INEC Chairman Told Me He Did Not Know Why Presidential Results Failed To Upload In Real-Time -Yabagi

As technology continues to play a more significant role in elections, the need for transparency and real-time updates becomes even more crucial. In Nigeria’s 2023 presidential election, concerns were raised when the results were not uploaded to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) Result Viewing Portal in real-time.

The chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council, Yabagi Sani, has shed some light on why this delay occurred. Speaking in a video shared on YouTube by AIT News, Sani recounted how he confronted INEC’s chairman, Professor Mahmood Yakubu, to find out why there was a delay in uploading the results.

According to Sani, Yakubu honestly told him that he also didn’t know why the delay occurred. Despite this, Yakubu assured him that the INEC server was not hacked into. This revelation came as a surprise to Sani, who initially suspected that the system had been compromised.

As we look towards future elections, it is essential that measures are put in place to ensure that the electoral process is transparent and reliable. This includes real-time updates and prompt responses to any issues that may arise. It is only by doing so that we can ensure that our democracy is upheld and that our electoral system remains fair and just for all.
