BBNaija’s Laycon slams critic who said he isn’t fit to be called a rapper

Winner of Big Brother Naija Season 5 themed ‘Lockdown’, Olamilekan Agbeleshe, better known as Laycon has slammed a critic who said he doesn’t deserve to be called a rapper.

Kemi Filani News notes that the music industry and its fans have been divided lately following the comments made by Grammy-award-winning singer, Wizkid during an interview.

According to Wizkid, the Afrobeat genre of music is the new pop, he added that the rap genre of music is dead.

He said: “Afrobeats is the new pop, sold two million copies in America off of one song! Even some American artists don’t have a diamond record.

“If I’m being honest, I don’t listen to any other genre of music anymore. don’t listen to rap that shit is boring to me. It’s dead now, it’s tired. These guys do the same shit, rap on the same beats and the same flows.”

Laycon slams critic over rap music

The drama between Laycon and the critic identified as Sir David Onyemaizu began on Twitter. The latter tweeted that he wonders if Twitter users have ears while noting that its only an unserious person that can call Laycon a rapper.

He wrote: Sometimes, you’d wonder if folks on this music Twitter have ears. They are calling rappers with flows & bars and you’re calling Laycon. Must be ment though.

Replying the tweet, Laycon said that the crirc looks like someone who is starved. He wrote:

Bro, you look like someone who is starved of every good thing in life. And I don’t know if you’re married or not but you look like someone who begs his wife for sex every time.

The critic replied Laycon that he should stop corrupting people’s hear and get a job as aplumber of influencer.

Laycon celebrates 29th birthday in style

Kemi Filani news reported that Laycon celebrated his 29th birthday on 8th November 2022.

He took to his shared stunning photos from his birthday shoot.

Wishing himself a happy birthday, he wrote,

“It’s my day!!!
Olamilekan Agbeleshebioba Massoud Al Khalifah. Happy birthday to me”.

Laycon speaks on his influence

Singer Laycon had bragged about the massive influence he yields in Africa.

The singer described himself as one of the biggest personalities in Africa.

Laycon made this known during a sit-down with show host, Chude Jideonwo.

Speaking on his music career, Laycon revealed that he has been releasing music since 2012 and he got famous with the release of ‘It’s Laycon’ and ‘Fierce’.

According to him, his main aim of going into the reality show was to promote his musical career.

Laycon disclosed that the first person who told him about the massive influence he had was Davido.

He said,

“I have been doing music since 2016. I have been releasing music since 2012. I feel like the song that made people say ‘Who is this guy?’ has to be ‘Who is Laycon?’ or the song ‘Fierce’, this song blew up but I didn’t blow up with the song”.

Laycon opens up on his time in BBN

Speaking on his time in BBN, he said, “I was asking for musical stuff while in the house and I was particular about going back to my music”.

He further said about Davido,

“I think the first person that told me that I have no idea what was waiting for me outside was Davido”.

Revealing his fear, Laycon said, “I am afraid of loosing my mum and fear”.

Laycon went on to describe himself as the biggest personality in Africa, “I am Laycon. I am one of the biggest personality in Africa. I am naturally intelligent doesn’t mean I am not human. It doesn’t I can’t love. I can’t be hurt. I am not perfect.

Addressing his relationship status, “I am not in a relationship, I am not searching, I want to be found”.
