NGA 6-0 STP: Best players for the Super Eagles as Nigeria finish as group winners

The Super Eagles started the game with a 4-2-2 formation as Osimhen and Taiwo Awoniyi were given the opportunity to start both as striking pairs.

The game started underway as Nigeria dominated proceedings from the on set, limiting the Sao Tome and Principe team to the half way line, and it wasn’t too long as the team found the net as through their star man Victor Osimhen, who got on the end of a cross and headed into the net to ensure the Super Eagles were on top.

It wasn’t too long that Atalanta winger, Ademola Lookman made it 2-0 through neat strike at the edge of the box.

Kelechi Iheanacho had the ball in the net in the first half through a neat 1-2 passing in the box, but the goal was judged to be offside.

Taiwo Awoniyi made the goal 3-0 as the Nottingham Forest striker scored a sublime goal as he cheated downwards to score the third goal.

1. Kelechi Iheanacho

The player was involved in almost everything for the Super Eagles, he was the pivot for the team, linking play from one end to the other.

He was the martial at the midfield and deserves a man of the match award.

2. Ademola Lookman

The Atalanta winger was on top of his game, he was a live wire at the left wing, making runs as well as finding passes. His goal was a sublime strike as he was top on his game.

3. Victor Osimhen

The player continued from where he stopped against Sao Tome and Principe last term, as he scored a hatrick in the game.

The Napoli striker has scored 10 goals in this qualifiers, twice more than the second placed highest goal scorer in the CAF AFCON qualifiers, Sadio Mane who is on 5 goals.

4. Samuel Chukwueze

Although coming in the game deep into the second half, the AC Milan player had an assist and a goal to his name.

The player was swift against Sao Tome and Principe and he showed nice feet to score Nigeria’s 6th.
