Chelsea conceded an agonising 89th-minute equaliser to Everton to ensure their three-game winning streak was ended just before the international break. Joao Felix’s accurate strike early in the second period broke the deadlock. Abdoulaye Doucoure got relegation-threatened Everton back level with the help of goalline technology, before Kai Havertz scored from the penalty spot to reinstate Chelsea’s lead just seven minutes later. But substitute Ellis Simms earned Sean Dyche’s struggling Toffees an oh-so-valuable point in their fight for survival.
Here are the three Chelsea players who performed well despite their draw with Everton
Wesley Fofana
An interesting battle with Demarai Gray where he jumped onto the field after a little push from behind in the first half. He does look like he’s getting into form at the moment. Was always a danger in the air all game. Will also be hurt by the late equaliser.
Joao Felix
Looked really lively. His movement, touch and awareness were all brilliant early on and that continued into the second-half. Takes his goal really well, and it was well deserved. Perhaps his best performance in a Chelsea shirt yet.
Kai Havertz
Not as impactful as recent matches. But he showed ice-cold composure from the penalty spot. He didn’t even look at the ball, he had his eyes on Jordan Pickford the whole time. Three goals in as many games for the German.
