Former Senate President, Dr. Bukola Saraki, has congratulated the Nigeria Under-20 team, Flying Eagles, for their outstanding victory against Argentina on Thursday.
Flying Eagles crushed their opponent with a 0-2 win to qualify for the World Cup quarter-finals.
In a signed tweet on Saraki’s timeline, he lauded the team’s performance despite obstacles faced.
His tweet read; “Woke up to the news that despite all the obstacles faced before the match, our Flying Eagles have advanced to the Round of Eight in the #U20WC! Congratulations boys! #SoarFlyingEagles”
After a goalless first half in the encounter, which ended early Thursday morning, Nigeria opened the scoring against the home country on 61 minutes.
Ibrahim Muhammad pounced on a loose ball inside the penalty area and beat the custodian with a shot into the bottom right corner to make it 1-0.
Nigeria’s second goal came two minutes into extra time. Rilwanu Sarki climbed high and beat the custodian with a beautiful header. He lobbed the ball inside the right post.
