{"id":374170,"date":"2025-06-27T23:12:05","date_gmt":"2025-06-27T23:12:05","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/ng\/2025\/06\/27\/angry-mob-kills-12-wedding-bound-travellers-in-plateau\/"},"modified":"2025-06-27T23:12:05","modified_gmt":"2025-06-27T23:12:05","slug":"angry-mob-kills-12-wedding-bound-travellers-in-plateau","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.ghanamma.com\/ng\/2025\/06\/27\/angry-mob-kills-12-wedding-bound-travellers-in-plateau\/","title":{"rendered":"Angry Mob Kills 12 Wedding-Bound Travellers In Plateau"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><\/p>\n<div>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-8 ai-optimize-introduction\">At least 12 travellers from Basawa community in Zaria, Kaduna State, have been killed during an attack in Mangu, Plateau State.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-9\">It was gathered that eleven others sustained injuries and are currently receiving hospital treatment.<\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-10\">INFORMATION NIGERIA learnt that the victims are said to be a group of 31 men, women, and children, travelling in an 18-seater bus belonging to Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, when the assailants attacked them around on Friday.<\/p>\n<p><span class=\"td-adspot-title\">Advertisement<\/span><\/p>\n<p class=\"ai-optimize-11\">It was gathered that the travellers were heading for Qua\u2019an Pan LGA to attend a wedding ceremony when they ran into a mob.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang, while reacting to the incident on Saturday, expressed shock and sorrow over the tragic action.<\/p>\n<p>Governor Mutfwang, who visited survivors in the hospital and the scene of the unfortunate incident, described the mob action as totally condemnable and avoidable.<\/p>\n<p>He said: \u201cToday is a tragic day for us in Plateau State. I never imagined such a senseless act of violence could occur within our borders, especially considering the commendable efforts of our youths in this community and neighbouring districts who have consistently risen to support security agencies in defending against criminal incursions.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cIt is deeply disheartening that the same youths who have shown courage and patriotism would turn around and take the law into their own hands. We have been educating our young people about the importance of allowing free passage on all roads across the state, and this incident has come to us as a rude shock.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI want to reassure Nigerians that Plateau remains a safe place for all travelers. I have spoken with my colleague, the executive governor of Kaduna State, to brief him on this unfortunate incident.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cI have also reached out to his royal highness, the Emir of Zazzau, to express my heartfelt condolences over this tragic loss of lives.
