I’m Ashamed Of You—IGP Tells Policemen

Inspector-General of Police, IGP Alkali Baba has expressed disappointment over reports of brutality and extortion of the public by some policemen.

He has therefore directed all supervising Commissioners of Police and Tactical/Strategic Commanders to ensure strict supervision of their personnel.

According to Force Public Relations Officer, CSP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, Baba warned that further incidences of brutality or extortion would not be tolerated.

He ordered a holistic overhauling of the Intelligence Response Team, the Special Tactical Squad, and the Special Weapons and Tactics Units.

He directed the Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG) in charge of the Force Intelligence Bureau to supervise the three units to ensure their operations were professional and productive.

Baba said the AIG would ensure that the operation of the units did not infringe on the fundamental rights of members of the public.

UN Condemns Russia’s Attack Kn Ukraine

Energoatom, Ukraine’s nuclear power plant operator, said that Russian shelling damaged three radiation monitors around the storage facility for spent nuclear fuels, in which one worker was injured.

Bishop Arrested Over Alleged Sexual Molestation Of Members

A team of policemen from Elemoro Division of the Lagos State Police Command, weekend, stormed the Peculiar Generation Assembly at Eputu London in Awoyaya, Ibeju-Lekki area of Lagos, arresting the General Overseer, Bishop Chris Omosekpa.

His arrest was sequel to a bench warrant issued against him by Justice R. A. Oshodi of the Lagos State Sexual and Domestic Special Offences Court, GRA Ikeja.

It was learned that Omosekpa allegedly molested some of his church members, among whom were minors. He was alleged to have manipulated them through false prophecy and intimidation.

Omosekpa was initially arrested by policemen at Makinde Police Station, Mafoluku, Oshodi and charged to the Ogba Magistrate’s Court where he was granted bail under special circumstances after his lawyer claimed he had COVID-19 and tuberculosis.
