Daddy Lumba: Tribute by Napoleon Ato Kittoe, a journalist

0

He was lionized, envied, romanticized, even worshipped.

He was one of the gifts for a society hungry for true heroes.

People paid good money to watch his concerts.

He occupied one of the glittering pedestals in the Ghanaian music industry.

In all of its dimensions, he was a winner in the industry. I am talking about the magnetic Daddy Lumba.

One sobering reality must be injected here. Daddy Lumba was humble, showed deference, and mingled.

Still, all was not sweetness and light in the journey of the Lumba Brothers that had Ernest Nana Acheampong as the other composer.

After a few hit albums they split and each went solo. When they splitted the klieg lighting remained on them. It attracted multiple-digit incomes and more outgoes for the two.

In a peripatetic profession with the privilege of meeting a lot of people, I rue the fact that the opportunity did not present itself to meet with two key Ghanaian personalities. These were former UN Secretary General, Kofi Annan and top musician, Charles Kwadwo Fosu, popularly called “Daddy Lumba.”

The death on July 26, 2025, of the latter sent cold shivers down my spine, and this re-echoed the condition rumoured to have caused the death of the musician – the alleged spine problem. Indeed, there is a video of him asserting that it was his chronic headache.

However, we are in a poor position to pronounce the actual cause of death as official statement stops short of that.

In the salutation of tributes to Daddy Lumba, reference ought to be made to his maiden song. It stood in the name of the “Lumba Brothers.” The “Ye ya ka akwantuom” clip was a bang.

In the Queen’s language, the title of the song means “Necessity has trapped us in foreign land.” It turned the fans on because the entire genre did not fall in the familiar zone.

Generally, Lumba songs are replete with local proverbs which also appeals to people in the hinterlands of Ghana. The acoustics in instrumentals such as bass guitar, the piano and disco drums are unique.

These, coupled with the hummed voice of Daddy Lumba, catapulted his brand of highlife music to dizzying heights.

The progressive albums also rocked his audiences. Daddy Lumba’s songs were always a hit and vibrated social occasions and other ceremonies – Funerals, parties, and commercial centres.

Also on top of his game, occasionally Nana Acheampong came across with his stirring repertoires.

A variant of showmanship which depicted the duo as “burgers,” they were sensational. The term referred to Ghanaian men who were domiciled in Germany, particularly the city of Hamburg.

With their jelly curled hairs, light-skins, and palazzos, they often arrived back in Ghana with a lot of pomp. Daddy Lumba appears to have pioneered Ghanaian musical clips that had the star performer surrounded with sexy dancers who were backing vocalists as well.

This style has been replicated by some local musicians. I am not delving into their implications on local culture.

The musician schooled at Juaben Asante, next to Asante Effiduase where I also started my secondary school. I therefore know the roots of his niche on stage. He depicted the fashion-craze of the male Ashanti schoolboy.

Controversies failed to dim the light of Daddy Lumba.

His celebrity status overshadowed all machinations and he was ever so tall in the music field. His death provoked an outpouring of grief and celebrations of his life. The dominant soundtracks he unleashed will echo in many hearts forever.

Ghana’s surviving former Heads of State and the current President have described Daddy Lumba as a cultural force and icon.

The mechanics of Daddy Lumba’s music career ought to be learned. Ofori Amponsah and the late Dada KD come close to his explosive romantic, social commentary type of music. These said, Daddy Lumba’s unexpected death caps a worrying trend, both in Ghana and abroad.

To wit, there is a nagging question, ” Why do popular, charismatic performers leave the stage so soon?” In Ghana, musicians like Ebony Reigns and Terrybonchaka died in their primes, just as the acting field took their blows from Suzie Williams, Kwame Owusu Ansah, Bishop Bernard Nyarko, you name it.

In sports, we can mention flair-abundant footballers who entertained the local scene in the late 1980s and 1990s such as Robert Ebo Eshun, Shamo Quaye, Joe Debrah, and Michael Osei.

In the police service, memories are still fresh for public relations practitioner, Angwubutoge Awuni and martial arts trainer and performer nicknamed as “Kweku Ninja.” Oh why? Why are the green foliages dropping off their stalks?

Throwing the searchlight afield, there was a Bob Marley who died at 36, a Whitney Houston who died at 48, a Marvin Gaye who died at 44 etc. Perhaps, governments need to establish special halls of fame not for awards but for the creation of safety valves through monitoring, counseling, and other forms of assistance to celebrities to improve their personal safety.

Though they may not be poor, we need to take interest in the safety of beloved performers for any mishap that befalls them represents pains in millions of people. In stating this, I am not downplaying their own sense of awareness and acuity. We love them so we want to complement them, if they need it.

In his lifetime, the Daddy Lumba fever hit all corners of the globe. Renowned Ghanaian filmmaker, Kow Ansah includes Daddy Lumba’s portrait among global greats in his Bisa Aberwa Museum at Nkontompo, Sekondi in the Western region of Ghana.

The personality behind this monument speaks volumes of meticulous choices to this hall of fame. Daddy Lumba is on the line up that includes King Bruce, E.T Mensah of Ramblers fame, and Jamaica’s Bob Marley.

In death, the fever-pitchiness of mourners in Germany, Canada, United Kingdom, United States, Italy, Holland and Ghana, would highlight the most, the luster of his public image as a musician.

Somebody suggests all 16 regions in Ghana must hold vigils owing to the demerits of a centralized funeral.

This opinion fears that a concentration of mourners at one spot could be undermined by rowdyism. This won’t be what the Asante Nsuta-born music hero would prefer.

The Ghanaian presidency has said, the man would be enriched with a state funeral. Oh, what a wow to an understatement. Daddy Lumba. Aben wo heaven.

Fare thee well, onua papabi.

The new Deputy Ministers are expected to assist in policy formulation and implementation while supporting the delivery of public services across their respective sectors.

Open Letter: When Losing is also Leadership — A Plea to Her Ladyship The Chief Justice of Ghana

0

Her Ladyship Justice Gertrude

Araba Esaaba Torkornoo, Chief

Justice of the Republic of Ghana

Accra

Your Ladyship,

There are moments in a jurist’s life when the highest service to the law is not found in prevailing—but in the dignity with which one accepts the inevitable. It is in these quiet, painful, and defining moments that legacies are etched—not by victory, but by vision.

Madam Chief Justice, I write to you not in condemnation, nor in flattery, but in solemn reflection. I think, especially, of the toll this difficult period must have taken on your family—your children and your husband, Mr. Torkornoo. As a fellow citizen of this Republic, please permit me to write from a place of deep respect for both your person and the high office you occupy.

Ghana watches today as Your Ladyship stands at the centre of a constitutional crisis—one that is no longer simply a legal matter but a national reckoning. It is no longer about the courts; it is about confidence in the judiciary. It is no longer about law, but about legacy.

True, every citizen has the right to seek redress, and every jurist must assert that right with courage. But with the greatest respect, I submit that there comes a time in every distinguished career when the ultimate act of leadership is not to fight, but to let go. Perhaps, Your Ladyship, that time is now.

I recall watching you take your oath of office—an oath to uphold the dignity and independence of Ghana’s judiciary. That same oath calls again—not in robes this time, but in sacrifice. In stepping aside. In showing strength through restraint.

You rightly stated at your recent press engagement that you have served the law for 38 years: as a lawyer, as a judge for 21 years, and now as Chief Justice. You affirmed your duty to speak out for justice in Ghana. Yet I fear the current legal campaign may have crossed the threshold of principle into the terrain of diminishing returns.

When a judge—let alone a Chief Justice—becomes the subject of sustained public controversy and repeated judicial defeat, the matter ceases to be personal. It becomes institutional. It becomes a burden on the very judiciary it seeks to defend.

Your Ladyship, in this moment, you are no longer merely a litigant. You are the living symbol of Ghana’s judicial conscience. And the judge’s highest duty is not to win battles—but to preserve peace.

Many in society are growing weary, not just of the litigation, but of what it means for the image of the courts. From the High Court to the Supreme Court, and now even to ECOWAS, your legal team persists, yet each step further burdens public confidence in the judiciary.

In our recent history, we witnessed a different path. In 2017, Mrs. Charlotte Osei, though not a judge, held a position with similar gravitas. When faced with impeachment, she bowed out gracefully despite fierce public criticism. Her poise and political temperament allowed her to exit with dignity. And today, time has vindicated her.

Your Ladyship, the question is no longer whether you can win—but whether the fight still serves the Republic. Lady Hale of the UK Supreme Court once said: “The law is not a weapon for personal vindication; it is a structure for societal coherence.” Ghana now needs that coherence more than ever. And sometimes, coherence begins with a graceful retreat.

Resignation is not surrender. It is the final act of statesmanship. It is choosing legacy over litigation, honour over ego, and country over self. It is a moral summit few ever reach—but one now within your grasp.

As Lord Mansfield once told a retiring jurist: “You have done enough. Let history speak the rest.”

Your Ladyship, let Ghana speak the rest. Let your legacy not be one of resistance, but of wisdom. Of restraint. Of a dignified departure that protects the very office you have long honoured.

On this note, I respectfully urge the Attorney General and Minister for Justice to help facilitate a path of dignified resolution. For the sake of the judiciary. For the sake of Ghana.

May history remember you—not for the battles fought, but for the wisdom to know when to let go.

With the utmost respect, Your ladyship, I remain

 Yours very truly,

Seth Kwame Awuku, LL.B., LL.M. (Candidate in Legislative Drafting)

The Embassy of the Kingdom of Morocco in Ghana marked the 26th anniversary of His Majesty King Mohammed VI’s ascension to the Throne with a grand celebration in Accra. The occasion brought together a distinguished audience, including several Ghanaian dignitaries, members of the diplomatic corps accredited to Ghana, as well as leading figures from political, economic, academic, and media circles, alongside members of the Moroccan community residing in Ghana.

In her remarks, Her Excellency Ambassador Imane Ouaadil paid tribute to the transformational leadership of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, describing his reign as “foresighted and forward-looking.” She emphasized how the Kingdom has been profoundly reshaped over the past 26 years through wide-ranging structural reforms across economic, social, cultural, institutional, and sporting spheres.

“Under His Majesty’s leadership, Morocco has become an emerging, modern, and prosperous nation,” she said, highlighting the impact of reform initiatives that have touched all sectors and extended across the entire national territory—from Tangier to Lagouira.

Ambassador Ouaadil further underscored Morocco’s deepening commitment to African solidarity and regional integration, noting the Kingdom’s active engagement in the continent since its return to the African Union in 2017. She referenced landmark initiatives such as the Royal Atlantic Initiative, designed to provide landlocked Sahel nations with Atlantic Ocean access, and the African Atlantic States Process, as well as the transformative African Atlantic Gas Pipeline project.

Turning to bilateral relations, the Ambassador praised the “golden era” of Morocco-Ghana cooperation, stating:

> “Morocco-Ghana bilateral relations have yielded mutual benefits and brought our two countries even closer on multiple fronts. Since January 7th, 2025, our partnership has reached new strategic heights.”

She highlighted the successful high-level visit of Ghana’s Foreign Affairs Minister, Hon. Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, to Morocco in June 2025, which culminated in the announcement of a visa waiver agreement for Ghanaian nationals. Since the waiver’s implementation on June 6th, over 1,300 free electronic entry permits have been issued—nearly matching the 1,500 visas granted throughout the entire year of 2024.

Additionally, Ambassador Ouaadil referenced Morocco’s recent donation of 2,000 tons of fertilizer to Ghana, underscoring the Kingdom’s commitment to strengthening agricultural cooperation and food security on the continent.

She also expressed Morocco’s appreciation for Ghana’s support of the Autonomy Plan for the Moroccan Sahara, describing it as the “only realistic and sustainable basis” for a mutually agreed resolution under the exclusive framework of the United Nations.

In a message delivered on behalf of His Excellency President John Dramani Mahama, Ghana’s Minister of Sports and Recreation, Hon. Kofi Adams, reaffirmed Ghana’s strong and enduring relationship with Morocco. He lauded the remarkable progress made in advancing the partnership over the past 26 years and commended Morocco as a “reliable and trusted partner.”

The evening concluded with cultural performances and a reception, symbolizing the friendship and shared vision between Morocco and Ghana for a stable, connected, and prosperous Atlantic region

8 “Nice” Behaviors That Actually Signal Someone Doesn’t Respect You

0

One of the most important things a person can learn to do is to read between the lines of others’ words and behaviors. This is because a lot of the people they’ll meet throughout their life will hide their true intentions behind facades of benevolence.

The behaviors listed below may seem friendly enough on the surface, or to those who choose not to dig too deeply into them, but be warned: they tell you with no degree of uncertainty that the person acting this way doesn’t respect you much at all.

Western Regional House of Chiefs pays courtesy visit on Mahama

0

By Iddi Yire

Accra, July 31, GNA – Nana Kobina Nketsia V, President, Western Regional House of Chiefs and Omanhene of Assikado Traditional Area, on Wednesday, July 30, led the House to pay a courtesy visit on President John Dramani Mahama at the Presidency in Accra.

The Delegation was at the Presidency to congratulate the President on his decisive reflection victory in Ghana’s December 7, 2024, general election.

President Mahama in his remarks the Western Region was often called the natural resource basket of Ghana and had been the engine of the nation’s economic progress for generations.

He said from the early days of cocoa production and timber exports to the contemporary era of gold mining, oil and gas exploitation, rubber plantations, bauxites, coconut cultivation, the Region had given so much to Ghana’s development.

He said however, beyond its economic significance, the Western Region was home to a proud and rich cultural heritage.

The President said from Wassa and Sefwi, through Aowin and Nzema and the Hanta traditional areas, the Region had produced gallant leaders, freedom fighters and politicians whose contributions were etched in the pages of our history.

“And of course, we all remember our first president, Dr Kwame Nkrumah of blessed memory, who is a proud son of Ghana and a proud son of the Western Region,” he said.

The President noted that the Western Region holds immense potential to lead Ghana into a new era of industrialization, economic diversification and job creation, but the Government must address long-standing development gaps.

He said during his visit to the Region, the chiefs drew his attention to many of these issues, and I assure you that they remain at the forefront of their development agenda.

President Mahama said under the Government’s Big Push project, which intends to invest $10 billion over five years into infrastructure development, they would prioritize many road projects in the Western Region, including the dualization of the Takoradi-Agona-Nkwanta-Elubu Highway to enhance trade and transport, especially given the importance of that corridor for the mining, petroleum, agriculture and border commerce.

He said feeder roads in cocoa-growing areas and mining areas such as Wassa-Kropong, Enchi, Prestea, Sefwi—Wiaso, and Ayinase would all be upgraded to ease produce transportation and improve rural access.

The President said the Sino-Hydro interchange projects in Takoradi would also be continued.

“Indeed, we’ve started talks with the Chinese Government about continuing and completing the Sino-Hydro bridges,” he said.

President Mahama said the rehabilitation of the Western Railway line from Takoradi rade to Huni Valley, Awaso, Dunkwa, and ultimately to Nyinahin and Kumasi would receive attention.

He reiterated that the rail system was vital for the mining sector, especially for the hauling of bauxite and manganese and other bulk cargoes.

This, the President said would reduce road congestion and reduce the spoilage of our roads caused by the heavy trucks that convey the bauxite and manganese ores.

He said they were promoting and pushing the establishment of a manganese refinery in the Western Region.

“This will help us add value to the raw manganese that we currently export,” he said.

“We also are designing and planning an alumina refinery in the Western Region to refine the bauxite that we are mining in Awaso and other places.”

The President said the expansion of the Takoradi Port would continue under a Publix Private Partnership (PPP) arrangement and that the aim was to expand to establish a dedicated oil and gas services hub in Takoradi and dry bulk and container terminals to boost exports and reduce ship waiting times.

On his part, Nana Kobina Nketsia on behalf of the Western Regional House of Chiefs congratulated President Mahama on his return to the Presidency.

He lauded President Mahama for his exemplary leadership and humility.

He further hailed the Mahama administration for its people-centred programmes, such as the recent appreciation of the Ghana Cedi as evidence of sound economic management.

“For once, we see that our country is going through some transformation,” Nana Kobina Nketiah said.

VRA/NEDCo staff withdrawal may disrupt power – Energy Ministry

0

The Ministry of Energy and Green Transition has warned of potential power supply disruptions in Tamale and surrounding areas following the withdrawal of services by staff of the Volta River Authority (VRA) and the Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo).

This development stems from a joint resolution by the leadership of the VRA/NEDCo Senior Staff Association and the Division Union after an emergency meeting held on Thursday, July 31, 2025. The action was prompted by violent attacks on several staff members the previous day, July 30.

According to reports, workers driving official vehicles were stopped, dragged out, assaulted with clubs and sticks, and had their vehicles seized and taken to the Gukpena Palace.

Describing the attack as “barbaric,” the staff unions cited a history of violent incidents against VRA/NEDCo personnel in the area. Previous cases mentioned include attacks at Lamakara in 2016, Dohinayilli in 2017, Vittin in 2019, and vandalism of company offices in 2015.

In response, the Ministry has appealed for calm and pledged swift action to resolve the situation. Richmond Rockson, Head of Communications at the Ministry, speaking on behalf of the sector minister, acknowledged the seriousness of the issue.

“The Ministry has taken notice of these reports. Hon. John Abdulai Jinapor, the Minister for Energy and Green Transition, is currently on short leave. In his absence, the Minister of Finance is overseeing the Ministry’s operations and will be briefed on this matter.

“Hon. Jinapor resumes on Monday, August 4, and will take immediate steps to address and resolve the impasse,” Mr. Rockson said.

He warned that the service withdrawal could affect electricity delivery and urged residents to support utility workers.

“On behalf of my Minister, I urge residents of Tamale and surrounding communities to cooperate with VRA/NEDCo staff as they go about their duties. Any further hostilities will only deepen the crisis and risk prolonged power disruptions,” he added.

The Ministry reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the safety of utility staff while working to restore full services as quickly as possible.

Minority walks out of Parliament again

Minority Leader of Parliament, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin Minority Leader of Parliament, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin

The Minority Caucus of Ghana’s Parliament staged a dramatic walkout midway through the Deputy Finance Minister’s closing remarks following the scheduled debate on the Mid-Year Budget Review.

The action by the opposition New Patriotic Party Caucus followed the conclusion of arguments from both the Majority and Minority sides on the government’s mid-year budget review, presented by the Minister for Finance, Dr. Cassiel Ato-Forson, on Thursday, July 24, 2025.

Deputy Minister for Finance, Thomas Nyarko Ampem, was invited to deliver his final comments on behalf of the Finance Minister during proceedings on Thursday, July 31.

However, during his remarks, he addressed what he described as “misrepresentations” raised by the Minority faction, a move that drew sharp criticism.

Minority MPs argued that the Deputy Minister had exceeded his remit by responding directly to their arguments, which they claimed did not meet parliamentary conditions.

According to the Minority, it was wrong for the Deputy Minister to seek to name and rebut comments made by some of their members when those members would not have the opportunity to respond to him.

In contrast, the Second Deputy Speaker of Parliament, Bernard Ahiafor, insisted the rules had been followed.

“We don’t give conditions upon which the minister should make his concluding comments. We cannot prevent the minister from making concluding comments,” he said.

The Minority Caucus, led by Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, viewed the Deputy Minister’s remarks as a breach of procedural fairness and the allowances given to the Minority.

In protest, they exited the chamber, while members of the Majority bench responded with chants of “Away!” as they departed.

Addressing the media following the walkout, the Minority accused the Majority of abusing their numbers and the majoritarian system, while further accusing the Second Deputy Speaker of being complicit.

The Minority Caucus last week walked out of Parliament before the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review presentation by Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson.

The walkout by the Caucus was in protest of alleged government inaction on electoral violence during the July 13 Ablekuma North rerun, which they claimed involved voter intimidation and state security misuse.

Despite Speaker Alban Bagbin’s promise of a future debate on the subject which the Minority had sought to address on the floor, the Caucus, in black attire, exited the Chamber.

Mahama’s ‘Reset Agenda’ anchored on digital transformation

0

Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah

Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah has highlighted the central role of digital transformation in President John Dramani Mahama’s vision for Ghana’s development.

Speaking at the maiden MOBEX Africa Partnership Day on July 31, 2025, in Accra, under the theme “Powering Innovations Through Partnerships,” he described the Reset Agenda as a bold and forward-looking strategy that places technology and innovation at the heart of inclusive national development.

“President Mahama’s Reset Agenda envisions a Ghana where technology powers inclusive growth through strategic partnerships. Where our institutions are strengthened, and where our digital future is shaped and owned by Ghanaians,” Julius Debrah said.

He credited Mahama’s previous administration with laying the groundwork through public-private initiatives that expanded e-Government infrastructure, operationalised the National Data Centre, and improved rural connectivity.

Now, he said, that legacy is being expanded with new initiatives like the 1 Million Coders programme, aimed at equipping Ghanaians with critical digital skills in areas such as AI, cybersecurity, and data analytics.

“Implemented across all 261 districts, the programme is deliberately inclusive. Women, persons with disabilities, and rural youth will not be left behind,” he noted.

Julius Debrah also revealed that a recent AI workshop for Ministers of State was held in Adukrom, as part of efforts to build digital leadership capacity within government.

The Reset Agenda includes ambitious goals; complete the Eastern Corridor Fibre Optic Project by 2027; launch a National Digital Development Council by 2026; and train 500,000 youth and women in emerging technologies by 2028.

These efforts are expected to create over 200,000 digital jobs and generate more than $2 billion in annual digital exports.

“We are building a Ghana that is digitally sovereign, economically empowered, and globally competitive. Africa’s digital future will not be outsourced, it will be shaped by Africans, for Africans,” he explained.

Julius Debrah urged stakeholders to transform MOBEX Africa into a permanent, pan-African engine for digital collaboration, one that fosters sustained partnerships, drives innovation, and accelerates inclusive digital growth across the continent.

Agyemang Badu cites managerial discrepancies as reason for Great Olympics exit

Agyemang Badu is a former player of the Black Stars Agyemang Badu is a former player of the Black Stars

Former Black Stars midfielder, Emmanuel Agyemang Badu, has revealed that managerial issues influenced his decision to leave Accra Great Olympics Football Club.

Speaking on Just Being Us with MzGee, Badu opened up about his exit from the club and reflected on his journey from obscurity in Seikwa, a town in the Bono Ahafo Region, to the global stage with the Black Stars.

“It was just a misunderstanding between me and one of the management members. At this stage in my career, I don’t need to be involved in such things. It would only bring distractions. I needed to be the bigger person and leave so they can have peace at the club,” Badu explained.

Badu, a key member of Ghana’s historic U-20 squad that won the 2009 FIFA World Cup in Egypt, famously scored the winning penalty in the final against Brazil.

Recalling the team’s mindset before the tournament, he shared a humorous warning he gave to his teammates:

“Seikwa boy, nothing dey go on. You see all of you play professional. If you go out there and play safe football and we come back to Ghana, and I need to go to Seikwa, the way I will beat you at the airport.”

Badu also clarified the circumstances surrounding his contract at the time of the tournament:

“So when we came back, my contract had already expired with Kotoko. When I was moving from Ghana officially, it was Berlin FC that sold me.”

Now retired from international football, Badu praised former Black Stars midfielder Michael Essien as a key inspiration in his career, which saw him represent Ghana at multiple Africa Cup of Nations tournaments and feature for clubs in Italy, Turkey, and China.

Volta Chiefs demand removal of Asikuma and Juapong checkpoints

0

The Volta Regional House of Chiefs has called for the immediate removal of the Ghana Immigration Service inland checkpoints at Asikuma on the Ho-Accra road, citing harassment by officers.

The President of the Volta Regional House of Chiefs, Togbe Tepre Hodo IV, during a visit to the Jubilee House, also called for the police barrier at Juapong on the same road to be removed.

The chiefs accused some immigration officers of behaving rudely and sometimes holding travelers against their will.

“Your excellency, the Asikuma on Sogakope inland immigration post and the Juapong joint military and police barracks continue to be of concern to us as a region. Indeed, it is very humiliating when you get to this inland immigration post and you are asked to get down from your bus, walk a certain distance before you join your bus again to continue your journey to wherever you are going.

“…We will be extremely grateful if you tackle this problem and solve it once and for all.”

President John Dramani Mahama while addressing the issue said the government will immediately review the concerns to protect the rights of travelers while enhancing security along these roads.

Adom-Otchere granted bail, fails to meet conditions

0

Former Board Chairman of the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL), Paul Adom-Otchere, remains in custody after failing to meet bail conditions set by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), despite being formally granted bail.

Mr. Adom-Otchere, along with two others—Otchere Kwame Baffour Awuah, Group Executive for Commercial Services at GACL, and Albert Adjetey Adjei-Laryea, CEO of Devnest Systems—was charged by the OSP in connection with an ongoing investigation into a revenue assurance contract at the GACL.

The investigation focuses on alleged procurement breaches involving the award of a sole-sourced contract to a private firm reportedly owned by the proprietor of Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML). The OSP is probing whether the contract was awarded without proper Board approval and in violation of procurement procedures.

While bail was granted to Mr. Adom-Otchere, he has so far been unable to fulfill a key requirement—presenting two landed properties registered in his name. He has reportedly told the OSP that he does not own any such property in Ghana, leaving him in detention until alternative arrangements are made or the bail conditions are satisfied.

The two other accused individuals are cooperating with the investigation, though their detention status has not been officially disclosed.

The case has sparked considerable public interest, given Mr. Adom-Otchere’s former role at GACL and his prominent media presence. The OSP says its investigations are ongoing.

According to a post shared by the OSP on social media, the three were questioned over possible procurement breaches in the revenue assurance contract between GACL and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML).

“Mr Adom-Otchere is under investigation in connection with a revenue assurance contract between the Ghana Airports Company Limited (GACL) and a private firm owned by the proprietor of Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Ltd (SML). Technology remains crucial for inclusive growth in Ghana and Africa

0

Ghana's Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah Ghana’s Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah

The Chief of Staff Julius Debrah has called for renewed efforts to drive digital transformation across Ghana and the African continent, describing technology as essential for economic development and inclusive growth.

He made the call while delivering the keynote address at the inaugural MOBEX Africa Partnership Day, held in Accra on July 31, 2025.

The event, themed “Powering Innovations Through Partnerships,” brought together government officials, private sector leaders, development partners, startups, and civil society organisations.

Debrah stressed that digital technology is no longer a luxury but a critical tool for national development. He urged stakeholders to invest in innovation, digital infrastructure, and skills development to prepare Africa’s youth for the digital economy.

“Digital technology is a lifeline for development. The future belongs to nations that empower their people through innovation,” he said.

The Chief Executive Officer of MOBEX Africa, George Spencer Quaye, on his part underscored the importance of partnerships in building Africa’s digital future.

He noted that Africa is at a critical turning point and that collaboration between government, businesses, and innovators is necessary to overcome challenges such as infrastructure deficits, regulatory gaps, and digital exclusion.

“At the heart of Mobex Africa’s mission is the belief that no single entity can transform the continent alone. It is through partnerships that these efforts are amplified and sustained,” Quaye said.

“Governments may create enabling policies, enterprises may develop solutions, and innovators may bring ideas to life – but it is through partnerships that these efforts are amplified and sustained,” he added.

Quaye further argued that the continent is at a critical inflection point that requires coordinated, cross-sector solutions.

The event also showcased initiatives under the MOBEX Africa platform, including technology expos, digital skills programs, innovation challenges, and investment opportunities aimed at promoting digital sovereignty and competitiveness.

Quaye expressed appreciation to President John Dramani Mahama for his long-standing support of MOBEX Africa, noting that he had encouraged the platform in 2016 to lead the charge for digital transformation across the continent.

Act on JoyNews Journalist assault or be embarrassed

0

The President of the Ghana Journalists Association (GJA), Albert Kwabena Dwumfour, has issued a strong warning to the Chief of Army Staff, demanding swift action against soldiers implicated in the recent assault of a JoyNews reporter.

Speaking at a press briefing on Thursday, July 31, the GJA President cautioned that the military’s credibility was on the line and threatened public exposure of the individuals involved if immediate steps were not taken to identify and sanction them.

“The military should understand that failure on their part to expose and sanction the perpetrators of this crime will have damning consequences, and we will embarrass them. If the military fails to expose the members, the  Chief of Army Staff, we are not just serving notice. We are not threatened.

“We have done our work and we are prepared. If you fail to do so, we shall embarrass you. We will come out boldly and expose your men,” Dwumfour stated.

The warning follows disturbing revelations by JoyNews journalist Carlos Carlony, who reported that he was assaulted and forcefully detained by National Security operatives while covering a demolition exercise at a warehouse reportedly owned by businessman Daniel McKorley, popularly known as McDan.

According to Carlony, the military personnel questioned why he and his team were filming the event. Despite identifying themselves as journalists, one officer allegedly attacked him from behind just as he was preparing to go live on air.

The Ghana Armed Forces (GAF) has since confirmed the commencement of an internal investigation into what it described as the “inappropriate conduct” of its personnel during the incident.

GJA threatens media blackout on Police over attacks on Journalists

GJA condemns attack on JoyNews journalist; demands swift punishment

0

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has strongly condemned the attack and unlawful detention of JoyNews journalist Carlos Calony and his cameraman by military-uniformed National Security operatives.

Speaking during a press conference today, July 31, GJA President Albert Dwumfour voiced deep concern over the incident, which occurred whilst the journalist was covering the recent demolition of a warehouse in Accra, owned by businessman Daniel McKorley (McDan).

“The GJA is deeply troubled by the attack and unlawful detention by National Security operatives on JoyNews journalist Carlos Calony and his cameraman, who were covering the recent demolishing of the McDan warehouse in Accra, owned by businessman Daniel McKorley,” Mr. Dwumfour stated.

He characterised the incident as a blatant violation of media rights:

“In a blatant show of disregard for media rights, the journalist was obstructed, hit at the neck, arrested, harassed and detained while attempting to gather facts and report to the public.”

According to the GJA, the detention lacked any legal justification:

“This arrest and detention were not based on any justifiable legal grounds. Rather, they appeared to be an attempt to suppress information and silence scrutiny of the demolition exercise.”

Describing the incident as censorship by force, he demanded accountability:

“This is censorship through force. They must be condemned in the strongest terms. We demand that the Ghana Police Service and National Security provide a public explanation for the arrest and detention of Carlos Calony and his cameraman.”

He also called for transparency about any investigation, saying, “Additionally, we request the immediate release of any findings or internal reviews conducted regarding the uniformed officers involved.”

Reaffirming the media’s right to operate freely, Mr. Dwumfour asserted:

“The media must be allowed to report freely on public matters without fear of repression. We are public-interest media, and we must stress that. We should be allowed to do our duty without fear or favour.”

Background

Armed military officers on Wednesday, July 30, attacked JoyNews reporter Carlos Calony, his cameraman and an eyewitness while the journalist was covering a demolition exercise at Spintex in Accra.

The soldiers further damaged the equipment of the journalist, leaving his camera in ruins and the victims with injuries.

Mr Calony was later whisked away in a military vehicle, and his phones were seized as he was subjected to intense interrogation at Blue Gate, a facility by National Security where daily operations are carried out.

He was only released after the intervention by the Minister for the Interior, with the government condemning the action of the soldiers.

Scholarships Secretariat defends limiting foreign scholarships to local programs

0

Alex Kwaku Asafo-Agyei has justify provision in bill restricting foreign scholarships Alex Kwaku Asafo-Agyei has justify provision in bill restricting foreign scholarships

The Registrar of the Ghana Scholarships Secretariat, Alex Kwaku Asafo-Agyei, has justified a key provision in the proposed Scholarships Authority Bill, which restricts the award of foreign scholarships to academic programmes that are already available in Ghana.

Speaking at the official launch of the 2025 Local Tertiary Scholarships Programme in Accra on Wednesday, July 30, Asafo-Agyei said the clause is intended to strengthen local institutions and reduce the country’s heavy reliance on foreign training.

According to him, the tendency for students to pursue studies abroad under the excuse of inadequate facilities at home contributes to a cycle of underdevelopment.

“We usually want to travel out for education under the guise of unavailable equipment locally for better resources abroad. But if we don’t empower our local institutions, how will they raise revenue to build their capacity?” he asked.

He warned that failing to invest in local academic infrastructure only perpetuates a vicious cycle where institutions remain underfunded and under-equipped.

“There must be an end to this trend. That is why we took the decision that if a course is available locally, then students must pursue it here,” he said.

He further disclosed that Ghana currently owes the UK approximately £40 million in scholarship-related expenses, an amount he said could have been invested in domestic universities to boost capacity and infrastructure.

“Imagine if this debt was owed to local institutions. When we pay, they generate revenue, and that enables them to expand infrastructure and acquire the very equipment we claim they lack,” Asafo-Agyei noted.

The Scholarships Authority Bill is expected to provide a comprehensive legal framework for administering government scholarships and streamlining funding sources.

Minority apologises to Ghanaians over DDEP

0

The Minority in Parliament has apologised to Ghanaians for the implementation of the Domestic Debt Exchange Programme (DDEP) under the Akufo-Addo administration, which left many, especially pensioners, suffering significant financial losses due to haircuts on their investments.

The DDEP was introduced as part of the government’s economic recovery strategy in response to a severe fiscal crisis. It aimed to restore debt sustainability by restructuring domestic bonds.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament during the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review on Thursday, July 31, Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin acknowledged the pain caused by the programme and accepted responsibility for the decision.

Mr. Afenyo-Markin further criticised the Mahama-led government for failing to acknowledge the foundation laid by the previous administration and accused the current leadership of political hypocrisy and double standards.

“The NPP devised solutions: the Energy Sector Levy Act to systematically pay down energy liability, Fiscal Responsibility Law, capping deficit at 5% of GDP and the Debt Exchange to restore sustainability.

“These are actions of a responsible government, and we are proud that we took these decisions, not reckless ones. Again, we take responsibility, we say sorry to Ghanaians, we had to take a painful decision  [DDEP] to implement this,” he said.

He defended the New Patriotic Party’s legacy, stating that the previous administration stabilised a “grave situation,” and that the current government is benefitting from that groundwork without making new contributions of its own.

“You’re taking advantage of this painful decision without giving credit to us. Who is a hypocrite in this matter? You are the one found wanting, and indeed, you are the political naysayers; you engage in double standards and engage in political hypocrisy.

“The NPP cleaned up a grave situation, and now the new administration touts the clean-up floor as if it were their own accomplishment. What have you put in place? None,” he criticised.

IMANI Warns Against Political Takeover of Ghana’s Pension Funds

0

Ghana’s leading policy think tank, IMANI Africa, has issued a strong warning against what it describes as dangerous and unlawful political interference in the country’s private pensions sector.

The organisation fears that recent developments, if left unchecked, could threaten the long-term retirement security of Ghanaian workers and destabilise confidence in the country’s financial system.

GNCCI welcomes 25% policy rate, urges banks to lower lending rates

The Ghana National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (GNCCI) has welcomed the 25% policy rate announced by the Bank of Ghana, describing it as a move to cushion players within the business community.

According to the chamber, the decision aligns with a formal request submitted to the Central Bank on July 29, 2025, calling for a reduction in the policy rate to improve access to credit and spur private sector activity.

In a statement issued on July 30, 2025, as sighted by GhanaWeb Business, the chamber cited improvements in macroeconomic indicators such as declining inflation, a strengthening of the cedi, and easing global financial conditions creating a conducive environment to lower interest rates.

“This policy move is a critical step toward easing the cost of doing business. It will help stimulate investment in key sectors including manufacturing, agribusiness, pharmaceuticals, and other value-added industries particularly within the context of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA),” it stated.

The chamber commended the MPC’s efforts to strike a balance between maintaining price stability and promoting inclusive, sustainable growth.

It further expressed confidence that the rate cut, when combined with ongoing fiscal consolidation and regulatory reforms, would help restore business confidence and accelerate economic transformation.

However, the GNCCI urged commercial banks and financial institutions to reflect the new policy rate in their lending rates to ensure the intended impact reaches businesses, calling on the government to provide additional support for small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and export-oriented industries.

“The GNCCI remains committed to working closely with the Bank of Ghana and all stakeholders to foster a business-friendly environment that drives private sector-led growth and national development,” it added.

GJA threatens media blackout on Police over attacks on Journalists

0

The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has threatened to impose a nationwide media blackout on all police-related activities if urgent and decisive action is not taken to address recent assaults on journalists.

The warning comes in the wake of over 10 violent incidents involving media personnel, including the assault of a GHOne TV reporter during the Ablekuma North parliamentary rerun on July 17, and a separate attack on July 30 involving JoyNews reporter Carlos Calony, his cameraman, and an eyewitness, allegedly by armed military officers during a demolition exercise at Spintex in Accra.

On February 11, some journalists were also assaulted in the Ashanti Region during the Council of State elections for the region. On 27th May, another journalist was during a protest by the NPP over the detention of the Party’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi.

Speaking at a press conference on Wednesday, July 31, GJA President Albert Kwabena Dwumfour condemned the incidents in strong terms, describing them as unacceptable and dangerous to the country’s democratic fabric.

He warned that if the Ghana Police Service fails to act decisively within seven days, the GJA, in consultation with key stakeholders, will direct all media houses to cease coverage of police activities.

“If the Ghana Police Service fails to act decisively within the next 7 days, the GJA, in consultation with key stakeholders, will announce a nationwide media blackout on all police activities. Instruct our members to withhold coverage of police events and editorial engagements with the police,” he declared.

“This is not a threat, it’s a necessary action to defend the integrity and safety of every Ghanaian journalist,” he added.

The GJA is demanding immediate investigations and sanctions against all officers involved, stressing that continued attacks on journalists undermine press freedom and threaten public accountability.

Spanish side agree four-year shirt sponsorship deal

0

Barcelona players will have “DR Congo – Heart of Africa” emblazoned on the back of their training shirts from the start of next season, after the top Spanish football team agreed on a four-year deal with the central African country.

The partnership will reportedly cost the Democratic Republic of Congo 44m euros ($50m; £38m), although the club has not disclosed the figure it will receive.

A rebel group has seized large parts of eastern DR Congo this year, although a ceasefire has recently been agreed.

The arrangement has faced criticism from some Congolese who have questioned their government’s priorities, especially as its own football league has been plagued by chronic underfunding for years.

But the authorities have defended the agreement, saying that it will help raise the profile of the country.

As part of the deal, Barcelona’s Camp Nou stadium will host what the club called an “immersive exhibition… to showcase the cultural diversity and sporting tradition” of DR Congo.

The country’s Sports Minister, Didier Budimbu, told BBC Focus on Africa that the agreement includes a training camp for 50 young Congolese players and 10 coaches.

Barcelona says it will also run camps for children across a range of sports, including basketball, handball and roller hockey.

DR Congo has signed similar deals with Italian side AC Milan and French team AS Monaco. Last month, Budimbu described them as part of a strategy to “reposition” DR Congo as a leader in tourism and investment opportunities.

But some think the money should rather be spent in the country.

“When you talk about tourism, it should be about things to see when people come here… for me, rather than investing that money [abroad], they should invest that money to build the country first,” Muzinga Lemfu, resident of the capital, Kinshasa, told the BBC.

But another resident, Freddy Kabengele, saw the advantages of the deal and said he was happy “to show DR Congo off to the world and also to bring tourists to the country”.

Since 2018, DR Congo’s regional rival Rwanda has had a sponsorship deal with English side Arsenal promoting tourism in the country with the slogan “Visit Rwanda” on the sleeves of the players’ shirts. French team Paris St-Germain and German side Bayern Munich have similar deals.

These have also come under fire, especially recently as Rwanda has been accused of backing rebels in DR Congo in a devastating conflict in the east, which it denies.

In February, DR Congo Foreign Minister Thérèse Kayikwamba Wagner wrote to the clubs questioning the “morality” of the arrangement.

The Rwandan government dismissed the accusations of sports-washing as a “distraction”.

Some critics of the Congolese government have expressed concern that the European deals could overshadow the fighting in the east and the authorities’ troubling human rights record.

In June, Rwanda and the DR Congo signed a peace deal aimed at ending decades of fighting.

In 2023, a deal that South Africa’s tourism board pursued with Tottenham Hotspur did not come to fruition after complaints from the public.

PM says India has over 2,500 parties, sets off buzz in Ghana Parliament

0

Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s address to Ghana’s Parliament on Thursday saw a moment of shared surprise and smiles when he said, “India has over 2,500 political parties,” pausing to smile as murmurs rippled through the chamber.

“I repeat, 2,500 political parties,” he chuckled, prompting louder reactions from the parliamentarians. PM Modi addressed the Ghana Parliament in English.

Speaking on democracy, PM Modi described India as the “mother of democracy,” stressing the importance of openness and dialogue in a democratic setup.

“True democracy promotes discussion and debate. It unites people, it supports dignity and promotes human rights,” he said.

Hamare liye loktantra system nahi, sanskaar hai,” PM Modi said in Hindi. He then repeated the sentence in English, ” For us, democracy is not just a system, it is a part of our fundamental values.”

He highlighted India’s vast diversity as a strength of its democratic fabric. “Twenty different parties governing different states, 22 official languages, thousands of dialects. This is also the reason that people who have come to India have always been welcomed with open hearts,” he said.

“The same spirit helps Indians integrate easily wherever they go,” PM Modi added.

Following PM Modi’s address, Alban Kingsford Sumana Bagbin, Speaker of Ghana’s Parliament, also repeated the humongous figure of “2,500 political parties”, which elicited laughter from Ghana MPs as well as PM Modi.

After addressing the Ghana Parliament, PM Modi greeted the MPs and shook hands with them.

PM Modi’s visit to Ghana, which is the first prime ministerial visit from India to Ghana in three decades, is part of his five-nation tour.

From Ghana, PM Modi will travel to Trinidad and Tobago on a two-day visit from July 3 to 4. He will then visit Argentina from July 4 to 5, before travelling to Brazil to attend the 17th BRICS summit followed by a state visit. In the final leg of his visit, PM Modi will travel to Namibia.

MTN Ghana has reported a 55.8 per cent surge in profit after tax to GHS 3.6 billion for the first six months of 2025, riding on strong growth across its data, mobile money and voice services.

The telecommunications giant, which is Ghana’s largest mobile operator, saw its service revenue climb by 40 per cent to GH₵11.3 billion during the period, according to its unaudited half-year financial results released on Wednesday.

The Chief Executive Officer Stephen Blewett said the stellar performance was achieved through “strong commercial momentum and execution,” while crediting employees for their dedication. “These results would not be possible without the unwavering dedication and hard work of our MTN Ghana employees,” Blewett stated.

The company declared an interim dividend of GHS 0.08 per share, up from GHS 0.065 in the same period last year, rewarding shareholders for the strong performance. The dividend will be paid on September 11, 2025, to shareholders on the register as of August 22, 2025.

Key drivers of growth included:

– A 50.8% jump in data revenue to GHS 6.0 billion

– 46.4% growth in mobile money revenue to GHS 2.8 billion

– 12.6% increase in voice revenue to GHS 2.0 billion

– MTN Ghana’s subscriber base grew by 6.5% to 30.2 million, while active data users increased by 11% to 18.2 million. The company’s mobile money platform now has 17.7 million active users, up 7.4% from last year.

The results come amid improving macroeconomic conditions in Ghana, with inflation declining to 13.7 per cent in June and the cedi appreciating against the US dollar. MTN invested GH₵2.7 billion in network upgrades during the period, expanding its 4G coverage to 99.3 per cent of the population.

Looking ahead, the company said it remains focused on executing its Ambition 2025 strategy while monitoring potential risks from global geopolitical tensions.

The company’s share priced climbed to an all-time high of GH₵3.55 on the Ghana Stock Exchange in anticipation of the release of the half year report today.

Infrastructure alone is not enough, we are investing in people

Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George Minister of Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George

Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovation, Samuel Nartey George, has outlined plans to position Ghana as a powerhouse for Artificial Intelligence (AI) in West Africa.

He made this statement during a keynote address themed “Powering Innovations Through Partnerships” at the maiden MOBEX Africa Partnership Day, held on July 31, 2025, in Accra.

Central to this vision is the development of a US$1 billion Ghana-UAE Innovation and Technology Hub in Prampram. The hub is expected to host global tech giants such as Google, Microsoft, Amazon, and Huawei, alongside local champions like Mobex Africa and Hubtel.

In his speech, the Minister emphasised that Ghana’s transformation will not rely solely on infrastructure but on people.

“We have launched the One Million Coders Programme to train one million Ghanaians, especially youth and women, in coding, AI, and emerging technologies over the next four years.

“This is not just about skills; it’s about economic liberation. It’s about equipping our young people to compete globally and create locally,” he stated.

The Minister further revealed that Ghana aims to become the AI Hub of West Africa through responsible, inclusive, and values-driven technology development.

As part of this effort, a national AI Boot Camp was recently organised for all Ministers of State to prepare every government department for AI integration.

He called for a “continental reset” to shift Africa “from digital dependence to digital determination,” and urged stakeholders to transform MOBEX Africa into a permanent, pan-African engine for digital collaboration.

“Let us invest in African innovation, not just by funding startups, but by enabling ecosystems. Let us build African digital infrastructure, not just roads and towers, but platforms and policies. Let us push for African digital inclusion, not as charity, but as strategy,” he emphasised.

Other key initiatives announced include the establishment of a National Data Exchange Hub to enable safe and transparent data sharing, and a comprehensive review of outdated ICT laws to future-proof Ghana’s digital ecosystem.

‘Apostles of Reset’ have led Ghana into economic stagnation

0

Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin has accused the Mahama-led administration of reversing key developmental gains and plunging the country into economic stagnation.

Speaking on the floor of Parliament during the concluding debate on the 2025 Mid-Year Budget Review on Thursday, July 31, Afenyo-Markin criticised the government’s handling of key national policies initiated by the previous administration.

He alleged that the government, which he described as the “Apostles of Reset,” has undermined Ghana’s economic foundation and international reputation.

“We initiated the transformational 1D1F to create jobs to boost local production in every corner of Ghana. The ‘Apostles of Reset’ have murdered this industrial revolution and condemned these initiatives to economic stagnation.

“We launched the Agenda 111 Hospitals to heal our people and create a foundation for medical tourism. The Apostles of Reset have killed this infrastructure expansion, leaving communities without hope for quality healthcare.

“We pioneered planting for food and jobs to feed our people, to ensure food security and create agricultural wealth. The so-called Appstles of Reset have slaughtered these agricultural transformations, leaving farmers abandoned and food security compromised,” he stated.

According to the Minority Leader, the Mahama-led administration has been promoting illegal mining rather than genuine economic transformation.

“All they know is the ‘GoldBod, GoldBod, GoldBod’ to promote galamsey,” he said.

Afenyo-Markin also accused the administration of damaging Ghana’s diplomatic relations and international credibility, asserting that the country had become isolated on the global stage under the current leadership.

Chowdeck hits 1,000 daily orders in Ghana after three months

0

Chowdeck, a YC-backed Nigerian on-demand delivery platform, has surpassed 1,000 orders in a single day in Ghana, just three months after launching operations in Accra, a milestone that took 11 months to reach back home.

“I see this achievement as more than just a number. It is proof that the vision propelling Chowdeck transcends borders,” CEO Femi Aluko said in a LinkedIn post on Thursday.

Founded in October 2021, Chowdeck has emerged as a formidable player in Nigeria’s competitive $1 billion food delivery market, which is projected to grow to $2.4 billion by 2032, according to IMARC. The startup has served over 1 million users and employs about 20,000 riders across 11 Nigerian cities. Its expansion into Ghana, announced in May 2025, marks the first step in a broader pan-African strategy.

Chowdeck’s Ghanaian operations, covering neighbourhoods like Osu, Cantonments, and East Legon, kicked off with a rider training program and a customer rewards scheme to drive adoption.

Riders have been incentivised by “Rider Games,” a performance-based incentive system offering cash bonuses and access to loans up to GHC 1,000. Customers benefit from a referral program granting GHS10 discounts on initial orders and a tiered “ChowScore” loyalty system, which offers free deliveries and exclusive discounts. These initiatives have helped with market penetration.

In Ghana, competition from established players like Bolt Food tests Chowdeck’s adaptability.  The company’s strategic hire of Henry Whyte, its Ghana country lead and former Bolt Ghana operations manager, will help strengthen its position in a highly competitive market.

With over ₦30 billion ($19 million) in deliveries in Nigeria and a growing vendor base, including a woman-led business achieving ₦2.3 billion ($1.5 million) in revenue, Chowdeck continues to show it may be able to put up a good fight for market share in Ghana.
