Mohamed Salah voices frustration after being benched for consecutive matches Mohamed Salah voices frustration after being benched for consecutive matches

Mohamed Salah has cast doubt over his Liverpool future after expressing deep frustration with his situation at the club.

The Egypt captain suggested he feels unfairly treated and hinted that his relationship with manager Arne Slot has completely broken down.

Speaking after the club’s 3-3 draw with Leeds United, Salah admitted he is struggling to understand why he has recently been left out of the starting lineup, describing it as the first time in his career he has experienced such a situation.

“I’m sitting on the bench, and I don’t know why,” he said. “I’m very disappointed. I have done so much for this club. It is difficult to see this happening, especially after last season.”

Salah went further, stating he believes he has become a scapegoat for Liverpool’s recent form.

“It is very clear that someone wants me to take all the blame,” he said. “Promises were made during the summer, and nothing has happened. I used to have a very good relationship with the manager, and suddenly, there is nothing. I don’t know why.”

The forward insisted that his loyalty to Liverpool remains strong, but he no longer feels the same support from the club hierarchy.

“It feels like someone does not want me here,” Salah continued. “This is a big club. I have always loved it. My family loves it. I called my parents and told them to come to the final game, whether I play or not. I just want to enjoy it.”

Salah stressed that he has earned his place through consistent performances and expects respect in return.

“I am not bigger than anyone, but I have worked hard for my position,” he stated. “I do not understand why I am being put in this situation. It feels like I am being thrown under the bus, like I am the problem. I don’t believe that.”

With uncertainty now surrounding his future, Salah admitted he does not know what comes next, leaving supporters braced for what could be a dramatic development in the coming weeks.

Just a minute into the game, the Ahafo side took the lead through an own goal from John Badu, completely shifting the momentum in their favour.

About eleven minutes into the second half, Danso Dramani doubled the lead for Adrobaa after connecting freely to a set-piece inside the box, sealing victory in an entertaining final.

Adrobaa did not only take home the ultimate prize. Their goalkeeper, Amankwah Sebastian, was adjudged Best Goalkeeper of the tournament for his outstanding performances. He did not concede from the knockout stage and made a big penalty save in their shootout win over Bono East in the quarter-final.

For all the brilliant football they played, Franko International did not leave empty-handed. Their star forward, Righteous Aidoo, won both the Golden Boot for his six goals and the Golden Ball for his overall excellent tournament. Franko also received GHS30,000 for finishing second.

Meanwhile, St. Francis R/C from the Bono Region pocketed GHS20,000 for winning bronze after their 3-2 penalty shootout victory over Advent Reform Institute from the Eastern Region.

Good News Preparatory School from the Central Region was named the Fair Play Team.

Football legend and Milo icon Stephen Appiah, who attended the final, called for better management of the talent emerging from the tournament.

“At times it saddens my heart that after this tournament where are they going? So we have to do something to keep these boys. They are doing it in Europe,” Appiah said.

“At times I’m worried that the current generation if they are not playing for the national team who are going to replace them? But through Milo I think that we still have hope that the future is bright for Ghana football.”

Davido reacted to a post Annie had made about 2Face Davido reacted to a post Annie had made about 2Face

Nigerian music star Davido has stirred reactions online after responding to a new post shared by actress Annie Idibia, which many fans believe was a subtle shade aimed at her ex-husband, legendary singer 2Face.

Reports earlier stated that Annie Idibia was a topic of discussion online after sharing a series of promotional visuals for an upcoming South African event in which she and other celebs were to participate as special guests.

The actress uploaded the carousel photographs on Instagram, but her soundtrack choice piqued followers’ interest.

Annie incorporated “Enter the Place,” one of 2Face’s classic hit songs, in what many saw as a subtle shade.

This comes amid 2Face’s ongoing marital crisis with his wife, Natasha, which has dominated online debates since the couple became embroiled in public friction and social media drama.

Annie’s use of his music fueled an already heated controversy.

Adding to the heat, superstar Davido liked the post, a small move that was observed and intensified the buzz.

What’s going on between 2Face and Natasha

Nigerian music icon 2Face Idibia and his wife, Natasha Osawaru, are currently embroiled in a public marital crisis involving serious allegations of domestic violence, financial issues, and highly publicized altercations that recently occurred at a UK airport and during an Instagram Live session.

The situation escalated when 2Face’s former management and family publicly accused Natasha of abuse and financial control, leading to a police petition in Nigeria and causing the Edo State House of Assembly to summon Natasha over her conduct.

While 2Face initially posted a distress signal, he has since defended his wife and pleaded for privacy, urging the public to stop the speculation surrounding their intensely scrutinized relationship.

I didn’t understand Akufo-Addo’s leadership – Former President Kufuor

Former President John Agyekum Kufuor has expressed disappointment in the performance of the Akufo-Addo–led administration, particularly in the period after the COVID‑19 pandemic.

In an interview with Deloris Frimpong Manso, shared on X on December 6, 2025, former President Kufuor noted that although Akufo-Addo started his administration on a promising note, his government began to perform poorly after the COVID-19 pandemic.

According to the former president, the Akufo-Addo government implemented policies without consulting him, adding that he could not fathom many of the approaches taken by the ousted NPP administration.

Kufuor speaks for the first time about being confined to a wheelchair

He further explained that Akufo-Addo’s style of leadership contributed to the NPP’s defeat in the 2024 general election.

“During the 2016 election, they rode on my achievements to win power, but after they came into government, things changed… They started very well, but when COVID-19 came, things began to shift. I will commend him for how he handled the COVID-19 pandemic, but afterward, I didn’t understand many of the things they were doing.

“Things like the bond market and the national cathedral… They didn’t consult me. All I knew was that they were building it. I initially thought it was a private initiative, only to later realize they were using government resources. They even demolished the judges’ building for it, and yet they still couldn’t complete it,” he said.

Kufuor and my legacy will be a catalyst for NPP’s comeback in 2028 – Akufo-Addo

Former President Kufuor, however, advised members of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) to stay united and true to themselves.

According to him, truth and transparency are key factors that can help the party return to power.

“They should stay true to themselves. They may not all be friends, but since they are bonded by the party’s principles, when it comes to the work, we should present a united front. That is what Ghanaians want,” he added.

Bawumia’s favourability rises, widens lead in new Global Info analytics survey

0

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia

With less than two months for the NPP to go to the polls to elect its 2028 presidential candidate, former Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, is on course to be retained by members of the NPP as Flagbearer, Global Info Analytics has reported.

In a detailed breakdown and analysis of its latest survey yesterday, the Executive Director of Global InfoAnalytics, Musa Dankwa, said the favourability rate of Dr Bawumia, among NPP delegates, had risen from the last period of survey, while those of the other contenders had declined.

Dankwa explained that questions were posed to respondents about how favourable they saw each candidate – a process used to measure the popularity of the candidates as the election nears.

According to Global InfoAnalytics, Dr Bawumia had a 91% favourability rate in the last period of the survey, and with the election getting closer, his favourability rate has gone up by 1% to 92% – a situation he described as positive.

“It tells you something here. When your favourability is increasing, it means you are going to translate that into votes. If it is reducing, it means you’re going to lose votes,” explained Musa Dankwa.

From Musa Dankwa’s analysis, the latest survey will be concerning to Kennedy Agyapong and the other contenders, as their favourability rate dropped.

Kennedy Agyapong dropped 5% from 88% to 83%, which means he’s losing votes, while Bryan Acheampong also dropped from 83% to 81%. Osei Adutwun maintained his favourability rate of 77% while Kwabena Adjei Agyapong dropped 4 points from 76% to 72%.

On the general outlook, the Global InfoAnalytics noted that Bawumia is way ahead with 43%, while Kennedy Agyapong follows with 18%. The rest are Bryan Acheampong at 5%, while Osei Yaw Adutwum and Kwabena Adjei Agyapong are at near zero.

However, as much as 34% of delegates were either undecided or unwilling to disclose their votes, thus presenting the candidates to battle for the 34% at stake.

With Bawumia at 43%, he will require less than one-third of the 34% undisclosed and undecided votes to cross the 50% plus 1 margin to win.

BAWUMIA STRETCHES LEAD IN NEW SOCIAL MEDIA POLL

Meanwhile, in a separate survey conducted only on social media among NPP supporters, the Global InfoAnalytics reported that Bawumia has increased his votes from the last poll in September, while his closest contender, Kennedy Agyapong, has declined.

“For the NPP race, according to the social media edition of the poll among NPP voters, DMB (Bawumia) extends his lead from 56% in September to 75% in the December 2025 poll. Kennedy Agyapong saw a sharp drop from 40% to 18%, Dr Yaw Osei-Adutwum also recorded a decline from 3% to 1%, Dr Bryan Acheampong rose from 1% to 5% and Kwabena Agyapong also rose from 0% to 1%.

The Akuse District Police Command has launched investigations into the circumstances surrounding the tragic deaths of two female prison officers following a road accident early Saturday, December 6, 2025.

The crash occurred between the Akuse Junction and the VRA Junction within the Akuse township. Details of how the incident occurred remain unclear.

Two male prison officers who were also in the vehicle, a Toyota Corolla with registration number GS 4817-17, sustained multiple fractures.

They were initially taken to the Akuse Government Hospital but were later referred to St. Joseph Hospital in Koforidua due to the severity of their injuries.

Citi News sources indicate that the devastating news has plunged personnel at the Akuse Local Prison in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality into deep shock and grief.

While colleagues mourn the two officers who lost their lives, many are also praying for the recovery of those still receiving treatment in Koforidua.

Police report three deaths and thirty injuries after a road accident happened at Mampong Abuontem

0

A tragic road accident at Mampong Abuontem on Thursday, December 4, 2025, claimed three lives and left thirty others injured. The collision involved a Toyota Coaster minibus from Ejura Agric College, carrying students and staff, and an Opel Astra, which was completely crushed in the impact.

According to reports, the head-on crash occurred when the Astra, registration AS 3838 W, apparently lost control while navigating a curve and veered into the path of the oncoming minibus (GV 1720-20), striking it directly. The local fire service received an emergency alert at 5:38 pm, and rescue teams were quickly dispatched to the scene. By the time they arrived, many of the injured—including students, three staff members, and the bus driver—had already been transported to Mampong Government Hospital by ambulance.

Tragically, the driver of the Astra was found dead in the wreckage, and two passengers from the vehicle later died in hospital. Of the thirty injured, twenty-six have been treated and discharged, while four remain in critical condition. The minibus sustained significant damage, with its windscreen, front bumper, and fenders destroyed.

Eyewitnesses described the crash as severe, noting that the Astra veered suddenly around the curve, causing a violent impact that twisted metal and shattered glass. Rescue teams worked swiftly to clear the wreckage, allowing traffic to resume on the road. Authorities have urged drivers to exercise caution, maintain their vehicles, and avoid risky maneuvers, especially on curves, to prevent similar tragedies.

The accident has left families grieving and the community in shock. Many of the injured are young students, whose hopes and dreams have been abruptly interrupted by the disaster. Hospitals continue to provide care for those critically injured, while families anxiously await updates on their loved ones.

This incident serves as a stark reminder of the dangers of road travel, particularly when navigating curves at high speed. The combination of vehicle control issues and road conditions can have devastating consequences, underscoring the need for vigilance, safe driving practices, and regular vehicle maintenance to protect lives.

IMANI Questions Fate of Biometric Data Before New Registration

IMANI Questions Fate of Biometric Data Before New Registration
Mtn Telecel And Airteltigo

Policy think tank IMANI Centre for Policy and Education is demanding government accountability on biometric data from previous SIM registration before citizens provide fresh details in the 2026 exercise.

The organization raised concerns about the custody, protection, and current location of fingerprints and facial images collected during the 2022 registration exercise. IMANI revealed that verification against the National Identification Authority database was never fully carried out, leaving sensitive biometric data stored without clear accountability measures. The think tank questioned who controls the data, under what protection it exists, and what accountability mechanisms are in place.

According to IMANI, biometric information differs fundamentally from ordinary data because it cannot be changed if leaked or misused. The organization argues that before a new registration proceeds, government must resolve critical questions about data custody and security. IMANI specifically demanded clarification on who currently holds the biometric data and bears responsibility under Act 843, where the data are stored and under what technical safeguards, the verifiable protocol for secure deletion of legacy data, and which independent body will audit, certify, and publish the deletion.

Communications Minister Samuel Nartey George announced in December 2025 that fresh nationwide SIM registration will begin in the first quarter of 2026. George declared the previous registration invalid, citing weak biometric verification and lack of legal backing. He explained the earlier process failed to cross-reference biometric data properly with the national database, undermining credibility.

National Identification Authority Acting Chief Executive Wisdom Yayra Koku Deku confirmed in October 2025 that biometrics collected during the 2022 exercise were never authenticated against NIA systems. Deku stated the old system only verified Ghana Card PINs without biometric authentication, leaving much data unreliable. He emphasized that captured fingerprints were not used to authenticate identities with any authoritative system.

George revealed his ministry reached agreement with NIA to integrate biometric databases for seamless verification during upcoming registration. The minister disclosed government has begun cleaning and synchronizing biometric data previously collected, which he said was scattered across various databases without proper validation. He stated approximately 80 percent of records have been cross-referenced with NIA.

A new Legislative Instrument to guide the upcoming registration has been completed and will soon go before Parliament for approval. The Public Procurement Authority is finalizing selection of a service provider. George emphasized the new system will be technology-driven and human-centered to avoid queues and inefficiencies that characterized the previous exercise.

IMANI insists on full transparency, public audit, legal assignment of responsibility under the Data Protection Act, and clear proof of deletion overseen by an independent body. The think tank stated citizens should not be required to register again until the matter is resolved transparently. Without clear answers, IMANI fears a second registration risks becoming repetition of past mistakes rather than solution.

Industry observers note Ghana’s previous SIM registration faced multiple challenges including contractor credibility concerns, extended deadlines, and service disruptions. The 2022 exercise saw 30 million individuals complete the first phase by linking Ghana Cards to SIM numbers, with approximately 21 million completing full biometric verification.

The new registration forms part of broader efforts to combat SIM-related fraud and provide legal clarity for telecom operators and users. Similar initiatives across Africa including Zimbabwe and other nations aim to address mobile device-related crimes through central equipment identity registers and enhanced subscriber verification systems.

RSF alleges SAF forces struck crucial border crossing in Sudan near Chad

Sudanese children play by the Sudanese border in an Adre, Chad, transit camp Sudanese children play by the Sudanese border in an Adre, Chad, transit camp

Sudan’s paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) has accused the government-aligned Sudanese Armed Forces (SAF) of waging an attack on a border town near Chad as war in the country rages on deep into its third year.

The RSF alleged the SAF used drones in the attack at the Adre border crossing, according to a statement by the group on Telegram on Friday.

Sudan’s army has not yet issued a statement in response.

The border crossing point between Chad and Sudan has been vital for humanitarian aid delivery during the ongoing brutal civil war. Throughout the conflict, Chad has received thousands of Sudanese people fleeing the bloodshed amid a devastating humanitarian situation.

The RSF claimed the bombing directly targeted the Adikon Gate at the crossing, their statement adding that the crossing is a “vital” corridor connecting Sudan and Chad, and a crucial humanitarian “lifeline” for delivering aid and commercial supplies to civilians affected by the war.

Footage from the incident showed plumes of smoke and rolling fire from the site of the attack, as civilians looked on.

The group asserted that the bombing was intended to “deliberately” obstruct the flow of humanitarian aid and hinder relief efforts, “worsening the suffering of civilians”.

The RSF also condemned what it said was “international silence” on army violations, “which encourages the aggressor to persist in committing further crimes against civilians and humanitarian infrastructure”.

There were no reports on casualties or what damage the attack caused.

The RSF has been accused of carrying out widespread atrocities against civilians in the war, most recently in el-Fasher in North Darfur State. The SAF has also faced accusations of war crimes.

RSF attack in Kalogi

Meanwhile, the death toll from RSF attacks on a kindergarten and other sites on Friday in the city of Kalogi in South Kordofan state has risen to 114 people – many of them children – with about 71 others injured, the executive director of the city’s locality told Al Jazeera.

According to SAF sources, the RSF attacked the kindergarten on Thursday and then returned to target civilians who had gathered to offer assistance amid the carnage.

The total death toll from Sudan’s war remains unclear, but estimates place it well over 100,000, with nearly 12 million people displaced, according to United Nations figures. More than 24 million Sudanese now face acute hunger.

United States President Donald Trump has said his administration would lead efforts to end the conflict, but peace negotiations have stalled as the RSF has continued attacks across the country despite announcing a unilateral ceasefire. The army, meanwhile, has called on the paramilitary group to retreat from territories it has captured.

A nation that left its farmers behind – Minority blasts gov’t over GH¢5bn grain disaster

0

The Minority in Parliament has marked this year’s Farmers’ Day with a scathing assessment of the government’s handling of the agricultural sector.

The NPP MPs are accusing it of presiding over a GH¢5 billion grain disaster and leaving farmers and fishers behind at a time they need the state most.

The caucus said the day calls for reflection, not celebration, because the people who feed the nation are facing some of the hardest moments in Ghana’s recent agricultural history.

In a statement signed by Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin, the caucus paid tribute to “the gallant farmers, fisherfolk, processors, and agricultural workers whose sweat and resilience continue to feed our nation — even as they face some of the gravest challenges in Ghana’s modern agricultural history.”

They said the day must honour their courage but must also confront the frustration, neglect, and broken promises that define the sector.

The Minority said farmers have shown remarkable courage in a year when the country witnessed a catastrophic collapse in the grain market.

They said “over 1 million metric tonnes of paddy rice valued at GH¢5 billion reportedly remain unsold, abandoned in warehouses and barns from Upper East to North East and the Northern Region.”

According to them, this crisis grew worse because “Government failed to honour its September 2025 promise that the National Food Buffer Stock Company would purchase all locally produced rice and maize.”

They said farmers have been left stranded and national food security has been weakened.

The statement also acknowledged the struggles of fishing communities. It praised “the canoe owners, the crew members, the fishmongers, and processors,” and highlighted the difficulties they face with dwindling stocks, illegal fishing, and logistical failures.

The Minority said their resilience “despite painful betrayals — demonstrates the indomitable Ghanaian spirit.”

They described a deepening crisis along the coast and expressed sympathy for areas “like Keta in the Volta Region, where fishing activities… have reportedly been crippled by the chronic non-supply of premix fuel.”

They said this failure shows a breakdown in basic state responsibility and has left families helpless.

The Minority pointed to a growing sense of despair, noting that “key professional farmer associations have endorsed a symbolic boycott of national celebrations over the Government’s failure to purchase their produce.”

They said the protest in Tamale, where farmers marched with placards asking “Government promised to buy every grain. Where are you?” reflects the mood across the country.

The caucus also warned that cheap, expired, and smuggled imports are wrecking local markets.

They said “smuggled rice — often repackaged by politically connected importers — continues to flood the market,” making it impossible for local farmers to compete.

They added that illicit fishing practices and unregulated imports are also collapsing incomes for local fishers. They called it “a national failure.”

The statement described a cocoa sector in distress. It said farmers are battling price volatility and land loss as illegal mining spreads.

It cited COCOBOD’s report that “30,000 hectares of cocoa farms have… been lost to illegal mining.” Communities face poisoned water and falling yields, and some farmers have abandoned cocoa entirely.

The Minority also drew attention to the threat to national water security. They warned that pollution from illegal mining has pushed the Ayensu River’s turbidity to “over 30,000 NTU… far above the maximum 2,500 NTU threshold required for treatment.” They said the destruction of rivers hurts aquatic life, irrigation, and households.

They added that rising production costs remain a burden. They said farmers still struggle with poor roads, storage delays, and financial constraints, while fishers face the high cost of nets and engines. Meanwhile, Ghana continues to import “US$3.5–4.5 billion worth of food annually.”

The Minority urged a major shift toward modern technology. They called for investment in “Artificial Intelligence diagnostics,” drones, precision agriculture, smart irrigation, and digital monitoring systems. They said this is how Ghana can become competitive and create jobs.

They listed urgent demands to rescue the sector. They called for the immediate purchase of unsold grain, restoration of premix fuel supply, enforcement against smuggled imports, action against illegal mining and fishing, expansion of the Feed Ghana Programme, and investment in irrigation, storage, cold chains, road networks, landing sites, and agro-processing.

The caucus ended its statement by saluting the country’s farmers and fishers. It said: “We honour you. We celebrate you. We see your struggles. We stand with you. Your courage feeds the nation.”

It pledged to continue fighting for proper investment, better protection, and a modernised agricultural and fisheries sector built on technology and innovation.

It wished all farmers a happy Farmers’ Day and said they deserve far more than promises.

Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has accused the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng, of using the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) to pursue a personal vendetta against him, following his recent detention by the institution.

In an interview with Selorm Adonoo on Channel One TV’s The Big Issue on Saturday, December 6, Mr Kpebu launched a direct attack on the Special Prosecutor, alleging that his detention was driven by personal animosity.

He claimed Mr Agyebeng was using his office to “settle scores” after Kpebu publicly accused him of corruption—allegations he insists he is prepared to prove.

“Kissi Agyebeng is using the OSP for his personal vendetta against me. Because I said he’s corrupt and ready to prove it, he just can’t handle it. And he thinks he should just go after me, and that is childish. He thought he could use the military to muzzle me,” he said.

Speaking earlier on Channel One Newsroom on Thursday, December 4, Mr Kpebu explained that the incident began as what he described as a minor verbal exchange with a military officer at the entrance of the OSP headquarters, before escalating into his detention and subsequent transfer to the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB).

He maintained his call for the removal of the Special Prosecutor, criticising him for allowing former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta to travel outside the country.

Mr Kpebu further accused Mr Agyebeng of allegedly running the OSP “in his pocket,” reiterating that the office must be held accountable.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor has not yet officially responded to the allegations.

Watch the moment an 82-year-old cocoa farmer was named 2025 National Best Farmer

An 82-year-old farmer from the Kwahu Afram Plains South District in the Eastern Region, Opanyin Abraham Kwaku Adusei, has been crowned the Overall Best National Farmer for 2025, earning the top honour at this year’s Farmers’ Day celebration in Ho.

Mr Adusei, who has dedicated 44 years to farming, won national recognition for his extensive agricultural investments, which include 1,000 acres of cocoa, 293 acres of mango and 30 acres of cashew. His prize package comprised GH¢1.2 million, a brand-new tractor, a truck and power trailers.

He received the award from President John Dramani Mahama during the 41st National Farmers’ Day Awards Ceremony held in the Volta Regional capital. Osman Kadiri was named first runner-up, while 63-year-old Charles Gyato from the Oti Region took the second runner-up position. Both received cash prizes for their efforts.

Addressing the ceremony, President Mahama urged Ghanaians, particularly those in formal employment, to consider farming as an additional source of income and a meaningful contribution to national development.

“Agriculture isn’t only for the village folks,” he said. “You can work and still be a farmer. Teachers and civil servants can go to work and have farms, and the money from the farm can supplement their incomes.”

He explained that modern farming systems now allow professionals to combine their regular jobs with productive agricultural ventures, boosting household incomes and strengthening food security. The President added that expanding participation in agriculture would help Ghana reduce its reliance on imported food.

President Mahama also encouraged the adoption of improved technologies, irrigation and high-yield seedlings to enable part-time farmers to remain productive without being physically present on their farms every day. He reaffirmed his administration’s commitment to creating an enabling and profitable environment for all categories of farmers.

Minister of Food and Agriculture, Eric Opoku, used the event to call on corporate Ghana to support the sector. He said there was a renewed national commitment to improving agriculture and urged businesses to work with his Ministry to strengthen farmer support systems. “I want to urge corporate Ghana to partner with the Ministry,” he said.

The Minister noted that access to reliable weather information had become a critical factor in agricultural success, describing climate variability as one of the greatest risks facing farmers. “Agricultural success today depends not only on land and labour, but on timely and accurate weather information,” he said at a recent Government Accountability Series Session.

He said the Ministry had made significant progress in transforming Ghana’s agro-meteorological landscape, including the installation of twenty Automated Weather Stations across the country under the Ghana Meteorological Agency. Eleven of these stations are located in senior high schools where climate clubs have been formed to promote environmental literacy.

The Minister added that these stations provide round-the-clock data to help farmers make informed decisions on planting, harvesting and fertiliser application. To integrate data from both manual and automated stations, the Ministry is also developing a Management Information System, with the supplier shortlisted and the evaluation report submitted to the World Bank for approval.

Once completed, this MIS will serve as the digital backbone of Ghana’s agro-meteorological intelligence, offering real-time forecasts and early warning mechanisms to support national food systems.

“I Will Rather Die Than Attend Daddy Lumba’s Funeral on 13th December” – Akosoua Serwaa

0

Tensions surrounding the funeral of legendary Highlife musician Daddy Lumba have escalated dramatically as Akosoua Serwaa has vowed never to attend the ceremony scheduled for 13th December. Her declaration has sparked fresh controversy and intensified public debate about her strained relationship with the late musician’s family.

Her emotional outburst was captured in a video posted by Royal TV on Saturday 6th December 2025, where she expressed deep frustration, disappointment, and what she described as “unbearable disrespect” from individuals connected to the funeral planning. According to Royal TV, Akosoua Serwaa did not mince words as she made it clear she would rather “die” than be present at the ceremony.

In the video, Akosoua Serwaa explained that her decision is rooted in what she believes is deliberate humiliation and targeted attacks from certain family members and external commentators who have consistently questioned her relationship with Daddy Lumba. She stated that these individuals have made it nearly impossible for her to grieve peacefully or participate meaningfully in the funeral arrangements.

According to her, the insults, accusations, and allegations she has endured since the musician’s passing have pushed her to the breaking point. She lamented that instead of unity and honor for the legendary musician, the period has turned into a battlefield of disrespect, misinformation, and attempts to erase her place in Lumba’s life story.

Akosoua Serwaa stated that she has been portrayed as an enemy, an outsider, and even an opportunist—claims she insists are false and malicious. She revealed that these continuous personal attacks have left her emotionally wounded, making it impossible for her to stand among the crowd on 13th December without feeling unsafe or judged. She stressed that no woman deserves this level of humiliation, especially at a time of mourning.

She further stated that those controlling the funeral arrangements have intentionally sidelined her, refusing to acknowledge her contributions, her history with the musician, or the sacrifices she made. According to her, every attempt she made to extend a hand of peace has been ignored, twisted, or ridiculed. This, she said, convinced her that attending the funeral would only invite further disgrace.

Akosoua Serwaa passionately argued that she truly loved Daddy Lumba while he was alive, and her emotional connection to him is something no one can erase. She expressed disappointment that instead of embracing unity at this critical moment, the environment has become toxic with rumors and accusations. She insisted that no amount of pressure or public criticism will force her to appear at a ceremony where she is not welcomed, respected, or acknowledged.

Her statement have triggered mixed reactions across social media. Some sympathize with her, noting that grief can be complicated, especially when surrounded by conflict and criticism. These supporters argue that no one should be forced into a hostile funeral environment. Others, however, believe that regardless of personal grievances, she should attend to honor the man she claims to have loved dearly. Critics argue that her public declaration may inflame tensions further and overshadow the purpose of the ceremony.

Akosoua Serwaa responded to these criticisms in the same video. She stressed that honoring Daddy Lumba does not require her physical presence at an event filled with individuals who despise her. She insisted that she will mourn him privately and respectfully in her own way. According to her, true respect is shown from the heart, not by standing in front of cameras at an event where her presence would be met with gossip and hostility.

As the funeral date draws closer, the dispute between Akosoua Serwaa and those organizing the ceremony appears to be escalating rather than calming. Her declaration “I will rather die than attend” has become the latest twist in a series of emotional confrontations that have dominated public discussions ever since the news of Daddy Lumba’s passing emerged.

Whether bridges will be mended before the burial remains uncertain. What is clear, however, is that the controversy surrounding Akosoua Serwaa’s relationship with Daddy Lumba continues to intensify, leaving fans and observers questioning how the funeral of such a beloved icon has become overshadowed by conflict, accusations, and emotional distress.

Lionel Messi provided two assists as Inter Miami beat Vancouver Whitecaps at Chase Stadium to win the MLS Cup for the first time.

Miami got off to the perfect start and took the lead in the eighth minute when Edier Ocampo put the ball into his own net while trying to defend Tadeo Allende.

Vancouver grew into the game late in the first half and had two big opportunities to level.

Their first meaningful attempt at a goal came in the 38th minute when goalkeeper Rocco Rios was on call to deny Emmanuel Sabbi from point-blank range.

Thomas Müller was next to threaten an equaliser when his header landed on the roof of the net.

The Whitecaps came out positively after the break and got their reward on the hour mark as Ali Ahmed’s scuffed shot squeezed under Rios’ arm.

Sabbi was unlucky not to put the visitors in front moments later when his shot crashed off both posts, and his follow-up on the rebound was also deflected onto the woodwork.

Don’t fall for the ‘political trap’ — Edudzi Tamakloe cautions Mahama

0

The Chief Executive Officer of the National Petroleum Authority (NPA), Godwin Edudzi Tamakloe, has cautioned President John Dramani Mahama against yielding to calls for the abolition of the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP), describing the proposal as a political trap.

His comments follow a declaration by the Majority Caucus in Parliament, led by its leader Mahama Ayariga, who on December 4 renewed demands for the OSP to be scrapped.

The Majority argued that the Attorney-General’s Office should be strengthened as the sole authority empowered to investigate and prosecute corruption cases.

Mr. Ayariga questioned what he described as the government’s “contradictory logic” of under-resourcing the Attorney-General while allocating significant funds to the OSP, an institution he said had “failed to meet expectations.”

But speaking on TV3 on Saturday, December 6, Mr. Edudzi insisted that scrapping the OSP would be a grave mistake.

“I will pray that President Mahama does not fall into this political trap — scrapping the OSP. It is a political trap,” he said.

He argued that the existence of the OSP should not be tied to the performance or controversies surrounding its current or past leadership, stressing that the institution and its occupant must be separated.

“The office can exist independently of the occupant. We can easily draw that distinction,” he said.

Mr. Edudzi explained that the framers of the law establishing the OSP intentionally created safeguards to prevent abuse of office by ensuring the Special Prosecutor’s conditions of service were pegged to those of a Court of Appeal judge.

This, he said, ensures that if a Special Prosecutor misconducts himself or herself, the procedures governing superior court judges apply, providing accountability without dismantling the institution.

He maintained that the OSP remains an essential component of Ghana’s anti-corruption architecture and urged policymakers to strengthen it rather than abolish it.

Where is your sense of fairness?

Political science lecturer, Dr George Jebuntie Zaato, has slammed Parliament, particularly the Majority Caucus, for their hasty response to the arrest of Lawyer Martin Kpebu by the OSP last week.

Kpebu, widely believed to be sympathetic to the cause of the NDC, was detained by the OSP and was subsequently released after landed property was demanded as a condition for his release.

Kpebu’s arrest immediately became topical in Parliament, with members of the NDC Majority condemning the OSP and even calling for the acts establishing the office to be repealed to disband it.

In a panel discussion on TV3’s Big Issues on Saturday, Dr Zaato accused Parliament of hypocrisy for not raising a voice when the rights of other citizens were abused by the OSP and other agencies.

“When Paul (Adom-Otchere) was arrested by the OSP, nobody in Parliament got up and said that the OSP’s office was being abusive. When Paul was taken away and denied his basic rights, nobody said anything,” Dr Zaato said.

“Are we saying that some people deserve it and others don’t? Where is our sense of fairness? Where is our sense of fairness as a society to say that wrong is wrong and that we shouldn’t do it?”

“If your idea is that Kpebu is better than Paul and that when it happens to Paul it’s okay, it’s justified, but when it happens to Kpebu it is not justified, what kind of society are we building?”

Dr Zaato, who also condemned the arrest of Kpebu and the abuse of his rights, called for fairness at all times, and also urged all to stand up against the increasing spate of tyranny against citizens regardless of who is involved.

“There are two things, and I’m asking that if we are getting into these debates, let us try to be a little fair,” he said.

“Tyranny in every form is bad. That’s why I said that a threat to human rights anywhere in any form is a threat to human rights everywhere.”

The Chat: Authentic songwriting key to timeless music

0

Ghanaian music sensation, Eyfa, has shared insights into her creative process, revealing how deeply she trusts her instincts when crafting music.

Speaking on The Chat on Channel One TV with Ekow Koomsonn on Saturday, December 6, 2025, she explained that her approach to songwriting is rooted in emotion and authenticity.

“From the beginning of a song, from scratch, when you want to sing on it, you just trust your gut. Once you believe in those lyrics, everybody who listens to it will also believe in it. That is the power of music, and the power of transferring energy also,” she said.

Eyfa noted that this emotional honesty is what allows her music to resonate widely.

“So, I write just as I feel, so it will be taken, and most times it resonates with everybody,” she added.

She further emphasised her belief in music’s lasting impact.

“When you write good music, you make something that will live forever, and I think that is the purpose — to live forever through the music. We are all going to go one day, and music is the only thing that can live forever.”

GIS, EU deepen security partnership to strengthen Ghana’s Northern borders

0

The Ghana Immigration Service (GIS) has deepened its security cooperation with the European Union (EU) following a high-level engagement in Accra aimed at enhancing border management, counter-terrorism coordination, and regional stability across the Sahel and Coastal West Africa.

A delegation led by the EU Special Representative for the Sahel, Juan Crauviño, held extensive discussions with GIS leadership as part of efforts to strengthen long-standing cooperation between Ghana and the European bloc.

H.E. Crauviño said his mandate requires close collaboration with all 27 EU member states and a clear understanding of security realities on the ground in strategic countries like Ghana.

He commended Ghana’s vigilance and internal security measures, noting that the country “has been resilient to the risk of incursions from terrorists because of local initiatives,” even though the broader Sahel region remains volatile.

Reflecting on his engagements with the GIS Northern Regional Command, the Ghana Armed Forces and civil society organisations, he highlighted the complexities of Ghana’s northern borders, characterised by deep family ties, porous crossing points and fluid community movement.

These, he said, require tailored approaches different from European border management systems.

Comptroller-General of Immigration, Samuel Basintale Amadu, expressed appreciation for the EU’s sustained support, particularly through the International Centre for Migration Policy Development (ICMPD), the International Organisation for Migration (IOM), and various EU-funded initiatives.

Comptroller-General of Immigration, Samuel Basintale Amadu, together with EU Special Representative for the Sahel, Juan Crauviño and other representatives

He described the Sahel as a growing security concern, noting that “the region sits on top of Ghana and pressure is coming down.”

He emphasised operational challenges, especially along the vast northern frontier, where limited mobility hampers effective patrols and response efforts.

Deep community connections at the border, he added, often complicate identification processes: “Sometimes boundaries cut through houses… criminals take advantage, disguising themselves as border residents.”

EU Ambassador to Ghana, Rune Skinnebach, praised the professionalism of the GIS and highlighted the EU’s priority focus on northern Ghana. “60% of our support goes to the north because we are very cognisant of the challenges there,” he stated.

He also commended the progress of the EU Security and Defence Initiative (EUSDI), which aims to enhance surveillance, technology deployment and inter-agency coordination in border regions.

Deputy Comptroller-General for Operations and Command Post, Laud Affrifah, expanded on the ethnic and geographic complexities along the northern borders, underscoring the need for improved surveillance technology, rapid response mechanisms and enhanced officer training.

He said operations like Operation Conquered Fist have strengthened multi-agency presence across the 500km northern boundary, but more investment in technology and training is crucial.

Affrifah also highlighted the importance of community engagement in preventing radicalisation, attributing Ghana’s relative stability to close cooperation between security agencies and local communities.

In closing, H.E. Crauviño described the meeting as “constructive and encouraging,” reaffirming the EU’s commitment to working closely with Ghana under the EUSDI framework and other EU–Africa security arrangements.

“We believe there is a need to work more closely with West African countries, and Ghana is a very strong friend,” he said.

The meeting reinforces Ghana’s continued partnership with the EU in building a resilient security architecture to counter threats emerging from the Sahel and strengthen border safety across northern Ghana.

Kennedy Agyapong Speaks on Seeing Odo Broni Pregnant in Daddy Lumba’s Home”

0

Kennedy Agyapong has set social media abuzz with a shocking revelation about the late highlife legend Daddy Lumba. The outspoken politician recounted a personal experience that left him stunned: he personally visited Daddy Lumba’s home while the musician was still alive and saw Odo Broni heavily pregnant. According to Agyapong, what he witnessed confirmed many suspicions and left him genuinely shocked.

He explained that during the visit, he had already heard rumours about Odo Broni and her relationship with the legendary musician, but had never given them much thought. However, upon seeing her in Daddy Lumba’s home, it was clear that the situation was real. Kennedy Agyapong described the scene as “unexpected and eye-opening,” noting that the pregnancy was visible and undeniable.

Agyapong stated that Daddy Lumba’s reaction at the time showed that the situation was well known within the household but had been carefully kept private. He stressed that his account is based solely on what he personally saw and experienced, and he has no intention of adding speculation or embellishment. For him, the truth matters above all, and he felt compelled to share it because the story continues to resurface in public discussions.

He also highlighted that celebrities often live complex lives behind the scenes, with many personal matters shielded from public view. “What you see in public is only a fraction of the truth,” he said, urging Ghanaians to avoid forming judgments based purely on rumours or social media chatter. He believes understanding the realities of such private matters requires careful observation and restraint.

Kennedy Agyapong clarified that his statement was not meant to harm Odo Broni or portray her negatively. He acknowledged that she, like everyone else, has her own story and challenges. His goal is to present a firsthand account of what he witnessed and ensure that the public understands the context of past events accurately.

He recounted entering Daddy Lumba’s home, exchanging greetings, and then unexpectedly seeing Odo Broni emerge from one of the inner rooms. The sight of her pregnancy, he said, was impossible to miss and left a strong impression on him. He described the moment as a rare insight into the private life of one of Ghana’s greatest music icons.

Agyapong also emphasized the importance of respecting Daddy Lumba’s legacy while acknowledging the roles played by people around him. He criticized those who spread false narratives or exaggerate family conflicts, stressing that the truth about events and relationships must be told responsibly. According to him, understanding the full context is key to preventing misinformation and unnecessary disputes.

He further expressed admiration for Daddy Lumba, noting that despite personal and family complexities, the musician remained disciplined, hardworking, and focused on his craft. Agyapong described Lumba as a genius whose contributions to Ghanaian music are unmatched and whose legacy should be remembered with dignity.

The revelation has sparked debate online, with many expressing surprise, while others call for discretion and respect for the late musician’s family. Yet, Kennedy Agyapong remains firm that sharing what he personally witnessed is a matter of honesty and truth, especially given the ongoing public discussions surrounding Daddy Lumba’s life and family.

Strongman Explains Commitment to Partner Nana Ama
Strongman

Ghanaian rapper Strongman has revealed his commitment to longtime partner Nana Ama centers on avoiding complications from children outside their relationship during a recent interview.

The rapper, born Osei Kwaku Vincent, explained that although they have lived together nearly a decade without formal marriage, he considers their bond equivalent to matrimony. Strongman emphasized his discipline stems from wanting to prevent issues typically associated with multiple partners and children. He said he prefers to avoid stress and simply enjoy life.

Addressing public speculation about Nana Ama restraining him from rap battles, Strongman clarified she objects to specific feuds based on emotional dynamics rather than lyrical confrontations themselves. He noted tensions arose during his dispute with Amerado because of their close relationship. Strongman explained Nana Ama felt displeased because he had done nothing to deserve demeaning lyrics and their bond made her reluctant for him to respond.

The rapper confirmed his past conflicts with Medikal and Amerado have been resolved. He described interactions with Medikal’s former wife Fella Makafui as cordial, noting he has seen her multiple times and shared meals with her. Strongman characterized such reconciliations as typical within Ghana’s entertainment industry, joking that disagreements pass quickly and people should express frustrations immediately since tensions fade rapidly.

Regarding marriage plans, Strongman acknowledged his busy schedule and financial responsibilities have delayed formalizing his union with Nana Ama. He stated his commitment remains unwavering regardless of whether they officially marry. The rapper explained that even if their relationship ended, he would provide her with property shares equivalent to what a married woman would receive, describing her as not materialistic.

Strongman and Nana Ama share a daughter, Simona Lawreshia Osei, born in 2019. The couple has maintained a relatively stable public relationship compared to many celebrity partnerships in Ghana’s entertainment scene. Nana Ama, known on social media as Nana Ama Strong, frequently supports her partner’s career milestones and maintains an active presence celebrating his achievements.

The rapper’s feuds with Medikal and Amerado previously dominated headlines in Ghana’s hip hop community. The Medikal beef emerged in 2019 after award show disagreements, while tensions with Amerado developed over perceived subliminal disses in songs. Both conflicts generated significant social media attention before the parties reconciled.

Island and Space – Medikal explains why he gave his children unconventional names

Ghanaian rapper Medikal has opened up about the inspiration behind the unique names he gives his children, stating that every choice is intentional and rooted in deep meaning.

Speaking in an interview with Andy Dosty on Joy Prime, the award-winning rapper explained that his newborn son’s name, Space, was chosen to encourage boundless imagination and an unlimited worldview.

“I want a child to grow into an infinite world, you know? That’s why I named the child Space,” he said.

Medikal dismissed suggestions that the unconventional names—first Island, now Space—were attempts to seek attention. According to him, names should inspire greatness and possibilities, not simply follow societal norms.

When Andy Dosty humorously suggested that the name Space could lead to amusing moments in future relationships, Medikal laughed but maintained that the choice was serious and symbolic.

On the subject of expanding his family, the rapper hinted that he is done having more children for now.

“I don’t think there will be a next right now. I just want to focus on Island and Space and my career,” he said.

He also emphasised his desire to be a hands-on father. “I always want to be there for my kids. I’m not that father who just sends money. I like to spend time with my kids.”

Why ‘I believe Kpebu over the OSP’ – Manasseh Azure speaks

0

Manasseh Azure Awuni (M) explains why he believes Martin Kpebu (R) over Kissi Agyebeng’s (L) OSP Manasseh Azure Awuni (M) explains why he believes Martin Kpebu (R) over Kissi Agyebeng’s (L) OSP

Award-winning investigative journalist Manasseh Azure Awuni has cast doubt on the account given by the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) regarding the altercation that led to the arrest of renowned lawyer Martin Kpebu.

Speaking during a panel discussion on JoyNews’ Newsfile on Saturday, December 6, 2025, Manasseh said he believes Kpebu’s version of events because the OSP’s past actions have dented its credibility.

He cited as an example the OSP’s claim that its investigation into the SML scandal began in 2023, although information available to him shows that the investigation actually started in 2025.

“I think I would believe Martin Kpebu over the OSP at this point. In the past, I would not have doubted information coming from the OSP, which is supposed to be a citadel of integrity. In your interview with Martin Kpebu, you mentioned that The Fourth Estate published a report stating that the SML investigation started in 2023 — that was an official report from the Office of the Special Prosecutor, which many media houses published.

“I had no reason to believe or even suspect that such an honourable office might be lying in this report. Then, early this year, officials of that office reached out to me on the 29th of January 2025, and the call was to the effect that, ‘You petitioned our office to begin investigating SML. We are about to start the investigation, and we think it is proper that we understand the petition. There may be background information you have that is not in the petition or even in the documentary.’ So we scheduled a meeting, and that meeting came off on the 31st of January.

“There was a follow-up email from the officer leading the investigation at the time, and this email came on the 5th of February 2025. It said I should provide them with some information for, quote, ‘the preparatory process for the investigation’, and it was in line with the fact that they were about to begin,” he said.

The journalist indicated that his engagement with the OSP, as well as a “diary of action” he intercepted from the office, clearly shows that the investigation did not begin in 2023.

Kpebu’s arrest could be grounds for OSP’s removal – Kow Essuman asserts

He also argued that the office has been releasing inaccurate figures regarding the amount of money involved in the SML scandal, further undermining trust in its statements.

“It is difficult at this moment to just believe everything that they say,” he reiterated.

The Office of the Special Prosecutor came under intense criticism from sections of the public after it arrested and detained Martin Kpebu, whom it had invited to assist with information on allegations he made against the Special Prosecutor, Kissi Agyebeng.

The OSP accused Kpebu of obstruction of justice after an altercation with soldiers at its premises, stating that he verbally abused the officers.

Kpebu, however, maintained that he only insulted one of the officers after the officer allegedly called him “stupid”.

In a strategic move to enhance operational efficiency within the cocoa sector, the Managing Director of the Cocoa Marketing Company (CMC), Dr Wisdom Kofi Dogbey, and his team recently conducted a visit to some cocoa Takeover Centres to assess the state of operations in the current cocoa season.

This visit was also aimed at evaluating CMC’s performance and readiness to implement a 24-hour operating model in key departments, in line with the vision of His Excellency President John Mahama to implement 24-hour operations across key sectors of the economy.

During the visit, the MD engaged directly with team members who are dedicated to ensuring that Ghana’s premium cocoa is stored and handled with the utmost care.

These discussions provided valuable insights into the challenges and successes faced by the workforce, highlighting the importance of collaboration and motivation in achieving operational excellence.

“This visit was crucial for understanding our operational performance and identifying areas for improvement,” the MD remarked. “I was truly inspired by the enthusiasm and commitment displayed by our team members, who share a passion for elevating Ghana’s cocoa industry.”

Dr Wisdom Dogbey emphasised that CMC is well prepared to implement a 24-hour operating model, aimed at revolutionising warehouse, port, and shipping operations.

By ensuring around-the-clock availability, CMC seeks to maximise efficiency, reduce turnaround times, and enhance service delivery to stakeholders. This initiative is not just about optimising internal processes; it represents a significant advancement for the entire cocoa industry in Ghana, as envisioned by the President.

The MD outlined the numerous benefits of a 24-hour operation, stating, “This model will improve the handling and storage of cocoa, ensuring that our beans maintain their quality and integrity.

It will also allow for better inventory management, reducing wastage and losses during peak seasons. By increasing our operational capacity, we can respond more swiftly to market demands and enhance our competitiveness on the global stage.”

Moreover, the implementation of this model aligns with CMC’s commitment to supporting Ghana’s cocoa farmers. Streamlining operations and improving efficiencies will ensure that farmers receive timely payments and support through the Licensed Buying Companies (LBCs), ultimately contributing to their livelihoods and the sustainability of cocoa farming in the country.

Reflecting on the visit, Dr Dogbey expressed optimism about the future of Ghana’s cocoa sector. “With initiatives like the 24-hour operating model and ongoing efforts to improve local processing of cocoa beans, we are poised to meet the growing global demand for cocoa and position Ghana as a leader in the cocoa industry,” he noted.

As CMC embarks on this new chapter, the MD reaffirmed the company’s commitment to working closely with stakeholders and partners to drive growth and innovation in Ghana’s cocoa sector. “Together, we can create a brighter future for the industry, ensuring that Ghanaian cocoa continues to be recognised for its exceptional quality and value.”

The visit underscores CMC’s proactive approach to enhancing operational excellence and its readiness to embrace the opportunities that lie ahead in the cocoa industry.

Govt announces major investments in creative arts

0

The government has reaffirmed its commitment to positioning the creative arts sector as a cornerstone of Ghana’s national development.

Speaking on behalf of Chief of Staff, Julius Debrah at the 50th Anniversary Soirée of the Musicians Union of Ghana (MUSIGA), Deputy Chief of Staff (Administration) Nana Oye Bampoe Addo outlined sweeping reforms and investments aimed at transforming the country’s creative economy.

Nana Oye emphasised that President John Dramani Mahama’s administration is determined to unlock the sector’s full potential.

“The 2026 National Budget allocates GHS 20 million in seed capital for a new Creative Arts Fund, designed to provide grants, soft loans, technical training, and business development support for musicians, fashion designers, digital creators, film producers, and other creatives. Talent alone is not enough; it must be supported by capital, strategy, and innovation,” she stated.

The government is also strengthening intellectual property systems and improving royalty collection to ensure artists receive fair compensation for their work.

Addressing a gathering of musicians, industry leaders, cultural icons, and policymakers, Nana Oye lauded the creative community for its invaluable contribution to national life.

“It is said you cannot be sad in Ghana. How could you be? In a country where laughter is a national language… our creative content brings families together, and our dances travel farther than our passports,” she noted.

Highlighting the sector’s economic significance, she cited Ghana Statistical Service data showing arts and culture contribute approximately 2.5% of GDP, supporting millions of jobs nationwide. Major concerts, such as ShattaFest 2025, can inject tens of millions of cedis into the economy in a single day through tourism, hospitality, transport, and media activities.

“Digital revenues are also expanding rapidly. Ghana’s recorded music and streaming market is projected to reach US$4.36 million in 2025, reflecting the growing global reach of our music,” she added.

Nana Oye also highlighted government collaborations with global platforms, including a recent partnership with TikTok to host “Ghana Creator Education Day,” aimed at enhancing digital skills, securing fair compensation, and boosting international visibility for Ghanaian creators.

These initiatives align with the NDC’s Resetting Ghana manifesto, which includes plans to commercialise cultural goods, revive theaters and performance spaces, and foster international cultural partnerships.

Looking ahead, Nana Oye described Ghana’s creative future as deeply intertwined with technology. AI-driven content creation, virtual concerts, VR storytelling, and global streaming platforms present “unprecedented opportunities” for Ghana’s creative class.

“Our musicians can reach the world without leaving Accra… our animators can build Afro-futuristic worlds that inspire the next generation,” she said.

Concluding her address, she called for stronger collaboration across government, the private sector, unions, creators, and the diaspora.

“We have the talent. We have the energy. We have the global attention. Now we have a government committed to building the structures, financing systems, and enabling environment for success,” she said.

Minority’s “vicious defence” saved Ghana from bad lithium deal – Dr Zaato

0

Political scientist and senior lecturer at the University of Ghana, Dr Joshua Zaato, has praised the Minority in Parliament for what he describes as their “vicious defence and rejection” of the government’s renegotiated lithium agreement, saying the country owes the current pushback to their unwavering stance.

Speaking on the AM Show, Dr Zaato said the Minority Caucus has shown exceptional leadership in resisting what they believed to be an unfavourable deal for Ghanaians. “We are here today because that small minority in Parliament refused to be intimidated, refused to be bulldozed, refused to be harassed. They knew their stuff,” he stated.

His remarks come as the Minority Caucus on the Lands and Natural Resources Committee expresses disappointment over the government’s approach to the revised lithium mining lease between the Government of Ghana and Barari DV Ghana Limited.

In a statement signed by the Committee’s Ranking Member, Kwaku Ampratwum-Sarpong, the Caucus accused the government of attempting to justify a reduction in the royalty rate from 10% to 5%—a move they say leaves the country “worse off.”

The Caucus noted that the previous NPP administration had agreed to a 10% royalty rate in October 2023. At the time, the then-opposition NDC described that rate as “mediocre,” yet now in government, the rate has been lowered further.

The statement questioned the rationale behind the reduction, arguing that Barari DV Ghana Limited would still make significant profits even with a 10% royalty rate. They insisted that no clear explanation has been provided for what has changed to warrant the adjustment.

Dr Zaato, backing the Minority’s concerns, said their firm resistance has been crucial in drawing public attention to the renegotiated terms. He argued that without their pushback, the government’s position may have gone unchallenged.

The controversy over Ghana’s lithium resources has become a major national issue, with civil society groups, industry analysts, and political actors debating how best the country should benefit from its emerging green mineral sector.

IGP leads show of force with new armoured vehicles

0

Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Christian Tetteh Yohunu on Saturday, December 6, led members of the Police Management Board and senior officers in a show-of-force exercise using the Ghana Police Service’s newly acquired armoured vehicles, signalling heightened security readiness for the Christmas season.

The exercise, conducted across parts of Accra, highlighted the operational strength of the Service as officers manoeuvred the armoured carriers in a coordinated display designed to deter crime and reassure the public of police visibility during the busy holiday period.

Upon receiving the vehicles on Thursday, December 4, the IGP urged officers to maintain high morale and intensify efforts to combat crime nationwide, assuring them of the government’s full support.

Meanwhile, President John Dramani Mahama said the 40 armoured vehicles mark the beginning of a broader initiative to strengthen the operational capacity of the Ghana Police Service.

Armed Robber Reportedly Falls Asleep In The Middle Of An Operation While Sucking Female Victim

0

According to a report by Ghpage News, an armed robber has been apprehended after he reportedly fell asleep in the middle of a home invasion aimed at sexually assaulting a woman. The bizarre events unfolded in a quiet neighborhood, leaving residents stunned and local law enforcement officers perplexed.

According to preliminary reports, the suspect entered the woman’s home with the intention of carrying out a violent act. Armed and dangerous, he confronted her aggressively, making threats that escalated the situation dramatically.

When the woman resisted his advances, the situation took a violent turn; he attacked her with a knife, stabbing her and then issuing grave threats against her daughter to force her compliance.

In a desperate bid to protect herself and her child, the woman devised a quick thinking strategy. She lied about being on her menstrual cycle, claiming that she was unable to engage with him. This clever twist seemed to momentarily disarm the robber, revealing an unexpected vulnerability in a person typically associated with power and aggression.

Rather than escalating the violence, the robber made an unusual request: he asked to perform an act that left the woman bewildered yet hopeful for her own safety. Surprisingly, she acquiesced to his bizarre demand, ostensibly believing it might keep her and her daughter safe.

However, the unexpected turn of events did not end there. As the robber attempted to fulfill his strange request, fatigue set in. To the disbelief of the victim, the armed intruder collapsed and fell asleep right there in her home—a stark contrast to the violent encounter that had just previously taken place.

Authorities arrived shortly thereafter, responding to reports of the incident. They found the robber sound asleep, having completely lost any sense of the chaos he had created moments before. Officers quickly apprehended him, bringing an unsettling chapter to a close for the victim and her family.

Residents of the neighborhood have expressed their shock at the incident, citing it as something out of a surreal horror film rather than a reality. “It’s just unbelievable,” one local resident commented. “Who would think that something like this could happen right in our neighborhood? And to hear that he fell asleep? It’s just bizarre.”

Law enforcement officials have assured the community that they are taking the matter seriously and are proactively addressing safety concerns. The victim, while shaken, is reported to be recovering from her physical injuries and receiving the support she needs.

As the investigation continues, this incident serves as a reminder of the unpredictable nature of crime and the lengths individuals may go to in life-threatening situations.

It also highlights the complexities of human behavior, even in the most dire circumstances. The community remains vigilant as they grapple with the remnants of a story that seems as surreal as it is tragic.

Deadly attack on kindergarten reported in Sudan

A drone attack on the town of Kalogi, in Sudan’s South Kordofan region, is said to have hit a kindergarten and killed at least 50 people, including 33 children.

The Rapid Support Forces (RSF), the paramilitary group battling the army in Sudan’s civil war, was accused of Thursday’s attack by a medical organisation, the Sudan Doctors’ Network, and the army.

There was no immediate comment from the RSF.

The RSF, in turn, accused the army of hitting a market on Friday in a drone attack in the Darfur region, on a fuel depot at the Adre border crossing with Chad.

Sudan has been ravaged by war since April 2023, when a power struggle broke out between the RSF and the army, who were formerly allies.

The reports could not be verified independently.

According to the army-aligned foreign ministry, the kindergarten was struck twice with missiles from drones.

Civilians and medics who rushed to the school were also attacked, it added.

Responding to reports of the attack in Kalogi, a spokesman for the UN children’s agency UNICEF said: “Killing children in their school is a horrific violation of children’s rights.”

“Children should never pay the price of conflict,” Sheldon Yett added.

The agency, he said, urged “all parties to stop these attacks immediately and allow safe, unhindered access for humanitarian assistance to reach those in desperate need”.

The RSF accused the army of attacking the Adre crossing because it was used for the “delivery of aid and commercial supplies”.

According to the Sudan War Monitor, a group of researchers tracking the conflict, the attack caused civilian casualties and significant damage to a market.

The military did not immediately comment on the reports from Darfur.

Wedged between Sudan’s capital Khartoum and Darfur, the region made up of North Kordofan, South Kordofan and West Kordofan has been a frontline in the civil war.

The battle for the Kordofans – which have a population of almost eight million – has intensified as the army pushes towards Darfur.

Ghanaians urged to prioritize locally produced foods

0

Madam Matilda Odonkor, the Ayawaso West Municipal Director of Agriculture, has urged Ghanaians to prioritise local produce in all aspects of their food transaction.

Speaking at the 41st Farmer’s Day celebration held at the Dzorwulu Junior High School, she said, “When we choose locally produced ingredients, we are not just buying food but creating jobs and livelihoods for our farmers.”

Additionally, she mentioned that “we will be stabilizing the Ghanaian economy, reducing our import bill and reinforcing national pride.”

The occasion was on the theme “Feed Ghana, Eat Ghana, Secure the Future.

According to her, climate-smart farming, youth inclusion, agri- technology adoption and deliberate investment in value addition are not optional but the foundation of a strong and resilient economy.

She said the future of Ghana’s agriculture depended on the resilience of the soil, the strength of the farmers and the choices the country make as a nation to support them.

“Let us renew our commitment to creating the policies, partnerships and platforms that allow Ghanaian agriculture to thrive in an ever-changing world,” she stated.

Dr Michael Mensah, the Municipal Chief Executive for Ayawaso West Municipality, said the launch of the feed Ghana programme by the government had introduced several transformative interventions that aimed to boost agricultural productivity and sustainability.

He said these include the establishment of farmer’s service centres, the promotion of institutional and community farming and the development of the poultry and livestock sector geared towards achieving greater self-reliance on food production.

He indicated that, according to the 2026 budget statement, the farmers service centres initiative would equip 50 agricultural districts with over 4,000 pieces of machinery, including combine harvesters, tractors, ploughs and fertilizer spreaders.

“This institutional and community farming intervention will encourage public institutions such as schools, faith-based organizations and security agencies to engage in farming activities,” he said.

This, he said, would not only promote food production at the community level but also promote home- gardening to enhance food security with families and households.

Nii Djani Kotei VI, the Chairman of the occasion and spokesperson for Mempasem Traditional Area, urged the assembly to intensify agricultural activities in the basic schools.

The Overall Best Farmer was a 54-year-old man, Mr. Samuel K. Afful, an ex-serviceman, who has six acres of land, a poultry farm of 300 birds, yam, cassava and groundnut farms.

He received a tricycle, knapsack sprayer and a certificate.

Ghanaian Moritz-Broni Kwarteng plays for Bochum Ghanaian Moritz-Broni Kwarteng plays for Bochum

Moritz-Broni Kwarteng came off the bench and quickly made his mark, setting up the only goal in Bochum’s hard-fought 1-0 victory over Arminia Bielefeld in the Bundesliga 2 on Saturday.

Kwarteng entered the game in the 64th minute, replacing Kjell Wätjen, and brought new energy to Bochum’s attack. Just six minutes later, he delivered a smart assist that changed the afternoon.

His well-placed ball found Philipp Hofmann in the box, and the striker headed home from close range to give Bochum the lead.

The match at the Vonovia Ruhrstadion was tight, with Bochum holding 41% possession but creating better chances.

They finished with an expected goals rating of 1.88, showing their intent even in a narrow game. Bielefeld pushed forward in search of an equaliser, but Bochum stayed organised, clearing danger in the final minutes.

The win lifted the home crowd and highlighted Kwarteng’s value as an impact player. Bochum now shift their focus to their next league fixture against Hannover 96 on December 13, hoping to build on this momentum.

Mahama pledges single-digit interest rates to ease farmers’ credit burden

0

President John Dramani Mahama has announced that his government will take aggressive measures to reduce interest rates on agricultural credit to single digits, saying that current lending conditions make it nearly impossible for farmers to profit from their labour.

Speaking at the 41st National Farmers’ Day Celebration in Ho, he described high-interest loans as one of the most crippling obstacles facing farmers nationwide.

He said the burden placed on farmers by commercial lending rates means many ultimately work “for the bank and not themselves,” hindering national efforts to strengthen food security and expand agricultural production.

“The capital and credit facility that is available to our farmers is at such an interest rate that when a farmer is able to access it, they would be working for the bank and not themselves,” the President said.

He emphasised that affordable credit remains essential to transforming agriculture into a self-sustaining engine of national development.

“One of our prime objectives is to get credit to our farmers at the best possible rate. We will be working towards a single-digit interest rate,” he stated.

“I agree that credit for agriculture must be at a single-digit interest rate. So this government is going to work to bring that interest rate below 10% so that farmers can have access to cheaper credit to be able to produce more for us to feed ourselves,” he added.

This year’s celebration brought together farmers, policymakers, and agricultural stakeholders to honour outstanding farmers and discuss strategies to strengthen Ghana’s food systems.

My Own People and Junior Officers Treated Me Like a Criminal After Election” – Akufo Dampare

0

Former Inspector General of Police (IGP) Akufo Dampers has revealed shocking details about how he was treated immediately after the last national elections. Speaking candidly, the former police chief stated that instead of receiving support and cooperation from his colleagues, he faced disrespect, mistrust, and a level of hostility that left him feeling isolated and unfairly targeted.

Akufo Dampers recounted that, following the elections, some of his own officers and junior personnel began treating him in a manner that he described as “criminal-like,” questioning his every move and doubting his integrity. He expressed disappointment that those he had trained, mentored, and worked alongside for years would suddenly display such behavior at a time when leadership cohesion was most needed.

The former IGP explained that the situation started subtly, with minor acts of defiance and insubordination, but quickly escalated into blatant disregard for his authority. According to him, officers who had previously shown loyalty began openly ignoring directives, delaying essential administrative processes, and spreading rumors questioning his decisions during the election period.

Akufo Dampers admitted that he found the experience emotionally and professionally challenging. He stated that he had always upheld the principles of discipline, fairness, and integrity within the Ghana Police Service, yet he was treated as though he had committed serious misconduct or betrayal. “It was disheartening to see people I considered my own turn against me,” he said, emphasizing the personal toll the experience took on him.

He also noted that the situation created significant operational challenges, particularly at a time when the police service needed to maintain public trust and ensure peace and security during the post-election period. According to him, the lack of support from junior officers threatened the smooth functioning of the force and created unnecessary tension within the ranks.

Despite the challenges, Akufo Dampers maintained that he acted with professionalism and restraint throughout the period. He stated that he focused on ensuring law and order, protecting citizens’ rights, and maintaining the integrity of the police service, even when faced with internal hostility. He believes his conduct during that time reflects his commitment to the country and to upholding the highest standards of policing.

The former IGP also called for reforms within the police service to ensure better support and accountability among officers, especially during critical national events such as elections. He emphasized the importance of loyalty, trust, and unity among personnel to prevent future leaders from facing similar challenges.

Akufo Dampers concluded by reflecting on the lessons learned from the experience. While he acknowledged the personal hurt caused by the treatment he received, he stated that it reinforced his understanding of leadership resilience and the need to remain steadfast in the face of adversity. He urged current and future officers to prioritize professionalism and uphold the principles of the police service, regardless of political or personal pressures.

His revelations have sparked widespread discussion among citizens, law enforcement professionals, and political commentators, highlighting concerns about internal discipline, leadership respect, and the challenges faced by high-ranking officials during politically sensitive periods.

Increasing human rights abuse and criminalisation of speech under present regime worrying

Dr George Jebuntie Zaato is a political analyst Dr George Jebuntie Zaato is a political analyst

Political analyst Dr George Jebuntie Zaato has expressed concern over the recent increasing spate of arrests of citizens by state investigative institutions under the new Mahama administration.

Since the assumption of the second Mahama administration, EOCO and the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) have been in the news over the detention of several members of the erstwhile government and for demanding bail conditions, which have been roundly condemned.

The latest was the surprise detention of Lawyer Martin Kpebu last week by the OSP, and a demand for landed property as a condition for his bail.

Speaking on the issue on TV3’s Big Issues yesterday, Dr Zaato condemned the arrest of Martin Kpebu and expressed worry over the abuse of the rights of citizens under a government which is claiming to be more democratic than the previous government, which he said did not abuse the rights of citizens for speaking their mind.

“Martin Kpebu said worse things about Akufo-Addo and Bawumia but he was never arrested. Nobody touched him,” Dr. Zaato said.

“Then all of a sudden under a so-called liberalised regime, under the so-called new freedom — we are told that the Akufo-Addo regime was repressive and we are told that we are in a second independence — and under the new liberalised regime, Martin Kpebu cannot express his mind without the state arresting him.”

Martin Kpebu detained by OSP

Dr Zaato said Kissi Agyebeng, like those in charge of EOCO who have also been abusing the rights of citizens, were state officers acting in the name of the state under the present regime.

“Kissi Agyebeng was not acting in his personal capacity. He was acting as an agent of the state.”

“What the OSP is doing is not different from what EOCO has done. They have all done that. How do you take somebody in and then you say landed property? Where is Martin Kpebu going? I’m not a lawyer but I’m just asking, where is Martin Kpebu going?”

Dr Zaato added that if without the new cyber security law, which the Mahama government has proposed, the likes of Martin Kpebu and Paul Adom-Otchere could be arrested and their rights abused, he wondered what would be the fate of citizens and their rights to free speech if the cyber security law, which has been condemned as seeking to restrict free speech, is passed.

“My point is that both Martin and Paul are victims of a state that is increasingly criminalising speech. And all this is happening before the new cyber law or whatever is yet to come. Imagine for a minute if that law passes.”

Strongman insists he can’t rap like a scammer because he doesn’t live that lifestyle

0

Strongman is a Ghanaian rapper Strongman is a Ghanaian rapper

Ghanaian rapper Strongman, known in private life as Osei Kwaku Vincent, says he has no interest in forcing himself into music trends that do not reflect his character or real-life experiences—particularly the increasingly popular “scammer rap” genre embraced by some young artists.

In an interview on Angel FM in Kumasi, Strongman emphasised that authenticity remains the foundation of his music, and he refuses to rap about themes such as fraud, drugs, or street life simply because they are trending.

“Some songs reflect who I really am, but there are others that don’t,” he said. “As a musician, some things must be experienced first-hand. When that happens, it becomes easier to sing about them.”

He explained that trying to rap about fraud or drug culture would sound “funny and fake” because he has never lived that lifestyle. Strongman noted that he can now rap comfortably about parties since his friends occasionally bring him into those settings, but certain subjects remain off-limits.

“When it comes to hate or love songs, I do them well because that is my lifestyle. But when it comes to scamming, weed, and the rest, I don’t do them well,” he added.

Strongman also highlighted the influence of his social circle on the music he creates. According to him, the people closest to him live calm, disciplined lives and do not even drink alcohol, making it unlikely for him to be exposed to certain habits or environments.

“My circle is full of gentle people who don’t even drink alcohol, so they won’t expose me to certain things for me to rap about them,” he said.

‘They all knew it was absolute loot’ — Senyi Hosi details alleged corruption in SML deal

Some of the people implicated in the SML scandal Some of the people implicated in the SML scandal

Finance and economic policy analyst Senyi Hosi has alleged details of the underhanded dealings behind the controversial revenue assurance contract between the Ghana Revenue Authority (GRA) and Strategic Mobilisation Ghana Limited (SML).

According to Hosi, he and his partner were originally contracted to work on the project before the SML-GRA deal was signed.

Speaking in a recent interview on Channel One TV, the policy analyst indicated that the Economic Management Team (EMT) of the government of former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo had agreed that he and his partner should handle the revenue assurance work. However, Ken Ofori-Atta, who was reportedly absent due to illness when the decision was made, later overruled it.

“All of a sudden, Evans Adusei and co appeared. It started with Ofori-Atta; he was sick at the time, so he wasn’t at that EMT. DMD had directed that this thing be done so that we cure this problem immediately.

“Ken Ofori-Atta sends a message to my partner saying, ‘no, no, no.’ The next minute, Ammishaddai’s hands are cliffed. Bawumia has directed something, Ken Ofori-Atta has cancelled it without even consulting the EMT,” he said.

Senyi Hosi suggested that the work reportedly done by SML using the software was entirely false. He claimed all persons implicated in the ongoing Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) investigation were aware that the contract was improper.

“There was no comparative analysis being done. The data was not being used for anything… They never used that system for analysis. They never brought that data to make meaning of even the data that was existing, and you were paying the people 24 million.

“Ammishaddai knows that that contract was unholy. Ammishaddai knows that the contract was technically moot. Akori knows that contract was technically moot. What’s his name, Soti? He also knows,” he added.

2025 WASSCE: Invigilation induced fear – Minority says GES explanation raises bigger questions

0

The Minority in Parliament says the Ghana Education Service’s (GES) explanation for the sharp drop in the 2025 WASSCE results raises more troubling questions than answers.

In a statement issued on Wednesday, December 3, the caucus described the GES justification as “embarrassing,” insisting that blaming students for the decline is both unprofessional and unethical.

The Minority argues that the service rushed to rationalise the poor performance without examining the Chief Examiners’ Reports.

According to the caucus, the results released by the West African Examinations Council showed “a decline” across all four core subjects—English Language, Mathematics, Integrated Science and Social Studies—when compared to the 2024 performance.

They said English dropped to 69%, Mathematics fell sharply to 48.73%, Integrated Science slipped to 57.74%, and Social Studies recorded 55.82%.

They contrasted these scores with the 2024 figures of 69.52%, 66.86%, 58.77%, and 71.53% respectively. What concerns them most, they said, is the “sharp and marked decline” in Mathematics, which had improved consistently from 2022 to 2024 before crashing this year. “The result of 48.73% recorded in this year’s examination is therefore an unfortunate and unacceptable outcome that needs to be examined and rectified,” they stated.

The Minority credited what they described as “pragmatic policies and interventions” under the previous NPP administration for improving learning outcomes between 2017 and 2024. They referenced the 2016 WASSCE performance—English (51.6%), Integrated Science (48.35%), Mathematics (33.12%), and Social Studies (54.55%)—as proof of a foundation they believe the current government inherited.

They accused the NDC government of “retrogressively resetting education in the country” instead of building on the gains. “If they cannot enhance the improved performance bequeathed to them, the least they can do is to maintain it, and not to lower it,” the statement said.

The caucus reserved its hardest criticism for the GES explanation issued on December 1. They said the service’s attempt to link the decline to “candidates’ natural abilities” and heightened invigilation is unacceptable. “How do you come to that conclusion when you have not even examined the Chief examiners’ reports?” they asked.

They said it was alarming that the GES attributed apprehension among students to strict supervision and adherence to examination protocols. “This is very unfortunate and scary. Could it be a reason for the poor performance?”

The Minority argued that while invigilation is necessary to protect the integrity of examinations, it “should not, and must not put fear in the candidates” because fear can negatively affect performance. They questioned why the GES failed to mention any other variables that influence learning outcomes. “Are they suggesting that invigilation and supervision alone are the variables that promote positive learning outcomes among learners? This is sad,” they said.

The caucus called for urgent measures from the Ministry of Education and the GES to reverse the decline. They said the poor 2025 performance—especially in Mathematics—is “discouraging, troubling and unacceptable,” warning leaders in the sector to “provide effective leadership that accepts responsibility and not engage in blame games.”

The statement was signed by Dr. Yaw Osei Adutwum, Ranking Member on the Education Committee of Parliament.

Court sets timelines in Nana Agradaa’s appeal against 15-year sentence

0

The appeal filed by fetish priestess–turned–evangelist Patricia Asiedua Asiamah, popularly known as Nana Agradaa, who is serving a 15-year prison sentence, progressed at the Amasaman High Court on December 4 after the judge issued fresh directives to both parties.

Her lawyer, Richard Asare Baffour, told Citi News that the defence has been given two weeks to file its written address. The prosecution will then have one month, from the date it receives the defence’s submission, to file its response.

The case has been adjourned to January 21, 2025, for a status update and the scheduling of a judgment date.

However, proceedings were briefly delayed when the prosecution informed the court that the record of appeal did not include the Pen drive containing video evidence from the church service at the centre of the case.

The defence requested that the matter be stood down to allow copies of the video files to be retrieved from the court’s docket and handed over to the Attorney General’s office. The court granted the request, and the necessary materials were provided, enabling the hearing to continue.

Nana Agradaa is challenging her conviction and sentence, arguing that the trial process was unfair, that the evidence did not support the verdict, and that the 15-year jail term imposed on July 3, 2025, for charlatanic advertisement and defrauding by false pretence is excessive.

Politicians oppose OSP to control prosecutions

0

Dr. Kojo Asante, Director of Policy, Advocacy and Engagement at CDD-Ghana, has warned that resistance from Ghana’s political class to an independent prosecutor is undermining the country’s fight against corruption.

Speaking on Channel One TV’s Big Issue on Saturday, December 6, he stated that the pushback against the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) since its creation reveals a deeper political desire to control who faces prosecution and who does not.

He argued that the OSP, though established to operate independently, has been subjected to persistent harassment, coordinated attacks, and attempts to undermine its work. According to Dr. Asante, these pressures are deliberate, reflecting political actors’ discomfort with an institution capable of pursuing cases without interference.

“It is obvious to me that the political class does not want the idea of an independent prosecutor,” he said, stressing that many leaders prefer a system where they can decide who faces accountability and who is shielded from the law.

He added that the OSP has consistently performed its mandate despite the obstacles, proving its relevance in curbing corruption and limiting impunity in public office. For that reason, he said, dismantling or weakening the office would be a major setback for good governance.

“The OSP has performed and has withstood every challenge. Since its establishment, it has faced constant harassment, barrage, and continuous efforts to undermine it. It is clear to me that the political class does not want the idea of an independent prosecutor, because people want to control the prosecution process — who should be prosecuted and who should not. And if we are going to tackle corruption and restrain the kind of impunity that is endangering our democracy, we need an office like the OSP,” he said.

KT Alleges Discovery Of Mensa Otabil On Bank Of Ghana Board, Properties In Virginia Tracked

0

Controversy has emerged after claims by social commentator KT alleging that renowned Ghanaian pastor Mensa Otabil is linked to the Bank of Ghana Board and owns properties in Virginia, United States. The allegations, which have stirred public debate, focus on questions about Otabil’s financial dealings and influence in both public and private sectors.

According to KT, investigations have revealed that Mensa Otabil, in addition to his religious work, holds significant interests that intersect with Ghana’s financial institutions and foreign assets. He specifically alleges that Otabil’s name appears in official or quasi-official records connected to the Bank of Ghana Board, and that certain properties in Virginia have been traced to him. KT suggests that these revelations raise important questions about transparency and accountability for public figures and religious leaders involved in financial and governance matters.

Observers note that while the claims have yet to be independently verified, they have generated significant attention on social media and in news circles. Many Ghanaians have expressed interest in understanding the nature of Otabil’s alleged connections to the Bank of Ghana and the implications of his foreign property ownership. Some commentators argue that if true, such links highlight the need for clearer disclosure policies for influential figures in both religious and public domains.

Mensa Otabil has not publicly responded to KT’s allegations, and it remains unclear whether he or his representatives will provide clarification. Legal analysts suggest that should formal investigations be pursued, they would likely examine property ownership records, board membership documentation, and compliance with Ghanaian financial regulations.

Meanwhile, KT’s claims have reignited debates about the roles and responsibilities of public and religious figures in Ghana, with many urging that transparency, integrity, and accountability must be upheld. Civil society groups have emphasised that any credible allegations involving financial or institutional oversight should be thoroughly investigated to maintain public confidence in governance and institutional operations.
