With less than 8 months remaining before the next general election, several candidates have already expressed their interest in taking over from President Kenyatta when his term comes to an end.
ODM leader Raila Odinga and Deputy President William Ruto have so far been identified as the leading candidates in the race which also includes Anc leader Musalia Mudavadi and Kalonzo Musyoka of the Wiper party.
Raila is reported to be riding on Uhuru’s support as he looks to go a step further to try and win the top job this time. Raila’s Campaign team led by Laikipia Governor Nderitu Muriithi has drawn strategic plans to help propel Raila to power.
According to a report by a local daily, the team has divided the country into three zones based on the strength of Raila’s candidacy in the region.
It has now emerged that President Kenyatta has been tasked with helping him to campaign in Mt Kenya and Rift Valley region where the Deputy President has built a strong vote base.
Uhuru’s presence in Raila’s Campaigns is expected to help him boost his numbers significantly in regions that were perceived impenetrable.
