Aisha Yesufu Reacts As UK Arrests Ike Ekweremadu, Wife Over Alleged Organ Harvesting

One of the news presently making the rounds on different print and social media platforms is the arrest of former Nigerian Deputy Senate President, Ike Ekweremadu and Beatrice Nwanneka his wife in the United Kingdom (UK) for allegedly facilitating the “travel of another person with a view to exploitation, namely organ harvesting.”

It was gathered from a reliable source that according to the metropolitan police, Beatrice Nwanneka Ekweremadu, 55 years old and her husband Ike Ekweremadu, 60 years old from Nigeria is charged with conspiracy to arrange and facilitate the travel of another person with a view to exploitation, namely organ harvesting.

As a result of this, Aisha Yesufu, a socio-economic activist has reacted to reports on the news. In a tweet on her official Twitter handle expressed fear over the development.

Aisha Yesufu said that such cases may have been happening in the country as people keep going missing. She tweeted, saying that “This is scary.” She went to ask the following questions:

“How many missing people are related to organ harvesting? How many such cases have been happening in countries where they do not care and corruption is rife? How many are even happening here?

It will interest you to note that this news is coming as a shock to so many Nigerians. Many are yet to believe if it is the former Deputy Senate President or someone else. If at all he is the one, what on earth could make him be involved in such an act with his wife? Feel free to share your thoughts on this.
