Prof Michael Ayamga-Adongo, Acting Deputy CEO of EPA (Operations)
The Acting Deputy CEO (Operations) of the Environmental Protection Authority (EPA), Prof Michael Ayamga-Adongo, has called on institutions to prioritise mental health support.
According to Prof Ayamga-Adongo, mental health affects everyone, and workplaces must take proactive steps to address it.
“We are all mad at a certain degree. You can go to work and one pressure can get you to snap. The guidance and counselling unit at the work place can help you cool off in order to continue with productivity,” he said.
He emphasised that institutions should include mental health in their health insurance coverage for staff and also establish dedicated guidance and counselling units in their offices.
Prof Ayamga-Adongo stressed that prioritising mental health is both a moral obligation and a strategic business decision, as a mentally-healthy workforce is more productive and capable of driving organisational success.
“Mental health in the workplace has far-reaching implications for society and the global economy. Prioritising mental health is not merely a moral obligation; it is a strategic business decision. A mentally-healthy workforce is a productive one, capable of driving great organisational success,” he indicated.
He said this on the JoyNews AM Show monitored by GhanaWeb on April 29, 2025, while urging work organisations to take concrete steps to support their employees’ mental well-being, noting that mental health awareness should be a year-round effort.

Accra, April 29, GNA–Representatives of the National Peace Councils and Committees within the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) are meeting in Accra to plan towards forming a common regional platform to advancing peace and security in the sub-region.
This has become necessary following recurring violent extremism and increasing political instability within the sub-region in recent years.
Mali, Burkina Faso and Niger officially withdrew from ECOWAS in January 2025 due to military takeovers and upsurge in extremist activities in those countries.
Speaking during the opening session of a three-day ECOWAS Regional Meeting on Peace and Mediation in Accra, Dr George Amoh, the Executive Secretary, Ghana’s National Peace Council, said the meeting would provide an opportunity for ECOWAS member states to share ideas and experiences towards advancing peace and security in the sub-region.
The meeting, he said, would also help in strengthening peace infrastructures in ECOWAS member states to ensure timely resolution of local conflicts, advancing good governance practices and entrenching democratic principles in the sub-region.
Dr Amoh observed that peace and security were essential tools for promoting socio-economic development and underscored the need for member states to have strategic frameworks to deal with local conflict situations before escalating into national crises.
Ms Anna Lixi, Head of Governance and Security, European Union Delegation in Ghana, said the ECOWAS’ Peace, Security and Governance Project was in line with the European Union’s (EU) strategic framework to prevent conflicts in Africa.
She pledged the EU’s commitment to providing logistical and technical support to peace councils in ECOWAS member states to curb local conflicts.
“EU’s partnership with ECOWAS demonstrates our commitment to peacebuilding and part of wider efforts to supporting Africa-led solution to attaining national and regional peace and security,” she said.
It is expected that at the end of the three-day meeting, the participants would issue a communique on the consensus reached on establishing a common regional platform in preventing conflicts in the sub-region.

Political analyst, Dr Kwame Asah-Asante, has called on the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to suspend its current activities and return to the drawing board, citing unresolved internal conflicts that threaten party cohesion and grassroots mobilisation.
Speaking on the JoyNews News Desk on Tuesday, April 29, Dr Asah-Asante stressed the urgent need for the party to re-evaluate its internal dynamics before moving forward with its broader political agenda.
“I believe they have to abort the whole programme and then get to the drawing board, get to the basis and get the basis right,” he said.
“Let them set up a body that will look out wholly [for] the conflicts that exist within the party [and] try and deal with that,” he continued.
According to Dr Asah-Asante, internal divisions within the party, if left unaddressed, could severely undermine its chances in future elections.
He warned that such issues often embolden discontented members to openly confront party leadership, thereby destabilising internal structures and weakening public perception.
“Once you deal with that, you will be inundated with a lot of calls to get the grassroots energised,” he noted.
He further noted that internal discontent within the Party (NPP) is beginning to surface publicly, as some bold party members openly challenge the leadership.
“But once there are problems there, those who are bold will come and confront the leadership — and as we are seeing, it’s playing out now,” he said.
He urged the NPP leadership to take a critical and measured approach to the situation, recommending a strategic pause and internal review as necessary first steps towards restoring unity and focus.
“I believe they have to take a critical look at this and then be measured in this regard,” he concluded.

The one-week remembrance ceremony of the late veteran disc jockey (DJ)and staff member of the Multimedia Group Limited, Samuel Tei Mensah Nartey, popularly known as DJ Awana, took place at the Aggrey Road School Park near old Adom FM in Tema Community 2.
DJ Awana passed away at the 37 Military Hospital in Accra on Sunday, April 6, 2025, after a brief illness. The cause of his death is yet to be made public.
DJ Awana’s death came as a shock to fans and figures across the industry, with tributes flooding social media following his death.
Following the announcement of the veteran DJ’s passing, a number of his colleagues, well-known individuals and ardent fans posted condolences on social media.
They stated that the music business has lost a comrade who had spent his entire life entertaining music lovers.
They pointed out that DJ Awana was a legend DJ in Ghanaian music, and that his departure is undoubtedly a great loss for the whole music business.
The one week ceremony attracted high profile personalities in the creative industry, includingcolleagues from the Multimedia Group Limited (MGL), among others, who were at the venue to commiserate with the family.
Some of the personalities at the event include the Chief Operating Officer (COO) of MGL, Ken Ansah; former Adom FM Programmes Manager, Daddy Bosco; General Manager of Adom Brands, Abdulai Awudu; General Manager for Joy Brands, Fiifi Koomson; Adom FM Programmes Manager, Joshua Tigo, Asempa FM Programmes Manager, Philip Osei Bonsu alongside several presenters and other members of staff.
Gospel musicians such as Mary Ghansah and Celestine Donkor delivered soul-lifting performances that touched the hearts of all present.
Celestine Donkor and her husband Kofi Donkor donated GH₵500 to the family and further pledged to support DJ Awana’s children through to their university education — a gesture that moved many.
Colleagues from the Multimedia Group also donated GH₵4,000 and 20 packs of bottled water to the bereaved family.
Meanwhile, the family has announced that DJ Awana will be laid to rest on September 27, 2025 at the Prampram Cemetery.
Former Secretary of the defunct Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), Charles Bissue, has reiterated his innocence over 15 criminal charges levelled against him and his alleged accomplice, Andy Thomas Owusu, for corruption and abuse of public office.
“For the record, I categorically assert that I have always acted in full compliance with both the legal and ethical obligations of the office I held and the laws of the Republic of Ghana. Any suggestion of misconduct is baseless and will be vigorously challenged through due process,” Mr Bissue responded barely 24 hours after the case was filed in court, via a press release.
The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) filed the criminal charges on April 28, in relation to the widely publicised ‘Galamsey Fraud’ investigation, as documented in the 2019 Tiger Eye P.I. report.
Even though Mr Bissue was initially cleared by the previous government, the OSP reopened the case and has proceeded with criminal prosecutions.
The charges, filed at the High Court (Criminal Division) in Accra, allege that between January and February 2019, Mr Bissue, while serving as IMCIM Secretary, corruptly accepted bribes totalling GHC35,000 from one Benjamin Adjapong, directly and through Owusu, to fast-track the renewal of an expired mining licence for ORR Resources Enterprise without proper documentation.
In return, Bissue allegedly issued fraudulent permits and stickers declaring ORR Resources compliant with mining laws.
Mr Bissue, who is preparing to defend himself in court, says, “I welcome the OSP’s decision to proceed with this case after more than five years of deliberation. To ensure transparency and fairness, I expect the OSP to submit to the court a complete, unedited, and unaltered version of the video documentary referenced in these proceedings. Ghanaians deserve access to the unvarnished truth and factual evidence, free from distortion or misdirection by external narratives or selective interpretations”.
The former presidential staffer under the New Patriotic Party (NPP) government added: “I remain fully committed to cooperating with the proceedings and trust that the courts will adjudicate this matter impartially and conclusively.”
He believes the timing of the prosecution, “occurring under a different government than the one in which I previously served, shows the importance of impartial judicial proceedings”.
“It is my sincere hope that this process will allow all parties an equitable opportunity to present evidence and that the facts will be evaluated fairly, without bias. Above all, I firmly believe that the pursuit of truth and justice must prevail. I urge the public to respect the legal process and refrain from premature judgments. The people of Ghana deserve transparency, accountability, and a resolution rooted in the rule of law,” he stressed.
The IMCIM, established in 2017 to combat illegal mining (galamsey), was dissolved in 2021 after corruption scandals, including Bissue’s alleged involvement in misappropriating excavators and gold nuggets.
In November 2024, the Human Rights Court dismissed the final in a series of suits filed by Charles Bissue aimed at preventing the Office of the Special Prosecutor from arresting, investigating, or charging him.
Mr Bissue had previously obtained a 10-day ex parte injunction restraining the OSP from arresting him, alleging that the warrant issued was unlawfully procured and intended to harass him.
He also sought a declaration that a notice marking him as wanted was void.
In its judgment, the court found Bissue’s claims entirely unfounded, stating there was no evidence to support his allegations. The central question was whether an arrest warrant had indeed been issued by the Kaneshie District Court for OSP against Bissue.
The court ruled that it was Bissue’s responsibility to provide proof of such a warrant, which he failed to do.
The judge concluded that no warrant had been issued and dismissed the claim as a figment of the imagination of Bissue and awarded costs of GHC10,000 against him.
This ruling cleared the path for the OSP to continue its investigations into Mr Bissue’s involvement with the defunct IMCIM and, in another separate case, pursue charges related to allegations of corruption as depicted in the Tiger Eye P.I. documentary Galamsey Fraud Part 1.

Acting Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority, Edudzi Tameklo
The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority, Edudzi Tameklo, has rejected claims that President John Dramani Mahama intends to amend Ghana’s 1992 Constitution to run for a third term.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, Edudzi Tameklo emphasised President Mahama’s deep respect for the constitution and his fidelity to it.
“President John Dramani Mahama has demonstrated deep respect for the rule of law and even greater fidelity to the 1992 Constitution. President Mahama has no plans to amend the constitution to allow for a third term,” he wrote.
Recounting President Mahama’s political journey, Edudzi, who is also a legal practitioner, described as unfortunate the attempt by the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Justin Frimpong Kodua, to link the ongoing process for the removal of the Chief Justice to a supposed agenda by the president to seek a third term in office.
“We are talking about a man whom God has blessed and given a unique opportunity and experience that no other person in Ghana currently possesses. From the position of deputy minister and subsequently minister, to the position of Member of Parliament representing the great people of Bole Bamboi for 12 years. He became the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, won a presidential election, and served as the elected resident from 2013 to 2016. He lost an election and went into opposition for 8 years, learning lessons of loyalty and betrayal. He emerged from this deep sense of reflection and humility to win an unprecedented landslide, marking a comeback.
“In the next 100 years in the life of Ghana, only 25 people can become president of this country. That places President Mahama among the few who have served as president. The claim by the General Secretary of the NPP, who led the party into opposition, that President Mahama has plans to amend the constitution to allow for a third term in office, as the reason for the impeachment process against the suspended Chief Justice, is most unfortunate,” he stated.
Edudzi, who also serves as the Director of Legal Affairs for the National Democratic Congress, urged the public to ignore the claim by the NPP General Secretary, noting that no correlation exists between the process for the removal of the Chief Justice and the ongoing constitutional amendment process.
“The process to amend the constitution has little to do with the Chief Justice. There is no nexus. It is a calculated, sinister attempt to court public disaffection for President Mahama. I have no doubt that President Mahama appreciates the great honor bestowed upon him by the good people of Ghana for serving in those various capacities. Ghanaians must ignore and treat with contempt the unfounded claims by Justin Kodua. President Mahama has given a clear indication of what he intends to do upon retirement: go into farming and help grow a new crop of giants in agribusiness,” he stated.

The three Indian nationals arrested for smuggling gold with officials of the GoldBod
Three (3) suspected gold smugglers have been arrested by the GoldBod security taskforce.
The three suspects, Goutam Katriya, 35, Miraj Sarvaych, 22, Manash Damani, 42, are Indian nationals who are in the business of trading gold in Kumasi and Accra for Unique MM, a company allegedly owned by one Musah Salifu.
The suspects were arrested at their private residence around Atinga Junction in Kumasi, which has been converted into a gold trading center on April 28, 2025.
The arrest was based on a tip off from a patriotic whistle blower that the suspects were purchasing gold at “black market” rate for the purpose of smuggling.
The suspects were arraigned before the Achimota Circuit court on April 28, 2025, and remanded into custody for a period of two (2) weeks.
At a press conference in Accra, the Director of Investigations at National Security, Chief Superintendent Osman Alhassan, disclosed that an amount of 1.9 million cedis, 4,500 rupees, 4.363 kilograms of gold, two counting machines, a CCTV recorder and an Indian passport were found in the possession of the suspects.
Preliminary investigations by National Security so far revealed, that none of the three suspects possess a valid license that allows them to purchase or deal in gold in the country.
The suspects who been dealing in gold in Ghana for over a decade, have not been able to adduce any residence permit or work permit or tax payment records on their business operations.
Additionally, it’s been revealed that Musah Salifu, a Ghanaian, who is alleged to be the sole shareholder of the Unique MM, is only a front for Goutam Katriya, the real beneficial owner and alter ego of the company.
Chief Superintendent Osman Alhassan cautioned both Ghanaians and foreign nationals against violating the provisions of the Ghana Gold Board Act and other laws governing the gold trading sector of the country.
“This arrest is only the beginning of GoldBod’s ruthless war against illegal gold trading and gold smuggling. The suspects are to remain in NIB custody until May 12, 2025, when they are expected to reappear before the court.
In a related matter, the GoldBod has reiterated its directive for all foreigners in the gold trading sector to exit the market by 30th April, 2025.
All persons dealing in gold have also been directed to trade in Ghana cedis and at the Bank of Ghana Reference Rate.
A breach of these directive, shall constitute a punishable offense under the GoldBod Act, 2025 (ACT 1140).

Real estate is one of the best investments you can make because you can earn double-digit returns with the right deal. Once you find the right deal, you’ll have a superior asset compared to stocks and other alternative investments. There are many segments of real estate you can invest in, but one popular segment that has seen a massive shift in popularity is multifamily real estate.
Times have changed, with fewer people wanting to purchase homes and take care of maintenance, especially with rising interest rates. Seniors are also opting for apartments and senior housing to have less to worry about.
I took advantage of real estate investing by strategically finding deals that I could purchase below market value. This enabled me to make money on day one of purchasing the property. When I look for real estate deals, I search for apartment buildings and vacant land for development. These assets are low-risk investments that can be recession-resistant if you choose the right locations.
Your investment goal in real estate should be to replace all your earned income from the job you work with passive income from your real estate investments. Real estate is a powerful tool to multiply your money.
1. Finding assets below market value
When I look at new real estate deals, I focus on purchasing them below market value. This means you should find deals off-market with less competition bidding on the property, or it could mean that the current owner of the property is charging lower rents than the market. You can achieve this by reaching out to property owners and real estate brokers within your market.
Relationships are a massive key to achieving success in real estate. Research which companies own real estate in your market, drive around the areas in your hometown with the most traffic, and see what opportunities are available. There are dozens of opportunities available to place your money into real estate.
The assets you purchase should be well-located. The location of the property will determine its value. If you go under contract to acquire a building, make sure you conduct thorough due diligence. Ensure the property’s capital expenditures (sidewalks, roofs, exterior) have not been neglected or delayed in replacement.
2. Increase the value of the property
Once you acquire the property, the first thing you need to do is implement your investment strategy. If you purchased a piece of land, determine how you will add value to it. Will you rezone it, construct a building on it, flip it, or all three? Maybe you’re purchasing an existing building, and your goal should be to increase rents or spend money on the property to increase its value.
Before you purchase a property, you have to see an opportunity and have a gut instinct about what you’re going to do very quickly. Search for ways to add value to your investment that will return your money with a profit. Determine how much money you need to spend to improve the value and what the return on investment looks like.
3. Optimize expenses to increase profit
One trick to quickly increasing the value of your property is to review third-party contracts for vendors that service the property. Depending on who the prior owner used, you could find a better-priced vendor that produces the same value for your property. When you take over a property, quote other people so you can compare pricing.
Find other options that can do the work for a better price. If you can shave down your expenses and make them more efficient, while still achieving the same value, you will increase your return on investment.
Look at your maintenance costs and determine what the largest repair costs are. When you have the right information, you can use it to your advantage and improve the performance of your investments. Find out what is costing the most money to maintain the property and try to value-engineer it.
4. Review the upside potential
This is my favorite part about investing in real estate. After you purchase an asset, you have to put together an investment plan for how much money you will spend to improve it. You have to carefully review the costs and compare them to the upside.
Say, for example, you are renovating an apartment complex. Your renovation plan can include new kitchen cabinets, granite countertops, modern paint colors, new appliances, and new flooring. This may cost you anywhere between $10,000 to $20,000 per unit, but you could potentially increase rent by $400 per month. If you can do this at scale, you will generate massive returns.
Before you start this process, you should develop a budget to determine how much your improvements will cost. Your rent or increase in property value should pay back your costs within a three- to four-year timeline or generate at least $80,000 if you spent $20,000.
5. Maintain the property
Once you have assets under management, make sure you take care of your tenants to increase your retention rates. After you create an attractive place to rent, keeping your tenants happy is your final priority for long-term success. The less turnover you have, the fewer new tenants you have to find to occupy your property each year.
Make sure capital improvements are kept up to date, including roofs, sidewalks, parking lots, and common areas. Property maintenance is often an overlooked aspect of investing. If you don’t keep up with the maintenance, you may take a price cut when you decide to sell in the future.
Maximizing your earning potential by investing in real estate is one of the best paths to take. Your money will be useless if you spend it on things that don’t generate a return or if you don’t let it work for you. When you focus on these five steps I’ve outlined and stay on track, it will only be a matter of time until you see success!

Violence has flared up in restive northeastern Nigeria in recent days
At least 26 people have been killed as a truck hit an improvised explosive device in Nigeria’s restive northeast.
The blast on Monday killed men, women and children in Borno State, near the border with Cameroon, according to the military and residents. The region has been plagued for decades by armed groups including the ISIL affiliate in West Africa Province (ISWAP) and Boko Haram, with violence flaring up in recent days.
“Twenty-six people died in the blast, comprising of 16 men, four women and six children,” a military officer speaking on condition of anonymity told the AFP news agency, adding that three further passengers were severely injured.
Borno State police offered no immediate comment.
The International NGO Safety Organisation, which provides security to foreign nongovernmental organisations in northeast Nigeria, said in an internal memo seen by the Reuters news agency that vehicles moving between the towns of Rann and Gamboru Ngala hit an IED.
“I took part in the funeral of the 26 people killed in the explosion; most of them were burned beyond recognition,” Akram Saad, a resident of the nearby town Rann, told AFP.
A video showed rows of bodies in white plastic bags laid on the floor of the morgue at Rann’s general hospital.
No one has claimed responsibility for the attack. But Abba Amma Muhammad, whose mother was killed, blamed the incident on Boko Haram.
Violence flares
Boko Haram’s uprising has plagued northeast Nigeria for the past 15 years, killing more than 40,000 people. The government has asserted that the groups are largely defeated, despite the persisting attacks.
ISWAP is also active in northern Borno and has launched sporadic ambushes on convoys and planted landmines along its highways.
The blast comes amid a flare-up of violence in northeast Nigeria in recent days, with the death toll rising to at least 50 people.
Boko Haram killed about 10 “vigilantes” from the Civilian Joint Task Force (CJTF) in the state of Adamawa, sources reported earlier on Monday, according to AFP.
On Thursday, the group killed 14 farmers in Borno’s Gwoza district, a local official said.
Borno State governor Babagana Umara Zulum on Friday told Nigeria’s defence minister and military chiefs that Boko Haram and ISWAP were entrenching themselves in Lake Chad islands, Sambisa Forest and Mandara mountains on the border with Cameroon as a result of “military setbacks”.

Funerals are a big part of the Ghanaian culture. They hold deep cultural and at times spiritual significance for families and while it marks a transition from life to the other world, the belief is that, the dead must be laid to rest with respect and dignity.
But, a trend is emerging in Ghanaian funerals. This ugly head is the excessive handling, public parading and display of corpses which has little to no cultural or mourning justification.
It is now not uncommon to see dead bodies often on social media platforms, as they lie in state positioned to mimic the profession or hobby of the deceased with mourners directly handling the loved one in ways that leave anyone to wonder.
While these acts may be interpreted by some as expressions of love or homage, they frequently fall outside the boundaries of accepted practices. Even if culturally important, it poses serious public health risks.
Respecting the dead and protecting the living are not mutually exclusive. Back in 2005, the UN Commission on Human Rights called attention to the importance of treating human remains with dignity. The resolution underscored the need for safe handling, respectful disposal and compassion for the families left behind.
It stressed that handling the dead is not just a matter of human rights but a public health necessity. Which is why this article is a good place to start.
In Ghana, the health risks surrounding corpse management is a pressing yet often overlooked issue. Improper handling of corpses presents several risks, especially where Infection Prevention and Control (IPC) measures are not rigorously followed.
Without appropriate intervention from appropriate authorities, it has a high potential for localised disease outbreaks and increased mortality among vulnerable population as well as the erosion of public trust in the already overwhelming health system.
Individuals who come into unprotected contact with dead bodies may unknowingly expose themselves and others to life-threatening infections either through dermal contact, inhalation or ingestion.
During the early stages of decomposition, bodies can still harbour dangerous pathogens — including those that cause hepatitis, tuberculosis, cholera among other infectious diseases.
While formalin is widely used locally for embalming, its main ingredient – formaldehyde, is a known carcinogen [cancer-causing agent]. The prolonged exposure of this without proper protective gear can lead to respiratory problems, dermal [skin] irritation and ocular [eye] complications.
As bodies break down, they also emit gases and fluids that attract insects and scavengers which are potential carriers of disease. These vectors can transport pathogens from corpses into homes and public spaces, contaminate the nearby environment, soil and water sources facilitating disease spread and posing a broader threat to public health.
To reverse the impact of this growing craze on environmental and human health, local authorities – especially Metropolitan, Municipal, and District Assemblies (MMDAs) must step up and bring these unsafe practices to an end.
They must enforce section 50 of the Public Health Act 2012 (Act 851) as well the Criminal Offences Act 1960 (Act 29). These laws provide clear legal grounds on the hinderance of the disposal of dead bodies. If not, there will be huge risk of disease burden.
Indigenes should also be talked to in ways that matter. Going forward, health authorities must develop clear and practical protocols for funeral management within their catchment zones. The guidelines must be actionable, culturally-aware and must cover everything from how to view bodies safely to how to transport them without putting communities at risk.
Obviously, public education campaigns through community, religious, traditional and opinion leaders is one of the big steps to the socio-behavioural change communication. These leasers can help reframe the public understanding of the dangers associated with mishandling the dead.
Ghanaians must rethink how they treat the dead these days. This is not any way a cultural shift but a looming public health concern. The gaps in compliance and regulation would only make us worse off and contribute to a growing public health burden.

Former New Patriotic Party National Chairman, Freddie Blay
A former New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman, Freddie Blay, has questioned critics calling for the release of the Mike Oquaye Report, which looked into his party’s defeat in the 2024 general elections.
Speaking in a snippet of an interview on GHOne TV, shared on X on April 28, 2025, Freddie Blay asserted that sharing the entire report would not be in the party’s interest.
He explained that the party’s release can lead to some divisions within the party and that it is tantamount to the party revealing its secrets.
“I’ve had snippets of the content of the report… We have not been briefed. We talked about it. But not the full text of the report. Why should we? I want to ask you… I mean, it’s talking about what happened and the way forward.
“These are what I will refer to as trade secrets. These are our reports that we have to keep very, very sensitive. It contains a few reports, a few statements by individuals and groups that, if you make it public, we may be fighting against each other for no good,” he said.
Freddie Blay also said that publishing the whole report can give opponents of the NPP the ammunition to harm it.
“Besides that, we have opponents who may also read it. We’ve learned some lessons from the past. If you give it up and people read it… instead of using it to help the cause of our party, some may use it against the party,” he said.
He added; “So, the necessary parts of it, which may not lead to confusion, misrepresentation, or mishandling, definitely, we will let the party members know.”
An 11-member committee led by former Speaker of Parliament, Prof Mike Oquaye, was formed by the leadership of the New Patriotic Party to look into the party’s 2024 Election defeat.
The committee was given three months to complete its job, and it submitted its report to the National Council of the NPP early in April 2025.
The committee’s mandate included examining the internal elections and campaign plan, determining the issues that caused the electoral loss, and suggesting remedies.
Following a fierce contest, former President John Dramani Mahama made a stunning comeback to government when he was proclaimed the victor of the 2024 presidential election.
On December 9, the Electoral Commission (EC) declared that Mahama had received 6,328,397 votes, or 56.55% of the total votes cast.
His primary NPP opponent, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, received 4,657,304 votes, or 41.61% of the total votes.
In addition, Mahama’s victory gave the National Democratic Congress (NDC) a significant triumph by securing a majority in Parliament.

Former Secretary to the Inter-Ministerial Committee on Illegal Mining (IMCIM), Charles Cromwell Nanabanyin Onuawonto Bissue, has issued a firm response to a writ filed by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), which seeks to prosecute him and Andy Thomas Owusu for alleged corruption and misuse of public office for profit.
In a statement released on Tuesday, April 29, Bissue confirmed that the OSP had initiated legal proceedings related to the controversial Galamsey Fraud documentary published by investigative outfit Tiger Eye P.I. in 2019.
Rejecting the accusations, Bissue said: “I categorically assert that I have always acted in full compliance with both the legal and ethical obligations of the office I held and the laws of the Republic of Ghana. Any suggestion of misconduct is baseless and will be vigorously challenged through due process.”
He further called for transparency in the trial, urging the OSP to present a complete, unedited, and unaltered version of the investigative video forming the basis of the prosecution. According to him, this is critical to ensure that the truth is fully revealed, without distortion.
Bissue also noted the timing of the case, highlighting that the prosecution is being pursued under a new administration, different from the one in which he served. Emphasizing the importance of fairness, he said: “It is my sincere hope that this process will allow all parties an equitable opportunity to present evidence and that the facts will be evaluated fairly, without bias.”
Reaffirming his intention to fully cooperate with the legal process, Bissue appealed for public restraint and trust in the judicial system.
“I urge the public to respect the legal process and refrain from premature judgments. The people of Ghana deserve transparency, accountability, and a resolution rooted in the rule of law,” he stated.

The Ghana Police Service has commenced investigations into an alleged case of kidnapping and assault involving a female adult, which was captured in a viral video making rounds on social media.

Ghanaian musician Kunta Kinte has shared a detailed account of the circumstances that led to his health challenges.
In an interview on Asaasepa FM, Kunta Kinte addressed rumours that his stroke condition was caused by reckless lifestyle.
He dismissed such claims, emphasising that his popularity and the attention he received from women had no connection to his health condition.
“I had swag, the ladies were all over me but that is not why I had a stroke,” he stated.
The rapper recounted that his health ordeal began at the University of Ghana.
According to him, he was feeling unwell with what he suspected to be malaria and sought treatment at the university’s hospital.
However, he indicated that due to the high number of patients at the health facility, he was forced to wait over an hour before receiving medical attention.
According to him, this delay worsened his condition.
“When it started, I was in Legon and had a feeling that I had malaria. I went to the hospital, but there were about ten people ahead of me in the queue. I was attended to after an hour and a half, but my condition was worsening.
“When I finally got inside, the doctor indicated that he heard me reacting outside and complained that I was overreacting, saying it was just normal malaria,” he stated.
He narrated further, “Afterward, he injected me, and when I opened my eyes a few moments later, I found that I couldn’t even move. That’s what happened. It’s been 15 years now.”

The Acting Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority, Edudzi Tameklo, has rejected claims that President John Dramani Mahama intends to amend Ghana’s 1992 Constitution to run for a third term.
In a Facebook post on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, Edudzi Tameklo emphasised President Mahama’s deep respect for the constitution and his fidelity to it.
“President John Dramani Mahama has demonstrated deep respect for the rule of law and even greater fidelity to the 1992 Constitution. President Mahama has no plans to amend the constitution to allow for a third term,” he wrote.
Recounting President Mahama’s political journey, Edudzi, who is also a legal practitioner, described as unfortunate the attempt by the General Secretary of the New Patriotic Party, Justin Frimpong Kodua, to link the ongoing process for the removal of the Chief Justice to a supposed agenda by the president to seek a third term in office.
“We are talking about a man whom God has blessed and given a unique opportunity and experience that no other person in Ghana currently possesses. From the position of deputy minister and subsequently minister, to the position of Member of Parliament representing the great people of Bole Bamboi for 12 years. He became the Vice President of the Republic of Ghana, won a presidential election, and served as the elected resident from 2013 to 2016. He lost an election and went into opposition for 8 years, learning lessons of loyalty and betrayal. He emerged from this deep sense of reflection and humility to win an unprecedented landslide, marking a comeback.
“In the next 100 years in the life of Ghana, only 25 people can become president of this country. That places President Mahama among the few who have served as president. The claim by the General Secretary of the NPP, who led the party into opposition, that President Mahama has plans to amend the constitution to allow for a third term in office, as the reason for the impeachment process against the suspended Chief Justice, is most unfortunate,” he stated.
Edudzi, who also serves as the Director of Legal Affairs for the National Democratic Congress, urged the public to ignore the claim by the NPP General Secretary, noting that no correlation exists between the process for the removal of the Chief Justice and the ongoing constitutional amendment process.
“The process to amend the constitution has little to do with the Chief Justice. There is no nexus. It is a calculated, sinister attempt to court public disaffection for President Mahama. I have no doubt that President Mahama appreciates the great honor bestowed upon him by the good people of Ghana for serving in those various capacities. Ghanaians must ignore and treat with contempt the unfounded claims by Justin Kodua. President Mahama has given a clear indication of what he intends to do upon retirement: go into farming and help grow a new crop of giants in agribusiness,” he stated.
The suspects were arrested at their private residence around Atinga Junction in Kumasi
The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Gold Board (GoldBod), Sammy Gyamfi, has announced that three suspected gold smugglers have been arrested by the security taskforce.
According to him, the suspects, Goutam Katriya, Miraj Sarvaych, and Manash Damani were tracked down at their residence near Atinga Junction in Kumasi.
In a post sighted by GhanaWeb Business, the suspects, who are Indian nationals, are involved in gold trading in Kumasi and Accra for Unique MM, a company allegedly owned by one Musah Salifu.
These suspects have been accused of purchasing gold at black market rates for the purpose of smuggling.
The suspects were arraigned before the Achimota Circuit Court on Monday, April 28, 2025, and remanded into custody for two weeks.
At a press conference in Accra, the Director of Investigations at National Security, Chief Superintendent Osman Alhassan, disclosed that an amount of GH¢1.9 million, 4,500 rupees, 4.363 kilograms of gold, two counting machines, a CCTV recorder, and an Indian passport were found in the possession of the suspects.
Preliminary investigations by National Security have so far revealed that none of the three suspects possess a valid license allowing them to purchase or deal in gold in the country.
Although the suspects have been dealing in gold in Ghana for over a decade, they have not provided any residence permit, work permit, or tax payment records related to their business operations.
Additionally, investigations have revealed that Musah Salifu, a Ghanaian allegedly listed as the sole shareholder of Unique MM, is merely a front for Goutam Katriya, the actual beneficial owner and alter ego of the company.
Chief Superintendent Osman Alhassan cautioned both Ghanaians and foreign nationals against violating the provisions of the Ghana Gold Board Act and other laws governing the gold trading sector in the country.
“This arrest is only the beginning of GoldBod’s ruthless war against illegal gold trading and gold smuggling. Crystal Palace forward, Eddie Nketiah, has expressed willingness to play for the Black Stars if called by head coach Otto Addo for upcoming matches.
The former Arsenal striker noted that he gave his best while representing England at the youth level, even though he never played for the senior national team, the ‘Three Lions’.
He asserted that, based on the turn of events in his career, he would be available to join the Black Stars, despite previously rejecting approaches from team officials.
“When I was younger, representing England was an option after progressing through the youth system. But if Ghana invites me, then I’ll be there,” he stated during an interview with The Beautiful Game podcast.
However, it is still unclear if head coach Otto Addo will invite him to play in the next Black Stars games.
Eddie Nketiah was born to Ghanaian parents in England, where he began his football career. He played for Arsenal’s youth team before earning a promotion to the senior team in 2020.
After spending four years with the Gunners, the striker secured a transfer to Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024 in search of regular playing time.
He was close to switching nationality to play for Ghana in 2022, but the move did not materialise, despite securing his Ghanaian passport.
He is eligible to play for Ghana, as he has yet to make three competitive appearances for England.

A touching story of generosity has emerged involving Rashida Saani, who donated $25,000 for a life-saving kidney transplant for former colleague, Claus Ansah Acquah.

“At the end of her program each day, she would quickly get in her car and speed out without hanging around to chat,” Acquah recalled, noting that he understood her rush as she reportedly had other professional commitments.
Ten years after their paths diverged, Rashida discovered Acquah’s GoFundMe campaign seeking support for a kidney transplant. She immediately contacted his wife and provided the full amount needed for the procedure in India.
“She didn’t just save me, she saved my entire generation,” Acquah wrote. “We’ve tried repeatedly to express our gratitude, but she avoids the spotlight for her charitable acts.”

A former New Patriotic Party (NPP) National Chairman, Freddie Blay, has questioned critics calling for the release of the Mike Oquaye Report, which looked into his party’s defeat in the 2024 general elections.
Speaking in a snippet of an interview on GHOne TV, shared on X on April 28, 2025, Freddie Blay asserted that sharing the entire report would not be in the party’s interest.
He explained that the party’s release can lead to some divisions within the party and that it is tantamount to the party revealing its secrets.
“I’ve had snippets of the content of the report… We have not been briefed. We talked about it. But not the full text of the report. Why should we? I want to ask you… I mean, it’s talking about what happened and the way forward.
“These are what I will refer to as trade secrets. These are our reports that we have to keep very, very sensitive. It contains a few reports, a few statements by individuals and groups that, if you make it public, we may be fighting against each other for no good,” he said.
Freddie Blay also said that publishing the whole report can give opponents of the NPP the ammunition to harm it.
“Besides that, we have opponents who may also read it. We’ve learned some lessons from the past. If you give it up and people read it… instead of using it to help the cause of our party, some may use it against the party,” he said.
He added; “So, the necessary parts of it, which may not lead to confusion, misrepresentation, or mishandling, definitely, we will let the party members know.”
An 11-member committee led by former Speaker of Parliament, Prof Mike Oquaye, was formed by the leadership of the New Patriotic Party to look into the party’s 2024 Election defeat.
The committee was given three months to complete its job, and it submitted its report to the National Council of the NPP early in April 2025.
The committee’s mandate included examining the internal elections and campaign plan, determining the issues that caused the electoral loss, and suggesting remedies.
Following a fierce contest, former President John Dramani Mahama made a stunning comeback to government when he was proclaimed the victor of the 2024 presidential election.
On December 9, the Electoral Commission (EC) declared that Mahama had received 6,328,397 votes, or 56.55% of the total votes cast.
His primary NPP opponent, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, received 4,657,304 votes, or 41.61% of the total votes.
In addition, Mahama’s victory gave the National Democratic Congress (NDC) a significant triumph by securing a majority in Parliament.

‘GALAMSEY MUST Fall’ protesters took over some parts of Accra, demonstrating against the ruling government’s inability to solve the illegal mining menace, also known as galamsey, as promised during the lead-up to the December 7 elections, which witnessed the government’s re-election into power.
Organised by Generational Rights Society, a pressure group led by broadcast journalist Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah and other groups of young individuals across the country, the protesters converged at the Obra spot yesterday to demand immediate action from the government through a peaceful demonstration.
Protesters, clad in all red and black attire, were seen with placards that read, “Ghana Must Rise Above Galamsey”, “Protect Our Environment, Stop Galamsey”, “Stop Galamsey Now”, and “Mahama’s Actions are Recipe for Disaster – Narcotic Distribution Congress (NDC)”.
Addressing journalists, Okatakyie Afrifa-Mensah said it was diabolical and unpatriotic for people to suggest that the pressure mounting on President John Mahama and his government on the galamsey fight is unwarranted, given that he was sworn into office barely four months ago.
“So you mean to say if the President assumes the position in four months, the diseases caused by galamsey, like kidney diseases, have also paused and are not going to affect pregnant women and children anymore? And because of that, they will wait for President Mahama to settle in before it begins to affect people’s kidneys?” he quizzed.
Okatakyie Afrifa emphasised that in these same four months, the government has been able to send a bill to Parliament to establish a gold board, with the President operationalising initiatives that seek to suit him and the government, adding that “so it is all about the scale of preference?”
He also alleged that within this short period, the Mahama government has been able to purchase expensive vehicles for his machinery, “the good people are asking because the galamsey activities are still affecting their daily lives, and we are here to remind the government of his promise to the people who voted for him concerning galamsey, as we do not have the luxury of time to wait for him.”
He stated that it does not take one year for the President to use an executive order to reverse this cancer, stressing, “We won’t rest till we see that this menace is over. He must declare a state of emergency.”
Okatakyie Afrifa said the government had shifted from its promise to repeal LI 2462 to amending it, which he says is not in line with their expectations, thereby expressing concerns over the deportation of individuals who destroy water bodies and forests, instead of prosecuting them under the law. He argued that this policy is discriminatory, citing Article 17 of the 1992 Constitution, which prohibits discrimination on the grounds of race or social status.
“We expect the government to repeal LI 2462 as promised, and not amend it. The policy of deporting non-citizens who commit environmental offenses, while citizens face harsh penalties, is discriminatory and unconstitutional,” he added.

A communication team member of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Eric Twum, has dismissed claims of internal disunity within the party, asserting that the ongoing Thank You Tour led by Dr Mahamudu Bawumia is not causing division as some have suggested.
His comments come in response to concerns raised by party stalwart Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko, who on April 28 warned that the tour had veered off its intended purpose of rekindling grassroots support and was instead fueling internal tensions and blame games.
Agyarko described the situation as troubling, urging the party leadership to realign the tour with its original objectives of unity and reconciliation.
Speaking on Channel One TV’s Breakfast Daily on Tuesday, April 29, 2025, Eric Twum refuted these assertions, suggesting that those claiming disunity may themselves be contributing to it.
“There is no disunity. The people who want to see the disunity are probably the ones who are orchestrating it. I don’t see the disunity and I will not sit here to make matters worse.
“Those who are shouting, are people that I have personal problems with because most of the things they are doing are not based on principles.
“Some are now calling for amnesty to be extended to certain persons, and some of the people who are now writing letters and things are the architects behind the suspension of some of these people. If today, all of a sudden they have found their voices, all because Bawumia is going on a Thank You Tour, everyone is now overly excited saying something untoward is happening, there is nothing untoward happening anywhere,” he stated.

Former NPP presidential aspirant, Kennedy Agyapong has made a comment that seems to be rattling the nerves of a section of the public.
Kennedy Agyapong, addressing New Patriotic Party’s faithful at Berekum in Bono Region during the ongoing “Thank You Tour” led by Ghana’s former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, made some statements that have cast him in a negative light.
The former lawmaker, who appeared furious while speaking to the crowd, exclaimed that there are some loudmouths within the New Patriotic Party who have become vociferous just because the party has made them rich.
He added that such persons were nobodies but for the party.
Kennedy Agyapong’s remarks were indirectly targeted at the party’s Bono Regional Chairman, Kwame Baffoe Abronye, who spoke earlier during the function.
Abronye criticised some leading members of the party who, he noted, through their disparaging remarks they made against the NPP and a candidate prior to the 2024 elections, gave the ruling National Democratic Congress a perfect arsenal to use against them which resulted in the humiliating election results for the NPP.
“Arrogance is what has brought us here…If you insult someone and later come to talk about unity, for me, that unity is artificially created,” he said.
Kennedy Agyapong, who didn’t take kindly to Abronye’s comments although the latter didn’t mention his name, gave a blistering reply.
“…nobody is a better man than the other but because of this party, some people talk as if they are men. They are not men…With some, we buy cars for them and they will come out to do ‘too known’,” he fumed.
In his further attempt to spite Abronye, Agyapong took a swipe at people living under poor conditions saying “I have money; I don’t beg. Even you, poor people, think you can talk boldly, how about rich men like me?”
This comment by Kennedy Agyapong has infuriated a section of the public who finds his rants as an affront to people with financial difficulties.
The International Monetary Fund (IMF) has thrown its weight behind Ghana’s Minister of Finance, Dr Cassiel Ato Forson, supporting his assertion that persistent inefficiencies in Ghana’s energy sector represent the most significant threat to its economic stability.
Speaking to Ghanaian journalists during the IMF Spring Meetings in Washington, DC, the IMF Mission Chief for Ghana, Stéphane Roudet, reiterated the fund’s longstanding concerns over financial imbalances within the sector.
He emphasised that reforming the energy sector remains a central pillar of the IMF-supported economic program with Ghana.
Roudet highlighted a key issue undermining stability, citing the persistent gap between the amount of money collected by the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and the actual cost of generating electricity.
“We knew from the beginning of the program that there were challenges related to the energy sector. The main challenge is the large difference between what ECG collects in terms of bills and the costs incurred in the sector. This is what we refer to as the energy sector shortfall,” Roudet said.
Despite these challenges, Roudet expressed confidence in the government’s commitment to meeting the program’s reform targets, describing their efforts as forward-looking and essential to ensuring long-term economic resilience.

A former Director-General of the Ghana Technical and Vocational Education and Training (TVET) Service, David Prah, has warned President John Dramani Mahama and his government to desist from attacking the businesses of opposition leaders.
According to him, Mahama should take a cue from his brother, Ibrahim Mahama, who is also a businessman.
He cautioned that if Mahama continues with such actions, the New Patriotic Party (NPP), when in power, may retaliate by attacking the businesses of Ibrahim Mahama.

He further warned, “We are recording everything that is happening. If you think you are the president and can do all this, remember your brother, Ibrahim Mahama, is also a businessman.
“If you don’t take care and we come to power and destroy Ibrahim Mahama’s business, nobody should come forward saying he is President Kufuor’s relative or anything like that. Chairman Wontumi is also someone’s relative.”
Speaking in an interview on Movement TV on April 25, 2025, Prah emphasized that power is transferable.

According to him, such business alliances proposal, though may seem new in Ghana’s business landscape, are quite common in many developed countries where people combine resources and share the rewards based on the contributions of the individuals.
Richard Nii Armah Quaye will now assume the role of President of RNAQ Holdings, with Bills Micro Credit and Quick Angels as its subsidiaries.
“In my dream, I see a future where the young people have woken up, joined forces and pooled our resources and skills together to take over the economic fortunes of our country. Among us, there are those who have economic resources and those who possess unique skills and promising businesses that require funding and proper guidance,” he said.
“I am calling on young Ghanaians with unique skills, promising ideas, and early-stage businesses to come closer. Let us invest in you, build with you, and rise with you, because this is the only way we will create businesses that do more than survive, to thrive locally, nationally and globally,” he added.
He said his aspiration is not only geared toward uniting young people with financial resources, but also those with promising businesses, to ignite a financial revolution that would make the country self-reliant, while creating a new wave of businesses that anchor on the nation’s economic growth to generate thousands of jobs for the growing youth population.
Mr. Armah Quaye also called on the youth to utilise the opportunities available to them rather than criticising political leaders and dwelling on missed opportunities, which has the tendency to stifle individual’s aspirations and growth.
“As young Ghanaians, I truly believe we are abundantly blessed. We have the talent. We have the resources. We have the ideas. What remains is our mindset, our courage, our unity and the leadership to step boldly into our moment, not tomorrow, but now,” he added.
The new Board Chairman of Bills Micro Credit, Kojo Dei Kwarteng, also thanked Richard Nii Armah Quaye for the confidence reposed in him, and expressed gratitude to the founder for the remarkable foundation put in place to help in sustaining the business, while thanking the Bank of Ghana for the support and guidance in the company’s transition.
Mr. Kwarteng further expressed his commitment to maintaining a strong and transparent relationship with the regulator, as it continues to uphold the highest standards of compliance governance and customer service.

The long-awaited chip-embedded passport was officially launched at a ceremony held at the Passport Office headquarters in Accra.
This advanced passport technology, which has been in development for ten years, replaces the previous version and elevates Ghana’s travel document to global standards.
The new e-passport features enhanced security elements and meets international civil aviation requirements.
The innovative system promises faster and more efficient service delivery, with standard applications processed within 15 working days and expedited services available within 24 hours. Notably, the solution is also cost-effective for both the government and applicants.
As part of the government’s 24-Hour Economy initiative, passport offices nationwide will operate shift systems to ensure continuous service delivery.
During the launch ceremony, where symbolic copies were presented to Chief of Staff Julius Debrah and other dignitaries, Foreign Affairs Minister Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa announced a partnership with Ghana Post.
“To ensure seamless delivery, we’re offering free home delivery services through Ghana Post. Applicants with address challenges may collect their documents at designated post offices,” the Minister stated.
The Ministry emphasized that this upgrade reflects Ghana’s commitment to adopting cutting-edge technology while improving citizen convenience in passport acquisition.
The newly introduced travel document incorporates an advanced microprocessor chip that securely stores the holder’s biometric data and photographic information.
This innovative system will be fully integrated with the National Identification Authority’s database for comprehensive identity verification.
The e-passport boasts multiple cutting-edge security features, including sophisticated anti-fraud mechanisms with both latent and patent indicators. These measures provide unparalleled document security and protection against forgery.
This chip-embedded passport represents a significant technological advancement over Ghana’s current biometric passport system, offering citizens a more secure and internationally recognized travel document.

Nana Moses, former Vice Chair of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) China branch, has thrown his weight behind Robert Sarfo-Mensah, popularly known as Booba, to lead the Ahafo regional NPP as chairman.
Mr Sarfo-Mensah served as the Member of Parliament for Asunafo North Constituency on three consecutive terms from 2005 to 2017, where he spearheaded massive infrastructural and socio-economic development in the area.
He holds an Executive Master’s in General Paralegal Studies (EMGPS) and an Executive Master’s in Alternative Dispute Resolution (EMADR) from the Institute of Paralegal Training and Leadership Studies (IPLS).
In an interview with Myjoyonline in Goaso, Nana Moses eulogised Sarfo-Mensah’s political journey, citing his longstanding service and commitment to party unity and growth, and reputation in community development.
The NPP in the Ahafo region, after the 2024 elections, lost three of its four parliamentary seats to the NDC, with Gideon Boako winning the only seat for the NPP, Tano North Constituency.
The party also performed abysmally in the presidential polls with candidate John Dramani Mahama garnering 128,986, totalling 52.46%, while Dr Bawumia had 113,262, registering 46.07%. Nana Moses said from the early days as a polling agent at Mim L/A JHS to being an active member of the University of Ghana branch of Friends of John Agyekum Kufuor (1993-2000), Booba’s loyalty to the NPP has been consistent.
In 2021, Booba was the secretary to the vetting Committee of Municipal and District Chief Executives (MDCEs) in Ahafo Region, Regional Coordinator for the NPP’s 2020 Election and a member of the Regional Campaign Team.
From 2013 to 2016, Sarfo-Mensah chaired the then Brong-Ahafo Caucus in Parliament, was a member of the NPP National Council, and part of the NPP Manifesto Committee on Employment and Labour.
According to the former NPP China branch officer, the strategic role Booba played as Brong-Ahafo Campaign Coordinator for then-presidential candidate Nana Akufo-Addo in 2012 showed his deep grassroots engagement and organizational strength.
Between 2009 and 2012, he was the Caucus Secretary for Brong-Ahafo NPP MPs and consistently served on regional campaign teams between 2004 and 2012.
He said Booba, in his public life, served as the Director-General of the National Sports Authority between 2017 and 2018 and was an Assistant Revenue Officer at the Value Added Tax Service from 2001 to 2004, a teacher at Mim Secondary School from 1997 to 2001.
He was part of Ghana’s delegation to various International Labour Organisation (ILO) conferences in Geneva and attended study tours and seminars across Canada, China, Belgium, the UK, Togo, and Namibia, gaining invaluable governance and leadership experience.
Born on April 1, 1970, Sarfo-Mensah is a result-oriented politician and an enterprising agriculturist which drive his passion for public service beyond personal ambition, which is rooted in his vision to see the NPP grow stronger and recapture power in 2028.
He noted that Mr Sarfo-Mensah has served the NPP faithfully across all levels, has vast leadership experience, unmatched grassroots connection, and a powerful vision for unity and victory, urging party delegates and stakeholders to rally behind him.
“His track record of hard work, dedication, and loyalty makes him the best candidate to lead Ahafo NPP to reclaim its lost parliamentary seats, and solve the party’s reduction of vote margins in the presidential polls”, he added.
“As a leading member of the party in the Ahafo region, Booba believes that politics must unite rather than divide, bringing people together under a common umbrella for societal advancement”, he affirms.

Former Vice President and 2024 flagbearer of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia, has stated that history will look kindly upon former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, praising him for the bold and visionary decisions he made to uplift Ghana’s destiny.
Speaking during his “Thank You Tour,” Dr. Bawumia celebrated the former President’s enduring legacy, citing the Free Senior High School policy, the digitalisation of public services, and a wave of ambitious infrastructure projects that reshaped the national landscape.
According to him, these are not mere policies crafted for immediate applause, but lasting investments in the future of the country.
“These are not just policies for today; they are investments for the future of Ghana,” Dr. Bawumia emphasised, adding that former President Akufo-Addo’s tenure brought significant transformation across various sectors of the Ghanaian economy.
“History will be kind to President Akufo-Addo for the bold decisions he made for the benefit of our country,” he stressed, while acknowledging that some of the initiatives faced criticism.
Dr. Bawumia expressed confidence that future generations would look back and applaud the foundations laid under Akufo-Addo’s leadership.
He further assured supporters that the NPP remains committed to building on this solid groundwork and driving the nation’s continued development.

Departing from the usual political blame game, Dr. Bawumia pledged that the NPP would take full responsibility for its shortcomings rather than make excuses.
“We will not make excuses. Instead, we pledge to correct our lapses and deliver even better governance in the future,” he affirmed.
Dr. Bawumia called for unity and a renewed national commitment to development.
“Let us move forward together with a renewed sense of purpose. We owe it to every Ghanaian to serve with humility, dedication, and an unrelenting commitment to progress,” he declared.
