A fatal road crash along the Zaria\u2013Kano highway on Sunday, July 6, 2025, claimed the lives of 21 people, according to the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Kano Sector Command.<\/p>\n

The accident occurred at about 8:23 a.m. at Kasuwar Dogo, Dakatsalle, involving a DAF Trailer (GWL 422 ZE) and a Toyota Hummer Bus (KMC 171 YM).<\/p>\n

In a statement signed by CRC Abdullahi Labaran, Sector Public Education Officer, it was confirmed that the crash was caused by a route violation by the bus driver, leading to a head-on collision followed by a fire outbreak that engulfed both vehicles.<\/p>\n

Out of the 24 persons involved, 21 lost their lives, while three sustained varying degrees of injuries.<\/p>\n

Corps Commander MB Bature said, \u201cPreliminary findings revealed that the driver of the bus was driving against traffic, which directly led to the crash. This is a tragic reminder of the dangers of reckless driving.\u201d<\/p>\n

He added, \u201cThe burnt bodies have been deposited at Nassarawa Hospital Mortuary, while the injured are receiving treatment at Garun Malam General Hospital.\u201d<\/p>\n

FRSC officials, in collaboration with the Nigeria Police and fire services, worked swiftly to extinguish the flames and clear the wreckage.<\/p>\n

\u201cThanks to the quick intervention of our Rs1.2 Kano Tow Truck team and police support, the obstruction was cleared, and traffic has returned to normal,\u201d Labaran noted.<\/p>\n

Commander Bature extended condolences to the families of the deceased and urged all road users to adhere to safety regulations.<\/p>\n

\u201cWe strongly advise the public to avoid dangerous overtaking, obey traffic rules, and limit night travels to prevent avoidable tragedies,\u201d he stressed.<\/p>\n
