Ghanaian business mogul Richard Nii Armah Quaye has inaugurated three new food bank, strengthening food security initiatives in the Central and Northern Regions.

The Cape Coast branch was opened on Monday, November 17, 2025, followed by two additional launches in Tamale on Wednesday.

The expansion, carried out through the RNAQ Foundation, forms part of the organisation’s broader mission to improve access to food for vulnerable populations across key regional capitals.

The inauguration activities began in the Central Region, where traditional leadership played a central role. Quaye, who also serves as President of RNAQ Holdings, led a delegation to pay a courtesy call on the Omanhen of the Oguaa Traditional Council, Osabarima Kwesi Atta II, at his palace in Cape Coast.

The engagement sought the traditional authority’s support for the new food bank initiative.

After the palace visit, the delegation, accompanied by sub-chiefs of the Oguaa Traditional Council, officially opened the food bank at Kotokoraba.

Residents expressed appreciation for the initiative, describing it as timely given the growing need for food support in the community.

A similar process unfolded in the Northern Region. In Tamale, Quaye and his team visited the Dakpema Palace, where they were received by the second-in-command, Nyaba Dakpema Wulana, and the palace secretary, Alhassan Basharu Daballi.

The RNAQ Foundation presented traditional colanuts and made a cash donation to the sub-chiefs on behalf of the Chief of Tamale, Nyaba Dakpema Fuseini Bawah.

In his remarks, Daballi conveyed the chief’s gratitude to Quaye and assured the delegation of the palace’s support for RNAQ Holdings’ operations in the region.

The launch also drew public attention with the presence of Northern music artiste Fancy Gadam.

The week’s activities concluded with the establishment of three new food bank locations: one at Kotokoraba in Cape Coast and two in Tamale at Kukuo and the Agric Traffic Light area.

Damongo water project to be completed in two years

The Managing Director of Ghana Water Limited (GWL), Adam Mutawakilu, has announced that water supply from the Damongo expansion project is expected to be ready within two years, while the Tamale and Yendi phases will require additional time to complete.

Speaking to the media at the treatment plant site, Mutawakilu emphasised that Tamale is a major undertaking that requires more time and intensive work, adding that the project has been included in the 2026 budget.

He also noted that discussions are currently underway to finalise on a favourable contractor to ensure the successful execution of the entire project.

“Getting portable water for the people of Damango, Tamale, is important to President John Dramani Mahama, and you can see it was captured in the 2026 budget. Currently, we are discussing the technical and financial terms to be able to get a good contractor who can execute the project”

“We want to assure you that, as His Excellency indicated that by the end of his term, the Northern region and the savanna region would have water,” he said.

When completed, the Yapei project is expected to add 135,000 cubic meters of water daily to the Dalun production system serving the Greater Tamale area, while the Damongo system will deliver an estimated 10,000 cubic meters of water per day to alleviate shortages there.

University Opens Probe Into Lecturers After Television Altercation

The University of Ghana (UG) says it has begun internal processes to review the conduct of Professor Ransford Gyampo and Dr. George Domfeh following a heated on air altercation between the two Senior Members during a current affairs programme on TV3.

In a statement issued on November 21, 2025, management said it had noted a widely circulated video which captured Professor Ransford Gyampo and Dr. George Domfeh in a confrontation during a media engagement on The Key Points. According to the university, the footage showed a panel discussion that degenerated into a personal and heated exchange between the two.

The institution said the development triggered formal steps in line with its governing regulations. Management has, in accordance with the University of Ghana Statutes (2024) and the Code of Conduct for Academic Senior Members (2011), triggered internal processes to review the conduct of the two Senior Members and take necessary disciplinary actions, the statement noted.

The university emphasized its expectations regarding staff behaviour, stating that it demands high standards of professionalism, integrity and decorum from all faculty and staff, and expects all members of the University community to uphold these values in both public and private engagements. Management remains committed to safeguarding the dignity of the University and preserving public confidence in the institution.

The altercation occurred on Saturday, November 15, 2025, during a live appearance on TV3’s The Key Points, a current affairs programme. Professor Gyampo, who is a lecturer at the Political Science Department and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Ghana Shippers Authority, and Dr. Domfeh, a senior lecturer at UG, were seen exchanging insults after their discussion turned personal.

Dr. Domfeh alleged that Prof. Gyampo is politically biased, accusing him of being self centred during his tenure as University of Ghana branch of the University Teachers Association of Ghana (UG-UTAG) president. Prof. Gyampo, who appeared visibly upset, fired back and accused Dr. Domfeh of being unfit as an academic.

A second video circulating on social media showed an even more chaotic scene off camera during a commercial break. In that footage, Dr. Domfeh made additional unverified allegations against Prof. Gyampo, including claims about inappropriate conduct with students. The videos triggered widespread reactions online, with many expressing disappointment at the conduct of the two lecturers.

Dr. Domfeh subsequently accused TV3 of deliberately omitting a crucial moment from its broadcast, claiming that the part where Prof. Gyampo allegedly got up from his seat and attempted to advance toward him was not included in the footage. He questioned TV3’s editorial motives, suggesting possible collusion or biased decision making.

After the incident, Gyampo, through his lawyers, demanded an apology and retraction. TV3 top management, including the Group CEO and Chief Operating Officer (COO), met with both parties’ legal teams and facilitated a negotiation.

Dr. Domfeh first announced the reconciliation in a post shared on Facebook on Wednesday, November 20, 2025, indicating that they decided to bury the hatchet after they both admitted fault in a longer conversation. He stated that Professor Gyampo acknowledged that he regrets his commentary, which was distasteful and defamatory, especially considering their longstanding collegial relationship. Dr. Domfeh admitted that he went too hard with his comments and noted they have sincerely apologised to each other.

However, the reconciliation announcement sparked controversy when Prof. Gyampo’s response appeared to downplay the apology. He stated that Dr. Domfeh’s apology was accepted but refuted the allegation of defamation, saying he didn’t defame or attack anybody.

Despite the personal reconciliation between the two academics, the University of Ghana proceeded with its internal review process, issuing its statement the day after the public reconciliation was announced. The university’s decision to continue with disciplinary proceedings underscores its commitment to maintaining professional standards regardless of private settlements between individuals.

The incident has sparked broader conversations within Ghana’s academic and media circles about professional conduct, editorial ethics and the responsibilities of public intellectuals when engaging in policy debates. Many observers have called for greater civility in public discourse, particularly among academics who serve as role models for students and the wider society.

Where Is Ken Ofori-Atta? – Afenyo-Markin questioned in Parliament

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin came under intense scrutiny in Parliament on Friday November 21, 2025 as MPs demanded explanations for the continued absence of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, who is expected to return to Ghana to face investigations into alleged corruption-linked contracts, including the controversial GRA–SML deal and the National Cathedral project.

The issue resurfaced when the Minister for Local Government, Ahmed Ibrahim, reminded the House of an earlier assurance by Afenyo-Markin that Ofori-Atta would return to the country by February 18, 2025.

He directly queried the Minority Leader for an update on the former minister’s whereabouts.

“He gave us authoritative information that by February 18th, the honourable former Finance Minister was going to be in Ghana. So I’m asking, where is the former Finance Minister?” Ahmed Ibrahim demanded.

“Ministers of Finance who have occupied that office, after their tenure, remain in this country. Where is he?”

In response, Afenyo-Markin rejected claims of misleading Parliament. He explained that Ofori-Atta had officially communicated to the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), through his lawyers, outlining his health challenges and travel plans.

“The records will bear me out…Ken Ofori-Atta had written to the OSP that he would be in Ghana on or before May. He also indicated that he had been booked for surgery.”

OSP formally charges Ken Ofori-Atta, seven others with 78 counts

He further explained that doctors later advised an extended recovery period after the scheduled procedure, leading to additional communication from the former minister seeking more time.

Afenyo-Markin urged MPs to show empathy, stressing the sensitivity of medical issues.

“When it comes to ill health, all of us may go through it one way or the other. If a man is going through a serious medical condition, how many of us would be bold enough to disclose our medical records? But the man has disclosed his medical record,” he said.

He warned against politicising Ofori-Atta’s condition, adding, “Let’s be fair to Ken Ofori-Atta. It can be you tomorrow.”

However, Majority Leader Mahama Ayariga rejected suggestions that MPs were being insensitive. He argued that concerns about Ofori-Atta’s health only became pressing after he was needed to answer accountability-related questions.

“You are giving the impression that members on this side are insensitive to the medical condition of Ken Ofori-Atta…Ken Ofori-Atta was very sick in this country. You could see the sickness in his face. But at that time, it was sweet to be a Finance Minister.”

He continued, “How come that suddenly, because today he is being sought after by the law enforcement agencies, he cannot live in this country and is claiming illness? He was sick when he was the Finance Minister. We all saw it.”

The former Finance Minister was invited by the OSP earlier this year to provide evidence or respond to allegations surrounding the GRA–SML revenue assurance contract and other public expenditure issues. His prolonged stay abroad has since become a major point of contention.

Government Launches Major Electrification Drive Across Four Regions

Ghana is set to begin a major nationwide electrification drive in 2026, aiming to connect every unserved and underserved community across the country, starting with the Volta, Oti, Savannah and Central regions, Finance Minister Cassiel Ato Forson announced in Parliament during the 2026 budget presentation.

The initiative, known as the Rural Electricity Acceleration and Urban Intensification Initiative, is part of the government’s broader strategy to achieve universal electricity access, improve social services, unlock rural and urban economic potential and advance Ghana’s 24 Hour Economy programme. The government has allocated GH¢2 billion for Phase One of the rural electrification projects to expand access and support industrial growth.

The project will employ a Turnkey Implementation Model designed to ensure faster, more efficient and coordinated delivery of electricity infrastructure. Forson told Parliament the initiative will extend service lines, transformers and distribution poles to unserved and underserved homes and enterprises, ensuring that the benefits of electrification reach every Ghanaian family.

The Finance Minister emphasized that no community will be considered electrified until every household, school and business has access to power. He described the initiative as reaffirming government’s commitment to a future where electricity is not just available but affordable, transformative and truly universal.

Despite significant progress over the past decade, many Ghanaians in rural communities and rapidly expanding urban settlements remain without electricity. In some areas, households, schools and businesses are connected only partially or not at all, limiting educational opportunities, health services and economic activity.

The government’s initiative aims to bridge these gaps by deploying service lines, transformers and distribution poles to ensure electricity reaches every home and enterprise. The program is expected to create jobs for local electricians, contractors and suppliers, supporting both community livelihoods and national economic growth.

The 2026 phase will mark the beginning of a four year nationwide rollout covering 2026 through 2029, sequenced to cover all 16 regions in a results oriented approach that guarantees regional balance and prevents project fragmentation. While Volta, Oti, Savannah and Central regions will lead the first phase, subsequent years will expand coverage across the rest of the country.

In addition to extending the national grid, the initiative includes an Electricity Intensification Programme targeting communities that already have partial access. This effort will expand connections to households, schools and businesses in fast growing settlements and outer zones, ensuring electricity access grows alongside population and urban expansion.

Recognizing the challenges of remote and hard to reach areas, the government will continue off grid solar deployment for isolated communities, including island towns, ensuring that no Ghanaian is left behind in the drive for universal energy access. Forson told Parliament the initiative would be augmented by the extension of off grid solar to hard to reach and remote communities.

The Finance Minister said energy was the engine of Ghana’s transformation, and the government’s goal was to turn power from a constraint into a competitive advantage for every home, factory and enterprise. Officials say the initiative will unlock rural economic potential, improve access to education and health services and support the creation of local businesses.

By intensifying connections, the government aims to stimulate local economies, foster job creation and strengthen community resilience. Forson emphasized that the program is not only about delivering electricity but also about transforming lives and communities, boosting productivity and enabling sustainable growth across the country.

The electrification drive forms part of a broader energy sector transformation announced in the 2026 budget. Government will begin constructing a 1,200 megawatt (MW) state owned thermal power plant in 2026 to provide reliable, affordable electricity, strengthen energy security and support the country’s gas to power transformation.

Forson explained that Ghana’s gas to power strategy is moving the country from costly light crude oil to cleaner, locally produced natural gas. In the past 10 months, gas production has increased by over 50 million standard cubic feet per day, thanks to expansions by the Offshore Cape Three Points (OCTP) partners and the Jubilee and Tripartite Exploration Network (TEN) fields.

New agreements are expected to add another 150 million standard cubic feet daily, ensuring enough fuel for the new thermal plant. In total, OCTP and Jubilee partners are projected to produce 1,150 million standard cubic feet of gas per day, enough to generate up to 1,200 megawatts of electricity, surpassing the capacity of the Akosombo Dam.

The Finance Minister also announced that all power purchase agreements had been renegotiated at no cost to the state, saving $250 million and restructuring GH¢1.1 billion in obligations over four years. He told Parliament that for the first time, government is not accruing new arrears in the energy sector.

With this ambitious plan, Ghana aims to set a new benchmark for inclusive, people centered electrification in Africa, combining grid expansion, intensified connections and renewable solutions to ensure electricity access reaches every corner of the nation.

Savelugu MP decries underfunding of social protection in 2026 budget

0

Member of Parliament for Savelugu, Hajia Fatahiya Abdul Aziz Member of Parliament for Savelugu, Hajia Fatahiya Abdul Aziz

The Member of Parliament for Savelugu, Hajia Fatahiya Abdul Aziz, has raised strong concerns over what she describes as the persistent and troubling underfunding of Ghana’s social protection programmes, warning that the 2026 Budget and Economic Policy fails to safeguard the country’s most vulnerable citizens.

Debating the principles of the 2026 Budget on Thursday, November 20, 2025, the Savelugu legislator criticised the government for what she called a “profound disconnect between policy commitments and actual funding,” arguing that critical welfare interventions continue to be deprioritised at a time when economic hardships are deepening.

According to the MP, allocations to social protection programmes—including LEAP, the Ghana School Feeding Programme, and related transfers—amount to GH¢3.46 billion, representing only 0.22 percent of GDP, far below international benchmarks for developing countries.

“This is not simply a budgetary shortfall; it is a reflection of misplaced priorities,” she said.

“At a time when poverty and vulnerability are worsening across communities, especially among women, children, and persons with disabilities, this budget fails to deliver meaningful protection.”

She noted that the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection responsible for most of the country’s welfare interventions—remains severely under-resourced, receiving only 1.1 percent of total government expenditure for 2026.

Capital expenditure for the Ministry stands at GH¢11.6 million, just 0.36 percent of its allocation, a situation she warned would hinder the expansion and upgrading of welfare offices, digital systems, shelters, and rescue centres.

Abdul Aziz also expressed alarm over drastic cuts to two key protection mechanisms: the Domestic Violence Fund and the Child Trafficking Fund. Each receives only GH¢1 million in the 2026 Budget, down from GH¢2.7 million and GH¢2.1 million respectively in 2024.

“These cuts are not only unjustified but dangerous,” she stressed.

“Such minimal allocations cannot support shelters, psychosocial services, rescue operations, or rehabilitation for survivors of violence and trafficking. At a time when these cases are rising, our budget must respond—not retreat.”

She further criticised the absence of specific budget lines for programmes such as the Sanitary Pad Initiative and Women in Trade, arguing that without clear allocations, Parliament cannot track funds or demand accountability from implementing agencies.

“A promise without a price tag is merely a public relations exercise,” she said.

The MP also highlighted what she termed “new neglects” in the 2026 Budget, citing the lack of gender-responsive targeting in major flagship initiatives such as the 24-Hour Economy and infrastructure programmes.

She argued that failing to intentionally include women risks widening the existing economic gap.

For rural women farmers, especially in areas like Savelugu, she noted that the budget provides little support in the areas of climate-resilient inputs, financial inclusion, and livelihoods programmes.

Abdul Aziz concluded with a call for the government to reprioritise its spending.

“A budget is the clearest expression of a government’s priorities,” she said.

“Ghanaians, particularly the vulnerable, cannot thrive on promises. They require actual, targeted investments and accountable implementation to build resilience and improve well-being.”

Parliament continues to debate the 2026 Budget and Economic Policy, with social protection emerging as one of the most critical concerns raised by lawmakers.

15 Women Who Had A BBL And Faced Tragic Consequences In Their Quest For Perfect Curves

0

According to the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, the Brazilian B*tt Lift, better known as a BBL, has become one of the defining cosmetic procedures of the last decade.

Its rise has been fueled by social media trends and the influence of celebrities like Cardi B, Kim Kardashian, and Nicki Minaj, turning the exaggerated hourglass silhouette into a global beauty standard.

The appeal is simple. Surgeons take fat from the abdomen, thighs, or hips, and inject it directly into the buttocks. For many women, it promises the body contours they have always wanted, achieved with their own fat instead of implants.

But behind the glamour lies a brutal reality. The BBL has the highest mortality rate of all cosmetic surgeries. The leading complication occurs when fat accidentally enters the bloodstream and travels to the heart or lungs, creating a blockage that can become fatal in minutes.

Add to this unlicensed practitioners, unsanitary conditions, dubious overseas clinics, and the use of dangerous fillers, and you have a recipe for disaster.

Here are some of the most tragic BBL-related cases in recent years.

Kayla Jade, an adult content creator with millions of followers, shared a disturbing account of her botched BBL in Turkey, adding another layer of danger to the already problematic procedure: suspiciously “cheap” overseas clinics.

She chose the establishment because of its glowing reviews, something she later called the first red flag. The moment she arrived, everything went from bad to worse.

First, doctors told her she didn’t have enough fat for the procedure and wouldn’t get the results she wanted. They went with the operation regardless, and then placed her on her back after surgery, a dangerous post-op position for a BBL.

What followed was even worse: Kayla says she was touched and kissed without consent by a male nurse while sedated, touched again in the elevator, left vomiting blood, drifting in and out of consciousness, and unable to process the trauma until months later.

She eventually underwent corrective surgery in Australia, saying she’s lucky to have survived what others haven’t.

Natasha Crown, a Serbian model, built a massive online following by pursuing what she calls “the world’s biggest behind,” spending more than £111,000 on cosmetic procedures, including five BBLs.

Natasha’s story became a cautionary tale.

More than her present body, it was her “before” photos that went viral, with thousands saying she looked far more beautiful before surgeries reshaped her face and body.

In an interview, Crown admitted her obsession started at 17 after seeing a woman with a large backside, and by 20, she was already undergoing procedures that would permanently alter her life.

Each BBL pushed her further into extreme proportions, packing on nearly 100 lbs. of surgical volume to her lower body alone.

The consequences have been severe.

Natasha says her size prevents her from sitting on planes without buying two seats and makes simple outings difficult because she constantly bumps into people. She also confessed that her appearance scares people.

The rapper has admitted on several occasions that she regrets the silicone injections she got in 2014 to enhance her buttocks.

According to her, she paid $800 for a dubious procedure in a Queens basement, and the material has remained in her body ever since. She said this ended up creating chronic health problems that she has been trying to fix for years.

Up until recently, Cardi B has undergone several surgeries to remove the silicone from her body, explaining to fans that it often takes multiple rounds before doctors can extract it safely.

Her confession conflicted with earlier claims from December 2022, when she told followers she had already removed most of the synthetic material.

Regardless of the exact amount that remains, she now warns younger women to avoid silicone at all costs, emphasizing that the compound can migrate and trigger permanent damage.

“Injectable silicone used for body contouring is not FDA-approved and can cause serious side effects that may be permanent or may even lead to de*th,” the US Food and Drug Administration said in a statement in 2017.

“The most painful operation I’ve had,” that’s how Katie Price, a 46-year-old English model, described her latest BBL after revealing its results in Ibiza.

As is the case with many of the women in this list, Price traveled to Turkey hoping for a cheaper alternative to local clinics. She then traveled to Spain and took various poolside photos flaunting her new body.

Fans were put off by the results, saying the procedure left her backside looking unnatural and misshapen.

The area where the transferred fat had been inserted was still healing, and a medical patch was visibly covering part of her buttocks. This led to a wave of comments asking whether the surgery site was “leaking.”

Price later admitted the fat transfer did not sit right on her body and left her in severe pain. Even so, she said she would continue seeking cosmetic procedures abroad, insisting on never undergoing surgery in England again.

The TV presenter became one of the most high-profile women to publicly reverse her BBL after years of procedures left her, in her words, depressed and unrecognizable to herself.

The Geordie Shore star admitted she had spent more than £50,000 trying to “fix” the damage caused by online trolling about her looks, only to spiral into deeper insecurity and regret.

When she finally had her BBL removed, Ferry said she felt like herself again, posting videos celebrating being able to try on jeans without the exaggerated proportions that had left her feeling like a botched experiment.

In her case, the consequences of her BBL were psychological more than physical. The procedure became a constant reminder of the pressures she faced while in the spotlight.

During a podcast interview, she confessed that the regret became so overwhelming that she questioned whether she wanted to stay alive.

María Peñaloza, a 31-year-old woman from Queens, lost her life after trusting a man on TikTok who pretended to be a licensed plastic surgeon.

Having regretted getting a BBL, she visited the alleged doctor’s New York home to have her implants removed, ignoring that such a delicate procedure should only be performed in a medical setting by trained professionals.

Instead, Felipe Hoyos-Foronda injected her with lidocaine inside his house, without credentials, equipment, or supervision. Minutes later, María went into cardiac arrest.

By the time hospital doctors checked on her, it was too late. Her brain activity had ceased, and her body had signs of lidocaine toxicity. There was nothing they could do to save her.

Hoyos-Foronda was arrested at the airport while trying to flee to Colombia and faced charges for practicing without a license.

In 2021, Erica Russell, a 33-year-old mother of five from Tennessee, traveled to Miami hoping a BBL would give her the body of her dreams. She chose Seduction Cosmetic Center, where an overworked surgeon ended up perforating her organs.

State records show Dr. John Sampson had already performed six operations that day before reaching Erica. By then, he had been inside the operating room for more than fourteen hours.

According to her autopsy, her internal organs were perforated during liposuction, and fat was injected too deeply into her buttocks.

The outcome was catastrophic.

Erica suffered massive internal bleeding and a fat embolism, conditions that left her no chance of survival.

In 2024, the family sued the clinic and the surgeon, arguing that no doctor should have been allowed to perform so many procedures in one day. Their only goal, they said, was to prevent another family from losing someone the way they lost Erica.

Miller was 28 when she lost her life after subjecting herself to the procedure. Both she and her sister, Kiera, traveled to Miami in March 2025 to undergo cosmetic surgeries.

Everything seemed to be in order for Ahmonique after her BBL, and she was discharged to an unlicensed recovery home to be monitored for complications.

The next day, however, Kiera woke up to find Ahmonique’s body cold. She had passed away while they were asleep.

Kiera later claimed that the recovery home had given her sister medication she had not been prescribed. The family believes the unapproved drug caused a reaction that led to her passing.

In June, authorities confirmed Kiera’s fears. They said that a combination of the painkiller Oxycodone and an unregulated substance, Bromazolam, was responsible for the fatal outcome.

Demi Agoglia, a 26-year-old mother, passed away after subjecting herself to a BBL in Istanbul, Turkey.

Agoglia traveled from Salford, UK, to the Middle Eastern country with her partner, Bradley Jones, on January 4, ignoring her mother’s pleas not to go.

The day following the surgery, Agoglia wrote to her mother stating that she finally had “the body she always wanted,” but the day after that, she received a second message, this time from Jones, which read: “She’s gone.”

A post-mortem determined that the passing was the result of a microscopic fat embolism, the exact complication that makes BBL so dangerous.

John Pollard, the coroner in charge of the case, labeled the procedure as a “barbaric medical practice,” made worse by severe failings in both pre- and post-operative care.

“I do feel something further needs to be done to stop this practice being conducted to such low standards that would certainly not be tolerated in the UK,” Pollard stated.

“The care in total fell well below the standard expected of this type of treatment, and the lack of care contributed significantly to Demi’s passing.”

In a case that shook Mexico to its core, 14-year-old Paloma Arellano lost her life after being “gifted” a set of cosmetic surgeries arranged by her mother and her mother’s boyfriend, a plastic surgeon.

According to the investigation, the teen was put through breast implants, liposuction, and a BBL ahead of her quinceañera. Her father, Carlos Arellano, says he wasn’t told anything.

At the funeral, relatives noticed that Paloma’s body seemed weirdly “developed” overnight, and when he examined his daughter himself, he found scars and evidence of surgeries. He then confronted her mother, who said she had passed away from COVID complications instead.

Angry and desperate, Carlos demanded an autopsy and filed a complaint accusing multiple adults of hiding what had been done to his daughter.

The case was brought to the attention of President Claudia Sheinbaum, who publicly committed to reviewing the case.

On October 6, both the mother and the surgeon were charged. The doctor’s license was suspended.

Hayley Dowell, a 38-year-old mother from Hampshire, traveled to Istanbul hoping to come home with a flatter stomach and fuller hips. Instead, she never made it back.

Despite her husband’s objections, she booked an appointment at an establishment called BHT Clinic and underwent a tummy tuck, liposuction, and a BBL.

Hours after the surgeries began, Hayley suffered a fatal embolism and passed away that same night.

During the preliminary hearing, her husband testified that the clinic never properly explained the risks and that his wife believed she would undergo only two of the procedures, not all three at the same time.

In the aftermath, he learned she had paid more than £7,000 for the procedures.

What stunned Hayley’s family even more was the allegation that the surgeon walked out halfway through the procedure, leaving the anesthetist to continue alone. The operation, which should have lasted six hours, reportedly finished in less than two.

Marilha Menezes Antunes, a 28-year-old mother from Rio de Janeiro, lost her life after placing her trust in a surgeon with a long history of complaints and legal troubles.

Hoping to reshape her body with liposuction and a BBL, she entered a clinic that investigators later shut down for expired medication and inadequate equipment.

Moreover, the man operating on her had been previously convicted in another patient’s passing.

During the procedure, José Emílio de Brito reportedly perforated Marilha’s kidney, causing catastrophic internal bleeding. Rather than transferring her to a proper hospital, he attempted to revive her inside the rented clinic room, without the resources needed to save her.

By the time Emergency Medical Services arrived, Marilha had already succumbed to her injuries. Her family said she never stood a chance under those conditions.

The surgeon, who was facing numerous lawsuits and had been arrested before, was taken into custody once again.

Daidys Peña, a 50-year-old woman from Florida, had her life permanently altered after undergoing a BBL at A&E Med Spa.

Hoping the procedure would boost her confidence, she trusted the clinic and the doctor involved, unaware that he was not board-certified in plastic surgery despite being presented as one.

A month after the operation, Daidys suffered a massive pulmonary embolism that cut off blood flow to her lungs and heart. By the time doctors intervened, the damage was irreversible. She survived, but lost the ability to walk, talk, or eat on her own.

Her husband Jorge now cares for her around the clock. He says the woman he married never came back after the embolism.

He filed a lawsuit accusing the spa and Dr. Fermin Esteban Morales of misleading patients about his qualifications and performing a procedure that should never have been entrusted to him.

Santangelo, an actress known for her role in CSI: Miami, lost her life on March 24, 2025, after receiving silicone injections to enlarge her buttocks inside her own home.

The 58-year-old had sought the help of Libby Adame, a woman known in underground circles as someone who performed cosmetic procedures without medical training.

Adame botched the procedure, and one of the injections entered her bloodstream. As is usual with BBL fatalities, Santangelo suffered a fatal embolism.

Investigators later learned that Adame had already been convicted of involuntary manslaughter in the passing of another woman in 2019.

She had been warned in court the year before that repeating the procedure could lead to a m*rder charge.

The jury agreed. They ruled that Adame knew the dangers and continued anyway, and she was convicted of second degree m*rder and practicing medicine without certification.

Alice Webb, a 33-year-old mother of five from England, lost her life after undergoing a “non-surgical BBL” with a self-described beautician who advertised the procedure on social media.

Believing she was receiving a safer, less invasive version of the traditional BBL, she trusted practitioners who were not medically qualified to perform high-volume injections of hyaluronic acid.

Moreover, these types of procedures were already warned against by UK regulators for their risk of blood clots, sepsis, and tissue damage.

Shortly after the injections, Alice fell severely ill and was rushed to Gloucestershire Royal Hospital, where her condition rapidly deteriorated.

Despite emergency intervention, she passed away in the early hours, becoming what authorities believe is the first person in the UK to lose their life from this specific type of BBL.

Police later arrested two people, including beautician Jordan “Lip King” Parke.

Delegates Chase Out Bawumia & Rev. Ntim Fordjour During Campaign At Assin Central

0

A campaign event involving Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and Rev. John Ntim Fordjour, Member of Parliament for Assin South, turned chaotic in Assin Central after angry delegates and youth reportedly disrupted the gathering and forced key figures out of the venue.

The incident occurred during what was meant to be a strategic political engagement with party delegates and constituency executives ahead of internal party activities. The event, however, quickly descended into tension as groups of delegates openly expressed dissatisfaction with what they described as unfulfilled promises and misleading propaganda.

Eyewitnesses said that youth and grassroots members of the party began chanting and demanding that the leaders leave the premises. The crowd accused the campaign team of ignoring the struggles of party base members, including unemployment, lack of support for polling station executives, and poor communication from national leadership.

Some delegates reportedly shouted that politics should not be treated as a “game of deception,” insisting that leadership must be built on truth, accountability, and respect for grassroots voices. Religious expressions and emotional outbursts were also heard, with some participants invoking phrases such as “Jesus Christ of Nazareth” in protest, highlighting the intensity of frustration at the event.

Sources within the constituency claimed that the tensions were sparked by what delegates described as “unpaid promises and propaganda” relating to campaign support, welfare packages, and earlier assurances made by party figures. Many argued that their loyalty during election periods had not been matched by meaningful recognition or development.

Security at the venue reportedly struggled to control the situation as tempers flared. Eventually, members of Dr. Bawumia’s team and Rev. Ntim Fordjour were escorted out under tight security to prevent further escalation.

The Assin Central incident has triggered debates within political circles, as analysts warn that internal dissatisfaction among grassroots supporters could pose serious challenges to party unity ahead of future elections. Party insiders have called for calm and internal dialogue, urging leaders to listen more closely to concerns from the base of the party. As of now, neither Dr. Bawumia nor Rev. Ntim Fordjour has issued an official statement on the incident, while investigations into the circumstances surrounding the disruption are ongoing.

The Advocate for Indigenous Freight Forwarders has applauded President John Dramani Mahama for the foresight that led to the expansion of the Tema Port, describing the project as a turning point for Ghana’s maritime sector and a major boost to indigenous freight forwarding businesses.

In a statement signed by its Convenor, Dr. Godfred Mawuli Tettey, the group said the US$1.5 billion expansion project—commissioned this year after its initial approval under Mahama’s previous administration—has begun delivering tangible economic gains despite the heavy criticism that surrounded the contract at the time.

According to Dr. Tettey, the expansion has transformed the Tema Port into one of Africa’s most efficient and modern gateways, enabling Ghana to compete favourably with major ports in the sub-region. He said critics who opposed the project years ago have now been proven wrong, as the facility is significantly improving vessel turnaround times, cargo handling efficiency and overall trade facilitation.

Dr. Tettey stressed that the upgraded terminal is generating new business for indigenous freight forwarders, clearing agents and haulage companies. He noted that the increased capacity and modern systems at the port are allowing local operators to process more cargo, serve more clients and grow their revenue. He added that the ripple effects of the project are evident in rising demand for services across the logistics chain.

The Advocate for Indigenous Freight also highlighted employment creation as one of the standout benefits of the port expansion. The statement said thousands of Ghanaians are securing jobs in areas such as port operations, trucking, customs processing, stevedoring and ancillary logistics services, contributing to improved livelihoods and economic expansion.

Commenting on the government’s push for a 24-Hour Economy, Dr. Tettey indicated that the policy is enhancing the gains of the port expansion by improving efficiency and reducing administrative delays in cargo clearing. He said the extended operational hours adopted by key port agencies and private operators are making it possible for freight forwarders to work with greater predictability and faster turnaround times.

He further noted that the combination of a world-class port and continuous economic operations strengthens Ghana’s position as a strategic logistics hub under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA). He urged the Transport Ministry and the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority to continue prioritizing the interests of indigenous freight operators to ensure that local businesses remain at the centre of Ghana’s trade transformation.

Dr. Tettey concluded that the expanded Tema Port is a national asset whose benefits must be maximized through inclusive policies, sustained government support and improved collaboration among stakeholders in the maritime and logistics ecosystem.

BoG Governor takes Cedi@60 education to Makola traders, urges proper handling of banknotes

0

The Governor of the Bank of Ghana, Dr. Johnson Asiama, on Friday, November 21, 2025, led a team of central bank officials to the Makola Market as part of ongoing public engagement activities marking the Cedi@60 celebration.

Dr. Asiama, accompanied by Deputy Governor Dr. Zakari Mumuni and staff of the Bank, interacted with traders to better understand their trading conditions while deepening public education on the value and proper handling of the national currency.

During the engagement, the Governor stressed the need for Ghanaians to show respect and care for banknotes, reminding the public that every cedi handled responsibly contributes to preserving the currency’s lifespan and reducing replacement costs.

He advised traders, saying, “Do not squeeze the cedi, do not crumple the cedi, do not write on it, and always keep your money in a purse, wallet, or aprons.”

The community outreach is part of a broader nationwide campaign aimed at strengthening confidence in the Ghana Cedi and promoting financial awareness under the Cedi@60 theme: “Our Money, Our Heritage.”

Two suspected robbers lynched after killing Okada rider

0

Two suspected armed robbers have been lynched after allegedly robbing and killing an Okada rider at Awutu Mampong in the Awutu Senya West District of the Central Region.

The suspects reportedly hired the services of 19-year-old Kofi Mensah, an SHS rider, but shot him midway through the journey before fleeing with his motorbike, mobile phone, and an unspecified amount of money. They had tied his hands with a rope before escaping.

Colleagues who discovered Mensah’s body shortly after the attack launched a search in the area, apprehended the suspects, and subjected them to severe beatings that led to their immediate deaths.

Assemblyman for Agona Asafo Electoral Area, Ishmael Odoom, told Citi News he is concerned about the rising spate of robbery attacks on Okada riders in the area.

“Motorbikes are constantly being stolen, sometimes at gunpoint. There are no jobs in this area, and so most of the young boys depend on the okada business for livelihood, but it’s becoming too dangerous. This is an SHS graduate who was trying to make savings towards his university education, and was killed by the robbers,” he said.

The Assemblyman has also urged the police to intensify operations in the area.

All three bodies have been conveyed by the Agona Swedru Police to the Police Hospital.

Several pages of my memoir will be for ‘Prime Minister’ Gabby Otchere-Darko

0

The Minority Leader of Parliament, Alexander Afenyo-Markin, has hinted that several pages of the memoir he plans to write in the future will be dedicated to New Patriotic Party (NPP) stalwart, Gabby Otchere-Darko.

According to him, Gabby whom he referred to as “Prime Minister” is one of the few people within the party who sat him down and advised him during some of the lowest moments of his life.

Speaking in an interview on Asasepa, shared on social media, Afenyo-Markin explained that during the early years of the previous NPP administration, when the party recaptured power from the then National Democratic Congress (NDC), he felt neglected because he was not rewarded with any position or appointment.

He added that despite being a long-standing Member of Parliament for the Effutu Constituency in the Central Region, he was not given any parliamentary committee leadership role, even though new entrants secured such positions.

“Look, God has planned everything. For me to even be here, I never dreamt of becoming a Whip, then a Deputy Leader and eventually the Leader of the Minority.

“Your boss, Gabby Otchere-Darko, aka Prime Minister, the day I write my memoir, I will dedicate several pages in his honour,” he said.

There have been attempts to remove Afenyo-Markin from leadership – Kwesi Pratt alleges

“We fought hard to win power and when they shared the positions, I didn’t get any. Even in Parliament, I didn’t get committee leadership but newcomers were made committee leaders. We went through trials but people like Gabby sat me down and said, Alex, how old are you? You are in your 30s. Go and work hard and pray. Politics is always like that.”

He noted that Gabby’s advice encouraged him to stay focused and work harder, ultimately contributing to his rise as Minority Leader.

South Africa's Acting High Commissioner to Ghana, Thando Dalamba South Africa’s Acting High Commissioner to Ghana, Thando Dalamba

South Africa’s Acting High Commissioner to Ghana, Thando Dalamba, says trade relations between the two nations are steadily improving, with both governments committed to deepening economic cooperation across key sectors.

He made the remarks at the Global South Africans Business Luncheon held in Accra on November 20, 2025, an engagement jointly organised by Brand South Africa, the South African High Commission and the Ghana–South Africa Business Chamber to strengthen diaspora ties and promote trade and investment across the continent.

According to Dalamba, bilateral trade has grown from 14 billion South African rand in 2020 to 18 billion rand (approximately USD 1 billion) in 2024, signalling progress though not at the level both countries aspire to reach.

He explained that trade matters are guided by the Binational Commission, which met in South Africa in March 2024 to address challenges and identify growth opportunities. The next session is expected to be hosted in Ghana in 2026.

“We are positive that things are moving in the right direction between the two countries,” he stressed.

Fact Check: Ghana did not overtake South Africa as Africa’s top gold producer this year

Dalamba highlighted mining, agriculture, agribusiness, hospitality, retail and real estate as core sectors driving bilateral cooperation.

He emphasised the Ghana–South Africa Business Chamber’s role in supporting private-sector partnerships, noting that despite a few “hiccups,” most challenges can be resolved through ongoing dialogue.

On the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA), he expressed optimism but urged greater public communication from the AfCFTA Secretariat to ensure businesses fully understand the regime’s benefits.

He referenced a South African shipment to Ghana under AfCFTA rules as evidence that the agreement is operational, though more awareness is needed.

Head of the Diaspora Desk at the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC), Nadia Okudzeto speaking on behalf of the Chief Executive Officer

Simon Madjie

, underscored Ghana’s shift toward recognising the diaspora as a strategic engine for growth.

She revealed that GIPC has developed a Diaspora Engagement Policy, a Diaspora Desk and the Investment Opportunity Mapping Project, which highlights investment-ready prospects across the country.

“Every nation is recognising the potential of the diaspora, we want to ensure that the great work you’re doing is captured and supported.”

Brand South Africa’s General Manager for Global Markets, Jimmy Ranamane, echoed the need for deeper people-to-people engagement, explaining that trade thrives when human connections are strong.

“Before you can even think of trade, you need to have that human interaction,” he noted.

Ranamane also emphasised that the delegation’s presence in Ghana forms part of efforts to amplify South Africa’s G20 message of solidarity, equality and sustainability across the continent.

No genuine prophet’s prophecies are always right – Nigel Gaisie

Nigel Gaisie is the leader of Prophetic Hill Chapel. Nigel Gaisie is the leader of Prophetic Hill Chapel.

No genuine prophet can have all their prophecies come true according to Prophet Nigel Gaisie, leader of Prophetic Hill Chapel.

In an interview on Starr FM with host Bola Ray, Nigel Gaisie was asked why some people struggle to trust prophets whose prophecies do not always materialise. He explained that prophets, being human, are not infallible, and it is unrealistic to expect 100% accuracy.

Prophet Nigel Gaisie predicts major crack in NDC by 2027

“No genuine prophet gets prophecies coming to pass 100%. No genuine prophet. You cannot be a genuine prophet and have all your prophecies fulfilled. If you do, it becomes mechanical prophecy. Sometimes you get it wrong because you’re human. Sometimes you can misinterpret. But you are not God. Only God is perfect,” he said.

He added that while prophets hear from God, perceive from God, and sense from God, they remain human, which is why some prophecies may not be fulfilled.

Prophet Gaisie has also been vocal about political matters, particularly regarding Kennedy Agyapong’s potential bid for the New Patriotic Party’s (NPP) flagbearer position.

He issued a warning that the NPP would face humiliation in the 2028 elections if Agyapong becomes the party’s flagbearer, calling the former MP the anti-Christ and predicting resistance from churches and prophets over his political ambitions.

This is the second time Gaisie has delivered such a prophecy concerning internal NPP matters.

Prof Stephen Adei alleges President Mahama has ‘legalised galamsey’ through GoldBod

0

Professor Stephen Adei is an educationist and former Chairman NDPC Professor Stephen Adei is an educationist and former Chairman NDPC

Educationist and former Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), Professor Stephen Adei, has accused President John Dramani Mahama’s administration of effectively legalising illegal mining, galamsey, under the guise of the newly established GoldBod.

Speaking in a video shared by Bullet TV, Professor Adei told a congregation that politicians, traditional leaders, and security officials are the real drivers of Ghana’s polluted rivers, insisting they enable galamsey while pretending to fight it.

He sarcastically noted that these groups have a way of making galamsey appear acceptable. He said, for instance, the current government has set up GoldBod, which claims to purchase gold from genuine small-scale miners.

GoldBod’s track-and-trace system begins in first quarter of 2026 – CEO hints

Professor Adei questioned this, pointing out that if the government could differentiate between legitimate small-scale miners and galamsey operators, it could have stopped illegal mining altogether.

“The politicians, the chiefs, and the security agents are responsible for polluting the entire water sources in Ghana. They have a way of making it look acceptable. For example, the current government, which in many ways is doing well, has legalised galamsey. GoldBod is essentially the legalisation of galamsey,” he said.

GoldBod was created to formalise the gold trading sector, particularly for small-scale miners, and to promote traceability in the industry. The initiative is also intended to enhance Ghana’s international reputation as a responsible and transparent gold producer.

Under this framework, the government envisions GoldBod as the exclusive buyer of gold from licensed small-scale miners, operating through accredited aggregators. GoldBod is also expected to serve as the sole assayer of gold in Ghana.

Dr Steve Manteaw rebuts Prof Adei’s claim that GoldBod has ‘legalised galamsey’

Policy analyst and natural resource governance advocate, Dr Steve Manteaw Policy analyst and natural resource governance advocate, Dr Steve Manteaw

Policy analyst and natural resource governance advocate, Dr Steve Manteaw, has dismissed as “mischievous” the claims by Professor Stephen Adei that the establishment of the Ghana Gold Board effectively legalises illegal mining, popularly known as galamsey.

According to Dr Manteaw, Professor Adei’s assertions reflect a fundamental misunderstanding of the purpose, mandate, and regulatory framework governing the newly established Ghana Gold Board.

He argued that the professor’s comments indicate a lack of familiarity with the GoldBod Act, which outlines stringent measures designed precisely to prevent illegally mined gold from entering Ghana’s official supply chain.

Dr Manteaw noted that the GoldBod is already considering proposals to implement a comprehensive gold traceability system, a key legal requirement under its establishing Act.

“How can an Act that mandates a full traceability framework, including documentation of custody from mine head to market, be interpreted as an attempt to legalize galamsey?” he questioned.

He further emphasised that the Board’s policy and operational tools are aligned with OECD guidelines on Responsible Mineral Sourcing as well as Financial Action Task Force (FATF) requirements on customer due diligence.

These international standards, he explained, exist to strengthen transparency and curb the illicit minerals trade.

“Again, how can an entity whose processes are aligned with global due-diligence norms be described as one intended to legalise galamsey?” he added.

Describing Professor Adei’s remarks as “pedestrian,” Dr Manteaw expressed disappointment that such commentary had come from a senior academic.

He urged critics to acquaint themselves with the provisions of the GoldBod Act before making pronouncements that may misinform the public.

“If My Husband Comes to Power, I Will Jail You” — Samira Bawumia Fires Back at Wendy Shay

0

A fresh controversy has erupted on social media after Second Lady Samira Bawumia was captured in a viral GhPage video responding sharply to comments made by Ghanaian musician Wendy Shay. According to GhPage, the tension began when Wendy Shay publicly criticized Samira Bawumia over alleged neglect of female creatives and what she described as “hypocritical leadership” within the entertainment industry.

In her emotional outburst, Wendy Shay accused the Second Lady of ignoring her concerns and failing to use her influence to support struggling artists, especially women. She reportedly questioned Samira’s commitment to empowering the youth, claiming that many promises made to entertainers remained unfulfilled. According to GhPage, Wendy Shay’s comments quickly gained traction online, sparking heated debate among fans and political supporters alike.

Responding in a strongly worded statement during a community interaction, Samira Bawumia addressed the accusations directly. According to GhPage, she warned Wendy Shay to be cautious with her statements, stressing that political leadership comes with responsibility and respect. The video captured Samira saying:

“If my husband comes to power, I will jail you.”

Her remark, though interpreted by many as a figure of speech, has since stirred intense public discussion and criticism.

Social media reactions remain sharply divided. Supporters of Wendy Shay argue that the musician was simply speaking truth to power, raising legitimate concerns about government engagement with the entertainment industry. Others, however, view her comments as disrespectful and unnecessary, insisting that the Second Lady deserved more decorum.

According to GhPage, political analysts say the exchange reveals growing frustrations among creatives who feel ignored by political leaders. The incident also highlights how influential figures like Wendy Shay can shape national conversations—sometimes provoking reactions from high-profile officials.

As the debate continues to trend, neither Wendy Shay nor Samira Bawumia has issued an official follow‑up statement. Ghanaians now wait to see whether the controversy will escalate or whether both parties will choose a path of reconciliation.

Savelugu MP slams 2026 Budget for failing Ghana’s vulnerable

0

The Member of Parliament for Savelugu, Hajia Fatahiya Abdul Aziz, has expressed serious concerns over what she describes as the persistent underfunding of Ghana’s social protection programmes, warning that the 2026 Budget and Economic Policy fails to safeguard the country’s most vulnerable citizens.

Speaking during the debate on the principles of the 2026 Budget on Thursday, November 20, 2025, Abdul Aziz criticised the government for what she called a “profound disconnect between policy commitments and actual funding,” arguing that critical welfare interventions continue to be deprioritised at a time of deepening economic hardship.

According to the MP, allocations to social protection programmes, including LEAP, the Ghana School Feeding Programme, and related transfers, total GH¢3.46 billion — just 0.22% of GDP, far below international benchmarks for developing countries.

“This is not simply a budgetary shortfall; it is a reflection of misplaced priorities,” she said. “At a time when poverty and vulnerability are worsening across communities, especially among women, children and persons with disabilities, this budget fails to deliver meaningful protection.”

She noted that the Ministry of Gender, Children and Social Protection, which oversees most welfare interventions, remains severely under-resourced, receiving only 1.1% of total government expenditure for 2026. Capital expenditure for the Ministry stands at GH¢11.6 million, just 0.36% of its allocation — a situation she warned would hinder the expansion and upgrading of welfare offices, digital systems, shelters, and rescue centres.

Abdul Aziz also expressed alarm at drastic cuts to two key protection instruments: the Domestic Violence Fund and the Child Trafficking Fund, each receiving only GH¢1 million in the 2026 budget, down from GH¢2.7 million and GH¢2.1 million respectively in 2024.

“These cuts are not only unjustified but dangerous,” she stressed. “Such minimal allocations cannot support shelters, psychosocial services, rescue operations or rehabilitation for survivors of violence and trafficking. At a time when these cases are rising, our budget must respond not retreat.”

The MP also highlighted what she termed “new neglects” in the 2026 Budget, citing the lack of gender-responsive targeting in major flagships such as the 24-Hour Economy and infrastructure initiatives. She warned that failure to intentionally include women risks widening the existing economic gap.

For rural women farmers, particularly in areas like Savelugu, she noted that the budget offers little support in areas such as climate-resilient inputs, financial inclusion, and livelihoods programmes.

Abdul Aziz concluded with a firm call for government to reprioritise its spending.

“A budget is the clearest expression of a government’s priorities,” she said. “Ghanaians, particularly the vulnerable, cannot thrive on promises. They require actual, targeted investments and accountable implementation to build resilience and improve wellbeing.”

Parliament continues to debate the 2026 Budget and Economic Policy, with social protection emerging as one of the most critical concerns raised by lawmakers.

Afenyo-Markin hot over the location of Ken Ofori-Atta

0

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin came under pressure on Friday to explain the continued absence of former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, who is expected to return to Ghana to face investigations into alleged corruption-related contracts, including the GRA–SML deal and the National Cathedral project.

The debate began when the Minister for Local Government, Ahmed Ibrahim, reminded the House of Afenyo-Markin’s earlier assurance that Ofori-Atta would be back in the country by February 18.

Seven fire tenders battle huge fire outbreak at Weija Junction

0

A major industrial fire erupted earlier today (November 22) at a factory site near Weija Junction, prompting a massive deployment of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) apparatus from across the Greater Accra and Central Regions.

The blaze is reported to involve plastics, posing significant challenges to containment due to the highly combustible nature and toxic smoke output of burning synthetic materials.

In response to the severity of the outbreak, the GNFS dispatched a coordinated effort involving seven fire stations, with dozens of firefighters battling to douse the flames.

Due to the intensity of the flames, the GNFS had to call for support from Weija, Kasoa, Anyaa, Circle, Industrial Area, National Headquarters, and Dansoman.

Burning plastics release dense, black smoke containing harmful toxins such as dioxins and furans, necessitating specialised protective equipment and breathing apparatus for the firefighting teams.

Firefighting efforts are currently focused on preventing the fire from spreading to adjacent structures and minimising environmental impact.

Industrial fires involving plastics typically burn hotter and faster than those involving wood or paper, requiring large volumes of water and foam concentrate.

Many officers are currently at the scene, working under extremely dangerous conditions to extinguish the blaze.

Authorities are urging the public to avoid the Weija Junction area to allow emergency services unhindered access to the factory site.

Further updates on the cause of the fire, any potential injuries, and the extent of the damage are expected as the GNFS gains control of the situation.

Several pages of my memoir will be for ‘Prime Minister’ Gabby Otchere-Darko

Essipong Sports Stadium needs urgent attention – Sports Minister Kofi Adams – Ghana Latest Football News, Live Scores, Results

0

The Essipong Sports Stadium in the Western Region, a key sporting facility built in 2008 for the African Cup of Nations, is in a state of serious deterioration.

This was revealed during an inspection conducted by the Minister for Sports and Recreation, Kofi Iddie Adams and the Director General of the National Sports Authority, Mr Yaw Ampofu Ankrah.

The stadium, with a capacity of twenty thousand spectators, has not undergone significant rehabilitation since its construction, raising concerns about its current condition and suitability for hosting sporting events.

The planned rehabilitation for Phases I and II included reroofing with anti-rust materials, replacing seats, refurbishing washrooms, installing air-conditioning systems, fitting sunglasses, lighting system, and installing of a new scoreboard.

It was observed that private developers have taken over the land on which the stadium is situated, posing a significant challenge. In response, Hon. Adams called on the Regional Coordinating Council and local chiefs to intervene and address these land issues.

In addition to these upgrades, there are plans to further improve the stadium by refurbishing the playing pitch, upgrading public address systems, enhancing corporate boxes, hostel facilities, security zones, and dressing rooms areas not covered in the initial contract. These efforts aim to fully restore the stadium’s capacity to host sporting activities and events.

Hon. Adams emphasised the urgent need for funding to support the maintenance and development of sports infrastructure across Ghana. He appealed to the media to back the initiative to generate revenue through the National Sports Development Fund, stressing that the government is committed to giving the sports sector serious attention, as reaffirmed by President John Dramani Mahama.

While inspecting the facility, Hon. Adams expressed satisfaction with the quality of work completed so far but voiced disappointment over the slow progress of work. He underscored the importance of accelerating the work to ensure the stadium is fully functional soon.

Hon. Adams assured that urgent measures would be taken to make the stadium operational in the shortest possible time, reaffirming the government’s commitment to revitalising sports infrastructure nationwide.

The traditional leader joined hundreds of hopeful applicants seeking to qualify for enlistment into the military, insisting that his position as a chief does not prevent him from pursuing his personal ambitions.

Speaking during an interview at the screening grounds, the chief stated that he had join the recruitment process to “fight for his own future.”

“I’m just here to fight for my own future,” he said.

The interviewer questioned whether the physical demands of the military might conflict with the traditional restrictions placed on chiefs, such as not running or performing certain tasks in public. But the chief insisted he was ready to comply with military discipline.

“I’m a man of authority…If I command, people can do it. But as far as I’m here, if you command me, I’ll also do it,” he said.

He revealed that he had completed the documentation and preliminary screening phases and was preparing to undergo body selection, one of the most critical stages in the GAF recruitment process.

Asked for his message to the people of Kotoku Sabama, the chief encouraged them to take opportunities in the security services seriously.

“If me being the chief, I’m here, then they should also try to engage themselves in the security services.”

Beautiful Ghanaian TikTok star killed by boyfriend

0

Ghanaian TikToker Abena Charlotte, widely known as Biggest Abena, has died after an alleged attack by her boyfriend, Sylvester Sowah, at their home at Abompe New Site in the Ashanti Region on Wednesday, November 19, 2025.

According to Angel FM correspondent Chukwu Joseph, who visited the Obuasi community, the TikToker’s body was discovered in a chair inside the house by some residents after the incident.

Insiders reveal masterful deception America is pulling over Venezuela

0

The Caribbean is bristling with warships – a nuclear submarine lurks beneath the waves and F-35 fighter jets roar overhead.

Thirteen US warships, five support vessels, and Marine contingents are stationed just off Venezuela’s coast. The world’s largest aircraft carrier, the USS Gerald R Ford, just joined them.

Officially, it is a counter-narcotics operation. Unofficially, it looks like something else.

Speaking exclusively to the Daily Mail, Elliott Abrams – the hard-nosed foreign policy chief from Donald Trump’s first administration – lifted the lid on what insiders call ‘the real plan’ to remove Venezuelan strongman Nicolás Maduro from power.

The US government has quietly assembled a $150million package of available bounties to encourage Maduro’s top lieutenants to turn on their leader in a dramatic ‘palace coup,’ Abrams said.

It is a high-stakes play that combines cash, coercion and quiet military might.

‘It’s a big psy-op, a psychological operation, and the bounties are a part of it,’ Abrams said.

The US government has offered up to $50 million for anyone who can help put Maduro in handcuffs, accusing him of ‘narco-terrorism’ and plots involving cocaine trafficking, machine guns and destructive devices.

That is the same reward once offered for al-Qaeda leader Osama bin Laden.

Smaller bounties target Maduro’s cronies – $25 million for his interior minister and $15 million for his defense chief. Together, they add up to roughly $150 million in rewards.

It is a classic use of maximum pressure: a blend of warships and whispers.

‘All this pressure is going to make the regime crack,’ Abrams told the Daily Mail.

‘I hope the CIA is reaching out to people, particularly in the military, to say, ‘Maduro has no future, but you can have a future if you’ll just act against him.’

Abrams suggests appealing to their wallets.

‘You can say to people in the military, for example, ‘There will be no witch hunt. You just retire, take the money, and run. You’ve already made your millions of dollars, you’ve already got your properties in Madrid or Miami – and you will be allowed to enjoy them, but only if you help us now’,’ he said.

Some members of Maduro’s inner circle are frequently named as potential defectors.

They include his spymaster Diosdado Cabello Rondón, long-serving defense chief Vladimir Padrino López, and attorney-general Tarek William Saab – powerful figures with enough clout to worry their boss.

Some experts say they are already too compromised by a slew of criminal charges and sanctions from overseas powers – meaning those men may calculate that they’re better off sticking together.

Instead, Abrams said, a cadre of mid-ranking military and intelligence officials could be encouraged to rise up and boot out Maduro, his wife Cilia Adela Flores de Maduro, Cabello Rondón, Padrino López and the rest of the inner circle.

‘A bounty may only go to one or two people, but an amnesty can go to a thousand,’ Abrams explained.

It is a chilling offer: Help bring down Maduro, or risk going down with him.

Inside the capital city, Caracas, fear runs deep.

Abrams told the Daily Mail that the Venezuelan capital is ‘completely permeated by Cuban intelligence agents,’ part of a long-standing alliance between the socialist economies.

They are everywhere, he said, working to root out anyone who might work with Uncle Sam.

Even if Maduro falls, Abrams warns, the transition ‘would not be quick or clean.’

Trump is doubtless wary of wars due to America’s record of long and messy entanglements in Afghanistan and Iraq.

‘No one believes this will be over and done in a day,’ said Abrams.

‘It’s more like what happened when communism collapsed in Eastern Europe. It’s going to take a long time to root out the system that’s been built over 20 years.’

Abrams – now a senior fellow at the Council on Foreign Relations – helped craft the original ‘maximum pressure’ playbook during Trump’s first term.

Now, he told the Daily Mail, the pressure is even greater.

Secretary of State Marco Rubio has called Maduro a ‘horrible dictator’ and said he wants a democratic opposition to replace his ‘narco-regime.’

When Trump ally Pam Bondi doubled the bounty on Maduro to $50 million in August, she called him ‘one of the world’s largest drug traffickers’ and ‘a threat to US national security.’

Trump recently said Maduro’s ‘days are numbered.’

The commander-in-chief said he doubted America would go to full-scale war, but he also hinted the US might take ‘many kinds of actions’ to deal with what he called a regime that had ‘been treating us very badly.’

Maduro, for his part, has accused the US of ‘fabricating a new war.’

Not everyone in Washington thinks the plan will work.

Jose Ignacio Hernández, a Venezuelan law professor and senior associate at the Center for Strategic and International Studies national security think tank, scoffed at the sums on offer.

He told the BBC $50 million is ‘nothing’ to senior Venezuelan officials, who can make much more money from corruption in their oil-rich dictatorship.

Ignacio Hernández doubts generals will risk everything for a bounty.

‘They will think, ‘In some way or another, I am involved in criminal activities too,” he said.

The logic is brutal: ‘Stick together or hang separately.’

Michael Albertus, a political scientist at the University of Chicago, agrees.

He told the BBC that even a bounty of $500 million wouldn’t make Maduro’s inner circle turn him in.

‘Authoritarian leaders are always suspicious of even their inner circle,’ he said.

‘They create mechanisms for monitoring them and ensuring loyalty.’

Those mechanisms are deadly.

Venezuela’s internal security network – backed by Cuban intelligence – tracks dissent and purges traitors.

Planning a coup is almost impossible, and always dangerous.

Maduro also has Russia, China and Iran in his corner – providing diplomatic, military and economic lifelines that help him survive US sanctions.

The regime, for all its fragility, has proven remarkably resilient – a 2018 drone attack failed, and a 2020 mercenary invasion collapsed in days. Several military uprisings fizzled before they began.

Each failure only tightened Maduro’s grip.

Meanwhile, his opposition is splintered, divided and broke.

The 2024 election was widely dismissed as a sham, and opposition groups have provided vote tallies showing that Maduro lost. Washington doesn’t recognize Maduro as president.

Still, Abrams insists the growing armada psy-op strategy and is working.

Every sanction, every strike, every whisper, he says, piles pressure on Caracas.

‘You don’t build up this kind of armada without using it,’ he said.

Across the Caribbean, US military engineers are busy.

At the old Roosevelt Roads Naval Station in Puerto Rico, new runways are being repaved.

Civilian airports in St Croix and the Virgin Islands are quietly being upgraded for ‘logistics.’

Officially, the US deployment is all for counter-narcotics. US strikes have in recent weeks destroyed 16 alleged drug-trafficking boats and claimed 64 lives.

Unofficially, experts say the American armada off Venezuela’s coast is ‘too big for drugs, too small for invasion.’

Washington says the buildup is part of a ‘homeland security mission.’

But the ships, planes, and troops – now within striking distance of Caracas – suggest preparation for limited or sustained regional operations.

The ambiguity is the message: keep Maduro guessing, and keep the world watching.

Yet critics warn the strategy flirts with illegality.

A defection from Venezuela's Attorney General Tarek William Saab (pictured) could spell the end of the Maduro regime
A defection from Venezuela’s Attorney General Tarek William Saab (pictured) could spell the end of the Maduro regime

Some US lawmakers question whether the buildup and operations in the Caribbean have ‘proper authorization.’

Others fear it could ‘test international law’ if the mission turns from counter-narcotics to regime change.

For now, the armada waits, the money dangles and the pressure builds.

And somewhere out in the Caribbean, under the watch of radar and cloud, the warships keep circling.

THE MEN WHO COULD BRING MADURO DOWN

Inside Nicolás Maduro’s crumbling inner circle, a handful of powerful men hold the keys to his survival – or his downfall.

Venezuela's Minister of Interior Relations, Justice, and Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón is part of Maduro's inner circle
Venezuela’s Minister of Interior Relations, Justice, and Peace, Diosdado Cabello Rondón is part of Maduro’s inner circle

Diosdado Cabello Rondón is the muscle behind the throne. The head of Venezuela’s feared internal intelligence network, he is a pillar of the regime – and a man under siege. The US State Department has slapped a $25 million bounty on him over drug trafficking and narco-terrorism charges, while Argentina wants him for crimes against humanity. Washington has also accused him of running an extortion racket. The pressure is immense. But for Cabello to flip, insiders say he would need one thing above all: a rock-solid immunity deal.

Tarek William Saab
Tarek William Saab

Vladimir Padrino López, the iron-fisted Defense Minister, commands the loyalty of Venezuela’s top generals. He’s one of the few men who could actually push Maduro aside. But with a $15 million US bounty and a string of narco-terror allegations, his fate is tied to the regime’s. Without guarantees for his money and safety, few believe he will risk it.

Tarek William Saab, the regime’s Attorney General and revolutionary poet, has overseen brutal post-election crackdowns. Sanctioned by the US, Canada and the EU, he faces mounting isolation. If Maduro wobbles, Saab may well be the first to scramble for the exit and pick up the phone to Washington.

Perfect Skirt and Blouse With Gown Style: A Timeless Fashion Choice for Every Occasion

News Hub Creator24min

The skirt and blouse fashion style continues to remain one of the most elegant and versatile choices for women who want a refined and memorable look. Today, designers are adding a modern twist by combining this classic two-piece outfit with a flowing gown layer. This unique blend offers sophistication, comfort, and a graceful silhouette suitable for weddings, church services, engagements, and other special events.

The style often features a well-tailored blouse paired with a fitted or flared skirt. Designers now elevate this combination by adding a long gown overlay made from fabrics such as chiffon, tulle, lace, or organza. This additional gown layer gives the outfit a regal appearance and allows the wearer to stand out with ease. The gown extension may flow from the waist, shoulder, or one side of the skirt, depending on the design.

One of the most popular versions of this trend is the peplum blouse paired with a mermaid skirt. When combined with a detachable gown cape, the outfit becomes a perfect choice for evening receptions or formal celebrations. Another admired option is a Kente skirt and blouse with a lace gown train, which is especially common for traditional engagements. This fusion of cultural and modern elements produces a stylish and memorable look.

Ankara lovers also enjoy this trend by adding sheer gown layers to their skirt and blouse sets. This brings a youthful and fashionable feel to the outfit. For a more structured look, a corset blouse matched with a straight skirt and side gown drop creates a bold and dramatic statement.

The skirt and blouse with gown style is a perfect example of how fashion continues to evolve. It blends tradition with modern creativity, offering women a chance to express elegance in a fresh and exciting way.

“He Set Me Up and Beat Me When I Said No”: Woman in Viral Video Breaks Silence

News Hub Creator23h

Madam Harriet Amuzu, the 32-year-old woman whose brutal assault was captured in a viral video, has spoken publicly for the first time, revealing the events that led to the attack and the fear she endured at the hands of her estranged husband. Her account provides a clearer understanding of the disturbing incident that has sparked nationwide outrage and renewed calls for stronger protections against domestic violence.

According to Harriet, her marriage had ended months before the attack. After leaving her husband, she returned to her hometown to rebuild her life, while their children remained in his custody. She believed she had put the painful chapter behind her until a recent phone call from her estranged husband drew her back into what she now describes as a carefully laid trap. He told her that one of their children was critically ill, prompting her to travel urgently in distress and fear. When she arrived, however, she found the child in perfect health, with no explanation offered for the false alarm.

Faced with transportation challenges and approaching nightfall, Harriet opted to stay the night and return home the following morning. What seemed like a reasonable decision soon turned into a nightmare. She explained that the confrontation began when she refused her husband’s sudden sexual advances. Her rejection, she said, infuriated him, and the situation quickly escalated into the violent attack that was later circulated online. The video, which shows Harriet struggling helplessly as she is beaten, has triggered widespread condemnation from citizens, activists and rights organisations.

Her testimony has intensified discussions about the dangers many women continue to face even after leaving abusive relationships. Harriet’s ordeal has become a rallying point for advocates pushing for stronger legal action, improved support services and justice for survivors of domestic and spousal abuse. Her bravery in recounting her experience has further fueled national demand for accountability and lasting change.

Mahama’s GoldBod has legalised galamsey – Prof. Adei

0

Professor Stephen Adei, a former Chairman of the National Development Planning Commission (NDPC), has launched a strong critique of the government’s gold-trading initiative, the Gold Board (GoldBod), describing it as a move that effectively legalises illegal mining, known locally as galamsey.

In a video that has gone viral on social media, Professor Adei accused the Mahama administration of enabling the destructive practice under the guise of formalising small-scale mining through GoldBod.

He alleged that political actors, traditional leaders and security agencies are the real forces behind the widespread degradation of Ghana’s water bodies, many of which he said now contain dangerous levels of turbidity and harmful chemicals.

“Who are the galamseyers? The politicians, the chiefs, and the security agents are responsible for polluting the whole of water sources in Ghana. They have a way of making it look nice,” he said.

“For example, the current government, which in many ways is doing well, has legalised galamsey. GoldBod is the legalisation of galamsey. We buy from the small-scale miners; if we’re able to distinguish between the small-genuine gold miners and the galamseyers, we could have stopped the galamseyers,” Professor Adei claimed.

According to him, the creation of a centralised state buyer for gold suggests an intention to accommodate the output of illegal miners rather than confront the root of environmental devastation.

He contended that by creating a national market for gold sourced from small-scale miners—whose operations often overlap with illegal mining—the government is effectively “laundering” the proceeds of environmental destruction.

GoldBod was set up with the stated aim of formalising the gold trading value chain, particularly for small-scale miners, and enhancing traceability within the industry.

Under the policy, the entity serves as the exclusive buyer of gold from licensed small-scale miners through accredited aggregators.

Prophet Nigel Gaisie predicts major crack in NDC by 2027

Founder and General Overseer of the Prophetic Hill Church, Prophet Nigel Gaisie Founder and General Overseer of the Prophetic Hill Church, Prophet Nigel Gaisie

Founder and General Overseer of the Prophetic Hill Church, Prophet Nigel Gaisie, has predicted that the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) will experience an internal rift in 2027, cautioning that the development could mirror the events that led to Alan Kyerematen’s exit from the New Patriotic Party (NPP).

Speaking in an interview on Starr FM on November 21, 2025, he said that he had “prophetically” foreseen a major crack within the party, involving a highly influential member.

According to him, although the party would survive the incident, the individual at the centre of the disagreement would suffer significant consequences.

2027, there’s going to be a crack in the NDC…prophetically, there’s going to be a crack in the NDC but it’s not going to affect the person that will exit the party. And I’m speaking figuratively, “he said.

Prophet Gaisie explained that in his vision, key figures of the NDC were gathered in a meeting room when a prominent member angrily opened the door, slammed it behind him and refused to return.

“They were in a room… having a meeting and one person who was very influential didn’t understand himself. He opened the door, slammed the door and he didn’t come again,” he narrated.

The cleric warned that if the party fails to properly manage internal issues from 2027 onwards, the situation could escalate into a high-profile exit similar to Alan Kyerematen’s breakaway from the NPP.

“I’m Raising Our Child Alone — Ayisha Modi Blasts Ofori Amponsah Over Abandonment and Betrayal

0

Ayisha Modi has intensified her public feud with highlife musician Ofori Amponsah, alleging not only betrayal and personal misconduct but also failure to provide for their child. According to a video reported by GhanaWeb on Thursday, 20th November 2025, Modi vowed to expose the full truth about her relationship with the musician, signaling that her silence over the years is now at an end.

In the emotionally charged footage, the entertainment personality accused Amponsah of manipulation, deceit, and deliberate neglect, both during their relationship and afterward. “I will ensure that the real story about him is known before his time comes,” she declared, emphasizing that she had held back out of respect but could no longer tolerate the public lies and personal betrayals she claims to have suffered.

Central to Modi’s claims is the matter of their child. She stated that despite being the father, Amponsah has failed to provide adequate financial support for their child’s upbringing. “He has abandoned his responsibilities,” Modi said. “I have had to struggle to care for our baby while he ignores his duties as a father.” This revelation adds a deeper layer to the controversy, transforming it from a personal dispute into a discussion about parental accountability and ethical responsibility in the public eye.

The dispute follows Ofori Amponsah’s previous statements denying any formal marriage to Modi, despite their history together and the fact that they share a daughter. In 2023, Amponsah publicly dismissed claims of marital ties, prompting widespread debate among fans and industry observers. Modi, however, maintains that her contributions to both his personal life and professional career were significant and that she deserves acknowledgment and respect.

Modi also alleges that her loyalty and support during challenging moments in Amponsah’s career were met with deceit, betrayal, and public humiliation. She has indicated that she may release evidence—including private messages, recordings, and other documentation—to substantiate her claims and provide the public with a clearer picture of the situation.

The revelations have reignited national discourse around celebrity accountability, family responsibility, and the ethical obligations of public figures. Entertainment analysts warn that the dispute could escalate further if not addressed carefully, noting that public exposure of private conversations may carry legal implications, including potential defamation or privacy violations.

Fans and industry observers are divided. Some sympathize with Modi, supporting her demand for acknowledgment, financial support, and justice for her child. Others defend Amponsah, arguing that personal disputes should remain private unless legally adjudicated. Nevertheless, the story has sparked conversations about the responsibilities of fathers in Ghanaian society, particularly those in the public eye, and the broader implications of failing to meet those obligations.

As the drama unfolds, Modi’s statements serve as both a personal warning and a broader commentary on accountability, transparency, and ethical conduct in relationships and public life. The video reported by GhanaWeb has captured national attention, highlighting the challenges faced by women navigating public relationships with powerful figures, and raising critical questions about fairness, responsibility, and the moral duties of celebrity fathers.

Let’s Sue On Their Behalf — Barker-Vormawor Calls for Legal Action After MP’s Prison Visit

0

Activist Oliver Barker-Vormawor has reacted strongly to the update shared by the Member of Parliament for Ketu North, Eric Edem Agbana, regarding the ongoing case involving 71 young people from Ehi who were arrested after a clash with police earlier this month.

Barker-Vormawor responded to the MP’s Facebook update with a simple but powerful suggestion: “Let’s sue on their behalf.” His comment has started a new public conversation on whether the detained youth should pursue legal action while investigations continue.

Edem Agbana had earlier released what he described as his “FIRST PUBLIC UPDATE ON THE MASS SWOOP IN EHI ON WEDNESDAY NOVEMBER 12,2025.” In that update, he explained that he had visited the Ho Central Prisons, where the young suspects are currently being held.

According to the MP, “71 compatriots from Ehi are being held on remand for allegedly assaulting a police officer during a clash between the youth and the Police on the evening of Monday November 3 2025.”

He noted that he spent time speaking with the detainees and shared that “they remain in high spirits despite the traumatic experience they have endured.”

However, the most disturbing part of his visit, he said, was discovering that some of those in custody were extremely young. As he put it, “It is heartbreaking to note that some of the inmates are as young as 15 years.”

Agbana assured families and constituents that he would remain committed to ensuring justice for those who are innocent. His message emphasized, “I want to assure the people of Ehi, especially the families of those still in prison custody, that we will do our best to secure justice for those who are innocent.”

He also explained why he had not spoken publicly earlier, saying, “I have held back from making public statements on this matter based on sound advice and direction.”

He promised that updates would come at the right time, noting, “At the appropriate time, we will issue an official statement and present in detail to the people of Ketu North and by extension the good people of Ghana everything that has transpired.”

His message ended with a simple prayer: “May God help us all.”

But shortly after Barker-Vormawor’s call for legal action, Agbana returned to clarify that some circulating interpretations of his post were misleading. Reacting to the activist, he stated firmly: “The reportage was inaccurate. !!”

His comment suggests that some outlets may have presented his update in a way he disagrees with, though he did not provide further details.

The back-and-forth shows growing tension and interest around the Ehi arrests—especially as more activists, lawyers, and political figures begin turning their attention to the case.

Don’t turn anti-LGBTQ Bill into NPP agenda — Dafeamekpor tells Ntim Fordjour

0

The Majority Chief Whip, Rockson-Nelson Dafeamekpor, is urging Assin South MP Rev. John Ntim Fordjour to refrain from portraying the Human Sexual Rights and Family Values Bill—popularly known as the anti-LGBTQ bill—as an NPP-driven crusade, insisting the legislation is a bipartisan national effort, not the property of any single political party.

This comes after Rev. Ntim Fordjour publicly suggested that government was attempting to stall the bill’s return to Parliament’s order paper—claims Mr Dafeamekpor says are unfounded and misleading.

Speaking on Citi Eyewitness News on Friday, November 21, the Majority Chief Whip dismissed Fordjour’s accusations as “propaganda,” stressing that the bill has already been reintroduced by multiple private members — including Fordjour himself — under Parliament’s established procedures.

Dafeamekpor said the House remains fully committed to passing the bill, but its immediate priority is completing work on the national budget, which must take precedence over any private member’s legislation.

“We are interested in passing this bill into law, and we will do so after the budget is passed. With that, we will have enough time to deal with it,” he noted.

He clarified that the reintroduced bill will still require renewed public input because of its similarity to the earlier version, meaning Parliament must again open channels for memoranda and stakeholder submissions.

But his strongest message was directed at Ntim Fordjour.

Dafeamekpor cautioned that making the legislation appear like an NPP agenda is not only inaccurate but risks fracturing the broad parliamentary consensus that has driven the bill from the outset.

“He must speak in a manner that carries everyone along. This is a bipartisan bill. He shouldn’t make it appear as though it is an NPP agenda,” he warned.

With the bill now awaiting post-budget consideration, Dafeamekpor emphasised that maintaining unity and clarity around its status is essential to prevent needless political tension and public misunderstanding.

I’m sorry everyone – The sales boy who used his boss’ money to travel abroad finally speaks from airport

0

In a video recorded at the airport shortly before his departure, Agyapong pleaded with his boss and others whose funds he diverted to support his travel plans.

According to him, his actions were deliberate. He explained that he intentionally used the money entrusted to him because he believed that if he had openly requested support for his travel ambitions, none of them would have offered help.

Late Samuel Aboagye’s Wife vindicated from false accusations

0

The family of the late Samuel Aboagye has filed a lawsuit against his widow, Abigail Salami, accusing her of refusing to allow a DNA test for their daughter. The case is before the Obuasi District Court.

Samuel Aboagye, a former deputy director at Ghana’s National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and an NDC parliamentary candidate for Obuasi East, died on August 6, 2025, when a Ghana Air Force Z9 helicopter crashed near Obuasi.

His extended family argues that the DNA test is essential to clarify paternity, especially amid inheritance and estate issues. They claim that although DNA samples were requested after the crash to help identify victims, Abigail has not complied with their repeated calls to submit their three-year-old daughter for testing.

The recent DNA test involving the widow of the late Samuel Aboagye, Abigail Salami, has returned positive, confirming her claim regarding her child. The result is seen as a major legal victory for Abigail, who has been at the center of a family dispute concerning paternity and inheritance issues.

Samuel Aboagye, a former deputy director at the National Disaster Management Organisation (NADMO) and an NDC parliamentary candidate, died in a helicopter crash on August 6, 2025. Following his death, his extended family questioned the paternity of his three-year-old daughter and requested a DNA test to clarify matters.

Abigail Salami had previously resisted the family’s calls for testing, prompting a legal battle in the Obuasi District Court. The positive DNA result now gives her the legal and moral grounds to defend herself against claims from the late Aboagye’s relatives.

Amasaman Court hands mason 48-month sentence for cattle theft

0

The Amasaman Circuit Court has sentenced a 46-year-old mason, Akwasi Obeng, to 48 months’ imprisonment with hard labour for stealing 17 cattle valued at GH¢228,000.

Obeng, who pleaded guilty, told the court he stole the animals—part of the 21 cattle entrusted to his care—because his employer had failed to pay an agreed monthly salary of GH¢700. He said hardship and the responsibility of caring for his two children pushed him into committing the offence.

Presiding judge Mrs Akosua Anokyewaa Adjepong imposed a fine of 500 penalty units, equivalent to GH¢6,000. By default, Obeng will serve an additional 12 months in prison.

The court held that Obeng had no reasonable defence but considered his plea for leniency, the recovery of all the stolen cattle, and the fact that he was a first-time offender.

It also noted the increasing prevalence of cattle theft in the area and stressed that the sentence should act as a deterrent.

Police Chief Inspector Salifu Nashiru told the court that the complainant, Evans Bortsie, a herdsman at Harekreshena and resident of Medie, hired Obeng as a cattle caretaker in August 2025. On October 30, Obeng reportedly led 21 cattle out to graze but failed to return with them.

A report was lodged with the Adjen Kotoku Police, and the complainant later recovered four of the cattle. Investigations revealed that Obeng had sold the remaining 17 to a buyer for GH¢96,000, receiving an initial GH¢30,000 and expecting the balance on November 12.

The buyer, upon learning the animals were stolen, alerted the police and arranged for Obeng to collect the outstanding payment. He was arrested when he arrived.

Obeng admitted the offence in his caution statement, telling police he had used part of the proceeds to rent an apartment. He was subsequently charged and prosecuted.

Able Seaman Class 2, Precious Sarah Akutor, a 23-year-old naval officer, has conquered a challenge by swimming 3.1 kilometres across open waters to support a cause close to her heart.

Akutor undertook the swimming challenge to raise funds for an initiative aimed at empowering women, with a specific focus on building a support centre for children with special needs.

She said the idea was inspired by seeing the emotional and practical challenges faced by a colleague raising a child with special needs.

The Wave of Hope swimming challenge was officially launched on Monday, November 17, 2025. Four days later, on November 21, Akutor completed a 3.1-kilometre open-sea swim from Busa to Abuka Islands in the Western Region, finishing the journey in 61 minutes.

Speaking to Channel One News’ Western Bureau Chief, Akwasi Agyei Annim, after the event, Akutor said this marked the start of a bigger mission.

According to her, the goal is to build a support centre dedicated to children of Naval personnel with special needs and to create a space that provides care, relief, and assistance for affected families.

She appealed to the public to get involved and help her push the project forward.

“All I need from you is support the team for the children to smile because they need us and we need them too,” she said.

Is Former Finance Minister Sick or Avoiding Justice?

Parliament Debates: Is Former Finance Minister Sick or Avoiding Justice?

News Hub Creator36min

The Parliament in Ghana is talking about former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta. Some people said he might be going abroad for medical treatment to avoid coming back to Ghana because of corruption questions. But the Majority in Parliament says this is not true.

The Majority Leader said that everyone could see that Mr. Ofori-Atta was not healthy while he was Finance Minister. He worked hard and did his job even though he was sick. Now, some people say he is leaving the country because of illness, but the Majority says this is not fair. They believe he was sick before and still managed his work. They think the new claims about his health are only being discussed because he has to answer questions about his work as Finance Minister.

The issue came up again when the Minister for Local Government asked about Mr. Ofori-Atta’s return. He reminded Parliament that Mr. Ofori-Atta had promised to be back in the country by a certain date. He wondered why he had not returned like other former ministers who usually stay in the country after leaving office.

In reply, a Member of Parliament said that Mr. Ofori-Atta had informed the Office of the Special Prosecutor about his health and his travel plans. He had surgery and needed more time to recover. He gave updates to the authorities about his health and when he would return.

The MP asked other members to show kindness and understanding. He said everyone could face serious illness at some point, and it is not easy to share private medical details. He stressed that Mr. Ofori-Atta has been open about his medical condition. He also said that the situation should not be used for political arguments. He reminded everyone that anyone could face illness or health challenges, and people should be fair and compassionate.

The discussion in Parliament shows a mix of concern for health and the need for accountability. Many people are watching to see when the former minister will return and answer questions about his time as Finance Minister.
