured and honourable person,” the preacher man added.
Ghana U-20 head coach, Desmond Ofei, has expressed his ambition to guide the Black Satellites to victory at the upcoming 2025 U-20 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON).
The four-time champions have been drawn into a challenging Group C, where they will face defending champions Senegal, DR Congo, and the Central African Republic. The tournament is scheduled to take place in Egypt, kicking off on Sunday, April 27, and concluding with the final on May 18, 2025.
In an interview with CAF media, Ofei emphasised the importance of taking the tournament one step at a time, with the initial objective being progression beyond the group stage.
“Our immediate goal is to get out of the group stage. From there, we take it one step at a time. Of course, the long-term aim is to win the tournament and qualify for the U-20 World Cup, but we’ll do that by staying consistent and focused on the process.”
The top two teams from each group and the two best third-placed sides will advance to the quarter-finals.

He does this by calling the Pope’s baptismal name three times. The Camerlengo may tap the Pope’s forehead with silver three times as he mentions his name. If there is no response, the Pope is officially declared dead.
2. Breaking the Fisherman’s Ring
The second thing expected to take place is the breaking of the Pope’s ring, which is called the Fisherman’s Ring.
The Pope’s signet ring is made of gold, and it has a picture of the first Pope, St. Peter, fishing.
The ring serves as the official seal for documents of the Pope.
The ring of the dead Pope is taken to the College of Cardinals, where it is scratched or broken to ensure that it can never be used again.
The ring is destroyed to symbolise the end of the Pope’s papacy. It is also to prevent the forgery of documents.
3. Sealing of the Pope’s residence:
The third step is the sealing of the Pope’s residence in the Apostolic Palace, which is ordered by the Camerlengo.
The personal effects of the Pope are also kept in the locked residence.
The Pope’s office and study within the Vatican are also sealed. This is to prevent unauthorised access.
The documents of the deceased Pope are also secured.
Once a new Pope is elected, the seals to the apartment and offices are broken and prepared for the new pontiff.
4. Announcement and period of mourning
After the death of the Pope is confirmed by the Camerlengo, he relays the information to the Dean of the College of Cardinals, and the Vatican officially announces his death.
A nine-day mourning period, called Novemdiales, is declared.
5. Lying in state
The next step is the display of the Pope’s body in St Peter’s Basilica for public viewing.
The body may lie in state for at least three days.
6. The Pope’s burial Mass
The next thing expected to happen is the funeral, which is typically held in St Peter’s Square within four to six days of his death.
The mass, which is attended by thousands of church faithful, is presided over by the Dean of the College of Cardinals.
After the mass, the Pope will be buried.
The burial location depends on the Pope’s wishes – many are interred in the Vatican Grottoes.
7. Sede Vacante

Deputy Director of Operations at the Presidency, Mustapha Gbande, has praised President John Dramani Mahama for taking bold steps in the agricultural sector just 100 days into his administration.
Speaking on Hot Issues on TV3 on Sunday, April 20, 2025, Gbande said the government’s efforts were building a solid foundation to feed the country and transform agriculture into a key economic driver.
The Government, in collaboration with the private sector, is set to establish three state-of-the-art garment factories, each with the capacity to provide 3,000 jobs per shift, creating a total of 27,000 jobs under the 24-hour Economy Policy.
Mrs Elizabeth Ofosu-Adjare, the Minister of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, disclosed this at the Second Edition of the Kwahu Business Forum at Mpraeso in the Kwahu South District of the Eastern Region.
The Trade Minister said this formed part of President John Dramani Mahama’s rapid industrialisation for job initiative, and the Ministry was promoting strategic value addition to revive deformed industries and scale up production for both domestic and international markets.
“We are also set to launch the Pharmaceutical Manufacturing Development Policy, offering robust incentives to encourage local production of essential medicines,” she said, inviting pharmaceutical stakeholders to seize the opportunity and scale up operations for local and export markets.
The two-day Forum, which was opened by President John Dramani Mahama was on the theme: “The Future of Business: The Role of the Financial Sector”.
The Forum is a major initiative of the Government to foster entrepreneurship and support the growth of Ghana’s small and medium enterprises (SMEs).
Mrs Ofosu-Adjare said the Ministry was currently finalising a component manufacturing policy to support the automotive sector with a special call to the nation’s industry power dealers at Abossey-Okai, Kokompe and Suame Magazine, to consider investment in vehicle component manufacturing.
The Minister reiterated the Government’s firm commitment towards resetting the country’s development agenda with a focus on creating an enabling environment that was responsive to private sector needs and capable of driving investment in strategic sectors.
She said the theme for this year’s Business Forum stressed the importance of aligning the nation’s financial systems with national development priorities to support entrepreneurship, industrialisation and inclusive economic growth.
She said at the Ministry of Trade, Agribusiness and Industry, they were spearheading the transformation through the Business Regulatory Reform Programme, a cross-cutting initiative that coordinates reforms across 50 institutions, including Metropolitan, Municipal and District Assemblies (MMDAs), private sector associations and professional bodies.
Other key institutions were the Office of Registrar of Companies, the Ghana Revenue Authority, the Lands Commission, the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the Ghana National Fire Service, the Judicial Service and the Bank of Ghana, all of which were at the forefront of this effort.
“Our achievements so far include the establishment of a centralised electronic registry of business laws and an online public consultation portal on business regulations,” Mrs Ofosu-Adjare stated.
She said this year, a top priority was the passage of the Business Regulatory Reform Commission Bill, which would institutionalise these reforms, mediate public-private sector concerns and enforce regulatory impact assessments.
She said that the national development blueprint places great emphasis on building strong partnerships across three core levels: government-to-government, government-to-business, and business-to-business.
She said in “today’s rapidly evolving global trade landscape, Ghana is taking bold steps to position itself strategically for increased market access and competitiveness,” and their key initiatives focused on export development, trade facilitation and the provision of financial and technical support to businesses.
She said their flagship Accelerated Export Development Programme was designed to empower Ghanaian exporters to penetrate regional and international markets, including ECOWAS, the EU and UK, focusing on high-potential sectors such as garment, processed food and pharmaceuticals.
Together with the Ghana Export Promotion Authority and the National Africa Continental Free Trade Area( AfCFTA) Coordination Office, the Ministry was embarking on targeted export expeditions to deepen trade relationships and improve market access.
Mrs Ofosu-Adjare announced that, under a special initiative by the President, she would be leading a high-powered private sector delegation to China to pursue targeted Business-to-business (B2B) engagement that promises to unlock significant economic opportunities between their countries.
The Government was also working closely with the Ministry of Finance to implement sustainable solutions that would ease constraints on the business community, especially in customs operations, rules of origin certification and compliance with international trade protocols and AfCFTA, she said.
Again, the Government was implementing the Feed the Industry programme, which promoted contract commercial farming of grains, oils, seeds and meat, ensuring reliable supply chain for agro-industrial processing and thus they were working closely with the Ministry of Food and Agriculture, the Minister said.
Mrs Ofosu-Adjare explained that a key initiative under this programme was the development of the Afram Plains Agro-Industrial Zone with a focus on cassava, maize and soya bean value chain.
“We appeal to our revered traditional leaders to support this effort through land availability and encourage the business community to invest in agro-processing,” Mrs Ofosu-Adjare stated.
Additionally, they were supporting agro-processing classes in sectors such as food, beverages, cassava derivatives and cosmetics with a strong focus on women-led businesses by providing training, equipment and market access.
The Minister said in line with their inclusive development goals, they were rolling out targeted initiatives to empower women and youth through access to funding, skills training and access to markets.

Accra, April 21, GNA-The Network for Women’s Rights in Ghana (NETRIGHT) has condemned Mr. Richard Ofori Agyemang Boadi, Kumasi Metropolitan Chief Executive (KMA) for his decision to flog traders, who flout the ban on trading on the pavements of the city.
The Network said his decision was a gross violation on human rights, an infringement on the rights to human dignity, and a disregard for the rule of law.
A statement issued in Accra by Akosua K. Darkwah (PhD), NETRIGHT Convenor and copied to the Ghana News Agency said Ghana was a democratic country, governed by the 1992 Constitution and Chapter 5 of the Constitution clearly spelt out the human rights of every citizen of Ghana.
It said Section 15 (2a) stated categorically that no person whether arrested, restricted, detained or not shall be subject to torture, cruel, inhuman or degrading treatment or punishment.
The statement said his remarks were unbefitting of a public office holder and needed to be condemned in no uncertain terms.
It said as a women’s rights organisation, “we are mindful of the impact of such abuse on families and the society at large and the fact that in these situations, women, a third of who work as traders in Ghana, will bear the brunt of the abuse,” it said.
It said they were deeply concerned that such actions by the KMA would curtail the democratic rights of the traders and create conditions for civil unrest in the country.
“We condemn in unequivocal terms the remarks by the MCE and express our displeasure with his failure to retract and apologise but rather restating on an Accra-based FM station that he was standing by his decision to flog traders who defy the ban,” it added.
It said his statement showed that he was not fit to hold public office.
The statement, therefore called on President John Dramani Mahama, to remove Mr. Boadi as the MCE for the Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly.
It also called on all Ghanaians to call for his removal from office as his statement was unacceptable.
When the Pope dies (or resigns, as in the rare case of Pope Benedict XVI in 2013), the cardinals are summoned to a meeting at the Vatican, followed by the conclave, as the election is known.

The senior cardinal participating in the conclave will announce the decision with the words ‘Habemus Papam’ – Latin for ‘we have a Pope’.
He will then introduce the new Pope by his chosen papal name, which may or may not be his original given name.

“Instead of using the profit to develop the Damang mine, they were rather busy buying mines elsewhere, like Osisko in Canada. They also bought another mine in Chile,” he pointed out.
To him, it’s clear where the funds originated: “They can’t tell me it’s not profit from Ghana. It’s difficult to move money out of Australia. But from Ghana, they had free rein to move money around. And I’m saying, we can’t continue on that path.”

Plans are underway to organize a Ghana Cultural Fair in Detroit to celebrate Ghana’s heritage while promoting economic opportunities. In Columbus, Ohio, where Ghana remains the only country with a sister-city relationship, the delegation was welcomed by the Mayor of Columbus.
The meetings focused on trade, with stakeholders emphasizing a shared commitment to expanding business and exchanges between Ghana and Columbus-based institutions and investors.

Editor of the Newscenta Newspaper, Elvis Darko, has criticised what he describes as a repeated cycle of business conferences in Ghana, calling instead for immediate and practical action.
His comments come in the wake of the recently concluded Kwahu Business Forum.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily on Monday, April 21, Darko expressed concern that valuable resources are being spent on forums that deliver little tangible benefit to entrepreneurs and the broader business environment.
He stressed that Ghana has long identified its economic challenges, and what is needed now is decisive implementation—not more dialogue.
“We just waste money on talkshops. Look, we are not being realistic. If they want to tell you the budget for this particular meeting, it could set up a young person’s business. Who said that for the past 20 years, we have not known the problems of our business?
“Who said we do not know? We are not bold enough to take the steps which will make sure that this country moves forward. We only go and sit at conferences and talk and talkshops. That is why we are where we are.”
Darko further questioned the effectiveness of years of recurring conferences, pointing to longstanding reports that already highlight the issues.
“We have been having conferences upon conferences. Just look at the past two decades. Who doesn’t know? Every year, AGI [Association of Ghana Industries] prepares what they call the ‘AGI’s Top Ten Problems.’
“They hold a press conference and they tell the government, for businesses to grow in Ghana, these are the top ten issues that AGI feels as critical to business. The problems that must be solved, every year AGI makes it known, so why do you need a forum?” he questioned.
The Most Reverend John Bonaventure Kwofie, Catholic Metropolitan Archbishop of Accra, has called on President John Dramani Mahama to honour his commitment to eradicate illegal mining, commonly known as galamsey, within his first 120 days in office.
Delivering a homily on Easter Sunday, April 21, at the Holy Spirit Cathedral in Accra, Archbishop Kwofie reminded the President of his pledge to end galamsey activities, including those in forest reserves.
He emphasized the urgency of the situation, noting that over 100 days have passed since the President’s inauguration, leaving less than 20 days to fulfill the promise.
“The Catholic Church is concerned about galamsey activities because they are ‘killing’ the public. The Ghanaian public placed a big trust in you. This trust is ephemeral; we can easily forget. Mr. President, know this: eyes are watching you.
He emphasised, “…We take this promise seriously because galamsey is killing us. 120 days, yes, you crossed the 100 line a few days ago, and you are left with less than 20 days. We want to remind you; we voted you into office because of your stance on galamsey and many other evils plaguing our country. In fact, you displayed the high ethical standard we need in our politics in Ghana. We think you can do it.”
He further highlighted the detrimental impact of illegal mining on the environment and communities, urging decisive action to protect the nation’s natural resources.
The Archbishop also revealed that illegal miners from various West African countries, including Niger, Mali, Burkina Faso, Ivory Coast, Nigeria, Togo, and Guinea, were reportedly operating in areas such as Abrewa Nne Nkran.
“Let’s have men like Nana Bosompem, men with integrity and courage, who would not ask where we went right or wrong in the legal system, and our forestry will return to normal,” he suggested.
Archbishop Kwofie emphasized the transformative power of Jesus Christ’s resurrection.
“Never before has someone reported news such as this. It has never happened in our common history, and indeed no one understood it. But Christ has risen to put to shame those who said there was no resurrection.”
“This is dying to the ‘old man’ of injustice, wickedness, infidelity, and disrespect, and rising to the ‘new man’ of justice, respect for one another, and faithfulness in everything we do.”

Emmanuel Cherry, CEO of Ghana Chamber of Construction Industry
The Ghana Chamber of Construction Industry has disclosed that an amount of GH¢105 billion financial commitment was left by the New Patriotic Party (NPP) administration in the road sector.
The chamber’s Chief Executive Officer, Emmanuel Cherry, said the figure represents the total value of road and infrastructure contracts given out by the former government but which they could not execute or complete before leaving office.
According to citinewsroom.com, on Sunday, April 20, Cherry stated that during the ministerial vetting of the current Minister of Roads and Highways, Kwame Governs Agbodza, an initial figure of GH¢100 billion in commitments was disclosed, with available funds estimated between GH¢20 billion and GH¢25 billion.
However, with the release of the 2025 Budget, the actual liabilities have now become clearer, he said.
“As we speak now, the commitment is GH¢105 billion, these are contracts awarded for road construction, bridges, overheads and related infrastructure, but many of them have either not started or are yet to be completed,” he stated.
Cherry further noted that out of the total GH¢105 billion in commitments, projects amounting to GH¢21 billion have already been executed by contractors.
He further stressed that the government must urgently release this amount to enable contractors to remain liquid and return to site.
“This means government now needs to cough up GH¢21 billion for contractors so they can continue their work,” he emphasised, the report added.

“You see one business growing, it gets to a point, it goes down. It is like two steps forward, and three steps back, in the sense that we have tried to politicise every business. Yes, the politics might be blamed for that, but I think that the drivers of these businesses also make the ground fertile for political leaders that when there is a change, they try to clip your arms, which should not be the case.
“Because while they are controlling the business, the business is crowing, they also arrogate to themselves that ‘we have the power to call the shots, who becomes a leader and who wins.’ When this happens and the person you were against comes in, you will also try to say yes because you are liquide, You are able to finance my opponent against me, so your business tends to suffer,” he said.

In a step towards restoring peace in the Kusaug Traditional Area, the youth of Kusasi and the Ghana Police Service have reconciled following recent violent encounters.
The Zug-ran of Kusaug, Bawku Naba Asigri Abugrago Azoka II, intervened and directed both sides to pursue dialogue and reconciliation, leading to a successful peace process facilitated by the Kusaug Advisory Council.
According to a statement issued by the Zug-ran Palace on 19 April, the peace talks culminated in an understanding between Kusasi youth leaders and the police authority in the area.
In line with this resolution, the youth have launched a sensitisation exercise across the six districts and the municipality within Kusaug.
The campaign aims to foster peaceful coexistence and collaboration with law enforcement in maintaining law and order.
The Zug-ran commended the maturity and patriotism demonstrated by both parties.
“I wish to extend my heartfelt appreciation to the youth for their understanding and their willingness to embrace peace,” he stated.
He further acknowledged the professionalism of the police personnel involved, noting their cooperation as key to the success of the reconciliation efforts.
This development marks a renewed commitment to peace and unity within the traditional area.

The Minority Leader in Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has revealed how former President John Mahama once intervened on his behalf when his business was facing challenges.
According to the Member of Parliament, who is also an astute businessman running a haulage company, his business was deliberately frustrated due to political affiliations.
Speaking at the Kwahu Business Forum on Saturday, April 19, 2025, Afenyo-Markin shared some of the challenges faced by private businesses. He disclosed that when he could no longer tolerate the unfair treatment being meted out to his company, he sought the help of John Mahama, who was then Vice President in 2009.
“I recall when there was a change in government in 2008 and the new administration came into office, I was operating a route from Aflao to Buipe. We would pick up gypsum from Tabligbo in Togo, deliver some to Diamond Cement in Aflao, and then continue to Buipe. At each axle load station, my trucks were deliberately stopped while others were allowed to pass. The reason? They said, ‘That boy is an NPP boy.’
My partner had to rush to Vice President John Mahama, as he then was, and he intervened by calling the officers to order. I told my partner to explain that if the Diamond Cement factory in Buipe didn’t receive limestone, they wouldn’t be able to produce cement — and that would affect his [Mahama’s] own region,” the Minority Leader recounted.
He further disclosed why he shared this experience.
“Indeed, I needed to give you this background so that those of you in private business will relate so that we know where we are starting from and what is expected of us as a political class.
