Prof Gyampo called and texted OSP during raid on SML – OSP claims

0

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has revealed that Professor Ransford Gyampo, Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority, contacted the Office via phone and text messages during an ongoing search of the premises of Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML).

The disclosure comes in response to recent remarks made by Prof Gyampo, who suggested that the OSP’s investigation into former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta may be motivated by personal vendetta rather than objective legal grounds.

In a statement posted on Facebook on Sunday, June 22, the OSP firmly rejected this claim, stressing that its actions are rooted in clearly stated allegations of corruption and corruption-related offences.

These include the alleged abuse of office for personal profit in connection with the awarding of a multi-year contract to SML.

According to the OSP, Prof Gyampo made attempts to reach the Office while officers from the OSP and the National Security Secretariat were lawfully executing a search warrant at SML’s premises.

“While the OSP welcomes criticism of its work,” the statement read, “it cautions public officials to refrain from interfering — whether directly or through unfounded public statements — with ongoing investigations.”

The Office warned that such conduct could jeopardise the fight against corruption and erode public confidence in accountability mechanisms.

Prof Gyampo called for fairness and neutrality in the Office of the Special Prosecutor’s (OSP) ongoing investigation into former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta.

Speaking during a panel discussion on TV3’s Key Points on Saturday, June 21, Prof Gyampo voiced concern over the manner in which the investigation is being conducted.

“I hope the OSP is not motivated by vendetta,” he stated.

The move has sparked criticism from some observers who argue that the OSP could have explored alternative approaches to obtain information from the former minister.

Among the options raised were virtual interrogation or dispatching investigators to meet him abroad.

Despite Mr Ofori-Atta’s legal team had requested a video conferencing session due to his health condition, however, this was turned down by the OSP, which maintained that he had not been formally charged and must comply with standard investigative procedures.

Suggestions that the OSP could send officers abroad to meet the former minister were also dismissed by the Office on grounds of cost to the public purse.

In response, Prof Gyampo emphasised the need for greater clarity regarding Ofori-Atta’s medical condition.

“It is important to find out if Mr Ofori-Atta is not sick. Because being sick is not an easy matter,” he remarked.

He further questioned the OSP’s track record in handling high-profile corruption cases, pointing to past instances where investigations launched with public fanfare failed to yield substantive outcomes.

“And the OSP, they have in the past started so dramatically but, in the end, we saw nothing. Look at the Cecilia Dapaah case,” he said.

Former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, has cautioned party members and supporters against injecting religious and tribal sentiments into internal discourse, describing such tactics as divisive and dangerous.

Addressing the NPP Constituency Chairmen Caucus Conference in the Ashanti Region on Saturday, June 21, 2025, the 2024 Presidential Candidate of the party urged members to uphold the party’s long-standing tradition of unity and inclusiveness.

“It is very, very important that we don’t allow people to come in with explanations that are not factual, that are made up, and that divide our party,” he said.

Dr Bawumia emphasised that the NPP is a united political force composed of people from all ethnic and religious backgrounds and warned against political opportunism that seeks to exploit religion and tribe.

“We are a united party, encompassing people from all ethnic groups, all religions. We are part of the elephant family. We must not allow people, for the sake of political advantage, to tear us apart as a party. I am saying this because people are going religious and tribal. That is dangerous for the NPP and very dangerous for us,” he cautioned.

Dr Bawumia cited findings from the Oquaye Committee Report, which, according to him, confirmed that religion and tribe were not determining factors in the 2024 general elections.

“My 4.7 million votes, was it only Muslims who voted for me? It’s not possible. They were all different voters. When President Kufuor lost, did we say it was religion? When Nana Akufo-Addo lost, did we say it was religion? That is not a factor. People want to make it a factor for political reasons,” he stressed.

He added that if religion were genuinely a barrier within the party, he would not have contested the flagbearership in the first place.

“If that was the case, I wouldn’t have contested at all. I would have stepped aside because I’m not a selfish person. I value the party. I will not jeopardise the ability of the party to win the 2028 election. It’s too important. I would have stepped aside,” Dr Bawumia said.

His remarks follow recent comments made by the Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso, Dr Stephen Amoah, in which he reportedly claimed that Christians can never vote for a Muslim to become President of Ghana.

Artiste manager and entertainment pundit Bullgod has expressed disappointment in Ghanaians who are celebrating the arrest of three individuals allegedly involved in a $100 million fraud scheme.

Speaking on United Showbiz on June 21, 2025, Bullgod, who claims to have a close relationship with one of the suspects, Kofi Boat, said he finds it troubling that some netizens are rejoicing over the news of his arrest.

He emphasised that, in his view, Kofi Boat is not a fraudster, stating that it’s possible he may have been implicated in fraudulent activity without his knowledge.

“Kofi Boat is my good friend. I was in court myself to support him. My concern is about the substance of the case… The Kofi Boat I know isn’t like that. I can only say that from where I sit,” he said. Those jubilating and those disappointed over the case should give themselves time because time will vindicate those innocent and guilty,” he said.

Bullgod also expressed his support for Kofi Boat’s wife and family during this challenging time.

He further revealed that Kofi Boat’s extradition case at the magistrate court has been adjourned to July 1, 2025.

“All I will say is that my strength to Kofi Boat’s wife and family. I was there to support him and his family.

“After his lawyers and the state prosecutor argued… The judge has adjourned to July 1, 2025. The lawyers of Kofi Boat were amazing because their arguments were solid,” he added.

‘I don’t foresee any progress in the creative arts industry’

0

Ghanaian media personality and entertainment pundit Nana Romeo has expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of support creatives receive in the entertainment industry.

Speaking in an interview with GhanaWeb’s Isaac Dadzie on June 22, 2025, during the one-week observation of the late highlife musician Dada KD, Nana Romeo stated that he does not foresee any significant development in the creative arts sector.

He attributed the stagnation of the industry to partisan politics, which he believes continues to divide stakeholders.

“I don’t foresee any progress because it has always been the same and it will always be the same. Because the problem with the industry is that it is divided because we have NPP and NDC folks.

“If the NPP is in power the NDC will not root for the success of the industry. This is the same way if NDC is in power. So we don’t even pray that we progress because why should I pray for the industry to thrive when it is not my party in power?” he said

Meanwhile, tons of notable personalities, including the Deputy Chief of Staff Nana Oye Bampoe, Wofa 1, Nana Acheampong, Kojo Antwi, and others, were present to sympathize with the family of the late Dada KD during his one-week observation held in Accra.

Farshi shalwar design is a timeless expression of South Asian heritage, rooted in the opulence of Mughal and Nawabi culture. The word “farshi” is derived from “farsh,” meaning “floor” in Persian, and appropriately so—the garment is designed to trail along the floor in elegant, sweeping folds. Traditionally worn by royal women in the Indian subcontinent, the farshi shalwar is known for its luxurious volume, intricate embellishments, and graceful drape.

A farshi shalwar typically features a heavily flared lower portion that begins from the waist and expands dramatically past the ankles, often extending out several feet on the floor. It is paired with a long kameez (tunic) and a dupatta (scarf), forming a complete ensemble that speaks to grandeur and cultural richness. The design usually includes heavy embroidery, zardozi, gota work, or intricate threadwork—making it ideal for bridal wear, formal events, and traditional ceremonies.

Though steeped in history, the farshi shalwar has evolved to suit modern aesthetics. Designers today experiment with fabrics like chiffon, silk, jamawar, and organza to offer lighter, more wearable variations without losing the essence of its royal charm. Fashion houses in Pakistan and India have revived this classic silhouette, showcasing it on runways and wedding platforms with a modern twist—combining it with structured blouses, asymmetrical tops, or fusion drapes.

In essence, farshi shalwar design bridges the past and present. It stands as a celebration of cultural legacy while embracing contemporary fashion sensibilities, making it a treasured piece in any traditional wardrobe.

Man sets 60-year-old brother’s house ablaze

0

Residents of Kugbagbokope, a small farming and fishing community in the Ketu South Municipality, have been left in shock after a man allegedly set his elder brother’s house on fire without any provocation.

The incident occurred around 2 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025. The victim, Mr. Joe Kugbagbo, a 60-year-old farmer, lost nearly all his belongings when his house—constructed with coconut fronds—was engulfed in flames.

Speaking to the media in tears, Mr. Kugbagbo recounted the terrifying moment: “I was resting in my room this afternoon when I started feeling some intense heat and smoke around my room. By the time I rushed out, the room was burning.”

He further lamented, “I lost some kentes I have woven, clothes my children bought for me, and about Gh¢1,500 I saved from working. Now, I am left with only one ‘kniker’ and a shirt, and I don’t even know where to sleep.”

According to the Assembly Member for Nogokpo-Ativuta Electoral Area, Jonas Agbagba, the suspect, Gabriel Kugbagbo—who is the younger brother of the victim—was arrested and handed over to the Agbozume Police Command.

“The suspect confessed to pouring a substance suspected to be kerosene on the house,” Agbagba revealed.

“Because the building was made of coconut fronds, the fire spread quickly and destroyed everything.”

Eyewitnesses said Gabriel had earlier in the day made a threatening remark, telling his brother he would “show him,” though no recent disagreement was known between the two.

When the fire broke out and the suspect was apprehended, angry community members nearly lynched him, but Agbagba intervened to prevent mob justice.

The suspect is currently in police custody at the Agbozume Police Station as investigations continue.

In a colorful and culturally rich ceremony held on 20th June, 2025 Her Excellency Fidelia Graand-Galon, the Suriname Ambassador to Ghana, was officially installed as the Development Queen Mother (Noryaa Manye) of Otublohum Traditional Area in Ga Mashie, Accra. by Tetebotan Nii Dodoo Nsaki II, the Paramount Chief of Otublohum,

The historic event drew dignitaries from all walks of life, including prominent traditional leaders, members of the diplomatic corps, the Jamaican community in Ghana, and representatives of the African diaspora. They gathered to witness a symbolic moment of cultural unity and reconnection between Ghana and Suriname — two nations deeply linked by heritage and history.

In her acceptance speech, Ambassador Graand-Galon expressed her heartfelt gratitude for the honor and shared reflections on the long-standing cultural ties between Ghana and Suriname, particularly with the Ga people.

“I came to Ghana in 1997 to learn about the chieftaincy system, driven by a desire to trace my roots,” she recalled. “Many of our traditions in Suriname came directly from here. After more than two decades, I am proud to see that these systems are still alive — a testament to the strength and resilience of African culture.”

She was especially struck by the cultural and linguistic parallels between the Ga people and the Surinamese. “In Suriname, we still say ‘Agoo’ to ask for permission — just like in Ghana. That’s not a coincidence; it’s our shared heritage,” she said.

Ambassador Graand-Galon also emphasized the impact of colonialism on African identity, calling for a revival of African languages and traditions. “The first thing the colonizers took from us was our language. But I know who I am — I am African, and I will never forget my roots. That’s why I am learning local Ghanaian languages and encouraging others to do the same.”

In her new role as Noryaa Manye, she vowed to channel her efforts into tangible development for the Otublohum community. “In the name of Jesus whom I serve, I pledge to give my all for the development of Otublohum. The work is great, but I believe with unity, we can accomplish much.”

She further appealed for deeper collaboration between Africans on the continent and those in the diaspora. “We are one people. We need our African brothers and sisters to listen and open their arms to us. Our unity is our power.”

The installation of Ambassador Graand-Galon by Tetebotan Nii Dodoo Nsaki II stands as a profound milestone in the broader mission of reconnecting Africa with its diaspora, laying the foundation for future partnerships built on shared identity, history, and development.

Three Junction-Ashalaja road worsens following years of neglect

0

Residents and commuters using the Three Junction–Ashalaja Road continue to raise urgent concerns about the worsening condition of the stretch, calling on government authorities to intervene as lives and livelihoods remain at risk.

The deplorable road, which connects key communities in the Ga West and Ga South Municipalities, is riddled with massive potholes, uneven surfaces, and inadequate drainage—issues residents say have gone unresolved for years.

“It is terrible, the other day a tricycle subsided into a ditch because of this, so we will plead with the government to fix the roads for us. We did not realise when they did the reshaping, a little after a vehicle knocked down a school girl a few weeks ago at Ohemaa Junction,” Isaac Kyei, a resident, shared.

Drivers, too, are bearing the brunt of the poor road network. Constant breakdowns and frequent trips to mechanics have become the norm, with many avoiding the road entirely.

“The road has always been like this, but it worsens when the rains set in, and it affects both passengers and drivers alike. We keep on complaining, but nothing is being done about it, so we will plead for the government to heed our cry. We are always visiting Abossey Okai for repair works on this road. Due to the constant damage on our vehicles, most drivers refuse to even ply the road, leaving a lot of passengers frustrated and stranded,” Abed Oduro lamented.

But beyond delays and mechanical breakdowns, the road has become a serious public safety issue. One young woman, who asked to remain anonymous, recounted how she suffered a miscarriage while traveling on the road—adding that emergency services often refuse to use the stretch due to its dangerous condition.

While residents recall sporadic efforts to patch the road, those interventions have been short-lived. Poor drainage and substandard materials have eroded previous works.

Former Assembly Member for the Manhean Electoral Area, Malik Abass, revealed that a recent reshaping exercise had little impact due to the onset of the rains.

Off the record, the Member of Parliament for Amasaman, Sedem Afenyo, told Channel One News that the project’s delay is partly due to pending budget approvals.

Meanwhile, Edwin Teye, Urban Roads Engineer for the Ga West Municipal Assembly, noted that once a contract is awarded, construction could take up to 24 months because of the extensive drainage works required.

“From Obeyeyie to Ashalaja, the road is in a really bad shape. We heard the assemblies have been given equipment to fix the roads, but it is not evident in the current state of the road. We are pleading with the authorities to come and fix the roads for us because we are really struggling,” added Isaac Mensah, a driver’s mate.

Residents say they are tired of broken promises and insist that immediate and lasting action is needed to restore the road and ease the suffering of the thousands who rely on it every day.

Okada rider survives brutal machete attack in Boinso, suspect arrested

0

A commercial motorbike rider, Emmanuel, popularly known as Suro Obaa in the Boinso community of the Western North Region, has narrowly survived a vicious machete attack believed to have been aimed at ending his life.

The incident occurred on the night of Thursday, June 20, between 9:00 pm and 10:00 pm, as Emmanuel was returning home from work.

According to eyewitness reports and police information, the attack happened at a notorious stretch of rough road in Boinso, where motorcyclists are often forced to slow down due to poor conditions.

While maneuvering cautiously through the area, Emmanuel was suddenly ambushed by an individual wielding a cutlass. The attacker slashed him multiple times in the head and neck. Bleeding profusely, Emmanuel was only saved by the timely arrival of another motorbike rider, which scared the assailant off.

Despite his injuries, Emmanuel was able to name his attacker, one Abu, also known by the nickname Subzero, a fellow Okada rider from the same town. He identified the suspect’s distinctive outfit, a Barcelona jersey, which police later confirmed was worn by Abu at the time of his arrest.

Emmanuel is currently undergoing emergency surgery at Samartex Hospital in Samreboi, near Enchi, while the suspect remains in custody at the Enchi Municipal Police Station pending further investigation.

Though no formal charges beyond the assault have been confirmed, some residents allege that the suspect may be linked to a suspected local syndicate involved in the sale of human body parts.

These allegations, according to community sources, are tied to previous cases of unexplained disappearances of strangers who reportedly boarded commercial motorbikes operated by individuals suspected to be members of the group.

Police say investigations are ongoing to determine the motive behind the attack and to verify community concerns.

Reacting to this on the United Showbiz programme on Saturday, Ghanaian comic actor and skit maker, Dr Likee, also known as Ras Nene, congratulated the veteran actress on her appointment.

“Mama, God bless you, we thank God for this appointment. May God be with you as you take up this new role. I’m very, very happy,” Dr Likee said.

Ras Nene further suggested that he wished she was rather appointed to serve as Ghana’s Ambassador to the United States of America, indicating that it would have been an opportunity for him to visit the country for the first time.

Also speaking on the same show, media personality Nana Frimpong Ziga said Kalsoume Sinare is qualified and well-prepared for the appointment despite her background as a movie actress.

“I have always said that Kalsoume Sinare qualifies for a ministerial position despite the fact that she’s a creative person… This woman is overly qualified for that, and today, she has been given more than a ministerial portfolio. We wish her all the best,” Ziga said.

He further commended President Mahama for giving appointments to many individuals within the Ghanaian creative space.

“President Mahama has done well. In fact, apart from President Nkrumah and Rawlings, he has done better than anybody in terms of recognising and rewarding the creatives. He has not disappointed the creative people who supported his presidential bid,” he added.

The Public Relations Officer of the Burniton Music Group, owned by Ghanaian Afro-dancehall artiste Stonebwoy, Vida Adutwumwaa Boateng, has also congratulated the actress on her appointment as Ghana’s Ambassador to Spain.

She urged Kalsoume Sinare to collaborate with the cultural attachés at Ghana’s Embassy in Spain to promote Ghanaian culture in the European country.

“We have culture desks in all our embassies abroad to help promote our music, movies and culture and all the things we do in our creative spaces, but for a very long time, I haven’t seen anyone in charge of the creative space in the embassies championing this, and so having one of us there, I know her duties transcend the cultural attachés, but we want to see collaborations. We have Accra in Paris, I want to see us having Accra in Zaragoza or any of the cities in Spain,” Vida said.

Kalsoume Sinare’s expected diplomatic role

Earlier, YEN.com.gh reported that Kalsoume Sinare would be responsible for promoting Ghana’s interests abroad, fostering diplomatic relations between Ghana and Spain, and facilitating trade and cultural exchanges between the two countries.

Her appointment was a significant development that could have implications for Ghana’s diplomatic relations with Spain, particularly in the areas of cultural exchange, given her background as a movie actress.

She would be stepping into the new role with a master’s degree in International Relations and Diplomacy from GIMPA and a Bachelor’s in Public Service and Governance.

Watch as ‘ballers’ send bold message to FBI at nightclub

The ballers had a brazen message aimed at the FBI The ballers had a brazen message aimed at the FBI

As Ghanaians continue to process reports of high-profile individuals being arrested by the U.S. Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) over alleged involvement in fraud-related activities, a group of flashy partygoers in Accra have made it clear they remain unfazed.

In viral footage that surfaced on social media on June 22, 2025, a popular upscale nightclub in Accra became the scene of an audacious display.

The video shows a group of revellers, dubbed “ballers”, placing a lavish order for premium drinks.

Before the expensive bottles were delivered, a waiter paraded through the crowd holding a sign that read boldly, “F* the FBI.”

The video captioned “Ballers fully active,” quickly caught fire online, not just for its extravagance but for its brazen message aimed at the U.S. federal agency.

The timing of the stunt, amid ongoing investigations and arrests, has raised eyebrows and sparked heated reactions across social media.

Unsurprisingly, netizens have criticized the move, interpreting it as a direct provocation or mockery of the FBI’s recent operations in Ghana.

“Kwasiasɛm sei aaa then they will come and pick you up,” one user said.

“It’s all fun until you’re the one in custody,” another warned.

A third added, “FBI, recruit us to root all of them out. We value our image and will gladly cooperate.”

The incident comes in the wake of major developments in May and June 2025, when reports revealed that the FBI had conducted covert operations in Accra, leading to the arrest of several individuals, including well-known businessmen Nana Kojo Boateng, also known as Dada Joe Remix, and Isaac Kofi Oduro Boateng, popularly called Kofi Boat.

Sources have indicated that these individuals had long been under investigation by U.S. authorities for their alleged roles in complex financial crimes, including romance scams and money laundering.

Extradition proceedings are reportedly underway to have them stand trial in the United States.

Bawumia is an experienced politician aside Mahama – Dr Zaato

0

Dr Joshua Zaato, Political Scientist Dr Joshua Zaato, Political Scientist

Political scientist Dr Joshua Zaato has described Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia as the most experienced, credible and marketable politician in Ghana today aside President Mahama.

Speaking on TV3’s KeyPoints on June 21,2025, Dr Zaato praised Dr Bawumia for his long-standing service in government, personal integrity, and ability to evolve within Ghana’s political space without scandal.

“Take Mahama out of the picture, and there’s no Ghanaian politician more intelligent, humbler, and more experienced than Bawumia. He’s been in government for nearly two decades without a single proven corruption case against him”, he stated.

According to Dr Zaato, the Vice President’s technocratic background and leadership in key policy areas such as digitalisation and the Ghana Card project distinguish him from other politicians.

While acknowledging that not all of Dr Bawumia’s proposals have succeeded, he argued that many were innovative and ahead of their time.

Dr Zaato also dismissed concerns about Dr Bawumia’s religious and ethnic identity, noting that data shows he enjoys strong support even in Christian-majority constituencies.

“He’s beaten Christians in many Christian-majority areas. Being a Muslim or a Northerner should not be used against him. It didn’t stop the current president, who is also from the north,” he said.

He described Dr Bawumia as ‘clean, calm, educated, and strategic,’ adding that his public image remains one of his greatest political strengths.

Dr Zaato clarified that his analysis was independent and not politically motivated.

“If I fall down here, the NPP won’t even know. I’ve never held a position in the party. I’m here because TV3 invited me based on my qualifications,” he indicated.

Israel-Iran Conflict: Time to pay attention to renewable energy sources

0

Martin Kpebu is a private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu is a private legal practitioner

Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has urged the Ghanaian government to accelerate its participation in discussions about renewable energy and shift from fossil fuels.

Speaking on KeyPoints on TV3 on June 21, 2025, Kpebu stated that while Ghana still depends heavily on crude oil, global energy trends rapidly move toward solar, wind, and other clean alternatives.

He advised the government to pay attention to more renewable sources of energy instead of depending on fuels.

“Governments should engage the citizenry more on how we are transitioning from crude oil to non-fossil fuels,” he asserted.

His comments come as concerns have been raised about the prices of fuel products amid the ongoing conflict between Israel and Iran.

Experts have warned of potentially severe economic repercussions for Ghana if the war escalates, since the country is heavily dependent on imported fuels for its subsistence.

However, Kpebu pointed to the United Kingdom’s shift toward renewable energy, particularly in the North Sea, which has led to a decline in investment in oil and gas.

“The UK government is very clear that for them, it’s renewables; solar, wind, et cetera,” he explained.

He urged Ghana to learn from the UK’s approach, not only by developing a clear-cut renewable energy policy but also by ensuring the process is transparent and inclusive.

He referenced UK initiatives led by figures like Ed Miliband to encourage widespread adoption of home solar panels.

“There is a rooftop solar revolution in the UK. That’s what we also need to do, observe their conversation and replicate it,” he suggested.

Meanwhile, in a marked escalation, President Trump said he authorised U.S. military strikes on Iran’s nuclear facilities, Fordow, Natanz, and Isfahan, on June 21–22, 2025. These strikes involved 30,000-pound “bunker-buster” bombs delivered by B‑2 stealth bombers, along with Tomahawk missiles from submarines.

Trump declared the operation a “spectacular military success,” stating it “obliterated” Iran’s nuclear program while warning of potential further action unless Tehran ceased escalation.

In the aftermath, Iran retaliated with missile and drone strikes targeting Israeli sites, and potentially U.S. forces in the region, prompting heightened regional alert and demands for de-escalation.

Your comments undermine the fight against corruption—OSP takes on Gyampo

The Office of the Special Prosecutor has condemned comments by the Acting Chief Executive Officer for the Shippers Authority, Prof. Ransford Gyampo.

Gyampo, while speaking on Accra-based TV3’s Keypoints said he hopes the OSP’s debacle with the former Finance Minister, Ken Ofori-Atta is borne out of patriotism and not to impress the current government to keep his position or personal vendetta for the former minister.

‘We must feed ourselves to be truly free’ – Agric Minister

0

Minister of Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, has urged a national reorientation of Ghana’s agricultural priorities, warning that the country’s overreliance on food imports undermines economic stability and compromises true national independence.

Speaking at Channel One TV‘s AgriFair at the Efua Sutherland Park in Accra on Saturday June 21, the minister stated that food security is fundamental to Ghana’s development, stressing, “We all understand that a hungry man is not a free man.

“So for us to free our people and give them absolute freedom, we need to produce food in abundance to feed the people of Ghana.”

According to Mr. Opoku, Ghana currently spends over $2 billion annually on food imports — a figure he described as economically unsustainable and paradoxical given the country’s rich agricultural resources.

“As we speak we import a lot of food into Ghana. Our food import is estimated above $2billion annually and so every year we throw away $2 billion to the foreign market to go and buy food to supplement local production. So clearly our agricultural landscape is a paradox which must be looked at critically.”

The minister pointed out that Ghana has all the essentials for agricultural success: abundant land, water resources, affordable labour, and access to regional markets through the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

These factors, he said, place Ghana in a strong position to turn agriculture into a major driver of economic growth.

“Nature has bestowed on us a lot of agricultural potential… We have what it takes to use agriculture to engender economic growth,” Mr. Opoku emphasised.

The AgriFair 2025 is powered by Channel One TV with support from 97.3 Citi FM and it is proudly sponsored by the Ghana Exim Bank, Legacy Crop Improvement Centre, Development Bank Ghana, Agri-Impact Limited, the Horticulture Business Platform and Twellium Ghana Ltd, Technology partner; Farmerline.

Nollywood actor, Femi Branch battles assault, debt accusations

0

Popular actor and politician, Femi Branch, is currently embroiled in some controversies, including an alleged assault on a film set; and an unpaid debt of over 10 years.

The actor was initially accused of assaulting an Assistant Director while on set, though he was said to have apologised to both the AD and other crew members.

Apparently unsatisfied by his apology, the film crew community released a statement that went viral.

The statement read, “On 18 June 2025, during a production shoot, an actor, Femi Branch, physically assaulted the first Assistant Director on set.

“He slapped the first AD in the presence of witnesses, violating not only professional boundaries but basic human decency.

“Under pressure, an assurance of apology was given. Filming resumed under the 1st AD’s instruction, and the actor later apologised to the 1st AD. and the entire crew.

“We commend the entire production crew for standing firmly against violence and upholding respect and integrity on set.”

In a video that trended on social media, an angry Femi was blocked from leaving the scene by some crew members. The actor could then be heard asking the director if he brought him on set to embarrass him.

Meanwhile, as this was going on, an X user, Pastor Timilehin, accused Branch of owing his father the sum of N9.7m.

In his post, Timilehin alleged that Branch borrowed the sum of N1m from his father, Tolulope Komolafe, in 2011, with an interest of N50,000 per month, which he claimed had now accumulated to N9.5m.

He wrote, “Dear @femibranch you borrowed the sum of 1 million Naira from Mr Akin Tolulope Komolafe (My Dad), since 2011 with interest of 50,000 per month.

“You have refused to pay to date. The accumulated sum is now 9.7 million. My dad helped you out when you needed it most. Now that everything has worked out for you, you have refused to pay him his money, despite all the efforts he has made to recover it.

“I just want to let you know one thing, you must pay that loan. If my dad fails to get it from you, I will get it from you or your children.”

He also shared a letter allegedly written by Femi and requesting for the loan in December 2011, to fund his film, Onile.

However, when Sunday Scoop reached out to Branch, he refused to comment, saying, “Please, I do not want to comment. I would appreciate it if you could respect that.”

Stop undermining anti-graft efforts with unfounded claims

0

The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has responded to remarks made by the Acting Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority, Professor Ransford Gyampo, over its ongoing investigation into former Finance Minister Kenneth Nana Yaw Ofori-Atta.

In a public notice dated Sunday, June 22, 2025, the OSP described Prof. Gyampo’s suggestion that the investigation is driven by a personal vendetta as “unfounded” and potentially damaging to the integrity of Ghana’s anti-corruption fight.

“The OSP wishes to place on record that its actions involving the former Finance Minister are based on stated allegations of corruption and corruption-related offences, particularly abuse of office for profit, including the multi-year contract awarded to Strategic Mobilisation Limited (SML),” the notice stated.

The OSP’s response comes after Prof. Gyampo, speaking on TV3 on June 21, said he hoped the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, was acting out of “patriotism” and not personal animus.

“I hope the OSP is not motivated by vendetta but out of patriotism,” Prof. Gyampo said, adding that if the motivation is anything but patriotic, it could damage the reputation of the Special Prosecutor.

The OSP, however, rejected any insinuation of bias, revealing that Prof. Gyampo had also contacted the office while a legal search of SML’s premises was being conducted with support from National Security operatives.

“Incidentally, the said CEO called and sent messages to the Office in respect of SML while officers of the OSP and National Security were still conducting a legal search of SML’s premises,” the statement added.

While welcoming constructive criticism, the Special Prosecutor cautioned public officials against interfering—whether directly or through public commentary—in ongoing investigations.

“It cautions public officials to refrain from interfering—whether directly or through unfounded public statements—with ongoing investigations. Such actions have the potential to undermine the fight against corruption,” the OSP warned.

Ghana Health Service confirms Mpox cases reach 107

0

The Ghana Health Service (GHS) has confirmed nine new cases of Monkeypox (Mpox), bringing the total number to 107, with no admissions and no deaths, as of June 18, 2025.

In a latest update, the GHS said it remained vigilant across all 16 regions, actively monitoring infections through its surveillance system to prevent further spread.

It was also engaging in Social Behavioural Change activities in the various communities, schools and markets across the country to curb the spread.

Mpox is a viral disease caused by an orthopox virus called monkeypox virus. It spreads mainly through close contact with someone who has the infection, causing a painful rash, enlarged lymph nodes and fever, which can make people very sick and leave scars.

The disease mainly spreads from person to person through close contact and occurs through exposure to bodily fluids; lesions on the skin or on internal mucosal surfaces, respiratory particles and contaminated objects.

The GHS advised the public to remain vigilant, practice good hygiene, and avoid close contact with people showing signs of rashes, and report symptoms like fever, rash or swollen lymph nodes early to the health facilities.

“Wash hands frequently with soap and water or resort to the use of hand sanitizer, especially before and after touching sores. Let’s also wear the nose masks,” it said.

It also urged the public to ensure strict adherence to safety protocols to help contain the disease.

“Let us not drop our guard, if you notice an unusual rashes or flu-like symptoms, seek early care,” it said.

Experts have advocated the involvement of the media in creating awareness among the public as well as debunk misinformation and disinformation about the disease as cases keep increasing.

The inability to debunk misinformation and rumour would create panic, spread of the disease, confusion and lack of trust in institutions as well as have dire consequences on the economy.

They appealed to the media to help keep the public informed, create announcements, leveraging on social media platforms, help fact check information.

The World Health Organisation (WHO) declared Mpox a public health emergency of international concern last August, due to a new variant spreading in Africa.

Mpox has been recorded in over 13 African countries, marking the second WHO alert in two years.

As of last year, more than 17,000 suspected cases and 517 deaths were reported across Africa, according to the Africa Centre for Disease Control and Prevention.

The WHO last year approved an Mpox vaccine, aimed at timely and increased access for millions at risk in Africa, where the latest outbreak has infected more than 20,000.

‘Hajia4Reall has not sinned if she provided FBI with information on fraudsters’

MC Yaa Yeboah (pictured) says Hajia4Reall has not sinned if she provided FBI with information MC Yaa Yeboah (pictured) says Hajia4Reall has not sinned if she provided FBI with information

Entertainment pundit MC Yaa Yeboah has stated that Hajia4Reall has not committed any offence if she indeed provided information to the FBI leading to the arrest of some Ghanaians connected to a $100 million fraud scheme.

On June 18, 2025, reports from multiple sources indicated that Kofi Boat, along with a man identified as Agony and a third accomplice, are facing extradition to the United States for their alleged involvement in romance scams and money laundering.

In the wake of their reported arrests, speculation swirled on social media, with some users accusing Hajia4Reall of being the informant who tipped off the FBI.

Addressing the controversy on United Showbiz on June 21, 2025, MC Yaa Yeboah defended the musician, asserting that even if the allegations were true, she acted within her legal rights.

Referencing Section 20 of Ghana’s Criminal Offences Act, MC Yaa Yeboah emphasised that it would actually have been a crime for Hajia4Reall to withhold such information from authorities if she had prior knowledge of the individuals involved.

“Let’s say Hajia4Reall was the one who provided the FBI with the information. What wrong would she have done if she was the one? It is against our Criminal Offenses Acts if you know people involved in a crime and refuse to say it.

“We have to congratulate her for providing information on the people arrested if she was the one,” she said.

MC Yaa Yeboah also sent a stern caution to individuals accusing Hajia4Reall of being a “snitch”.

She emphasised that the FBI is working with information gathered for a longer period, therefore linking Hajia4Reall to the case can put her life in danger.

“I have seen lots of videos on snaps and people are happy. Some people have even gone on media platforms calling the FBI to investigate certain individuals. If the FBI wants to come at you, they will make sure they have gathered a lot of information that will prove their case right.

“Let us stop pointing fingers and leaving it for the right institutions to do their jobs. I can’t fathom why people are linking Hajia4Reall to the arrest. We should be careful because we are putting the girl’s life in danger,” she added.

Lordina Mahama is more influential than Vice President Opoku-Agyemang

Maurice Ampaw is a private legal practitioner Maurice Ampaw is a private legal practitioner

Private legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw, has asserted that the First Lady Lordina Mahama wields more power in the NDC government than the Vice President Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang.

His remarks follows a call by the former Deputy Director at the Office of the former First Lady, Akosua Manu, on Vice President Opoku-Agyemang earlier on in June, to intervene in the ongoing processes aimed at removing the embattled Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo from office.

Speaking in an exclusive interview with GhanaWeb on June 21, 2025, Maurice Ampaw has outrightly dismissed the possibility of the vice president intervening on the matter.

“No, the Vice President cannot handle it. You know, it is a political agenda and she has been ineffective. Look at her performance, she is not active. It is a party manifesto promise, so Jane Naana cannot do anything about it. If anything, I think that Mahama’s wife (Lordina Mahama) can better assist in this matter.

“There are only two people who can change the course of this action; Mahama’s wife Lordina Mahama or Ibrahim Mahama,” he said.

He alleged that after the removal of Chief Justice Torkornoo, the NDC will turn their attention to the Electoral Commission to remove their Chairperson Jean Mensah.

Israel-Iran Conflict: US involvement could lead to severe economic strain

Joe Jackson cautioned that the development would impact various sectors of the economy Joe Jackson cautioned that the development would impact various sectors of the economy

Renowned financial analyst Joe Jackson has issued a strong warning that the US military action against Iran could have disastrous consequences for Ghana’s fragile economy.

Speaking in an interview on TV3, Jackson cautioned that any such escalation would “devastatingly” impact various sectors of the country’s economy since Ghana is a fuel-dependent economy.

“Ghana has always been vulnerable to oil price rises. If the US gets involved, it could have a devastating effect… we should fasten our belts for a tough time… Oil prices, fuel prices, transportation and food, cedi exchange rate, electricity costs, remittances, everything could take a hit,” he warned.

He also advocated for proactive domestic measures: saving money, negotiating fuel price controls with unions, and enacting regulatory interventions to cushion everyday Ghanaians.

“We have to look at things that we can do to cushion the worst effects for the common man. We should save money in other areas. We should be negotiating with the unions for a regulation of prices,” he added.

Joe Jackson’s remarks came just before US President Donald Trump formally confirmed that American forces had targeted three Iranian nuclear sites. Trump hailed the operation as a “spectacular success,” noting that all US aircraft had safely exited Iranian airspace

Economic analysts now fear a ripple effect from the military action. A sharp rise in oil prices could place enormous strain on Ghana’s import-dependent fuel supply and drive up costs of essentials across the board.

A Celebration of Elegance and Tradition

The boubou, a flowing wide-sleeved robe, is a timeless garment that holds a significant place in West African fashion and culture. Traditionally worn by both men and women, the boubou has evolved over the years, especially in women’s fashion, where it has become a symbol of elegance, identity, and cultural pride. Women’s boubou styles are celebrated for their vibrant colors, intricate patterns, and versatile designs that blend tradition with modern flair.

Originating from countries like Senegal, Mali, Nigeria, and Guinea, the boubou was initially a loose robe made from handwoven fabrics like cotton or brocade. For women, the boubou is often paired with a matching headwrap called a gele or moussor, enhancing its regal look. The traditional style features embroidery around the neckline, sleeves, and hem, showcasing the artisan’s craftsmanship.

Modern women’s boubous have embraced contemporary cuts and fabrics, incorporating lace, silk, and chiffon, while maintaining the garment’s classic loose silhouette. Designers now play with asymmetrical hemlines, layered fabrics, and bold prints, allowing women to express individuality while honoring cultural heritage.

Popular Styles of Women’s Boubou

1. The Grand Boubou (Agbada or Kaftan Style): This is the most iconic style, characterized by its wide sleeves and voluminous shape. It’s often worn at weddings, religious ceremonies, and festive occasions, symbolizing dignity and status.

2. Fitted Boubou: While the traditional boubou is loose, modern variations include fitted versions that accentuate the figure. These are often tailored to the waist or hips and can feature slits or decorative cuts.

3. Layered Boubou: This style involves layering different fabrics or adding overlays to create texture and depth. It is a favorite for fashion-forward women who want to blend tradition with trendy aesthetics.

4. Embroidered Boubou: Embroidery is a key element, often featuring geometric or floral patterns. The embroidery is typically hand-stitched with gold or silver threads, making the outfit suitable for formal events.

The boubou is more than just a garment; it’s a statement of cultural identity and pride. It symbolizes respect, elegance, and the rich history of West African societies. Women wear the boubou to honor their roots while embracing fashion’s evolving nature. Its versatility makes it suitable for casual outings, religious events, and grand celebrations alike.

In conclusion, boubou styles for women are a magnificent blend of tradition and innovation. From classic flowing robes to modern tailored designs, the boubou continues to captivate with its beauty and cultural significance. Whether adorned with intricate embroidery or vibrant prints, the boubou remains an enduring symbol of African heritage and female elegance.

Interior Minister announces GH¢100,000 insurance package for Fire Service Personnel

Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, Minister for the Interior Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, Minister for the Interior

Minister for the Interior, Muntaka Mohammed-Mubarak, has announced a GH¢100,000.00 insurance package for personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) who suffer permanent injuries or die in the line of duty.

He made the announcement during the passing-out ceremony of 1,658 recruits at the Fire Academy and Training School in Jamestown, Accra.

The recruits, made up of 843 men and 815 women, form Course 55 and have officially joined the ranks of the Service.

In a press release dated June 20,2025, Muntaka disclosed that the new scheme also provides GH¢50,000.00 for firefighters who sustain non-permanent injuries in the line of duty.

He however said that officers who die natural deaths while still in service will also receive GH¢50,000.00 for their families.

Muntaka said the initiative aims to boost morale and provide financial security for officers, describing it as ‘just the beginning’ of broader efforts to improve the welfare and working conditions of GNFS personnel.

“This is just the beginning. We are committed to improving welfare packages, logistics support, and working conditions for our gallant fire officers, whose sacrifices often go unnoticed”, he stated.

He also used the occasion to warn the public, especially the youth, against making prank calls to emergency lines, noting that such actions delay real-life interventions and could cost lives.

He expressed concern over the continued misuse of emergency services.

The Minister further described the 2.3 percent decline in fire incidents between the first quarters of 2024 and 2025 as a ‘small victory,’ but stressed the need for increased public cooperation and preventive measures to reduce fire outbreaks across the country.

He Wants To Use Ato Forson For His Campaign—Ghanaians In Shóck As Ken Agyapong To Appeal To Forson

News Hub Creator39min

Former Member of Parliament Kennedy Agyapong has announced plans to appeal to the Finance Minister to facilitate the payment of outstanding ex-gratia to Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs). This move aims to address the long-standing issue of unpaid allowances to these local government officials, who play a crucial role in implementing government policies and providing essential services to their constituents.

The ex-gratia payments are a form of allowance paid to MMDCEs for their service. However, many have gone unpaid for extended periods, causing financial strain on these officials. Agyapong’s decision to intervene highlights the challenges faced by MMDCEs and the need for timely payment of their allowances. By advocating for the payment of these outstanding allowances, Agyapong is bringing attention to the importance of supporting local government officials and ensuring they can carry out their duties without financial strain.

The payment of ex-gratia to MMDCEs is a significant issue that affects the functioning of local governments. These officials are responsible for overseeing various development projects and programs in their respective districts, and their effectiveness is crucial to the implementation of government policies. The payment of their outstanding allowances would not only be a gesture of goodwill but also a recognition of their hard work and dedication to serving their communities.

Agyapong’s appeal to the Finance Minister is expected to bring attention to this matter and potentially lead to a resolution. The payment of outstanding ex-gratia would have a positive impact on the lives of MMDCEs and enable them to continue serving their communities effectively. It would also demonstrate the government’s commitment to supporting local government officials and ensuring they have the resources they need to carry out their duties.

Many people who saw this were amazed as they reacted vigorously while others gave their thoughts and opinions.

The issue of unpaid ex-gratia has been a recurring problem, and Agyapong’s efforts may help to address this challenge. By highlighting the plight of MMDCEs and advocating for their rights, Agyapong is demonstrating his commitment to supporting local government officials and ensuring they receive the compensation they deserve. The outcome of his appeal to the Finance Minister will be closely watched, and it is hoped that a resolution will be reached soon to address the outstanding payments.

Mahama’s resetting agenda is all about ‘no contribution, no chop’

Private legal practitioner, Maurice Ampaw, has stated that opposed to the belief that President John Dramani Mahama’s resetting agenda is to ensure all Ghanaians have a piece of the national cake, his second coming rather aims to satisfy the National Democratic Congress (NDC) party base.

Condemning the practice, Maurice Ampaw asserted that during the 2024 election campaign, the leadership of the NDC agreed to tow a different line by putting Ghanaians first.

“During the 2024 campaign President Mahama, Asiedu Nketia and the former National Chairman met and said that when they win power this time, they are going to take care of more of their party people. It will be like no contribution, no chop. The agenda is to satisfy party people,” he said in an exclusive interview with GhanaWeb on June 21, 2025.

“Also, to think less about Ghanaians and satisfy party people because NDC’s problem is that when they come to power, they think more about Ghanaians and they leave their party people. So, President Mahama winning power and the resetting agenda is to bring everything back to their party base,” he added.

He alleged that the current NDC government is poised to engage its family and friends, as well as, grassroots.

Maurice Ampaw added that, there is also a subtle agenda to take total control of the economy and the government structure; legislature, the executive, and the judiciary.

“You see that, currently, they have suspended Chief Justice Gertrude Torkornoo and have placed Justice Baffoe Bonney as the acting CJ who aligns with their agenda,” he said.

He noted that it is has become apparent that the ruling NDC government is pursuing a political vendetta.

“So, clearly, you see that there’s the issue of vengeance and an agenda to take over everything in the country,” he established.

He also asserted that the NDC has lost focus on governance as they have left the “energy crisis and the bread-and-butter issues” to take on their political opponents for their past actions which is highly discriminatory.

Rising Ghanaian music promoter Ananzo has taken to social media to express his joy after finally receiving the much-anticipated $5,000 cash gift from Nigerian Afrobeats superstar Davido, popularly known as OBO.

In a video making rounds online, Ananzo is seen proudly showing off wads of cash — the exact amount Davido promised him months ago in cedi equivalent — after reposting Ananzo’s viral video in which he passionately jammed to the song “With You.”

Davido had initially made the promise on social media, commenting, “5K US FOR YOU,” in response to Ananzo’s enthusiastic video. The moment instantly garnered massive attention and significantly boosted Ananzo’s online profile.

Despite the buzz, weeks turned into months without the funds being transferred. During that period, Ananzo remained optimistic and grateful, noting in interviews that the exposure alone had already opened doors for him in Ghana’s music industry. He stated, “Even if Davido doesn’t give me the $5,000, the exposure alone…”

But in a surprise twist that has thrilled fans, Davido has now honored his promise.

In the circulating video, one of Davido’s associates is seen presenting the full amount to Ananzo, who wasted no time in celebrating the moment.

Clutching the cash and grinning from ear to ear, Ananzo praised Davido as “the one and only OBO,” thanking him for staying true to his word and changing his life in a major way.

I’ll Resign – Nhyiaeso MP Says After Bawumia’s Endorsement Meeting Listen

0

Tensions are simmering within the New Patriotic Party (NPP) as the Member of Parliament for Nhyiaeso, Dr. Stephen Amoah, has boldly declared that he will resign from his parliamentary position if certain “undemocratic practices” persist within the party’s internal processes.

Speaking in a charged interview on a Kumasi-based radio station shortly after Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia’s high-level endorsement meeting with party executives and MPs, the Nhyiaeso MP, popularly known as “Sticker”, did not hold back in expressing his frustrations.

“I’ll resign if the party keeps going down this path of silencing divergent views and railroading decisions. That’s not the NPP I joined. We must return to the principles of democracy, transparency, and fair competition,” he said emphatically.

The statement, which has since gone viral, is believed to be in reaction to the overwhelming show of support for Dr. Bawumia at a recent closed-door meeting, where several party stalwarts were seen publicly pledging their allegiance to his anticipated flagbearer bid ahead of the 2028 elections. According to Dr. Amoah, this level of early endorsement stifles competition and discourages alternative voices from stepping forward.

While he clarified that he respects Dr. Bawumia and acknowledges his achievements, Dr. Amoah warned against creating what he called a “monolithic party culture” where dissent is seen as disloyalty. “I’m not against Bawumia. But if we allow only one narrative to dominate, we’ll alienate our base and crack the very foundation of the party.”

Insiders say the Nhyiaeso MP has been at odds with certain elements in the party over internal democracy and recent attempts to influence future parliamentary primaries. His latest comments are seen by some as a veiled protest against growing pressure within the NPP for members to fall in line behind Bawumia, despite murmurs of dissatisfaction among grassroots supporters.

Reactions to his comments have been swift and divided. Some party loyalists have praised him for speaking truth to power, calling him “a brave voice in a climate of silence.” Others accuse him of sowing division and threatening party unity.

Dr. Amoah, however, insists his intentions are rooted in principle. “I love this party, but I won’t sit and watch us become what we once opposed. If it means stepping aside, so be it.”

As the NPP gears up for future leadership contests, Dr. Amoah’s dramatic stance has added fuel to growing concerns about internal cohesion and the need for democratic reforms within one of Ghana’s major political parties.

The massive bunker buster the US has dropped on Fordo

0

US President Donald Trump has said that the American military has completed airstrikes on three sites in Iran, marking a significant escalation in the ongoing conflict with Israel.

The airstrikes hit a key uranium enrichment site, Fordo, which had remained unscathed in Israeli attacks so far and is believed to be key to Iran’s nuclear program.

Located 300 feet beneath a mountain, Fordo is where Iran has allegedly tried to enrich uranium for weapons purposes and stockpile the enriched uranium.

The two sites of Natanz and Esfahan, which were earlier struck by the Israeli Air Force, were also hit by the Americans.

Trump said in a Truth social post that “a full payload of bombs” was dropped on Fordo.

Israel’s best chance at destroying the facility at Fordo required an American produced bomb, which is so heavy that it can only be dropped by a US B2 Spirit bomber. The latest bombing seems to have achieved that target, even though the extent of damage at Fordo is still unknown.

The bomb used by the Americans to target Fordo is called the GBU-57 Massive Ordnance Penetrator, or MOP. It is designed to attack “deeply-buried facilities and hardened bunkers and tunnels”, and is meant to destroy targets in well-protected facilities. Israel, or any country other than the US, does not have bombs that can penetrate a site as deep as Fordo.

Story continues below this ad

The GBU-57 MOP

The MOP measures about 20.5 feet in length and 31.5 inches in diameter and weighs about 13,000 kg, according to the US Air Force.

It is designed to penetrate up to 60 m of earth before exploding. The warhead is encased in a special high-performance steel alloy, which is meant to enable it to carry a large explosive payload while maintaining the penetrator case’s integrity during impact, according to an Air Force fact sheet.

The Fordo site is about 90 metres in depth. It is not clear how much damage the bombings have done in Fordo.

Aerospace company Boeing developed the GBU-57, and as of 2015, it had been contracted to produce 20 of them, according to the Air Force quoted by CBS.

Nkyinkyim says band music pays, but only with proper investment

0

The Nkyinkyim band has cautioned that Ghana’s music industry cannot thrive if artistes, particularly bands, continue to ignore the importance of reinvestment in their craft.

Speaking on JoyNews’ E Vibes Musical Band Series, members of the group stressed that while band music is a profitable venture, it requires deliberate and sustained investment to yield long-term results.

“A-list artistes are reinvesting in themselves. Some of them spend up to $15,000 on just a video or photoshoot. It is not just money being spent; it is money being invested in their brand,” one member explained.

The band criticised what they called a problematic mindset that has taken root among many live music groups in Ghana.

“Our band culture often follows a ‘play and cash out’ approach. People go, perform, collect the money, and move on without putting anything back into the music. That attitude is gradually killing the band system,” they said.

Over the years, Nkyinkyim has become a symbol of professionalism in the live music space, with a growing reputation for both artistic excellence and business acumen.

Their warning reflects broader challenges within Ghana’s music industry, where financial literacy and long-term business planning are often overlooked. Many musicians, particularly those outside the mainstream spotlight, struggle to balance their artistic goals with sustainable financial practices.

The E Vibes Musical Band Series, where the interview took place, seeks to highlight stories like theirs. Through in-depth interviews, behind-the-scenes moments and live performances, the series captures the challenges and triumphs of Ghanaian bands, giving viewers a closer look at the rhythms that keep these groups together.

For Nkyinkyim, the message is simple but powerful: if you want to reap the rewards of music, you must be willing to sow into it.

Mahama appoints Kalsoume Sinare Ghana’s Ambassador to Spain

0

President John Dramani Mahama has appointed celebrated veteran actress Kalsoume Sinare as ambassador to the Kingdom of Spain.

The appointment is, however, subject to parliamentary approval.

According to a letter from the Office of the President dated June 10, 2025, and signed by Secretary to the President, Callistus Mahama, PhD, these nominations were made after consultations with the Council of State, in accordance with Article 74 of the 1992 Constitution.

Kalsoume Sinare has appeared in over fifty films, including Babina, Trinity, and Sala, for which she received a Golden Actress award in the Drama category.

She became “immensely popular” in Ghana after she played the lead role in Babina, a religiously-themed horror film.

She has appeared in over fifty films, including 4ever Young.

‘He likes it dirty and bushy’

File photo of a woman domestically abused File photo of a woman domestically abused

In a deeply emotional and startling revelation, the wife of a high-ranking pastor from one of Ghana’s most influential Pentecostal churches has opened up about the distressing and unusual dynamics within her marriage, raising serious concerns about emotional neglect, sexual health, and the hidden struggles faced by some women behind the church pulpit.

Married for several years to a man widely respected for his spiritual leadership and discipline, the woman, whose identity remains protected, shared her story on TV3’s Confessions programme.

What began as a dream relationship, she said, has gradually turned into a source of deep frustration and unhappiness.

“I have a husband who is a pastor of one of the biggest Pentecostal churches. We dated for two years without sex. But in my head, I felt maybe he wasn’t manly enough, that’s why he made that decision. One day, during one of his visits to my place, I decided to romance him just to see if he was really manly. Trust me, I liked what I saw. Every woman would have liked it. It was very huge and long. So I said to myself, ‘This man is for me.’ I was so proud of him—because if you are that long and still have self-control, then I must be the luckiest lady who’s going to enjoy everything.”

According to her, problems began immediately after their wedding when her husband rejected a simple request: her desire to take a shower before intimacy.

“So, three years into our dating, we got married. On our wedding night, we didn’t do anything because we were so tired. The next day, we promised ourselves it would happen. After the thanksgiving service, we returned to our hotel and I quickly wanted to take a shower because I was sweaty from all the dancing. But he told me not to bathe because he likes it ‘dirty’. In my head, I thought, how can someone like it that way? I was sweaty. But after going back and forth, I gave in and let him do what he wanted. Honestly, ever since that moment, I haven’t been happy in my marriage.”

She revealed that her husband has repeatedly insisted that she neither bathe nor shave before sex—a demand that has since become a daily rule in their marriage.

“Would you believe me if I told you I haven’t shaved since we got married? Every morning, he tells me not to shave before he goes to work. And when he wants to have sex, he tells me not to take a bath that entire day. So if he wants it today, it means I can’t bathe all day. It has been extremely frustrating. I don’t know if this is normal. I’ve been treating yeast infections repeatedly, and he doesn’t even care. Whether I have an infection or not, he will still lick it clean before penetrating. Because of how bushy it is, it becomes painful when he tries to do what he wants to do.”

The woman says she now feels emotionally trapped and physically worn out—caught between keeping up appearances as a pastor’s wife and silently suffering behind closed doors.

Former President Akufo-Addo’s Appointees Who Remained Under Mahama’s 2025 Government

Former President Akufo-Addo’s Appointees Who Remained Under Mahama’s 2025 Government

News Hub Creator12h

When President John Dramani Mahama resumed office in January 2025, expectations were high for a sweeping reorganization of the government’s leadership. As anticipated, his administration released a fresh lineup of ministers and regional executives, signaling a deliberate break from the Nana Akufo-Addo era. This shift quickly became evident in the absence of any former high-ranking officials from the previous New Patriotic Party (NPP) government in Mahama’s cabinet.

As of June 2025, there is no public record indicating that any key minister from Akufo-Addo’s administration has been retained. Prominent figures such as former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta, former Information Minister Kojo Oppong Nkrumah, and former Communications Minister Ursula Owusu-Ekuful were all excluded from the new government’s leadership team. Instead, Mahama relied on a combination of trusted allies from his earlier tenure and fresh appointees aligned with his renewed agenda.

Among the major appointments were Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson as Minister for Finance, John Jinapor as Minister for Energy, Haruna Iddrisu for Education, and Sam George as Minister for Communications. These selections reflect Mahama’s strategic effort to assemble a team that supports his policy goals and is loyal to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) vision for governance. The reshuffle is widely viewed as a clear statement of direction—one that distances the current administration from the legacy of its immediate predecessor.
