NANS To Begin Protest On Monday Over Detention Of Aminu Adamu

The National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS) has announced that students of the Federal University of Dutse will as from Monday, 5th of November 2022, engage in protests until Aminu Adamu Muhammed is released unconditionally.

Aminu is a student of the Federal University, Dutse Jigawa, and has been sent to the Suleja Correctional Centre in Niger State over a deregatory tweet about the wife of the President, Aisha Buhari.

NANS in a statement released on Thursday, 1st of December and signed by its National President, Comrade Usman Umar Barambu, disclosed that the association is determined to see the release of Aminu.

“Sequel to the exhaustion of all options available to us before confrontation in seeking the freedom of one of us who was arrested in questionable manner, tortured, molested, harassed and detained by agents of government, you are hereby notified of the decision of the leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students to proceed on a nationwide protest,” the NANS president said in a memo to the organs of the association.

“We have consulted and consolidated and neither yielded desirable results in seeking the freedom of AMINU ADAMU MUHAMMED, student of the Federal University Dutse hence the protest shall commence as follows: Monday 5th December, 2022 Nationwide.”

The association noted that the protest is against the Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba and the Wife of the President, Aisha Muhammadu Buhari.
